"Don't grieve for me when I'm go—" listen up here asshole. If you wanted to tell me how to feel about your death, you shoulda fucking stuck around. You're not here so you don't get a say anymore. You're not the one who has to deal with the emotional and logistical consequences of your passing. You are the missing piece in my life now, so you have (had) neither the knowledge nor ability to predict the best way for me to cope with it. And frankly, yes, I would have felt better if there'd been some kind of massive event where I could join everyone else grieving your loss and we could say to each other the awful hollow things that can't make it okay but can make it better, and then we could go get drunk about how much we missed you. So frankly, go fuck yourself. I miss you like hell. Hopefully you can take this criticism on board the next time you die. xo.

tbh i think my biggest problem with "batman not killing the joker makes him responsible for his crimes" is that batman isn't the only person choosing not to kill the joker-- so here's a quick list of people who could easily kill the joker but don't:
the u.s. government. the death penalty may be illegal in new jersey, but the joker has crossed state borders to commit his crimes, which makes it federal baby, and you can 100% get the death penalty at a federal level.
every single gcpd officer. they interact with him constantly, and even have him in custody sometimes; they could literally just shoot him. it would not be hard. also, they wouldn't get in any trouble; cops get a slap on the wrist for killing innocent people, if one killed the joker they'd be lauded as a hero for the rest of their life.
arkham staff. they supply him with food and care, and it would be really easy to poison him or even shoot/stab him and then claim it as self defense.
every other superhero. they are all equally as capable of killing him as batman is.
literally every civilian. they could just buy a gun and then go kill him. he's smart but he's also just like... a guy.
dc editorial. the real reason no one has killed the joker yet is because he's a popular character who makes a lot of money. why are we blaming batman for this he is a fictional character with no agency i am begging you to start acknowledging that comics are a collaborative medium that are written over decades by multiple people and are also made for money. please consider this and it's impact when analyzing comic characters.
and just for the record, i am pro-batman's no killing rule, anti-death penalty, and honestly think the best solution is dc figuring out how to de-escalate the joker's crimes so he's more on par with batman's other villains.
also batman is completely justified in stopping other people from killing the joker. murder is murder.

For the theme
(tw death mentions, grief)
Etho doesn't mind being tall, but he does wish he was a bit shorter sometimes. Being over 6 foot in an apocalypse really isn't as advantageous as the movies make it look.
Joel however, wishes he was taller. He knows how impractical it is, from being friends with Mumbo and... Whatever he is with Etho, but he still wants to be tall. He thinks people will take him seriously that way. They won't, but no one has the heart to tell him that.
The apocalypse isolated Joel. He didn't have time to find anyone to hide with him, except some ghosts, (Lizzie, Jimmy and Scott) but they started to mess with him and it made him question his sanity so he reluctantly kicked them out.
Etho had a group, but they all either died or got infected. They all knew Scar wouldn't last two days, but it still hurt to lose him.
Joel, in an attempt to not go insane, went outside.
Etho, trying to clear his mind, also went outside.
That was the first human interaction either of them had in ages. Months for Joel, a week for Etho.
Etho couldn't bear to go back inside alone, and stare at Scar's empty chair wishing it were him. Joel offered to take Etho back with him. It'd give them someone to talk to, and take Etho away from the place his son died.
It was only meant to be a friendly gesture, but it turned into something more.
They like to joke about how well they complement one another. Etho is able to see over objects, Joel is able to fit under them! But really, they've provided each other with something they desperately needed. A sense of understanding. They may not talk about their pasts often, but when they need to, they're there.
They know it can't be healthy, relying so much on each other, but hey. The world as they knew it has ended, being alive is about as healthy as they can hope to get.

aaron bushnell knew exactly what he was doing. he states his intentions with total lucidity and sense of purpose. he knows what he's about to do is extreme--he says so. he speaks calmly, but he's clearly terrified. he takes a deep breath after pouring the accelerant over himself. he has to psyche himself up to light the flame. he struggles with the lighter. he says "free palestine" normally once before he starts to scream it. even through his agony he manages to say it one last time before he stops being able to speak at all. this is a man with total conviction. he wanted to help people, in any way possible. this action was a moral one, and any news outlet painting this as simply a mental health issue is a disservice to his memory. he knew what he was doing when he burned himself in uniform. he knew that there was a chance that sacrificing his own life could go on to save many others. this was the ultimate act of selflessness, and it should be treated as such. may he rest in peace.

ideal ways for me to die
1. old age, peacefully in my sleep
2. after a long and illustrious career i am at a rooftop gala hosted in my honor. i am wearing a beautiful gown, holding a glass of red wine, standing by the railing. a scorned lover approaches and, after a passionate spat, they push me over the edge of the building. the wine glass goes flying, splattering their outfit in red as a visual metaphor for the blood on their hands. as i descend my gown flies around me like two beautiful wings, a bird in flight. a photographer on the street manages to take a photo before i hit the ground and that photo wins the pulitzer. a new york times think piece is released regarding whether or not it's moral to profit off a photo of someone's death. the think piece also wins a pulitzer.
3. sex accident.

