Rewatching 'Private Practice': "Tempting Faith" 16/113
Tumblr media
As a new segment on WhatSamWatches, I will now be doing more informal reviews/commentaries on what I’m watching. And it’ll include shows I’ll be rewatching just because I feel like it. I know I just did a review on Private Practice not that long ago but I’m not ready for it to be over. So I’m binging the show from the beginning all over again. So since I rewatched the sixth episode of season two last time, we’re now onto the seventh episode of season two of Private Practice.
Tempting Faith
Tumblr media
This all-white outfit that Addison’s wearing at the beginning of this episode is such an underrated outfit of hers, in my opinion.
But I am glad that Kevin and Addison made up.
If Addison wasn’t with Kevin, I wonder if she would’ve called the cops after seeing her door open like that.
It’s cute that Meg’s trying to quit smoking for Pete.
Meeting Archer Montgomery
Tumblr media
And here we finally meet Archer Montgomery, played by Grant Show. Which reminds me, I’ve gotta catch up on Dynasty.
Archer really is a snob. But I love the dynamic between him and Addison. Not just in this episode but also later when he comes back.
Sometimes, I forget that Archer’s also a doctor. Or used to be. It’s a little unclear because first, he’s an author who used to be a neurologist. Then, he comes back and he’s suddenly a doctor again.
Archer showing up also gives us a little more insight into Addison’s family. They never get into it on Grey’s Anatomy, but granted, Kate was only on two seasons of the show. During the divorce proceedings, she did mention her trust fund but they didn’t really elaborate on it. Later in this episode, Archer reveals Addison has a $25 million trust fund.
There’s also the first mention of Bizzy! I know she doesn’t show up on Private Practice until next season, but JoBeth Williams does a fantastic job in playing her. And in fact, I love the writing for all of Addison’s family dynamics and history.
Violet and Hal
Tumblr media
Why did they ask Violet to take the stand if she only had three sessions with Hal? It’s an odd choice for what I assume is a character witness. Or maybe she’s brought in as an expert witness, but again, it’s a weird choice.
Side note: it’s Miss Patty from Gilmore Girls!
I feel for Violet in this episode. But I also wouldn’t want a pedophile around the office. Then again, it’s court-mandated therapy so I definitely don’t blame Violet for it. Unlike Dell, apparently.
They mention Dell’s abusive past a few times on the show but I really wish they dove into it more. And it sucks that they apparently killed his character off later because they didn’t think they could use Dell in every episode. I get that he’s mostly an office manager and he’s kind of ridiculed for being a midwife. But learning more about his past would’ve been so interesting. And I think him getting killed off the show just keeps us all wondering about it. It would’ve been one thing if they just had him as a background character that said a line here and there. But they’ve brought up an abusive past and an addict for a baby mama. How is that not something they can use?

Pike: They are good people.

Pike: Kirk, are you hiding in the bathroom with a dog that you’re deathly allergic to?
Jim’s voice: No.
Archer: *nodding about Pike’s comment*

Still Counting (Addison Montgomery x Reader)
Tumblr media
Song: Still Counting by Volbeat
“Dr. Montgomery,” you greeted Addison as you approached her. Addison turned around and you could see that her jaw was clenched tightly. You looked past her at the man behind her and extended your hand towards him. “Hi, Y/n Y/l/n.”
“Archer Montgomery,” he said as if introducing himself to you wasn’t worth his time. You dropped your hand once you realized that he was not going to shake it. Addison was sort of staring at you like she wanted you to leave, but unlike her brother she didn’t want to be rude to you. “How do you know my sister?”
“Unofficial neighbors,” you said and Addison placed her hand on your back. You turned your body away from Archer slightly and when she pushed you away, you started walking. “I’ve got some more counting to do.”
“Counting? She is an odd one,” you heard Archer say to Addison. You let it go though, you already knew from what she’d told you that he was an asshole. Whenever Addison had invited you to the party, you knew that you’d hate it, so you made up a little game. You’d begun a count of everybody at the event that was an asshole for evidently no reason. Seeing as how you didn’t know anybody here except for Addison and maybe a model or two, the count was getting to be pretty high.
