i think ‘Big’ Jack Horner is Disney, and here’s why

many of us have had the pleasure of seeing the incredible Puss in Boots: The Last Wish by now, and were blown away by its clever writing, enchanting animation and emotional character arcs. yet there is one character who booted the trend of having a reason for his behaviour, and outright refused to experience any growth whatsoever.

let’s talk about ‘Big’ Jack Horner, and why i think he’s supposed to represent Disney:

‘Big’ Jack Horner isn’t just an antagonist in The Last Wish - he’s a villain. a self-obsessed, exploitative, murderous, petty, cruel bastard of a man whose awful behaviour isn’t just motivated by personal slights or childhood trauma: he sincerely enjoys hurting other people. whether it’s cheating his goons (’The Serpent Sisters’) out of a fair payment for their services or being excited about shooting a puppy in the face, there’s no denying that Jack delights in causing others pain and suffering. but what does he have to do with Disney?

let’s answer that question with another question: do you think that Jack, when placed next to the other antagonists - Goldi, The Three Bears, even Death - sticks out like a sore, plum-coloured thumb?

of course he does! but why? well, let’s look at Jack on a surface level. Jack is a monolith of a human being. not only is he physically huge and intimidating, he is the inheritor of an enormous pastry fortune and operates in the manner of a mob boss, with countless resources and a whole variety of powerful magical items at his disposal. indeed, Jack employs a crack team of bakers/assassins called ‘The Baker’s Dozen’ to carry out many of his tasks. although Jack does harm others himself, it is because of these resources - including the people who work for him - that he is able to bypass many of the obstacles faced by our protagonists in an honest and character-developing way (e.g., the Pocket Full O’Posies in The Dark Forest). Jack doesn’t need to have a character arc the way the other characters do, because he is so wealthy and owns so much.

but Jack’s reason for owning so much and being obsessed with magic and magical items isn’t through intellectual curiosity, or a traumatic backstory where he needed to learn how to wield magic. do you know what Jack’s covert motivation for owning all of the magic in the world is?

it’s money.

when we get the flashback of Jack’s childhood, dancing for the entertainment of an audience using his nursery rhyme, we see him becoming jealous of Pinocchio - and we see Gepetto in the back, absolutely raking in the cash. if we consider this flashback as that crucial moment within which Jack decided to become what he is today - and the presence of our off-brand Jiminy Cricket inclines us to think so - then we can understand that Jack decided that from that moment forward, he would own all of the magic. 

let’s go back to The Baker’s Dozen for a moment. this team of highly-competent, multidisciplinary artisans do everything for Jack, whether it’s baking the pies which make him rich, or laying down their lives at his service. we aren’t given an in-universe reason for why they do this. yes, Jack is feared, but he is still the subject of mockery due to his humble beginnings as a nursery rhyme character. it certainly isn’t due to being treated or paid well. however, if we view the Baker’s Dozen as a metaphor for overworked, exploited artists whose views are routinely dismissed by the money-hungry, powerful corporation who owns their craft...things start to add up, don’t they? considering historic allegations of worker abuse at the hands of Disney, having Jack Horner literally step on their spines and encourage them to flex takes on a whole different meaning. 

it doesn’t end there. do you recognise the items that Jack pulls out of his Mary Poppins bag when his Baker’s Dozen are being destroyed by the Pocket Full O’Posies - the items that he calls ‘the big guns’? it’s the broomstick from Fantasia, the spinning wheel from Sleeping Beauty, the size snacks from Alice in Wonderland, and a knock-off Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio - all references to some of Disney’s earliest and most famous films.

still don’t believe me? well, let’s recap more of the items Jack has in his repertoire:

a hook-hand (referencing Captain Hook in Peter Pan)

a trident (referencing King Triton in The Little Mermaid)

poison apple bombs (referencing The Evil Queen in Snow White)

a glass slipper (again referencing Cinderella)

remember what happens when the knock-off Jiminy Cricket (interesting that there are so many Pinocchio references specifically, huh?) is horrified that Jack is losing so many men? Jack says he isn’t worried about losing the manpower, because he has a bottomless bag full of magical weapons. Jack literally gets his power off of the backs of his workers. sounds a lot like a big company justifying worker layoffs and exploitation because they have so many properties and are too big to fail, doesn’t it? 

hell, Jack doesn’t even know what half of these items do! when he’s using the unicorn horns as ammo, he is surprised that they cause people to explode in a shower of confetti. viewing Jack through this lens, it’s difficult not to think about enormous corporations gobbling up properties and churning out content with little to no regard for their artists (looking back at The Baker’s Dozen - some of whom do perish in the fight with the unicorn horns) or what the properties are about. we haven’t even touched on Jack coveting the Wishing Star, a recurring motif in countless Disney movies as representing magic, dreams, and boundless creativity. 

now, i hear you saying, ‘but Star! why would DreamWorks bother writing their bad guy as a metaphor for Disney?’ believe it or not, this isn’t the first time that DreamWorks have done this. in case you didn’t know, Lord Farquaad is a caricature of Michael Eisner, former chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company. the production of Shrek was actually quite troubled; animators who were perceived as having failed on other projects were ‘Shreked’, or sent to work on Shrek, instead of working on other (presumed to be more lucrative) films. of course, DreamWorks was co-founded by previous Disney CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, hence the animosity towards Disney and its works evident in the Shrek franchise. this is what formed the story of Shrek: an ugly, crude outsider character taking on the clean-cut moralising of a dictator hell-bent on a so-called ‘perfect’ world, all created against the creative backdrop of a painful separation from Disney and a great deal of pent-up rage. 

the irreverent, crass and sometimes adult humour of Shrek was a middle finger to Disney’s high-censorship control on animation. this is why Lord Farquaad (which you may have noticed sounds a bit like ‘Fuckwad’) is so obsessed with Duloc being ‘perfect’, and why he couldn’t stand the freedom of the fairy tale creatures who are the heroes of the first Shrek movie.

in fact, this kind of meta-commentary permeates the Shrek franchise: 

The Fairy Godmother from Shrek 2, despite being a fairy tale creature herself, is highly prejudiced against characters who break out of their perceived social norms: i.e., Shrek marrying Princess Fiona and getting his Happily Ever After. she is an expansion of the control left over by Lord Farquaad, and rich because of her monopolisation of fairy tale creatures and their stories. 

Prince Charming in Shrek the Third fails miserably to capitalise on these themes, but we’ll get back to him! 

