i feel like the "tumblr(dot)com/blog" doesn't work with the desktop/website landscape. it's also completely locked me out of a few older blogs i used to check on.
to top that, new users don't understand that you need to enable custom themes for the og url and it makes it harder to tell if they're real actual people????
why can't *both* be the standard? why is one being automatically forced? is there a reason?
Despite the blog caption, I also absolutely adore Sumiyoshi Kizuki’s early stuff and whatever the hell was going on in the Rocket’s Secret Machine cards. It’s a shame his art got so much more on-model and by-the-books by the XY era, because look at this shit.
Here’s a little accessibility/ease of use Tumblr thing a learned recently:
If you’re going directly to someones blog and they have a custom theme that makes it difficult/impossible to navigate, reblog, like, etc (ahem, like yours truly), swap where you’re putting their name in the URL. For example,
netscapenavigator-official.tumblr.com will give you my blog page under its custom theme.
tumblr.com/netscapenavigator-official will give you my blog page, but with the default Tumblr theme.
This (obviously) only works on desktop for people who use custom themes, but it’s just a fun little thing I found out and often use because a few of my favorite Sims 4 CC Creators have custom themes that behave oddly on my computer’s display resolution for some reason.
hi there today is the 4th anniversary of my jazz/prowl discord server :> every year i announce its existence for its birthday so i'm dropping an invite if youd like to come join our little community :)
does anyone remember the era of tumblr where people wouldn't be able to get "canon" urls so they'd replace a letter in their favorite character's name with a combo that made it sort of look like the name (like "lc" instead of "k" or "vv" instead of "w", ex. "sherloclced" or "claraosvvald"). nowadays urls are references to obscure songs you've based your identity on or a common object that you've decided to romanticize. or even a slur. we're very creative in the modern era
question..... I just made a new side blog but even though I have "enable custom theme" turned on and I HAVE a theme installed on the blog, it's still redirecting [url].tumblr.com to the pseudo-mobile version at tumblr.com/[url] >:/ did I miss a step, or are they trying even harder to phase out custom blog pages (very un-radical)?
i'm going to assume it was done in error due to mass reporting by bad actors (i have seen this happen to multiple tumblr users by now and it's basically always someone who pissed off a terf brigade)
since i've seen those same people get undeleted even after everyone gave up because it had been literal months, i will hold out hope that it will get reversed before too long
they have a twitter that people can keep an eye on for any updates, as well as their patreon
whether other users contacting @wip or support would help or just clog things up, i have no idea (but they have asked that people not do that anyway)