I woke up and apparently the moon was gonna hit the earth, but everyone was like, really chill about it.
I talked to my mom and she said: “Yeah, the moon will hit the earth in about three months, you still have time to say goodbye to the people who you care about."
I was like "damn”, and then I said: “How do you guys knew before me?” And my mom said: “Its because we watch the news and you don´t.”

i accidentally napped and had a dream (nightmare?) where a new update for stardew valley released where everything was the same except on a random day in year 3 Evelyn would just straight up die. There was a whole cutscene that started in her house where she collapsed, and then transitioned over to the hospital where Harvey gave George and Alex the worst news of their lives. However, they got to speak to her where she said something along the lines of "Yoba will protect me, and I am sure he will let me watch over you."
Alex and George would not talk to the player for more than a few words for a full season after this event. George would spend most of his time in the bedroom, so if you had less than 2 hearts with him, you could barely ever speak to him.
And Alex... oh my god, poor Alex. If you were married to him during this event, he just stayed in bed all day. Otherwise, if single, he would just stand on the beach most of the time, staring off into the ocean. If you tried to interact with him, it would just say "Alex is grieving... Better leave him be."
There was also other NPC dialogue like mayor Lewis saying "I haven't seen the community in this state of mourning since your grandfather passed..."
there was also a glitch where you could make Evelyn live forever and there were entire guides for the "immortal Evelyn glitch" that got patched out in the next update. If you tried to perform the glitch after the patch, mr. Qi would tell you that "hey, it happens to all of us. We can't prevent it, and neither can you, no matter how hard you try."

the fact that the report [ file available at the bottom of this page ] listing every person who has been killed in palestine since oct 7th is over 210 pages long is fucking insane. the first of the 88 names are from one family. after that, the following 72 are from one family. one family. i am asking you from the bottom of my heart, do not become desensitized to these numbers. 7,028 killed. 2,913 of them children. thousands missing under the rubble. do not ever let these numbers be anything but shocking and disturbing to you.

“Unfinished Painting” — Keith Haring
This painting was left intentionally incomplete. Haring began it when he was dying due to complications from AIDS, and knew he didn’t have much time left. The piece represents the incomplete lives of him and many others, lost to AIDS during the crisis.
Tumblr media
“AIDS Memorial Quilt” — Multiple
This quilt is over 50 tons heavy, and one of, if not the, largest pieces of community folk art. Many people who died of AIDS did not receive funerals, due to social stigma and many funeral homes refusing to handle the deceased’s remains, so this was one of the only ways their lives could be celebrated. Each panel was created in recognition of someone who died due to AIDS, typically by that person’s loved ones.
Tumblr media
“Untitled” (Portrait of Ross in L.A.) — Felix Gonzalez-Torres
This pile of candy weighs the same amount as Gonzalez-Torres’ partner, Ross Laycock, did. Ross Laycock had died due to AIDS-related complications earlier that same year. Visitors who see this piece are encouraged to take some of the candy. As they do so, the pile of candy weighs less and less, like how AIDS had deteriorated the body of Ross Laycock.
Tumblr media
The SF Gay Men's Chorus
This photo was taken in 1993. The men in white are the surviving original members. Every man in black is standing in for an original member who lost their lives to AIDS.
Tumblr media
“Electric Fan (Feel it Motherfuckers); Only Unclaimed Item from the Stephen Earabino Estate, 1997” — John Boskovich
After the death of his lover, Stephen Earabino, from AIDS, Boskovich discovered that his family had completely cleared his room, including Boskovich’s own possessions, save for this fan. An entire person, existence and relationship had been erased, just like so many lives during the AIDS crisis. Boskovich encased the fan in Plexiglass, but added cutouts so that its air may be felt by the viewer, almost like an exhalation. In a sense, restoring Earabino’s breath.
Tumblr media
“Blue” — Derek Jarman
This was Jarman’s final feature film, released four months before his death from AIDS-related complications. These complications had left him visually impaired, able to only see in shades of blue. This film consists of a single shot of a saturated blue color, as the soundtrack to the film described Jarman’s life through narration, intercut with the adventures of Blue, a humanization of the color blue. The film's final moments consist of a set of repeated names: “John. Daniel. Howard. Graham. Terry. Paul". These are the names of former lovers and friends of Jarman who had died due to AIDS.
Tumblr media
“Untitled” (Perfect Lovers) — Felix Gonzalez-Torres
Created by the same man who created the previous untitled piece, this piece was also inspired by his lover’s deterioration and death due to AIDS. This piece consists of two perfectly alike clocks. Over the course of time, one of the clocks will fall out of sync with the other.
In a letter written to his lover about the piece, before his lover’s passing, Gonzalez-Tourres wrote, “Don't be afraid of the clocks, they are our time, the time has been so generous to us. We imprinted time with the sweet taste of victory. We conquered fate by meeting at a certain time in a certain space. We are a product of the time, therefore we give back credit were it is due: time. We are synchronized, now forever. I love you.”
Please feel free to reblog with more additions

