A Month of Sundays by ok_boomerang
Fire Lord Zuko is desperately trying, and continuously failing, to successfully propose to Ambassador Katara. She's oblivious; everyone else is entertained. Meanwhile, Zuko is giving weekly Sunday speeches to the Fire Nation in an effort to help his people feel closer to their government. This effort was not supposed to include telling the entire Fire Nation about his plans for a future with Katara before even she knew about them. But it's fine! They promised not to tell!

Izumi had been a mere babe during her first and only trip to the Southern Water Tribe, back before Druk had even joined their family or the twins were even born. She remembered freezing white snow flurries and huddling in her father’s arms for warmth, but little else...   Or, the Fire Lord and his wife take their infant daughter out on a trip to see the Southern Lights during the crown princess' first visit to the Southern Water Tribe. Takes place in the timeline of "The Phoenix and the Dragon" but can be read as a standalone.

Katara isn't alone. She has Bumi and Kya. The three of them are family.
Zuko isn't alone either. He has Izumi. The two of them are family.
But maybe... just maybe, they can all be family together.
It Runs In The Family by Anon
Katara and Zuko were a lot of things. War heroes. Master benders. Fire Lord and Fire Lady. Their favorite occupation? Parents. They'd managed to find each other again and had children, who are part of a brand new world and mixed nations family. While isn't exactly easy, as shown through a repeating series parent teacher conferences.
Or basically, steambaby shenanigans because they have Sokka as their uncle and how could they not be wreaking havoc?

At a young age, Katara is taken to the Fire Nation as the first candidate in an experiment to assimilate the 'savages' instead of wiping them out. She grows up alongside the Royal Family before eventually escaping. Years later, an oddly familiar Fire Nation solider shows up at her village looking for the Avatar.

Zuko is done with Spirit tales. Everyone knew worthless nobodies like him didn’t receive happy endings. He wasn’t even allowed to go to the ball to see his love, a veiled waterbender he met in the woods, in person. Zuko lost all hope until a mysterious dragon helped him with a bit of magic.
Always With Me
While moving away from the only home she’d ever known, Katara finds herself spirited away to a strange in between realm. There, she struggles to ink out a living with the help of a mysterious masked boy who promised to get her home.

would you do a little one shot about aang with a steam baby?
How Do You Mend?
It took Aang six years and nine months to figure out that Katara was the absolute best he would ever get in this lifetime. It took another four months for him to try to find his wife and two children. The plan was to show up in the Southern Tribe with an armful of gifts for all three of them and a shiny new saddle on Appa to rescue them from the desolate frozen desert Katara had been born in. He was greeted by his stony faced ex-in-laws telling him that Katara and her kids had moved on years earlier and were living well in the Fire Nation. That was fine. Aang knew that his friend Zuko would be taking care of Katara and her children as if they were his own blood.
Katara greeted him with the cool, impassive expression he recognized from the few diplomatic trips she took with him. She was glad to see him, despite what her eyes seemed to convey. She had been planning to write him, but maybe face to face was better for something like this.
They were getting married. Katara and Zuko, that is. It hadn't been announced publicly, but the rest of their friends and family - which apparently no longer included Aang- already knew. Katara had a request from Aang in particular, which she told him she expected him to have no issue with. It had, after all, been nearly ten years since Katara had left. Ten years since he'd seen his first two children. They barely remembered him, and Zuko had been the only father they'd known for most of their lives.
"They're my kids!" Aang insisted. "I'm their father!"
"If you care about them, even a little," Katara pleaded, "then do this for their sake, not mine. He just wants to make sure they're taken care of. We both do."
"So what I think doesn't matter at all?" Aang felt his anger rising again. The familiar tug of the Avatar State pricked at the base of his skull and through his fingers and toes. Katara recognized the signs, but she met his eyes firmly as the wind picked up.
"No," Katara replied coldly. "Your opinion hasn't mattered in a long time, by your own doing. The only reason we're asking you is because of your position. Any other man would be considered an abandoner, and we wouldn't need your permission.
"You're asking me to give up my kids!" Aang whimpered. Katara rolled her eyes skyward and sighed.
"You've already given them up," Katara told him. "I'm only asking you to make it official. You have other children now. Other airbending children. You have your legacy. Let me have mine." Beyond her, Zuko stood at the top of the stairs, alone now. He was keeping his distance, but he looked formidable with his dark robes and even darker scowl. He turned back to Katara and sighed. He was no good at this sort of thing. People tended to listen to him because he was the Avatar, but he was never very persuasive on his own. But he still had to try. He begged for time to adjust to the idea, which Katara gave, grudgingly. Aang was allowed to stay for a few days- was expected to, in fact (as Avatar, he had recently been neglecting his duties to at least be seen in company of foreign dignitaries). He kept his eyes open for reasons to say no. For any sign of insincerity in Zuko to suggest that once he had Katara, he would drop the pretense of wanting to be a father to children that weren't his.
Aang had his chance to see Zuko with Bumi and Kya at a dinner hosted in Aang's honor. They had his attention as much as the Crown Princess had. Izumi, too, seemed to have accepted the new additions to her family. The three were nearly inseparable the entire evening. Zuko danced with both Izumi and Kya throughout the evening, letting them stand on his feet as he took them through the still unfamiliar steps. Bumi tugged at Zuko's hand, urging him to pile plates high with the sweets he was otherwise only allowed in small portions. At one point, Izumi had run to Katara to fix one of the Southern Water Tribe style braids she'd insisted on for the evening. Katara and Zuko's engagement hadn't yet been announced publicly, but still, the Fire Lord was never far from Katara or their three children. There was genuine affection in his face whenever he looked at Bumi and Kya.
Aang slipped away halfway through the evening, making his way to the stables, where Appa was being kept. He was, perhaps, not as surprised as he should have been when Katara appeared in the doorway.
"He loves them," she told Aang quietly. "He already thinks of them as his own. Izumi thinks of them as her siblings. And I'm adopting her, too." Aang was silent for a long moment. He turned away and busied himself with a matting in Appa's fur.
"I came here to ask you to forgive me," he told her.
"I forgive you," Katara said simply. "I did a while ago."
"But you won't come back to me?"
"No."
In the end, and for the first time ever, he gave Katara exactly what she asked for. He signed away his paternal rights, allowing Zuko to adopt Bumi and Kya officially at the same time he married Katara. It was, Aang thought as he made his way back to the Air Temple, full of squalling babies and aggravated mothers, the greatest sacrifice he'd ever made in his life. His last gift to the only woman he'd ever loved and her children.

