You watched as Heeseung twirled the silver blade with his fingers, his eyes staring you down.
The place where he burned your skin with the blade was throbbing. Your body wasn’t healing it fast enough, and probably wouldn’t. If the blade was made specifically for him, the vampire king, the blade was made to kill and leave scars.
You scoffed, a small chuckle leaving your lips.
Heeseung tilted his head, lifting his leg to rest against the chair he sat in, “Want to share with the class what you think is so funny?”
You glanced into the darkness behind him, not wanting to make eye contact with him, “I was told you’re a doctor. How could the vampire king settle for such a low-class job as that.”
Heeseung was at your side in a second, the blade inches away from your neck, “I am a doctor, which isn't a low-class job. I’ve saved lives, helped people, and healed people…It is not an easy job. When you’re stuck living for eternity you should put yourself to good use.”
You rolled your eyes, “But you’re the king, what need would you have to help others!”
Heeseung scoffed, inching the blade closer, “Because I am not the monster I was created to be.”
You sat still, not knowing how to respond to him.
Heeseung removed the blade and sat back in the chair across from you, “When will you answer my questions?”
You shook your head, “When will you stop asking?”
Heeseung chuckled, “You’re in the presence of the actual vampire king and you still want to defy me?”
“Just because you’re a king, doesn’t mean my loyalties sit with you, plus I can tell this isn’t the way you normally are,” You leaned forward as far as the rope tied around your body would let you, “You’re not some tyrant, or someone to torture anyone. This is all an act.”
Heeseung stood from his seat quickly, his golden eyes burning at you. You struck a nerve.
“I will do what I have to, to protect my pack!” he growled, “Unlike you, whose loyalties sit with a man who won’t be coming for you.”
You sat back in the chair, not wanting to believe the words coming from his mouth. You don’t know how long you’ve been trapped down wherever you were, but you know it’s been days, maybe even a week and Dorian has yet to try and find you. You weren’t in a pack with him, so trying to find ways to get him to know where you were or sensing where he is, was hopeless.
Heeseung knew you knew he was right. He could see it all over your face.
There was a knock on the door, and then it slowly opened, Jungwon stepped in.
“Hyung,” He called out, “We are all here.”
Heeseung nodded, relaxing his body and his glowing golden eyes turned back to the coco brown.
You stared at Jungwon, piercing daggers into him.
He side-eyed you, his fist clenching, “Say something.” He snapped.
You smiled, “You’re the leader of the pack yet you still follow behind this king. Shouldn’t you be the king?”
Jungwon smiled back at you, “The king needs his leader, doesn’t he?”
Your smile faded. You knew their pack was close with their bonds, but you didn’t think it would be that tight. Most packs fight for the leadership role.
Heeseung walked out of the room, and Jungwon followed behind him, leaving you alone once again.
“Got anything?” Jungwon asked.
Heeseung shook his head, “The only thing I’ve gotten out of her is she thinks being a doctor is a low job for a king and that Dorian would come for her.”
Jungwon rolled his eyes, “So the same shit.”
Heeseung sighed, “Unfortunately.”
They opened the door that led into the safe room, quickly closing and locking it behind them.
Sunghoon and his witch mate sat at the kitchen table, her jumping up at the sight of Heeseung.
Heeseung narrowed his eyes at her, “I told you to stop that.”
The witch softly smiled, “We do this for our kings and queens in our covens, it’s not a habit I can get rid of overnight.”
Heeseung knew his title coming out to the mates of the pack was big news. Mostly for the witch and the dhampir.
Jake and his mate got into an argument after Heeseung announced his title officially to them.
“I have been in the presence of the vampire king my whole life and never knew?!?! We were all friends for so long!” The dhampir paced back and forth in the living room, “I’ve been so rude towards Heeseung!!”
“My Luna Nova, please calm down, it's okay!”
“No it’s not!” she snapped, “How could you have kept something so important away from me?!?”
The vampire king has been told in legends to be the most powerful vampire, and if the king was in a pack, his power amplified the number of members in the pack.
So to call Heeseung weak is far from the truth.
Jungwon called the others to sit at the table, “We need to make a plan to get Dorian’s followers to spill everything she knows.”
Sunghoon wrapped his arms around his witch, “Why not let the hex girl here use her magical powers to get her to open up?”
Sunoo chimed in, pointing at his elf mate, “My magical girl can help.”
Heeseung disagreed, “Using magic on her isn’t going to work. She’s too strong-headed.”
“I wouldn’t know what kind of magic to use anyways,” the elf added, “Using magic on a vampire is a difficult task, your brains and bodies don’t work the same as others.”
The witch agreed, “You vampires are the undead, you weren’t naturally created creatures to begin with, so to use any kind of magic on you guys would be difficult, like __ said.”
“And I am assuming threatening her is not working?” The dhampir asked.
Heeseung nodded, “Her loyalty is also very strong with Dorian still, nothing will change that.”
The room fell silent. Everyone’s brains are working overtime to figure something out.
“And we have been to Dorian’s compound multiple times over the last week,” Jay pitched in, “Still no traces of him or his followers either.”
Jake covered his mouth with his hands and then his eyes lit up, “Have we thought about checking the farmhouses again? and the town where __ coven was?”
The witch stood up quickly from her chair, “He could have found our underground sanctuary. There’s a library down there along with other magical items.”
Sunghoon stood up beside her, furrowing his brows, “Why are you just now telling us about this hex girl?!”
She rolled her eyes, “Oh shut up bloodsucker!” she snapped at her mate, “It’s heavily guarded and I assumed after Dorian burnt down the town and killed my entire coven that he wouldn’t be able to find it.”
The dhampir quickly pulled her phone from her pocket, “I’m calling Archer.”
Heeseung stood in silence, thinking of how this could go.
Niki shook his leg with impatience, “What if Dorian is there and __ is with him?”
Heeseung patted the maknae’s shoulder, ready to open his mouth but was stopped.
“Archer said he’s felt a force nearby for the last hour!” the dhampir announced.
Niki stood quickly from his seat, “When are we going.”
Jungwon knew from the look on Heeseung’s face what the plan was, “Not everyone is going.”
Niki whipped around, “Hyung!” he begged Heeseung, “If __ is with him!”
Heeseung placed both hands on Niki’s shoulders, “If she is with him, I’ll bring her back. The moment you step foot near them she will run.”
Niki wanted to fight, but didn’t, understanding.
Heeseung looked around the room at his pack, “I will go alone.”
“What? Fuck no! That’s stupid!” Jake yelled.
“Are you fucking crazy?!” Sunghoon snapped.
“Hyung, what are you even thinking?!” Niki and Jungwon asked.
“Listen, Mr. Vampire King,” the witch scoffed, “This isn’t something to do alone!!”
The elf agreed, “You need someone with you!”
The humans even disagreed, “Bring someone with you!”
Heeseung smiled at his family, happy with how big it had grown. Remembering a time it was just the seven of them.
“I have something special to protect,” Heeseung yelled over the chaos, his family settling down, “I have eleven of you to keep safe.” Heeseung had a plan, it just didn’t involve his family.
“Hyung!” Jungwon projected, “What do you even plan to do? Huh? Just walk in there?”
Heeseung smiled again, “When I meant going alone, I meant without you guys.”
Jungwon furrowed his eyes, “I am not following?”
Heeseung nodded his head towards the door that led to you.
You tried to force your way out of the ropes, twisting and turning in every way possible.
You had to make it out of there and back to Dorian. You needed to tell him Heeseung was the vampire king. It would speed the progress of his ruling so much faster.
As if on cue, Heeseung and Jungwon opened the door, Jungwon slamming it shut behind him.
You smile, “Well well, isn’t it the King and his follower.”
Heeseung grabbed the back of the chair, tilting it backward, your feet lifting from the floor.
His face was inches away from yours, his silver special blade was also inches from your skin.
“I don’t have followers, I have a family.” He growled, his eyes burning.
You glared at him, not letting this tactic scare you anymore.
He smirked, letting a small breath out as he clicked his tongue, “We are going on a little trip, if you behave you’ll get to die with Dorian at your side.”
Before you could say a word, Jungwon covered your mouth with a cloth. Your head spun and your eyes slowly closed. Your world going dark.
You woke up to the sun shining down on you. You slowly sat up, your head still spinning.
You took in the area around you. The grass was burnt and the smell of burnt flesh filled the air.
You quickly covered your mouth the more you looked. Houses were burnt to the ground. Bodies spread throughout the land.
“It’s a sad sight, isn’t it?”
Heeseung’s voice made you jump. He was knelt, a patch of dead grass in his hands.
You could see the pain on his face, “What happened here?”
Heeseung sighed before turning his head to look at you, “This is what Dorian did. He destroyed this whole village and killed an entire coven, just to get the secret to the powers he wields now.”
You shook your head, not wanting to leave it, “He didn’t do this! He said he threatened them and took what he wanted!”
Heeseung softly chuckled, “This whole area is proof of what he’s done. The only one who survived this incident is the witch in my pack, she lost everything because of Dorian.”
You wanted to argue back, that you knew Dorian better than anyone else. He’s the one who turned you into a vampire after all. Found you after you were almost murdered in the street by some criminals, he saved you and took you in. It’s clear to you that the soft side of Dorian was a fake. That this was his true nature.
“Stand up,” Heeseung Demanded, pulling you up by your arm, “Your lord and savior Dorian is in the secret underground library fixing to steal more magic from this lost coven, and you’re going to help me stop him.”
Heeseung pulled you forward, his hand tightly wrapped around your arm.
You listened to every demand, all the fight left in you was gone.
The entrance to the hidden library was no longer hidden, proof in itself that Dorian was inside.
Heeseung pushed you along, making you go down the steps first into the darkness.
Small candles sat on the walls to light the path, sending you both down until the path became flat, a brighter light shone down the pathway that led to the opened door of the library.
Heeseung’s grip on your arm got tighter. Dorian was down the hall and you were terrified of what to expect.
“How nice of you to join us,” Dorian said as you both walked into the small library, his face planted in the book in his hands, “I was starting to worry when we’d meet again.”
“You knew we were coming?” Heeseung scoffed, slowly pulling his blade from his pocket, “That means you have my youngest mate with you, ya?”
Dorian closed the book, his shit-eating grin plastered on his face, “My dear __, please say hello to our guest.”
The young vampire walked around the bookshelf, a couple of books held close to her chest.
Heeseung grinned his teeth. He could feel the pain she was feeling being away from Niki, her swollen eyes said it clear enough. She hasn’t slept since being pulled away from him. It was eating her alive.
“__,” Heeseung called to her, “You don’t have to side with him!”
She looked away from him and down at the ground. Heeseung could see the battle she was facing. To drop everything and run towards him to return to Niki’s side, or to keep her loyalty to Dorian.
“Please, Niki needs you.”
Her body shook at the sound of her mate's name, and she took a step forward towards Heeseung, only for Dorian’s hand to lift, making her stop.
“She belongs to me,” Dorian chuckled, “You can’t just take what’s mine.”
“She doesn’t belong to you!” Heeseung snapped, his fangs starting to come to a point, but not fully, “She isn’t bound to you!”
You couldn’t bring yourself to look at Dorian, you felt the betrayal of getting yourself captured, but also the betrayal that he’d destroy a whole village and coven, just for his gain.
You then had the idea to expose Heeseung as the king, hoping that maybe Dorian would take you back.
“How about a trade then?” You said, finally looking up at Dorian, begging him with your eyes, “Take the good-for-nothing girl who mated with the enemy and give her to Heeseung to trade for me.”
Heeseung could smell your bullshit, his blade quickly pressing to the side of your jaw, the same side he already burned.
You bit your tongue to keep from crying out, trying to keep your composer, showing proof you were still useful to Dorian.
Dorian threw his head back in laughter, “Oh this is great! Y/N, do you think I would trade you for __? She’s mates with their youngest, she can help sense where they are if they come near me. What good are you for?”
The pain from Heeseung’s blade no longer affects you after Dorian’s words.
Your knees gave out, dropping your weight to the floor. Heeseung let you fall.
Heeseung was more pissed off now, “Give my pack member.”
Dorian shook his head, “She’s useful to me.”
Heeseung tightened his grip on his blade, looking back at the young vampire, “__, choose the side that’ll take care of you,” he softly spoke, “You’d have Niki again. You’d have a support system, a family.”
Heeseung could see the gears turning in her head. The way her heart rate picked up and the grip she had on the books in her hands, her knuckles were white.
Dorian could see it too. The betrayal that was about to happen.
She used all her strength to tear the books in half and throw them to the floor. Heeseung knew she was choosing him.
But Heeseung could also sense what was about to happen.
Dorian reached out, his hand gripping her neck and lifting her off the ground.
“You idiot! After all I have done for you!”
Heeseung acted fast. Using all the strength he had into a full sprint. The blade made contact with Dorian’s wrist, slicing his hand clear from his arm.
Heeseung quickly grabbed __, tossing her off to the side and out of the way.
Dorian screamed in agony, his hand gripping the nub of his arm, the sizzling sound of his skin burning echoed with his screams.
“What kind of weapon do you have there hmm?” Dorian said through gritted teeth, “For it to be so strong to cut through my limb and burn it so quickly that not even a drop of blood fell.”
Heeseung held the blade up, ready to use it once again, preparing for Dorian’s next move, “When you’ve lived as long as I have, you improvise on weapons to be created to help protect yourself and your family.”
Dorian evilly laughed, “You and this family bullshit!”
Heeseung heard enough and swung his blade back at Dorian.
Only for the next turn of events to surprise Heeseung.
Dorian jumped backward, transforming into a bat.
“Well that’s not something you see every day,” Heeseung hissed.
A chuckle came from the bat before he speedily flew out of the library.
You saw this as your opportunity to run, but your legs wouldn’t move.
Dorian made it clear he didn’t want you or even need you.
The young girl knelt to your side, softly touching the burn on your jaw, “Heeseung!” She called out, “She’s not healing!”
Heeseung knelt in front of you, taking your chin between his fingers, tilting your head to the side, “It will with time. But the scars will remain. My blade wasn’t made to heal.”
Heeseung dropped his hand, staring at you and your lost face.
You refused to look at him.
Heeseung scoffed softly, and stood up, walking away from you and towards the door.
“__,” he called out, “It’s time to go. We have things to discuss and I need to return you to Niki’s side so the bond doesn’t do any more damage to either of you.”
She stayed by your side, her hand settling on top of yours, “We can’t leave Y/N here.”
Heeseung raised a brow, “Why the hell not?”
The girl’s eyes pleaded with him. Heeseung wanted to say no. It wasn’t in his playing cards to return home with the follower of Dorian.
“Please, Heeseung,” she begged, “Y/N helped take care of me and treated me as if I were her sister, just like you do with Niki as a brother!”
Heeseung clenched his fist. The thought of bringing you back made his skin crawl. But he also knew leaving you here wasn’t something Heeseung would normally do. He can’t leave someone who needs help behind.
He relaxed, looking away from the girls.
The young vampire knew Heeseung agreed to bring you along.
“Y/N, let’s go.”
You wanted to protest, to demand to be left alone. There was nothing left for you.
You pushed __ away.
To your Surprise, Heeseung was back at your side, pulling you up to your feet.
You stared up at him, eyes locking together with him.
A shock was sent down your spine, and by the look on Heeseung’s face, you knew he felt it too.
He let go of your arm, stepping a few steps back, running a hand through his hair, “Let’s go. We need to get back.”
You fell asleep in the backseat. Your left side leaned against the car door as you slept.
Heeseung stared at you through the rearview mirror, watching as your chest raised and fell with every breath. The burns on your jaw are still a bright red.
His heart raced looking at you. His hands softly loosen their grip on the steering wheel.
“Your heart rate better be picking up pace because you feel like shit for hurting her!” the young one hissed.
Heeseung glared down at the youngest pack member, “Why would I feel bad? She tried to hurt my family. My only goal today was getting you back and killing Dorian.”
She rolled her eyes, “You were going to kill her too! I could feel your kill lust, Mr. Vampire King.”
Heeseung quickly looked at her, “How did you know that?”
She glanced out the car window, “The moment Niki and I bonded together, I could feel just how powerful your, well our, pack is. It wasn’t hard to put together.”
Heeseung looked back at the road, “Dorian doesn’t know?”
“No. He still believes the old king is still in power,” she looked at Heeseung, “How long has the old king been dead?”
Heeseung dodged the question, “Why didn’t you tell Dorian if you knew?”
She looked back out the window, dropping her head into her hands, “I couldn’t betray my pack like that. Even if I wasn’t officially in the pack at the time, I couldn’t hand over that information so easily to Dorian.”
Heeseung knew she did it to protect Niki, and left it at all.
You all pulled up at the safe house, Niki being the first one out of the house and at the passenger side door before the vehicle even came to a stop.
“Oh my god,” Niki breathed out, pulling __ from the car and into his arms.
Heeseung watched the maknaes embrace each other. Their bond is fully completed. The warmth of their love soothed everyone.
You stayed in the car, watching as the young ones held each other tight. The other ones with mates follow suit, embracing their mates close to their bodies. Holding onto them tightly.
Heeseung looked over at you, watching as you watched his family.
His heart pulled to you, and he knew there wasn’t any stopping this, even if he tried.
Heeseung reached over and tapped your knee, your attention being put on him.
“If you want to run tail back to Dorian, be my guest, I am not going to force you here.”
You looked deeply into his eyes, scared of what this feeling was that was pulling you to him. You sat in silence, not knowing how to even respond to him.
Heeseung rolled his eyes, removing his hand from your knee, ready to turn back around and get out of the car.
You reached for his hand before he could, causing him to turn fully back towards you, “I can’t go back to Dorian,” you whispered, “He would just kill me the minute I got too close.”
You rubbed your thumb over the top of his hand. Half of Heeseung wanted to rip his hand away from you, the other half wanted to close his hand tightly around yours.
“Why haven’t you killed me?” You finally asked, “You’ve had plenty of time to do so.”
Heeseung tucked his lips between his teeth, debating on even continuing this conversation.
“Because you were right,” he sighed, “When you first said this wasn’t who I am, some tyrant who tortures people…that’s not me.”
You could see the hurt behind his eyes as he said this.
Heeseung is a powerful king who has a pack of twelve under his thumb, being the most powerful vampire mixed pack in the world. Every other king that has ruled, did so with thousands of vampires at his side and was a solo hunter. Heeseung has single-handedly outdone every king before him.
Yet his undead heart was still so pure and full of life. He became a doctor to help others…no wonder no one knows that the old king is dead and that he was the new one. Heeseung never once gave any hints he was a king.
You held his hand tightly, looking down at the rings that wrapped around his fingers, “I will follow you.”
Heeseung furrowed his brow, “What?”
“Did I stutter?” You said, making eye contact back with him, “My loyalty is with you now.”
Heeseung looked away from you, shaking his head, “You’re only saying that.”
You squeezed his hand, “No I’m not. I’ve seen what you can do, and I know what you can accomplish. Plus you need me if you want to kill Dorian.”
Heeseung glanced at you, “I am listening.”
“I know what his plans are, and where he will be hiding next.”
Heeseung’s heart was telling him to let you in. To bring you close and never let you go and end Dorian once and for all, after all the harm he has done. But his brain was telling him differently. To let you in long enough to set the goals to kill Dorian and let you back out into the wild.
“What reason do you have to kill Dorian and join forces with us?”
You slowly blinked at him, “The things __ and myself have had to endure while living in that compound…being brainwashed into thinking he cared for us…” You shook your head, trying to push out the terrible memories that you’ve suppressed, “I want him dead just as badly as you.”
Heeseung nodded, closing his hand around yours, “We have a lot to discuss then.”
“WOAH NO WAY!?” the witch slapped her hands onto the table, her long black braid hair flipping behind her as she stood up from the seat, “You’re telling me you vampires can’t turn into bats on your own?!”
“Oh shut the actual fuck up!” Sunghoon hissed, grabbing his mate's arm and pulling her back into the chair.
You confusingly glared at the witch, “He got the spell to turn into a bat from your library…?”
Sunghoon sighed, “Just ignore the hex girl, she’s being stupid. Said the same shit when she saw my reflection.”
The witch quickly whipped her head to her lover, her black nailed fingertips gripping his chin, pulling towards her, “Watch your tongue bloodsucker, I might hex you.”
Sunghoon smiled warmly at her, quickly planting a small kiss on her lips.
You looked away from them, only to see every couple in the room either in each other's arms or hands tangled together.
What have you gotten yourself into?
Heeseung cleared his throat, “We need a solid plan before chasing after Dorian. He has more tricks up his sleeve than we thought.”
You softly scoffed, trying to hold back a laugh.
“Something funny, public enemy number one?” Sunghoon raised a brow, “I don’t think you have any reason to be laughing.”
“Sunghoon!” Niki’s mate snapped, causing glares from Sunghoon.
“Nah,” he shook his head, “You both worked under Dorian’s thumb and are the reasons for all the bullshit we have gone through.”
“Baby,” the witch said, wrapping her small hands around his bicep, “They were brainwashed, mostly __. If she could have run away from Dorian I am sure she would have. Mostly after meeting Niki. She was protecting him. Just like you would have gone to hell and back to protect me.”
Sunghoon slumped down into his chair, letting his mate win.
Sunoo on the other hand, didn’t let the conversation end.
“No, but, I still want to hear what Y/N thinks is so funny?” Sunoo clasps his hands together, leaning forward against the table, “What could be so funny?”
You glared between Sunghoon and Sunoo, both their eyes glued to you.
“You are all the strongest pack in the world, following under the fucking vampire king!” you snapped, pointing a finger at Heeseung, “What other plan do you guys need to kill Dorian?!”
Heeseung slid his hands into his jeans pockets, tilting his head up, looking down at you, “Because I am not going to use my title as an act of power. I have a family to protect and cannot just go head first into a war.”
Jungwon continued, “We don’t know what tricks Dorian has up his sleeve like Hyung said. We could walk into a trap and get us all killed,” Jungwon pulled his mate close to him, “Unlike you, Y/N, we have something bigger to protect besides just ourselves.”
You were defeated. You couldn’t feel the bond that they all share, you would have no way of understanding. You’ve only ever looked out for yourself.
Heeseung knew this conversation was going nowhere but in circles. He glanced up at the clock on the wall, the hands hitting midnight.
“Let’s call it a night,” He yawned, “Most of us have jobs and school tomorrow.”
Niki and __ both groaned.
“Jesus Christ there’s two of them now.” Jay sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers.
“Is sending them two to school the best course of action?” Jake chimed in, “Wouldn’t Dorian know where to look for them?”
The elf jumped up, “Nope! I amplified my scent-covering spell with the help of our witchy friend, all our scents have completely been covered. Hee, Jay and I can return to the hospital, Niki and __ can return to school, and the others…can do whatever it is you guys do.”
Jungwon clapped his hands, “We will split into search teams while those with jobs work and the teens are at school,” he glanced over at you, “You’re going to be stuck with me and Jake tomorrow.”
“Lovely,” you whispered.
Heeseung stood up, and by reaction, you did also, causing the rest to look at you weirdly.
“He’s the king…do you guys not…react?”
Jake chuckled, “We’ve known this man since way before he became king, we don’t use formals with him.”
Heeseung raised his brows, “Wow okay I am going to bed.”
Heeseung made his way out of the kitchen, before popping back up quickly, “Make sure the teenagers sleep in separate rooms.”
“Hyung!” Niki snapped, his face flushing.
“Your mate and Y/N can share a room.” Jay added in, “We have enough spares for them to share a room.”
You agreed, not wanting to sleep alone anyway.
Jay’s mate shows you and __ to the room. Two twin beds sat on opposite sides of the room.
“Thank you,” you said, giving her a small smile, but your smile faded once you saw the bite mark scars on her neck, “Dorian did that, didn’t he?”
She quickly covered her neck with her hand, “Yeah…he did. If it wasn’t for Jay and the others nearby, I would have died.”
You wanted to apologize but knew apologizing wouldn’t be good enough. No amount of sorry will fix the mess Dorian created.
So you settled for a nod and walked into the room. The young vampire follows behind you.
You pulled your jacket around your body, as you knelt to the ground.
Watching as Jungwon and Jake drank from their blood bags.
Jake caught you staring. You quickly looked off into the distance.
“Have something to say?” Jake asked between sips, “If you want a bag just ask.”
Jungwon reached into the cooler bag pulling a blood bag out and tossing it to you, “You need to drink, looking kinda pale.”
You held the bag in your hands, watching as the dark liquid fell to one side.
“Problem?” Jake asked, bringing you back to reality.
“No,” you shook your head, “Thank you for the blood.”
Jungwon and Jake watched carefully as you ripped the bag, drinking the blood down.
“You’ve never drank from bags, huh?” Jungwon laughed, clearly teasing you.
You nodded, “Dorian made us hunt for our meals, I am honestly surprised __ was able to take to the bags so easily. She was the only one out of us who drank from bags.”
“Well when you’re stuck as a teenager forever and have no choice but to attend school, you can’t kill your classmates.” Jake shrugged.
You sighed, “She still drank from humans, just not her classmates.”
The conversation turned awkward.
“Well, I have to piss soooo…” Jake stood up and ran off in the distance.
You finished your blood bag, handing the empty plastic back to Jungwon, “Thank you.”
Jungwon nodded, “We need you at your highest strength if you plan to stick around long enough to kill Dorian and be on your way.”
You didn’t know how to respond to that. How could you tell the leader of this pack that you want to stick around even afterward? That you want to serve under Heeseung.
But you knew they didn’t work that way. There wasn’t anyone from the outside that was with them besides __ twin brother, but that’s different.
Jungwon’s giggles pulled you out of your thoughts. He held his phone in his hands as his thumbs went from zero to a hundred typing a message.
“What’s funny?” you decide to ask, to clear the silence.
“__ sent me a cute photo of herself saying she misses me.” He smiled brightly, “I want to return to her as quickly as possible.”
You couldn’t help but smile at him, “It must be nice to feel love like you guys do.”
Jungwon slid his phone back into his pocket, his smile growing even wider, “It is. I knew from the moment I met her that she was someone I needed in my life.”
Your heart cried out for them, “I am so so sorry, Jungwon.”
He looks at you, confusion written on his face, “For what?”
“For what Dorian has caused,” You tried to hold back your tears, “I was hunting with him that night, and he randomly disappeared, just to come back later talking so much nonsense about a girl he wanted. How she was important to his plan, I encouraged him to find her. I have no idea she was a part of your pack at the time, or else I wouldn’t have said anything.”
Jungwon looked away from you, his lips between his teeth. He released a sigh before returning his eyes to you, “Don’t apologize for something you have no control over. It’s my fault this mess happened.”
You narrowed your eyes, fixing to protest when he held a hand up to stop you.
“I brought __ to the clearing that night,” he took a deep breath, “I could have taken her anywhere else, and I chose that place. Her blood is just…” Jungwon rolled his eyes as if he were in a daze, “The smell of it drove me crazy. The sound of her heart beating. It was all like a drug to me. I wasn’t thinking straight.”
You could tell how badly Jungwon was beating himself up over what happened.
You placed a hand on his shoulder, the leader side-eyeing you, “But you still have her,” you consulted him, “She’s alive and breathing because you met her, who knows what would have happened if Dorian got to her first before you did.”
Jungwon nodded, “I know, and Dorian will pay for even attempting to touch her.”
Jake suddenly appeared again, “I think we should call it a day,” he placed his hand over his heart, “I need to return to my dhampir.”
Jungwon checked his watch, “Yeah it’s getting late. The teens should be back from school. Heeseung, Jay, and __ should be returning from the hospital too.”
Another night worth of discussing plans to stop Dorian and find his other hidden locations was an endless circle.
You and the young vampire told the group about multiple different buildings and compounds that he owned and could be at.
“Since he knows we are coming for him now,” the maknae girl said, “He’s more than likely going to be moving around between them all.”
“So it’s a game of catching him at the right place.” Jay groaned into his hands, “Why can’t this ever be easy.”
Jay’s mate stood behind him, her arms wrapped around him tightly, “We will find him, just keep pushing.” Jay nodded, taking her hands in his.
The dhampir bit her nails, her brain’s gears moving quickly, “Archer has also been searching the areas and hasn't caught his scent or presence either.”
You couldn’t help the lack of Heeseung at the table or even in the house. The chair he normally sat in was empty.
“Where is your king?” You finally spoke.
Jay glanced over at the empty seat, “He got caught up at the hospital. An emergency surgery got scheduled and he just happened to be the doctor that was there when the patient was rushed in.”
You nodded, still in awe that these vampires were even remotely okay with being in a hospital.
Jungwon rubbed his temples, “I say let’s call it a night,” he stood from his seat, “Sunghoon, the dhampir, and Sunoo are on search duty tomorrow.”
Everyone nodded in agreement and made their way to their rooms.
You woke up in the middle of the night, seeing __ slowly tip-toeing her way across the room.
You quickly sat up and turned the lamp on, her freezing in place.
“Sneaking off?” You crossed your arms.
She slowly turned towards you, “Oh no, absolutely not.”
You raised a brow, “You’re literally a seventeen-year-old, what else would you be sneaking out of the room to do?”
She shrugged her shoulders, “Late night snack?”
“Get back in bed, __. If you get caught in Niki’s room...”
“Then guard it for me!” She quickly said, “Stand in the hallway and if you hear any signs that someone is awake, tap the door once and I’ll rush out. Easy!”
You disagreed, “That sounds like a terrible idea!”
Yet you found yourself sitting on the floor beside Niki’s room.
His room was only down the hall from yours, so it wasn’t like across the house that you and __ would have to escape to.
You listened to the giggles coming from the teens. Their whispers talked about their school day and how well soccer was going for Niki.
You couldn’t help but smile, being very happy that __ was able to find happiness outside that damn compound.
You were so distracted by the teens, you didn’t notice that a bedroom door was opened, and someone was standing in the hallway.
Not just anyone. Heeseung.
He didn’t notice you at first. His bare feet tapped against the floor. His shoulder hangs loosely around his hips. The only thing he had on was a towel wrapped around his shoulders. His perfectly toned body is on full display.
You tried to control your breathing but then remembered everyone in this house was some kind of mythical creature with good ass hearing.
Heeseung turned and looked at you, his brow raising, “What the hell are you doing on the floor?” he whispered.
You tried to find the right words to say without giving away what was happening.
But Heeseung’s eyes darted between you, and the door beside you.
Heeseung rolled his eyes, carefully making his way towards you.
You quickly and quietly stood up, placing your hands against his chest, “Shhh!!” you whispered, “Nothing is going on I promise.”
Heeseung stared down at your hands against his bare chest, then slowly made eye contact with you.
You realized what was happening, and quickly removed your hands from him, “Sorry,” you said, hushed.
“What are they doing in there?!” he aggressively whispered.
“Being two kids in love,” you whispered back, “They aren’t doing anything they shouldn’t.”
Heeseung went to take a step around you, only for you to follow.
Heeseung smoothly wrapped his arm around your waist, pressing you against the wall without making a sound.
His free arm lay above your head, the other slowly squeezing your hip. His face inches from yours.
“Why are you trying to protect them?” he whispered, his eyes scanning your face.
You laid your head against the wall, “Their lives were taken from them way too soon. Trapped at the same age while the world grows and changes around them. Let them be kids.”
Heeseung pressed his forehead against yours, his breath hitting your lips, “What is the safe word you two agreed on?”
You rolled your eyes, “You're seriously not going to let them be?”
“The code, please,” he growled.
You submitted, “Tap the door once.”
Heeseung released his grip from your waist, lifting away from you, his left arm still above your head, keeping you trapped.
He barely tapped on the door, it opened a second after.
“Oh…Heeseung…” The young one whispered, the embarrassment on her face.
Niki groaned in the background, “He’s going to kill me.”
She looked between Heeseung and you, confusion on her face.
“Both of you go back to bed,” Heeseung barely said above a whisper.
She nodded, carefully closing Niki’s door and walking down the hallway.
Heeseung fully moved away from you, shifting his head in the direction of your room.
You nodded, slowly walking away.
“Y/N,” he whispered to you. You turned and faced him, “All our lives have been taken from us way too soon,” he gripped the towel around his neck, “None of us will get to fully experience life the way we should have.”
You didn’t know what to say, all you knew was he was right.
“We just have to make the best of it,” was all you could say.
Heeseung nodded, “I am not mad about tonight. They will find ways to be together. I’m just a protective big brother I assume.”
You understood where he came from. __ was like a younger sister to you. And after the way she betrayed Niki, you knew Heeseung only was doing the best he could for the younger one.
“Go to bed your highness,” you teased him, slowly walking down the hallway and into your room.
Your heart racing at the full realization of the state Heeseung was in. How you touched his bare skin.
Chills went down your body.
Heeseung smirked at hearing how fast your heart rate went up. He made his way into the bathroom for a nice shower after his long shift.
You followed behind the elf as she led you to Heeseung’s office.
She yawned into her hand, saying how busy of a day it’s been already.
You could only nod. You couldn’t help but feel inferior to the other women in the pack. Mostly because Dorian is the reason why most of them were even put in this spot, to begin with, and since you followed behind him…you were part of the problem.
Another doctor came up to her, asking for help on a patient, and she immediately accepted.
“Y/N,” she turned and gave you a big smile, “Doctor Lee’s office is that way,” she pointed down the hall, “It’ll be Doctor Park’s office first and then a few more doors down will be Lee’s.”
You nodded, watching as she walked back in the opposite direction.
With a sigh, you continued down the hall.
You stopped and peeked inside Jay’s office through his door window. His mate sat on his desk with both hands on either side of her.
She was smiling so wide with him as he pressed his forehead against hers, their nose slightly brushing together.
You softly smiled, then continued a few doors down to Heeseung’s office.
Heeseung was typing away at his computer, looking back and forth between some X-ray scans and the computer screen.
You knocked on the door before opening it, Heeseung slightly glanced up at you and then back at the scans.
“What brings you here?” He asks, rolling his chair over to his counter, and placing the scans on the backlit wall, the bones from the X-rays becoming more apparent.
You closed the door behind you, taking a small glance around his office, “Jungwon sent me to get more blood bags.”
Heeseung groaned, “Shit, I forgot.” He typed something quickly on his computer and stood up, “I will go grab the box. Be right back.”
With Heeseung gone, you took the time to look more around his office.
His doctor's license and certificate from graduating sat in one massive frame.
A few drawings that you assumed were given to him from children he had helped.
Multiple different pictures hung on the wall. A bunch were of him and the pack. Only one looks recent. Recent as in before the events with Dorian.
The seven of them looked happy with pure smiles on their faces. It warmed your heart knowing that they were able to smile like that.
One picture caught your attention. It was a painting. Hung in a really old frame. The painting itself you could easily tell was very old. Yellowish tint from its age shown with some paint in areas peeling.
Heeseung was in the painting with what looked like his parents and an older sibling.
The four of them had smiles, but for some reason, it broke your heart.
You wanted to reach out and touch it but quickly pulled your hand back when the office door opened.
“Okay,” Heeseung trailed in with a massive box in his hands, “I was only able to fill up one box. I’ll have to bring the other home later.” Heeseung used his foot to kick the door closed.
He set the box down on the counter, dusting his hands on his black slacks.
“Sorry it took so long, another doctor walked in—,” Heeseung turned and looked at you, his face growing concerned, “Y/N, what’s wrong?”
You tilt your head to the side, “Hmm?”
Heeseung walked over to you, “You’re crying.”
You quickly touched your fingertips to your face, feeling how wet your face was.
You quickly wiped the tears away, but they kept continuing to fall.
“Hey hey hey,” he said, his hands removing yours from your face and replacing them with his. His soft palms cupped your face, his thumbs wiping away the tears, “Y/N, what happened?”
You couldn’t answer, or couldn’t give him an answer. You still didn’t understand why you were crying in the first place.
Maybe it was the pressure of everything. The events that would unfold once Dorian was found. The fact that none of you could survive after this or everyone would live happily ever after with Dorian gone.
Maybe it was the painting on the wall and the fact that Heeseung was taken from his family. That the man standing in front of you, you were slowly falling for and the thought of him giving up his life for the rest of his pack scared you. Because you knew he would.
“Y/N,” he called for you again, the tears still falling, “Baby, speak to me what’s wrong?”
Heeseung lifted your face to look at him, his faded purple hair falling in his face.
You took a deep breath, “The painting.” You decided to tell some truth. You couldn’t tell him the full reason.
Heeseung glanced at his family's painting, then back at you, a soft giggle left his lips as he smiled, “Baby, you’re crying over a painting that’s older than time?”
You rolled your eyes as he continued laughing, “It’s not funny!”
He wiped the last bit of your tears, “What makes it not funny?”
You just looked at him, trying to get him to read your answer off your face.
“Y/N,” Heeseung sighed, “I am okay,” he cupped your face firmly, “My family is my pack now. I am not alone. If that’s what you’re worried about.”
Heeseung could tell you weren’t telling him the full truth. But what place did he have to force you to tell him? To open up to him? And not open up just because he’s the king, but because you want to.
But all you did was nod at him. Trying to push the rest of the feelings away.
Your eyebrows furrowed, “Wait did you call me baby…twice?”
Heeseung giggled, giving a small smirk, “Yeah I guess I did.”
Without a second of hesitation, Heeseung’s lips were attached to yours.
It was just one passionate kiss, and he parted from you.
Heeseung dropped his hands and took a few steps back, “I uhhh…”
You were more in shock than Heeseung was.
As if on cue, the intercom speakers paged for Heeseung to go to the nurses' station.
“Saved by the bell…” He awkwardly chuckled, slowly walking backward and out of his office.
Heeseung quickly closed the door behind him, leaning against it as he stared straight ahead.
What did he just do? Nothing has ever choked Heeseung up like what he just did. He’s a fucking king for crying out loud.
Heeseung patted his face a couple of times, before walking to the nurses station.
The house was silent. Heeseung could hear the tectonic plates of the earth moving from how quiet the house was.
He tossed and turned in his bed, the only thing on his mind was you and the way your lips felt against his.
He wanted to go to you. To bring you close to him and hold you tenderly in his arms.
God, he hated the string of fate. He hated to be put in this situation, to begin with. He knew this pull towards you was his fate, but it was a question of when the string would just knot if it even would.
Heeseung couldn’t take it anymore, his mind was driving him insane.
He sat up in bed, ready to bolt out of his room when you opened the door.
Heeseung sat frozen, watching as you slowly closed the door behind you.
“Couldn’t sleep either?” you asked.
Heeseung shook his head, sitting up more.
You couldn’t stop thinking about him, or the way he held your face and kissed you. It’s been driving your brain wild.
You wanted to know what it would feel like to be completely held by him. To have his lips connect to yours and not stop. To feel his hands on you…
And the look on Heeseung’s face, you knew he was thinking the same thing. He could read you just as easily as you were able to read him right now.
“Oh fuck,” he whispered, quickly jumping off his bed.
He was on you within seconds, his body completely pressed to you as your back hit the door.
Heeseung couldn’t put his lips on you fast enough.
Your hands pulled through his hair as his hands roamed your body.
His lips parted from yours only long enough to pull you on top of him on his bed.
You stripped each other of your clothes one by one until it was bare skin against skin.
You gripped his shoulders as he wrapped his arms around your waist as you moved against him.
His sweet moans filled your ears, “Fuck…fuck…Y/N, oh fuck me.”
Sex with Heeseung was pure bliss. Even once you both collapsed beside each other after you’ve both finished, it still felt like you were on cloud nine.
You rolled over onto your stomach, propping your head into your hands.
Heeseung followed your movements, lifting himself on his elbows.
He pulled a lock of your hair behind your ear, then slowly traced his thumb over the scar he gave you from his blade.
“I am so sorry for this…” he whispered. Heeseung couldn’t even begin to describe how terrible he felt marking you like this.
You noticed an old mirror on the wall across from his bed, you tilted your head to the side, getting a better look at the scars.
“Don’t worry about it.” You said shrugging it off.
“No, I can’t just not worry about it!” He snapped, “I’ll have our magic girls fix it in the morning.”
“Heeseung,” you said, taking his hands in yours, “It’s fine. You did this out of desperation to protect your family.” You looked deeply into his eyes, seeing the worry in them, “You have a family to protect. You have your title as king to protect. I do not blame you at all for doing what you had to.”
Heeseung looked away from you, tangling his fingers around yours, “It doesn’t excuse the fact that I did it.”
“Stop beating yourself up, okay?”
Heeseung just nodded. It was all he COULD do. He knew you weren’t going to let the girls heal the scar.
Heeseung grabbed the blanket and pulled it over your bodies, “You’re so beautiful, you know that?”
You scoffed and softly giggled, “I never thought I’d hear those words, you went from hating me to hating me a lot less.”
Heeseung smiled, “We can call it hating you less.”
You stared at him, your eyes moving over every inch of his face. You would have never thought this sweet, caring man in front of you was the vampire king.
“Will you tell me how you became king?”
Heeseung’s smile faded, “It’s…a long story.”
“We have time. We are undead after all, stuck in eternity.”
Heeseung sighed, “Well, long story short,” he started, “It was just Jay and myself at the time. Before we officially became a pack, we ran with the previous king.”
You nodded, waiting for him to continue.
“He was a very…terrible person.” Heeseung’s whole body shook at the memories, “He treated us all like shit. He’s the one who nearly killed Jay and me. Deciding at the last second he wanted more warriors in his rank.” he took a deep breath, steadying his heart race, “It wasn’t until we traveled to Australia and found Jake, that it was the final straw for me.”
You put your hand on his shoulder, rubbing circles around his collarbone with your thumb.
“He didn’t just turn Jake, there was an abundance of people he nearly killed just to add to his army. And all the women he turned he…”
Heeseung didn’t need to finish the sentence for you to understand what he was getting at.
“Anyways, there was a woman I was close with and the king…” Heeseung took another deep breath, “He killed her for disobeying him. I was filled with so much rage, I prepared for weeks on how I would kill him and then I did.”
Heeseung stared at himself in the mirror, remembering the blood that covered his body. The power he inherited once the king’s undead heart stopped beating and was burned by fire.
He remembers seeing his golden eyes for the first time, and how sharper his fangs were.
“After that, I took the king's oath. Had some weapons forged in my honor, and then Jay, Jake, and I fled. We haven’t returned and that was the moment I decided to become a doctor. I wanted to put some good back into the world and show that not all vampires are monsters.”
You met his eyes in the mirror, “That’s why you all drink from bags.”
Heeseung nodded, staring back into your eyes from his mirror.
The way you two were both lying, the way your heartbeats synced and matched.
“It’s like you’re my mirror,” Heeseung finally spoke again.
“What?” You asked, confused.
“It’s like you’re my mirror,” he repeated, “I look at you and I see my reflection…I see us.”
The both of you could feel the string of fate tying tighter around you, but still not knotting.
Heeseung knew something was stopping the knot from completing. But he would wait for eternity if that’s what it took for you to become his mate…his queen.
“I feel it too, you know.” you whispered, “This pull…”
Heeseung shushed you, touching his forehead to yours, “We will figure it out, okay?”
You nodded, trusting your king.
He went to press a kiss to your lips, but his bedroom door flew open.
“Hyung we, OH MY GOD!”
Heeseung quickly covered you completely with the blanket, hiding you underneath.
“Sunghoon!” the king frowned, “Don’t you know what fucking knocking is!”
Sunghoon held his hands up over his face and stared off into a corner on the other side of the room, “Jesus fucking Christ, I didn’t know she was still in here.”
“Still??” you questioned.
“The whole house fucking heard you two!” Sunghoon retorted, “Anyways, Archer just called __, we found where Dorian is.”
Heeseung slid two silver daggers to his belt loop attachments and pulled his black trench coat over his body.
Jay laid out a map on the table, circling the area where Archer found him.
“Archer said he saw him entering from that side of the woods,” The dhampir pointed, “Archer said he also had roughly ten other vampires with him.”
Jungwon stared down at the map, eyes wide.
“Hyung, what’s wrong?” Niki asked, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“That’s the place he attacked __ and me that night,” Jungwon’s fist balled tightly, “He’s going back to where it all started.”
Sunoo looks at Jungwon confused, “What need would he have to go back there?!”
“It’s because of the clearing,” you said, everyone’s eyes now on you, “The moonlight hits it directly, and on a full moon which is right now…”
“Our powers are amplified.” Jake sighed.
“Exactly,” you continued, “And since he has spells and other magic items to amplify it even more…”
“He’d be unstoppable.” Sunghoon groaned, “That’s fucking perfect.”
“It’s also a trap,” the dhampir chimed in, “We are the strongest pack in the world, mostly because of the fact we have the fucking vampire king, but we have multiple different races of creatures with different abilities.”
“Dorian knew we would narrow it down,” Heeseung said through his teeth, “He’s going to lure us there and use every bit of magic and item he has in his deck of cards to kill us all and inherit our power.”
“He still doesn’t know you’re the king, right?” Jay asked.
Heeseung shook his head, “No. We never told a soul after I killed the previous king. I took the oath and the ones who stand under the oath can’t say a word.”
You started to get worried because if things went south, Dorian would be hitting two birds with one stone. This pack and the king.
Jungwon gritted his teeth, “Who gives a shit what he has up his sleeves, we have what he doesn’t: a family. Finish preparing everything and we leave ASAP.”
Heeseung agreed, “The humans are staying here, are we all in agreement?”
Jungwon and Jay’s mates disagreed, but the men agreed.
Jay held his mate against him, his hands cupping her face, “I can’t lose you, you’re staying here.”
Jungwon held his mate tight against him, “I’ll return to you, I promise.”
Everyone finished the preparations and started to head out.
Heeseung took your hand in his, “Ready to kill that son of a bitch?”
You squeezed his hand, “More than ready.”
Dorian’s laughter filled the clearing as he sensed the pack coming closer.
Jungwon made his presence known first.
“Dorian.”
“Ah! Won! We meet here again.”
Jungwon walked off towards the side of the clearing, “Yeah shit crazy. A full circle.”
“Where is your pack? Hmm?” Dorian looked around the woods, “I know they are here.”
Jungwon chuckled, “They are doing the same thing your goof nuts are doing, scouting.”
Dorian raised a brow, “Goof nuts? Really Won?”
Jungwon shrugged, “We aren’t stupid like you thought we would be. Flying into here blind.”
Dorian laughed once again, “Except you did come in blind.”
Jungwon furrowed his brows, watching as Dorian snapped his fingers.
A rush of vampires came down from the trees. Jungwon counted more than twenty.
“Damnit!” growled, “He had more than Archer thought.”
Jungwon steadied himself, trusting the process.
Before the vampires could even touch Jungwon, the other members circled him, their weapons drawn.
Dorian’s vampires jumped back, hissing at the pack.
You jumped in front of Jungwon, staring directly at Dorian, your blades held up.
“Now my vamps,” Dorian softly spoke, “You got startled by eight full-blooded vampires, a dhampir, witch, and elf? That’s…”
Dorian’s eyes wandered between you all.
You smirked, “What’s wrong, Dorian?”
He stared back with the most pissed-off look, “Where is the oldest?”
“Right here.”
Dorian quickly turned around right in time for Heeseung swinging his blade, Dorian backed up and Heeseung barely cut him across his chest.
Dorian’s hands flew to his chest as smoke raised from his chest, “God damn your blades.” He hissed.
Heeseung twirled the blades between his fingers, “Let’s end this game of yours, shall we? It’s been going on way too long.”
“Oh it has, and it’ll end with your bodies burning!”
“GO NOW!” Jungwon screamed, initiating the pack to fight.
One by one, the pack took down Dorian’s vampires.
The witch and elf set their hands in a blaze to burn their bodies.
But the fight with Dorian wasn’t over.
Heeseung hasn’t fought like this since he killed the previous king.
Dorian was also on another level than the king. Dorian had spells that he was throwing at Heeseung. Items that were helping boost the spells.
He also was moving too quickly, making it harder for Heeseung to get any major damage done.
Sunghoon and Jake jumped the last of Dorian’s vampires, tearing their bodies to pieces.
“Hex girl!” Sunghoon called his mate.
She responded with flames to burn the body.
You looked over at Heeseung and Dorian, seeing the struggle.
“Guys!” You called to the pack, “Get Dorian!”
Everyone rushed him.
Every single one of them had some sort of revenge to get towards him.
Dorian has threatened the lives of their mates and their family. They weren’t going to let him get away.
Each member took turns attacking, Heeseung following up every single time.
You saw an opening behind Dorian and jumped on his back.
“You fucking traitor!” Dorian yelled, desperately clawing at your arms and dodging the members.
You fought against his arms to angle your blades at him, “Me? The traitor?! You left me for dead! I worshiped the ground you walked on and stood by your side for hundreds of years!”
Dorian wore a shit-eating grin, “I’m going to fucking kill you all.
Heeseung’s eyes widened, “EVERYONE GET BACK!”
Dorian released a burst of energy from his body, catching everyone in the blast in some way.
Heeseung’s arms burned from the blast. He gritted his teeth, only for his face to fall.
Dorian held you by your neck, one of your blades shoved into your stomach as your skin also burned from the impact of the blast.
Heeseung’s breathing became uneven, rage filling him.
Dorian glances over, “Oh my,” he chuckled, “You’re in love with this traitor here?”
Heeseung gripped his blades.
“Hyung!” Jungwon called for him.
But Heeseung toned him out. The only thing he could see was you.
You slowly clawed at Dorian’s hands, getting lightheaded from the blood you were losing
Heeseung started to build up his power, causing his brothers to yell at him even more.
“Heeseung!!” Jay screamed, “Don’t do it!”
“Heeseung!!” Jake joined.
One by one each of his pack members yelled for him.
Heeseung drew in the power he inherited from killing the previous king.
Heeseung’s fangs came to a point, and his eyes shifted.
Dorian’s eyes widened as he dropped you to the ground.
“Oh, this is fantastic!” Dorian wore an evil smile, “This whole time I was hunting for where the king could be hiding, just for him to have been in front of me all along!”
“__, __,” Heeseung called to the witch and elf, “Get Y/N.”
Dorian paid no attention to the girls picking you up from the ground and dragging you back to the others.
Jay kneeled beside you, slightly pulling at the blade stuck in your stomach.
You let out a small groan of pain, you started kicking and swinging your arms, and Jay stopped moving the blade. Niki and __ holding your arms and legs down.
“Fuck!” He cursed, his focus going back to Heeseung.
“Jay!” The witch snapped her fingers at him, “Hey! Focus on Y/N.”
Jay narrowed his eyes between the witch and you, “You want me to choose between my brother and someone who ain’t even in my pack?!”
Jake touched Jay’s shoulder, “They are bonded, I can feel it. The string just isn’t knotted.”
“I can feel it too,” Niki said, “It’s faint but it’s there.”
“Don’t you fucking let her die!” Heeseung cried out, slowly standing back up to his feet, his knuckles white from gripping his blades.
“Jay, __ and myself will provide the numbing magic so you can pull the blade out,” The witch said.
He nodded, the girls hovering over you as Jay slowly attempted to remove the blade.
You turned your head to Heeseung, your vision blurring.
“Why don’t you just die already, ya?” Dorian asked, “Give me the power that I deserve.”
Heeseung held his blades at eye level, “Only thing you deserve is to rot in fucking hell.”
Dorian cracked his knuckles and ran full force at Heeseung.
Heeseung pushed forward, pushing his speed past its normal limits.
He swung the blade, cutting Dorian’s right hand off.
“Damnit!” Dorian screamed and pushed forward again.
Heeseung dodged him, sliding across the grass and slicing his Achilles heels.
Dorian went down to one knee. His fangs made an appearance as he held his only hand over where the other would be missing.
Sunoo and Jake appeared on both sides of Dorian, grabbing his arms as the dhampir pulled his head back by his hair.
Jungwon and Sunghoon stood beside Heeseung.
All their eyes glowed bright crimson and golden.
Dorian laughed, “You think killing me will be the end? That the rest of my followers won’t come after you now that you’ve shown who you truly are?”
You regained your consciousness, feeling the pain from the blade that was now missing.
Jay held pressure to your stomach, as the witch and elf used their healing magic.
“It’s working,” the elf said, “She’s awake again.”
Jay slowly lifted his hands, seeing your wound closing up.
Jay relaxed, looking back over at his brothers.
You rolled your head over to Heeseung, seeing how they surrounded Dorian.
“I don’t give a shit who knows who I am.” Heeseung hisses, placing both blades against Dorian’s neck, “I am the fucking vampire king in the strongest pack in the world, no one will dare cross me.”
Dorian regained his shit-eating grin, “I’ll see you in hell, vampire king.”
Sunoo and Jake wasted no more time, tearing his arms from his body.
Jungwon and Sunghoon went for his legs, breaking them apart.
The dhampir held her grip tightly on Dorian’s hair as he screamed in agony.
Heeseung, with all his force, pushed his blades through Dorian’s neck, cutting it clean off his body. His blood splattered all over Heeseung’s face and clothes.
“Babe!” Sunghoon called for his witch, her rushing to his side, her hands bursting into flames and setting Dorian’s body on fire.
The sun finally rose, and the clearing became quiet except for the sounds of the fire.
You were able to fully sit up, with the help of Jay and the elf.
Heeseung hung his head low, slowly placing his blades back into his belt.
It was over. It was finally over.
“Heeseung!” You called out to him.
He loved the way you’d say his name.
He quickly rushed to your side, helping you stand up.
“Are you okay? Baby?” Heeseung cupped your face, searching for any more wounds.
“Hee, I am fine.” You said placing your hands over his, “It’s all over.”
Tears filled your eyes, and the same did with Heeseung’s. He killed the man who had hunted and hurt his family.
Heeseung pulled you into a kiss, his arms wrapping tightly around you.
The string of fate finally completed its knot.
“It’s because of Dorian,” the young vampire girl said, “He had this hold on them, it was complicating the bond.”
The witch agreed, “Heeseung and Y/N, probably couldn’t fully let themselves have someone until their duties were done.”
Sunghoon raised his brows, “Do you feel that?”
The members at that moment felt it.
Heeseung released his lips from yours, turning to look at his pack.
You also turned to look and the site surprised you.
They all were kneeling, heads hung low but in an honoring way. Even the witch and the elf copied the men.
“What’s going on?” You asked, looking back up at Heeseung.
He took your chin between his fingers, “You’re my mate now, but it’s not just that. You’re now a queen.”
You looked back out at your new family, feeling the bonds everyone shared. The respect they now held for you, and it wasn’t just because of Heeseung or that you’re bonded to them now.
“Okay you idiots, stand up. Jeez, nothing has changed.” Heeseung teased, running over to his brothers, all seven of them huddling together.
The happiness Heeseung was feeling was indescribable.
He could finally truly be who he wanted, not just as himself, but as a doctor and even a king.
Heeseung had a family. He had you.
And that’s all that mattered in the end.
“Let’s go home now.” Heeseung said, “We no longer have to live in complete hiding.”
Heeseung wrapped his arms around you as you all walked together home.
the end ♡

