Do you ever just think about how Mollymauk would slip gold pieces into people’s pockets when they bought him drinks? How he saved a silk flower from the festival for Yasha, quietly apologizing that it wasn’t real? The way he used tarot to make Jester happy? Fumbling through a magic trick and giving away one of his charms to a little firbolg child--someone who just lost their whole family--because Molly just wanted to make them smile for a moment. How he drew tarot cards of all his loved ones, but never told anyone...
Mollymauk, who sacrifices himself for this family that he loves so much not once, but twice...just...the fact that Mollymauk genuinely and deeply cares about people. He’s very loving and loyal, and Taliesin intentionally built him that way.
Some of Taliesin’s thoughts on Mollymauk from The World of Critical Role that I think are integral to who Molly is as a character and the kind of person he is:
“Percy was not a healthy human being and was very destructive. I would consider Percy to be not a very good person, not worth my time. But he had a veneer of a very good moral person.” Molly is, in contrast, based on people Taliesin met “who had the veneer of uncivility and danger and negativity, but who managed to be some of the best people I’ve ever known in my life: the most caring and the most careful, willing to defend what was theirs and stand up for others.”
“[Molly’s power] was about sacrifice. It’s the giving of himself to give to others. Giving of himself to be a protector.”
“His very nature is to appear to be many things that he is not. His power looks one way--it looks damaging and looks broken and unhealthy--but, in the end, it’s all about a desire to be a good friend and a good family member. And the understanding that especially when you’re living in a world the way they are, that you sacrifice a bit of yourself for the people who are going to sacrifice a bit of themselves for you.”

imagine being dorian and your whole personality is putting up a (not very good) front of being suave because you’re living up to the stereotypical idea of being a bard and it’s kind of working but it’s also kind of not and it’s in that sincerity hiding beneath your facade that not one but TWO little men fall in love with you and one is a fullass himbo who thinks that you hung the moon and finds comfort in just the concept of your presence and the other is a soft-spoken, gentle, caring man who wishes nothing but your safety and friendship. absolutely insane i’d say

okay after that beauyasha parent post i just reblogged i’m having BY parent headcanons so here you go:
you know at parent-teacher night (the full night- not the little one on one conferences), how all the parents come into the classroom to hear their child’s teacher speak about the year about what they’re going to teach and their teaching styles, etc, etc and all the parents have to sit in the itty bitty children’s desks. yeah, that.
anyway so here’s yasha at her first parent-teacher night and all of the veteran parents know this is like, a formality, and what the teacher says most certainly does not matter but this is yasha’s first kid and her job is being a mom so goddamnit she’s gonna do it well.
so anyway there’s a 6 ft giant lady with bigass muscles squeezing into the teeny tiny kiddo chair with the desk in front, leaning over it, frantically scribbling everything the teacher says so she can have the information for later and study it to best prepare her kid for the incoming school year. she may or may not accidentally break the desk.

Thinking about Dorym again, and the likelihood that Orym is mourning his husband who he lost five or six years ago, and how maybe when he looks at Dorian, who is pretty and talented and young and kind, he feels a little stutter of his heart again for the first time in a long time. Maybe this is the first person who has really turned his head since he emerged from a cloud of grief. It feels nice, this warmth that spreads through Orym's chest when he looks at Dorian. The soft smile Dorian brings out of him feels good, this bloom of gentle emotion in his heart. He cares, he fiercely wants to protect, and the quiet feelings within him are another secret he can keep tucked close to the memory of the husband that he lost.
I think Orym might have feelings for someone new for the first time since, and even if he doesn't feel ready to act on them, he can craft a lovely little blue flower that Dorian will appreciate, just to feel that flutter when Dorian smiles.

im not gonna make molly comparisons very often because i kind of loathe them (as in, not all of taliesin’s characters need to be in reference to how they relate/equate to molly) but if anything, ashton is sort of a reverse molly. molly was an asshole with a charming front (not mechanically as in his CHA stat but as in the way taliesin portrayed him) and ashton is a charming sweetheart with an asshole front. he’s like yeah im tough and I Don’t Care and look at my Criminal Ties but also would you like some sandwiches and maybe we can play icebreaker games :D

CR2 Quick Reacts ep 89-91
Welcome to the void.
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve slowed down in watching - primarily because of work overload, but also because I’ve been trying to savior these episodes as we get closer to what you all tell me is The Real Shit(tm).
Well, except for the end, which made me rabid. But you know. It’s all in the name of storytelling. Matt Gottem Mercer.
Anyway, based on the yelling y’all have been doing at me, some Important Shit is coming up soon, so I shall restrain myself and do some of the comics I’ve been putting off before continuing, lest the following episodes inspire me MORe and I have to put stuff aside to satisfy my carnal urge to Create Fanart.
Unfortunately necessary reminder: Please don’t comment alluding to things in upcoming episodes - I’ve already been spoiled on SO MUCH through people casually chatting about things in the tags. I get the urge I really do, but if you enjoy my liveblogging, you gotta help me have the liveblog experience.
