Drake having to describe the sexual abuse he suffered in excruciating detail at 15-years-old only for the guy to get simply 16 months (!!!) in jail and be on Disney Channel right afterwards
That's why most victims feel discourage about coming forward

Listening to Drake Bells father, Joe, talk about how he just got bad vibes from Brian Peck and knew he was bad and was eyeing up his son just has me fucked up. Him saying he hasn’t been same since he found out what had happened to his son and him just breaking down into tears.
Drake not knowing how to explain or talk about what really happened in front of cameras. There was a moment there, where you can see alot of emotion is on his face, like he just is coming to reality that he is actually telling other people what happened.

fucking weird of yall to demand these child actors to speak up publicly about everything that happened on those sets. not a God damn one of them owes us anything and does not need to say anything. Leave Josh alone. He spoke to Drake in private. he was also a damn kid on those sets. I've heard about the bullying and fat shaming he had. literally leave them alone fucking weirdos
and while I'm at it LEAVE AMANDA ALONE TOO

Quiet on Set really hit hard. As someone who grew up watching these shows religiously, and being so familiar with these kids, it's absolutely devastating to see how much abuse went unchecked. Drake Bell's story is incredibly harrowing and I applaud him for having the courage to finally speak publicly after all these years. Who knows how many more might come forward because of this, or at the very least how many people affected with similar experiences may feel a little less alone.
As I saw someone say, it really feels like Dan Schneider subconsciously traumatized an entire generation of kids by exposing them to so much implied sexual innuendo in his shows. It's clear he got off on not just being able to put child performers in these morally dubious positions, but also by exposing the audience to such fare. It's deeply disturbing to see these "jokes" Now as an adult, and I personally feel super conflicted about it.
I hope change comes from this documentary, aside from the existential dread I presume many people my age might feel after watching.

Not a dream
Drake Bell is a victim and an abuser himself
Your heart can hurt for him but it should also hurt for his victims
The abuse he suffered is very real, and so is the hurt he himself caused

It’s honestly crazy how so many of them still have jobs in Hollywood
If anyone hasn’t watched the documentary yet it’s called “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” and it’s streaming on Max

You know something? After watching quiet on set I don’t mind freaking 20 something year olds playing teen roles on screen bc holy shit.
TW:SA (not really mentioned on this rant but it’s surrounding the topic)
Grown ass people taking advantage of m*nors is so disgusting, I feel disgusted for even liking these shows growing up, specially now that I know the truth. This is insane.
And some of the PARENTS. Gosh, YOURE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE FRIENDS WITH YOUR CHILDREN. BE A PARENT. You’re their guide/mentor, you’re suppose to protect them from the bad and evil, even if you think they might resent or hate you for it, or hell! Even if this kills their career. BUT they will understand when they grow older. They’ll be thankful. And when they’re older y’all can be as best friends as you want, but when they’re young and naive (sorry for the lack of better word) you have to be the adult in that situation and protect them. It’s not a popularity contest, it’s a take better care of your kids type of contest.

you know. it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth when people bring up the allegations against drake bell when talking about his abuse. it feels like “yeah this very bad thing happened to you, but you did this” ????
it’s like. you see this man disassociate at the thought of what happened to him. it being so horrible he can’t even say it. 11 charges against brian peck for what he did to drake ALONE, including but not limited to sodomy, forcible penetration with a foreign object, using anesthesia, and even filming it…like knowing all if this you still go “he also perpetrated abuse”
idk. i just feel like you can say that you feel horrible for what he went through and talk about that without bringing up his allegations. like imagine he’s sitting in front of you recounting the horrific shit he went through, and then you say back “yes that’s awful, but you did this”
idk how to explain it but it just feels wrong

So I watched "Quite on Set"
I keep hearing "Drake Bell was abused, but he's also an abuser" like these are remotely comparable offenses.
TW: sexual assault, child abuse
Not to minimize the psychological harm done to that girl, I'm sure receiving explicit messages from an adult at 15 was emotionally traumatic and violating. But when Drake was 15, Brian Peck took over his life, estranged him from his father, followed him across the country. He was stalked, raped, and tortured by a John Wayne Gacy fan with economic power over him. That's not just upsetting, that's an actual living hell.
And the only person in the industry there for him was Dan Schneider??? Of course he came out of that with a fucked up sense of what adult men can say to teenage girls. Therapy is where you unlearn that shit and he didn't talk to anyone for 20 years. How could he? He told the police what happened to him in gruesome detail, and Brian served 16 months before going back to work at Disney. Between that and all the support at the hearing, he must have felt there was no point in talking about it because no one cared.
Not to mention how easy it is to distance yourself from what you're saying and who you're talking to over text. Mix that with some dissociation and substance abuse, the cognitive dissonance wouldn't be hard to maintain. It was bad, but it doesn't make him beyond redemption. He's clearly trying to be better.
What I'm saying is cut Drake Bell some fucking slack, okay?

Shame on that female production assistant for gaslighting that Drake actor's dad into thinking his concerns about hebephilic behaviors are inborn homophobia.

Look we can acknowledge the fact that the people who wrote letters in support of Brian Peck were not filled in on the situation and were misled by Brian on what the charges were and such, but can we fucking acknowledge that one of those letter writers actually victim blamed the then 15 Year Old Drake Bell with acting like he tempted Brian who would never do such things unless well, tempted.

seeing people victim blame Drake Bell and accuse him of attention seeking for speaking about his CSA on a documentary that is about all the Nickelodeon kids that were abused is making my skin crawl. I understand that he perpetuated the cycle of abuse, I do, but that does not erase the fact he's a victim too. His entire life got derailed and he went down the path he did and its inexcusable and horrible but it does. not. change. the fact he's a victim too and likely this grooming and abuse is what led him down the path it did
