Two things about this episode that have got me thinking way too hard about things that are way too upsetting
Part of the ritual for reviving a dead god is finding a place where a god was created. Like. I dunno. The gym at Augefort where Kristen created Yes! A place that would would be super accessible to Kipperlily, who was asking Jawbone about Kristen’s last god before Cassandra
Zac has been asking a lot of questions clarifying how Lydia Barkrock used specifically her barbarian rage to stop a dead evil god from being revived and a huge aspect of Gorgug’s story so far this season has been his relationship with rage, and we’ve had Porter specifically call out how he only ever uses it to protect the people he loves
I swear if the Rat Grinders try to revive a god that ends up being evil and Gorgug has to use his rage to contain it I will lose my mind I have never been normal about a Zac Oyama character and I wasn’t about to start now but you can’t do this to me Siobhan promised this wasn’t going to be a crying season

Your description of yourself is the guy with Opinions on Steven Universe so say what you think of Peridot
Fond of her. I don't think I've got much to say about her that the more singularly fixated SU analysts haven't gotten to. I will say that she's a pretty salient example of a quote-unquote "redemption arc" that's facilitated in large part by the villain being "redeemed" never having actually caused serious, lasting, unfixable harm before switching sides, such that the story being told in practice is the story of an interpersonally unpleasant person working on themselves and learning to be less of a tar pit- jazzed up with ray guns and cartoonish doomsday devices. This is interesting taken on its own terms, but not necessarily morally interesting in the way the phrase "redemption arc" would ideally imply.
Contrast (unfavorably) with Entrapta in She-Ra, where they're clearly chasing a Peridot-adjacent energy, but the narrative treats the conflict between her and the protagonists as a similar kind of souped-up interpersonal miscommunication when no, she's in fact on the hook for very literal war crimes in a way the narrative was never really prepared to weigh seriously due to the use of a handful of Princesses as a metonym for everything meaningful SPOP is interested in trying to say, to the exclusion of more literal, non-metaphorical worldbuilding. Zuko, meanwhile, sits in a happy middle ground where he genuinely is attached to some morally heinous shit that the show is interested in weighing and unpacking, but not so deeply attached as to become synonymous with it in a way that would make his redemption come across as apologetics. (I sort of use these three as reference points when calculating how annoyed to get at the writing decisions of whatever children's cartoon I'm currently watching- this does not translate very well outside of that space methinks)

okay i LOVE your art and what i presume is your au, but i have no clue what’s going on in any of your comics or drawings.
is there any chance that you could give a lore dump or story dump of some kind?
Eeeeeeee thank you!! I honestly don’t think anybody has a clue what is going on lol
I’d be happy to info dump though!
So my AU -which I call the separation AU- surrounds the idea of pink and human Steven being two different people and Rose’s two children, and came into the world separately. Pink Steven, who is mistaken for Pink Diamond after she gave up her form for him, later takes the name Star, is fully grown at birth and resembles a diamond rather than a Quartz- while Steven is just an infant.
The problem is, Rose had been pregnant and discovered by the diamonds before Steven was born, she was too weak from shapeshifting entire reproductive organs and creating an entirely new life for nine months to fight back, and probably wouldn’t have regardless due to the chance of her child being injured.
So on Homeworld, to protect her child she revealed her old identity (you can find another post answering an ask about this).
Because of many factors, Steven and his gem half were born split apart.
Star had limited knowledge while also way too much, he knew he wasn’t supposed to exist and was also supposed to be apart of Steven, and whether he could fuse with Steven or not, it was simply impossible because of the situation.
So to protect and take care of Steven, he took his mother’s place as a diamond, conforming to White’s expectations.
While he could technically bring Steven to Earth as Rose would have wanted him to, the diamonds would have chased him there and that would have risked the planet. He also couldn’t leave Steven in the zoo or drop him off on Earth because while Steven is viable without a gem, he’s basically a plant relying on Star for energy like a sun, if he’s far from Star’s presence for too long, he’ll wither and die. So abandoning Steven was out of the question.
Fifteen years later, Connie finds herself as a Crystal Gem. The three gems on earth had continued to try and protect the earth for Rose, and Greg had fallen into a depressive state.
The last Crystal Gems never went into detail about Rose. They never told her exactly what happened to the leader of the Crystal Gems and Greg no longer interacted with them.
Connie took Steven’s place in a way, she was the one who befriended and freed Lapis Lazuli, for example. But anyways when Peridot and Jasper came to stop the Crystal Gems from interfering with Peridot’s work, the remaining Crystal Gems had been captured along with Connie. (I’m workshopping the storyline so I’m not sure abt this yet)
While the gems were poofed and bubbled away, Star decided he wouldn’t put Connie in the zoo or return her to Earth.
Steven, being isolated from other human beings and viewed as a pet to a majority of Homeworld, had left him lonely, and Star realized this. So he took Connie in (is what he calls it).
Everything else after that is what I like to play around with. I imagine eventually Connie would convince Steven to help her escape and rescue her friends, but when the three gems see Steven, they also see Rose in him, and are determined to “rescue” him.
Anyways I’m tired of writing, I realize this information comes with a few unanswered questions, so if you have any feel free to ask!