Rumpelstiltskin from Shrek Forever After tackles the gluttony of franchise reboots, and how soulless and rooted in corporate greed attempts to reboot often are. whilst not necessarily Disney-specific, Shrek Forever After follows the box office bomb that was Shrek the Third: a movie which noticeably fails to write a compelling narrative approaching any of the themes of the previous two films. the writers learned from their mistakes and wrote a movie which satirised their own selling-out of the franchise, becoming hollow and unnecessary and ‘perfect’ - the very thing they were making fun of in the earlier Shrek films.

there is one more area i’d like to touch on: Jack Horner’s source material. we know that Little Jack Horner is quite obscure: an 18th-century English nursery rhyme involving a boy who pulls a plum out of a pie with his thumb, and congratulates himself for his fortitude. but did you know that from its earliest conception, Little Jack Horner was associated with foolishness and dishonesty?

it’s true: the simple yet inexplicable nature of the poem was lambasted for being infantile, and quickly became the subject of revision, moralisation, and even political satire. it is no mistake that to ‘be under one’s thumb’ (as many of the characters in The Last Wish are to Jack, both literally and figuratively) means to be under one’s decisive control. the choice of Jack Horner for the villain of The Last Wish is a clever one, because we could easily have ended up with a sympathetic Jack, whose ostracisation as ‘not even a fairy tale’ may have led to a justifiable motive, even for his specific brand of cruelty. but instead, the writers of The Last Wish have gone one step further; they’ve transformed a source affiliated with idiocy and deception into a metaphor for a global multimedia conglomerate...all while portraying him as simultaneously terrifying, powerful, and ridiculous. 

it has been over a decade since Shrek Forever After was released, and Disney has changed dramatically in that time. a global giant, Disney now owns more enormous money-making properties than ever thought possible, and consistently capitalises on nostalgia for its early properties to make more money and accumulate power. since breaking out of its exclusive licensing agreement with Disney in 2016, DreamWorks has had no official connection to Disney, making the ground for mockery and satirisation of the company which spawned the studio all the more fertile. ‘Big’ Jack Horner is not just a glamorous return to form for the dreadful, unapologetically evil villain which Disney has eschewed in modern times - he’s a hulking, egocentric monster whose avarice rivals that only of the corporation he’s inspired by. 

and those are my thoughts on ‘Big’ Jack Horner! of course this is by no means the definitive interpretation - we should all just have fun with the movie and come up with whatever theories we like 🥰💖 i’d love to hear your thoughts on him and The Last Wish in general - he’s definitely one of my favourite bad guys to be released in the past few years!

This was all a part of the gig. People assumed things about you, people talked. They sometimes even asked you questions that you couldn’t believe you were hearing, especially from the other moms at Remi’s preschool.

Does your husband give you a weekly allowance?

Do you have a credit card exclusively to shop?

Are any of his teammates single?

You hated the politics. The fake smiles and even more fake compliments when you knew that they were probably talking about you behind your back. The school itself was amazing though and gave your daughter the freedom to be a kid without completely invading her privacy. So in turn, if all you had to do was rub elbows with some people who you weren’t the biggest fan of, it was a small sacrifice that you were absolutely willing to make.

Part of those small sacrifices was following rules and guidelines set for school sponsored events. Remi’s school was hosting a bake sale tonight to raise funds for a local family’s medical expenses. Justin really didn’t want to go after you’d been telling him the various drop-off stories about the other parents so he suggested writing a check and skipping the whole thing.

“I did not bake these vegan, gluten-free, peanut free, yet still delicious football brownies for no reason. Plus, I already promised Remi she could have some treats today. Do you really want to explain to her that she’s going to be staying home while all of her friends eat dessert at school? Be my guest.”

He looks at you like he’s really thinking about it, but then he remembers his baby’s sweet face talking about how excited she was this morning and he can’t disappoint her. “You know what? I’m actually ready to go. I’ll go get Remi and we can leave.”

You continue to pack up your brownies in your trays as you laugh to yourself. She really does have him wrapped around her little fingers.

Thing One and Thing Two waltz back into the kitchen as soon as you’re done and Remi’s eyes bulge out of her head.

“Mama, those look yummy. Are you a chef?” She asks, looking amazed. She’s been really big on compliments lately, always calling her dad “handsome” because she heard you say it once.

“I am a chef sometimes, only for you though sweet girl. Are you ready to go back to school?”

She nods excitedly, holding her hands out for Justin to carry her. “We going to the cookie party?”

“We are going to the cookie party,” he coos, “but remember mini, we’re only getting three treats, so you have to choose your favorites and that’s it. Deal?”

“Deal.“ She gives him a kiss on the cheek and he gives you a wink before heading into the garage to get her settled.

The entire car ride consisted of Remi making guesses on what snacks people were going to bring and how she couldn’t wait to see her friends.

Luckily when your husband pulled into the parking lot there weren’t very many people there. Remi insisted on helping you carry in a tray of brownies and was walking very carefully next to you so she wouldn’t drop them.

“I got it mama. I’m strong.”

“Yes you are sugar. Thank you for being such an amazing helper.” You gave her a smile which she happily returns.

Justin walks behind the two of you, smiling to himself at the sweet interaction. Remi was definitely a daddy’s girl but she also worshipped the ground you walked on and it was a funny thing to see. He was definitely her best friend and she wanted to spend every waking moment in life with him but nobody could convince the three year old that you weren’t a Disney princess. And if anyone asked her who her favorite Disney princess was, she’d say her mommy, because no one in this world was more magical to her than you.

The three of you had almost made it inside before a voice stopped you in your tracks.

“Oh hi Herbert family! I’m so glad you all could make it. Wasn’t sure it fit into your busy schedule.” She said the last part not so subtly playing with her hair while staring at Justin.

He gives her a sideways glance before forcing a smile. “Well we promised Remi she could have some special treats tonight and didn’t want to go back on that promise.” On cue, your daughter handed you the other tray of brownies, feeling her arms getting tired and knowing this would be a long conversation.

It wasn’t that you didn’t like Mason’s mom, you just couldn’t remember her name and it was too late to ask. She was also the main person always in your business about being an NFL wife like it was some secret society she was dying to be a part of. She batted her eyes through her lash extensions and give your husband another look. “Justin if you don’t mind, could you please help me carry these cupcakes inside? I may have gone overboard and now I can’t carry all of these by myself.”

“Sure,” he sighs, leaning into her car and grabbing three trays. Mason and Remi were already starting to walk inside so you hesitantly followed them, not wanting to leave Justin alone.

