Southern Kaduna: Miyetti Allah Resolves To Make Peace With Neighbours.
Tumblr media
Fulani communities under the auspices of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kaduna state Chapter has extended its peace initiative to the entire Southern Kaduna communities, urging all the chiefdoms and emirates of the geopolitical zone to move toward peace.
It comes two weeks after warring parties of Fulani, Atyap and Hausa communities in Atyap Chiedom of Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna state met in a peace-and-reconciliation meeting organised by the traditional ruler of Atyap Chiefdom, Agwatayap Dominic Gambo Yahaya.
This was contained in a communiqué signed by the Kaduna state Chairman of the Association, Haruna Usman Tugga and other executives at the weekend.
The summit, chaired by Dr. Salim Umar called on all the communities not to harbour criminal elements among them but promptly report any suspicious person or activity to the appropriate authorities and also recommends the establishment of Joint Community based Peace and Security Committee at all level to monitor and maintain peace and order among the neighbouring communities.
The 8-point resolution, which called on the farmers to desist from blocking the local and international cattle route, also called on the pastoralist to stop allowing the underage children from rearing cattle in order to prevent further destructions of farm produce within the area and beyond, and promised to reverse to the olden days relationship with their neighbouring communities in the area.
As the communiqué commended the effort of the security agencies especially ‘Operation Safe Haven’ for maintaining peace in the area, they also appealed to the state and federal government to assist those who have lost their cattle and other valuables.
In his remark, the Senator representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial District, Danjuma Tella Laah, said the Fulani of southern Kaduna as well as other tribes of the area are all indigenous people of southern Kaduna, therefore, warned the people to shun inflammatory comments and avoid calling names to each other.
He urged all the parties concerned to take a recourse to when the Fulani and other tribes coexisted harmoniously, noting that only peace can pave way for any meaningful development.
In her remark, the Executive Vice Chairman of Kaduna State Peace Commission, Dr. Priscilla Akut, said it was the desire of the state government to ensure lasting peace, and encouraged other communities to also emulate MACBAN by holding periodic parleys to review peace.
The meeting had in attendance representatives of various security agencies, MACBAN chairmen of Plateau and Nasarawa states as well as other Ardos and different Fulani organizations.

We want to make our country better through legislations.”- Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan. “I also want to say that our Committees will be the ones to flesh this agenda. The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Investment, Ismail Ahmad, has vowed that the President will get 15 million votes in the North West in 2019. Ahmad made the remark during a meeting of Women and youth leaders under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from the North Western states in Kaduna, over the weekend. He stated that Buhari enjoys massive support in the Northern part of the country. According to the Presidential aide, “We have a lot of work to do, but we have a lot of opportunities to explore. As at January this year, there were 18.5 million registered voters in the north west zone and there was opening again within the year, where we had encouraged more people to register and a lot of people were encouraged to collect their PVC as well, so the registered voters should be in the region of 20 million by now. “We are going down to all the wards, all the local government areas in all the seven states of the North West to mobilize for the people. Remember that in 2015, with the exception of Senator Danjuma Laah of Kaduna South, all the senators of The North West zone we have, were APC. All the governors of the North West for the first time since 1999 were APC, until recently when we had the defection of the Sokoto State Governor. “Our plan is to ensure that the party maintains that 2015 success and reclaim Sokoto State as well as all our legislative seats both at the national and state levels. “It is going to be a lot of work, what I have called on my colleagues at the north west level to do is not going to be easy, it is not going to be a tea party. “We are aware that the contest is between two northerners, but we will do our home work well. Again, we know people appreciate performance that is glaring and the president has performed way above expectation in terms of real things on the ground, not just semantics. “This government has done a lot of work, but it doesn’t have many people speaking for it “So, we know in reality we cannot get hundred percent votes from the North West, but in 2015, north west alone delivered over eight million votes to the APC, this time, we will work hard and ensure that we deliver 15 million votes to President Muhammadu Buhari from the North West alone.”

The Senate Under Bukola Saraki Is The Worst In Nigeria’s History- El-Rufai
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has berated the 8th senate under the leadership of Senator Bukola Saraki, describing it as the worst in the history of the nation. The  governor stated this while speaking in an interview on a radio station in Kaduna on Thursday, the governor accused the senate president of listing some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) among those who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).   He said many of those in the national assembly “rode to power on the back” of President Muhammadu Buhari.   El-Rufai also expressed optimism that Adams Oshiomhole, chairman of the ruling party, would resolve APC crisis.   “We have never had a bad senate leadership like this one by Bukola Saraki. Some people whose names were mentioned among those who decamped said they never authorised it,” he said. “We know those who cannot win elections in their homes. Many of them found themselves in the national assembly by riding on the back of Buhari. Some of them won the election because presidential and parliamentary elections held on the same day.” He also blamed the three senators representing the state for the inability of his administration to complete ongoing projects. The senators are Shehu Sani (Kaduna central), Suleiman Hunkuyi ( Kaduna north) and Danjuma Laah (southern Kaduna). El-Rufai said the senators’ rejection of the $350 million World Bank loan to the state is responsible for the non completion of some projects. He said the state government had initiated many projects with the hope of funding them with the loan which the senate refused to give its approval. “We initiated many projects this year because the World Bank approved a loan of $350 million to us and we were sure that we will get some part of the money this year,” he said. “We included it in our budget to be able execute our projects – schools, hospitals and the roads that we are constructing in the town. Well, you know what happened. The house of representatives approved the loan but the senate rejected it. When it was presented to the senate, our senators from Kaduna kicked against it. “They said the loan should not be granted. I was told that they ( the three senators) held a meeting and they said if Kaduna state government is given the loan, one of them will not realise the ambition of becoming governor. “The betrayal of Kaduna people by Shehu Sani, Suleiman Hunkuyi and Danjuma Laah is the reason why many projects have stopped. So I want the people to understand this. Anywhere you see that a road project has stopped, ask them. Anywhere you see that a hospital project has stopped, ask them. Anywhere you see that the construction of a school has stopped, ask them. “Anywhere you see that a project that is meant to benefit the people has stopped, ask these three people that betrayed the state. Whichever part they go, use your votes against them.” Read the full article
