Today I redrew a paleoart piece I did in 2005, titled "Dimorphodon summer". I was very fond of it back then, so redrawing it was very special to me. Just something fun.

Few aesthetics go harder than “Wild West but With Dinosaurs” so it was high time I drew something with that

Two Dimorphodons, members of a small pterodactyl species, sitting on a branch on a sunny day. Art by me and I am very happy how it turned out and proud of me that I took the time to draw details and a better background for once. ---- The BG is mostly photos that I edited together and blurred, with some leaf-brush strokes here and there. I coloured them different to make them sexually dimorphic, meaning the male has beautiful bright colours on the head and the female has better colours for camouflage. There is no evidence of sexual dimorphism or even colours in Dimorphodon species as far as I know, but it's not unreasonable and I like it this way. More trivia: The colours were inspired by the *let me check my material real quick* ... Orange cheeked Waxbird. A bird that I found in a google search for some interesting brown-coloured birds.

A male Dimorphodon displays his vibrant colors to attract a female.
It took me quite a while to figure out the posing on this one I redrew both Dimorphodons about 3 times each. I based the colors on modern toucans, keel-billed and toco.

Dimorphodon, pattern based on a Malayan civet and with a fluffy tail. The vane on the tail in many depictions is speculation based on Rhamphorhynchus, which wasn't very closely related and had a different lifestyle, rhamph being a fisher and dimorph being a ground stalker.
