This WAS supposed to be a comic, but I haven't been feeling it lately. At least the shading came out nicely! Bounty Hunter is based on the one in my current game, Blue, who's a big show-off like the others I've had. At least until they face the Thing from the Stars.

some thoughts for a teen titans darkest dungeon crossover*:

( *I’ve never actually played the game myself so consider this a parody gameguide )

Last week covered Trigon, the final boss, and this segment will cover (spoilers) his devilspawn. Raven.

Raven’s mother, Arella, became pregnant with her while in the dungeons under duress; Arella was eventually rescued and returned to the surface, but when Raven was born and the midwife saw the mark evil on her face she was thrown down the well and taken by the dungeon monsters to Trigon. There she spent most of her childhood sneaking her way out. Now, after seeing the band of brave adventures, she’s vowed to help them kill her father and lead them through the mazes of the depths, as she’s the only one who somewhat-reliably can.

Her avatar conceals her face, hiding her eyes of Trigon under wraps of cloth and a dark hood. She is the only character that can be found in the dungeon, if not chosen in the town proper. There is a rare chance that if you refuse to accept her into your list of available waiting cast, you will encounter her in the later levels of the dungeon as a second to last boss encounter.

She utilises magical as her prime attacks and defence, and can heal her party members. Her signature moves often take more than one turn to charge up, making it difficult to anticipate how best to use her in battle. Most players either use her as a “magic-missile machine” or a “healslave”, keeping her in party mainly for her passive ability to have 80% of the map it’s and enemies revealed, or for her lore-seeped dialogue and her fan-loved sarcastic wit; but through clever planning she can be fitting to balance any party.

Her stress levels are ultimately what drive most players away from using her for long, due to a glitch where Raven’s stress changes whenever any of the other party members do, leading to a fan-base crafted canon of Raven being seen as an “empath”. Most players sacrifice her for other, more reliably average built characters like “Cyborgman” or “Starfire” the Sorceress, who aren’t as weak to the stressors of the dungeon, comparatively speaking. Players have often bemoaned the apparent ‘nerf/glitch’ to Raven’s character, proclaiming her as unusable in her original state and manually change her stats and behaviors to suit their needs through use of mods.

However, what most players don’t know, at least initially, is that Raven possesses a ‘hidden’ bonus state.

if pushed past the brink of ultimate stress during battle while all the other party members are incapacitated or ‘dead’, she will transform into her monster form.

The first time this happens, all enemies in the fight will be wiped from the board and one of two things will occur: if the group’s friendship level is high enough, she will pull them all to safety, where each member will arise with a full recovery. if the group moral is too low, she’ll wipe out the party after wiping out the initial monsters.

After this first transformation it is possible to keep Raven in her monster form, where she becomes more of a tank than a mage character, but will lose her ability to heal teammates. If her monster form is avoided and her human form kept, her magical abilities enhance and in both forms she becomes less affected by stress, though her physical attacks are rendered practically useless in later levels of the dungeon.

The winning strategy is to manage Raven’s stress levels, keeping her from “breaking-even” or “breaking-cold”, until you reach the final boss; in which having her transform will one-hit KO Trigon and his underlings, as well as unlock a special cutscene.

The admittedly high difficulty in making that happen, if why this curator (me) suggests a specific party and item set up, to make your dungeons runs with her flow more smoothly. (see later pages i guess)

So I decided to gather all the ‘hobby’ dialogue from the Darkest Dungeon files. It seems to be an unused string of camping dialogue, but offers some interesting insight into the characters. I’ve just put them in the order they appear in:

Bounty Hunter

"A little time to reflect on my strategies."

"Hold this apple on your head. Now stand still."

"I will practice. Train. A professional adheres to a regimen."

Crusader

"Shhh! I am praying!"

Occultist

"Why, I am documenting the journey, of course. Care to read?"

"Some quiet, please. I am on the verge of breaking the cypher."

"Some bark of aspen? Or maybe boiled cerato leaf? Hmm..."

"Hold that wound still. My sketch is nearly done."

"May I lance that boil? The pus is intriguingly gray!"

Vestal

"Busy yourself elsewhere. I am praying for your soul."

"Yes, I shave my legs. What of it?"

"Have you thread? I've torn a seam in my temple garments."

Man-At-Arms

"Leave me to reflect on the day's battles."

"How did that one blow slip past my guard..? I must think..."

"I learned to carve during the lulls of the Cyprian campaign."

Arbalest

"Put this apple on your head and close your eyes."

"I will stick with you until wanderlust strikes again."

"Dice? What's the wager?"

Houndmaster

"...and that's when I learned the hound could sing!"

"Cooking meat robs it of its nutrifying essence."

"It is certain that anyone in politics has been corrupted in some fashion or another."
