[Update: CURRENTLY writing a coda for Lebanon where....] and you can follow @lebanon-wip for spoilers/updates 😇
Physically restraining myself from writing a coda fic for Lebanon, where John stays over at the bunker, Cas comes home in the middle of the night & there's tension between him and Dean over whether or not they will still share a room, and then 27-year-old Mary has to sit through Thee most homophobic breakfast with her dead ex-husband, closeted son, and his common law married, ancient eldrich boyfriend.

One thing I would have loved to see in Supernatural is a season with a full-frontal war between Cas and Sam.
It would start with Cas and Sam being bitchy to each other (especially Cas, let's be honest), as usual, but the breaking point is Dean walking in during one of their arguments. Cas notices and turns into a poor, innocent and harmless guy with big blue eyes 🥺 but Sam doesn't so he keeps talking to Cas the same way. Dean swoops in to defend Cas. Dean fusses over Cas and glares at Sam everytime he wants to explain what truly happened.
Sam decides it's war, and everything escalate. Cas and Sam are very careful about hiding this to Dean. Dean notices Sam is being sneaky, but not Cas. Cas uses it to his advantage and rubs it to Sam's face whenever he can (At least Dean trusts me), making Sam even more determined to win.
Of course, somehow, they find a way to trigger an Apocalypse, because the both of them are disasters.

So, I was listening to Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petras and imagined Destiel. In this idea of mine Dean was never a hunter and Cas is human. Dean is settled down with Lisa and Ben and finally gets the white picket fence that he never got to experience as a child. He opens an auto repair shop and one day Cas comes to get his car worked on. Dean is immediately entranced by him and after a few visits and minor repairs on his car their relationship is hardly business. This ends with Cas pinned down in the backseat of his 1978 Lincoln Continental after hours as Dean kisses him. Dean never intended to cheat on Lisa and he never imagined himself having a relationship with another man, but he loves Cas and doesn't want to lose him.
I'm tempted to write a fic with this, thoughts?

I'm such a big fan of immortal cas endgame but he's not an angel, not fully, not the way he was when he came to earth, the righteous man his charge, when the apocalypse was still the most terrifying thing in the world and there was hope of keeping it at bay. but he's not human either, because he can never be, because the body that is his — his — is still not really his. the soul he's grown can't fit in it quite right, not the way a human's is supposed to, anyway.
where does this leave him? somewhere between heaven and earth. with his clipped wings, and his crooked, cracked halo. he'll never quite be human, but he's human enough for his little family of misfits. and he's never going to be an all-powerful angel again, but he's angel enough to teach his son the things he needs to learn, to heal the hurt when he is able, to cross the boundary into heaven when he's called. it's an odd, uncomfortable, terrifying, wonderful place to be. and maybe it's not exactly what he wants, and maybe he longs for his wings and his grace and the power of heaven at the tips of his fingers sometimes, but it's enough, he thinks, considering. he's happy. isn't that kind of the whole point?

Sam, Dean and Cas start investigating a string of angel murders and it turns out there's a group of radical demons who are going around killing angels in an effort to wipe them out for good.
They manage to get information from one of the members that they're tracking angels using the scent of their grace to hellhounds. Even just a tiny trace of it is enough for the hounds to track.
Cas offers himself as bait to draw them out, but Dean immediately suggests he'll do it. He just needs some angel grace inside him.
Cas says no. Sam reluctantly agrees. Dean and Cas have a fight over it. Eventually Cas also reluctantly agrees.
Now all Dean needs to do is ingest some angel grace.....
They go to Dean's room for privacy and Cas gets his angel blade ready to make a cut just as Dean sinks to his knees. And they're like Oh. They clearly had very different ideas of how this was going to go.

I need a fic where Sam starts talking to Dean about his massive crush on a certain angel.
Talking about how beautiful his eyes were, and how he could listen to him talk for hours even if he was particularly dorky, and how he just wanted to run his fingers through his hair. But Never saying his name.
Sam just assumed Dean knew he was talking about Gabriel. Meanwhile, Dean is seething with anger and jealousy over the fact that Sam apparently has a crush on Castiel.