“Archer doesn’t like you already,” Addison said and you smirked as you turned to her. “I’m sorry for leaving you to your own devices all night.”
“It’s fine, you were going on the asshole count anyways. That doesn’t mean that I don’t love you, now you know some of these people, help me figure them out,” you said and Addison leaned against the railing a little bit as the two of you stared down at the sea of rich people.
“Did you count yourself?” Addison teased.
“Of course, who do you think got #1?” you joked. Addison moved in a bit closer to you and you kissed the corner of her mouth. “Now, let’s make up a random number because I lost count like 15 minutes before I met your brother.”

Derek might not be able to preform long surgeries anymore, but he was still able to operate. In small bursts. But he spent most of his time in the lecture hall spreading his wisdom on Neurosurgery and impossible cases. He had previously taught about the tumour that was still drawn on his bedroom wall, a piece they had transferred from Meredith’s house to the Candle House. He had taught about Jen Harmon, a case that still broke his heart to this day. About Archer Montgomery and the parasites in his brain. Each impossible case drew more students in and as the weeks went on, his classes were filled to the brim with people sitting in chairs, on the stairs, even standing. It made him feel like he was doing something good still. Something worth doing. He even spoke about his own case. That was his topic today.
“So, as you can see, these are my current brain scans. They were taken only a week ago and whilst they show vast improvement in the healing process, which I should hope so 6 years on, there is some deterioration in the hippocampus.” A sea of hands shot up. Derek chuckled to himself and leant against his desk, pointing to a student. He listened to their question and shook his head. “You’re correct. I don’t spend as much time in the OR.” He lifted his hand and clicked to the next scan of his brain. “Again, the cerebellum part of my brain, hidden behind the brain stem, was also affected. It took a lot of work to get my dexterity back. I worked with physiotherapists, my family and even Ortho. I had a few hairline fractures in my wrists and Dr Torres worked to help regain as much motion as possible so I could continue with my job.”
The questions kept coming until Derek’s timer went off. A tool he used to indicate when the hour was up, incase he forgot to check his watch. “Okay, we will pick this up next week. Don’t forget the paper due.” He turned his back, loving the sound of the excited chatter that ran through the room. It shed a good light on his accident. If he could teach people about it then he was much happier. He had assumed that everyone had left the room until he heard a voice. He continued to stack his papers. “Yes?” He commented with a smile, glancing over his shoulder but not picking up a face. “Is there a question you wanted to ask in private?” He knew some of his students were shyer than others. Some hated to speak up during his lectures.

Keep Getting Pulled Back
@mctwcsty
It was a normal day for Addison. She'd woken up, got ready for work, and headed into the practice. The secretary gave her a run down of her day and let her know her schedule before heading into their morning meeting. Practice life was very different from life as a surgeon in a hospital or chief of her own surgical department. Sometimes she missed the rush. Life always had a way of staying interesting for Addison though. Whether is was Archer nearly dying or her parents appearing on a whim. She could hardly say that life was boring.
She had just escorted one of her patients to the elevator with instructions when her attention was grabbed by someone she didn't know. "Are you Addison Forbes-Montgomery?" Addison nodded, "I am. Are you a new patient? Our office staff can help you with forms and get you set up with an appointment-" "No, that's not why I'm here at all. I - I just wanted to introduce myself." Addison stared at the woman in confusion. She had no idea who this person was, so why did they seem so nervous. "I'm Erin Flynn," her hand extended a business card for a law firm. Addison frowned, "If one of my patients had an issue-" "No, god no, I'm doing this all wrong. I'm sorry. Is there- can we? I was hoping we could talk." Addison nodded lightly, "Sure, my office is down this way." She walked down to her office and gestured for Erin to take a seat.
Addison watched the other woman glance around her office, she was confused as to why a lawyer was so invested in her decorating choices. "So, Erin, correct? What brings you down to my practice?" Erin startled for a second before taking the offered seat. "I- I was adopted as a baby. I've always been curious but when my dad died, I just felt this hole and finally got the courage to look at my adoption papers. His name wasn't on the certificate, no one's name was, but there was paperwork that named your dad-" Addison cut her off, "I'm sorry. You said you think the Captain is your father?" Of course this would happen. She couldn't exactly be surprised at that, with all his affairs. However, she was a Forbes-Montgomery. She'd been raised to be wary of people like this. "You'll need to consent to genetic testing." She watched the way the woman's face fell. "There was another name in the records My birth mom's reports. Her name was Ellis Grey." Addison started laughing. She had to or she would lose her mind. "Ellis Grey slept with the Captain. Of course she did, they did." It explained so much.