“Ugh, you are an absolute lifesaver.” She runs a hand down his arm before grabbing the rest of the cupcakes and heads inside, keeping the distance between them minimal.

With the evening the full swing, you were at your wit’s end. It was like watching a pack of hyenas fighting each other for a piece of meat. Every time you looked someone was pulling him away to offer him their dessert or to ask him questions in a flirty tone. One mom even went as far as asking him when she’d be invited to a game. You couldn’t roll your eyes anymore or they might get stuck in the back of your head. So you tried to drown your sour feelings in a root beer float while watching your daughter play with her classmates.

You sat alone at one of the tables and Remi came to find you to give you her three treats she was taking home. Before you could say anything, she was gone and back to playing tag. A warm hand on your shoulder eased your annoyance, only slightly. “Are you clocking out for the night?” You giggle at his look of exhaustion. His social meter probably ran out 30 minutes ago.

Giving you a pointed look, he grabs your drink off the table and starts digging in as you rub his back. “I don’t think I’ve ever had to fake laugh this much in my entire life. Not even during interviews. Those women can talk.”

“Definitely that, they love Justin Herbert. Especially Mason’s mom.” You tried to keep the bite out of your tone, you really did. His shoulders perked up at your comment but the ice cream was really taking up a lot of his attention.

“Isabel?” Oh…that was her name. “Yeah she was laying it on pretty thick but she’s harmless.”

“Harmless?” You scoff, “I saw her carry two 15 pound boxes last week and now that you’re here suddenly she’s a damsel in distress? I’m not buying it.”

“Easy tiger I’m on your side here.” He jokes, clearly amused, even if you weren’t. “You know…it’s really cute when you’re jealous.” Justin scoots his chair closer and puts a hand on your thigh.

“I’m not jealous I just don’t like that she keeps staring at you like she’s trying to picture you naked.” It wasn’t the first time she’d acted this way and it was just really…gross to watch.

He looks over at where Isabel is standing and she gives him a wave before he turns his back to her, whispering in your ear, “well you don’t have to picture it…you’ve seen it.”

“You’re right, I should tell her that.”

“Babe,” he shakes his head with a small laugh. “You remember Remington right? About 3 feet tall, blonde hair, green eyes, adorable little voice? We made an actual child together. I think she knows we’ve seen each other naked. A few times.”

Taking a deep breath, you allow your husband to bring you back down to Earth. You place your hand on top of his and hold on tight. Sometimes it felt like his hands were made to hold yours. The look you give each other is enough to discourage any other woman from coming up to him the rest of the night. It was a look of love in its purest form, like two souls that had worked tirelessly to find each other. And now that they had, there was no letting go.

A few minutes later Remi found her way into Justin’s arms. ”Mama, I need my bed.” You can tell how serious she is by the way she’s rubbing her eyes with her fist.

“I hear you sister, I need my bed too. Maybe it’s time for us to go home?”

She nods slowly and the three of you stand up, with one of Justin’s arms holding Remi and one hand wrapped in yours. He was definitely ready to get his girls home.

Time:

Can’t cook. Like yeah, he can try, but with so long of only eating salad while living with the kokiri and not necessarily needing to eat during a time loop, he can’t cook.

Twilight:

Look i’m as in love with him having wolf traits as the next person, but hear me out. He knows how to bake. So well infact that he doesn’t know when to stop and needs to shovel off the goods onto other people.

Wild:

Partially deaf, knows sign to accommodate for this and his muteness, nerve damage to the scar, partially blind, you get the deal… So he has everything. Oh what’s that? Someone’s knocked out on the road? He has a solution. Someone’s frozen in ice? Give him a minute. You died? He knows a guy who can undo that. He’s also really good at braiding hair.

Warriors:

Ok, bit of a stretch here. But literally Achilles. His mother prayed to the Hylia river as she washed her son for the first time and oops he’s immune to pretty much everything. But not everything.

Four:

He looks like he can sing. No real basis to this. I just imagine him singing as he works. I also imagine there being a kiln in his forge and every now and then he’ll throw something. He just likes any creative work where he’s using his hands.

Legend:

I’m on team Legend with chronic pain or needing mobility aid. Projecting? Yeah maybe. Anyway- I’d like to present all those magic rings are also finger splints to keep his joints in place while fighting and what not.

Hyrule:

Fae. Loves sugar, honey, flowers, spare rupees, etc. I also feel like he’d know how to paint to some capacity. I think he’s more of a watercolor guy but I could see him going absolutely insane with some oils or charcoals.

Sky:

Literally a disney princess. Animals flock to him. Voice of an angel. Transatlantic accent, but the soft kind of that makes sense? Not “where’s my dinner woman!!” but like “I’m so glad to be home to you darling” …

Wind:

Can and will drink someone under a table. Constant sea walk. Knows all the sea shanties. High society’s worst nightmare…. accept his behavior switches on a dime. So imagine when the chain meets, Wind is originally all sweet and polite with time… but then warriors shows up and he goes back to being a menace.

Riddle:

Riddle isn't really a stranger to bad days

When he heard you were having a bad day he decided maybe you needed some cheering up

A little teatime and maybe a cuddle session with the hedgehogs would do the trick

Riddle smiled to himself as he had everything ready for you asking Trey to tell you to meet him in the rose gardens for teatime

When you get there you weren't expecting what you found, your favorite snacks and tea waiting for you with Riddle smiling his face a bright red for once not from anger

He told you how he knew how it felt to be overworked and so tired from everything so he wanted to give you what he knew was a well deserved break

After tea you both went to the hedgehogs for snuggles with Riddle making note to maybe have things like this every week with you

Trey:

This man has seen his share of nuttiness throughout each day of every year but he knows one can only take so much

He knows just the thing to make you smile again, a nice batch of sweets

Trey always remembers your favorite desserts

When you come back from class and are clearly exhausted, the smell of fresh baked treats hits your nose

Trey will invite you to sit and talk about what happened that week that made you so down

He'll remind you that while things look bad now they'll get better and he'll be there for you so for now just have a cookie

Ace:

Ace knows bullshit when he sees it so he knows when you say you're fine despite the tired look in your eyes and your shoulders slumping, he knows you are far from it

He knows it won't be easy to get you to tell him but that doesn't mean he won't try to figure it out

Ace kinda figured out your day had to be horrible if you lost your homework, got pushed a few times, and almost got set on fire in alchemy