How To Become Great Wizard of the Crystal Cliffs For Fun and Profit (And Dragons)
for @sleepingjasminetea
the copy+paste of the Important General Context Information...
Also a general note relevant to the succession criteria of the majority of the empires. Remember this whole thing, where Pix kind of accidentally changed the formal definition of war in the empires? That had a lot of implications for how royalty functioned in the Empires. While they still absolutely have internal duties and responsibilities and privileges, ultimately their most important job is that they stand ready to defend their empire and its people at all times. Part of this is that they also function as international ambassadors in a way, while most empires also have official ambassadors, the relationships and interactions between the emperors themselves are a very important (sometimes volatile) facet of international relations. A country cannot be recognized internationally as an autonomous nation without an official Emperor/Head of State.
The Crystal Cliffs are actually an Empire that grew out of what was initially a neutral territory.
That still shows in their open door policy, and willingness to welcome everyone, regardless of their origins, though they do not give second chances often or lightly.
The native population of the cliffs are primarily Illagers, some humans, and various hybrids. Most of the people who live there however, come from the other Empires.
They are the smallest empire, from population alone, if you do not count the Undergrove (which is still under construction and has a population of one (1) gnome)
The Crystal Cliffs is a fairly young Empire, originally founded in the aftermath of The Severing (the term for the events surrounding Pixlriff's appointment to Keeper of the Vigil and the Ocean Empire's retreat into the sea.) It was basically an emergency outpost of the mages and scholars of several different kingdoms getting together to figure out "where does this leave us" and "what happens now?". Over time it grew from an international research outpost into a library, then a school, and then, eventually, an independent Empire.
Their high council is made up of Seven Grand Wizards, with a lower council of Nine High Wizards (yes it would make more sense for the titles to be swapped, yes this is brought up at every single budget meeting for centuries) and they are represented internationally by the Great Wizard, who is primarily chosen for their academic and martial prowess.
The candidates for Great Wizard specifically are actually fairly few, due to the focus on more academic applications, most hopefuls aim for one of the council positions, as those are ultimately less likely to cut into your research time.
GeminiTay's ascension to the title is most notably marked for the almost feral single-mindedness with which she pursued it, the "rags to riches" nature of her backstory, and the fact that, once she was awarded the title (after defeating all comers in magical single combat tournament style) she became the youngest Great Wizard ever by a not insignificant number of decades. She attained the position after the mysterious disappearance of the previous Great Wizard, Gandalf, who wandered off one day and just...didn't come back.
He was somewhat known for being eccentric, so it took awhile for him to be declared MIA, which left the Crystal Cliffs in an awkward limbo position politically for a dangerous amount of time. So once she was crowned Great Wizard, Gem got thrown into the deep end. It helped that she had unquestioning support from the new King of Mythland and Count of the Grimlands, as well as the (almost immediately obvious) political leverage of having said rulers come running to her for help at the slightest inconvenience. Which quickly got her the reputation of, if not the official leader of the Wither Rose Alliance, then at least the one with the most influence over the others. (Not taking into account Fwip's impulsiveness and Sausage's...everything.)

This Spinel is something, I do like her mainly because of her design but besides that she doesn’t feel like the Spinel I know imo. Maybe it’s because she acts all pretty like Pearl instead of more being fun loving like the real Spinel. She comes across to me like a pretty girl who can be spiteful at times. Sorry if I sound a bit mean
No offense taken! I enjoy talking about my ethos for writing her. As much as I'm somewhat completely insanely dedicated to consistent character writing even in fanfiction and try very hard to keep her in character it was inevitable that she'd start to drift. Especially with the idea that she has 5,000+ years more lived experience in my AU than she did in canon. And everyone comes into writing with their own biases and experiences. Canon Spinel to me comes across as a child so I try to write Crystal Gem Spinel as more of an adult.
I do give her some Pearlish traits but in my mind it's mostly she thinks she's exuding an air of elegance and class but deep down is the same little rubberhose gremlin she's always been.
Tumblr media
And of course she takes a bit after Pink Diamond, despite not really being aware of that herself.
But I did realize I wasn't utilizing her stretchiness and cartoonishness enough for a while there, I'm doing my best to rectify that :P

Gem park
Crossover SP au(south park x steven universe)
I want to people that don't watch su still understand and enjoy my au so I create this post with some basic info especially for you.
First of all what is gems? Gems are an extraterrestrial species of "magical", roughly humanoid beings. They have incredible abilities and personalities unique to each of them, but they all possess the ability to morph into different forms. Immortal creatures that can die only by one way — through shattering their gem.
In this AU Stan's gang play key roles. Everyone in the gang besides Stan are gems. Stan is half human half gem(human body, needs and blue gemstone in the chest. Maybe some magic powers too)
They live in a little house near forest in quiet tiny mountain town called South Park and fight against monsters and mistakes of the past
Stan has a lot to found out about his mom Sharon, brave leader of Crystal gems, gem culture, himself and love.
And you`ll pass this way with him! Be good companion for Stan and maybe he`ll end his way with less count of traumas!!