Oh god, she realized. She was going to have to tell Meredith. Damnit. Addison sobered at that thought. "I'm sorry, you'll have to forgive me. This is just- there's a lot to this. But, uhm, how do you feel about Seattle? There's more than just myself involved in your mother is Ellis Grey." "Yes, I'm aware of Meredith. I fully vetted both of you, you seemed like the better one to start with." Addison didn't quite understand what that meant. Either way, she wouldn't be dealing with any of this without Meredith. "Well, it doesn't matter who you started with. We'll have to go to Seattle and talk with Dr. Grey. This involves her too.
Over the next hour or so, Addison reworked her schedule and scheduled a flight with Erin to Seattle the next day. She didn't have the energy to let this sit in her head for more than a day. That night, her brain was overwhelmed with thoughts and worries. Captain had another kid. Of course she knew it was possible, almost probable. That didn't mean she ever wanted to look them in the eye. Even now, knowing the truth about her parents, Addison could just barely manage Bizzy's death. Throughout the night, she barely rested, leaving her exhausted for the flight that morning.
When they landed in Seattle, Addison was surprised that it was storming. She had the taxi take them to the hotel to drop their bags off, knowing this was going to take more than a day to manage. There was very little talk between herself and Erin. Addison was telling herself that it was because she didn't care about her. No matter what the tests said, she wasn't her sister. But she also knew that it was because of Meredith. Addison had come to terms with everything, moved on; hell, Derek died. And yet another thing pulled her back to Seattle, and connected her to Meredith Grey.
Addison quickly led Erin through the hospital that afternoon, refusing to get caught up in gossip. She knew her old friends would find her in time, news traveled fast. It didn't take long for her to find Meredith at the nursing station. This was her first trip back to Seattle since the funeral. After a moment, she made eye contact with Meredith and paused before walking over. She had no idea what to say to her, she doubted a 'hey, your mom slept with my dad and created this person' was going to work. Once within appropriate distance, Addison gave Meredith a tight lipped smile, "Dr. Grey," she started, "This is Erin Flynn. She says her parents are Ellis and the Captain."

Bringing Down the Duke. By Evie Dunmore. New York: Berkley, 2019.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Genre: historical romance
Part of a Series? Yes, A League of Extraordinary Women #1
Summary:  England, 1879. Annabelle Archer, the brilliant but destitute daughter of a country vicar, has earned herself a place among the first cohort of female students at the renowned University of Oxford. In return for her scholarship, she must support the rising women's suffrage movement. Her charge: recruit men of influence to champion their cause. Her target: Sebastian Devereux, the cold and calculating Duke of Montgomery who steers Britain's politics at the Queen's command. Her challenge: not to give in to the powerful attraction she can't deny for the man who opposes everything she stands for. Sebastian is appalled to find a suffragist squad has infiltrated his ducal home, but the real threat is his impossible feelings for green-eyed beauty Annabelle. He is looking for a wife of equal standing to secure the legacy he has worked so hard to rebuild, not an outspoken commoner who could never be his duchess. But he wouldn't be the greatest strategist of the Kingdom if he couldn't claim this alluring bluestocking without the promise of a ring...or could he? Locked in a battle with rising passion and a will matching her own, Annabelle will learn just what it takes to topple a duke...
***Full review under the cut.***
Content Warnings: graphic sexual content, sexism/misogyny, attempted sexual assault
Overview: I learned about this book while searching around for romances in the vein of The Suffragette Scandal. Overall, I found Bringing Down the Duke fairly fun; it features a badass heroine, a hero who doesn’t give off violent alpha male vibes, and a plot that addresses real issues like class and gender equality. I only give this book 3 stars, however, because I think the plot could have been organized better, and I think the romance gets a little frustrating after about the halfway point. Still, if you’re just starting to read romance and aren’t sure about what level of physical intimacy you’re willing to tolerate, this book might be a good starter.