“The Royal fire nation children pictured, attempting, to take a family picture in the Royal Gardens. Pictured left from right, Crown Princess Izumi, Princess Ursurna, Princess Kaita, Prince Tarkik and Prince Siku.” -United Times, circa 137 A.S.C.

I’m making this a series I swear, I’m having so much fun but oh my god backgrounds are the bain of my existence.
-
I don’t thunk i ever explained the names for the kids, but Kaita and Ursurna are named after their grandmothers, they’re names to the family being Kya and Ursa but I just felt like giving them all uniquish names because it felt fairer to them? I will explain more about their names in another post probably.

since you talked about Izumi in some of your posts (like Dad!Zuko and Mom!Mai and their “conquering Ba Sing Se adventure”) and the Hou-Tong/Izumi beef, I was wondering if you were open to make Gaang kids headcanons.
and if you were, can I request Kya and Izumi headcanons on their friendship etc?
Ok so, anon refers to this post and this other post in the ask, FYI.
But yes, I absolutely am down to make adult gaang/Gaang kids’ headcanons of any kind. So if y’all want any headcanon of that kind feel free to send an anon!
Anyway, back to the ask. I absolutely love the potential of Kya and Izumi’s dynamic. But since I love angst, here’s some little HCs with p a i n.
Izumi and Kya are roughly the same age, maybe Izumi is a year older than Kya.
Ever since they could sit straight, they’ve been inseparable. And as kids, with the republic city construction, they used to be constantly together
I headcanon that Izumi was more responsible and protective of Kya, while Kya saw Izumi as her idol, because you know, pretty firebending princess who punches everyone who looks at Kya the wrong way
I also like to think that Izumi was Kya’s gay awakening in her teens, but never acted on it because Izumi was straight and uninterested. Also, I HC that Izumi had a thing with Bumi, but that’s another story
Anyways. Since Izumi most likely had Iroh at like, 20, Kya would always hang out with Iroh as his fun aunt, doing mischief around etc.
But, and let’s go to the angsty part, I also HC that Kya and Izumi kind of began losing contact once 30s approached. Because you know, Kya was always traveling, and Izumi had crown princess duties to partake in.
Also, given that Zuko was Fire Lord and kind of not as involved in republic city as he used to be, the FN royal family did not hang out with the rest of the gaang as often, and Izumi ended up being often excluded from the drama etc. nothing unfixable, but stuff that definitely hurt Izumi.
I also feel like Izumi (and parents) was always invited to all of the gaang’s and their kids’ milestones, like weddings, ceremonies etc.
And when in 158AG Sokka died protecting Korra, Zuko and Izumi were at the funeral despite their problems in the fire nation.
But, and here we reach the most angsty part, a year later it was Mai who died, of an illness that had taken her like, five years prior. Of course Zuko and Izumi were distraught, and asked Katara, Toph and the others to attend.
But the day of the funeral, only Katara showed up. Because Bumi was in the United forces, Kya couldn’t interrupt her spiritual travels, Tenzin had a heavily pregnant Pema at home, Lin was working, Suyin was just up in her business in Zaofu and Toph was nowhere to be found.
This made Zuko very sad, but Izumi? She was furious. Absolutely furious. Because, how could they miss the one time they needed to be there for her after all the times she had gone out of her way to support them?
And especially, Izumi felt betrayed by Kya, for not even passing by or answering back to the news. So Izumi kind of ghosted and stopped talking with everyone.
The first time she saw any of the Gaang kids was during Kuvira’s storyline. And even then, as cold as ice
So I kind of headcanon that Korra had some business to do in the fire nation and the gang kids tagged along, and kind of had a some of fight with Izumi about her ghosting them and them never visiting
Izumi would be the most angry and hurt with Kya, and they would kind of be angry with each other for the entirety of the storyline
But then by the end, they would have an actual talk and begin speaking to each other again
So yeah, happy ending but TONS of angst. I know right? Amazing❤️

@zutaramonth day 14: Steam Babies
---
"You don't have to do this."
Her father was wrong. Kya had to do this. Girls didn't usually go ice dodging, but it wasn't unheard of. A Firebender, and the Fire Nation's princess... Well, that was somewhat more uncommon. Her father had insisted on completing the trial when he'd begun dating her mother, but to Kya's knowledge, no other Firebender had ever been allowed to do so.
In any case, she couldn't turn back now.
"I thought you'd understand, Dad," she groaned, gripping the ropes of the sails as if she were hanging on to a lifeline.
"I understand. I'm just making sure this is really what you want."
Kya turned her head around, meeting her father's eye with more determination that she'd felt in her entire life.
"More than anything."
For all response, her father grinned.
It was on. There was more at stake than their safety if Kya failed. As she steered the sailboat through treacherous waters, the wind against her face was electric, invigorating. It was the same mix of excitement, tenacity and spite that she'd experienced the time her brother Oki had been challenged to an Agni Kai. The challenger had been some brat at school who couldn't accept a Waterbender as his Crown Prince. In the end, Oki had won by boiling the skin off of his opponent's arm, then had shown mercy by healing the burn.
Kya dreamed of a world where everything was just and simple, but the ripples of the long war were still felt. Kya and her brother had become experts at navigating those obstacles, and their parents had been no different.
Ice dodging would be a walk in the park.
When she touched land, safe and sound, Oki was the first one to congratulate her. Her parents hugged her, the few curious children who had gathered to watch cheered. Adrenaline was still rushing through her veins and her head was spinning from the ups and downs the waves and tides subjected her to, but she faced the adults of the tribe with fire in her eyes. Her fire.
And in the end, when the time came for the completion of the ceremony, it wasn't her father rewarding her. That wouldn’t do; this was something else they would have to do their own way. The honor was given to her Uncle Sokka, the beloved Chief of the Southern Water Tribe. His ever-present grin told her all she yearned to know. Kya hadn't needed to prove herself to be loved, trusted, and welcome.
"Well," her uncle started, loud enough that all the present could hear. "You're a woman now. And a strong one, too, but that's only fitting. My sister earned herself this mark when she was your age."
“Get on with it, Sokka” Kya’s mother muttered. “This isn’t about me.”
Both Kya and Sokka chuckled softly, the momentous occasion suddenly brimming with familiarity.
“Fine. There you go.” Sokka’s thumb traced a symbol on Kya's forehead, one she knew too well by shape alone. "Kya, you took this challenge head-on, as you always do. There’s little I can say to do it justice. I award you with the Mark of the Brave."

