Heyo, how's it going? I saw that you're doing The Monkey King (2023) x reader and was wondering if you could do this request.
Picture this
Monkey King and Reader (who is also immortal) obviously have an attraction towards each other, but unknown to either of them, the Dragon King also is pining for the Reader and desires for her to be his queen. So, when Lin "betrays" Monkey and sees that the Dragon King is forcing Reader to be his queen, we both know how upset he'll get and he'll do whatever it takes to get her back. When he does, he vows that when his imprisonment is finished, if she'll allow it, he'll ask her marry him.
I hope it's not too much to ask, but this seems like it'll be interesting. Have a good day/night!

I love this idea!
Thank you so much for being so patient btw, I just needed to procrastinate for a while to get my mojo back
You’re only a handful of centuries old, but you’ve made a good impression on the population of China as a powerful and just being
And you met the stone monkey during his time battling demons when he was nearly overwhelmed but you provided backup
The two of you gradually became good friends (despite his arrogant attitude)
It seemed that Monkey was missing the little voice that was supposed to tell him to quit while he was ahead, so you acted as that voice
Most of the time, he listened
And you found his rambunctious attitude weirdly charming
Sure he could be a bit of a shmuck at times, but he was nice enough to you (you got special treatment since he saw you as an equal (he’s also lowkey a simp for you))
After a while, his fondness for you gradually became not-so-platonic
And you can each tell you’re into each other (neither of you are great at hiding it) but neither of you have really made the first move
Monkey’s reasoning being that he wasn’t sure if he’s good enough for you (although he wouldn’t say that out loud)
However, unbeknownst to either of you, the Dragon King had his eyes on you and had every intention of making you his queen as he conquers the world
So when Lin gave away Monkey’s staff and gave DK the necessary power to get his greedy claws on you, he was furious
Knowing that someone else had affections for you was one thing, but no one disrespects you like that and gets away with it
after being trapped beneath Five Phases Mountain, he felt sorry and disappointed
he was glad that the Dragon King couldn’t have you, but now, neither could he :( and that broke his heart
then you visited the mountain with Lin to see him one last time, and it was very bittersweet
despite his imprisonment, he was glad you were safe now, and told you that once he gets out, if you’ll have him, he would like to be the one to to marry you
before Buddha could close the mountain, he took your hand in his, kissing it and telling you he loved you
Five hundred years was a long time, but luckily, you were patient (and immortal)

Legends of the humanoids
Reptilian humanoids (3)
Dragon King – the god of water and dragons in Chinese mythology
Many dragons appear in Chinese folklore, of which the Dragon King is the leader. Also known as the Dragon God, the Dragon King is a prominent figure in Chinese art and religion. He is adopted by both Taoism and Buddhism and is the ruler of all water. Known as Long Wang in China, he has both human and dragon forms and can switch between dragon and human forms. Despite his intimidating and ferocious nature, Long Wan is regarded as a benevolent deity who brings good luck and chi energy to people living near the sea.
The Dragon King is a Chinese water and weather god. He is regarded as the dispenser of rain, commanding over all bodies of water. He is the collective personification of the ancient concept of the lóng in Chinese culture.
In East Asian cultures, dragons are most often shown as large, colorful snakelike creatures. While the dragons sometimes have qualities of a turtle or fish, they are most likely seen as enormous serpents.
While some named dragons are associated with specific colors, the dragon king can be shown in any shade. Like other Chinese dragons, he has a “horse-like” head, sharp horns and claws, and a hair-like beard.
Like many weather gods around the world, Long Wang was known for his fierce temper. It was said that he was so ferocious and uncontrollable that only the Jade Emperor, the supreme deity in Chinese Taoism, could command him. His human form reflects this ferocity. He is shown as a noble warrior in elaborate bright red robes. He usually has a fierce expression and poses with a sword.
During the Tang dynasty, the Dragon King was also associated with the worship of landowners and was seen as a guardian deity to protect homes and subdue tombs. Buddhist rain-making rituals were learnt in Tang dynasty China. The concept was introduced to Japan with esoteric Buddhism and was also practised as a ritual of the Yin-Yang path (Onmyōdō) in the Heian period.

