Absolutely OBSESSED with the way they all know that Reid is literally the best option when it comes to....well, reading stuff, but even so Emily and Morgan still hesitate to give him the guy's journals cause they know that whatever messed up shit he did to those women would be imprinted at his brain forever.
Also the initial reaction to him not getting what Em and Derek were implying- oh you know they only give him the sadist-journals on rare occasions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Rossi's response aghaghag "oh yeah he is ok, that is our lil special guy for you" the only found family ever.
Tumblr media
Look at Emily's body language here, she so not want her adopted baby brother that tends to touch dead bodies for a living to the unsub's disturbed fanfiction.

the lil, awkward "you can do it champ!" gestures omg I love them, sir those are my emotional support siblings.

Based on this post
Hotch: based on marks the coroner found on the bones, we believe the killer ate part of his victim.
Spencer: it's giving Jeffrey Dahmer
Derek: *sobbing* kid, we don't know what that means!

A Million Reasons
Summary: after a phone call from Penelope, Reader teases Spencer about a potential love interest and things don’t go exactly as planned.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x gn!reader
Category: fluff with a little angst
TW/CW: a little bit of angst, brief mentions of food, self-doubt, mentions of anxiety, kissing
Word Count: 1.2k
Thank you @drgenius-reid for taking the time to beta-read this!
The following work is my entry for @andiebeaword's 3,000 Follower Celebration Writing Challenge (prompt n. 12) and is also part of the series Spencer Reid, my beloved
Tumblr media
Spencer scooped out of the paper cup what was left of his ice cream before he finished recounting the events leading to the arrest of the unsub the entire BAU team had been successfully tracking down in Seattle during the past few days.
“He’ll be charged with ten counts of murder, one attempted murder, and unlawful possession of multiple weapons. He’s facing ten life sentences without parole.”
“Way to go, Justice League!” you cheered, enthusiastic.
He tucked his hair behind his ear with a cute chuckle. His sleeves were rolled up to the elbow so you caught a glimpse of his wristwatch reflecting the light of a lamp post standing along the edge of the walking path; from the bench you were both sitting on you could see the illuminated dome of the US Capitol rising up against the dark mid-summer sky.
Despite being within walking distance of a major street in the southwest quadrant of Washington, the park was quiet and uncrowded and the nearby gelato shop was one of Spencer’s favorites.
You took the last sip of your drink, acting very casual. “And that’s all that happened?”
He shrugged, unsure about which crucial information could have been missing from his story since he was under strict instructions not to fill you in on the most gruesome details of the cases he’d worked.
“Uhm, graphic descriptions of tortures and mutilations are not—”
“I’m talking about a certain homicide detective… the one you gave your number to…?” you explained and his jaw dropped instantly.
“What?!”
You nudged at him with your elbow. “Garcia called me from the Original Starbucks in Pike Place. I couldn’t tell if the hype was about your new admirer or being there.”
“I don't understand how this is such a big deal!” he blurted out in a high-pitched voice. “She showed an interest in what we do so I gave her my card.”
No profiling skills were required to detect his firm intention to avoid discussing the matter, yet the words came out of your mouth like a river in spate.
“Any chance it wasn’t only a professional interest?”
The way Spencer looked at you, disappointed and hurt, hit you worse than a punch in the liver.
“What’s with you, guys?! Are– are you all so invested in my personal life because you’re convinced I’m chronically unable to have one without your help?” he snapped, something you’d never seen him do.
“I’m s—” you tried to reply, even though he was still too angry to let you apologize and cut you off again.
“Or maybe it’s just that I’m no Derek Morgan, so the idea of someone noticing I exist is pathetic or funny to you?”
“Seriously?! An IQ of 187 and this is the best inference you can come up with?” you snorted, upset by the subtle insult he’d thrown at you - even if you had to admit you deserved it.
His brows furrowed. “Then why did you bring this up?”
“I didn’t mean to pry, I’m sorry. I truly am,” you admitted, “but I would never ever think that people hitting on you is pathetic, give me some credit!”