Currently Untitled Omegaverse Zukka fic idea; the one where Sokka is the Omega and Zuko is the Alpha, also they’re in an arranged marriage
I’m typically a creature of habit, call it being boring, blame my autism, whatever you think it may be, but I generally write Zuko as an Omega in my Omegaverse stories and that doesn’t change. Except for this one.
In which, the war ends earlier, but not early enough. It’s two years after Kya’s death when word that the Fire Nation’s declaration of war has been lifted by the new Fire Lord, the once-known General Iroh. Sokka, Katara and Hakoda are still heavy with grief, unable to reconcile the news with their hearts so throughly shattered. The South can’t exactly turn their nose up at gestures of peace, but years later, when a letter from the Fire Nation Crown arrives seeking an Omega bride for the Alpha Crown Prince, it’s with a hardened determination that Sokka accepts to ensure their still struggling community gains access to the resources it needs.
Warnings: past mentions of abuse of all kinds, Omega slutshaming and Alpha toxic masculinity, racism, and ptsd.
I’ve already explained one side of the backstory just above, but let’s delve a little deeper anyway:
For the most part, canon is much the same with Ursa being forced to do away with Azulon and fleeing, Ozai usurping, and Iroh traveling, mourning as he goes on a spiritual journey. Unfortunately, no one realized how vulnerable this left Zuko, who had already become much of a thorn in Ozai’s side for his general weakness. Ozai is certain that Zuko is destined to present as Omega, and with little regard for his son, he allows some harmful things to happen to Zuko as long as the ones doing it don’t leave any obvious traces. This abuse abruptly ends when Iroh returns and Zuko is once again safe, but only so long as he’s in Iroh’s space, which the prince naturally clings to.
Then the war meeting happens, and while Zuko is still unpresented, his father goes along with the Agni Kai. Iroh can’t stop the fight, but after he has the power to challenge Ozai on the basis of his outright cruelty towards a child. Iroh wins that fight, Ozai is stripped of his title as the Dragon of the West takes his rightful place, and Zuko is now safe though at such a terrible cost.
Azula, shocked by her uncle’s ability to so throughly thrash her father, who she had always believed was stronger, was given a wake up call. She was sent away for a while but when she returned, there was a calmness about her that no one had ever seen before, and a warm strength that had entered her bending that had previously been missing. From then on, she seemed like a steadfast supporter of her uncle and brother, who was still recovering from the trauma of everything happening so fast in his life.
Zuko presented late, nearly 18, as an Alpha, shocking everyone including his uncle who had believed Zuko was a Beta by that point. It was determined that the sexual abuses he had suffered likely stunted his body’s natural presentation, but after he was like a weed, growing quick and strong even over such a short amount of time
It was determined after a year that Zuko should find a mate, and also one that might help strengthen the ties with another nation now that the war had been ended for several years. Anyone of high rank would do, but another royal was best. However, the Princess of the Northern Water Tribe was long mated herself, and the Earth King was a Beta and already had a wife (though it was clear their marriage was also political). Through Iroh’s contacts they received word that the Southern Water Tribe had an Omega of marriageable age that was a child of the High Chief Hakoda. The South so very rarely communicated with the Northern Tribe but this knowledge was at least sound.
Which leads us to the main story: Sokka is 18, just of marriage age when the letter arrives. He’s “made his peace” with his own presentation, though in his earlier years Sokka resented his Omega status. Now, he knows being an Omega means he can have children, but it doesn’t mean he can’t provide for them too. It means he’s expected to run a household, but that means he’s expected to be clever and adaptable. And he’s expected to mate an Alpha, but Hakoda and Katara were always so very clear that it was his choice on who he mated, and so far Sokka had not felt any draw towards anyone in their very small Tribe.
Hakoda is almost immediately going to reply with a negative to the letter but Sokka stops him, telling him it’s Sokka’s own choice and he only needs think on it a moment. Katara is adamant it’s a fake offer and wants to send a very dramatic message back but Sokka insists it’s still his decision first and foremost. And in the end, he decides it’s better for their Tribe. He has no real prospects otherwise and this way, at least he can guarantee his marriage will lead to some good.
Before he leaves, Katara offers to use her bending to basically give Sokka a hysterectomy to ensure he doesn’t have to bear children for the Fire Prince, but Sokka isn’t willing to risk anyone finding out and calling it a betrayal, knowing it would likely be taken out on the Southern Tribe itself. So it’s with lots of frustration and tears that Katara and Hakoda send Sokka on a journey to the Fire Nation to become Zuko’s bride. No one can go with Sokka, as the Tribe has dwindled so small since the Southern Raiders, every body needed for the hunt and fishing, or for tending the small patches of root farms and livestock, or for foraging in the sparse growing seasons. With this marriage Sokka only feels relief his absence won’t harm them further; they’re promised lots of meat and cloth in just the first shipment of goods.
Sokka is immediately overwhelmed when he’s brought to the Fire Nation. There’s just so much around, like every inch not paved over is full of greenery and there’s just bodies everywhere; so many Alpha, Omega and Beta milling about, children screaming and giggling as they play underfoot. Strange creatures he’s never seen before are pulling carts and being ridden, and even his own transportation from the boat to the Fire Palace is drawn by incredibly large reptile hybrids.
The Palace is also overwhelmingly huge. Nothing in the South ever was taller than a single story, unless you counted there being a cellar under a home. Here the buildings could go three, four, sometimes five floors above the ground level. Sokka almost faints from the number of stairs he climbs, but that’s also likely due to the heat. It’s scorching in the Fire Nation, and he hardly has clothing that could be comfortable.
By the time Sokka makes it to the throne room where Fire Lord Iroh, Crown Prince Zuko and Princess Azula are waiting, Sokka feels like he’s about to shatter. Which doesn’t get any better when some Sage or whatever starts talking, droning on and on about political ties and bonds of blood. Sokka is somewhat aware of the darkness clouding around his vision but he isn’t fast enough to stop himself from fainting this time, crumpling in front of the royal family before even all the formalities have been addressed.
Sokka wakes up in a small but open room, a window cracked to let in a breeze and a wet but now room temperature compress on his forehead. Sokka is embarrassed beyond all measure but a sprightly girl, Ty Lee, appears out of nowhere and helps Sokka to sit up so he can eat some plain rice and drink down several sips of water. She explains that she’s a friend of the family and an Omega as well, so it was decided to have her help attend to Sokka before the wedding. He’s grateful for the company but not sure if the wedding is still on after his display. She just giggles at him and says it’s clear he was just so stunned by the handsomeness of the prince that he couldn’t help but swoon. Sokka indulges that assessment if it makes her (and others) feel better.
If anything, Sokka isn’t sure about the prince. He just knew that Zuko had a large burn on his face and that the man was constantly scowling. He was certain Zuko found Sokka wanting in every way, but Sokka felt he couldn’t fully blame the guy. Sokka was pretty buff for an Omega, having packed on muscles as he trained with the other young adults in the village to ensure nothing like the southern raiders ever happened again. And he kept a typical warrior’s wolf tail despite being an Omega. He didn’t have fine dresses or a natural softness about him that spirits tales always seem to box Omega into. He was just… Sokka.
But Sokka was determined to get married to the Alpha Prince. He wouldn’t back down from nerves and put his tribe in jeopardy. But this also means he has to start acting like a true Omega, and while Sokka is up for a challenge it feels also like a life sentence.
There’s a few formal dinners and events Sokka is required to attend before the wedding is prepared. Zuko is always at Sokka’s side for those, but he only takes Sokka’s arm when required and immediately release it once he’s allowed. He hardly speaks to Sokka and usually with monosyllabic sentences. And Zuko never, ever looks Sokka in the eye. It’s both relieving and insulting.
Eventually Sokka confront Zuko for being so standoffish and insists that when they’re married they’re going to need to exist in the same spaces. This only seems to agitate Zuko more and he leaves without defending his actions. He does apologize later but when they don’t have a chance to talk about why.
The wedding comes, and the wedding night approaches, and while Zuko managed to stay at Sokka’s side up until then, he disappears before they head to bed and Sokka wakes up still alone.
And the same thing happens the next day. And the next day. And the next day.
At this point, Sokka is tired of being alone and ignored, so he just… starts doing his own thing. Being an “ideal Omega” has never been his goal in life so he’s just Done. He made it past the hard part, so at this point Sokka is certain as long as he doesn’t truly offend anyone he can start being himself again.
From there I want to explore a lot of themes regarding forced gender roles and stereotyping, and how Zuko and Sokka both have their own issues regarding their secondary genders. There’s also a lot of healing that has to be done. Zuko needs to try and give Sokka a chance, of course, but so much of his reluctance is tied to his own past experiences leaving him terrified of intimacy.
I feel like Azula is gonna be a fun character here too. She’s a lot gentler with her brother and more… accommodating towards Iroh, but she still has her sharpness. Eventually Aang will also get discovered again too, but that will be a while.