Writing: Dunmore’s prose is fairly laid-back and easy to understand, so if you’re looking for a light read, this book might fit the bill for you.
I do think, however, that Dunmore could have crafted her narrative and used her prose to reinforce the theme of independence vs safety. While this theme comes up a number of times, I always felt it was an afterthought because so many things were happening in the book, and I would have liked to see Dunmore pull back and really make the whole narrative (and use language, metaphor, etc) about this conflict.
Plot: The non-romance plot of this book follows Annabelle - a bluestocking who is given a full scholarship to Oxford on the condition that she support the suffragette movement. She is allowed to go on the condition that she send her cousin 2 pounds per month to pay for a housekeeper (which he will be lacking if Annabelle goes away), and as she tries to balance school, work, and activism, she is tasked with “infiltrating” the Duke of Montgomery’s home in hopes of winning him to the suffragette cause. Of course, shenanigans ensue from there.
What I really enjoyed about this plot was the ambition. I liked reading about the class and gender barriers that Annabelle had to navigate, and I liked that her political ambitions were at odds with the Duke’s personal ones. However, such a wide range of conflicts meant that not all plot threads were explored to the degree I would have liked. It seemed like characters were pulled in a lot of different directions, and that these non-romance plots took a backseat when it was least appropriate. The Duke’s New Year’s Eve party, for example, is supposed to be this big political move for the Duke to show his commitment to the Queen and the Tories, but we never see him put things in place or pull some social strings to line everything up, and we never see the party used as a crisis point in the political plot. Instead, it passes in the space of only a few pages and is mainly used as an opportunity for Annabelle and the Duke to become intimate. I would have instead liked to see it be this moment where the plot as a whole takes a turn: maybe everything is going well until the Duke realizes his feelings for Annabelle as well as the actions of his younger brother throw the whole party (and his political ambitions) into jeopardy. In short, I felt like events could have been moved around to make them more narratively impactful, rather than everything happening at a somewhat leisurely and meandering pace.
On a related note, I didn’t feel like the plot as a whole had many elements of suspense, nor did they really build on each other. As a result, the plot seemed to lack shape; there wasn’t really a rising action, and I was never sure what characters were going to do next (which was frustrating, rather than exciting). I think this could have been improved if we had seen Annabelle take a more active role in trying to manipulate the Duke. As the book stands, Annabelle seems to simply inhabit the Duke’s house and “wins” him over by being defiant. I think I would have liked to see her try more purposeful techniques, like going through his things to try to get information on him, having more political or philosophical conversations, etc. Something to drive the suffragette narrative forward and perhaps set up a moment when Annabelle has to reveal that she’s been trying to spy on him or something.
Characters: Annabelle, our heroine, is a fun character to follow. She’s smart, hardworking, and generous with regards to her friends. I liked that she wasn’t presented as this superwoman who could do everything, but was doing her best to balance all the demands made on her. While I think all of Annabelle’s actions were believable and she was a fairly complex character, I also think Dunmore was trying to do too much with her. Not only is Annabelle trying to balance her studies and her activism while struggling with poverty, but she also has a secret from her past which must be dealt with. Personally, I found it all a little much. I think Annabelle’s past and her financial obligations to her cousin could have been cut, placing more emphasis on the pressures of staying in school or becoming destitute. The conflict for her, then, would be something like the risks that come with being an independent woman, and how her entanglement with the Duke raises new risks.
Sebastian, our hero, in interesting in that he is stoic and single-minded without being a huge jerk. He’s completely obsessed with winning back his family’s estate, and he lets that obsession compromise his political and moral beliefs (though not to the point where he’s openly hostile towards women or anything like that - more like he’s willing to support the Tory party because he has been promised the return of his estate if they win the election). I liked that much of his personal growth had to do with deciding what it was he valued more: his family’s reputation or his personal happiness and being on the right side of history.
