(context below)
On October 8th 2022 the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians played a postseason game that went 15 innings and lasted 4 hours 57 minutes. The score sat at 0-0 until Oscar Gonzalez hit a walk-off home run single off of Corey Kluber to end the game and end the Rays hopes at a championship. I intended to watch the end of this game before the Jays-Mariners game started but because nobody could score it ended up overlapping with that game by like an hour. So anyway, that is the context for this edit, which was originally posted a few days after the game.

20 June, BOS @ MIN, 10-4, Win
Kutter Crawford making a triumphant return from the bullpen to put in a quality start when the starting rotation is not fully armed (geddit?) and operational was not on my bingo card, I’ll be honest. Whoever did have on their bingo card must be delighted. And, to be fair, I’m rather delighted myself. Who wouldn’t be? The Sox were winning 10-0 going into the eighth. Could they maintain the shutout? No. It should come as a surprise to nobody that Corey Kluber was responsible for all four runs the Twins scored against the Sox, two in the 8th and two in the ninth. It’s fine. It didn’t cost us the game, but it did throw into sharp relief just where it was appropriate to use Kluber in, um, relief: garbage time. Not going to dwell on it though, just thought it was important to note. Because aside from that, it was a pretty great game. Pitchers’ duel for the first three innings then bash fest for the Sox from then on. Let’s look at the numerous bright sides.
Kutter Crawford (still his real name) went 5 innings and struck out five, scattering 6 hits, walking none and giving up no runs. Transferring his bullpen quality to his starting performance could come at a better time.
There was some heads up fielding on the Sox part, with Connor Wong executing a badass double play and no errors being made among other things. Is it bad that making no errors counts as a bright side? Probably, but let’s not think about that too much.
Christian Arroyo (every time I write “Arroyo” my reflex is to write “Bronson” in front of it... terrible trade, Theo, terrible trade) had an awesome evening on a night he wasn’t even supposed to play (Pablo Reyes scratched with abdominal soreness). He went 5-for-5 with 4 RBIs and a run scored (that run was on his solo dinger in the fourth). Missed the cycle by a triple.
Adam Duvall also hit a dinger, his only hit of the game but a good sign he’s returning to form).
Justin Turner went 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Masa Yoshida had a night, hitting a dinger, going 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. He seems to be working out very well.
Connor Wong, as well as being pretty great behind the plate, also went 2-for-4 at the plate and knocked in a run as well.
Dugie had a hit and scored a run.
We won!
We’ve won six in a row!
We technically can’t lose this series now.
The Rays have lost three in a row! LOL! Fuck those guys!

As the break following the Seoul series finally draws to a close, the boys are finally playing in petco again!
For a spring training series against the Mariners because this season's scheduling is a mess. First regular season series at home will be against the giants. Snell is not expected to pitch in that series, BoMel didn't give a timeline for him.
Honestly if there's a time you wanna face Snell it's early in the season while he's still snelly cat, before making the midseason transformation to Snellzilla.
It'll also be interesting to see how he pitches without Niebla, whom Blake always spoke very highly of. Michael King was hesitant about signing with the Padres but Corey Kluber also has nothing but positive things to say about our pitching coach. Definitely one of the unsung heroes in the organization. He also got hooked last season sticking up for the boys, which you gotta love.

Red Sox Thump Twins Again.
Red Sox 10 Twins 4 W-Crawford (2-3) L-Ober (4-4) SV-Kluber (1)
The Minnesota Twins have hit a mid-season swoon after losing four of their past five games. Somehow they are still in first place in a terrible division and looked to get back to .500 tonight against the Red Sox. A pitcher’s duel broke out at Target Field as Kutter Crawford and Bailey Ober threw up zeroes for the first three innings. Bpston broke through as Adam Duvall drilled an Ober slider out to center for a solo homer in the fourth. Two batters later, Christian Arroyo smacked a Bailey Ober fastball out to left for a solo shot. The two solo homers put the Red Sox up by a pair after four innings of play. The Red Sox kept adding on in the sixth as Masataka Yoshida and Christian Arroyo singled. Connor Wong lined a run-scoring single to right and the Boston lead grew to three. The Red Sox padded their lead in the seventh with an Alex Verdugo lead-off single to left. Justin Turner doubled him home and Rafael Devers was hit by a pitch. Masataka Yoshida hit a slow roller off Brent Headrick’s glove for an infield hit that scored another run. Boston loaded up the bases and Christian Arroyo unloaded them with a double to right. The night only got worse for the Twins as Masataka Yoshida smashed a two-run homer off Oliver Ortega in the eighth. The Twins finally found some offense in the bottom of the eighth as Eddie Julien led-off with a single to right. Byron Buxton plastered a Corey Kluber cutter out to left for a two-run homer. The Twins pulled within eight after eight frames. Royce Lewis added a solo blast off Kluber in the ninth. Max Kepler followed with a shot off a Kluber cutter and the Twins were within six quickly. Corey Kluber eventually got out of the ninth to earn the save and the Red Sox handily beat the Twins for the second straight night.
-Final Thoughts- Bailey Ober pitched well despite the loss. He went six innings and allowed three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. Brent Headrick gave up five runs in an inning, Oliver Ortega allowed two runs in the eighth, and Willi Castro had a scoreless ninth. Royce Lewis and Ryan Jeffers led the way with three hits each on the night. Byron Buxton had two hits. Buxton and Kepler might have broken out of slumps with homers in their last at-bats. The Twins hit 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. The team called Oliver Ortega and optioned Louie Varland to St. Paul. Kyle Garlick was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. Tomorrow, Garrett Whitlock will face Sonny Gray in Game 3. The Indians are now within a game of the division lead after beating the A’s tonight.
