A List of Stop-Motion Feature-Length Films You Probably Haven't Tried.
If you’re anything like me, stop-motion animation is something that you’re sick of hearing about, because it’s always the same fucking recommendations. I took the time to browse over Wikipedia’s “List of stop-motion films” and do what I could to create a list of stop-motion feature-length films that might be worth a watch and that you haven’t constantly heard animation brats cream themselves over. Obviously, this list is not perfect, it’s mostly based off of the films I was able to find generally high reviews for on Letterboxd, but this list will contain nothing from Aardman, nothing from Laika, nothing from Wes Anderson, Tim Burton, or Henry Selick, but will contain at least a handful of things you haven't heard constant chatter about. These films are also fully stop-motion, so nothing from Ray Harryhausen or Jan Švankmajer either. Oh, and no shorts or television, obviously.
I will go ahead and put the following eight as films that aren't as frequently referenced in "best stop-motion films of all time" articles, but will find their ways into conversations about stop-motion without much difficulty;
René Laloux's "Fantastic Planet" (1973)
Will Vinton's "The Adventures of Mark Twain" (1985)
Adam Elliot's "Mary and Max" (2009)
Charlie Kaufman & Duke Johnson "Anomalisa" (2015)
Claude Barras's "My Life as a Zucchini" (2016) [French]
Phil Tippett's "Mad God" (2021)
Dean Fleischer Camp's "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On" (2021)
Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio" (2022)
If you haven't seen those eight, I'd take care of that first. Now, we hit other stuff.
Lotte Reiniger's "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" (1926) [German]
Wladyslaw Starewicz & Irene Starewicz "The Tale of the Fox" (1937) [French]
Ivo Caprino's "The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix" (1975) [Norwegian]
Piotr Kamler's "Chronopolis" (1982) [French]
Chris Taylor & Mark Hall's "The Wind in the Willows" (1983)
Dave Borthwick's "The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb" (1993)
Stanislav M. Sokolov & Derek W. Hayes's "The Miracle Maker" (2000)
Christiane Cegavske's "Blood Tea and Red String" (2006)
Jan Balej's "One Night in One City" (2007) [Czech]
Stéphane Aubier & Vincent Patar's "A Town Called Panic" (2009) [French]
Fernando Cortizo's "The Apostle" (2012) [Spanish]
Chris Sullivan's "Consuming Spirits" (2012)
Paul Cowan & Amer Shomali "The Wanted 18" (2014)
Jan Balej's "Little from the Fish Shop" (2015) [Czech]
Takahide Hori's "Junk Head" (2017) [Japanese]
Michael Mort's "Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires" (2018)
Cristóbal León & Joaquín Cociña's "The Wolf House" (2018) [Spanish]
Paloma Baeza Niki, Lindroth von Bahr, Emma De Swaef, & Marc James Roels's "The House" (2022)
That's what I've got for the time being. If you can recommend a feature-length, majority stop-motion film that's not Aardman, Laika, Wes, Burton, or Selick, I'd be more than happy to look it over and see about adding it to the list. Enjoy.

Dave Made a Maze
Enter the surreal and darkly delightful world that feels like wandering through an Ikea showroom. When unsuccessful artist Dave builds a cardboard maze in his living room, he soon realizes that he is trapped, and that there is definitely more than meets the eye.
This movie was amazing, and I highly recommend for all lovers of surreal, imaginative worlds to explore. Fans of Phil Tippett's Mad God and Jan Švankmajer's Alice in Wonderland will be thrilled with this artistic madness, while fans of Boxes or House of Leaves might find something familiar about the cardboard labyrinth as well.

Finally, this. I wouldn't the Oilers are just terrible within Canada, but most likely all of the NHL. That's saying something considering how terrible the Sharks are. Goaltending is frequently talked about, but it's much more than that.
Eck is a great channel that also breaks things down in a different way.
Things needs to change and change soon. The Oiler went into a slump last season and canned Dave Tippett because of that. Jay Woodcroft was brought in and the Oilers went deep in the playoffs. If they can't turn it around, they may have to find another coach in short order. If they do, hopefully they can salvage something.
Canada's hockey culture means there is a lot of pressure, especially on an NHL level. But right now, the Oilers have the most.