He decided maybe something simple would cheer you up

You weren't exactly expecting to find him in your room when your day was finally over much less him with a deck of cards

Ace had decided to perform a few magic tricks for you with the cards and within a little bit he had you smiling, card tricks were good for smiles after all

Deuce:

When this sweet boy noticed how unhappy you were he knew something had to be up

Deuce kinda followed you around for a bit and he figured out you were having a rough week because of a lot of things tests included

Deuce knew you needed to take your mind off of things at least for a little bit and it hit him

He decided to take you for a ride on his blastcycle

Deuce waited until after class before asking you to follow him

He led you to the beach where his cycle was helping you on and telling you to hold on tight

You two rode off for a while until the sun started to set

You hugged him thanking him for helping you and Deuce knew he had to go for rides with you more often

Cater:

He knows right away when you're frowning something had to have been bad, real bad

Cater is good at reading expressions so even if you weren't he'd know you needed a break from the crazy that school nonsense brought

Cater decided maybe his boo*you* needed a day at your favorite skate park

He'd text you to grab your board to meet him there

He knows this would at least make you take your mind off the hard stuff so you could smile again

Cater loves seeing your face when you skate because you look happy and free something he adores about you so he knows you'll probably need 3 or 4 skate sessions in the week he's happy to obilge you

You watched as the young boy sighed yet again at the images that hung in the shops, depictions of snow covered houses and roads, cars carrying freshly cut trees and children having snowball fights. Yes these Thomas Kinkade-esk paintings were lovely, but impossible, at least where you were. The lively town of Santa Carla was known for many things, the pier and boardwalk, the runaways, the drifters, the shady passer-throughs, the missing people, and being the murder capital of the world…But what it wasn't known for…Was snow…that was California for you. You were very much used to it, having come from Florida, you had never seen the joyous fluffy powder that caused kids to lose their minds and adults to bundle up around the fireplace. But you were in fact, one of those adults, and Laddie wanted to be one of those kids. 

"I really wish it snowed here" he pouted as the two of you walked along the boardwalk, the boys currently out hunting. 

"Christmas is supposed to look like that" he stated, pointing at another image. 

"But it's never like that here, it's just like every other day"

"But with presents" 

"But with presents," he giggled.

"I know sweetie, if it makes you feel any better, I've never seen snow either" you told him.

"Really?" 

"Nope, it was always too hot where I lived in Florida to snow. I've never had a white Christmas either" you explained, watching as the boy looked back at the image.

"I wish Santa would bring snow this year, for both of us" he stated, and you swore your heart melted. Laddie was such a sweet and gentle child, you wanted to give him the world…and if it was snow he wanted, dang it he was gonna get it…You just had to figure out how.

"So you want to make it snow for Christmas?" Dwayne asked after you had pitched the idea to him once they returned, Laddie off with Paul and Marko on rides.

"I want to figure out some way, he deserves to feel that sort of Christmas magic" you explained, watching Dwayne give you a small smile as he leaned over the table, taking one of your fries.

"And how do you purpose we do that Princess?" 

"That's where I'm stuck. I know back home, Disney does this thing called snoap, where it's this soap mixture that shoots out of these box things that looks like snow. But I'm not sure what the mixture is" you explained, watching him nod.

"If we found one of those big snow machines to…borrow for a bit that might work, but they are loud, he'd know where the snow was coming from" you added.

"I know there is also a mixture of baking soda and water you can make for fake snow. Or powder that you just add water to that makes fake snow…I'm not sure" you sighed.

"You just want him to have a good Christmas…A memorable one" he smiled.

"Exactly! I'm used to never having seen snow by now. But I know how badly I wanted to see it when I was his age. It was never the same type of Christmas in Florida that you saw plastered everywhere. Now snow, no fireplaces for Santa to climb down to put presents under the tree"

"I still don't see how we teach our kids that a man breaking into your house is ok as long as he has gifts" 

"That's not the point" you laughed, though he was right, it was an odd concept.

"I want to give him that moment that, maybe, Christmas can be magical wherever you are" you explained, saddened by the thought that maybe you wouldn't be able to. But Dwayne just took your hand in his and gave you a soft smile.

"We'll figure something out"

"Are you sure this will work?" You giggled, looking at the machines that each of the boys held, they honestly looked like some sort of large leaf blower but there were slots on the back end for a large chunk of ice, chunks of ice that the boys had somehow acquired an overabundance of. It had been a couple nights since you had pitched the idea to Dwayne, both of you trying to figure out how to bring it to life, this seemed to be his solution.

"We overheard the guys saying these were the latest and greatest for the snow park places" Paul stated while patting the machine he was holding.

"We already did a test run, you should have seen how confused the couples on the beach were" Marko laughed.

"Oh my God is that snow?!" Paul mimicked a woman's voice while looking over at Marko.

"It can't be, it doesn't fuckin snow in California!" Marko replied, deepening his voice.

"Then what is it?! What if it's poison! I'm getting out of here!" Paul finished in the high pitched voice before they both laughed. You could truly picture these two flying over random couples to terrorize them, safely hidden by the clouds.

"Well I'm glad they bring joy to everyone" you laughed. 

"So how do you purpose we do this?" David asked, looking at you and Dwayne.

"This is your son after all," he added. Even after this much time that still made your heart warm…Your son. Dwayne had treated Laddie like a little brother until you came along, the little boy soon growing attached to you, and when you and Dwayne made it official it didn't take long for the boy to ask if you could be his parents, a question you happily said yes to. 

"We'll wait just a bit for it to get cloudy, then we'll take off. The ice is hidden far enough away so even when we have to get more he'll never know. Y/N you bring the rock box out and turn it up as loud as it can go to cover up any noises from these" Dwayne explained while lifting the machine slightly.

"Sounds like a plan" Paul smiled, Marko and David nodding along.

"Thank you for doing this" you told them all with a smile, you really were beyond thankful to them for helping you give Laddie a Christmas to remember.

"You don't have to thank us Sorella, we want Laddie to be happy too" Marko spoke while sitting down his machine.

"Yeah! Every kid should have at least one magical Christmas!" Paul smiled excitedly.

"And if we can provide that, then we will" David finished, a small smile on his face.

"Now you better go get ready" he added while looking over at the cave.

"Ok, I'll go get everything, be out in ten?" You asked, watching as they all nodded, the clouds overhead becoming denser.

"We'll see you then" Dwayne smiled, leaning down to give you a kiss before you made your way back inside.