Angels are not supposed to feel love.
How could they? Feelings, emotions, all these — these human perks, derive from the soul. They're ingrained into the construction of the core of human lives to make them be worth something, be worth living. Humans are given such a short span of time that they might as well be born dead. Useless, meaningless little lives in which they're meant to suffer and enjoy and cry and laugh and create and destroy.
But angels? No. They were made to serve God, and be almost as lasting and great as He is. Why would they need souls, or feelings? You wouldn't give a computer nor a cellphone these things, they don't need it. They only need to listen, and obey, and feel wrath in the name of their Father and be able to worship His words. Nothing else.
And yet…
And yet.
The first time one of his siblings fell from grace by a human's hand, Castiel felt disgusted. He couldn't understand the how’s and why’s. Some things needed to happen in order to accomplish Heaven's plan. Some wars, deaths, marriages and massacres needed to be done for the Messiah to be born and the Righteous Man to come along right after. They couldn't afford to fail and put the entire existence in danger. Disobedience was always a whim, a sacrilege, and needed to be punished as such.
He captured Raguel and threw her at Michael’s and Anna’s feet. Castiel was the one to take her wings one by one, twisting them, breaking them, making holes in her ethereal body that could never ever be healed. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, twist. And with all your soul, break. And with all your mind, crash.
And meanwhile Castiel crippled her beautiful Archangel wings, Raguel didn't scream, she didn't scream once. All she repeated over and over again, as breathless as the air —
“But how could you not love them?
How could you know them and not love them?”
She was expelled to the Earth right after… abandoned, cursed, torn. Castiel took charge of most of her responsibilities. As a prize, he gathered. He became one of the most valuable soldiers in Heaven. He was one of the best — maybe the best seraph of them all. It wasn't a surprise Michael and Raphael asked him to lead, capture, threaten and fight non-stop. It's what Raguel would've done had she not been foolish enough to fail. Castiel didn't fail. So, in fact, it was a blessing that when the time came to raise the Righteous Man from Hell, Raguel wasn't around to do it, but Castiel was.
Angels are not supposed to feel love, much less fall in love with.
He wrapped his six wings around the maimed soul, and without surprise, Castiel raised him from perdition. No matter how much Dean Winchester screamed and squirmed in his tight grip, no matter how raw his wings were after the little human soul bit and scratched him, Castiel raised him and rebuilt him with hands that weren't his. He'd never seen a soul from close, and obviously never held one. It was more precious than lightning and mountains, greater than the sea. Knowing it a sin, he couldn't resist putting his mark all over it, possessing it for a moment and claiming it as his. He touched it, he saved it, he was the one to do it. Not Michael. He.
As the days went by and Dean Winchester lived his life, Castiel noticed — there wasn't any other soul like his. Even the most noble and caring souls out there didn't shine half as bright and powerful as Dean's in Hell. Destroyed and corrupted, the Righteous Man held in his core more love and pureness than the most innocent human.
He remembered then, while trying to talk to Dean in his real form, the words of his siblings. He hadn't even crossed a word to this man, and there he was, wanting more. More than worship. More than hatred.
How could you not love them?
How could you know them and not love them?
There he was, wanting more.
And here he is now, in the middle of the day standing in the counter of a Gas n’ Sip looking for the first time at Dean Winchester’s face, bright enough to make anyone forget he once was Michael's Sword. How far those days seem — as if Castiel hadn't been alive since the dawn of creation — how far and wrong those days seem, when Cas looked at Dean’s blurry body and all he could see was the corners his brother would have to stretch to fit in, all the fragile skin and bones he rebuilt and Michael would have to bend and break to make room for himself.
Humans are beasts, Castiel said once to Akobel before he perished in their claws. You have either to tame them or use them. Anything else and they'll devour you from the inside out.
Angels are not supposed to feel love.
But Castiel looks at Dean — he looks at his naked raw face, at those eyes and mouth Castiel once held in his fingertips to bring him back to life — and he inhales deeply to quiet down the rabbit pulse of his heart beating between his borrowed ribs. He just looks at him.
And he feels.

Enough with Dean saying Cas is like a brother in fanfictions (because he told it twice in the course of twelve seasons) and more about Cas gay panic with his "you… and i'M obViouSly TalkIng abOut EveryOnE HeRe!" (at least three times in the show).
"I love you" why did I say that? abort! abort! "and when I say you, I mean EVERY people here. Including Bobby (dead for a decade), Sam (with or without a soul, is there a difference?) or Mary (killed by my ward, my bad, let's put that behind us). I'm obviously thinking about ALL of you equally."

NY AU where Dean is a Wall Street big shot and Cas is a Brooklyn artist.
They meet at his exhibition, Dean knows nothing about art, just wants to make a good investment.
Cas sends him selfies like this (and much worse) when Dean is working, making it really hard to keep his mind on his job.

late seasons cas would actually implode if he ever met season one dean. i think we all would but like hear me out. cas never got to meet dean at the peak of his bratty twink era - the dean that always rallied for a kiss for a job well done, the dean that wore an oversized jacket, the dean that had to tell sam to chill out, the dean that didn’t need a whiskey to fall asleep at night, the dean whose voice wasn’t forever altered from years of screaming his lungs out in hell. this 26 yr old hypermasc dumbass would be like precious gold to him.
of course, cas appreciates dean at all points but i feel like he’d be so intent on protecting season one dean specifically. like this is the boy that had hope for the world. this silly little guy with his cassette tapes and perfect pouty lips. and oh, this poor oblivious dean. this dean who thought vampires were fictional. who hasn’t believed in a higher power since his mother was alive. now he’s got an angel, an honest to god angel telling him that he’s good enough, that he’s more than just sam’s keeper, that he is loved.
oh and the ride to poundtown? yeah, it’d be like the slow climb of a roller coaster with dean in denial and cas not wanting to taint this perfect creation and then when it finally crests the top - dean giving in, flirting hopelessly w/ cas ignoring his attempts until he finally just straight up tries to get into cas’ pants - only for the roller coaster to go over the hill and the descent is just as slow as the beginning - cas rejecting him out of some perceived guilt and sense of duty, dean withdrawing from him, humiliated. granted, the first time would be the most painfully loving and reverent act one can possibly imagine - while the subsequent encounters afterwards would be filthy. like this is the dean that flirted w/ everything that moved, you can bet your ass he’s on that angel 25/7 and poor cas, sweet worn and weary cas, goes full “will you, boy?” dom on that bitch. don’t get me started on how the mouth watering the height/build difference would be
i think i got off topic. point being dean deserves the world (it’s just shaped like an angel rn)

DESTIEL TANGLED AU ACTUALLY. I ACTUALLY NEED THAT.
The healing motifs? Dean becoming a thief to feed his little brother? Naomi as Castiel's Mother Gothel? Being stuck in a tower that's full of all the possible art, because Castiel yearns to learn more of humanity even as Naomi paints a terrifying picture. There are yarn balls strewn around, wax candles, clay and other unfinished pottery, paintings on the walls, too few books to satisfy his curiosity—and one mean-spirited orange cat he named, "Meg."
There could be so much more but my mind's still reeling from the lantern scene.