Supporting characters were fun and enriched the narrative. Annabelle’s suffragette friends were a lovely support system, and I adored the moments when they rallied to help Annabelle in moments of trouble. Sebastian’s brother, Peregrine, was a nice foil to the Duke and I liked that he was irresponsible and impulsive without being a total rake. Jenkins, Annabelle’s professor, was also an interesting character to have in the mix, especially when he became more involved in creating points of tension towards the end, and I liked that he was bookish and eccentric without being cold and self-important.
Romance: Annabelle and Sebastian’s romance is... ok. There were things about it I liked, and things I found frustrating. I really liked their banter and that they were intellectual matches for each other. I also liked that the barrier to them being together was rooted in class and the conflict between personal desire and family obligation. I also appreciated that the romance seemed to build naturally; while physical attraction was present, it wasn’t like Sebastian saw her and popped a boner and that’s what set everything off. Their relationship developed slower and I found it much more believable than some other romances.
What I didn’t like, however, was that after about the book’s halfway point, the relationship seemed to plateau and it became a matter of Annabelle and Sebastian splitting up, chancing upon each other in public, feelings erupt, then they do something intimate and split up again. I would have much rather have had something like a clean break at the 3/4 mark in the book: the two realize they can’t be together in the way they want, so Annabelle leaves and focuses on her activism/studies. During that time, things happen that challenge Sebastian’s commitment to his family legacy, but he doesn’t go seek Annabelle out. Maybe Annabelle instead gets an offer that would make her more financially stable (or more secure in her place at Oxford), so then she can go back to Sebastian, etc etc (I’m thinking about how the class barrier is handled in Jane Eyre here, if you can’t tell). It would have gotten rid of the annoying miscommunication incident towards the end, and instead would have forced some more meaningful development and not a “will they or won’t they” string of events.
TL;DR: Bringing Down the Duke is a bit of a narrative mess, but nevertheless fun and entertaining. With likeable characters, a believable romance, and meaningful themes, I would recommend this book for those just starting out in romance or to those who want romances written with contemporary readers (and sensibilities) in mind.

Start Again: An Addek Fanfic Chapter 9
Chapter 9 of my #addek fic, Start Again, is now up on my blog where our favorite brother, Archer, comes for a surprise visit.
Notes: This is a fanfiction based on characters from the TV shows, Grey’s Anatomy, and Private Practice. This rewrites parts of the second season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. But this fanfiction tells an alternate story of what happens after Derek and Meredith have sex in the exam room at Seattle Grace hospital. Instead, it asks the question: What if Derek and Addison didn’t end things after Derek…

Where the Heart Is (Teddy Altman x Reader)
Tumblr media
The look on Mark’s face when he saw you in the hospital brought actual joy to your being. It wasn’t a look of happiness or pride, but shock and fear. The only person who looked even more fearful of you was Derek, which made sense to you. Mark had slept with your sister and ruined her marriage to Derek, but Derek was the man that your sister had divorced. Besides, you hadn’t necessarily been a big fan of either man when you’d met them.
“I’m looking for Dr. Hunt,” you said to both men as you looked over your patient chart. “Are you two going to stand there and stare at me or point me in the direction I need to be in?”
“H-he’s in the ER,” Mark said and you smiled at him as you left. “Baby Montgomery is a doctor?”
“Apparently she is,” Derek said as he watched you leave. “And she got a job here, with us.”
“Got her away from Archer I suppose,” Mark said, knowing that if there was one person in the world you detested, it was your big brother.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Owen, do you have any hands to spare?” You turned in the direction of the question, knowing that you’d probably be the one “spared” for help. You were capable and there wasn’t a lot that you were really helping Dr. Hunt with. When your eyes reached their target, you were taken aback a bit.
“Of course, Y/n, why don’t you go help Dr. Altman. I’ll page you if an emergency surgery comes up,” Dr. Hunt said and you nodded. You walked over to the beautiful doctor and the two of you walked through the ER to the elevator.
“I’m Dr. Altman, but you can call me Teddy,” she introduced herself. You shook her hand, surprised slightly by the firm shake.
“Y/n Montgomery,” you told her. “This hospital is amazing. Even though Owen swore it’s normally more hectic, there’s so much to do.”
“I’m glad you like it. How are you with cardio?” Teddy asked you.