You and Laddie finished wrapping the last of the gifts for the boys, knowing that tomorrow night you would be watching the boy happily hand them to everyone. You secretly checked your watch for what felt like the hundredth time, before realizing it had been ten minutes already. 

"Ok! So now that we got that done, wanna go outside? We can bring the rock box" you smiled.

"Can we bring your Christmas cassette?!" He asked excitedly.

"Of course!" You nodded, standing up and grabbing the boom box and desired cassette tape. Before the both of you made your way up the stairs.

"Why are we going outside to listen to music though?" He asked once you both got out of the cave.

"Well…I heard that something magical was gonna happen tonight" you smiled, sitting down with him and putting the cassette in, turning the volume all the way up, the boy's cue.

"Magical?" Laddie asked while looking over at you.

"Yup, but we gotta watch for it" you nodded towards the sky, and you both turned to look at the clouds, Laddie very confused, while you were trying to hide your smile. Soon enough you saw the first few specks, and then a few turned into more, until it was slowly drifting down onto the two of you, the wind catching it slightly as it blew it around, making it look even more magical.

"IS THAT?!?" Laddie asked excitedly, jumping up from his spot as he jumped up to catch the cold flakes in his hands.

"IT'S SNOWING! SANTA BROUGHT US SNOW!!" He yelled, and you couldn't help but smile and laugh along with his excitement, you had to quickly blink back the tears as he jumped around, the white flakes landing delicately in his hair and on his jacket, his face upturned as he cheered. It was such a beautiful sight, a pure joy that you rarely feel once you reach adulthood, that childlike joy when you feel like the whole world is magic, and nothing can go wrong. You wanted to capture that joy and let him bask in it forever, never having to worry about anything. It was only the sound of his voice that brought you out of your thoughts.

"I don't understand though, I thought it didn't snow here" he asked while looking over at you, shaking his head to cast off some of the still falling flakes.

"Wanna know a secret?" You asked with a smile, watching him nod.

"Have I ever told you that I'm a witch Sweetie?" You smiled, as his eyes went wide, an expression of pure shock crossing his face.

"No way! Seriously?!" He asked running up to you.

"Yup" you nodded from your sitting position.

"Awesome! I have a vampire and a witch for parents!" He cheered into the night, and you knew that Dwayne was smiling too if he heard that, both of you watching Laddie play in the snow that had gathered on the ground, before running over to you with two big handfuls and throwing it in the air above you.

"Wanna have a snowball fight?" You asked with a smile.

"Yeah!" He cheered before hugging you and pressing a quick kiss to your cheek.

"You're the best mom, I love you"

"I love you too sweetie" you smiled while hugging him back, giving him a quick kiss as well.

"Snowball fight!" He shouted before running off a bit to grab some snow, and you swore that over the sounds of Christmas music, you could hear four different laughs.

"The Seven Teens in Wish don't have much to do in the movie other than being a reference". A criticism that I both agree and disagree with. Like any other Wish criticism, this is one of the few that gets rebuffed if you watch the movie again and payed attention. While i do agree with the issue of a movie having way too many characters, of all the teens, Dahlia, Simon and Gabo are the ones who have the most prominent roles and are tied to movie's themes.

Let's start off with Gabo. While many others dislike him because he's a jerk, there's some merit as to why he's so pessimistic. While I don't like including info from supplementary material like tie-in books, they do have that extra detail that was lacking in the final movie. In A Recipe for Adventure (which will be used a lot in this post), the author speculates that Gabo is a disappointed optimist. Even though we don't have much to work with other from that piece of trivia, when can always think of something to tie him with the film's theme.

Gabo represents the disappointment in a system where few are given benefits over the majority. He always talks about Simon and Sabino's unfulfilling lives because they gave their wishes away and hoping they will be granted, suggesting that he has seen or what it's like to have an unhappy unfulfilling life. He assumes Asha applying for the role of Magnifico's apprentice so that she can have the benefits of having her and her family's wishes; "cheating" her way to get what she wants while the others are left waiting. Him being a "disappointment optimist" suggests that he had high hopes upon moving to Rosas but has seen how long the waited that his hopes are snuffed and has doubts about the system in general.

At the third act of the film, he decides to help Asha and Star free the wishes because Star reignites his hope for a positive future, one where people can live their lives happy and fulfilled.

Dahlia has the most screen time and lines of the teens, so obviously she has more character than the rest of them.

She's noticeably uses a crutch to walk. While Disney could've easily made her story about wanting to walk without her crutch, they chose not to. In Recipe for Adventure, her wish is to become the best baker in the kingdom, to which she has already achieved. She works as a kitchen staff in the castle, home of Rosas' founder and king.

This shows that she doesn't need magic to become the best baker, all she has is the effort to work for her dreams despite having a disability. This ties with the film's moral as well as a positive lesson for people with disabilities to overcome the struggles and achieve their dreams.

Also in the book, she has a grandmother who passed away and was the one who taught her about her passion for baking. Her and Asha meeting as kids and becoming close friends ties back to my previous post about Asha, mainly about her suffering from loss and that she and Dahlia supported each other going through their darkest moment.

Like Dahlia, Simon also has more character than the rest.

Simon was once an active person, loves going outdoors and horseback riding. I suggest the idea that since his wish is to become a knight for the kingdom, he had trained for the position.

After he gave away his wish once he became 18, all that passion was taken away as the once lively and active aspiring knight loses that drive and becomes a husk of what he once was.

There's a saying that Simon's sleepiness resulted from his wish taken away is reminiscent of depression, which I agree. Simon's joy and dream was to become a knight and help defend his people. When that joy was taken away and his dream unfulfilled, he feels he has no purpose.

Him ratting Asha out of his selfish desire to have his wish be finally granted may be stemmed from his desperation to get rid of the emptiness he has felt. Like how people with depression use "means" to feel that joy they craved which resulted in paying the price out of their own health; ie his mind being controlled by Magnifico and their friends and family's concerns; betraying his friends.

After Magnifico's defeat and Simon is out of his spell, he apologizes for betraying Asha, with his reasons that he "wanted to believe in Magnifico." This brings out a dark aspect of Magnifico's wish system, he takes away people's joy, making them feel desperate to beg to him that they'll do anything for him to feel that joy again.

Simon's story may be applicable to people who have achieve their dream job out of their selfish desire to achieve it, like leaving their friends and family behind in order to get it. But once said dreams have strings attached, like working for a corrupted system that only hired you until you're "replaceable", you take it all back and feel disappointed for trusting all your hopes and dreams to an unfair system.

