regardless of everything I think it’s pretty much undeniable that season one dean would full on commit murder-suicide (kill late seasons dean and then himself) if he saw the state of late seasons sam and i think that’s pretty telling

Supernatural went on for so long I am honestly surprised they didn't do the "Let's revisit this character from a few seasons back" thing more often. I don't know, with how many people's lives they have fundamentally changed you'd expect to see them come across people more often. Or get called back. Or something.

what is castiel's greatest regret?
link to panel is here, timestamp: 20:54, images below cut
when he was god he could've fixed the world but failed to
'he harboured his feelings for 10 years without actually sharing them, and waited until he was about to die to share his affections'
he never really patched things up with his angel brethren in heaven
he never actually felt like he belonged on earth
(likely connected to above but) he had very few friends
he had a very, very limited wardrobe
as cas looks back on his life, it's probably nothing but one giant sweep of regret
misha did book-end it with:
"Well, I think, in the big picture, Cas... the thing that I like about that character is that he always tried to do the right thing, always tried to do what he thought was good and righteous. And sometimes he made mistakes, but that was always his North Star, and I quite like that about him."

wait explain to me the destiel hatred i’m curious what abt it angers u that doesn’t apply to the other two ships
great question! the answer would unfortunately require 3 hours and a powerpoint presentation, so i will try to do a brief summary:
a ship sucking only ever has about 25% to do with the ship itself. destiel is bad in the sense that i think dean winchester is an annoying character that gets treated with kiddie gloves by the narrative, which makes him irritating to see on screen, because i personally dislike it when "men are angry and abusive because they just love too strongly, and don't know how to express it :(" is played straight as a character's primary internal conflict. especially over 15 seasons. it's boring, he's boring, and 35 year old men shouldn't be going to colleges trying to figure out which freshman girls are legal or not. hate him.
however the real sin of destiel, beyond the fact that dean winchester and i have beef that will only ever resolve when i get to reincarnate as the rusty nail that kills him, is that the fans are so so so fucking annoying. like yes the narrative frames dean as a golden boy who can either do no wrong, or "well, i guess he did wrong there, but what about how tortured he is :(" but good god. at least the show isn't trying to convince me that destiel is some groundbreaking lifechanging love story, complete with "omg this moment" montages where they romanticize scenes that feature dean either insulting, threatening, or humiliating cas. like this entire show (post season 5) is dean chronically either infantillizing and attempting to keep cas under his control, or holding him up as the only person he can rely on, thus giving cas expectations that are impossible to fulfill.
and don't get me wrong! people can like a shitty person and a fucked up ship. that's basically everything i enjoy on here. but at least like. acknowledge it. aldfkjalka. and if you're gonna like a shitty person and a fucked up ship, at least write about it in an interesting way. 90% of fic and posts written about destiel aren't even about destiel as presented in canon, they're about two generic men with generic personalities who suffer from the world's most generic tropey problems. cookie cutter ass basic relationship. the high school au of ships. boring.

This fandom's gonna have me He Would Not Fucking Say That'ing over John Winchester of all people. If I have to read one more fic flattening him to a one-dimensional caricature that the boys unequivocally hate without question instead of the much more realistic and nuanced characterization we got from all three of them-- like there is so much bad about Supernatural but the messy, nuanced feelings the boys have about their dad is actually really good, realistic writing. It might be cathartic to have the boys just decide one day that they hate their dad and everything he did was bad but He Would Not Fucking Say That.

Bitches* be like “this is a story about a guy who can see ghosts, you like ghosts, right? You like fairly grounded low level contemporary fantasy about psychic powers, right?” and then hit you with a giant alien mind controlling bug man and demon pig hybrid cavemen from the future.
*Dean Koontz, Dean Koontz is bitches

THINKING about adam and kate again and how all the background information we're given about adam was that he was fundamentally a Good Son. good enough grades to graduate with honors, loves his mom, raised himself when she couldn't, etc. and it's so LONELY growing up an only child much less one that would have to be alone all the time because kate was either working at night or sleeping in the day!!! and it makes me wonder why someone as close to his mom as adam would go to a whole other state for college instead of just staying in minnesota. i wonder if kate kind of pushed him to go away. like granted he only went one state over to wisconsin but still! i wonder if adam kind of grew up with the same mindset a lot of kids who watch the parent(s) that they love struggle which is yknow that they'll postpone college and stick around and work and help. genuinely kind of wonder if kate shooed him out of the house because she has that same sort of "i want you to be better than this" love that a lot of parents have because they don't want their kids to end up in the same situation as them. and of course adam wouldn't argue about it of course he'd pack his things and move a whole state over to a public university in a country where out-of-state tuition is sky high and he'd aim for a career that pays more than kate's. because kate wants him to be better. because he's a good son.