Steambaby Week Fanfics
So I've been swamped with work and writing my Zutara / Bridgerton / Pride and Prejudice fic, so I haven't had time to create any new content for @steambabyweek.
But I have rounded up all my existing steambaby stories for your reading enjoyment! FYI, mild spoilers will be referenced, so I'm placing them below the cut both for that and because this post got very, very long...
Technically, I've written about the steambabies in 3 different universes. So I've split them up for clarity's sake, with the most expansive AU at the end.
Color Code: Firebender, Waterbender, Nonbender
SOUVENIRS UNIVERSE
Souvenirs We Brought Back From Ember Island – Zuko and Katara share an intimate evening together the last night at the Ember Island beach house before heading out to confront Ozai and their destinies the next morning, only to discover several weeks later that they brought back a surprise souvenir from that encounter…
Rated M for suggestive content and referenced adult situations, though Chapters 10 and 11 where the steambbs make an appearance are SFW.
Steambabies in this series:
Crown Princess Izumi
Prince Tulok
Princess Kya (not born yet when the story ends, though will end up being a nonbender)
ZK BIG BANG 2021
A Present Fit For A Fire Lady – Fire Lord Zuko struggles to come up with the perfect present for his wife to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Unbeknownst to him, he’s already given them both the best present of all.
As this fic ends with Katara revealing to Zuko that they’re expecting their first child, there aren’t any details about the actual steambaby. However, as this was part of the Big Bang event last year, there are lovely artwork pieces included, not to mention two incredible original songs written just for this story!
THE PHOENIX AND THE DRAGON SERIES
Phoenix and Dragon – Set during the series that I wrote for Zutara Week 2020, back when the pandemic first started and forced us all indoors and I had waaaay too much time to kill. This chapter introduces the first four steambabies and features the announcement that they’re expecting triplets as well.
(Yes, I went overboard when I gave them seven babies in this series – I blame being a new fanfic writer at the time and getting carried away – but like the Bridgerton family, they had a ton of babies because they wanted to, though after #7 they decided they were DONE.)
little rays of starlight– The Fire Lord and his wife take their infant daughter out on a trip to see the Southern Lights during the crown princess' first visit to the Southern Water Tribe. Features protective Dadko fussing over keeping little Izumi warm against the South Pole winter and just overall tooth-rotting fluffiness. Guest appearances by Sukka, who are expecting their first baby in this fic, and Taang, who aren’t engaged yet but will be soon.
The Fire Lord and the Sunstone – takes place when Crown Princess Izumi is just shy of 2 years old. The royal family inherits Druk after the Fire Lord and the Avatar are summoned back to visit Ran and Shaw. A cute fluffy oneshot that has baby Druk becoming fast friends with the eldest steambaby.
A Fire Burning in Her Bones (WIP)– Crown Princess Izumi has always dreamed of someday bending fire or water like her parents, following in their footsteps and making them proud. But when Izumi discovers that she’s a nonbender, she must learn to carve her own path, while learning more about her parents’ history and her nation’s role in the Hundred Year War in the process. I've gotten sidetracked by other fics since the last update, but I will finish this story one day. Hopefully.
Fun Fact: There's a 13.5 year age difference between the eldest and youngest of their kids.
Steambabies from this series, plus some fun facts / trivia about them if / when I ever get around to writing more fics in this AU:
Crown Princess Izumi
Twins - Prince Hanzo and Princess Kya
Prince Shunsui
Triplets - Prince Lu Ten, Princess Ayuko, and Prince Mihiro
Izumi – eldest child and daughter, born 3 years after Sozin’s Comet
Gold eyes, black hair
Name Meaning: fountain, water
Skilled with broadswords, learns from her father and later Master Piandao
Crown princess; introvert; birthday falls in the same week as the anniversary of the War's End, which coincides with her parents’ wedding anniversary as well
Most like Zuko in terms of dry sarcasm; constantly feels need to prove herself especially compared to her prodigious younger sibling Hanzo (essentially a gender-flipped Zuko and Azula sibling rivalry but on much, much friendlier terms)
Favorite subject is history; favorite treat is SWT seaweed cookies
Hanzo – eldest son and the elder twin, born approximately 5 ½ years after Sozin’s Comet
Gold eyes, black hair
Name Meaning: to hide, half
Named as a shout-out to the real-life legendary Japanese samurai Hattori Hanzo/Demon Hanzo. The "Demon Hanzo" nickname also gave me Blue Spirit vibes as well, ngl
Occasionally uses blades with a focus on broadswords
Ambivert; Is the spitting image of his father in his pre-banishment days. Later in the story (not written yet), his older sister Izumi will see a portrait of young Zuko pre-scarring and mistake them for each other at first
Has his mother’s personality - kind and nurturing but will cut you if you mistreat someone
Kya – younger twin
Blue eyes, brown hair
Named for Katara and Sokka’s mother
Outgoing; enjoys fashion and finding bargains during shopping trips with Great-Uncle Iroh
Inherits Uncle Sokka’s (terrible) sense of humor
Enjoys studying art from all over the world
Decent at healing but prefers sparring
Eventually settles down in SWT with her wife and their pet polar bear dog
In later years helps teach waterbending to Avatar Korra
Shunsui – born 11 years after Sozin’s Comet
Gold eyes, brown hair
Name Meaning: spring, water
Becomes a respected healer and opens up several healing clinics
Enjoys the simpler things in life like his Great-Uncle Iroh and develops an affinity for botany as a hobby
Laidback personality; enjoys traveling especially in the Earth Kingdom
Is the only steambaby besides Izumi not to be either a twin or triplet
Like his older sister Kya, helps teach waterbending to Avatar Korra
Lu Ten – eldest triplet, born approximately 16 ½ years after Sozin’s Comet
Blue eyes, black hair
Named for Iroh’s son, Zuko and Azula’s late cousin
Extrovert who takes up pro-bending when he's older
Bi pretty boy who naturally charms the ladies and the men, but has a hidden sweet, shy side
Loves traveling the world along with honorary Uncle Aang, Aunt Toph, and all their brood
Secretly gifted at the tsungi horn but will never admit it
Ayuko – middle triplet and youngest daughter
Blue eyes, black hair
Name Meaning: love, affection, rainbow
I came up with her name because of the rainbow sunshower scene in the story right before ZK announce that they're expecting her and her brothers
Is a naturally gifted bender like her Aunt Azula and the only firebender of her siblings capable of creating blue flames
Introvert who enjoys writing and reading; often seen curled up with a book in the library
A theatre nerd just like her father; is also a talented dancer but too shy to show off her skills most of the time
Mihiro – youngest triplet and youngest son
Gold eyes, black hair
Name Meaning: crown, benevolence, sea
Skilled with broadswords
Trained in swordfighting by his eldest sister Izumi and looks up to her; also learns from Zuko, Sokka, and Master Piandao
Inspired to learn broadswords after watching his eldest sister Izumi fighting with them one day when he’s 3-4
Finds out about Blue Spirit myths during a visit to the Earth Kingdom when he's a child and not-so-secretly admires all the legends and tall tales of the infamous vigilante, much to his parents’ amusement
Enjoys cooking
And there you have it! What can I say, I have a soft spot for Zutara and all their bbs 💜