“It isn’t my specialty, but I scrubbed in on a lot of different surgeries back in New York. Tons of people with tons of different problems,” you said and Teddy nodded.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You walked out of your surgery that day absolutely exhausted. It was supposed to be a 40 minute surgery, but ended up taking nearly seven hours. Teddy kept it interesting though, talking to you and telling stories about different surgeries she’d done during her time in the war. You thought that they were interesting and it was amazing the things that could be done with minimal supplies.
“You look exhausted,” Mark said and you nodded. “Well, look alive because there’s about to be a very angry Addison Montgomery on her way here.”
“What the hell did you do?” you asked Mark. Before he could answer, you Addison stormed out of an OR and stopped immediately when she saw you. “Addie, good evening. When did you get in?”
“This morning,” Addison answered. “How about you?”
“Last night from New York. I’m doing my residency here,” you told her proudly. “Guess what.”
“What?” Addison asked, her mood improving a bit from your excitement.
“I scrubbed in on a seven hour cardio surgery,” you told her and Addison let you go on about it for a bit. Eventually, you let her go. She was in a much better mood and Mark told you that he owed you a million.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I don’t understand why I’m not even being considered for this,” Yang said to Owen. “I mean, she was letting me do surgeries on my own and now she’s pawning me off.”
“Teddy just wants to give other people a chance too Cristina,” Owen said and you moved in to pick up a chart for his service. “Actually Y/n, you are with Teddy this week. You must have really impressed the other day.”
“Oh, um, alright then,” you said with a small smile. Your heart beat a little faster as you went to find Teddy. The two of you did rounds together and then went to the first surgery of the day.
“Do you have a specialty picked out yet?” Teddy asked you.
“Not really. I mostly did general surgeries back in New York,” you told her.
“I think you should consider cardio,” Teddy told you. “I’d be happy to give you any advice or special help you need.”
“Cardio seems like Cristina’s thing and I don’t want to overstep.”
“Well, excuse the pun, but I think your heart is really in this,” Teddy told you.
“I’ll, uh, give it a shot then,” you agreed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
True to her word, Teddy offered you extra lessons. The two of you had some catching up to do. She learned things she’d missed out on when she was overseas and you learned the things that you just hadn’t picked up because you didn’t have a specialty. It was months of late nights in the hospital spent together, getting better and you fell in love with cardio.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Teddy asked as you started walking to the on-call room.
“Going to get some sleep before my shift starts in four hours,” you said and Teddy pulled you in the opposite direction. “I really should be rested.”
“And you should also be fed,” Teddy told you. “Come on, you aced the new stitching, so I’m buying.”
“My need for sleep overtakes my want to make you bankrupt for keeping me up all night,” you said, yawning.
“Then we’ll go somewhere fast and I’ll buy you coffee before rounds,” Teddy promised you. You fell asleep in the car, but Teddy managed to get something close to your normal order. The two of you had started eating lunch together, so she knew that you liked chicken sandwiches and that you’d hated mayo and only liked the leaf lettuce. When she woke you up, the two of you were in the hospital parking lot.
“You know, Hunt is an idiot,” you said and Teddy paused. “He’s hung up on Cristina. Yang is brilliant, and maybe it’s the fact that she hates me, but she’s prickly and has a tendency to be overly and prematurely judgmental. You’re not though, you give people chances and you take your time. If I was Owen, I wouldn’t have to think twice.”
“Are you saying that you like me?” Teddy asked you. You thought on it for a moment and then nodded.
“Maybe this is the sleep deprivation, but yes I am. You may look like one of the girls that wouldn’t have given me a second look in high school or college, but you don’t act like them,” you told her and Teddy smiled at you. “It’s a shame you’re hung up on Owen though.”
“Maybe I’m not anymore,” Teddy said and you didn’t understand what she was saying until you felt her lips pressed against your cheek. You turned and just sort of blinked. “Maybe I should get you inside.”
“Too far,” you said as you reclined the seat all the way back. “Wake me up when it’s time to go in?”
“Of course,” Teddy told you. You fell asleep and Teddy woke you up so the two of you could get coffee 15 minutes before your shifts started. After your coffee and a breakfast sandwich at Teddy’s insistence, you changed into clean scrubs and put your hair up into a ponytail.