The Lover Of The Seven Kingdoms (Tywin x Reader)
Tumblr media
First of all, I’m sorry but you cannot tell me anything when it comes to Tom hiddleston being the perfect young Tywin Lannister. Second, I love writing morally grey female characters and I wrote grant maester pycelle and mushroom in cause I wanted to show how a lot of male historians portray women in one way cause it’s just easier.
Tumblr media
The lover of the seven Kingdoms” grant maester Pycelle had used as a description of (y/n) Martell, the second wife of Tywin Lannister, the symbol of femininity for a plethora of men in kings Landing, the mother of lord Ezra Lannister and lady Asena, the scandalous twins and one of the few bastards that later became legitimate and inherited Lannisport, then they had three more, lady Nymeria, Lady Zara and Lord Sorin, (y/n) was the secret passion of Tywin since she stepped foot at court, she was to be Joanna’s lady in waiting.
Her appearance was one carved by the Gods, long dark raven hair that curled down to her waist, olive skin, and almost black eyes, her lips thick, and a body as juicy as the fruits of her land, her twin brother Dorian had sent her to Kings landing as a way to show respect and also expand her horizons.
“Princess (Y/n) had relations with one of the bastards of house Dayne when she denied him the man gutted himself in front of her, Doran sends her away to avoid more scandals caused by her lustful appetite”
Mushroom note, Joanna liked her, she was smart and endearing, and she knew how to play her part, however, what Joanna had not taken in mind is that (y/n) stopped at nothing to get what she wants, in this case, it was the young Tywin Lannister, the tall man with muscles everywhere, blue eyes and blonde hair was the subject of desire for a plethora of ladies, none of them had the guts to go after him, (y/n) was not like them, she had her eyes set and the game had begun.
“My lord”
(Y/n) called for Tywin, the hour was quite late but Tywin was the hand of the king, the hour did not matter when they were things he needed to pay attention to, papers to be signed and payments to be settled.
(Y/n) had studied his schedule, Joanna was already in bed and Tywin was free, most of the servants were dismissed so they were no prowling eyes to catch her.
Tywin halted and turned to look at the girl that called for him, she wore a rather sheer dress which was unlikely of hers, Dornish people were always costumed to very light choices in clothing, still, this was a step further, if the candles burned a bit brighter Tywin would have been able to see… well everything.
“Princess (y/n), is there something wrong?”
“No, not exactly, I was hoping to talk to you, in private”
Tywin hesitated, (y/n) was just outside her chamber, she was holding the door open which meant that her choice of privacy was her room, still, curiosity about what it could be that needed to be discussed in such a secretive way was enough for his feet to go one and then the other inside.
(Y/n) closed the door before she spun to rest her back on the wood, a smirk playing on her lips as her plan was going smoother than she expected, the room was decorated in cherry red and gold colors, some orange as well and the intense smell of vanilla and musk took over Tywins senses.
“So, I would prefer it if you started talking”
“Do you like being the hand of the king?”
“You summoned me to ask me if you like my occupation?”
“No, I summoned you because I have a pair of eyes, eyes clear enough to see that something has been bothering you”
“Well I am flattered that the princess cares to ask for my well-being, however, I must go”
“You can’t lie to me Tywin, if it’s not your duty then it has something to do with me, you have been avoiding me, you can’t even look me in the eye”
Tywin once again chose to not speak he only made a b line for the door to which (y/n) was resting, she had managed to think of everything down to reaching for the handle when he did, making their hands touch, Tywin did not pull his away, he let it rest on top of hers as he towered over her and she looked up at him with doe eyes.
“Is it me, my lord? It is my presence that is bothering you?”
“No”
“No? You are breathing quite heavily, your eyes travel below my lips, and… dare I say you could have moved me if you truly wanted to, no one is here, my lord, you can confess to me”
“(Y/n)-“
“Go on, confess”
Her voice was barely above a whisper as she gawked at Tywin with lustful eyes with a hint of innocence, she had done this before, Tywin was a mere puppet, a bug that got caught in the spiders' web and was now waiting to experience her poisonous bite.
Her kiss could be described as venom, it made his entire body feel like it was burning and her touch was the only remedy, his addiction started and ended with her, he had been fantasizing about her every night, haunting him like a succubus and stealing the life out of him, at an instant he forgot everything, his wife, his status, his entire life would crumble if someone were to find them, none of it mattered, all that he cared about was to see her, take her.
He took her right on her window, some servants had even reported that they could see the young princess bareback as her moans grew some attention, alas none of them thought something of it, most of the castle had seen a generous amount of men go in and out of (y/n)s chamber at all hours of the night.
Tywin was in utter awe with (y/n), he almost felt like he would faint as he reached his high, it was the only time Tywin considered that (y/n) was a practitioner of dark magic. No other woman had held such power over him in this act.
“My lion”
She had whispered in his ear before she kissed him,(Y/n) was the perfect lover, every night he would slip from his chamber and knock on her door, she would be waiting for him, take him up to the sky, and wrap him with her fire that burned as bright as dragon fire.
Tywin was entirely himself around her, she allowed him to be in control and gave him the euphoric theatrics of prowling on her, which made (y/n) giggle a little, it was refreshing and borderline hilarious to move the strings in the background while Tywin thought he was moving them only because she let him touch them.
“I have exciting news”
“Which is?”
“Princess (y/n) is pregnant, how lovely would it be if we get to marry our children? We could secure Dorne and bind my friendship with her”
“We will do no such thing”
“Tywin, think about it if we-“
“You are forgetting an important thing Joanna, the princess is not married, who knows who the father of that bastard is, my child will not marry anyone of such low status”
What else could he have said? We can’t marry them cause they are siblings? Joanna would be crushed, Tywin had run to her chamber that night, not even bothering to knock as he burst into the room startling her, still once she laid her eyes on him she smiled, she dared to smile as if nothing has happened.
“How dare you announce your pregnancy without even telling me first”
“I thought you had noticed”
“No, I hadn’t and Joanna wants to marry your child with one of our children”
“I am sure we will find a way around it”
“Find a way around it? How are you so calm when the world is crumbling on your feet? You are not married nor betrothed, this child will be declared a bastard”
“This child will be my firstborn, a child created by you and me if you remember, that is all that matters to me”
“Not to the rest of the realm”
“I do not care about the rest of the realm Tywin, that is your problem, it will be royalty in Dorne, I do not care what they call my child here”
“Some said she bathed in goats blood every full moon, she would burn candles and speak in foreign languages to make Tywin stay by her side”
Mushroom claimed, it could be true or just whispers since no one understood the powerful hold that she had on the young lord, Tywin was a fearsome man, calculated and ambitious, yet (y/n) could sway him in any direction she wished with a bat of an eyelash.
It was such a peculiar moment, (y/n) gave birth to twins four moons after her lady Joanna, Ezra and Asena, both of them had their fathers' eyes, sapphires that shined in the light of the sun as (y/n) fed them from her breasts, Tywin had held Asena first, she looked nothing like Cersei still something in him knew that the two girls were born to be each others nemesis, fate had played him like a fiddle.
“I was thinking of going back to Dorne”
“Why?”
“My brother said it is not safe for us, people will talk and I do not want my children to grow up in a venomous environment”
“No, no you will stay, Ezra and Asena Hill has a nice ring to it”
“They are Martells, my love, they shall be called that”
(Y/n) was not ashamed of her children, on the contrary, she adored them and kept them by her side at all times, she taught them how to walk, talk, sing, and dance, a endearing mother with a backbone made of Valyrian steel, a combination made straight out of the seven rings of hell.
“Push, my lady”
“I can’t, (y/n) please make it stop”
“Maester, what is taking so long?”
“The babe has breached, it will not let me pull it out”
“It hurts (y/n)”
“I know, my lady, just one more push”
Joanna fought tooth and nail to survive, unfortunately, her labor did not harvest any fruit for her, the son survived but Lady Joanna did not even get to hold him, grant Maester pycelle held Tyrion and presented him to lord Tywin who was utterly disgusted by the ugly creature.
“That is no son of mine, throw him in the river”
“You will do no such thing”
“This matter does not concern you, princess”
“It does, you may be excused maester”
Pycelle only nodded and left them alone, a strange aura surrounded both of them, Joanna was gone, a deformed babe had taken her life, and (y/n)s belly was ready to pop any minute, what was to be done now?
“Does cruelty excite you?”
“Cersei and Jaime are both healthy and Lannister featured, that… thing could not have been created by me”
“It was not the babes' fault, so I have to remind you that you are also guilty of the thing you are accusing a dead woman of?”
Tywin was a man but that meant little to nothing, if Tyrion was a bastard then there was no difference between him and (y/n)s children, Tywin was in no place to frown upon such an act since he was having another child on the way, a bastard.
“Listen to me, my love, I know you loved Joanna and I loved her too, but the babe survived, it’s the last thing we have from her, grief is a strong emotion, but we have each other to lean on, don’t you want this for us Tywin? for me?”
There it was, her secret weapon, that sweet voice that dripped of honey and the big doe eyes, she knew how to play the damsel in distress down to every detail, Tywin put his lips in before he shook his head in defeat, his wife had departed but his mistress stood before him, demanding a place at his table and life, which he was willing to give her.
-
Cersei was frantic, the announcement of her father's betrothal to the princess (y/n) and the reaffirmation of her bastard children had brought her to an utmost stage of rage that she was going around her room like a hurricane, she was throwing things and cursing as loud as her lungs allowed it.
How could he do this to her? To her family? That woman had slithered her way into their life like a snake and was now feasting over her mother's dead body, this was just plain disrespectful to her mother.
Tywin found Cerseis handmaidens outside her chamber as the sounds that came from it could put to shame any wild animal, the ladies looked frightened and not one of them dared to go in, however, all of them tried to warn him in leaving the lady be, suggesting that this has probably happened before.
“What do you think you are doing?”
“Get out”
“Young lady I advise you-“
“Shut up! I don’t want to listen to you! How could you marry her?! How could you do this to my mother?”
That was the last thing she said before a harsh slap landed on Cerseis's cheek, the girl was taken back by the act since her father had never hit her, he would discipline her but mostly by raising his voice or finding peculiar tricks of punishment, for Tywin to get physical with his daughter meant that she had gone too far.
“You do not get to judge my decisions, you will welcome your brother and sisters and you will be nice to my wife whether you like it or not, did I make myself clear?”
Silence only looks that could kill were exchanged
“Did I make myself clear?”
“Yes Father”
“My love?”
(Y/n) walked into the room, she had heard everything although she chose to reside in the act of being clueless, Tywin had turned away from his daughter and walked to his soon-to-be wife’s side, his hand found hers and brought it up to his lips, (y/n) smiled fondly before she scanned the room with her eyes, a puzzled look on her face as the room was upside down.
“What has happened? Is the young lady alright? The handmaidens were stuttering when I asked about the noises”
“Yes, no need to worry, my dear, Cersei was just redecorating”
“Oh, well if she wishes I can help with that”
“No, no, Cersei is quite specific, she prefers doing things her way, hence this scenery, we should live her”
“As the young lioness wishes, but before we leave”
(Y/n) took a few steps so she can stand ahead of Cersei, Cersei truly felt like a lioness, one that was trapped in a cage to be exact, as much as Cersei wanted to believe she could outsmart anyone (y/n) had years up on the horse, so naturally she was now trotting past Cersei with her caring smile and eyes that lit up, Cersei was left to looking like a kid that threw a tantrum whilst (y/n) looked like a mother that did her best to keep the peace.
“I know you are angry at me, I would be too, I will not try to be your mother, I do however hope that one day you will view me as your ally or your friend even”
(Y/n) went to caress Cerseis cheek which Cersei flinched away from that earned her a cold hard stare from her father, (y/n) only bit her lip in defeat, then it was replaced by a smile of hope, (y/n) genuinely wanted things to go as smooth as possible, to keep all of Joanna's children close to her, it was the least she could do she wasn’t a complete monster, as much as Cersei liked to think of her as one.
“Perhaps it’s too soon, I am asking way too much of you, I hope you have a great day, sweetling”
“Put everything back in its place, now”
Tywin instructed in a stern voice before they exited the chamber that Hurricane Cersei was occupying, Tywin was sure that she would throw something at the door once it was closed and he stood correct when a loud bang was heard.
“She is a young girl that lost her mother, having an attitude with me is inevitable”
“Cersei is not a normal young girl, she has a superiority complex over everyone, our children will not interact with her yet”
“That won’t be a problem, Asena is not… fond of Cersei either”
“I wonder why, let us not think of Cersei right now, it is time for Nymeria to be fed”
“See how beautiful it sounds when it rolls off the tongue? And you wanted to name her Lydia”
Since this babe was the first legitimate child of Tywin and (y/n) he had the suggestion of picking the name of the beloved girl, on the contrary (y/n) was not budging, she was adamant on naming her daughter after the biggest warrior queen Dorne has ever known, her precious Nymeria.
“The princess never wanted to marry lord Tywin, she was far more interested in keeping their relationship private, howbeit Lord Tywin was too consumed by his emotions for her to consider the fact that the princess could have been wed, she simply chose not to”
Grant maester Pycelle added when asked about their wedding. (Y/n) did not care about her children being legitimate or owning land, Dorne was her home, her brother had congratulated her on the birth of her twins and even offered to have them in Dorne, and her family was delighted by (y/n) bringing forth new heirs for the Martells, it was only Tywin that wanted to make it official, to let everyone know that the princess was now cloaked by the lion, her life as the lady of the rock had begun and Dorne had entered a land that they never really thought of earning.
“In a day you will be my wife, therefore, my children’s good mother, I expect them to treat you as such”
“I do not, Tywin they are in mourning, you cannot expect them to make it easy for me”
“I am not dimly witted my dearest, I know they will have some thoughts over our marriage, albeit I will make sure they keep it to themselves”