"Okay." Danny slowly laid the already cold body back onto the table, ready to slide back it into the refuge of cold storage. "Okay. Dead guy. Stay there."
The body didn't move.
"Fantastic. Now. Hang out while I pour the embalming fluid into the pump, alright? It should only be a minute."
And it usually did; working in a funeral home wasn't extremely glamorous, but it paid the bills, and Danny had already been used to the rhyme and rhythm of negotiating death with the public by the time he sent in his mortuary school application. It had been a transition that made sense. And in the end, the degree had only cost him a few extra years post-graduation and a little dig into student loans, and now Danny had a stable 12-8 job and health insurance valid in the state of new jersey.
Today, though, the pump had that decided enough was enough. With a bang and a boom, the pump spat out a cloud of smoke and clunked uncomfortably.
The dead body sat up.
Danny scrambled over to push it back down. "No. We talked about this. Dead people don't move. If you want to stay here and have me put you back together all the time, you have to stay put. Got it?"
Whatever the weird gold-eye corpses were on in Gotham, they at least listened to him on occasion. They weren't ghosts, per se— they never pinged on any of the ghost detection devices Mom and Dad had packed in his going-away-to-college bag— but they were, despite being occasionally animate, perfectly deceased.
Weird. Danny had never gotten used to it. Still, they came in droves, too eager to sit on the top of the basement stairwell and lurk in the corners and stare endlessly at them with their weird, avian eyes, and sometimes they heralded the arrival similarly weird-ass bodies that had lost their heads or their arms or their limbs through the more conventional channels.
"I'm losing too much thread to all y'all coming in all the time," Danny complained to the dead body, who, at the moment, was the only person present to blame. "Stop getting your limbs cut off. This stuff is expensive, you know. It's a specialty order."
The body didn't even have the courtesy to blink. Rude.
"At least let them bury you this time. Every time one of you darts off when my back's turned, my boss thinks I'm stealing corpses. My coworkers think I'm building my own Frankenstein or something."
The corpse neither verbalized nor blinked, but Danny hadn't expected it to; with a sigh, he rolled the corpse back into cold storage, locked its little door (not that locking it in had ever stopped it) and called it quits for the night.
It's not like anyone was paying him for the extra hours anyway.

Etho's very used to death - heck, his ex-wife is a zombie! - but he was not expecting it to feel so strange.
He feels the exact same. Just a little foggy. He can't quite remember things as well as before, and not many people acknowledge him.
He finds out - by accident - that he can walk through walls. Or rather, float through them. He's not really touching the ground.
That was an awkward conversation with Joel. One he'd rather not think about, but he can't help it.
Joel knows Etho's dead. He knows that he should just let him go, but damn, that ghost is not leaving him alone. And he's kinda cute too...
It's hard to tell if it's Etho keeping himself here, or Joel. And, realistically, are they ever going to bother working it out? Etho seems perfectly content pottering around, and Joel is enjoying his ghost roomie.
Just... If they could figure out the whole 'floating through stuff' thing. It makes cuddling real difficult.

I’m still not over what happened to them… I wasn’t a huge fan of Steven’s but NO ONE deserves to die like that. Ryan and Shane though… The thought of them dying hurt but I didn’t expect it so soon. I still can’t believe what we saw… My heart goes out to their families and loved ones.
RIP Watcher Squad, you will forever live on in our hearts 💔