ZKMonth22 Day 14: Steam Babies
When Zuko and Katara finally did make love, they found such enjoyment in each other that it became a regular occurrence, and eventually Lu Ten’s teasing came to fruition. Katara became pregnant with their first child about a year after they were married. Yue had given birth to their daughter, who because she was a girl had been given the Water Tribe name Lasuh, and learned she was pregnant again around the same time Katara realized she was pregnant.
Katara was glad to go through her pregnancy in tandem with Yue. They’d grown close over the past year, to the point that Yue had asked her to assist in Lasuh’s birth despite the Fire Nation healer’s protests. It was just as well that she had; Lasuh had been born with fluid in her lungs that Katara had carefully been able to draw out with waterbending, saving the child from early breathing trouble. Lu Ten had tried to gift Katara handsomely, but she’d refused. Instead he made Katara the child’s godmother, legally making her regent if something happened to the Fire Lord, his wife, and Lu Ten and Yue.
“Do you really think the Fire Nation would accept a female non-bender as Fire Lord?” Katara asked Zuko once the servant she’d given the signed paperwork to departed to have it filed.
“Anything’s possible,” Zuko said, shrugging. “They accepted a Water Tribe woman as Crown Princess and adore her. Who’s to say they wouldn’t accept her daughter?”
To complete Katara and Yue's tandem pregnancy, they went into labor on the same day, unfortunately keeping Katara from helping with delivering Yue’s second child. Because she’d already had a child, Yue’s baby was born first: a healthy boy they named Shuzok.
Katara’s labor took over a day, and was not without struggle. The baby had somehow flipped the wrong way, necessitating professional intervention, and when the child finally was born it had the same problem Lasuh had had, but was more severe. It took a combination of Katara’s exhausted bending and the healer’s efforts to remove the fluid and allow the child to breathe and give a strong, healthy cry. As soon as their baby cried Katara collapsed, completely exhausted, and fell asleep.
Zuko took the baby from the healers once it was washed and wrapped, and was told it was a boy before the healers returned to Katara. He went to the window of the room, showing his son the light and contemplating names for him.
It took Katara about ten hours to wake up. As soon as she did she was alert, asking for the baby. Zuko, who hadn’t left her side but had fallen asleep, jerked to awareness and turned to the bassinet he’d placed the baby in. He gently scooped up their child and put it into Katara’s arms. She unwrapped the infant’s upper half and laid him against her chest, whispering something about skin-to-skin contact into his lightly spattered hair.
“What do you want to name him?” Zuko asked, moving his chair to be closer to his family.
“We have to give him a Fire Nation name?”
He nodded.
“Do you have any ideas?”
“I thought of Chauzu and Ozuno,” he offered.
Katara repeated the names as though she were tasting them, and looked down at their child.
“Ozuno,” she said firmly.
“Ozuno,” Zuko agreed.
Katara gave birth to two more children in the next decade. Four years after Ozuno was born, she and Zuko had a baby girl that they named after Katara’s mother: Kya. Three years after that they had another son, to whom they gave the second name Zuko had chosen: Chauzu.
Zuko wasn’t surprised to find that Katara refused most of the royal family’s customs for raising children. They weren’t closely in line for the throne, so she was allowed to do as she pleased. This meant the children sleeping in their room with them until they became a certain age, as well as her breastfeeding them herself instead of giving them to a nurse. She also took charge of their early education, asking Zuko to help her teach them traditional Fire Nation and the country’s history. Every summer they visited the Southern Water Tribe for two months, and their children grew up knowing they weren’t just Fire Nation royalty, they were also Water Tribesmen.
“You get along so well with Sokka and the other men, you’d make a good member of the tribe,” Katara teased him after he and Ozuno returned from his first hunt with the men.
“Maybe in another life,” Zuko said, smiling and sending Ozuno to bed. “But for now I like this one just fine.”

