Aquatic Yautja

So, for a while now I’ve been wanting to draw my version of an aquatic yautja since I’ve been seeing them for a while now. A lot of aquatic Yautja art I see are just regular Yautja with tails and fins slapped onto them with not many other aquatic aspects you see in other water animals. I wanted to make a more accurate looking aquatic yautja.

I imagine them having the following traits (if you can’t read my chicken scratch)

Thicker locks

Webbed digets

Tail

Large eyes

Smaller mandibles

Gills

Sensory fins

Thicker claws

Smooth skin

Their faces are more rounded and smooth to help them glide through the water a lot better. They lack eye bags since they dwell in places that doesn’t have that much light, hence the bigger eyes to take in more light. Their larger claws help them to dig around for food and for better grip when handling things or to fight off threats. They have large and powerful tails to help them swim elegantly and quick in the water. Since they are always in water, their mandibles are smaller and retracted, so they always show their teeth.

also, thank you so much for your writing! i'm a bit of a lurker but i just wanted to stop by and tell you that in pursuit to and from the sun is my favourite work of yours. that fic solidified my love for luca because i'm so in love with your characterisation of him so much. i love the subtlety of the other unintentionally ignoring him and it's just... really good? it's a favourite trope of mine for characters who need support just not being listened to (and not saying anything) and the consequences of that is always wonderful.

in any case, thank you very much for writing what you write! please do take care of yourself, esp in these trying times (finals, work, holiday obligations, etc)!!

anyways YESSSSS i mean it i do i do! i love when people pick up on how luca behaves and is treated in that fic i do! i don't know if i'll stop being proud of it, even once my writing ability and subtlety improves. ik it's not a great literary classic or anything but i love when i make my writing, fanfic especially, have more depth than initial read. especially since i'm an x reader blog. especially especially when i put aside the time to write big chonky fics like in pursuit.

in a way you could say the bit about the rest of luxiem + reader treating him like an inanimate object to be protected is an allegory for fans babying the livers since that was a thing when i began drafting that fic. cool if you do cool if you don't. ultimately the way i neglected to write his character is a reflection of how the rest of the cast neglected to actively listen to him. i ended up writing a digetic narrator—an unreliable one!—before i learned what diegetic even means lol

i guess you could say that's one of the reasons why it's your favorite trope! because it forces the reader to explore why the lack of attention to these characters causes them to become the way they are, and then analyze the fallout to the cause; especially when the rest of the cast is caught unawares that they haven't been acting as good as they thought. that tends to become inevitable regardless if the author intended it to be a part of the narrative. or, like, not, i'm not here to tell you what to like about your favorites, that's up to you. i think it's times like these where it gets a little too obvious that i'm not a criminal justice graduate like the rest of my colleagues in vsf.

i think i should stop talking before one of the higher-ups can identify which private has been using the computers for rpf again.

Let's have a bit about Ozvald and his Clan

-Ozvald is from a forest Clan of Goblins that reside outside of the city that Diedre's family ruled over. They have a long illustrious history of existing and breathing. And apparently being a nuisance to farmers and being called overgrown green rabbits that keep stealing potatoes and carrots. Times were good.

-Unfortunately like many Goblin Clans, they had their independence seized by a much larger goblinoid predator (a Bugbear). It started out nice at first-the Bugbear kept them safe from natural predators (wolves, bears, really ballsy eagles.) and in exchange they provided the Bugbear with food and shelter. But unfortunately like many cases, the management became toxic. The bugbear started spending more of his time drinking and abusing the goblins than actually protecting them.

-The goblins that survived the abuse became very bedraggled and scarred. Too exhausted to hunt and gather efficiently on top of having to defend themselves resulting in the bugbear abusing them further. Once proud numbers dwindled down to concerning double digets. Too weak to afford running away and too dependent on the safety that at least the rumor of having a bug bear supplied.

-Ozvald's position as the 'commander' was more of a group elected position. More of a 'we collectively vote OZVALD to tell his surliness all the bad news that we may have for him'. His ability to withstand being tossed around like a shot putt resulted in the other goblins admiring him and he sort of became the unspokenly voted leader.

-Ozvald lost his eye due to the bugbear being too rough with him. Because of that, he usually tries to have people he doesn't trust too fully walk on the side that he has an eye on; with Diedre, he lets her walk in his blind spot as a sign of trust.

-Ozvald also protected the other permantly disabled goblins, like Beetle who was blinded, as the Bugbear didn't want to waste time and resources on 'those who can't pull their weight.' and would often kill them while they were sleeping. Ozvald spent most of the time he could be sleeping watching over the other Goblins with a few volunteers as the bug bear didn't at least have the audacity to kill them while any others were awake.

-Ozvald didn't properly know his parents, as they left near the start of the Bugbear's reign. Not out of selfishness, but with other goblins in an attempt to find a less populated area they could move to as the city and human population was getting much much bigger locally and would soon take problem with the goblins...existing in general. The group never returned and are presumed dead. Ozvald had hardly known a life of luxury growing up in an abusive leader's reign.

-Ozvald wanted his clan to grow in prosperity, he wanted them to achieve a sense of comfortableness that the city people got to enjoy-he wanted their clan to have all the things. Economy, Art, Warm Floors, Clean water. But the Bugbear's reign essentially kept them in a sort of 'stone age' status.

week 4

This week we learnt about production design and its importance in the movie. Our teacher told us about the different departments that are created and what each one of them do. The different departments are-

Art design- this department works on how the set looks based on the requirements of the scene. Like props and set design. The different colour schemes are kept in mind and implemented by this department. Costume design- This department is responsible for creating a character’s costume based on scene, colour theories and the character Hair and makeup-This department gives the actor the final touches based on the requirements of the scene. Lighting- this department is responsible to make the set match the required descriptions of the scene.

In the next class our teacher taught us about color schemes and how it affects our final result. how even though its subtle it could have a huge impact on the final product.

In the next class we learnt about audio and the importance of radio in a movie and the different ways sounds are recorded. It can be recorded on set which is called pilot sound which is used to watch when dubbing. Dubbing is when they go to a recording studio and record We also learnt what are digetic and non-digetic sounds.