He remained silent for a while, quite aware that Penelope’s inability to keep her mouth shut generated from genuine excitement about what she perceived as good news; sharing such personal information with you meant you had been put to the test over and over and, in the end, deemed worthy of her trust.
The peaceful atmosphere around you served as an amplifier for the sound of splashing water and Spencer indicated the fountain at the center of the large, round basin in front of you with a jerk of his head.
“I read a book about the architectural history of D.C. on the way back. This piece was created for the 1876 Centennial International Exhibition in Philadelphia, the US Congress acquired it in 1877 and placed it at the base of Capitol Hill. It was dismantled in 1926, then it remained in storage until 1932 when they moved it here.”
The pedestal held three twin iron-casted sea nymphs wearing wet tunics, with their arms raised above their heads to support a shallow vasque; on top was a group of kneeling child tritons, and the base was decorated with turtle-like aquatic creatures.
“It’s beautiful,” you mumbled.
The fact he’d for sure started and finished said book in less than fifteen minutes was among the 999.999 entries in your list of reasons to crush over SSA Reid.  And so were his three PhDs, his crooked ties, his passion for Star Wars, chess and Halloween.
“I don’t talk much about my private life. Especially outside of work,” he confessed after a pause. “A lot of times I have a hard time discussing personal issues—”
“Spencer… you know you don’t owe me an explanation, right?” you rushed to clarify.
He nodded and you did the same in response, to confirm you had no intention of pressuring him into opening up if he felt uncomfortable but were also ready to listen to anything he had to say; even in dim light, you could see the sadness veiling his beautiful hazel eyes.
“I’m sorry I overreacted. Garcia was being Garcia, with her ‘look at the world through rose-colored glasses’ scenarios. Except, in this case giving my card to a homicide detective to discuss behavioral sciences was just what it sounds like. I understand where she’s coming from, I never told her…”
Your whole body tensed up, courtesy of a rush of anxiety triggered by the possibility of him being already involved with someone he had never mentioned, not even to his closest friends; you wondered if he could hear the butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
Luckily for you, Spencer didn’t seem to notice.
“I’m trying to come to terms with something I’ve been feeling, for weeks now. And I’m worried, because of what happened in the past and I can’t let go of…” his voice broke a little, so he swallowed. “Deep down I’m afraid I'm not the type of person who gets to live out happily ever after.”
Refraining from hugging him on the spot and holding him close to your heart had gotten increasingly difficult lately, so you settled for a peck on his temple in a clumsy attempt at a comforting gesture.
Spencer jolted, befuddled, and for a moment you feared for the worst; you certainly didn’t expect him to lean forward to cup your face in his hands - big hands.  With slender, elegant fingers he tenderly brushed over your cheeks.
You both held your breath, waiting for the distance between you to vanish until your foreheads touched and the tips of your noses rubbed together.
“... are we really doing this?!” he whispered, sending shivers down your spine.
You smiled. “Don’t make me wait for another six months.”
Spencer squinted, an indication he was browsing countless data and events stored in his memory; when he eventually pinpointed the exact moment you fell for him he squeaked in surprise.
“Christm—”
You pressed your palm on the nape of his neck, guiding his lips over yours for the kiss you both had been longing for.
Reason number 1.000.000: Dr. Reid had a crush on you, too.

This has been rewritten twenty times. I had to post this before I deleted it all over again. So, I'm sorry in advance if it isn't like my usual writing.
Tumblr media
Aaron Hotchner was the stoic, fearless leader of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. He took pride in his strength and dedication to his career, even if most people didn’t understand how he could pull countless hours in a career field that took a physical and mental toll.
His life revolved around his job, his son being his other top priority, even though he really couldn’t very well balance things the way he intended. His loyalty to his career took a good amount from him as well. It could drain his sanity and a divorce came out of it.
He was tough, keeping his composure through some of the worst things imaginable when most others would crumble under all the pressures of a demanding career as well as a failed marriage. However, it numbed him from the horrors, making him tense all the time.