bumizumi, slow dancing
In essence there were two of her—Izumi and the crown princess—and over the years she developed a keen sense for which version of herself belonged where. The princess, politically astute and polished, was exactly who was needed at the World Unity Ball, hosted this year at the palace in Caldera.
It was an event of Avatar Aang's invention, meant to maintain friendly relations between the nations, and in order to walk the tightrope between the Fire Nation nobles and the visiting delegations, she would have to be the perfect host.
So she made polite small talk with the local generals and ministers, listened with rapt attention to the stories of Prince Tonraq's hunts and Prince Unalaq's scholarship, spent the appropriate amount of time patting the head of King Kuei's bear and complimenting his horrid daughter. She felt the eyes of her Grandmother Michi on her all the while, waiting for a mistake that she could swoop in and smooth over, but none came. Crown Princess Izumi, her conduct always beyond reproach, was on full display tonight.
But her private self, who won at card games and wrote poetry and went on expeditions to excavate historic sites, began to emerge the moment the avatar's family entered the ballroom.
A grin split her face when she saw Aang show a particularly taciturn group of officials his marble trick, little Tenzin trying to look especially serious beside him. Katara was quickly swarmed by an army of health ministers and practicing physicians, all armed with questions about the public hospital she'd founded. Out from under her watchful eye, Kya quickly swiped a glass of sparkling wine from a serving tray and started chatting up a minister's daughter.
Izumi felt disappointment like a stone in the pit of her stomach when she realized Bumi wasn't with them. She supposed it made sense—he was out at sea with the United Forces. He wouldn't have time to parade around at events like this anymore. But she had still held out hope.
Another hour passed. Then two. Three. Small talk. Court dances. Appetizers on gilded plates. Disagreements diffused and egos assuaged. Grandmother watching.
Then finally, as the evening was winding down, he strode through the doors—his wild hair in sharp contrast with the neatness of his uniform. He walked past kings and generals and courtiers and his own parents, cutting a path straight to her. Izumi knew it wouldn't go unnoticed, nor would the fact that she couldn't manage to hide her smile.
"Red's a good color on you," she said when he stopped before her, remembering their childhood years when he'd had no clue what to wear at such events.
"You wear it better." He flashed his wolf-grin. "Dance with me, Iz?"
There were a million reasons she shouldn't. The court was watching, the world was watching, and there were many who believed the royal household had drifted too far into the avatar's sway.
"That would be unwise," Izumi said as her hand fell into his.
He squeezed it with the utmost tenderness. "Wisdom's overrated."
As soon as they stepped onto the floor, the band switched from a popular court dance to a slow tune from Republic City. When she turned her gaze towards them, Kya was standing by the musicians with her minister's daughter, looking quite pleased with herself.
She let her head rest against his shoulder as they swayed along to the nostalgic strings. "You went up another rank," she said, feeling the cool metal of a new pin against her cheek.
"Sergeant major," he said against her topknot. "It happened after I single-handedly saved a platoon from a giant eel, then grilled it up for everyone. It was the best lunch we had in weeks."
"Your tales keep getting wilder." Izumi chuckled. "Why'd you come tonight?"
"I won a night off in a dice game with the commander." When the music swelled, Bumi dipped her and leaned down so their noses almost brushed. "What I'd give to kiss you right now."
Izumi nibbled her lower lip, her cheeks flushed. "The night's almost over," she whispered. "Meet me by the turtleduck pond later."
"I'll be waiting." He raised her up again and bowed, as propriety dictated, when the music faded. "Thanks for the dance, Iz."
"Anytime."

Felt inspired earlier to draw a Zutara animatic but don’t yet have the equipment or know-how so please enjoy this little drabble instead based off All is Found from Frozen 2:
Ao3 link if any kindly travellers fancy giving me kudos, I’m a sucker for any ao3 interactions!
Katara looked down at her daughter in her arms. She couldn’t stop smiling despite how bone-achingly exhausted she was. Her beautiful daughter, born of fire and water.
She gently rocked her in her arms, her eyes drifting closed as she began to hum the lullabies her mother would sing to her.
“Where the North wind… meets the sea…”
The baby stirred, a slight smile lifting up the corners of her mouth as she snuggled into her mother’s arms.
“There’s a river… full of memories…”
The light from the doorway shifted but Katara ignored it as she gazed lovingly at the baby in her arms.
Zuko stopped in the doorway where he’d been walking by and caught the soft, melodious voice. Was that… Katara? He wasn’t sure he’d ever heard her sing before… He peeked into the baby’s room and saw the two loves of his life.
He felt his heart tug with emotion, any sound catching in his throat at her voice singing the lullaby. He felt himself fall in love with her all over again. He quietly leaned against the doorway so as not to disturb them, unable to tear his eyes away from the beautiful scene before him.
“Sleep my darling safe and sound…”
Katara softly kissed the baby’s cheek, barely noticing as a tear fluttered from her lower eyelashes. She stepped towards the cot and leaned over, placing the baby among the blue and red patterned blankets before sitting in her seat beside the cot so she could admire her daughter, softly stroking her tiny cheeks as she tucked the baby in.
“For in this river all is found…”
One day, she knew her daughter would learn all about her Water Tribe heritage. All about the legend of the ocean and moon spirits that the song was about. Her and Zuko had agreed the little princess would spend some time living at the South Pole when she was old enough and until then she would be taught the songs and traditions of her people alongside the heritage from her father.
“In her waters, deep and true…”
“Lie the answers… and a path for you…”
She wondered if her daughter would be a waterbender like herself, or a firebender like her father, or neither. It wouldn’t matter to her either way. She was perfect.
“Dive down deep into her sound…”
“But not too far… or you’ll be drowned…”
Zuko shivered at the minor shift in Katara’s voice, remembering the cold embrace of the Northern Waters. He’d never forget how formidable the waterbenders were or how powerful his wife was. It was amazing as he watched her now to know that before him was possibly the most powerful waterbender in the world, softly singing to their newborn child. He was filled with a sense of immense pride and gratitude. He’d always be thankful for his first experiences in the Water Tribes. It had been the first time that had really begun cementing his realisation that who he was and who he was trying to be were not the same person. Watching Katara best him, twice, he’d realised how talented the other nations could be and how fierce someone would be to protect their people. How they’d do whatever they had to for their family… Like his own mother he now realised.
Katara’s hand gently lifted to her necklace as she continued singing.
“Yes she will sing to those who hear…”
Her thoughts turned to Yue. All of the Water Tribe songs about the ocean and moon spirits had taken on a much more personal meeting after the Princess’ sacrifice. She held her daughter’s tiny hand slightly firmer, grateful that her daughter had come into the world healthy.
“And in her song… all magic flows…”
“But can you brave what you most fear…”
To think that the Fire Nation had been her biggest enemy… yet here she was. And she couldn’t be happier.
“Can you face… what the river knows.”
“Where the North wind… meets the sea…”
She felt tears prick her eyes and gently removed her necklace, placing it in the baby’s tiny hand. Her voice wavered with the emotion restricting her throat.
‘There’s a mother… full of memory…’
The baby’s hand gripped tightly onto the pendant and Katara couldn’t help the tears that suddenly flowed freely from her eyes as she felt a wave of grief and love wash over her. Her mother would never see baby Kya… but she would make sure her baby knew of her grandmother, and her sacrifice.
She felt a warm hand on her shoulder and looked up in surprise to see her husband smiling lovingly down at her. He crouched beside her and she closed her eyes, a smile at his comforting presence spreading across her face as he softly brushed away her tears and kissed her cheek affectionately before they both turned to watch their newborn.
“Come my darling homeward bound…”
She continued softly.
***
Fourteen years later, Kya stood aboard the Fire Nation ship, looking out towards the distant icebergs. She breathed out snowflakes in the chill air smiling. She looked down at the necklace she had been fiddling with in her hand. Her mother had told her all about her grandmother’s story. She was proud to be able to continue the southern waterbending her grandmother had died for.
“When all is lost…”
She looked up and a smile split her face as she saw the turrets of the Southern Water Tribe come into view. She may have been Crown Princess of the Fire Nation but that didn’t stop her from feeling just as at home with Chief Sokka and Suki as a Princess of the Southern Water Tribe. She lifted the necklace to her neck and tied it on as she smiled determinedly towards her second homeland.
“Then all is found.”