Chapter two ⤞⟢⨳⟣⤝ Roxaene ⤞⟢⨳⟣⤝
She saw the danger coming as the heat rose from the mouth of the impressive dragon in front of her, and a voice next to her that resonated. Vhagar. She didn't need to hear her name to recognize the creature; the only dragon that could be so impressive was Vhagar, the one once ridden by Visenya Targaryen.
Roxaene knew all this because she had learned the history of every great house in the kingdom, and the history of the Targaryens had fascinated her from a young age. Dorian had tried to get her interested in other stories and other families, but the little girl she was at the time was already fascinated by the dragons that populated her dreams, and her interest had never waned.
She didn't have time to turn around before the sand already cushioned her fall, a gasp of surprise and pain escaping her lips as she found herself pinned to the beach by a man who materialized in front of her as if by magic. Or maybe it was the strange trance she had been in that had made her ignore her surroundings to the point of not seeing the danger coming in the form of a man.
However, she wasn't afraid and responded with courage, her thin eyebrows furrowed and her gaze attempting to be threatening, even though the man questioning her didn't seem frightened at all.
And since Roxaene had been well educated, she instantly recognized the one holding her down.
"Prince Aemond..." She murmured, her voice losing its courage.
Out of all the people living in this great city, Roxaene had to stumble upon a prince, alone on a beach. And not just any prince; one of the king's sons, the one whose dark rumors made their way to Dorne.
Being terribly too close to him, she couldn't ignore his hair of the same color as hers, and his eye, his only eye, which stared at her with the same violet gleam as hers.
Dorian would be terribly furious and disappointed if he learned about this. It shouldn't happen; she needed to leave and disappear as quickly as possible, return to her chamber and not come out until his return.
Her features tensed up a bit, her eyebrows rising, scared that someone saw her, recognized her, as Dorian often told her. Not wanting to disappoint him by learning that his cherished daughter had wandered alone at dusk to fall into the arms of the cruel prince.
Just for a moment, she thought she might be scared - not of Aemond Targaryen, but of the consequences of their encounter. Not for long, just enough time to regain her composure as he tightened his grip on her wrists and slammed her against the ground again.
"You seem to know who I am but refuse to tell me who you are." The prince growled, frowning, the coldness of his fine features turning darker. He obviously wasn't used to being refused, let alone by a young girl lost on the beach daring to resist him.
"Answer me, it's an order!"
Roxaene didn't know what she risked by refusing to obey a prince, but the mere idea of the reactionof her father or being recognized filled her with more fear. Trying to sit up, she growled in frustration.
"Get off me! I swear I wasn't going to do anything to your dragon, so let me go!"
Wanting to tip the odds in her favor and taking advantage of the element of surprise, Roxaene quickly brought up her knee, managing to strike him, probably not hard enough to hurt him but enough to surprise him. If he thought he was going to intimidate her, he didn't know her well because when Aemond's eye widened, she quickly turned her head and bit him as hard as she could, tasting the warm metallic flavor against her lips.
Vhagar growled in concert with his rider, who released Roxaene's face with a cry of pain, as if he had just put his hand in molten lava.
Surprise was written on his features, and it was the moment she chose to act; she turned around, quickly, then used her elbows to crawl away from his physical grasp to have a chance to stand on her feet and run.
Run as fast as possible, as far as possible.
Do not look back.
Forget this evening, the dragon.
Forget the prince and the fear.
She hadn't received any close combat training and would quickly be overpowered if she didn't act swiftly. But realizing that her legs were still half blocked by the prince's body, she decided to act differently; even bolder and more reckless, but the only idea that sprang to her mind.
.⤞⟢⨳⟣⤝ Aemond ⤞⟢⨳⟣⤝.
Few sane men dared to look at the one-eyed prince, and even fewer dared to provoke him. Despite having recognized him, this young girl seemed not to fear him. Either she was completely unaware, or she feared something much worse than Aemond.
And this simple thought further fueled the prince's curiosity, if that was possible.
Pain blossomed against his hip where she had struck him - by doing this, she had dared to raise her hand against a member of royal blood - and just when he thought it was the stupidest of her decisions, another pain erupted on his hand, forcing him to release her.
But this time, she wouldn’t win. He will not let her win.
He pounced on her as she crawled on her stomach in the hope of escaping him and grabbed her by the hair, pulling her back so hard that she groaned between her clenched teeth - apparently too proud to let out a real cry - ending up on her knees in front of him, her back hitting Aemond's chest.
"Enough! First, you stand fearlessly in front of the maw of the most dangerous dragon, then you shed the blood of a prince? I swear the Stranger is calling for you."
He tightened his grip, but she managed to pivot and do something unexpected; she struck him with the palms of her hands on the chest, unbalancing him so quickly that he fell on his back. She could have fled; she could have tried to save her life, but there she was, the young silver-haired girl straddling him in a vain attempt to immobilize him.
Her chest rose rapidly with her strained breath, her small and delicate hands trembling against his chest. She had tried her luck too many times for a single evening and couldn't retreat anymore. Lifting her chin and making a slight pout—quickly, but just enough for Aemond to furrow his brows, convinced he had seen that expression on someone close to him—Roxaene took a breath.
For courage.
"I was so fascinated by your dragon that I didn't realize what I was doing. But Gods bear witness, I had no ill intentions, nor did I wish to shed your blood. I... I had no choice but to defend myself."
A sigh of relief escaped her as he let her stay on him, not pushing her away or attacking. Aemond was a trained, dangerous, and efficient young man; if he had wanted to throw her to the ground and slash her throat, Roxaene's lilac eyes would have already lost their sparkle.
Instead, he placed his hands on her hips, keeping her where she was, on him.
The simple contact made Roxaene shiver, looking down at him, her hands still firmly anchored on his chest. She wasn't sure if it was to maintain her balance or to have the illusion of keeping him against the ground. But she needed this contact not to be frightened.
His hands on her hips, however, gave her a completely different impression. He didn't grip tightly, didn't hurt her, but it was a hold he exerted, fully aware that he could do whatever he wanted with her and proved it.
"Forgive me, my Prince, for the injury. I defended myself without thinking. Let me go, you will never see me again, I give you my word, I will pretend none of this happened."
A murmur rumbled in the prince's throat, not crossing the barrier of his lips; he seemed to be thinking, giving Roxaene enough time to observe the prince further; he was handsome, no more a child and not yet completely a man, even though he already had all the physical attributes. Their hair was the same shade, that particular color of the moon on a stormy evening. Even their skin was of the same paleness. Until now, Roxaene had not met anyone who resembled her, and it left a strange feeling in her chest.
"But that's not what I want." He eventually said with a sure voice.
"The last thing I want is to see you disappear without answering my question—and the ones to come." He didn't release her gaze, tightening his grip on her hips. "Let's find a compromise; I'll let you go tonight on two conditions only, and—"
"Please, I don't ask f—" the young girl began, cutting him off for fear of hearing what he was going to ask her, but the prince's voice overpowered hers, bossy and authoritative, his icy gaze fixing her with such intensity that she felt her cheeks warm and probably blush.
"Don't interrupt me." His voice was calm but firm as he tilted his head slightly to the side, as if trying to understand how such a young woman could have so much courage or recklessness and so little manners in front of a member of the royal family.
"I'll let you go if-and only if- you give me your name and your promise to come back tomorrow night."
The prince saw her shiver and felt a certain pride in being the cause of this reaction.
With a movement as fluid as it was rapid, he turned her over under his body, just for an instant - a brief instant, like the beating of a wing before lifting her up with him.
His hand had gripped one of hers while the other was in the middle of her back to maintain her balance.
"And don't try to lie, because I'll know how to find you and if that happens, you'll regret that I didn't let Vhagar end your life. Do we have a deal, girl?”
She didn't take her eyes off him, swallowing but no longer daring to lower her gaze, either out of pride or determination.
"Roxaene."
"What?" He asked, as if he hadn't understood what she said, to which she replied.
"My name is Roxaene. And I give you my word to be there tomorrow night, no need to threaten me, I keep my promises."