That is, until Y/N showed up at the BAU for an interview to take over an available position. She was the top of her class at the academy. She was physically, academically, as well as mentally strong enough to handle the job and she had a backlog of receipts to prove it.
Her life was spent with training, her father being a general in the United States Marine Corps, wanting his daughter to follow in his footsteps.
Imagine his shock when she used every piece of knowledge she had in order to get into the FBI.
It was a smart career choice for her. She could handle herself in the toughest of situations, being trained how to get through the most intense of scenarios. She also liked putting in her thoughts and ideas to a group who openly accepted them, nothing being shut out because she was the youngest of the team.
She was an asset.
Aaron had told her plenty of times how lucky they were to have her, how she was a tremendous addition to an already powerful group of profilers. She had a lot to learn but she was pretty well off.
Y/N loved her career and her team. However, Aaron Hotchner piqued her interest. He was well known as the leader of the BAU who has had a rich career and he had many written articles and other pieces of information that retold the stories of the most intense cases he ever had to get into.
It didn’t help that the man was sex on legs.
He was attractive, the smallest things he did captured her attention in such a way that there were vivid fantasies and daydreams of things they could do. She liked to think that she could show him things he hadn’t seen in years, if ever..
So, that was when she was planting subtle seeds. There were lingering touches and flirting that would make Derek Morgan blush. It was innocent enough, the casual flirtatious remark that would have the unit chief flustered, cheeks a shade of dusty pink.
The idea of being with a member of his team seemed wrong. Not only was it a ton of paperwork but it was also an H.R. nightmare.
It couldn’t stop him from fantasizing though. All the ideas he had about bending her over his desk, his tie forced into her mouth in order to muffle the cries and moans that would spill from her lips.
This was dangerous territory to tread. Yet he liked the game, the risk of it all. The problem was that he couldn’t very well just come on to her, the biggest risk factor being the word spreading across the office. That was the last thing either of them needed.
These vivid fantasies forced him into hiding, his office being the place he’d be able to be alone in. The same office where he’d glazed his knuckles with cum just thinking about the sheer idea of having Y/N under the desk, her lips enveloping his cock like she was made for it.
It was one of those days where he had to hide away, the quiet nature of the office being contributed to paperwork being caught up on and files being put away. Aaron was doing his best, gazing at an open file while he was tapping the back of the pen against the desk.
His mind was quite adventurous today, his cock hard and luckily concealed by the desk he was positioned at. All Y/N did was sip her coffee from a straw, her lipstick staining the metal straw from the tumbler as she was enthralled in her own paperwork.
Somehow, that was enough to have him trembling in his office chair.
It was pathetic, like he was reliving the times of being a horny teenager who got turned on by damn near everything in sight.
However, it wasn’t long until he heard a knock against the door, gaze tilted upwards. That was when his worst fear entered the room. Y/N. The one who had him hard as a rock at his desk, the one who had been giving him hell for the months she’d been working there.
“Y/L/N. What can I do for you?”
“I wanted to drop off a file for your review.” Her words were soft as she held it up. “Also, can I talk to you?”
Fuck.
“Of course. Shut the door.”
The minute the door was shut, that was when that suffocating sexual tension was filling the room, so bad that he was sure he wouldn’t be able to breathe until she left. “What’s the problem?”
“Are you mad at me? Because you haven’t spoken to me. You actively ignore me.” Her boldness was something he expected, the woman not being one to lightly word anything.
“Of course I’m not mad at you. I don’t see why you’d think I’ve been avoiding you.”
“You run straight to your office! Don’t bullshit me, Hotchner. What did I do?”
“Nothing! You’ve done nothing.”
She didn’t believe him, eyes narrowing as she leaned back in the chair behind her. She was sure why he ignored her. Or maybe it was just a delusion she had where he actively wanted her just as badly as she wanted him.
“I see the way you look at me, Aaron.”
