I’ll go gentle into that good night if I fucking want to.
I want nothing so much as a real operatic cry. Like, on stage.
I wish, at the end of each day, the judges would tell me I’m “safe.”

Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.Strive to be happy. ~ Max Ehrmann, 1927

(2018) I was part of the most amaaaazing campaign with some of my dearest friends in 2018. It was a Nausicaa-inspired story with bugs and song and TERROR and I still think about it to this day <3 How lucky was I.
We had, after a harrowing journey together, JUST lost one of our party members to the rushing waters inside of a cave. We were limited on spells left and our health was awful so going back inside to search was certain death.
Desiderata has big abandonment issues from her childhood, so our party's bard trying to convince her to leave was one of the most heart-wrenching scenes I've ever played out in a tabletop before ;_; Eventually a big hug and some soothing words convinced her to move on but oof.
(I love making comics)

Desiderata had been blind for thirty years, but this hadn't been a problem. She'd always been blessed, if that was the word, with second sight. So when the ordinary eyes gave out you just trained yourself to see into the present, which anyway is easier than the future. And since the eyeball of the occult didn't depend on light, you saved on candles. There was always a silver lining, if you knew where to look. In a manner of speaking.

Should we live for a future?
Should we live to fight for life, when we hate our own lives?
I think getting what you want is just backwards desire.
And the undoing hurts.

His bruises are fading. Sam stares at them in the bathroom mirror, shirt still off while he shaves, skin damp from his shower.

You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here.
Desiderata by Max Ehrmann
I asked the AI what it thought part of one of my (& many others) favourite poems looked like. Each one allowed the bot more & more freedom with style.
Top (green) is with a lot of style freedom, but no creative tag (so it tried to be slightly more literal. The two trees are the same, with slightly less style freedoms. The rainbow light one is with creative on & a quite high style.
The last two? One is as high as the style can go (meaning it really didn’t care what most of my input was. It chose what it liked & made an image.) & the second? Same everything, but a lower style, though still higher than default.
I know a lot of people have opinions on AI art, which is fine. Mine is mostly that it allows me to MAKE art I don’t viciously judge myself on. That I don’t feel like a failure at. But mostly, it lets me make things I find beautiful for myself. A few things I’ve made, someone said I should make as prints to sell, & perhaps, one day I will do that. It will be with the full information of how it was made & the basic prompts (go forth & create, I say).
I’ve just passed 10,000 images made. So, no. They are not all on my profile at MidJourney. Some being horrible failures, others violating the TOS (it’s O.K. as long as you remove them the minute you notice; as in you were not trying to produce gore or nudity, but accidentally did [some examples it has seen of classical art are nudes, so it gets confused]. Granted, I once made a really amazing ass on accident... art, that was. But I X’ed out when I noticed.), & a few being grids of blobby colours. No sense in keeping those. :(
Anyway, regardless of what your take is on AI art, I do hope you can sometimes just see the pretty colours it makes & enjoy while remembering all the spectacular artists that helped it learn & in many cases, are a talent so vast, it has no idea what the fuck you want; talents living & dead. However, I do know in a few cases now, I’ve helped flesh out what someone was struggling to describe for a commission piece & it helped that communication barrier between the non-artist & the person about to create something near & dear to them.
