Danny Phantom AU where he introduces himself to Amity Park as Phantom, no Danny. Phantom is popular around town, he’s the local hero after all. His chosen name is always on someone’s lips as they discuss battles and costumes and quips. It’s easy to make Phantom out to be a larger than life figure, someone who couldn’t be touched.

But then comes a crisis and someone, in the crowd, shouts Danny. And the ghost boy, their hero and savior, he turns as one does when their name is called. And suddenly he’s not an untouchable superhero with a cool codename. He’s just a kid doing his best to pretend that he can save others from the same fate that befell him.

#i say AU but this is one part of canon that irks me and I always yeet #i *hate* that he goes by Danny Phantom #Danny doesn't want to be noticed doesnt want to connect his two halves #so he gives one a spooky superhero name and his keeps his given name for his human self #also Phantom is I don't want to say dehumanizing but its seperate #its not a human name its easy to differentiate #whereas Danny is a normal name #it's not a *hero's* name and we know how seriously Danny takes his duty #I want him to stay Phantom #but some people maybe Val or some other Casper kids overhear someone maybe Vlad or other ghosts #and its so weird to know your hero's name #it strips them of some immunity in a way #like looking at Superman and knowing his name is clark