// SPOILERS FOR THE NEW MONKEY KING MOVIE //
I love monkey king attitude, like that's such a him thing he's so accurate,
"argh! Buddha speaks in riddles! No one understands him." The jade emperor was so real for this
the dragon wing of the west sea was so fruity for what
"I have a challenge of you, great sage.."
"not interested! ..what it is." I LOVE THIS MOVIE.
also despite the timeline being kinda messy on how things went, everything is in order. Him becoming king, becoming immortal, havoc in heaven, Buddha's challenge and trapping sun wukong under the mountain and journey to the west
Also idk why they made the dragon king evil, because I personally don't remember the guy wanting to dominate the world with the staff but I don't mind, that was fun!!
And Buddha is so wise, calm and friendly I love it (I know he's supposed to be like that, but it's fun to see it.)
the movie was so fun!! Wukong's so accurate but also real silly and fun. my favorite guy.
ALSO WUKONG'S IMMENSE LOVE FOR HIS STAFF AJSPDPS he destroyed like three gods because they took away his stick.
AND THE SCROLL AND SEALS THE MOUNTAIN. UUUHUHHHUUGHUHHJ
"And monkey? I'm sure he'll be out in no time.. 500 YEARS LATER."
AND TRIPITAKA LAMOAOAPAPAPPA he unleashed the horrors, canon
THE HEAVY METAL Y'ALL 😭😭
Now that I realized, the moment Tripitaka finds wukong, lin is probably dead.

While I am on the topic of Netflix's Monkey King, I have two thoughts about the character of The Dragon King.
WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD!
Thought 1: I was a bit dubious of making the Dragon King the main antagonist of the story, since in the original novel, Ao Guang isn't actually an antagonist, but rather a reluctant ally to Sun Wukong. This Dragon King does work as this strange mix of a watery Hades (Disney) and a male Ursula, but I was wondering about the choices behind it (don't get me wrong, I love water and sea-themed villains, I am just curious as of the adapting process). But having watched the movie now, I realize that this is actually another homage to Chinese culture - just not to the Journey to the West per se.
Netflix's Dragon King is ACTUALLY based on the character of the Dragon King from the animated movie "Nezha Conquers the Dragon King". You know, the late 70s Chinese animated movie? This movie was one of the big reasons people believe that, in "The Investiture of the Gods" novel, Ao Guang was a vicious being of chaos - when in fact he was not. It was in this movie that the Dragon King was depicted as a destructive antagonist all about causing storms and water-based disasters, and it also from there that the whole "The Dragon King eats children" comes from (the same "eat children" joke that the Netflix movie uses). Plus, the color palette or the new Dragon King and Nezha's Dragon King are also very similar, so the homage is pretty clear.
Thought 2: I am dumb sometimes - it took me a long time to understand why the Dragon King's final kaiju-like form looked like a bloated Godzilla. At first I thought they were just making a fat Godzilla joke or recreating the "giant Ursula" feel from the Little Mermaid final. Then I noticed that each time he was hit by the Monkey King, water flew out of his body, but I thought it was just some cool special effect. It was only when his body started twisting itself that I finally understood the joke: that the Dragon King had turned itself into a giant water balloon.
Which actually fills one of the eventual plot-holes there could have been. Indeed, it is shown that in this universe only the Immortals can become giants (Monkey King only gains the ability to grow in size when becoming fully Immortal), and yet the Dragon King is clearly not one of the Immortals given the way he talks about them. So how could he grow giant? Well here's the answer: he "cheated", he rather gorged himself with sea water like a giant sponge. It is basically the fable of "The Frog that wanted to grow as big as a Bull". Plus, of course, there is the obvious metaphor and image of the Dragon King growing as big and bloated as his own ego. Which in turns serves as a "mirror" for the Monkey King, because while he grows even bigger than the Dragon King, it is also the moment where Monkey snaps and becomes a madman (well, a mad monkey), his ego having grown even bigger than the one of the Dragon King.

The Original Location of the Ruyi Jingu Bang Has an Actual Geologic Site!
In a delightful coincidence given that we just finished Chapter 3 of Xiyouji for this book club, I happened to stumble across the fact that there is an area in the world which local people--in particular fishermen--believe to be the spot where Sun Wukong found (and stole) his golden cudgel. This is the Dragon Hole, the world’s deepest underwater sinkhole at just over 980 ft, located on a reef in the South China Sea. Blue holes are sinkholes that form through erosional processes in blocks of limestone while the limestone is on dry land and before the holes are flooded by sea-level rise.
Long called the “eye” of the South China Sea by locals, viewed from above the Dragon Hole looks dark blue due to its great depth compared to the light blue of the water on top of the reef.
I’ve included a few photos below as well as a link to an article detailing more about this amazing piece of planet Earth’s features. It’s always a wonderful thing when mythology and geology combine!