While the rest of the teens don't have the same character put in like Dahlia, Simon and Gabo, I feel like giving them their own arcs would have cluttered an already cluttered movie.

Wish has problems, but those problems aren't fixable by adding in things like an alien love interest and an influencer couple. Wish's issues is that the creators didn't put in the extra push it needed, hence why it feels "not enough".

Andor rant (beloved)

Mentally diseased over how good today's episode of Andor was. How is this show so good? How? Luthen's monologue... The prison break... Cassian and Melshi running off together... *Sigh*

It's frustrating to me on some level, because show after show I've been complaining and wishing for "better writing". And the general mediocrity started to make me feel like maybe I was asking for too much? That maybe excellent writing is some dark arcane magic limited to indie films and titans of the industry existing in their own bubble of space, like Denis Villeneuve.

Maybe good writing would never come to Star Wars, and the shadow of it, glimpsed in Rogue One, TCW season 7 or Mandalorian season 1, would be as close as we'd ever get.

And then voila: Andor.

Andor with not only excellent writing for Star Wars, but excellent writing for any show! It's just up there. It has a ton of stuff going on, and it merges tropes like paint in a bucket. Rebellion building, spy action, politics, heist, prison break...

All without sweating, all with clarity of purpose, lean dialogue and memorable characters built on who they are and not what they look like or how dope they act.

Syril and his mom are stand outs because they're fascinating. They act their tits off, they're theatre stars and they act an all too familiar drama on the backdrop of Coruscant. Luthen's monologues are given the time to breath. His character is only shown enough to entice us and give us food for thought.

Characters listen to each other, grow from each other. It's Vel repeating Cinta's words, it's Kino repeating Cassian's...

The show also consistently flips expectations, giving us details before we think we need them. Like that one guy who wants to be made prefect and mentions it's solely an honorary position... Half an episode before someone tells a story involving one such prefect. It immediately enriches our understanding of what type of character he must have been... And then it turns out it was all a made up story? Or was it?

Us not knowing for sure is SO HUMAN. Skeen is human. He's a liar and a me-first dickhead who still sided with the good guys in the grand scheme of things, and we'll never know where the lies end and truth begins.

You rarely see shows so keen to build up a character from the ground up only to shatter them or kill them, even leaving us without a satisfying understanding of what sort of person they were.

I would never have dared to DREAM of getting a show this well written in the SW franchise, and I know it's going to ruin me forever, because every shitty, half baked, poorly written disaster a-la-Boba-Fett will be measured against Andor.

Even if the 101 fans adore such shows for all the pew-pew battles and lightsaber twirling or cameo galore, they'll forever suffer if it's obvious Disney didn't bother hire real writers and directors with vision.

Andor will forever prove they can do it, if they only bother. Every show trying to milk me will be that much more offensive and frustrating.

I love Andor, and I hate Andor. I was putting clown make up on for it when the trailers looked so good... and it just made it worthwhile. It was real. I wasn't a clown for believing in it, and at the same time it'll make me a clown in perpetuity, because there'll be the possibility the next show is on par with Andor, or gods forbid, even better.

19. What’s your favorite Halloween costume from when you were a kid? When I was maybe 3 or 4 my mom splurged and got me an Alice costume from the actual Disney Store. I LOVED that thing. And then when we went to my nana and papa’s house on Halloween my nana had made herself a White Rabbit costume. It was just cheap white sweatpants/sweatshirt, white sneakers, face paint and a clock she drew on a paper plate with magic markers, but it is one of my favorite memories.

23. Which songs do you like to sing in the shower?

I actually don’t really sing in the shower? I guess whatever song has been in my head lately.

37. Do you mind if others are in the kitchen when you’re cooking or baking? YES. I think it is largely my ADHD but I am bound to forget something or otherwise make a mess of things if someone is trying to talk to me while I’m cooking, even if they’re trying to help. My SO is banned but that is because he can’t turn off Engineer Mode and tries to “optimize” whatever I’m doing which in practice is just telling me I’m cutting the onion wrong.

Backstory

The newest student of Night Raven College, leader of the Ramshackle dorm and the young Queen of a kingdom in a strange world. (aka Earth) Somehow she was spirited away to Twisted Wonderland, now under the care of Dire Crowley she studies at the illustrious school with absolutely no magic of her own to search for a way back home. You'd think her being a queen of an entire kingdom she'd act like one but, you'd be wrong. Instead of someone who's collected and a little snooty she's humble and sweet. Caring to anyone no matter how rude they are to her, she's always willing to lend a hand no matter the task. She tries to look on the bright side and put a smile on everyone even if it's just one person. A hard worker and a caretaker. Her heart is empathetic, soft and bleeding for all living things. Of course she has flaws, overworking herself to the brink of exhaustion trying to get work done, her positivity towards others fading when faced with herself, being stupidly stubborn, and trying to be selfless to the point it turns selfish. There are others too but they lie deep...........

Who she was before coming to Wonderland is a mystery to all except for her dearest friend Louise. She was a princess, with a seemingly loving family who ruled with goodness in their hearts. But on the day of coronation her elder sister Elia vanished.....left without a trance. Melanie then took the throne out of a want to make people happy while they find her sister at the young age of 14. She worked hard, made improvements and the people loved her but....there was something that was being hidden. Locked behind a dark door that she doesn't want to open. It was a lot, but everyone was happy...and that's what mattered. Then one night Louise saw her rise from her bed and slowly walked to her mirror, he of course went after her and then...she went through the mirror. The next moment she was awake with the mouse in a coffin. Then the adventure of a lifetime began.......

Hiya! So about a year ago I posted a sort of rant and rough concept idea I had of doing my own take of Descendants and Ever After High which you can read here

Well after months of thinking, creating, scribbling and sleepless nights I finally have a what I think a good enough concept to post.

To start things off I want to clarify that this is my own personal take on descendants and Ever After High idea of Fairy Tales characters having children and following their lives and adventures, with this being my version of this concept there are many differences from that being

No relation to Disney Characters, my characters are gonna be more related to the original fairy tales than the Disney versions but there might be smol references to Disney

No Legacy thing, yeah the children here are not gonna repeat their parents story

My characters are still kids, so no teenagers in high school but more like kids who are in middle school,there will be characters who are teenagers and older but I want to focus on the hopes, dreams and fears of growing up especially during that awkward age

I think that's all the aspects in case there are more or I forgot I will mention them in future posts

In this post I am gonna present some characters with some visual guides/moodboards I did for each of them respectively

Dawn and Jour - Children of Sleeping Beauty

Fraternal twins who where once inseparable but now are somewhat estranged, both booklovers since childhood.