THE FLAMING MOON BADGERS (a FanFiction) Chapter 2
Tumblr media
ALSO I DREW MY OWN FAN ART (but used a ton of references because I can’t draw for shit):
For Lin’s Pose
For Izumi‘s Pose
For Izumi’s hair
For Kya’s leg and Feet Positioning
For Kya’s Pose  plus screen shots from the show
The Flaming Moon Badgers: Chapter 2
It took an hour to walk from City Hall to some nondescript alleyway in Dragon Flats Borough. At the end of the alleyway was a bland and rather flimsy looking wooden door. Kya knocked.
"Password?" a rather low and menacing voice asked from behind the doorway.
"Fuck you," Kya answered.
"I'd be glad to," the man replied opening the door. Lin raised an eyebrow who turned to Kya and shrugged.
"Wait! Isn't she a little young to be competing in pro-bending?" the security guard asked the team.
"She's fifteen. She's my little sister. She's just a midget, that's all." Izumi explained quickly and smoothly with a steady heartbeat and a straight face.
Lin was impressed, but also a little angry wanting to punch the Crown Princess of the Fire Nation in the face for calling her a midget.
"Very well, welcome to pro-bending, little girl," the security guard said bowing to her. Lin raised an eyebrow curiously at him. They walked up to a rather scrawny man sitting at a desk.
"Team?"
"Flaming Moon Badgers," Kya answered.
Lin snorted. "Flaming Moon Badgers? That is the stupidest team name I have ever heard! Moon badgers aren't even a real thing!”
"Hey! What does it matter? We have been champions two years running!" Kya snapped back defensively.
"So? You can still be champions and have a stupid name!" Lin sneered.
"Shut up!" Kya yelled.
"She's replacing Rona?" the man at the table asked.
"Yes," Izumi answered while Lin and Kya continued to stare each other down.
"And her name is?"
"Lina,"
"Okay and will she need a new uniform?"
"Yes please, thank you," Izumi replied.
The man glanced at Lin for her size and then disappeared into a back room returning with a rugsack with two uniforms in it. A grey uniform with green seams and a beige uniform with green seams and a green belt inside."Here you go!" he said handing the bag to Lin who nearly disappeared beneath it because she was so small. "Good luck in the match tonight, you three." the man said with a nod and a wave.
"Come on, Lina!" Kya said grabbing Lin's skinny wrist dragging her along towards their locker room for the night.
"Why did you use a fake name?" Lin asked once they were alone in the locker room, undressing. "My mom wouldn't get mad to see me fighting underground. I mean, she was the Blind Bandit some underground earthbending scene in Gaoling when she was eight until she was twelve."
"Yeah your mom wouldn't get mad, but she's not very quiet about her pride and joy either and we can't have our fathers finding out," Kya replied.
"Good point," Lin nodded pulling her beige shirt and brown shorts off standing there completely naked save for white underwear. "What is this?" Lin asked pulling a long white strip of fabric out of her bag.
"Bindings," Izumi replied. "Come here, let me help you."
"I can tie my bindings myself," Lin said placing one end on her wrist.
"No! The white one is for your chest. The green ones are for your arms."
Lin looked down at her flat self. "But I don't have a chest yet."
Izumi sighed. "You will eventually. You should wear it for the match so you get used to it. Come here. I'll help you tie it." Lin sighed and trudged over to the bench where Izumi sat in her bindings and beige uniform pants with red seams. Lin straddled the bench and sat between Izumi's legs, resting her arms on her head. "Before we go out there, there are a few rules in pro-bending you should know."
"Awwww! You didn't tell me the ass kicking was conditional!" Lin whined.
"It is all to ensure a fair game!"
"Hmph"
"First rule, no sub-elements," Izumi began.
"WHAT?!" Lin shrieked.
"And you can only bend the earth disks provided to you. Not the metal grates or the metal rails or the metal floor," Izumi continued.
"I don't like this game already!" Lin said folding her arms as Izumi finished wrapping her chest and was tying off the knot in the back.
"You cannot reshape the disks or break them in any way, and you cannot bend disks outside your zone,"
"Zone?"
Izumi swung a leg over the bench and Lin did the same. She took a stick and drew an oval in the dust on the floor. "The ring is shaped like this. There are a total of six zones. Three for each team. The goal of the game is to knock the members of the opposing team off the back of the ring. NOT over the sides."
Lin nodded. "If we manage to push all members of the opposing team back a zone, one of these, we can move forward into their territory, making it easier for us to knock them off the back. If we succeed, it is called a knockout and we automatically win the match."
Lin nodded again. She stood up and pulled on her gi and then tied her green belt around her waist just as an attendant knocked on the door.
"Moon badgers, you're up!" The attendant announced.
"Coming!" Izumi called. "Any questions, Lina?" Izumi asked remembering to use the fake name in front of others.
Lin shook her head. "But I still don't think we need the fake names."
"If you're not afraid of what will happen when mine and Kya's fathers find out, then think of this headline in the newspapers of three countries and the United Republic: Crown Princess of the Fire Nation, Daughter of the Avatar, and a Daughter of the Chief Of Police lose a pro-bending match to street rats from the lowest ring in Ba Sing Se!" Izumi said with a smile, bending down to whisper in Lin's ear, waving her arm outstretched in front of the girl's face as if showing her the headline in the window of a bookstore.
Lin's face scrunched up in thought. "That's it!" Lin said firmly, stomping her foot causing the ground to jolt underneath, turning in her place to face Kya and Izumi.
"What?" Kya asked glancing at Izumi who shrugged.
Lin's face leaned forward, and her eyes narrowed into slits, her eyebrows scrunched up and lips pursed. "As long as I am on this team, we are NOT losing, just in case anyone does ever find out who we are..." Lin turned away again and kept walking. Gone was the confusion and apprehension she had while Izumi was describing the rules of game. In its place, determination and calculation took over little Linny's brain as she began to think of all the possible strategies she could employ in this game.
Tumblr maxes out the size of the cut and paste so the rest of it is here.

