Would love some real art again, but coupled with a good story. I've gotten this about 5 times in stuff that's not fanfiction and since then any and all officially published content is just boring, honestly. I've stopped really reading for the story because the story is always the same. That's how it feels anyway. Anyway if you have any book recs please do let me know

#Here's some good stuff I read: #Rebel of the sands and the sequels by Alwyn Hamilton #They both die at the end by Adam Silvera (I need to check for his other books too sometime but its ont eh to-do list) #Dit is geen dagboek by Erna Sassen but I think that one is relatively recent and not translated to english yet sorry guys #but thats a really good one to my dutch friend #s #The dinner by Herman Koch is also a good originally dutch book and one of the few that doesn't include sex #it's translated to english and also has a movie version that does include sex #Also FMA is good enough to qualify as art #theres also this one book called hersenschimmen on my to-read list but I'm not sure if it has a translation #originally dutch though and I'm really interested in it #a rec by my dutch teacher and he has Taste #But anyway anything that's not dystopian or actually a Good dystopian thing #I'm up for reading queer stuff but only if it's not like #all about that stuff #tired of reading about real problems when the point at the end is 'it can get better' or 'this is an issue' or something like that #like bro I fucking KNOWWWWW I've been living in this society for years and its depressing let me read something good #like something that expresses that storytelling is an art and that writing is an art and not something overly depressing #or extremely predictable #like I don't mind predictable but only if it gets me invested anyway
