ohhh myy FUFCKINNGNGG GOOOODDDDDDD

I have been avoiding BFA spoilers story-wise as much as I can because I want to be able to experience the game and its story as I’m playing it. I don’t mind seeing things like cosmetic updates because they don’t usually spoil too much of the story. That being said, I know Bwonsamdi will make an appearance, and there is talk of Vol’jin making an appearance too, but these things were predicted as early as Mists of Pandaria in the Shadows of the Horde book. With the overarching themes of the Zandalari vs the Darkspear and the correspondences between Vol’jin and Bwonsamdi in Shadows, I knew with access to Zandalar they’d show up.

So I have seen the new Grom model, and I have read that the AU Draenor orcs will be joining the Horde. The fact that they have the audacity to refer to them as being “Mag’har” while being from a Draenor in which they did not consume the blood is infuriating. As @mad-maddie spoke of at length, these are not Mag’har orcs joining the Horde; they are THE IRON HORDE. Essentially ALL of the clans are joining, including clans that are still enemies in our timeline (Blackrock, Shattered Hand, Dragonmaw, etc.) There are always dissenters so I’m really not too picky about which clans are which, but anything other than Frostwolf was our enemy IN WOD. THAT INCLUDES GROMMASH. He didn’t drink the demon blood but he did, um, team up with his son from another dimension to churn out siege weaponry and enslave/rape/mass-murder the draenei (I mention rape because Maraad comments on his “angel” Yrel being “defiled”, and it’s not some kind of light-purity-whatever-the-fuck thing because it was mentioned only in this instance and was subsequently cut from beta).

So Grom gets some weird redemption arc where he helps defeat AU Archimonde (alongside Yrel? awkward) and all of a sudden he’s a good guy now. Or something. MAYBE BFA will provide more context for this. MAYBE he has atoned in some way. But what really, really pisses me off is that THIS IS NOT THE SAME GROM!!!! You can’t release an audio drama where AU Gul’dan gripes over and over, “THAT WAS NOT ME!!!” for 45 minutes and then be like “hey everybody look Grom is back.”

If Thrall makes an appearance in BFA again, how the fuck is he going to react to seeing Grom again? AU Grom doesn’t know him. Thrall has a very intimate relationship with the real Grommash. He was with him as he died. They were brothers.

I had a friend who was close to me that passed away about three years ago. Last year at work, I had a customer who looked just like him, down to his patchy beard, gray-blue eyes, and wide frame. My heart leapt into my chest. After I served him, I had to go take a break to cry. It was overwhelming, partially because he looked like him, but mostly because I knew it wasn’t him. I thought about where he’d be right now if he was still with us, and about all the things I did and didn’t say, and that I missed him, and so and so forth. I’ve been thinking about him today, actually, since it’s 4/20, and ironically or not, he loved this day.

Anyway, Thrall gets to live that experience again constantly for as long as AU Grom hangs around. Someone who looks JUST LIKE his deceased best friend/brother, who has the SAME NAME, who is NEARLY THE SAME, but IT’S NOT HIM!!!! They have no history together. They aren’t the same people. What’s Thrall going to do, sit down with him and say “Listen, here’s what MY GROM did,” and that AU Grom is just gonna nod and play the part? If you had some classmate or coworker that kept telling you how much you looked like his ex and you guys even have the same name and are really similar etc. etc. you’d be like FUCK OFF DUDE. I’M NOT YOUR EX. People already can’t appreciate AU Grom for who he actually is because they’re all still obsessed with the real Grom.

HMM IS THIS FAMILIAR SOMEHOW??? TO SOME SHIT IM CONSTANTLY CROWING ABOUT??? WITH GARROSH????????????

Someone even suggested that “Hey, maybe Bwonsamdi brings THE REAL GROM back! Maybe it’s a vision or something, since Grom’s hair is gray, and it’s only been like 2 years since WoD so there’s no way AU Grom went gray that fast.” IF THEY BRING BACK REAL GROM IT COMPLETELY INVALIDATES GARROSH’S ENTIRE FUCKING SHIT. GOD IM SO FUCKING MAD i have complained about this MANY TIMES, AT LENGTH, that Garrosh was LITERALLY ONLY CREATED because the devs couldn’t bring back Grom. That was it. His entire fucking life from birth to death is about how much he was just a shitty knock-off version of Grom and was never good enough to be Real Grom and ARE YOU NOT JUST SHAPING UP FOR ANOTHER VERSION OF THE SAME STORY by injecting an ACTUAL GREAT VALUE™ GROMMASH into the Horde or, worse, Garrosh’s ENTIRE FUCKING LIFE serving only to BRING BACK THE REAL GROM!? Except Grom died green, and the new model is not. So unless he was “purified” of the fel taint or something upon death it’s probably NOT the real Grom but STILL!!!!!!
