31 Days of Halloween: Day 11, The RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, California
As we embark on Day 11 of our 31 days of Halloween, we set sail for the RMS Queen Mary, an iconic ocean liner turned haunted attraction in Long Beach, California. Known for its luxurious past and ghostly inhabitants, the Queen Mary offers a unique blend of history, elegance, and spine-chilling encounters.
Historical Background
The RMS Queen Mary, launched in 1936, was a grand and glamorous ocean liner that epitomized the golden age of transatlantic travel. It served as a luxury passenger ship during peacetime and was later repurposed as a troopship during World War II. After its retirement in 1967, the Queen Mary found a new home in Long Beach, where it became a hotel and tourist attraction.
Ghostly Legends
With her rich history, the Queen Mary has garnered a reputation for being one of the most haunted places in America. Here are some of the ghostly legends associated with this imposing vessel:
The Lady in White: One of the most famous apparitions aboard the Queen Mary is the "Lady in White." Legend has it that a young woman wearing a white evening gown wanders the decks, often seen near the first-class swimming pool area. Some believe she may be the spirit of a woman who drowned on the ship.
Ghostly Children: Visitors and staff have reported encountering the ghostly spirits of children, believed to be victims of tragic accidents that occurred on board. Laughter, whispers, and the sound of bouncing balls have all been attributed to these playful apparitions.
Haunted Cabins: Some of the ship's staterooms and cabins are notorious for paranormal activity. Guests have reported unexplained footsteps, flickering lights, phantom knocks, and the feeling of being watched.
Exploring the Queen Mary
The Queen Mary offers various ways to experience its haunted halls. Visitors can take guided tours that delve into the ship's history and paranormal encounters, or they can opt for the more immersive "Ghost Tour" experience. These tours lead guests through known hotspots of paranormal activity, allowing them to delve into the ship's eerie tales and potentially encounter its ghostly inhabitants.
For those seeking an overnight stay, the Queen Mary offers a chance to sleep in one of the ship's staterooms. Some rooms are rumored to have heightened paranormal activity, offering a spine-tingling experience for those seeking a ghostly encounter.
Conclusion
On Day 11 of our Halloween journey, we have explored the RMS Queen Mary, a majestic ocean liner with a haunted reputation. From the Lady in White to the ghostly children, the Queen Mary is known for its spectral inhabitants who continue to captivate and intrigue visitors.
Whether you choose to explore the ship's haunted history during a guided tour or spend a spine-chilling night in one of its ghostly cabins, the Queen Mary promises a unique and haunting experience for all who dare to set foot on its decks. Prepare for a supernatural voyage and embrace the Halloween spirit as you embark on an adventure aboard this ghostly vessel.

On January 9th 1972 The Clyde built Liner Queen Elizabeth I, caught fire and capsized.
After the decline of the big liners and it's retirement the ship was sold to the city of Long Beach, California, US. It was sold to a succession of buyers, most of whom had unsuccessful plans for her.
Finally the Elizabeth was sold to Hong Kong businessman Tung Chao Yung, who intended to convert her into a floating university cruise ship now called the Seawise University. In 1972, while undergoing refurbishment in Hong Kong harbour, fire broke out aboard under unexplained and suspicious circumstances and the ship was capsized by the water used to fight the fire.
In 1973, the wreck was deemed an obstruction to shipping in the area, and so was partially scrapped where she lay. As I understand it the wreck now lies under reclaimed land as Hong Kong expands.
5,000 highly collectable Parker pens were produced with material recovered from the wreck whilst the flag pole and remnants of her last ensign adorn the wall of the marine police headquarters.
Two recovered fire warning system brass plaques belonging to the ship are also on display at The Aberdeen Boat Club in Hong Kong.
Those responsible for the fire were never identified, although there was speculation that it was actually a case of insurance fraud, or that the incident was related to bad blood between Tung, who was a Chinese nationalist, and ship construction unions, who were mostly Communist.

Here’s a new building block adventure of mine! This replica of a cruise liner took over 100 steps to complete (and some were really difficult to the point I thought I had to give up). Hell yeah I did THIS!

The pictures do not make it justice, believe me when I say it looks a million times better in person.

Evictionism: Cruise Liner Analogy
Picture a cruise liner or your home—when an invited guest, for whatever reason, becomes uninvited and asked to leave, if they refuse - they then become a trespasser. Removing them in the gentlest manner possible is the evictionist position.
On a boat, be it stowaway, or uninvited guest, that means waiting to the next port. Throwing them overboard right then and there would be the Pro-Choice position. Forcing the property owner to take the stowaway the entire trip (9 months), is the Pro-Life position. The eminently reasonable and common sense position is to remove them at the next port of call.
Clarifying even further.. a cruise liner is on the trip for 9 months before it comes to a berth (pun intended). "Ports of call" are short stops on the way. Stowaway, invited guest now uninvited, whatever.. gentlest means possible.
The Tender ("In some ports the ship has to drop anchor some distance from shore. Tenders are covered boats that carry passengers to shore") is the medical/technological aspect. They are involved in ferrying the person(/fetus) to safety. The risk involved in whether they make it or not (viable) depends on the technology etc. and obviously thus time.
So 100 years ago, 'sinking' happened all the time. 50 years ago the odds were better. Right now, (it's probably 22weeks+ viable) and it continues to improve on avg. 1 week every 5 years in this statist environment. 100 years time, the "Tender" should make it every time. You evict at any point and the fetus remains viable. Even if you reject this, it's a continuum problem, it's a technological medical issue, the principle remains the same.

I'm not sure if they will include Barnaby's remaining line in the next episode. I wish they animated the scene as it was in the manga.
Because BOTH Yor and Barnaby ACKNOWLEDGED each other's strength.
Anime:

Manga:

They left out the part where Barnaby acknowledged Yor's strength. For me, the scene in manga had a great impact because it portrayed Barnaby as a character who knows to acknowledge his enemy's (Yor) strength and not just simply acting haughty like a typical bad guy.