“Morning Dr. Hunt,” you greeted Owen as you passed him in the hallway. He had come from where Yang and Teddy were talking. They were still talking to each other, but when you approached, Yang left. You were sort of glad because it made kissing Teddy a lot less awkward. “Good morning Dr. Altman.”
“Good morning to you too Dr. Montgomery,” Teddy said and you wrapped your arms around her waist. “We should get started on rounds.”
“5 more minutes,” you told her and she let you leaned against her until your shifts officially started. When you’d arrived at Seattle Grace, you hadn’t known what you wanted to do, but now you knew that you were a cardio girl. You knew that because cardio was where your heart was.

STUDY  : Rosalie Adelaide Forbes-Montgomery (typical forbes-montgomery and living with addison verse)
Tumblr media
—    basics.
▸     is    your    muse   tall   /    short   /    average
▸     are    they    okay    with    their    height ?  Yeah
▸     what’s    their    hair    like ? Rosalie has dirty blonde hair.
▸     do    they    spend    a    lot    of    time    on    their    hair     /    grooming ? Rosalie was raised with Bizzy in her ear for a lot of her life. She was taught at a young age that the image she portrayed to the world was everything. She could never be caught off her game when it came to the outfits she wears unless she wanted to face the wrath of her...Bizzy.
▸     does   your   muse   care   about   their   appearance   /   what    others    think ?  Even if she didn’t care about what she looked like, Rosalie didn’t have a chance to decide to not care. She was taught at to always be the best and in order to be the best, she had to look the best at all times.
—    preferences.
▸    indoors    or    outdoors ?   outdoors ▸     rain    or    sunshine ?   rain ▸     forest    or    beach ?   beach ▸    precious    metals    or    gems ?   precious metals ▸     flowers    or    perfumes ?   perfumes ▸     personality    or    appearance ?   appearance ▸     being    alone    or    being    in    a    crowd ?   being alone ▸     order    or    anarchy ?   order ▸     painful    truths    or    white    lies ?   white lies ▸    science    or    magic ?   science ▸     peace    or    conflict ?   conflict ▸     night    or    day ?   night ▸     dusk    or    dawn ?   dusk ▸     warmth    or    cold ?   cold ▸     many   acquaintances    or    a    few    close    friends ?   many acquaintences ▸     reading    or    playing    a    game ?   playing a game
—    questionnaire.
▸     what    are    some    of    your    muse’s    bad    habits ? Any time that Bizzy was particularly harsh with her, Rosalie has a few things that help her feel better. The estate had easy access to alcohol and she was taught early how to mix a perfect cocktail. It’s a recipe for disaster.
▸    has    your    muse    lost    anyone    close    to    them ?    how    has    it    affected    them ? In order to lose someone close, she’d have to allow people to become close to her. The estate wasn’t exactly the place to be forming close connections and boarding school, she learned, was all just about what she could give people to get what she needed.
▸     what    are    some    fond    memories    your    muse    has ? When she was younger, the Captain would take her sailing. She loved being on the water. She did enjoy her riding lessons and any time that Addison would let her visit.
▸     is    it    easy    for    your    muse    to    kill ? She’s had dreams a few times of smothering Bizzy with a pillow, but she’d never be able to go through with it.
▸     what’s    it    like    when    your    muse    breaks    down ? Rosalie doesn’t have the opportunity to break down. She becomes numb and tries to drown out anything that she might be feeling. Usually that’s calling a few of her acquaintances and seeing where the party’s at so she can get drunk and do things she should probably eventually regret.
▸     is    your    muse    capable    of    trusting    someone    with    their    life ? Nope. Rosalie has been on her own with the nannies since she could remember. Bizzy’s cold way of keeping her in line, Archer’s absence, and the Captain’s infidelity makes it pretty hard for her to believe that anyone genuinely cares what happens to her.
▸     what’s    your    muse    like    when    they’re    in    love ? Rosalie doesn’t believe in love. She doesn’t think she’s capable of it and she believes she’s too broken to be worth loving. Rosalie feels like every relationship she’s ever witnessed is more like a business agreement than a mutually beneficial arrangement where someone would genuinely want to be around her.