I didn't realize it had gone through as a submission my bad 😂
Inquisition LIs reaction to hearing their Inquisitor through a door saying things like "you are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, you are a gift from the Maker, I love you, I'd die for you, etc.", thinking they're with someone else and running in, just to find out the Inq. is talking to a baby nug/Mabari pup they snuck into Skyhold?
“Romanced Companions reacting to Secret Baby Nug/Mabari Pup”
Here you go and thank you again, @queer-edmundpevensie for the ask! Also, more jokes!
When the Inquisitor asked Bull if he had a spare plug they could use, he said “Sorry, I don’t have any Chargers.” (Maybe a little sorry)
-Lord Lex
Cullen
”I- Honestly, I can’t even blame you for your choice of words. He is handsome.”
-Was split between being upset and feeling remorse. If indeed you had found someone else, you would most definitely deserve someone better than him but you could have at least told him. Pleasantly surprised to find the nug/mabari. Maker forbid if it’s a mabari because he will dote on that thing, saying how your “true love” is a very good boy.
Josephine
“Love, who are you talking to-? Oh! Aren’t they just the sweetest!”
-Didn’t doubt you for a second. She knows that if there was something wrong with you two, you’d tell her. Also, your wording was a little strange for if you were talking to someone else. Suggests on getting it a collar. You actually might be the jealous one when you find her cuddling it more than you.
Solas
“...”
-What was he expecting? Not this. But he has full fate in you to know you wouldn’t go behind his back if your feelings had changed. Honestly a little jealous of the mabari/nug. It’s actually kinda cute- wait, how did you even get it into Skyhold? Oh well. He’ll also tell you about how, in old tales, different animals used to run through Skyhold so having it here just makes sense.
If they go missing, it’s because they started following Solas around. No, he doesn’t know why.
Cassandra
“Inquisitor, I-!...How did you manage to get that here?”
-Yes, she was a little irked that you might be with someone behind her back. And yes, she does feel horrible that she’d assume the worst. She’ll admit what she was thinking was going on and apologize. Cassandra, to most people’s surprise, is a big softie when it comes to animals so her confusion and irritation is put on hold when your chosen creature looks at her with them big ol’ eyes.
The Iron Bull
“Well, Varric owes me money.”
-He knew from the beginning that you snuck it in. But hearing you talk in such a way to it did make him pause. If you two are only fooling around right now, he doesn’t mind and doesn’t care who you sleep with. Now, if you’re his kadan, might be a different story. But, again, he knew you had the creature somewhere and that certainly sounds like how you’d baby an animal. Lo and behold, he was right and Varric has less pocket gold. Also, if you don’t stop him, he’ll carry the animal around like a baby.
Dorian
“Dearest. Amatus. Love of my life. My chosen partner….What the fuck.”
-One of the only people who puts up with your shit anymore. He’ll be one of the people who is severely split. Yes, you deserve better than him, knowing his history and how he can act sometimes. But also how dare you go behind his back when he has given you his heart? He has to pause to let his heart settle after walking in on you cuddling the thing before he very irritable tells you to watch your wording.
Sera
“Alright, what the fuck! Who are you talking-? Wait, that’s not a person.”
-Fully thought it was someone else and wanted to rain hell on them. So it was a little shocking to see your door kicked open and Sera holding a jar of bees at the ready. If you choose a mabari over a nug, she’ll put the bees away and start petting it, acting like nothing happened. Now, if you choose a nug, she’ll make a disgusted face and back away. Not very fond of nugs, but fond of you.
Blackwall
“I’m gonna admit it, I thought there was someone else in here. Glad to see I was both wrong and right.”
-Same boat as Cullen, he kinda expected you to find someone else by now. Hurt his feelings a bit to know that you might have a secret admirer other than him. Does not find it funny (ok, maybe a little) if you name the beast after him. It’s even more funny to see him try to watch his step around it, especially a nug, as he would not like to step on the creature that has your affection.

ooo how about.. how would the assassins (your usual bunch) react to an s/o who loves and is really good giving the sloppy toppy? 👁️👅👁️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
☾ ⋆ ゚𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 / 𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒: it's been a while since I wrote some ac content hehe 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒: altaïr, ezio, connor, arno, jacob 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒: MDNI, NSFW content, smut, oral (m. receiving)
Tumblr media
。・:*˚:✧。altaïr ibn-la'ahad
♡ oh altaïr just loves that about you. He'll kindly ask for you to give him head after a long or frustrating day as he wraps his arms around your waist from behind and kisses the back of your neck, breath fanning over the shell of your ear to seduce you (not that it takes a lot seeing as this is something you love to do).
♡ altaïr is the type to have you on your knees beneath his desk - it's one of his favourite places for the two of you to do this when the door is locked. He often has to pour over paperwork and letters and it's the least favourite part of his job.
♡ so, he'll just sit back, spread his legs to make room for you and set a hand upon your head as you get to work. He'll pet your hair and just feel the way you bob your head up and down as he loses himself in the sensation of you swallowing him down your throat and he'll be sure to remember this the next time he's stressing over work
。・:*˚:✧。ezio auditore
♡ oh Ezio is just thrilled that you enjoy giving him blowjobs so much. To begin with, he was very insistent on returning the favour but you've made it clear to him that's it's not necessary because you're not only doing it for him, you're doing it because you enjoy it. He never really asks for you to do this for him because he knows you'll do it of your own volition anyway.
♡ Ezio never seems to live alone throughout the franchise so I imagine that he prefers to do this in hidden places instead: maybe some secret spot of his down by the river arno, in some ruins in roma or perhaps in the tunnels beneath it, upon some rooftop with a view of costantinopoli's unique skyline. Either place is public, sure, but no one really goes there at the times he brings you there and so there's only the slightest risk of being caught.
♡ he tries to keep any groans and moans to a minimum so that the two of you won't be caught but he just loves to murmur words of praise to you all while you're down on your knees. He likes making you look up at him with your pretty eyes while you're down there. He lets you take the lead physically but he'll enjoy commanding you to go faster or slower or to take it deeper or use your tongue.
。・:*˚:✧。ratonhnhaké:ton | connor kenway
♡ he's quite shy about it but he'll never refuse you. He feels a little bad that you give him oral much more than he returns it but you've reassured him time and time again that this is something you're doing for the both of you and not just him so it's ok! He never, ever has any complaints though.
♡ seeing as Achilles' injury means he rarely leaves Davenport Manor, you and Connor often do this out in the woods around the homestead in a specific area that the two of you frequent just to be intimate together without having to worry about keeping things down so that the old man downstairs won't overhear you (you'd both be beyond mortified).
♡ Ratonhnhaké:ton knows he's big so he'll let you have complete control over what's going on. He'll have his hands on your head but it's mostly to just comb his fingers through your hair while he thanks you and tells you how good you make him feel through muffled whimpers as he bites his lips. He might tug your hair when he gets close to coming but he'll apologise the moment he realises he's doing it too much.
。・:*˚:✧。arno dorian
♡ as much as Arno respects that this is something you really love doing and he does like getting head from you, he's the type that genuinely prefers to give oral than to receive it. But at the same time he wants what will make you happy so he lets you have your fun.
♡ Arno tends to only do these things in private with you so this will mostly only happen in his home at the café-theatre or maybe in the club hall beneath it when he knows no one will walk in on the two of you.
♡ as said above, Arno prefers to give oral than to receive it and so his compromise is that when you want to give him oral, the two of you will often sixty-nine. He just loves having you sit on his face while your lips wrap around his cock and he can taste you on his tongue while he can feel the vibrations of your moans.
。・:*˚:✧。jacob frye
♡ Jacob thinks your mouth is absolutely incredible. He loves that you're always so eager to give him head and just how good you are at it. He's not too shy to spread his legs apart to make room for you while he pats his lap to beckon you over.
♡ If you're in a train carriage alone, Jacob will lock the doors, draw the curtains that look into the other carriages, and will set a pillow on the floor for your knees so that you don't get uncomfortable. He's not against a quickie here or there in some semi-public place where you could get caught so long as it's not somewhere dirty - you're a lady and you deserve better than that in his eyes.
♡ one of his favourite ways of doing this is to have you kneeling or sitting on the floor with your back to the wall, the back of your head touching it. He'll have you look up at him while he lets you take the lead or he starts off slow until he builds up to fucking your face. He just loves the noises you make and he's quick to bring you to your feet and messily kiss you the moment he's done or he wants to move on to something else.

The Courtship Deception - Part 2: Heirloom
Fic masterlist
Written for @throneofglassmicrofics
I have 15-ish parts outlined (and most already written, a big feat for me! Yay!) so updates will be frequent since I have to finish by the end of the month heheh
Warnings: Rhoe being his shitty homophobic self
Words: 829
Tumblr media
“He’s from Doranelle too,” Fenrys answered to one of her million questions about Rowan while they waited outside her dad’s office.
“But is he just from Doranelle, or did you meet him in Doranelle?” Aelin insisted, her voice hushed so no one would hear it.
For all his talkative personality, Fenrys was awfully secretive about his life back in Doranelle. All she knew was that he used to work for the royal family, hence why Rhoe was paying him the big bucks to babysit Aelin, but she got nothing beyond that. What did he do? Who did he work with? Are the gay rumors about Prince Endymion true? Nada.
Fenrys snorted. “He can answer that himself, Princess.” An eyebrow raised at her. “Didn’t you get his phone number?”
Aelin rolled her eyes. “That doesn’t mean he’ll answer all my questions, though.” But his flirting skills certainly made up for it, was what Aelin didn’t say because Rhoe’s assistant called them in.
His office was unsettling, or maybe it was just Aelin that felt unsettled, considering that her father only called her here for important conversations. It would be simple, just a big desk and some filing cabinets, if not for his bookcase. Instead of books, he showcased airplane miniatures—one of each model from Gala Airlines—but also family heirlooms, crests, and whatever old royal nicknack he liked to keep as a reminder of what he’d be if some very smart people hadn’t an ancestor of theirs one hundred and a half years ago.
“Fireheart.” Her dad smiled, gesturing for her to sit while Fen stood by the door. “I was just on a phone call with Lord Westfall. I have great news for us.”
“Do tell…” she trailed, unsure of what to say. Great news usually led to special dinners, not meetings mid-afternoon.
“I ran into Westfall on that trip to the Southern Continent last week. We talked a lot, including about how things are going south in business, and he’s willing to help us out if we give him a hand as well.”
“Okay…?”
Rhoe’s expression turned somber. “You do know what happened with his boy, right?”
Aelin nodded, her chest tightening just to think of their situation. Chaol and Dorian’s secret relationship was recently outed online and treated as an international scandal, leading to their breakup.
“Very well.” Her father leaned on the table, hands clasped together on the surface. “Westfall’s willing to invest in Gala Airlines if you agree to marry his boy. You know, so people stop thinking he’s a sissy.”
“EXCUSE ME?” Aelin shouted, standing up. She didn’t know what to call out first, this stupid-ass plan or the blatant homophobia.
He held both hands in surrender. “I know this isn’t fair to you, and I know you deserve to choose who you marry...”
Aelin crossed her arms. “Go on.”
“That’s why I reached out to King Dorian. He offered the same deal on his son’s behalf, and now we’re willing to let you choose which one of the boys you’ll marry.”
“Oh!” Aelin’s mouth fell open, a flush of adrenaline tingling through her body because how dare he. “How generous of you!”
Rhoe relaxed on his chair. “I knew you’d see reason.”
“No, that’s not—“ Aelin pinched the bridge of her nose, blood boiling with anger. “Have you ever considered that, if business is going south and your first solution is to sell your daughter, maybe things are sinking because of you?”
“Fireheart, this is hardly about me.” Rhoe tilted his head, as if trying to understand her. “Can’t you see that you’ll get back what was taken from you? Your birthright?”
She took a step back, mind going a mile a minute. Not this bullshit again.
“Daddy, it’s not my birthright, and even if it were, I don’t want it.”
He sighed. “Royal duties aren’t about want. It’s the most honorable—“
“That I don’t have any right to!”
“But if you can’t reclaim your own title, you should at least marry into one!”
The reason why her father married her mother, a princess from Wendlyn, before the monarchy fell there too and he lost his title—and his marriage.
“Dad, this might seem unbelievable to you, but I’m actually glad I’m not a crown princess, and I’m certainly glad your great-great-great-grandfather was such an incompetent fuck he got—“
“Enough!” her father shouted. “Watch your mouth before you talk about—“
“But I am! I’m fine with it! I have a princess’ wealth and Instagram following, why would I ever want more obligations just for the sake of a title? Can’t you see Queen Georgina? She’s boring, she dresses boring, she has a boring schedule—“
“I guess you’ll have to get used to boring, then,” he snapped, eyes cold in a commanding way. “Or choose to become a duchess. Both boys will be flying in soon to start courtship. You’ll have a few weeks to choose—unless you come up with a better deal, which I doubt.”