Hockey Cards for Sale!
I have a variety of hockey cards for sale if anyone is interested! Some are older players from the 90s, some are more recent ones. Since they can fit into letter-sized envelopes, I’m selling them for a small amount (mainly just to cover postage and envelopes, especially for those out of Canada). This can be paid through my Ko-Fi (via Paypal), and I’ll give the link for those interested.
Cost depends on where you live (i.e. in Canada or elsewhere), how many cards you want (any more than 5 will be sent in more than one envelope to avoid issues in mailing), and whether you want them sleeved or unsleeved.
Within Canada:
1-5 cards: $2 unsleeved, $3 sleeved
6-10 cards: $3 unsleeved, $4 sleeved
11+ cards: $5 unsleeved, $6 sleeved
Within the US:
1-5 cards: $3 unsleeved, $4 sleeved
6-10 cards: $4 unsleeved, $5 sleeved
11+ cards in the US: $5 unsleeved, $7 sleeved
Any other country:
1-5 cards: $4.50 unsleeved, $5.50 sleeved
6-10 cards: $5.50 unsleeved, $6.50 sleeved
11+ cards: $6.50 unsleeved, 7.50 sleeved

Oilers eye another late-season run in wide-open West: ‘We’ve got to buckle up’
EDMONTON — At this point a season ago, Jay Woodcroft was playing the piano as fast as he could. He had taken over a team that was swirling in the drain, with Dave Tippett handed a ticket out of town.
There were 38 games left in the 2021-22 season when Woodcroft dropped into his first National Hockey League head coaching job, and when Game 82 had been played there was only one other NHL club…

Nhl 20 faceoffs
#NHL 20 FACEOFFS PRO#
But it strikes me that if faceoffs really are a key to winning and losing in hockey, it’s on special teams that they must be so telling, and I’ll look at that in my next post. Article contentĪgain, I’m no math guy, so maybe faceoff losses being one factor in five of six per cent of goals scored is significant. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Manage Print Subscription / Tax Receipt. With the Sharks, Wiseman, alongside fellow assistant Scott Gordon, will also work with the team’s forwards, assist with the power play and help with pre-scouting opponents, Quinn said. With Edmonton, Wiseman focused on the team’s offensive strategies, working with the team’s forwards with an additional focus on face-offs. Tippett was replaced by Jay Woodcroft in February and Wiseman remained on the Oilers staff before he and the team parted ways in June. Wiseman was an assistant coach at Michigan from 2011 to 2019 before he received his first NHL coaching job, as he joined the Edmonton Oilers under former coach Dave Tippett. Wiseman became an assistant with the Houston Aeros of the AHL in 2010-11, helping the team reach the Calder Cup Final. He was the Dallas Stars’ video coach in 2002-03 and began his coaching career as an assistant at Princeton University for the 2003-04 season.
#NHL 20 FACEOFFS PRO#
Wiseman played pro hockey from 1994 to 2000, including three games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in December 1996. Wiseman played at Michigan from 1990 to 1994 and was a 12th-round draft choice of the New York Rangers in 1991. In my situation, I knew what the truth was, the facts were presented to the court, and in the end, I was declared innocent and found not guilty.” “You never want to be placed in that position, but I understand that the authorities must take accusations like that extremely seriously, as do I. “In the early 1990s, I was falsely accused of sexual assault,” Wiseman’s statement said. The Sharks also noted, via a statement attributed to Grier, that Wiseman “was completely transparent with us from the start” and relayed a statement from Wiseman proclaiming the accusations were false. In this instance, based on the results of the legal process following the accusation in the mid-1990s, in addition to our own additional diligence and fact-finding, we felt comfortable with the results that came back.” (This news organization became aware of the matter after that call.)Īsked later if the Sharks knew about the case, a team representative relayed the following statement from general manager Mike Grier: “The Sharks organization takes accusations of this nature extremely seriously and the type of behavior described would not be tolerated. Wiseman and Sharks head coach David Quinn were not asked about the case during their media availability Friday morning. Wiseman was a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of Michigan at the time of the alleged assault. Per the Chicago Tribune, the alleged incident was first reported to police in April 1993, and charges were filed later that year. Wiseman, then a forward with the IHL’s Chicago Wolves, and another man were tried on two counts of sexual assault after an alleged 1991 incident with a then-15-year-old girl. Wiseman, now 51, was acquitted in a 1996 trial, but reports of the case surfaced shortly after the Islanders announced his hiring in July. There has been speculation that sexual assault charges Wiseman faced in the 1990s factored in his departure from the Islanders.