“Excuse me?”
“You think I can’t tell? You think I didn’t notice the way you make it a point to brush against me? The way that you wait for me before you even attempt to walk down the hall?”
Fuck. She was a better profiler than he gave her credit for.
“I don’t know-”
“You think I also didn’t notice the way that you looked at me when I was sipping my coffee? The way that you just had to run into your office before anything could be noticed? Aaron, you’re a profiler. You should do better at hiding your reactions.”
The words had him flabbergasted, mouth open in disbelief from the indication that he’d be turned on by something as small as her sipping a straw. Too bad she hit the nail right on the goddamn head.
“This isn’t appropriate. I advise you to leave my office.”
“Walk me out. Or are you too afraid to show me how right I am?”
The silence after that was loud. It was like Aaron had to collect himself.
“That’s what I thought.” Y/N taunted, making the male finally stand up from his desk. That was what caused her to shut her mouth entirely, looking at her boss wide-eyed as if she’d just gotten in trouble.
“What? You’re not gonna talk anymore? I think you’re getting too smug with this.” He spoke, voice low as the tone of authority took over. He walked to the office door to lock it, lowering the blinds soon after to avoid the whole office looking inside.
“Nothing to say?” He asked, arms tucked over his chest as Y/N was slowly looking away. “W-well..”
“Pathetic. I knew you were all bark and no bite. It’s a shame.” He tsked, head shaking with disapproval. “Now get up.”
Y/N was slow as she was standing up, her face flushing as she could feel arousal soaking into her panties at his authoritative tone, his eyes dark as he watched her body rise from the chair before her arms were behind her back.
“You’ve been pushing my buttons ever since you started with the flirting bullshit.” His veiny hands were moving to remove the tie from his neck, eyes watching her figure as she seemed frozen; a deer in headlights.
“I think it’s time to give a cocky little brat what she wants. Open your mouth.”
With an eyebrow raising, Y/N slowly let her mouth fall open. The moment she felt the tie being stuffed in her mouth, she barely had time to process what was happening before she was being bent over the desk.
There was a mess of files and other items that she’d landed on, head tilting to the side as she let her eyes stay on Aaron.
He looked at her with hunger, like a predator stalking its prey and ready to pounce at any given point. The normally beautiful honey colored irises were clouded over with deep lust, his hands running down her hips while he was situated behind her.
“You need to be taught to respect your unit chief. I’m not gonna tolerate your behavior any longer after this.”
The woman was keeping her eyes on Aaron, body making an effort to push back against his for any ounce of friction. “Ah! No ma’am.” The man began, hand roughly coming down to give her clothed ass a rough slap.
The sting had her moaning around the tie in her mouth, tears brimming her eyes from the pleasurable pain, body jerking when three more hits were coming down. “You’re not getting what you want. You are too entitled and I’m sick of it.”
His hands were moving to grip her hips, thumbs running over the skin under her shirt just to feel the warmth of her soft skin. “Let me know if you want me to stop at any point.” He spoke, tone hard yet his demeanor softened.
Last thing he was going to do was do anything that she was uncomfortable with.
When there was an indication that she wanted him to keep up with his motions, his hands were moving to bunch up the skirt around her hips. Aaron’s eyebrows raised in curiosity. “Look at how wet you are.. I haven’t even done anything to you yet.” His hand was running up the back of Y/N’s thigh, continuing onward until the palm of his hand was flush against her clothed cunt, the warmth radiating against his hand as he was adding pressure, chuckling at the muffled whine.
“So desperate. Gonna fuck you with my fingers, think you can handle that?” He asked, finger slowly moving to push her wet panties to the side, thumb making its way to her clit, eliciting another muffled moan. As his hand was pulling back, he let his middle finger slowly run through her folds, the arousal generously coating his finger before he was slowly pushing it into her tight heat.
He could’ve came in his pants right there, mouth open slightly as he was greeted with warm, velvety walls that were tightening around the digit from just how desperate the woman was. “Keep still.” He warned, watching the hips try and rock against his hand.