Broken Promises - Fenrys Moonbeam
A/N: I thought I'd try something different and write for the TOG characters! There's not enough fics on here about them and Fenrys is my favourite lil wolf boy ❤️ This could definitely have a part 2 if people want it! I hope you like it!❤️
W/C: 2.8K
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The last place you thought you'd be was chasing ghosts with three fae males and another human girl, but here you were. All for that insufferable wolf. The one you couldn't shake from the moment you'd met him in Skull's Bay. Not to mention the young Queen of Terrasen who Rowan Whitethorn would hunt to the ends of the earth for, the four of you in tow.
It had been the most exhausting two months of your life, how Elide coped you didn't know, Gavriel's kindness in using his magic to brace her ankle was only a small part of it you were sure. How Rowan endured the empty mating bond was again a mystery. The other mystery that haunted you was why you so desperately needed to go with them, why you needed the wolf to be safe. He'd made his choices, he'd sworn himself to Maeve, he'd done this to himself and he'd broken his promises to you and he'd broken you in the process, but still you went.
Sea air caressed your face as you sat on deck watching the sun disappear in the horizon. You sensed him seconds before he sat next to you and drawled, "Mind if I join you?" You met his onyx eyes, "It appears you already have, Lord Fenrys." He snorted at that. "Just Fenrys, I'm no Lord." You smiled at him slightly and looked back out to the water, "How did you come to be such a close companion of the King?" He asked, looking over his shoulder at Dorian.
"Our mothers are friends, we are close in age so growing up, Dorian would be running around causing chaos, Chaol running behind him trying to fix whatever Dorian broke and I'd be behind both of them, just wanting to be involved." Fenrys chuckled, "I can picture that, the three of you being nightmares." You smiled as a memory hit, "Once, when we were 7, a boy from a visiting noble family pushed me over in the courtyard and poured his juice all over me because I wanted to play with them. He told me I was to be a Lady not a Knight and therefore I couldn't play Knights with them, when I refused he pushed me as hard as he could then poured his juice all over my new dress, I still have the scar on my knee. Dorian punched him so hard his nose broke and demanded he apologise and replace my dress. We were both screaming so loud our mothers thought we were being attacked, when they found us Chaol and Dorian were holding me and telling me I could be anything I wanted to be, if I wanted to be a knight, Chaol would train me himself and Dorian would name me the Kings Knight." Fenrys laughed then, a proper laugh, loud enough that Dorian, Aelin and Rowan all peered over at the two of you from the conversation they'd been having. "And are you? The King's Knight?" He asked, you smiled again and shook your head, "No, that job was always Chaol's, I took a more subtle job, as a lady of the court, I always had information and I was always listening." He raised an eyebrow, "So she's a spy." You grinned, "Something like that."
A friendship had formed between the two of you after that, it wasn't exactly a secret that Gavriel and Fenrys were trusted very little by everyone on the ship but you, the two warriors had given you no reason not to trust them so you made them be your friends instead, Gavriel was full of kindness and sorrow, sorrow for the son that couldn't yet look at him let alone speak to him, instead he'd ask you questions about him so you told him what you knew of Aedion Ashryver, the Wolf of the North. Fenrys was full of mischief and witty comments, often using that strange place jumping power of his to scare the life out of you, but you couldn't deny you had started to grow a soft spot for both of them.
"Have you been to war?" You asked them one evening, watching the Wyvern who had landed on deck not long ago in wonder. "Many times." Gavriel confirmed. "Do we stand a chance at this one?" His eyes met yours. "Are you worried that you don't?" He asked gently. "I'm worried that I won't live long enough to find out. I've had some training, but it was mainly self defense, I don't know how to wield a sword or a bow." His eyebrows bunched but it was Fenrys who spoke, "You'll see the new world, Y/N, I'll train you the best I can, so will Gavriel and I won't leave your side when the time comes, nothing will happen to you." You met his eyes, staring at him as if you could see into his soul, "You promise?" Your voice sounding weaker than you intended it to. "I swear it." Deciding not to pull on that thread of a promise you asked, "Do you think he'll let me pet him?" Gavriel snorted a laugh but Fenrys had gone pale, "Do not touch the Wyvern, Y/N!" You grinned at him, "I'm not going to but I am going to ride a Wyvern before this war is over."
You'd known deep in your soul that it was an oath he couldn't keep, the blood oath he'd sworn would pull him away from you sooner or later. He'd tried his best though, to train you, to keep you safe.
The Stone Marshes was a despicable place, one that should've never been entered, yet here you were, panting on your back and gritting your teeth as Aedion prepared gods knew what for everyone to eat on your first night in them. "Again." Fenrys commanded as you pulled yourself from the ground, "If you can disarm me, you can disarm anyone." You gritted your teeth and stood your ground, preparing to strike again when Rowan called him away to start his watch, you'd take him his meal later you decided.
Dorian sidled up beside you, he'd been unusually quiet these past few days. "So…the wolf?" He questioned with a smirk and you felt your cheeks heat, "So…the witch?" You questioned back. His smirk turned feline. "Fair enough." You laughed at him. "There's nothing between us, he's training me, we're going to war, Dorian and Chaol isn't here to teach me." His face fell. "Why did you stay? In the castle with me?" He asked quietly, so you were doing this now then, the conversation that had yet to happen about why you'd stayed while he was enslaved by the collar. "Because Chaol couldn't." Dorian's eyes turned stormy, "Y/N-" You cut him off, "I didn't want you to be alone, Dorian. I didn't know if you were still in there, but if you were, I didn't want you to be alone." He smiled gently and took your hand, his movements tracked, you noticed, by the white haired witch across the fire and the White Wolf on the rocks above.
"I don't deserve the loyalty you and Chaol give me." You squeezed his hand and smiled at him gently, "We don't give it to you blindly, Dorian, we give it to you because we believe in you and the world you'll help create. I give it to you for the little boy who got in heaps of trouble for breaking a bullies nose for me when we were seven, I give it to you for rejecting any and all proposed marriage matches for me, for always making sure I have a choice, in every aspect of my life." He sighed, pulling you into his side, his movements still being tracked, "I feel like I haven't given you one in this. You're being dragged into a war, I should've found you somewhere safe." Pressing closer into his side you said, "I had a choice, I could've gone with Chaol and Nesryn, but they have eachother and you'd have been alone, I chose to stay with you." He kissed the top of your head then, and Manon tensed ever so slightly across the fire and the White Wolf above loped away.
You were sure you did not want to know what Aedion had served you for dinner, you'd agreed with Aelin when she asked to never be told what she was eating. Balancing a bowl of whatever Aedion had cooked up in one hand and a skin of water in the other you trugged up the slope to find Fenrys. Your right foot caught in a root and your left began to slide backwards when you felt a weight behind you, pushing you back upright. You turned and smiled at the wolf. "I bought you dinner, I don't know what it is, I thought best not to ask, but I don't know if you hunt and eat as a wolf but I didn't want you to be hungry if you didn't and I just assumed that you did," You were well aware you were rambling and you cringed at yourself. With a flash the wolf was a man again and he took the bowl from your hands. "Thank you, Y/N." You could feel the heat rising in your cheeks as he studied you, "Show me your footwork and the moves we went through yesterday while I eat?" He asked as he handed you the dagger from its sheath at his hip. So you did.
Halfway through the steps he asked, "So you and Dorian?" You stopped, "What about me and Dorian?" His eyes hardened, "You seemed very close earlier?" Was he jealous? "He asked me why I stayed in the castle after Chaol fled." He nodded once, "Why did you?" He asked, so you told him, "I don't think he remembers, I told him the scars on my face were from the castle shattering, but it was that thing inside him, trying to break him, he shouldn't have to live with that when it wasn't him that did it, not really" Fenrys clenched his jaw, "There's nothing like that between Dorian and I, not now." His eyebrows rose, "Not now?" Your cheeks heated again, "Well, there never really was, just this this one time when we were 16, we decided to have our first time together after too much wine, we thought it was a good idea to get it over and done with, to take the pressure away from it being with someone we were interested in romantically." He nodded again, "I don't regret it." You weren't sure why you felt the need to add that on but you did. "It was awful." You confessed and finally Fenrys laughed, "That's often the way with first times." You smiled at him, "I don't see him like that, nor does he see me like that." He took a breath and made another oath, "No one will touch you again." The conversation was left there, "Show me the steps once more then go and get some rest." That night and every other night spent in the Marshes, you woke to a White Wolf curled around you, one of its Onyx eyes open, always watching. It was never spoken about. Nor was it spoken about how Fenrys had thrown himself off of the rocks he was shooting arrows at the Ilken from when Aelin's power exploded and threw himself over you like a shield.
It hurt to think about what happened on the beach, you'd spotted Lorcan jump in a long boat heading to shore where he'd left Elide, Gavriel and Fenrys long gone, the blood oath calling them to their master you were sure. Elide had become your friend and you were teaching her how to read and write, so you jumped and swam. You couldn't imagine how much it hurt Rowan, to have arrived too late, you knew he'd have let himself be killed to get Aelin to safety. It gutted you to see the warriors powerless and it made you sick to your stomach as you watched Aelin be whipped over and over again, refusing to count.
Fenrys knew he was helpless from the moment he and Gavriel appeared right where Maeve had summoned them, he'd fought it for as long as he could, they both had. Before they'd used his power to jump from the boat he'd looked at her one last time, to find her already watching him, both betrayal and understanding shone in her eyes and he couldn't take it, so, like a coward, he'd grabbed Gavriel and they were gone.
The young Queen, his young Queen wasn't going to last, each whip sounded like the earth was shattering, Gavriel was still trying to right himself from the blood oath being ripped from him, Lorcan was doing the same, Elide was hissing at him like an angry cat, to fight it, to help Aelin, to do something, she pleaded with the witch as well. He wouldn't be so lucky, he knew that. Maeve wouldn't take the oath from him knowing how much he openly despised it. He didn't think he could despise it more until her scent hit him, she was coming and he couldn't stop her, she breezed past him, throwing herself at Maeve, his dagger in hand, the same one he'd handed her this morning, with another promise that he would be close by, the dark queen simply laughed at her and flicked her wrist as darkness slammed into Y/N and sent her flying backwards, he wasn't quick enough to stop the warning growl that left his throat and Maeve's smile turned snakelike.
"Fenrys," She crooned, "Keep your new pet controlled and on the ground." He gritted his teeth, he would not do it, he would not obey. He would not- "Would you rather I ask Cairn to give her the same treatment as my dear niece?" He was moving instantly, he pulled her up as gently as he could. "Please." She begged him quietly, "Don't do this, help her." Silver lined her eyes and Fenrys couldn't look at her. "Such a pretty face." Maeve purred as she dragged the tip of her dagger from Y/N's forehead to her jaw, not hard enough to draw blood but hard enough to be a warning to Fenrys. Instead Maeve struck her with her other hand. He swore he could hear Y/N's teeth rattle as her lip split, she struggled against him, absolute betrayal was all he saw in her face now. "Down, in the sand." Maeve commanded and so he pushed her down so she was lying face down in the sand, she had to hate him, he had to make sure she wouldn't follow, "You promised." She whimpered. Maeve laughed again, Aelin contained in her coffin, she commanded him to leave, his eyes met Gavriel's. Don't let her move, he willed his friend as he stood. Gavriel was there, pulling her up and into his chest as she shouted down the beach after him. "You swore!" Each word like a hot poker to his heart. "You swore you'd be here, that you wouldn't leave!" So Fenrys did the worst thing he could think of, he stopped next to Maeve who was watching him carefully, "I lied, pathetic human. You really thought I'd stay, for you?" He raised an eyebrow at her and saw his words hit their mark, saw her shrink into Gavriel's chest, then, to seal it, to truly break any trust or hope she had in him or for him, he turned to the dark queen and kissed her. "I missed you Majesty."
Fenrys woke with a jolt, Aelin watching him from the stone slab, a dream, it was a dream. She blinked at him. I am here, I am with you. It was either dreams of her, or his brother, which is why he tried his best not to sleep until his body gave out from the exhustion.
You and Gavriel had never spoken of those minutes on the beach where you'd clung to him like he was a teather to the earth, he healed your lip silently as you cried, as Elide pushed away from Lorcan and crawled towards Manon. Aedion pulled you away from his father with a growl, "What happened?" He demanded and through your tears all you could do was shake your head, he asked again and again until Dorian had pushed him away, folding you into his chest. Rowan holding a knife to Lorcan, he was saved by Elide who retold the story.
So a plan was made, Rowan would go with Gavriel, Lorcan and Elide to find her. Dorian was reluctant to let you go with them but he knew you'd go regardless so he agreed and went with the witches. Aedion and Lysandra disguised as Aelin would head back up North.
You were walking arm in arm with Elide when it happened, Gavriel and Lorcan in front of you stopped dead, Rowan taking up the rear was frozen on the hill. "What's happening?" Elide asked Gavriel as he and Lorcan rushed towards Rowan. The two of you caught the tail end of the conversation. "It came from the North, from Doranelle." Rowan looked lighter than he had in weeks, "She's alive." He breathed.

On Leandra's Last Words
Warnings: discussion of the events of "All That Remains" in DA2, including murder, gore, body horror, and the death of a parent.
So, in the past year I've played Dragon Age II, uh… four times, and in the hindsight of Inquisition, something about a certain quest stands out to me.
In the Act II main quest "All That Remains," the protagonist's mother Leandra Hawke is murdered by a serial killer, a man named Quentin who targets women with features resembling his late wife over the course of several years, and attempts to use blood magic to stitch their dismembered body parts together to recreate her. Leandra's face is the final piece, and poor Hawke has to see their mother's head with another women's eyes attached to this re-animated Frankenstein's monster. Quentin's death breaks the spell, and Leandra dies in Hawke's arms. Before she dies, Leandra comforts Hawke, telling them that she'll get to see their dead father and sibling again, and that she is proud of them.
How exactly Quentin performs this gruesome ritual isn't detailed, and for story purposes, we do not need to know. We know that he uses blood magic, that he calls demons to possess the bodies of the murdered women. This is likely how he is able to reanimate the patchwork body he reconstructs. In the battle that ensues, Hawke and their party have to kill three desire demons called "Possession of Alessa," "Possession of Ninette," and "Possession of Leandra."
What matters for the purposes of the game is that what Quentin does is unusual but basically plausible within the parameters of the universe, and a gruesome example of the more sinister capabilities of magic.
We do know that, at least in the context of Kirkwall and probably the southern Circles as a whole, Quentin's particular form of necromancy was at least somewhat novel. In a secret letter to his "friend and colleague," accompanying a delivery of forbidden books, First Enchanter Orsino writes:
Your last letter was fascinating! You have proven me wrong, once again, by doing the impossible. I shouldn't have doubted your resolve, and I hope you will keep me apprised of further progress.
Necromancy, the act of calling spirits to possess the bodies of the dead, is taboo in the south, but is not particularly groundbreaking in the grand scheme of things. Raising the dead is a common tactic for blood mages in the south. In Nevarra, necromancy is not only a highly respected school of magic, but one integral to Nevarran society and culture. It is suggested that in Tevinter, necromancy is not uncommon and may not even be considered a form of blood magic; it is Dorian's specialization and can be learned by a mage Inquisitor. So the mere act of calling spirits into the bodies of the dead, it is unlikely Orsino would have called "doing the impossible." The breakthrough seems to be that Quentin was able to Frankenstein the bodies of his victims into one, and perhaps to compel the spirits possessing them to act as one. (Orsino does the same with the bodies of dead Circle mages during the final battle, though the result is a lot uglier.)
By the time Hawke catches up with Quentin, Mharen and Ninette are long dead. That Hawke finds Ninette's dismembered hand back in Act I suggests that Quentin did not bother preserving the whole bodies of his victims, but instead took the parts he wanted and discarded the rest. Hawke finds a note in Quentin's lair about using quicklime to preserve a victim's feet, and being displeased with the texture, so we know he had means of preservation. Alessa, the woman Hawke finds kidnapped by Gascard du Puis, is also dead by the time Hawke arrives, and is named in one of the "Possessions" Hawke fights, but as her body appears to be intact, it's unclear if Quentin used any part of her body (which might just be a development oversight).
Leandra, however, is Quentin's last victim, only just taken, and it is her head Quentin uses, so when she speaks to Hawke at the very end, she appears to be alive. If Anders or Merrill have accompanied Hawke, they will remark that only Quentin's magic was keeping her alive, and apologize that they cannot help Leandra.
At this point, when we look at this scene, I find it almost certain that there is a spirit in Leandra's body at the very end.
Leandra has been beheaded. The demon possessing her body has been defeated and the mage who cast the spell is dead. By all rights, she should be dead already, and there should be no last words for Hawke to hear. Unless some other magic is at work.
I see two possibilities here.
First, we might have a situation like that of Wynne in Origins. When Wynne should otherwise have been killed by a demon during Uldred's rebellion, a spirit of faith which had followed Wynne for most of her life joined itself to her, and kept her alive. In fact, this spirit was able to keep Wynne alive for another decade, when she would send the spirit to save the life of the templar Evangeline, sacrificing her own life. While the spirit sustained Wynne's life beyond its natural end, so far as we know Wynne's own soul never left her body; the spirit came to her at the moment she would have died, and kept her alive. While a spirit can possess and animate the body of a dead person, they can't generally prevent the body from decaying (see: Justice and Kristoff's body), so I think it's safe to say based on her extended life that the real Wynne was still there.
A spirit could have come to Leandra at the moment she would have died, and sustained her just until Hawke could arrive, allowing her the chance to say goodbye.
The second possibility, which I think is as likely or more, is that Leandra is, in fact, already dead by the time Hawke arrives.
In various forms since DAII, we've seen that spirits may sometimes take the form of a person who has died, in order to carry out some sense of that individual's purpose. We have Cole the spirit taking on the form of Cole the human boy killed by templar neglect. We have the spirit who appears as Divine Justinia, guiding the Inquisitor through the Fade and helping them to regain their memories.
Hawke and Leandra seem to have a had a difficult relationship at times. Just how difficult depends on Hawke's dialogue choices and personality, and of course every player's own experience is going to color how they read Hawke's mother. In particular, Leandra seems to blame Hawke for their younger sibling's death, placing on her oldest child the responsibility for the family that might otherwise have fallen on Malcolm.
And what are Leandra's last words to Hawke? Exactly what Hawke needs to hear in that moment. That she's going to a better place. That she's proud of Hawke.
It is entirely possible that those are Leandra's own words.
I think it's also very possible they are the words of a spirit, perhaps of love or compassion. Maybe they're the words Leandra wished she could say before she died. Maybe they're simply the words the spirit knows Hawke needs to hear.

I love Desmond time travel fix it fics. What if Desmond went back in time (starting at when Altair was just born) and Desmond is immortal (Isu bullshit) and wore a mask 24/4 and say fuck it and became a bodyguard or acolyte for all the assassin's creed protagonists (Ezio, Edward, Connor maybe Haytham, the Frye twins and Arno and maybe also prevent Shay from becoming a Templar). It would be so cool if Desmond became some legend or myth to all the Brotherhood like picking you as his master is like your fated for glory and for your AltDes heart, maybe some novice saw his face and see similar like Altair and thought it was some contribute or honor for his first master (Altair) or the Japanese legend that says your present face is the face of the one you loved most in your past life (If Desmond kept his immortality a secret)
(Okay, so I wanted to try something different. Like an outside POV of a preacher or something similar)
Come and let me tell you the tale of the being without a face.
They say he first appeared in front of the great Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. But many would say he appeared in front of Altaïr’s father first, to Umar Ibn-La'Ahad during his time of need.
A man who has lost his wife and gained a son on that very same day.
Some say he is a djinn who saw Umar’s grief and weakness.
Some say he is an angel who heard of Umar’s prayers.
All that we know is he is not a man.
But a being.
Perhaps a djinn.
Perhaps an angel.
Perhaps even one of the old gods.
What he is will remain a mystery but what is true about him is that he will support the ones who will bring glory to our Brotherhood.
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad pushed our Brotherhood to new heights with his support.
House Auditore flourished with his help and the great Ezio Auditore destroyed the Templars in Italy with him by his side.
Edward Kenway turned from a glory-seeking selfish pirate to the best mentor the British Brotherhood ever had thanks to his guidance.
Shay Cormac saved Lisbon from an impending earthquake thanks to his warning.
Ratonhnhaké:ton destroyed the Colonial Rites of Templars together with his father, Haytham Kenway, with his help.
Arno Dorian brokered a peace between the Assassins and the Templars with his support.
Evie and Jacob Frye liberated London from Templar hands thanks to his council.
Our Brotherhood has prospered and evolved under his watchful gaze.
Yet now, he stays hidden, only appearing to offer words of wisdom to us when needed.
For a long time, he has not accepted any new master.
But if you ever see him…
And you are courageous enough…
Perhaps, you might be able to take his mask off and then you will see.
The face underneath is nothing but a mirror of the face of the great Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
For you see, legend says that, to this day, he still grieves the passing of his first true master.
And he waits for the day that Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad would live once more.
.
.
.
.
“What do you think about the story, hijo?” A woman with black hair asked as she held the hand of her child.
“It’s kinda sad.” The child replied as they continued to walk towards their small home in this little compound they were living in.
“Yes, it is. But do you know something?”
“Hm?”
“The blood of the great Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad flows through your veins.”
“Does that mean I can be Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad?” The child asked as he looked at his mother with wide eyes.
The woman chuckled softly before replying, “Maybe. If you work really hard on your training…”
“I don’t like training…” The boy pouted as he looked away from his mother.
“I know.” The woman stopped walking just as they reached their front door and knelt in front of her son. She placed her hands on the boy’s shoulders as she reminded him, “But you must do it, I’m afraid. You have to be prepared at all times. Because the Templars-”
The door opened and they both turned to see the stern expression of the boy’s father.
“Desmond.” The man stepped to the side and the boy sees a hooded figure wearing a white mask with golden lines all over.
“Someone is here to see you.”