Dawn is an optimist, kind, fun-loving daydreamer, very feminine who loves tea parties, balls and sewing, a romantic at heart who loves making friends and the happiness of others, and she also has the magical power to see and control others dream's

Jour a realist with dreams and yearning to explore the world, and values courage and chivalry, he wants to be a traveling knight like the one in the stories and books, he likes horse riding and sword fighting, and even though he and his sister are estranged don't even dare to give a bad look to her cause his protective brother instincts take over.

Rowan - Child of The Dark Fae

The eponymous dark fae who cursed Sleeping Beauty to an eternal slumber, he is the first child to be of "villain" origin to get into the Academy so everybody expects to be this bold, manipulative, cruel, revenge thirsty individual which he is the exact opposite of, he is this timid, anxious and kind, who enjoys practicing and studying magic, being with his pet Raven Orphée and spending time with his mom, but this being his first time away from home and his mom and then being ostracized in school lets just say he is not having a grand time but things do get better.

Cerelia - Child of The Fairy Godmother

The resident queen bee/mean girl of the academy, and with her being not only the daughter of the famed Fairy Godmother who is also the headmistress of the academy she is certainly considered royalty around the school, she is selfish and has a mean streak but to her closest friends is deeply caring and loyal to them, a young lady who enjoys the pretty things in life and loves playing in her clavichord and may or may not abuse her magical powers for her own personal gain.

Anara - Child of The Frog Prince

A rambunctious young lady who adores exploring the surrounding forests and swamps of the Academy, collecting and studying the many plants in it, an active, stubborn and unruly, she is loyal to her friends, and even though her mother wants her to be a prim and proper princess to attend balls and tea parties, but she couldn't care less and just wants to go on at adventures.

Leif - Child of Snow White

A darling gentleman, who is naive, generous and gentle kid who really likes cooking and baking, cleaning and sewing which comes into conflict with his dad who wants him to be a courageous and chivalrous knight but he can't fight with a sword to save his life...literally

'Big' Jack Horner is one of several main antagonists in the movie Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. His brutal nature, warped sense of humour and lack of morals quickly turned him into a unique character for the fandom, as did his enormous, disproportionate frame and penchant for magical weaponry. Although the Wolf enjoys most of the internet's lascivious attentions, Jack Horner somehow manages to eke out quite a few admirers of his own.

Basic Information

A heartless, sadistic collector of magical artefacts, Jack used to be known as 'Little' Jack Horner from the nursery rhyme of the same name. Now a huge, intimidating adult, Jack runs a criminal empire under the guise of his inherited pie company, and uses hired guns to procure magical items for his collection, which is housed in a "trophy room" in his factory. Throughout the film, Jack seeks the fabled Wishing Star, a fallen star able to grant one wish to whoever finds it, hoping that it will make true his ultimate dream: to become the Master of All Magic, and to own and control all of the magic in the whole world, not sharing any of it.

Villain lovers, fat men enjoyers and artists alike have rejoiced at Jack's unique design, utter contempt for the notion of villainous redemption, and his generally hilarious attitude. Considered a breath of evil fresh air, you won't have to look far to find ravenous fans wanting a taste of this pie man's sweet, tasty filling.

Archetypes

4th Wall Blurring

Although it is not explicit in the film, it is widely accepted in fanon that Jack allegorically represents Disney, or at the very least large media corporations absorbing smaller properties. Jack sticks out in the narrative as explicitly not having a character arc, and instead doubling down on his awful nature when given the opportunity to justify his behaviour through his backstory. He seems quite aware of the fairy tale tropes surrounding him, but throws them away to focus on becoming more powerful.

Brick Shithouse/Tall

Jack is currently the tallest villain in the Shrek franchise - spin-offs included - and he is almost as wide as he is tall. Jack breaks the traditional Sexyman mold by being a fabulously fat man with a super long torso, gigantic hands, and comparitively tiny dancer's legs. The elegance with which he moves combined with his staggering physical size and strength are prime reasons for Jack becoming an object of lust.

Capitalist

Jack is incredibly wealthy; he lives in a mansion, owns a thriving baked goods empire, and has a large staff of loyal, trained assassins under his control (The Baker's Dozen). Likewise, he has plenty of money to hire mercenaries to hunt down his desired magical artefacts. He is even shown to own the still-functional severed hand of King Midas himself.

Chaoslord

The methods of violence Jack employs are all magical in nature, and involve a great deal of randomness and chaos. Whether it's beating up The Three Bears by golf-smacking them with Excalibur or exploding people into confetti using a crossbow loaded with unicorn horns, Jack revels in chaos and enjoys destruction and bloodshed.

Controversial

He's probably the most evil character in the entire Shrek franchise.

Criminal

Jack is a through-and-through criminal; our very first introduction to Jack even shows off his wanted poster! Using hired guns to obtain magical artefacts through a great deal of murderous activity, Jack's possessions are largely obtained by unethical or illegal practices, or are otherwise morally bankrupt by nature. This includes his collection of baby unicorn horns, which appear to have been harvested from the 'horses' that pull his carriage, his ship-in-a-bottle containing many still-living Lilliputians, the severed hand of King Midas, and a phoenix that he keeps in a birdcage and uses as an unwilling flamethrower.

Cosmic

Jack is obsessed with finding the Wishing Star: a fallen star capable of granting anyone's wish. In the climax of the film, Jack participates in an epic final battle with Puss, Kitty, Perrito, Goldie and The Three Bears, using the Wishing Star as a platform. After being defeated, he is swallowed by the collapsing star and presumably dies.

Dealmaker

Jack is shown to make deals with his hired guns in exchange for traditional payment. For instance, Jack agrees to give The Serpent Sisters their weight in gold for their finding the map to the Wishing Star, but Jack tricks them by using King Midas' hand to turn one sister into gold, thereby technically fulfilling his end of the bargain.

Distinctive Voice

Jack is voiced by John Mulaney, and his whiny, aggressive, high-pitched voice is extremely distinctive. His voice adds a great deal of humour to his character, but also provides an interesting contrast when he becomes threatening.