“You were talking so much shit earlier. Now look at how desperate you are,”
The words caused Y/N’s body to shudder with anticipation of getting more than one finger, playing his game and cooperating.
“There we go. See what happens when you listen and you’re not combative and smug? I just might like you better with my tie in your mouth.” He snickered, a second finger slowly sliding into her dripping cunt as he worked on scissoring her open. “Fuck, you’re such a pretty little thing.” He praised, unholy sounds of squelching filling the room from her wetness.
As his fingers curled upwards, he couldn’t help the chuckle that left his lips as soon as she was gasping around his tie, his fingertips pushing the spongy spot inside of her that had her eyes fluttering shut, drool from the corners of her mouth due to the tie starting to run down her jaw.
Thankfully, Aaron had an extra so this wouldn’t be suspicious when the other profilers were surrounded by Y/N after the deed here was done. If anything, this appeared to be a typical conversation between one of the team members and their leader.
When her walls were spasming around his fingers, he took the opportunity to slip both fingers out of her cunt while chuckling at her whine in response to that. “Such a needy little slut. Don’t worry.. I’m gonna take care of you. Just gotta keep quiet.”
The words made Y/N’s pussy clench around nothing, a muffled moan filling the office as the sound of his belt being undone chased behind it. After tossing the belt to the side, he pushed his pants down along with his boxers.
“Shh, I know.” He whispered as if it were a secret between them when he could hear her whines of impatience, his hand wrapping around his hard cock, hand giving it a few lazy tugs to prepare himself. He let his thick tip tease her folds, spreading her slick around as if the two needed lube. “Alright. Ready?”
With one hand on her hip, he was slowly pushing his cock into her tight cunt, groaning lowly as he watched her pussy envelope his shaft, swallowing him to the hilt while her hands were holding onto the desk tightly.
He waited a solid minute for her to adjust, his hand rubbing her lower back in an effort to soothe her, wanting to have her as comfortable as possible.
When she was giving him the sign she was ready, he was rolling his hips slowly, the man letting out a soft breath that he didn’t know he was holding in. Bringing both hands to grip her hips, it wasn’t long until he was doing deeper, faster strokes.
“Fuck, bite my tie harder, darling. You’re being too loud.” He murmured, hips continuing to slam into hers as a thin layer of sweat was collecting on his forehead. With the desk rocking at a rhythm with Aaron’s thrusts, it was no surprise when some papers or files were falling to the ground around the desk.
He wasn’t gonna worry about that now.
Currently, he was too focused on the rough snap of his hips against Y/N’s, the sound of skin crashing against one another as well as their combined noises filling the office, the desk making its own audio debut as he got a bit rougher as he was fucking her pussy raw.
“Fuck. I’m gonna cum.” He growled, cock twitching as he could feel Y/N’s tight cunt clench him in place, his hand now reaching down to find her throbbing, desperate clit to bring her to relief.
As soon as he could feel her velvety walls pulsating around him and the feeling of her creaming on his cock, that was it for him. His nails dug into her hips, no doubt leaving crescent moon marks while her cunt was milking all the cum that Aaron had to offer.
“Y/L/N,” He spoke, chest rising and falling as he was working on catching his breath, his hand moving to her mouth to retrieve his now soaked tie.
“You need some lessons on manners for that fucking mouth of yours.” His voice was low as he was pulling his cock from her warmth, watching his cum leak out of her pussy before slowly pulling her panties back up.
“I think I know just the way to help you though,”

bad terms
you and derek didn’t end on good terms, so when he returns for a shock case, he’s wracked with guilt at everything he’s missed
luke alvez x reader with canon typical violence can u tell i’m rewatching criminal minds lol
Tumblr media
It’s a simple diamond, resting flush against your ring finger on your left hand. It still catches your eye every so often, almost amazing you that it actually exists each time.
Amazing you that he exists.