26 - Blasts From The Past
Tumblr media
Part 27
Family is More than Blood
@secretdreamlandmentality @icefrye19
Salvatore School - current timeline
"I can't believe mom did this to us. Does she not believe we are strong enough to handle this?" Alina snapped, laying back on the couch in front of the fireplace.
Missy was standing by the fireplace. "She had a valid point with you being pregnant."
"Since when has being pregnant in this family ever stopped mom from kicking ass!" She snapped to her twin.
Hope huffed. "Enough both of you. We can be angry with our parents after we rescue them and the Saltzman’s from the prison world."
"How are we even supposed to get there though? Mom took the Ascendant with her, didn't she?" Missy shrugged her shoulders with a questionable look.
The oldest Mikaelson daughter spoke up again. "I took the one that Alyssa created so we’ll just use that one.”
Footsteps came into the room quickly to show the three Mikaelson that it was Andrea. “Hey, Henrik keeps asking what is going on and my parents just saw me checking on Rapunzel and Charming.” She said pointing over her shoulder with her thumb.
“We can’t keep a secret from them I guess. But they’ll have to have us help if they want to know what has happened.” Hope crossed her arms over her chest not backing down.
Suddenly they heard the wind blow into the room and Jaocb and Hayley were standing beside their daughter now. Hayley put a hand on her hip eyeing the future Tribrid. “Oh we believe you, Hope. Now what exactly happened to your Heretic mother and Hybrid father.”
“You don’t know what Kai was like, Hayley. Rae showed me what he did at Jo and Alaric’s wedding. He didn’t care that he stabbed his sister with a knife. He just wanted to be the leader no matter the consequences to others. He’s ruthless.” Our Uncle J explained to his wife.
Missy walked over to the three. “Okay, so let’s do the prison world spell and rescue them.” The front door of the school opened and everyone turned their heads not expecting to have anybody else coming into the room at that moment. Dorian came inside and had someone wearing a light gray suit and tie following behind him.
"Fam, meet - Joshua. Old friend of Ric's. And drumroll, please. He's also an expert on prison worlds. I told him about our problem." Dorian explained with the three Mikaelson’s trying not to give him a concerned face.
The man that had dark almost black hair stepped to Hope who was holding the Ascendant asking and she reluctantly gave it over. "Do you mind if I? Thank you so much. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. It is in pieces. Oh, my…"
He gasped hearing a faint sound from inside. "There's a linking spell on this. It produces a, a faint hum, like a, like a melody, if you, if you know what to listen for."
Andrea leaned in to listen but was confused when he snatched it away from her ear. "You clearly don't. When the Saltzmans performed their spell on-on this ascendant, they were being tied to another. Hold this." But he tossed it towards her chest.
Alina grunted, raising herself from the couch. "So what exactly does that mean we need to do, Mr. Joshua?"
"That witch of yours didn't send them to, you know, a new, empty prison world. She sent them somewhere, somewhere far older and much more dangerous. And you're going to need my help to get them out." Kai turns his head towards the pregnant werewitch clasping his hands together.
Hayley could feel the unspoken tension in the room so she looped her arm through Kai's and began leading him away with Dorian. "Dorian, why don't you show Ric's old friend around a bit while we gather what we need, yeah."
"Sounds good." The clearly compelled human said leading the pair away from the group.
Jacob waited until they weren't in ear shot whispering to his three nieces. "How the hell did he get out but they didn't. We have to tell your mother somehow before things get out of hand here."
"It's not good if he's here." Andrea added on shoving her hands inside the pockets of her jacket. "Do you think he knows that we know?"
Missy gulped nervously. "I hope not. Otherwise we're screwed."
"Look we all know Kai is here and that he's a threat to the school sp this is what we are going to do. Uncle Jacob, you and Hayley make sure he doesn’t do anything to destroy the school. Andrea, we're gonna need your help with the Ascendant and that leaves the rest of us to break the spell and bring everyone home." Hope declared to the group who were all in agreement.
An innocent voice met their ears. "What about me?" Henrik was peeking his head around the corner.
"You little brother have the most important job of all…staying out of trouble and watching your baby brother and sister for us." Alina moved in between her sisters picking up her brother in her arms even though her belly was making it more of a challenge now. "Can you do that for us, Hen?"
He nodded with a smile. "Yeah."
"To bringing the family back." Jacob stuck his hand out and everyone placed their hands on top of his declaring back to him.
"To bringing the family back!"
Raelyn’s pov - prison world
Klaus and I had headed back to the Salvatore house and Josie had gone off to find her father. Kicking opened the front door I stomped through the house not caring if we were being loud. Throwing my hands up in the air I grumbled. "I can't believe I let him get away with the Ascendant. Stupid, stupid, Raelyn. I let my gut down just a wee bit and he double crossed us again!"
"Rae, there's nothing we can do about it now. But I agree that he will get what he deserves when we get out of here." Klaus told me lifting his chin up hearing something in the distance. "Someone else is here."
Whipping my head around I throw some of my hair in my view seeing someone run around the corner revealing Alaric and Josie. Yet Josie was dressed in all black clothing and her eyes were darker than normal. Rushing over to the pair I noticed the familiar dark veins growing on her forehead and her body. "Josie, what the hell happened to you!"
"Someone told me the only way to get us out of here without the Ascendant was to take the black magic." She responded dryly.
"Kai Parker you son of a bitch!" I cursed under my breath until I noticed who was missing. "Wait Where's Lizzie?"
Alaric dropped his shoulders. "We found her on the side of the road in a crashed police car with Sebastian. I patched her wounds but she's resting now."
"Sebastian?" Klaus raised a brow at the former vampire hunter.
Turning my head slightly to my husband I answered. "Has dark hair like Damon but an accent like yours and-"
"And he's a bad boy." Alaric interrupted me.
Klaus nodded. "Ah I see now."
"Someone's here." Josie informed us before I spun around on my feet and saw my eldest daughters standing in front of us.
My daughter asked. "What happened to you?"
Josie told her. "I broke the Sandclock."
She gasped in regret. "Oh, my God, I'm so sorry."
Alaric and Klaus both shared the same confused look seeing us talking to a wall. "Honey, who are you talking to?"
Josie replied. "Hope she's astral-projecting."
Alaric warned her. "Listen, you have to warn her about Kai."
Hope knitted her brows. "Why? What happened?"
"Kai went into the Malivore pit, and we think he's trying to get to the real world." Josie explains.
My daughter bites her lip admitting my worst fear. "Actually, I think he's already here, pretending to be someone else. Kai's at the school….and just to point out mom this wouldn’t have happened if you let us help in the first place."
"Hope Andrea Mikaelson we're not talking about that right now and I stand by the decision I made-"
Alaric cut me off. "Hope? Listen to me, Kai's incredibly dangerous. You have to get him away from the school now."
Josie waved her hand, sending her off, turning back to our group. "Good luck, Hope. We need to do whatever it takes to get out of here."
"Josie, let me take the black magic from you and do the spell." I take her hands in mine eyeing the black veins that were visible, remembering all the trauma that was created when I had the same thing happen to me.
Klaus raised his voice at the mention. "Absolutely not, Raelyn. It could kill you!"
"And it will kill her if I let her do this. I'm not the weak siphon I used to be anymore." Flashing my fangs to my husband I focused my attention back to the girl. "Josie, please. I don't what I would do if I did nothing when I have lived through this myself."
She squeezed my hands walking away to get the things for the spell. "I'm stronger than you think Aunt Raelyn."
"We do the spell." Alaric nodded following after his daughter to check on Lizzie. "And I'll stay behind."
Nik placed a hand on my lower back sensing that I didn’t like the way the plan was going. Slumping my shoulders I ran my fingers through my hair feeling my stomach twisting in knots. “Rae, she’s young and like Josette. She will be able to do this.”
“I know, Nik. I still don’t have to like the idea.” I mumbled reaching down for his hand and he looped his fingers through mine. He squeezed my fingers before we vamped off to find the others and get out of this prison world once and for all.
Missy’s pov - Mystic Falls current timeline
Hope, Alina and I had met back up with Kai leading him into somewhere he believes there was a magical device we needed at. But it was just to keep him away from everyone else. Hope stared at him when he questionably looked around the storage area. “This doesn't seem like much of a spot for a powerful magical artifact.”
I snapped remembering the story of what Bonnie did to him when we were kids. “Neither does a stuffed teddy bear.”
“That's very good.” He chuckled.
Hope explains going over to a crate in search. “Dr. Saltzman hid what we need in one of these crates, so Look for the Salvatore logo.”
“It's a good thing there's not, like, 400 crates in here. Eeny, meeny, miny, crate. When you say Salvatore logo, you mean, like, that thing with the "S" and the squiggle?” Kai chuckles, turning his back to the three of us. Hope raised her hand using her magic, launching a piece of wood toward his back but he stopped it. “And so it begins.”
“Ascendo.” I raised a hand throwing a crate at him but he raised his hand smashing it with magic.
He got to his feet running towards me. “Nice try.” I vamped him against the wall where he grunted until he kicked me in the stomach harshly.
Alina growled, running head toward him and throwing punches at him. He blocked a few of them until she grabbed his wrist chanting a spell to block his powers even though he was a heretic like me. “Phasmatos tribum, exum sue, redem su pas quo-“
“I thought your mother would have taught you better and remember I don’t fight fair.” He grabs her wrist siphoning from her where she lowered herself onto her knees and he pushed her down onto the floor.
Hope snapped her fingers and managed to break one of his knees for a second. “Errox femus.” She then took the chance and kicked his other leg out.
Kai swiped her leg out from under her through. She fell on her knees and kicked his leg again but it was clear that he could have moved away from her advance. “You could have blocked that.” Hope pointed out when he sat upright from the wooden ground.
The psychopath dryly laughed at us. “Yeah, you're right. I-I just wanted you to think you were doing a good job.”
Hope stepped a few steps away from him. “You're not trying to beat me.”
Kai grunted getting to his feet, smirking at the triplets proudly. “Oh, no. No, not for a a few more minutes. Because right now, Alyssa Chang is performing a spell that will sever my connection to the prison world.”
“She can’t do that. She’s not strong enough on her own.” I attempted to remain calm.
He tilted his head to the side. “Yeah you make a good point. Unless I brought over an extra source of magic that would make her have the power of a thousand year old witch.”
“The Hollow….we sent the stake into his prison world, not a new one.” Alina smacked her forehead in regret and I could hear Hope’s heartbeat increasing in fear just the same.
Raising my hand I choked Kai where he grabs his neck even though I couldn’t kill him. “You really are a psychopath if you’re willing to let our mother die. And for what just because you find enjoyment in it. You already took away Josie and Lizzie’s mom.”
“Nobody’s been on my team my whole life, Meli. So forgive me if I don’t see the whole desire to feel bad for what I’ve done.” He clasped his hands together pushing through the pain that I was causing him. “But you should be more concerned with the fate of your mommy since that place was created for me, once she's done…”
“The world will disappear. Along with everyone inside of it.” Hope put the pieces together through a sharp gasp and her heart skipped a beat.
“Oops.” Kai just simply smiled.
Alina waved her hands and shoved him against one of the wooden posts trapping him there with large metal chains. “Remember this Kai Parker. If my mother doesn’t kill you for what you did to our family then mark my word I certainly will!” She stomps up to him grabbing his chin in her freehand flashing her werewolf eyes sounding just like our father.
The three of us quickly rushed back to the school as fast as possible, finding Alyssa sitting in the center of a candle circle and a spell book at the end of her knees. Hope ran forward but she smacked into a barrier spell. “You really are a basic witch.”
I begged the witch not wanting to see our family die because of Kai Parker. “Alyssa, please.”
“I don't want them back. Not now, not ever.” She scoffed.
Alina snapped at her. “If you finish that spell, you'll kill them all. Are you that stupid to believe that nobody would get hurt!”
She mumbled looking away from us. “He didn't say anything about that.”
“Well, think about it. If you sever the connection, the prison world collapses. Everyone in it will die.” Hope lowers herself on a knee trying to talk her out of this idea. “Look, I know that you're angry, and I know that you want to hurt them. But you're not a murder. Trust me, you don't want to be responsible for someone's death. It stays with you. You carry it forever.”
Alyssa stepped away from the Ascendent until the pieces started turning without her doing anything. I gasped seeing a bright flash covering my eyes before I saw Lizzie and Alaric sitting on the floor. “Oh my god. You guys are alright.” Bolting forward I tackled the pair in a bear hug each.
Another flash occurred and we saw our father come back next. He got to his feet rushing to Alina who hugged him tightly. “I’m here, Lina.” He whispered hearing another flash of magic and we saw our mother snap upright with a gasp crying happy tears when she saw we were all there.
“Mom!” Hope flung her arms around her crying for a moment hearing a final flash noticing that it was Josie. The Saltzman girl rose to her feet smiling at our group until all of us embraced each other in a family hug.
Raelyn’s pov
Sliding on one of Nik’s sweatshirt over my head I was so tired from the day we had. Tying my hair up in a messy bun walking through the old storage facility where Alina had informed us they had trapped Kai Parker. “Are you ready to do this, Alaric?”
“It’s time to put an end to our suffering. He took too much from the both of us.” He responded by showing me a metal tall pickaxe in his right hand. He let the end of the blade slide across the ground creating sparks until we reached where Kai was chained up.
Kai sent me a puppy face. “Awe Rae Rae, great I was hoping to see you.”
“You tried to get one of our students to kill us all, you psychopath.” I got in his face harshly grabbing his shoulders and he winced when I used his blood boiling spell against him one final time. “Phasmatos navaro pulsus sanguinox….any last words, cousin?”
Kai gasped when I removed my hands, sighing in relief. “We could have been a good team, you and I…And you won’t be safe after I’m gone.”
“Ric, get it over with.” I stepped backwards, shoving my hands in the loops of my jeans glaring at my cousin. “You are finally getting what you deserve!”
Kai chuckled at Alaric. “Given all we've been through, this feels a little anticlimactic. Don't you think?”
“Not to me. This is for Jo.” Alairc raised the blade behind his head and he swung it, cutting his head off.
Laying on the bed alone in our bedroom I was just resting with my eyes closed. Klaus was downstairs reading to Rapenzal and Charming like he had done with all of our kids when they were babies. Someone knocked on the door and then I opened my eyes seeing it was Alyssa and she closed the door secretly locking it behind her. “Hi Mrs. Mikaelson, I just thought I’d come by and apologize for what I almost did tonight.”
“Uh thanks Alyssa. But it’s really not necessary. It was Kai just being his usual self. Thankfully we won’t have to deal with him anymore.” Sliding to the edge of the bed with my legs hanging over the side.
She crossed the room holding something behind her back until she was standing so close I could almost fall back onto the mattress. “Speaking of Kai he asked me to give you a message with this…” She revealed the white oak stake from behind her back pushing me down onto the bed.
“Urgh Alyssa!” I groaned holding the tip of the stake with my hands while she tightly held the top end just to the side of my heart. “What are you doing?”
The young witch pushed the tip of the stake into my chest where I grunted in some pain. She gripped her nails into the stake and I gasped for air seeing her eyes turn bright blue reminding me of the Hollow. “The Hollow wants you to suffer. Louvre, louvre animo. Pemet you accesses…Dedisco.”
I kicked the witch in the gut and she fell onto the floor giving me the chance to grab the stake in my hands. Standing above her I gasped feeling my wound healing slowly still in shock. “What the hell was that for, Alyssa!”
“It doesn’t matter. I just want you to answer one question.” She scrambled to her feet standing away from me and her eyes returned to their normal color. “Who is Klaus Mikaelson?”
Knitting my brows I started to answer her but paused thinking really hard about that name. Yet nothing was coming back to my memory so I had no choice but to reply with the response. “I’ve never heard that name before in my life. I don’t remember anyone named Klaus Mikaelson.”

