Saw a post asking 'Do any of the other Endless get captured because it happened to Dream twice'

And the answer is yes, actually.

It happens on-screen to the mortal form of Death/Didi, at least, in The High Cost of Living. Depending on what that 'sometimes I get a bit cocky and well, I made a mistake' line means it could also indicate that she's at least partially calm about it because this is far from the first time at least in her mortal days, if not beyond it.

One of the really fun bits about my take on the Sandman cosmology from her POV is that it literally relies on the actual text and imagery of panels, not even the more subjective interpretations of them. This page, and this part of her first miniseries, is the only other time it's actually shown happening to any of the other Endless, admittedly, and it leads to a grand total of two.

As I've said before I read Death: The Time of Your Life as Death having a major crush on Hazel:

This panel, and another set that I've posted before are parts of the reasons why I say that. It also stands as a contrast to Desire, Dream, and Destruction, the only other Endless shown in canon to have a relationship or a desire for one (haw). Desire is a serial rapist, Dream literally damns people to Hell for telling him 'no', and Destruction turns his exes into mines to scorch the Earth behind him.

And then there's Death.

Has a very blatant crush on someone to a point she essentially sets up an entire event to hear that person tell her "I love you," and then makes sure that person and her girlfriend get their happily ever after, doing something this dialogue indicates she's never done before, for anyone, at any point in time. There are no heterosexual explanations for this as she has had plenty of mortal days and plenty of people across species and worlds she would have liked when she met them.

Her siblings make the bar astronomically low but she still clears it by less....toxic....standards than those set by Desire and Dream in canon.

If the Sandman TV adaptation ever gets as far as Death: The High Cost of Living, it will be very interesting to see how Kirby’s age changes things!

In the original comic, Sexton sees “Didi” as a teenager like himself, and she’s supposedly an orphan. Presuming that they don’t recast her, a 30-something Didi changes the dynamics between her and Sexton substantially – instead of a peer, she becomes a more maternal figure (if a somewhat quirky one).

If, on the other hand, Sexton is aged up too, that changes his characterisation. A key point of Sexton is that he's bored of life even though he hasn’t even really lived yet. With a fully grown man, that doesn’t have the same connotations.

I kind of want to see it just to find out how they would solve it!

i think death of the endless always spoke to me was because despite being the embodiment of death and the end of all things, she loved living. she loves humans and everything we made, and every time she becomes a human doomed to die once every century, she savors it. she enjoys the taste of hot dogs and the experience of eating an apple, she loved sexton even if he was dead set on hating her. when she died as didi she told herself, death, she enjoyed breathing

the high cost of living is just such a fucking good story on realizing what you have, even if it’s mundane, even if it’s so insignificant, or if you’re in the worst possible place of your life. there’s still some joy to be found in the end of it all.