Pen was hesitant about the new boy at first, having spent a few months being a man down without her very beloved Derek Morgan when Luke came into the team. She didn’t like him because he replaced Morgan and you felt the opposite, you liked him because he replaced Morgan.
You two did not end on good terms.
“Some of us actually have people that we care about outside of this team, (y/l/n)!”
“Derek!” Penelope tried to cut in. “Some of us have a life outside of this job, I have a kid and a wife, you will never understand that.”
“Morgan!” Hotch boomed, “Outside, now.”
A yawn stretches your lips, awaiting the coffee machine to finish dropping into your “worlds best mom” mug imprinted with a picture of Roxy and Spencer that Luke had gifted you last Christmas. “Morning my precious.” Garcia beams, heels clinking across the floor of the kitchenette in the BAU office. “Morning Penny G,” you try to jest back with the same amount of joy she somehow has at 8:45am, though your attempt is futile.
“How was your holiday, you need to tell me absolutely every single little detail right now and oh- OH!!! Oh my god is this the ring! (y/n) it’s gorgeous, who knew Alvez could actually pull it off.” She holds your hand, admiring the glistening diamond that was beautiful enough to strike you speechless and yet subtle enough to be comfortable and sweet. “It was so good,” you hum, a subconscious glint of happiness beaming out of your eyes at the thought of the week you spent off sunning in the Caribbean on sun loungers by the pool with Luke teaching you to surf on secluded beaches and eating fruit under the sunlight. On the second last night at the end of a candle lit diner on the beach, Luke took to one knee and asked you to marry him after nearly three years of knowing each other and two of dating. “He’s just perfect, I-“
“Well hello there,” JJ mewls as she sways over, “Someone best get the paperwork in for a credential name change.” She sings her voice teasing before she hugs you tightly and offers you her kind congratulations.
“I hate to break up the celebrations you guys,” Emily’s voice appears as she lingers in the doorway apologetically, “But we’ve got a case, and it’s a nasty one.”
Nasty indeed it was, incredibly violent and volatile. A family annihilator killing families of five, two parents three kids and even their pets were being wiped out. It was taxing on everyone, draining everything out of each and every one of you until the unsub was brought down. Your have bags under your eyes, grease in your hair and a little bloody stained under your shirt nails from scraping with the unsub in what would have been his latest victims master bedroom, You’d washed your hands, but hadn’t had a minute to scrub underneath your nails before you all loaded silently onto the jet, immediately taking respective seats and sat, again, in silence.
You curled up on the edge of the couch, case files spread next to you so no one could occupy that space with your case report on the arm of that couch, pen in hand with the top between your teeth as you stared absently as the harrowing photographs. “(y/n),” Luke coos softly, “We landed fifteen minute ago, baby.” He’s crouched down in front of you, gently closing the report file on your lap, sliding it onto the couch where the other files had also been closed without you even so much as noticing. How the hell you hasn’t realised that the plane had landed and each of the team had up and left with sympathetic looks in your direction. Each had held their tongue despite wanting to ask if you were alright, knowing it was better to leave you to the man who had picked up your broken pieces and instead of jamming them all back together, he nursed them carefully with his own splintered fingers so he could hand them back to you to help you tape them all together haphazardly. He made you whole again after your heart was left cracked and leaking by the abandonment of Derek Morgan, your honorary big brother and subsequently the man who hurt you the most with words that still haunt you.
At first you worried that he might’ve been right. Maybe you would never have more than your job. Maybe you would never be capable of love. All of those worries you had confided in Morgan before only to have him use them against you in his moment of weakness for which you have never been able to forgive him.
“I’m sorry.” You whisper, but Luke shakes his head, reaching for your hand to smooth his over. “You’re alright,” He hums, “Let’s get home huh?”