Niki drops his school backpack onto the floor as he stands in the doorway of the house, the face of disbelief towards his six hyungs.
“We are moving again?”
Sunoo thins his lips into a line, crossing his arms and taking a step back away from his hyungs in case Niki decides to start throwing things. The maknae looked PISSED.
Heeseung sighed, “Unfortunately…yes.”
Archer slaps his hands on the table, “And what if Dorian comes back and my sister is with him?!”
Jake tucked his lips between his teeth, looking away from his mate's brother, his eyes getting glossy.
Sunghoon chips in, “What if he has __ with him too! This land has all her coven's secrets, if he comes back with the girls we NEED to be here!”
Archer agreed with Sunghoon, “And Jake, how can you agree to this when he took YOUR MATE!! my TWIN SISTER!!”
Jake shook his head, “I don’t agree with this! I want to be here just as much as you two!” He snapped.
The three of them started bickering, causing Jay to tense his jaw and start yelling, “HEY HEY HEY! That’s enough!!”
The room fell silent. Everyone’s eyes are on Jay.
“We are leaving because it’s no longer safe here!” Jay snapped, “Dorian is clearly planning something, and if there’s something with __’s coven here, he’s going to exploit that.”
Sunghoon balled his hands into fists at his side, locking his jaw into place.
Jay continued, “We have to protect who we can, and we have to be smart ab-“
Sunghoon interrupted, “About what we have to protect?! What about what I have to protect!!”
Jungwon stepped in, “Listen we all have-“
“No!” Sunghoon yelled, pointing two fingers at Jay and Jungwon, “You two have your mates! Neither of you has to deal with that painful tug of them not being at your side like Jake and myself! Try to imagine how it must feel if Dorian took __ and __ !!!”
“Sunghoon that’s enough!” Heeseung snapped, “We are a fucking family for crying out loud. We feel __ and __ missing presences too. We are trying here, Sunghoon, but we need to get information, and sitting here waiting for Dorian isn’t the right move!”
Jake places a hand on his best friend’s shoulder. Sunghoon’s legs gave out on him, falling to the floor, “I’m sorry…”
The room once again fell silent. Jay knelt down beside Sunghoon, pulling him into a hug as Sunghoon cried out for his lost love.
Sunoo looked away, seeing his brothers hurt wasn’t easy.
“We leave tomorrow,” Jungwon softly spoke, “Archer will be our eyes and ears if anything happens here.”
“Where are we going?” Niki asked.
“Into another city,” Heeseung said, “We are going to split back up into living in different apartments, to keep our safety. We also bought a loft at another apartment complex that we will go to if needed for our safety as well.”
Jungwon continued after Heeseung, “We won't discuss where the apartments are here, we believe there might be someone following us, so from now on we won’t discuss anything more until we get into the city, understood?”
Everyone nodded.
“Good,” Jungwon nodded too, “Everyone get some sleep, we leave early.”
Niki raised his hand, “Please tell me I don’t have to attend another school.”
“You start the day after we get into the city.” Jay said, “Go to bed.”
Sunoo walked down the hospital halls, eyes roaming until he found the correct room.
Without knocking, Sunoo slipped inside the room, “Hyung! I have your food!~” he sang as he set the plastic bag on the desk.
Jay looked up at him, eyebrow raised.
Sunoo continued giving off his big sunshine smile, as Jay slowly opened the bag, “What are you doing here?”
Sunoo pouted, “Can I not bring my older brother food?”
Jay pulled out the bags of blood, glaring at Sunoo, “You carried these with you?! Just out in the open!?”
Sunoo rolled his eyes and leaned over, connecting his elbows to the desk and face in his hands.
“No, I snuck into the closet supply where you keep them and slipped them into a convenience store bag.”
Jay sighed, slumping down into his chair, “Did you really?”
Sunoo smiled, “No, I brought them from home.”
All Jay could do was roll his eyes, sliding the bag into his desk drawer.
“Why are you actually here?”
“Was curious how this new hospital was treating you and Heeseung.”
“It’s fine, we’ve both been very busy.”
Suno scoffed, “Yeah, I know. Family dinners haven’t been the same since leaving that farmhouse.”
Jay groaned, dropping his head into his hands, “It’s been almost two weeks and I feel like I haven’t properly slept.”
Sunoo’s eyes soften, he knows Jay and Heeseung have been working their asses off since coming into this city. All seven of them haven’t fully been together in two weeks. There was always someone missing.
“Hyung, maybe you need to request some time off and spend some time with the pack. Relax with __ a bit more.”
Jay shook his head, sitting up straight and scrolling through files on his computer, “I can’t rest until we’ve caught Dorian, get the girls back, and put an end to all this.”
All Sunoo could do was nod, he knew Jay wasn’t going to relax one bit.
“Where is __ at anyways?” Sunoo asked, seeing it weird that Jay’s mate wasn’t at his side.
“At our apartment,” Jay sighed, “Jungwon and __ are spending the day with her since she can’t be here at the hospital every day.”
Sunoo nodded, the staff would definitely find it weird if she followed Jay around everywhere he went. Plus Jay is a doctor, she can’t be around his patients either.
“How is Niki doing?” Jay asked in between writing something on his notepad and looking back at the files.
“School wise?” Sunoo shrugged, “He’s hating it.”
“Well, that’s to be expected. Little bro has graduated high school more times than the rest of us.”
Sunoo nodded, “For sure. But he joined the soccer team, so he’s been keeping busy for the most part. His grades are high as well, no need to worry.”
“Good, good.” Jay wrote something down.
“Can you not be a doctor for twenty minutes while I am here?”
Jay glared at him, “I still have to fulfill my working duties. We still need money after all.”
Sunoo rolled his eyes, knowing the older was obviously right, but choosing to be sassy anyway.
“What about Sunghoon and Jake?” Jay asked, “How are they… coping?”
Sunoo released a sigh, “Just as good as anyone would think. They don’t leave their apartment often. It’s mostly Niki and myself going to theirs and making sure they are drinking properly.”
Jay slowly nodded. There wasn’t much to say about Sunghoon and Jake. Their mates were taken from them and are completely powerless on the whole matter. Nothing can be done until a way is found to stop Dorian.
Sunoo felt sorry for his hyungs, watching them slowly tear themselves apart was destroying him too. Sunoo obviously felt that the presence of their mates missing, they were all in a pack after all, and everyone was connected. But Sunoo could only imagine how terribly more it was affecting them than the others.
“How much longer are you going to be here? I have a surgery scheduled in thirty minutes.”
Sunoo smiled brightly, “Until you leave for the surgery.
You quickly waved your hands over your ears, watching as they went from a point to being round like a normal human's ears.
You took a deep breath in, holding it for a few seconds before slowly releasing it.
You were nervous. It was your first official day as a nurse.
It wasn’t the fact that you were now fully a certified nurse that had your nerves in a bunch. You are a magical elf who is still trying to learn to control your powers.
You splashed water on your face and took another deep breath in.
You decided becoming a nurse would be a better fit for you than anything else. You could help put your powers to good use, just…can’t get caught. You found medicine very interesting anyway, and want to help people. This way is the best option to go with.
You double-checked both ears once more in the mirror before walking out of the bathroom, completely running into someone the minute you opened the door.
“Oh, I am so sorry!” You quickly said, realizing who was in front of you. More embarrassment washing over you, “Oh my god, I am so sorry Dr. Lee!”
Heeseung smiled sweetly, rubbing his arm where the door hit him.
“Don’t worry about it! It didn’t hurt at all! And please, just call me Heeseung.”
You slowly nodded, feeling your face heat up.
“You’re the nurse on duty for myself and Dr. Park today, correct?”
You nodded again, “It’s my first day out of just clinical so I am a bit nervous.”
Heeseung gave you a soft smile, “Well, from the two weeks I’ve known you, you are doing great!”
You felt your face flush once more and your heart raced. Why was he so handsome?
“I am actually heading over to Dr. Park’s office right now, care to follow?”
You nodded once again, following behind him.
You asked him how well he was adjusting to the hospital, mostly since he’s still a fairly new doctor here.
Which is why you think you connected so quickly with him. You both were new (well, he wasn’t new to being a doctor but new to the area) and still trying to find your footing here.
Heeseung opened the door to Dr. Park’s office and let you walk in first.
To your surprise, there was someone else here too.
He sat on the corner of the desk, slightly kicking his legs back and forth.
He was smiling so brightly at Dr. Park, that his smile could be confused with the sun.
He slowly turned his head and looked at you.
The moment you both locked eyes, something in your heart pulled.
Sunoo felt it too. The moment he locked eyes with you, his heart felt like it was going to cut his chest from the inside out and jump into your arms.
“Oh, Sunoo! What are you doing here?” Heeseung asked, smiling at him. Walking closer, “Where is Niki?” Heeseung wrapped an arm around Sunoo’s neck, earning another bright smile to fall onto his lips.
“School, he has soccer practice.” Sunoo continued swinging his feet, causing Jay to snap.
“Hey hey! Get off my desk!”
You chuckled softly, earning a gaze from all three men.
“I am so sorry for laughing…” You quickly apologize, “I just never saw Dr. Park snap like that before.”
“Yeah, Dr. Park,” Sunoo teased, “Why are you snapping at me like that?”
Jay tensed his jaw, “Please get off my desk before I beat your ass.” He said through his teeth.
Sunoo gave a wink and hopped off the desk.
“Also, Y/N,” Jay said, looking at you, “Please just call me Jay. No need for formalities.”
You nodded, kinda happy to be on that close of a level with them to go by first names.
The three boys continued talking. You studied the three of them, listening as Jay complains about the one named Niki playing soccer and how Heeseung said he approved of it.
The one named Sunoo you assumed was also one of their siblings.
You’ve heard Heeseung talk about how Jay is his brother and there are five others. And from the way they are all speaking to each other, Sunoo has to be one of the five.
Your eyes kept landing back on Sunoo, your heart doing multiple flips every time he caught you looking at him.
Sunoo could practically hear how fast your heart was racing. It was taking everything in him to not completely crumble down at your feet.
Sunoo couldn’t help but admire how beautiful you are. How cute your shy mannerisms were to him. How you would blush when he looked your way. It was way too adorable and he couldn’t handle it.
But he also noticed something was…off. There was an aura that radiated off you. He just couldn’t put his finger on what it could be.
“Okay. Sunoo,” Jay said checking his watch, “We have that surgery now. Go home.”
Sunoo pouted but nodded, “Fineeeeee.”
You stood off to the side, letting Heeseung and Jay walk out first, and then Sunoo.
But to your surprise he stopped in front of you, leaning slightly down to be at eye level with you.
Your face blushed at how close he was. You took a small step back, “what?” you asked, letting out a soft nervous giggle, “Is there something on my face? In my hair?”
You used the chance to cup your hands over your ears, making sure they weren’t in a point and sticking out between the strands of your hair.
Sunoo smiled at you, “Just admiring how cute you are.”
Sunoo skipped away after saying that, leaving you as an actual puddle on the floor.
“Oh, and it was Y/N, right?” He asked, turning around to face you again.
You nodded, “And it was Sunoo, right?” you asked, copying his words.
He nodded, “Mhmm. I’ll see you around, Y/N.”
It’s been four days since you’ve last seen him.
You found yourself always stopping by Jay’s and Heeseung’s office, peeking in to see if the ball of sunshine was there.
You always sighed at the sight of him not being there, your heart feeling a sadness you can’t describe.
Two more days passed before you finally saw him again.
You sat in Heeseung’s office, looking over the X-rays from a patient who had broken their leg.
Heeseung pointed out the area around the break with his pen, talking about the best course of action to help heal the bones.
With your powers, you could heal this patient easily, but you knew you couldn’t. If anyone found out what you were…
The sound of the door opening jumped you out of your thoughts, seeing Sunoo skipping inside the room.
You felt your heart jump for joy at seeing his bright smile. The pull feeling becomes stronger.
“Heeseung Hyung~” Sunoo sang, “And hello miss Y/N.”
You smiled softly, giving him a shy wave.
You saw a face peek from behind Sunoo, his blond hair slightly covering his eyes as he looked around the room with his hands in his hoodie pocket.
“Sunoo, and Niki,” Heeseung welcomed them, “What brings you two here?”
“He picked me up from soccer practice and drugged me here,” Niki mumbled, “I am ready to go home.”
Sunoo rolled his eyes, “It was an important stop.”
Niki crossed his arms, “Was it?”
Heeseung sighed, “Please don’t argue in my office, go bother Jay if that’s what you came to do.”
Sunoo’s eyes perked up, “I am actually here for Y/N.”
You looked up at him in surprise, “M-me?”
Sunoo nodded, getting back into your personal space, his face inches away from yours, “How would you like to go on a date with me tonight?”
Sunoo fluffed his hair in the mirror, making sure it looked perfect. Double checking all the piercings in his ears were all in place and rebrushed his teeth.
Niki button smashed the Nintendo Switch controller in his hands at the video game he was playing, slightly turning around behind him for a second, seeing Sunoo freshening himself up.
“Hyung,” Niki called out, turning his attention back to the television, “You're really serious about going on this date aren’t you?”
Sunoo grabbed his bag and pulled it onto his shoulder, “Yes, what’s wrong with me going on a date?”
Niki chuckled, “Nothing. It’s cute.”
Sunoo nodded, “Obviously.”
Niki paused the game, shifting himself on the couch to face Sunoo, “But I do think you’re going for another reason.”
Sunoo raised a brow, grabbing a blood bag and quickly sipping it down, “And that is?”
Niki smiled softly, “To figure out what she is.”
Sunoo smirked at the younger, “Funny you think I don’t already know.”
You looked down at your phone, checking to make sure the directions Sunoo texted you were correct, and sure enough they were.
The directions led you to a park. You walk past this park multiple times a day going to and from the hospital and your apartment but never once did you stop to actually come here.
It was beautiful. Filled with gorgeous trees and families walking with their children and dogs.
You searched for Sunoo until you found him sitting on a bench.
He had a drawing book in his hands, the pencil moving across the page.
You smiled, curious to see what he was drawing.
You slowly walked up behind him, peeking over his shoulder to see what he was drawing.
He was drawing the pond that sat a few yards in front of you both. Adding in the trees surrounding the area, and the family that was having a picnic beside the pond.
It was a beautiful drawing.
“I know you’re there, Y/N.”
Your heart stopped as you slightly jumped hearing his voice.
Sunoo hung his head back, giving you a smile, “Ready for our date?”
You nodded, watching as he stood up and slipped the pencil and drawing book into his bag.
“Let’s go~”
Sunoo reached his hand out to you, slowly placing your hand in his and following behind him.
Sunoo and you walked around the park. Talking about how both your days have been. How working at the hospital was.
You discovered Sunoo draws in his free time and sells them which helps pay for the apartment he shares with Niki.
You watched as Sunoo talked about his family, how happy and brightly he smiled as he spoke. Sunoo from what you could tell was the sassy one in the family, but he dearly loves them with his whole heart.
And that’s something that made you feel even more attracted to him.
Sunoo might have looked calm on the outside, but on the inside, he felt his heart was going to burst. Your hand fit so perfectly with his and all he wanted to do was skip and swing your arms back and forth together.
He might have multiple reasons to bring you here today, but he genuinely wanted to spend time with you. Sunoo tried so hard to mask how much he has thought about you since the meeting. Niki even noticed how hard he was trying to look presentable earlier.
Sunoo didn’t quite understand this feeling he was feeling yet. All he knew was it was fate to have met you.
“You must be really close with all your brothers.” You said, smiling wide at him, “It’s really cute.”
Sunoo chuckled, “Well, we aren’t actually brothers.” Sunoo released his hand from yours to skip in front of you, walking backward as you both talked.
“I kinda figured,” you shoved your hands into the pockets of your jacket, the cool breeze making them cold, “You all have different last names after all.”
Sunoo smiles, “Nonetheless, they are still my family. And I wouldn’t trade them for anything.”
Your pulled tugged even tighter to him, and you swore you saw it on his face that he felt that same tug.
Sunoo took a deep breath and then turned around, his back now facing you.
The sun finally set, leaving the park dark except for the few street lamps.
Sunoo stopped walking, “It’s sure dark out here.”
You nodded, glancing around the park, “You would think they’d add more lampposts out here.”
“Why don’t you set a light for us, hmm?”
Your heart stopped as you stood frozen. You were scared to look at him, scared to even move. Did you hear him correctly? Did he figure you out? If so then how?
You slowly turned your head, seeing Sunoo was still facing away from you.
“You don’t have to be afraid, Y/N.” Sunoo turned to you, “Just a small light will be fine.”
You stared at his cocoa eyes, trying to read them and what he could possibly be thinking.
Lifting your hand, you snap your fingers, and a small orb of light appears at your fingertips, illuminating the area around you both.
Sunoo smiled, “That’s my girl. You don’t have to hide your ears either, I bet they look adorable.”
“How did you figure it out?” you softly whispered, removing the illusion at your ears, then slowly growing to their normal point.
“It wasn’t hard to figure out that you were an elf, Y/N. You have that aura. I could sense it the moment we met.”
You narrowed your eyes at him, the only way he could have sensed what you were was if he too was an elf or…something else.
“What are you?” you asked, your eyes not breaking contact with him.
Sunoo closed his eyes and chuckled, slowly opening his eyes.
You stare at the glowing crimson, and at the sharp point of his fangs as he smiles, his tongue slowly licking his top lip.
“Vampire…” you whispered, walking closer to him.
Sunoo looked down at you, “You aren’t afraid?” he teased, his fangs slowly retracting and eyes going back to the beautiful cocoa you loved.
You shook your head, “No I’m not afraid.”
With your free hand you touched his face, tracing your fingers over his jawline.
Sunoo leaned his face into your hand, planting a soft kiss on your palm, “Good, I don’t know what I would have done if you were afraid of me.”
Sunoo being a vampire made all too well sense.
“It kinda makes sense,” you giggled, “You’re in a pack. Heeseung and Jay have more knowledge about being doctors than everyone else in that hospital. The reason why Jay fussed about the youngest being in soccer.”
Sunoo nodded, “We are a little crazy family.”
Your heart pulled towards him more, feeling as if a string was being wrapped around the two of you.
Your knowledge of vampires wasn't the greatest, but you knew enough to get by. Elves and vampires weren’t exactly enemies, but they weren’t exactly friends either. You grew up with your family teaching you about all the different creatures in the world. You were fascinated by them all and how different each and everyone was, mostly how vampires and werewolves are pack hunters and they find their mates.
And now that you have a vampire standing in front of you, looking at you like you’ve put the stars in the sky yourself.
You can’t help but wonder if this pull was that mate feeling that they have.
“Does anyone in your pack have mates?” you felt bold asking that question, mostly wondering if Sunoo already had one. You didn’t know how you’d handle the news if he did.
Sunoo sighed, taking your hand into his, he intertwined your fingers with him, taking a deep breath in.
“Yeah, four of them do.” You could see the sadness on his face, “Jungwon, Jay, Sunghoon, and Jake do.”
You couldn’t help but feel a bit relieved, but still sad at how he felt.
“Why do you say that with such sadness? I am an elf you know, I can sense feelings.”
Sunoo giggled at your words, making eye contact with you again, “Two of the mates are missing.”
You found a park bench to sit down on, listening as Sunoo told you the events that led him and his pack to this city. Your heart broke more and more as you listened.
The events that have happened to Sunoo and his pack weren’t fair. They wanted to live normal lives, just as the rest of us mythical creatures. But they’ve had it so hard. and it broke your heart.
It broke your heart even more seeing how Sunoo was also struggling with the loss of his brother's mates. They are all connected as one big pack, you can only imagine the pain Sunghoon and Jake felt.
You reached for his hands, running your thumbs over the tops.
“I am so sorry for what Dorian has done to you and your family.”
Sunoo squeezed your fingers, “It’s no one’s fault, shit happens. We came to this city to find more information and to hide so we could protect the pack, but I can’t help but feel so powerless. All I do is make art and sell it to help keep a somewhat normal life for my family. Sunghoon and Jake are sinking without __ and __. I don’t want my family to hurt anymore.”
You tuck your lips between your teeth, debating if you should say the next words or not. But when Sunoo looked up at you with glossy eyes, the words slipped from your lips.
“I can attempt to use tracking magic to help you find their mates and make your family whole again.”
Sunoo led you to his car, opened the door for you, and waited until you got in to close it and use his vampire speed to get in on the other side.
Sunoo dialed Heeseung’s number quickly, putting the phone to his ear.
“Hello?”
“Hyung,” Sunoo quickly said, his voice shaking.
“Sunoo?? What’s wrong?”
“I need you to gather everyone, I have Y/N with me so I won’t arrive as quickly, but gather everyone at the loft. This is important.”
Heeseung agreed and the line went dead.
Sunoo dropped his phone into the cup holder, his other hand gripping the steering wheel as he drove quickly to the apartment loft.
You grabbed his free hand, giving it a soft squeeze, using your calming magic to relax him.
Sunoo slouched in the driver's seat, releasing a sigh, “I am so happy you’re here with me right now, and not just because you helped relax me as if I just smoked and got high.”
You laughed at his sassy nature, “It’s the least I could do to help this situation.”
“Can you really use some kind of tracking magic to get our members back?” He softly asked.
You nodded, “I am still learning to keep my powers under control, back at home we didn’t have to control our powers, but now that elves have migrated into the public eye to live normal lives, keeping my powers controlled is still a learning process.”
Sunoo kissed the back of your hand, “I have full faith in you.”
You pulled up at the apartment complex, Sunoo helping you out of the car and inside, taking an elevator to the top floor.
Sunoo took your hand in his as you walked to the door of his pack’s loft.
“Don’t be too intimidated by them, Sunghoon will probably have some words, the other might tease, but just be sassy to them like I am and you’ll be fine.”
You giggled at him and how brave he was being with all the chaos surrounding him.
Sunoo reached for the door handle and turned it, the door slowly opening.
You walked in behind him, your hand tightly attached to his still.
Eight pairs of eyes stared at you the moment you walked in.
You looked at each of them, feeling their emotions flooding into you.
Jungwon and Jay held their mates in their arms, while the others sat separately around the room. Jake and Sunghoon stood at the windows, leaning against them.
Sunghoon looked out the window, but quickly back at you.
“No! Absolutely not!” Sunghoon snapped.
Sunoo groaned, “I knew you were going to say some shit.”
“We aren’t fucking around with elves!” Sunghoon stood from the window.
“Why?” You stepped in front of Sunoo, him trying to pull you back behind him, “Because we were naturally born immortal, whereas you had to be bitten on your neck to keep yourself from dying to achieve immortality?” you sassed, not letting Sunghoon’s attitude get to you, “Plus I heard you mated with a witch, why can’t another magic goer join this circus of chaos?”
Oh, Sunoo was so in love with you right now. It took everything in him to not fall to the floor and worship the ground you walked on along with laughing his lungs out at you teasing Sunghoon.
Sunghoon’s face blushed a bright red, causing the other males to laugh.
“Damn,” Niki said, “She got you GOOD.”
“Okay, settle down now,” Jungwon said, looking between everyone. You could tell Jungwon was the leader of this pack the minute you walked in, “Sunoo, tell us why we needed to meet.”
Sunoo pulled you close to him, “Y/N can use tracking magic.”
Jay’s eyes widened, “She’s going to help us find __ and __.”
Jake quickly rushed to you, taking your hand in his, “Can you really do it? Help us find where my mate is?”
Sunoo slapped Jake’s hands off yours, giving him a glare.
You nodded, looking between both Jake and Sunghoon, “I will need something of theirs that you too have, and I can trace where they are. But I’ll also need a map.”
“It will also give us a location where Dorian is.” Heeseung spoke up, “Thank you, Y/N, for doing this for us.”
You nodded. You looked back around at the vampires and two humans in front of you. Each of them felt the pain of their pack. You felt it and could see it in their eyes.
Jay pulled a map out, setting it on the kitchen table.
Jake paced around the kitchen on the phone, before hanging up his call, “Archer is on the way here.”
Jake handed you a piece of clothing from his mate, while Sunghoon handed you a bracelet from his mate.
The moment the items were in your hands, you could feel the love and pain that ran through them. The dhampir struggles by losing her first mate but then meets her true mate, just to be taken from him. The witch's bracelet is filled with the sorrow of her coven being killed and being the only lone survivor, but finding a new family with Sunghoon. The love the four of them shared was beautiful, and it brought tears to your eyes.
“Okay twinkle toes,” Sunghoon scoffed, “Do your thing.”
You focused on the items in your hands, pulling all the energy into them, searching for their scent.
Your eyes closed as you pictured where they were, your finger immediately touched the map on the table, pinpointing where they were.
The images of the surrounding area filled your mind.
You opened your eyes, noticing everyone staring at the area on the map where your finger pointed.
“You did it…” Sunoo said.
Heeseung quickly circled the area with a Sharpie.
You dropped the items onto the table, taking a deep breath in and out.
Sunoo grabbed your hand, pulling you towards him.
He wrapped his arms tightly around you, “You did it. We can find the girls and Dorian.”
You shook your head, “All I did was give a general area.”
Sunoo placed his hands on the sides of your face, “We are even closer, and it’s all because of you.”
You smiled at him, “I really did it.”
Sunoo kissed your lips, his strawberry chapstick filled your senses. You leaned more into him, breathing him completely in.
Sunoo couldn’t fight the string of fate much longer. He’s known since you two met that there was something pulling the two of you together, and it was fate.
You felt Sunoo’s emotions, feeling him give into the string. You sensed the string floating around you both, waiting for you to accept your fate.
An elf and vampire together? You loved the idea of it.
You gave into the string of fate, accepting every ounce of love Sunoo had to offer.
The others felt it too, the bond that you now share with each of them.
“Oh great, just what we need,” Sunghoon rolled his eyes, “Another magic user.”
You pulled away from Sunoo’s lips, sticking your tongue out at Sunghoon, “We are a family now, get over it.”
Sunghoon half smiled, giving a small nod, “I’ll accept it only because you found where my witch is.”
“You sure you can’t stay the night?” Sunoo pouted as he stood in front of your apartment door, refusing to let you inside.
You giggled at your soulmate, “Yes! I have a twelve-hour shift to do tomorrow, and if I stay with you I won’t get any sleep.”
Sunoo pouted even more, “Fine, but I am going to bring you lunch!”
You kissed his cheek, “I would love it if you brought me lunch.”
Sunoo moved from the door, letting you unlock the door and walk inside.
Before you could close the door, Sunoo slipped inside, pulling you to his body, and planting his lips onto yours.
He couldn’t get enough of you. Sunoo dreamed of what it would feel like to have this connection with his soulmate. How it would feel to hold them close and kiss them. To give all the love he had to them.
And he finally found you.
“Goodnight, my sweetness,” Sunoo whispered in between kisses, slowly releasing you from his arms and slipping out the door.

WIP Whenever
I was tagged by @medtech-mara for the weekly WIP report. Here's the latest stories.
Cyberpunk RED: How to Save a Life
"My name's Avery, I'm a netrunner."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cyberpunk RED-era Data Entry, using default Photo Mode frames and backgrounds.
Yesterday I revealed Avery Greer, an FIA netrunner. She's cynical, possibly clinically depressed (my notes say that she's pathologically unable to smile) and desires change in her life. She has already decided that her future does not involve the NUSA or the FIA. She may already have plans in motion to engineer her escape.
She works under a senior FIA agent named Hunter 'Bishop' Wilkes. Bishop is ride-or-die for the NUSA and has already been betrayed by a netrunner before (their AV was hacked by a netrunner who made a covert deal with an African militia to hand over FIA secrets in exchange for safe passage to Nairobi, and from Nairobi to Luna). He already suspects that her change in behaviour could be a prelude to betrayal, and already has her under close watch.
You're gonna see more of her.
Bakeneko: Select images from their latest show
A teaser for a photo story coming next week!

Vega Hawse sings Bakeneko's first original song Wolverines!, written by Dorian 'Durian' Bautista (image credit: NCT News)
Tumblr media
Another day, another pic in the screamsheets of So Mi living her best life in NC with Vega (this displeases Myers).
In 2078, Dorian Bautista (y'know, Dorian, the former corpo, turned fixer, then rockerboy) founded a band named Bakeneko ("Changed Cat"). They originally were a Samurai cover band, but something was off about their sound.
Then V came back... well, kinda. Vega's technically genetically 33% Johnny Silverhand and is a hybrid consciousness, but one with all of Johnny's memories and skills, as well as perfect knowledge of every SAMURAI song. Dorian reached out, and after some slightly mocking encouragement from Johnny, Vega joined Bakeneko and became the band's frontwoman.
In mid-2079, Bakeneko signed on with Silverhand Studios. While they still do SAMURAI covers, Vega (and by proxy, Johnny) and Dorian are working on an original EP, due to come out in 2080. Rumours that Kerry Eurodyne will appear in one of the songs are currently unconfirmed by N54 News.

MR BLUE EYES INTERROGATES AN FIA ASSASSIN
Warning: the following story references torture
The agent sat in the darkened room, his face and chest bloody. Electrodes were still attached to the more sensitive parts of his chest and torso. A black-uniformed soldier with blue glowing techgogs threw a bucket of icy water over the agent. He yelped as the ice pelted his bruised and bloodied skin, "Wake the fuck up, fedscum!"
"What the fuck do you want!?" screamed the agent, "just tell me what you want! I'll tell you anything! Just make it stop!"
A man stepped into the room, temporarily blinding the agent as the light of the hallway blasted into the room. He turned to the soldier, his blue eyes glowing in the darkness, "That'll be all."
"Sir."
Mr Blue Eyes circled the FIA agent, "Who was your target?"
"It was a traitor."
Mr Blue Eyes produced a stun baton, and without a second thought, drove the baton into the man's ribs. He cried in pain as electricity coursed through his vulnerable flank, "Specifics, please, Mr Jordan."
"It... her name is Song So Mi. She attempted to kill President Myers. There's a one million eddie bounty on her head."
He nodded, putting the baton back on the tool bench, "See, you can be cooperative... I'm going to let you go, Mr Jordan. In a few hours, you'll be back in Langley, no doubt being treated by the FIA's best medtechs."
"W-what?"
"But not without conditions," Mr Blue Eyes told him, kneeling and grabbing the man by the jaw so his eyes met the agent's, "You'll be sending Ms. Myers a message. Night City is off limits to the NUSA, and by extension, so are Song So Mi and Vega Hawse. If me, or my associates, find your agency operating in our city again, and especially if we find you harassing them, there will be consequences."
"A-are you nuts? Myers will never listen to that!"
Mr B shrugged, "You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, Mr Jordan. All you need to do is deliver the message to the FIA, and you'll be home free. Do we have an accord?"
Jordan bowed his head, "Fine."
Mr B turned to the soldier, "Find this man some clothes and bring him to NCX. He has a flight to catch back to Washington."
"Yes, sir."