Dominating

Perhaps the most significant contributing factor to his Sexyman status; Jack dominates everyone around him with ease. He boasts an army of trained assassins (in particular his 'Bakers Dozen') who are all willing to lay down their lives for Jack (often doing so), as well as enduring tremendous physical and emotional pain for him. In a literal sense, Jack is huge - canonically the tallest villain in the whole Shrek franchise - with a Kingpin-like, broad-shouldered frame, a large gut, and enormous hands. Jack also interacts with the world around him in an aggressive manner: he shows little care for his coveted magical objects, swings about extremely heavy weapons with ease, and is not above shooting puppies in the face with a crossbow.

Egotistical

Jack has a very high opinion of himself and what he deserves. When Gemini Stewart (the knock-off Jiminy Cricket who judges Jack's character) attempts to prod for Jack's backstory, Jack tells him all he wants is to own all of the magic in the world, and not leave a bit for anyone else. In addition, the way Jack treats others - that is, with a complete disregard for the value of life - signifies his general egocentrism.

Hot-Headed

In no time at all, we are introduced to Jack's famously short temper. He has no tolerance for people who get in his way, and routinely becomes irate with those who work for him when they are not quick or efficient enough, or if they do not live up to his standards.

Intelligence

Jack's intelligence is of the sinister variety. He runs a criminal empire as the underside to a seemingly legitimate pie business, and is able to accrue a great deal of priceless magical artefacts whilst cheating his hired guns out of their promised pay.

Knife murder

Jack is nothing if not a blood-hungry, weapons-adept, murder-happy monster of a man, and has been praised as one of the first unapologetically homicidal villains seen in a big-budget animated movie for quite some time. Whether he's threatening to shoot Perrito, a literal puppy, in the face with a crossbow or allowing his own men to be devoured by carnivorous flowers, Jack is incredibly comfortable with murder, and even seems to take a sick pleasure in it at times.

Power

Power is the cornerstone of Jack's identity. Following his being snubbed as the central character of the Little Jack Horner nursery rhyme, Jack rebuilds his identity as 'Big' Jack Horner: a physically huge and intimidating man with an incredible amount of control, and zero conscience concerning his terrible actions. He actively hoards powerful magical artefacts for his own personal gain, and explicitly does not want anyone else to partake in the power of magic. Whilst seemingly motivated in some part by wealth according to his flashback, it is power which Jack craves the most.

Upper-Class

Jack was raised in a mansion in a wealthy family, and inherited their lucrative pie-making business. He views these things as "worthless crap."

Urban Legend Aesthetic

A little bit of a deviation, but Jack's origins within the Little Jack Horner nursery rhyme qualify him for folkloric status, which is urban legend-adjacent.

Villain

In a movie with multiple "bad guys," it has been hotly debated by the fandom as to who counts as an actual villain as opposed to an antagonist: seemingly the only thing that everyone can agree on is that Jack is indisputably a villain. He is callous, devoid of morals, quick to anger, utterly without remorse and loves causing pain and suffering. This is why Jack is being lauded as a return to form for truly bad villains - a character you love to hate.

Well-Dressed

Jack is a very well-dressed man; his ensemble includes a deep plum-coloured suit and tie replete with a waistcoat, a magnificent long coat in the same shade, and some decadently stylish black heeled boots. He is undoubtedly a Suitguy, and an extra-fashionable one at that: note the pie pattern on his waistcoat!

This is my TWST MC OC, the references shown here have some really basic information about her. There's also two versions for the measurement information cause I couldn't choose between measuring her heigh in cm or feet lol.

Polite

Doesn't take anyone's shit

"Fair enough"

Secretly knows everyone and a large majority of NRC is based off of various Disney properties and villains, but doesn't say anything to humour everyone.

Hums some of the various Disney villain songs she knows whenever something comes up that vaguely reminds her of them (e.g. Azul saying "How poor and unfortunate for you" before a fight, Aster then humming Poor Unfortunate Souls. This is my way of visualizing the say the line Bart meme in this context.)

Does want to go home, but doesn't think Crowley is genuine in his "research", so often she tries to do some research herself whenever she can while still going to classes and dealing with Grim, other dorms, and housewardens at Crowley's request.

Tries desperately to clean the Ramshackle Dorm, but is in a constant state of wonder over why the fuck there hasn't been any cleaning progress.

Genuinely enjoys the company of many of the other students within NRC (and that does include Grim, even if she seems constantly done with his shit.)

Doesn't curse because this is an obvious Disney property world to Aster, however she will say "fuck" at least once.

She has NOT gotten a good night's sleep at all since arriving to the land of Twisted Wonderland.

Is honestly kind of unsure whether or not the interactions she has with Malleus are real or dreams.

When she gets knocked out at the spelldrive tournament, that's when she was able to get the best sleep she ever got since arriving to the land. It's also around then that she truly comes to terms with and accepts the fact that she is very much not in America anymore and is not dreaming for a really, really long time.

While it's not a good night's sleep, on nights Aster meets up with Malleus, she finds herself sleeping better than the previous nights.

During Book 2, Aster was incredibly frustrated because she had an idea of who was causing the accidents based off of the context clues of the fact that Ruggie already demonstrated his signature spell earlier, but if she voiced her thoughts to her idiots they probably wouldn't take her seriously until they came to the realization too.

Likes to "annoy" the housewardens of Heartslabyul and Octavinelle

With Riddle, she'll break some (many) of those arbitrary rules that no person in the waking world would ever follow. She likes to see how frustrated he gets. Also wants to help him chill out regarding the strict enforcement of those rules. (What's he gonna do? Cut off her non-existent magic?)

Gets really good grades to make up for it though for Riddle, like she's a consistently straight A student.

With Azul, she likes to go to the Mostro Lounge and purchase the cheapest item there, and then loiters as a paying customer for WAY too long to see what happens in an attempt to spend time with the octatrio, especially Azul.

Would call Azul "baby girl" in the middle of the Mostro Lounge during busy hours, for fun.

She makes up for it by pledging an unknown day in the future to work for the Mostro Lounge, unpaid. (Aster accumulates many of these future unknown days, lol.)

Aster, Grim, Ace, and Deuce are like besties. Frequently bought together, do not separate type beat.

Tried helping Ace and Deuce with studying once (1) to prevent another Book 3 situation, is not cut out for it.

Due to her friendship with Ace and Deuce, Aster is constantly visiting Heartslabyul. As such, she chooses to spend time when not with her idiots annoying Riddle.

Doesn't spend too much time with Trey since he looks like he's usually busy himself, but sometimes she tries to get him to teach her how to bake with the agreement that she'll help him and the dorm with some of the unbirthday parties.

Cater she's glad to take selfies and photos with him. Loves his vibe, but also hopes he's okay.