Your nod prompts him to nod, muttering an okay to himself as he straights up. Luke helps you to your feet, clearing the case files into your bag. Your new fiancé holds your hand, fingers intertwined as you walked to the car together. He has the knack for knowing when you don’t want to talk yet, not even attempting to push you until you were safely at home when he knew you’d be more willing to talk. “Wanna wait here while I run up and grab our stuff?” The tall, tanned agent offers, prompting another almost silent ‘yeah’ from you before you peck a kiss against the corner of his lip which makes his cheeks twitch in a gentle smile as he closes the passenger side door for you.
That small action, the little peck on his lip even when you’re run ragged by secondary grief of watching entire families ripped apart in mere moments. The grieving parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers who could never have imagined this happening to them…it was awful. Even in that, you would remind him in the smallest and most silent ways that you were still you in there, frozen beneath something you would work through together, but there. He has these cases too, ones that shake him to his core and he needs you to look after him like he is doing for you today. Next week, he may need that from you and it’ll be a cycle that’ll exist for as long as you do this job, one that neither of you would ever trade for the vindication of putting these bastards away before they can take anything from anywhere else.
The elevator dings open, doors sliding to let Luke Alvez into the bullpen to scrape up some files from his desk into his bag, straightening out his desk a little. He pushes his photographs back into line, smoothing his thumb over the one of you cuddled into Roxy grinning like a fool under the Christmas tree in that very bullpen where the team celebrated Christmas with their families in the middle of a case on the 25th last year. You all took pause for merely a few hours to have a meal, give some gifts and then get right back go work. He loves that picture of you more than anything in the world.
Derek still feels that twinge of unease that floods him whenever he walks into the 6th floor now, faced with his own reflection in the glass doors before he presses his hand to them. The former profiler crosses the bullpen to make his way towards the office of his Baby Girl. He had heard through the grapevine (that being JJ) that this case was absolutely harrowing on everyone, so he wanted to visit like he infrequently does when cases are extremely tough. Being able to give some outsider support is almost always helpful and welcome. Yet, he has never once encountered you whenever he’s come to visit. You hide from him, leaving before he can get there and get gone before he ever lays eyes on you.
“Baby girl?”
Garcia’s head perks up, eyes watering already but immediately flooding when she sees him, rushing into his open embrace. After moments of silence enjoying each other’s presence, they separate and Garcia knows what he’s going to say before he even says it. The look on her face tells him that.
“You think I might catch her?” Derek says, his tone the same one of guilt dusted over with hope that he might get to apologise to you in a way that you had to answer. Not like those texts that you ignore or the calls that you never answered until they eventually stopped. “Sweet man of chocolate,” she lulls, rethinking her words before she says them, and deciding on hope. “If we hurry, we might.”
Emily is still in her office, Rossi in his and Reid at his desk when they emerge onto the raised platform to look over the bullpen. Derek’s eyes fall on his replacement who is logging off his computer, just finished straightening out his photographs. They begin descending the stairs, hyper aware to the fact that you weren’t there.
Derek was about to speak when the dark haired agent moves from his desk to another, folding some brown folders shut and stuffing them into his bag the way he had his own, letting out a scuffed laugh beneath his breath at the sight of your unfinished Rubik’s cube by your keyboard, his fingers dancing over it as he lifts it up to stuff it into your bag. You just couldn’t quite manage to finish one for the life of you. Dots begin to join up in Derek Morgan’s head, why would another agent be picking up files and fidget bits from your desk?
“What’s the story with-”
“Luke your car alarm was blaring in the parking garage,” Matt storms in at a ferocious pace. Luke’s head immediately snaps up, “I checked, passenger side window was smashed, door wide open and (y/n)‘s gone.”
Emily emerges from her office, face paling in the doorway, Rossi already had his phone in hand ringing JJ to get back here and the only sound to be heard amongst the echoing silence is the heavy clatter of an unfinished Rubik’s cube hitting the carpeted floor beneath the feet of terrified agents as a truly petrifying thought rings loud through Luke Alvez’s mind
What if you never get to finish that stupid, multicoloured little square?
A similarly terrified one thumps violently into Derek Morgan’s. What if you never get to hear in person how sorry he is for the words he said, and just how false he knows them to be?
