Language fact: the Corsican word for turkey literally translates to "ugly chicken".

Understandable.

No one wants to claim these birds it seems.

English being the obvious one here calling them from Turkey.

Then there's French calling them from India

Dutch 'Kalkoen' being short for Calicut-hoen (region of India as well).

So yesterday I attended a festival's premiere night in my town whise theme this year was dubbing and voice acting, with the main movie being Terminator 2 officially dubbed in Corsican (it was great to see they got voices that fitted so much and were so good for non professionals !)

And the guest of honor to speak in the name of voice acting was the great Richard Darbois, one of my French favorite voice actors ever. All women love his voices, many grew up with his voice without knowing, his skills are unmatched, he can play aby role whether humorous or serious, he can sing, he is a huge name and to be fair I did not expect to ever see him IRL or at least not so early in my life and quest to enter the world of voice acting

Also remember he is my French voice claim for my vampire oc Meryamun

And not only I saw him IRL, for one minute I got to speak to him. I was so excited holy shit his voice is really like that every day and he was nice. When I told him I was a huge fan and grew up with his voice he initiated the French greeting (you know, kissing each other on the cheeks) and we shook hands for a good while I told him the characters who most marked me (and he was glad I remembered Oogie Boogie since it is not the most memorable role in France !) and told him I want to do voice acting. He told me I need to do theater (which I was told by others I don't have to but he is in his mid 70's so he must speak by experience, plus I did play in 2 shorts and voice in 2 others so maybe it counts) and wished me good luck

And what was probably just a normal minute in his life and he didn't even know my name has been a huge deal for me so I think to the people around us it looked like that

Which is funny since he voices Shan-Yu in that movie lol