these are the three steambabies that were in my fic from zutara week! I'm still fleshing them out a bit but I already love them to bits!
all of these are made with this picrew!
Tumblr media
Izumi
Kya's twin
Even though they are both share the title of Crown Princess, Izumi will be the one who takes the throne when she is older
Firebender
She always loved watching her parents bend. She was always drawn to the colorful flames and wanted nothing more than to do the same
Is one of the many reasons why Zuko's hair is greying when he's still only in his thirties because she inherited his knack for running across roofs (now you know how Uncle feels, Zuko lol)
A bit serious at times and mellow, but she most definitely inherited Katara's temper and desire to help others and fight for justice. and she most definitely knows how to have fun! just ask Druk, when he used to be small enough to be draped over her head! See? Fun!
Absolutely loves sea prunes, much to the chagrin of future ambassadors and nobles who visit the palace when she is on the throne and very much do NOT share the same taste
She loves to watch the Ember Island Players and would watch them all day if she could
Because she was the heir to the throne, Zuko was extra mindful to teach Izumi to be a kind ruler who will never even consider hurting her own people. It was one of the hints that she picked up on that pointed to how her father got his scar
Azula was very distant while they were growing up, but Izumi was able to connect with her aunt when she was older and aspired to know her remaining family. They take walks together at least once a week
She rides the mail chutes of Omashu whenever her family visits and nothing and no one can stop her
Tumblr media
Kya
Izumi's twin
The very definition of "I'm funny to hide my insecurities"
Shares the exact same sense of humor as her Uncle Sokka. They get along swimmingly
Waterbender
Was afraid of thunderstorms growing up and thought that made her a weak waterbender, unlike her mother who was always strong and brave
Very much NOT a weak waterbender. In fact, one of the strongest once she was able to overcome the deep-seated insecurity of not being good enough
She has a love for bloodbending. Since she never had the fear of it, Kya developed the art to the point that she noticed something... interesting, like how her father's blood was not the same as her mother's and not even Izumi and Kya's blood were the same! (she provided the stepping stones to the medical breakthrough that there were blood types and how different antigens and the dominance and recessiveness of these genes would determine the blood you could receive and what would be passed down to future generations. thank you, Kya!)
Once she comes of age, Kya almost immediately abdicated her place in line for the throne. She much prefers to be the Fire Nation ambassador to the Southern Water Tribe. it also means she gets to visit her family and play with the otterpenguins! And she doesn't have to wear the stuffy, stiff clothes she's supposed to wear at banquets and parties as the Crown Princess. Furs are far more comfortable
Kya came out to her parents. This caused a chain reaction that ended up creating a section in history books titled "Firelord? More Like Fatherlord" in which Zuko's dad joke is recorded as "Hi lesbian, I'm Dad"
(Katara absolutely hated when he said that. Kya was cackling though because she didn't want them to take it so seriously and it really eased her nerves)

Lu Ten
The baby of the family (so far... if I decide to create more lol)
Nonbender and is incredibly proud of that fact
Begged to be trained under Master Piandao. He quickly discovered to be very gifted in the art of swordsmanship (and painting! it became a hobby of his after he completed his training)
His favorite genre of theatre is romance. The cheesier, the better (but unlike Izumi, he HATES the Ember Island Players with a passion only a child of a theatre-loving nerd of a firelord could have)
His sisters poke fun at him whenever possible. they have done this during Very Important Meetings With Boring People
He's a mama's boy and he will never deny it. even though he can't bend, he still loves to move through the same waterbending katas his mother goes through and used to follow her around wherever she went
Likes to work at the Jasmine Dragon with Grandpa Iroh
Very confident and has a very thick skin (probably because he's gotten so used to a random customer yelling at him to try and make him feel bad that almost nothing bothers him)
When he first learned about his namesake, he had spent a lot of time thinking. Ultimately, he decided to bring honor to a family member who deserved to see a better world. And he gave Grandpa an even tighter hug than usual
Usually very levelheaded and at times a little cocky. but that is instantly overrided by his protective streak for his family and friends
And that's the main steambabies! I hope you like them! 🥺

The Fire Nation Royal Family: Fire Lord Zuko, Master Katara of the Southern Water Tribe, Queen Consort of the Fire Nation, Crown Princess Kya (age 7), Prince Kallik (age 3), and Princess Kira (age 2).
I spent a very long time painting a background for this, and then in the end it looked better with a 2 minute edited AtLA screencap in the background instead. One day I shall master backgrounds, but alas not today.
♥ Please do not repost. If you like it and want to show people, share a link to this page instead. Thank you! | Background from AtLA.

Katara: *hands over steambaby Kya to Aang* Meet your Uncle Aang!
Aang: Actually, I have a little correction to make to that title-
Zuko: *groans* Ugh, Aang, I thought we’ve been over this already-
Katara: *smirks* No, no, I want to hear it. What correction, Aang?
Aang: I would prefer that the crown princess refer to me as Great Great Grandfather Aang.
Zuko: For the last time, Aang, Roku is my great grandfather, not you-
Aang: Roku is the Avatar. I am the Avatar. I am Roku. Therefore, I am your great grandfather. Am I wrong?
Zuko: ...
Aang: That’s what I thought. *throws Kya in the air* Who’s my beautiful great great granddaughter? Who is she?
Kya: *happy babbling*
Aang: *gives Zuko a pointed look* Well, young man, it looks like someone just became my new favorite grandchild.