Reading Throne of Glass (25-30)
Recap
Celaena has undergone a few Tests and while she's been able to maintain a middle place, she is beginning to worry about the difficulty of winning.
Her relationships with both Chaol and Dorian are progressing and Nehemia has insisted that she and Celaena meet up often to teach each other their languages.
She was excluded from the Samhuinn feast but found a secret tunnel in her room and followed it out to an escape route near the ocean. She chooses to stay and finish the competition to guarantee her freedom rather than run and be hated and hunted.
She returns to her room but...
Chapter 25
Celaena dreams she's back in the tunnels and takes a turn she avoided irl. She's lured along by the smell of roses which she's smelt irl in her room before. She's led to the tomb of some old king and queen.
There are wyrdmarks everywhere. Celaena figures out the tombs belong to Gavin and Elena the first king and queen of Ardalan from thousands of years ago. Elena was half Fae? (King Brannon's daughter, who is her mom, why is she half Fae will that matter?)
Elena Galathynius Havilliard. I see.
There's a legendary sword wielded by a human king who married an elf a Fae princess who was the daughter of an elf a Fae king of a forest kingdom.
The sword is called Damaris and hasn't rusted despite sitting there for a thousand years and it was used to slay the Dark Lord Erawan.
I feel some Tolkien inspo. Not a bad thing. Not even really an avoidable thing honestly. Just saying what I'm seeing.
The ghost of Elena tells Celaena that the gargoyles on the clock tower guard the portals between worlds (???)
“Something evil dwells in this castle, something wicked enough to make the stars quake. Its malice echoes into all worlds,” the queen went on. “You must stop it. Forget your friendships, forget your debts and oaths. Destroy it, before it is too late, before a portal is ripped open so wide that there can be no undoing it."
Elena gives Celaena an amulet for protection.
But—if there was a threat like that, then not only her life was at risk. And while she’d be more than happy if some dark force somehow destroyed Cain, Perrington, the king, and Kaltain Rompier, if Nehemia, or even Chaol and Dorian, were somehow harmed . . .
LEAVE KALTAIN ALONE YOU FUCKING PSYCHO??
Chapter 26
Another competitor is found dead. At this rate the competition should last half the time. The body was half eaten and Celaena jokes it was probably Cain.
She made herself grin at him. “Cain is the most likely candidate. You’re from Anielle—you should know more than anyone how they are in the White Fang Mountains.”
I get her not liking the man but her prejudice against these people is so wild???
After hearing the growls and inhuman sounds in her dream that wasn't a dream, she thinks whatever evil Elena was warning her about ate the dead competitor
She passes the body on her way to the library. Most of the organs are gone and someone had written wyrdmarks in blood on the wall.
Dorian and Chaol are sparring, they go back and forth about finding each other visiting Celaena's room in the middle of the night.
“Any word from your father?” Chaol asked in a voice that indicated he knew something was amiss. “I wonder where he went off to.”
Seeing as how Chaol supposedly sent word to the king, you'd think he knew 😑
Dorian’s blood went a bit cold. “You think they’ll try to kill Celaena?”
“I added some extra guards around her rooms.” “To protect her, or to keep her in?” (...) “What difference does it make?” Chaol said quietly. “You don’t seem to care either way. You’ll visit her no matter what I say, and the guards won’t stop you because you’re the prince.” There was something so defeated, so bitter, underlying the captain’s words that Dorian, for a heartbeat, felt badly.
Ouch. Poor Chaol.
Chapter 27
Late that afternoon, Celaena stared at the ebony clock tower. It grew darker and darker, as if it somehow absorbed the sun’s dying rays. On top of it, the gargoyles remained stationary. They hadn’t moved. Not even a finger. The Guardians, Elena had called them. But Guardians to what?
To the portals??
Nehemia warns Celaena to leave the wyrdmarks alone
Yulemas and the final duel are two months away
Does that mean Eyllwe is near the equator? If there's not snow in Eyllwe why is there snow in Ardalan? That the very least it should be quite hot in Ardalan most of the time, they literally border each other.
“Smeared?” Nehemia said, her voice dropping into a hush. “Not splattered?” SJM makes a point that Celaena isn't fluent in Eyllwe but this level of word use is expert??
Celaena and Nehemia get confronted by Cain, he reveals he knows everything about who Celaena is though Nehemia doesn't understand because it's in the common tongue. Nehemia looks out for Celaena and they walk away without making a scene.
Later, Chaol and Dorian are watching Celaena train. Dorian gets jealous of Celaena being close with Nox Owen.
Days later Celaena and Chaol are in the library and she's looking for information on the wyrdmarks
“No. Yes. It’s interesting: some theories suggest the Mother Goddess is just a spirit from one of these other worlds, and that she strayed through something called a Wyrdgate and found Erilea in need of form and life.”
(...)
“There’s an idea that before the Goddess arrived, there was life—an ancient civilization, but somehow, they disappeared. Perhaps through that Wyrdgate thing. Ruins exist—ruins too old to be of Fae making.”
Is this the same Mother of the acotar universe? Did she just go around creating worlds and starting religions?
Shouldn't Chaol be investigating the gruesome serial murders happening in the castle rather than guarding Celaena in the library?? Almost like he's the Captain of the Royal Guard or something
[wyrdgates] were both real and invisible things. Humans could not see them, but they could be summoned and accessed using the Wyrdmarks. They opened into other realms, some of them good, some of them bad. Things could come through from the other side and slither into Erilea.
Maybe the clock tower is a marker for a gate or something
It was a large black volume entitled The Walking Dead in tarnished silver letters. Lolol what the heck is this
Celaena reads from the black book that smells like soil and is giving her chills and spooky stuff starts to happen. She's hearing things. I like these horror elements and I wish sjm would lean into it
There was a scraping noise somewhere beneath her feet—close, as if someone were running a fingernail along the ceiling below. Celaena slammed the book shut and stepped away from the table. The hair on her arms rose, and she almost stumbled into the nearest table as she waited for something—a hand; a wing; a gaping, fanged mouth—to appear and grab her.
It was ...Chaol trying to ...scare her? Um what??
Chapter 28
Celaena is trying to play pool and failing and Dorian manages to sneak up on her again. One might think he was the world's greatest assassin.
Dorian is great at pool and Celaena isn't, I see where this is going.
Though it was the oldest and most shameless trick in the book, he reached over her and put his hand on top of the one that gripped the cue. He then positioned the fingers of her other hand on the wood before lightly gripping her wrist. To Dorian’s dismay, his face became warm. His eyes shifted to her, and, to his relief, he found that she was as red as he, if not more so.
After that we get a montage of them playing pool, eating cake and chatting the night away.
I get what sjm is doing, page time is limited - or at least it once was before everyone and their mom started publishing 800 page tomes of fantasy romance - but this isn't actually showing, it's telling.
We see Celaena's connection to Chaol, we can track the changes and levels of intimacy in their conversations from one to the next but again with Dorian it's a lot of "trust me" writing.
It's better from Dorian's pov because he notes things about her and genuinely wants to know more. But Celaena's pov is just "wow, Dorian is hot, wanna kiss him"
Chapter 29
Another Test, essentially just duels.
Context; Some random makes a remark about Celaena and Nox Owen defends her and it starts a little scuffle
Pelor, who had been lingering nearby, retreated a few steps. Smart move.
Added this just to highlight my fave. Pelor for the win.
Celaena loses her temper and absolutely owns the random dude in a spar without unsheathing her sword.
Kaltain Rompier POV
Across the castle, Kaltain Rompier clapped lightly as a troupe of acrobats finished their tumbling. The performance had stopped at last. She didn’t feel inclined to watch peasants bouncing about in bright colors for hours, but Queen Georgina enjoyed it, and had invited her to sit beside the throne today.
What if I told you Kaltain was against the exploitation of the working class lol
Kaltain is being bewitched. She suffers insane nightmares and migraines and swears she hears a voice in her head.
Kaltain and Georgina gossiping, I love them
“What a pity. I had hoped that you of all people would know. You’re such a clever girl, Kaltain.” “Thank you, Your Majesty. You are too kind.” “Nonsense. I’m an excellent judge of character; I knew how extraordinary you were the moment you entered the court.
Exactlyyy
Kaltain manages to get it out of Georgina that the Queen thinks Kaltain's beauty and wealth more than make up her lack in status - enough to even earn her approval to aim for Dorian.
Chapter 30
“You’re not focusing.” “Yes, I am!” Celaena said through her teeth, pulling the bowstring back even farther. “Then go ahead,” Chaol said, pointing to a distant target along the far wall of the abandoned hallway. An outrageous distance for anyone—except her. “Let’s see you make that.” She rolled her eyes and straightened her spine a bit. The bowstring quivered in her hand, and she lifted the tip of her arrow slightly. “You’re going to hit the left wall,” he said, crossing his arms. “I’m going to hit you in the head if you don’t shut up.” She turned her head to meet his gaze. His brows rose, and, still staring at him, she smiled wickedly as she blindly fired the arrow. The whiz of the arrow’s flight filled the stone hallway before the faint, dull thud of impact. But they remained gazing at each other.
See how different the Chaol x Celaena moments are? The reader is allowed to feel the chemistry for themselves.
It's suddenly 3 weeks since the last competitor's murder so a little over one month left until Yulemas and the final duel
Celaena tells Chaol that Cain knows who she is but they are interrupted to be told another body has been found. It's the random guy that she beat in the sparring Test.
At the crime scene Celaena turns into Sherlock Holmes despite her job not requiring this level of skill and Chaol turns into someone born yesterday with no deductive reasoning despite having been the lead investigator for all murders up until now.
we love breaking the worldbuilding to make our self-insert character look cool
Later, Dorian catches her unaware for the third time. He might as well be his dad's Champion
"(...) But what a miserable day it was! The pups are mutts, and—” He put his head in his hands. “Pups?” “One of my bitches gave birth to a litter of mongrels. Before, they were too young to tell. But now . . . Well, I’d hoped for purebreds.” “Are we speaking of dogs or of women?” “Which would you prefer?” He gave her an impish grin.
...
Celaena's connection to music is further reinforcing the idea that Rhysand is the main character in acotar. SJM cannot help her self-centred writing and I think that slipped from one favourite to the next.
Also makes me think about Dorian as her endgame the way Feyre is Rhysand's.
This is one of the best Dorian and Celaena moments so far. He genuinely wants to know more about her but Celaena has so many secrets she's keeping not from him but from herself - she's locked her past away and she's terrified of opening that box.
He looked at the window and the snow that swirled beyond. “I’m not married,” he said softly, “because I can’t stomach the idea of marrying a woman inferior to me in mind and spirit. It would mean the death of my soul.”
Dorian, you're pretty and I like you but you're on thin fucking ice. Again, Rhysand is just Dorian in a black tunic. The whole "my equal thing" is exhibit E
Celaena drags him for it as she should but not for viewing other women as inferior to him obviously because she's sjm...
You deserve to be laughed at for such foolish thoughts! I spoke from my soul; you speak only from selfishness.” (Celaena) “You’re remarkably judgmental.” (Dorian) “What’s the point in having a mind if you don’t use it to make judgments?” (Celaena) “What’s the point in having a heart if you don’t use it to spare others from the harsh judgments of your mind?” (Dorian) “Oh, well said, Your Highness!” He stared at her sullenly. “Come now. I didn’t wound you that severely.” (Celaena) “You’ve attempted to ruin my dreams and ideals. I get enough from my mother as it is. You’re just being cruel.” (Dorian) “I’m being practical. There’s a difference. And you’re the Crown Prince of Adarlan. You’re in a position where it’s possible for you to change Erilea for the better. You could help create a world where true love isn’t needed to secure a happy ending.” (Celaena)
Nice exchange, good dialogue.
He looked at his hand, still touching hers. “Where did you get that ring?” She contracted her hand into a fist as she pulled it away from him. The amethyst in her ring glowed in the firelight. “It was a gift.” “From whom?” “That’s none of your concern.” He shrugged, though she knew better than to tell him who’d really given it to her—rather, she knew Chaol wouldn’t want Dorian to know. “I’d like to know who’s been giving rings to my Champion.” The way the collar of his black jacket lay across his neck made her unable to sit still. She wanted to touch him, to trace the line between his tan skin and the golden lining of the fabric.
Hahaha, why did we ever get rid of love triangles? I'm kinda enjoying this
Skip to another day and Chaol is watching Duke Perrington and noting the weird expressions that pass over his face every now and then.
Perrington’s eyes fell upon the black ring on his left hand and darkened, as if his pupils had expanded to encompass all of each eye. Then it was gone—his eyes returned to normal. Chaol looked to Kaltain. Had she noticed the odd change?
He later thinks Perrington was watching him right back.
----
Overall still okay with little peaks and dips here and there.
Already rewrite ideas begin to fill my mind about how the core 4 could have been better set up but I'll leave stuff like that for after I've finished this first book at least.

Matilda
Chapter 2
Read Chapter 1 here.
Harry was surprisingly easy to talk to. All my apprehension about going into an appointment unprepared had melted away as soon as we got into the rhythm of the conversation.
"I'm relatively new to all of this. 'researching for a character,' I mean. and acting, in general." He smiled meekly and leaned in a bit closer to me as he spoke, as if confessing a secret.
"Right. That's why you're signed with Marvel" I said unselfconsciously but immediately tried to walk it back, "I mean, that's what I've heard... I don't know."
He shook his head and chuckled. I watched his chest rise and fall and wondered how even his laugh could put me at ease.
"What I meant to say was that I could use all the help that I can get here. My last English class was at 16, so, it's not exactly all fresh in my mind."
"Well, why don't I take a look at the literary references that your character is making in the script and we can pull some materials from there?" I asked flipping through my notepad, looking for nothing in particular.
"Not sure about that." He leaned against the wall as he spoke. "I mean I'm not sure I'm allowed to share the script."
"Oh, yes, of course..." I felt my face turn red with embarrassment.
As if reading my mind, Harry spoke again, "Not that you're not a completely trustworthy stranger"
I laughed.
" Seriously, it's a great idea though! I'll just have to make sure I can show you everything first."
"In the meantime, maybe tell me about your favorite books and authors? Maybe I can give you some recommendations, or ways to incorporate them into your prep?"
His grin was wide and toothy. "okay, yes. Favorite authors? hmmm..." He gazed into the distance trying to recollect some names and titles.
"Emerson?"
I nodded. "Solid start, okay, what else?"
"Murakami-"
"hmm..."
"What's wrong with Murakami? Oh and Bukowski!"
His eyes widened at the hissing sound that I made in response.
"What? He's VERY expressive."
"And sexist."
"I like to think he's self-consciously making fun of typical masculine thinking by portraying it that way...."
"That's very sweet of you, Harry. Don't worry I won't hold it against you."
"Okay, fine, who are your favorites?"
"Oh, man. name a genre, or time period. Just overall? Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, Charlotte Bronte. I specialized in Shakespeare for a while. But-"
Turning to look at him, his smile and piercing green eyes caught me off-guard.
"wow, you're, like, a proper Matilda."
"Like from Roald Dahl you mean? well, no. I mean, I get paid to do this."
"And soon I'll be getting paid to pretend to do this." he smiled sheepishly.
As we walked past the bookshelves on our way back out, Harry slowed down and turned towards the "W" stacks, stopping there to browse.
"Can I help you find something?" I offered.
"Think I've got it," he reached to one of the top shelves to grab Oscar Wilde's The Picture Of Dorian Gray. In an effort to be helpful, and "do my job" I stood on my tiptoes attempting to reach upward and get it for him, but, since I'm significantly shorter than he is, I only stumbled and got in his way.
"I'm so sorry!" I gasped as my back bumped into his chest. The scent of his cologne as intoxicating as the feeling of his breath on the back of my neck. I could feel my heartbeat through my entire body.
"It's okay. You're alright?" He placed a hand on my shoulder to help steady me.
" I'm okay. Just short." I quickly scrambled out of his way, letting him get the book.
At the front desk, Harry and Fran made small talk while I attempted to scan the book out for him, talking twice as long with our entire interaction --complete with me almost knocking us both down-- replayed in my mind, causing me to misspell the book details repeatedly.
"It's all yours for the next 60 days." I slid the book across the table towards him.
"I'll let you know how I like it. And about sharing the script if possible!"
Harry was barely out the door before Fran had turned to me and said "so? he's handsome. tell me everything."
***
As the next three days went by, I found myself wondering, in spite of my attempts not to, if Harry would come in soon. Glancing at the door every time anybody walked into the library, wondering if Harry was enjoying Oscar Wilde, wondering if he'd share the details of his film-in-progress one day...it all felt childish. However, it also felt like a refreshing change from the usually thought spirals that ordinarily occupied my mind.
I'd moved out here for this job shortly before the nearly two-year global health hazard hit the world. Libraries, thanks to ebook access, and inter-library loan programs, were among the first to go online. Now that everything's back to normal, I find my social life non-existent. I have yet to get a chance to meet anybody or go anywhere which often makes me wonder if moving out here on my own was the right decision, if there's something wrong with me that makes me unapproachable or unfit for socialization. But every time my phone buzzes with a notification from my parents, I'm reminded that my isolated existence is still better than being around a family that makes me feel alone when I'm around them. What if I'm wrong though? What if I need to be more forgiving?
on the morning of the fourth day, unable to sleep and haunted by doubts about how I've chosen to live my life, I walked into work earlier than I needed to be there only to find Harry and Fran sharing breakfast and laughing loudly.
Harry had grabbed a chair and was sitting on the opposite end of the front desk with his back to the door. Luckily, he couldn't see the startled look on my face, nor could he see me smile and fix my hair using my reflection in the glass doors before I'd approached him.
"Matilda! You're here!" He smiled and reached over to the improvised breakfast buffet that he and Fran had set up to grab me a cup of coffee.
"Matilda?" Fran asked.
"It's a thing." Harry responded nonchalantly before turning back to me and asking "cream? sugar?"
"uhh, no, just black thanks...what's all this?" I gestured towards the food.
"Harry brought breakfast." Fran said, handing me a bagel. "You should eat. She never eats, you know."
I frowned and watched as Harry grabbed me a chair. " Here, sit. And do eat please. You're gonna need your strength. We have a lot of work to do." He leaned over and produced a stack of papers from his backpack.
I smiled at his use of "we."
"So, you're cleared to read the script" he patted the stack of pages before handing them to me. "But," he placed a folder on top of the script, "not before you sign some paperwork."
"Paperwork?"
"It just says that you promise not to disclose the details of the script or filming process to any media outlets, and that if you do, the production company has the right to sue you for all you're worth. That sort of thing."
"Ah. Standard stuff. It's not like I'll know much about filming anyway..." I said reaching for a pen from behind the counter to put my signature to these forms.
"well, that brings me to the next thing. How'd you like to work with us?"
"who's us?"
"Well, me. And the set designers. Tell us what sorts of books we should have in the background of certain scenes, at each character's home, that sort of thing. Would you be interested?"

I miss Fictif, but it was far from flawless
Tumblr media
I actually got into this series because of "The Arcana" (plus romance games don't often let you play as anything other than a female lead), but I found that even though I liked it's potential, it fell short a lot of the time, either romantically or story-wise. I'm obviously disappointed that I can't customize my character's appearence, but I think I'm in the minority with that one. Allow me to list my grievances and nit-picks with the app.
In general--Female routes are short and underdeveloped. I don't even romance women IRL, but this was just sad. Anika, Tess, Valentina, and Celia are the only female love interests to have solo routes while the rest are in one-route stories--and Valentina didn't even get a route before Dorian took over and effectively stopped updating the app!
"Two Against the World"--As much as I love Nicky, this story turned me off as a gay male player. The writing feels female-coded, and no acknowledgement of the stigma of two men being in a relationship in 1920s New York is ever mentioned. It'd make more sense if the setting was INSPIRED by 1920s New York, but in reality was a completely different location--but that wasn't the case. It felt like a big mifire in storytelling.
"Heir to Love & Lies"--I cannot overstate how much of a disappointment this story was. In both Sergio and Chava's route, Chava starts off very friendly and sweet before becoming aggressive and secretive. This doesn't really make any sense since he's your childhood best friend and (spoiler) he doesn't kill La Dama Rosa in either route. Plus in Chava's route, Aurora becomes very cruel and blames us for getting her family (re)involved with the cartel, even though in actuality she involved us--a point Chava tells us to let go, and then we apologize. For what?! And the end of Sergio's route is confusing, as you go through a dream sequence where he either kills you and takes your money or you get him arrested for killing La Dama Rosa. I think it's supposed to represent your fears and mistrust of him and symbolize how you need to let your concerns go if you wanna marry him, but it feels uncomfortable since it's not explained well at all. It felt like we just saw the future and we said "I don't care." Plus he asks us stuff about kids, our wedding, and where we'd live, and he took NONE of my decisions into account for the final chapter.
"Roadkill"--I was SO confused on what was the result of the wish and what wasn't. Did Douglas' wish create werewolves, vampires, and witches along with zombies? Or did they already exist before the zombie wish? If it's the latter, there's no need to involve zombies. Plus Howie's amnesia arc in the last chapter was rushed and unnecessary, while Poe came off as judgmental and snarky and Tess' route was short and rushed.
"Catch Me in Miami"--I couldn't get into Miguel because he was so obviously a bad boy and I don't do bad boys. Maybe if he was more coy about it like Nicky than being obvious about it, I'd be into him.
"For the Love of Gods"--Great potential, but rushed and I DESPISE how we're forced to romance everyone. Why can't I just choose how many people I'm interested in?
"Ghosted"--Probably my least favorite story. Jesse's ghost story does sound interesting, but his personality and how rushed it was ruined it for me.
"Hollywoodland"--Rushed, but it had great potential.
"Snow Falling in Love"--It felt like a waste not to tie this with "Roadkill" due to Sawyer's involvement, and Elise was CRAZY obsessed with us.
"Courting the Crown"--Beautiful Potential, but again, rushed, rushed, rushed.
"The Last Legacy"--Probably the best plot of them all, but Felix and Sage weren't my type physically or personality-wise; I'd rather go for Felix's dads.
I didn't include other stories because they either weren't finished or I didn't complete them.
