Damien Bloodmarch/M! Reader
summary:
“Dad! Are you dead?!”
Is the first thing I hear when I open my eyes. I yawn and stretch my arms, propping myself up on my forearms to look around. I see my daughter, Amanda, in the far corner of my room. She seems to be touching around my vanity. I see her pull a few things from my drawers.
“Hey! Are you stealing my rings?”
I stumble out of bed in my drowsy state and I nearly fall flat on my face. I pick myself up and walk over to Amanda. She puts her hands up in defense as I approach her.
“Knew that’d get you out of bed. Freshen up, pops, let’s go to the mall.”
I never knew I’d get bossed around by my own kid until now. Or even allow it to happen, but I do. I comply with Manda’s demands and I get myself ready for the day.
I meet up with Amanda in my car and we begin driving. The scenery of Maple Bay was breathtakingly beautiful. It was much better than the loud city I had came from. I look over to Amanda who was texting rapidly on her phone. I rustle her hair a bit.
“So, whaddya think of the new neighborhood?”
“Dad, we’ve only been here a day.”
“Well..yeah, but we haven’t fully explored.”
“For good reason, you were totally winded when we got all the stuff in the house.”
“I am not as young as I used to be.”
I chuckle, looking back at the road occasionally to reaffirm that I’m not about to crash.
“You have any friends yet?” I tease.
“Do you?”
She counters with a smug expression. I raised her well.
“Of course I do there’s uhm..”
Shit.
What was that guy’s name? Christian dude. Creepy twins. Hottie Mclovely. He brought a plate of cookies the other day..
“Justin..?”
She erupts with laughter and I sulk in my seat. My face reddens, knowing I completely butchered it.
“Wasn’t his name Joseph?”
“Yeah I obviously knew that I was..I was testing you, to see how well you know our neighbors. Congrats, you passed.”
I pull into the parking lot of the mall. Amanda runs out of the car as if she’d been kidnapped and makes a beeline for the entrance. I jog over to her in a desperate attempt to catch up. I meet her by a pretzel stand and I heave, putting my hands on my knees to catch my breath.
“Where..where do ya wanna go, Manda Panda?”
I gasp for air dramatically in an attempt to embarrass Amanda. She only laughs at my behavior.
“You already know, pops.”
We walk over to Dead, Goth, and Beyond. I haven’t been in one of these stores since I was 16. Although when I walk in, it’s less loud and dark as it was a few years ago.
Amanda runs off into the t-shirt section before I could get a word in. I’m sure she can manage on her own. I awkwardly walk around, not sure where to go first.
I end up in the mug section and look at funny-looking cups alike. I browse a little more to gawk at the cheesy text. A certain mug catches my eye and not for the sake of comedic purpose. I see a beautiful ornate tea set. The careful floral details were magnificent. I step closer and I reach for it.
I feel the cold tea cup underneath my fingers, along with a warm sensation atop my hand. I look carefully and there’s a pale hand directly on mine. My eyes travel to the owner of the arm and I see a tall man standing beside me, probably reaching for the set as well. I step back for a moment, looking flustered.
“My apologies. I assume you were interested in this tea set as well?”
The man expresses politely.
“Yeah, I was..”
I trail off. God, why is this so awkward.
“Hmm..I see. Would you mind if I take it? It would look great alongside my collection.”
My head perks up at this. Come on, let’s be civil.
“Oh. I uh..sorry, but no? I was actually interested in this specific tea set. I mean, I haven’t got much..porcelain myself.”
I awkwardly explain, trying to stand my ground.
His eyes narrow at this as if he expected me to give it up instantly.
“Really now?” He hums. He looks like he’s holding back some words.
“Really.” I shift awkwardly in place.
“If you’re so interested in this piece, it should be safe to ask you what time period the detailing was inspired of, correct?” He asks, stepping closer to me.
I wasn’t prepared for trivia today. I rack my brain, thinking of any time period I learned in history class.
“..The..Baroque period..?” I answer hesitantly.
He smirks in a pretentious manner.
“Good guess. By the floral arrangements and color combinations, it’s most likely this work was inspired by the Victorian era in England.” He says, taking the tea set from my hands.
“Hey—“ I begin, but he retreats to the cash register before I can finish my sentence.
I sigh in defeat and walk around to find Amanda.
~~~~~~~~~~
Amanda finishes her mall-run and we drive back to our home. I pull into our driveway after a few minutes of driving, with Amanda blasting My Chemical Romance the entire way back.
I step out of the car and give Amanda the keys to the house. I walk over to the mailboxes in front of the cul-de-sac, where everyone had to go to access their mail. I fumble through my pockets to find the key to my mailbox.
I eventually find it and I reach to open my mailbox. Until I feel a hand on mine.
Please no.
I hesitantly look up and see the same man from the mall.
This day is going well. Totally.
I clear my throat and step back, keeping my eyes glued to the floor.
“Fancy seeing you here.”
He greets
“Probably. I just moved here, actually.”
I chuckle nervously.
He looks at me and moves his head with my eyes, trying to meet my gaze. He grabs my hand lightly which catches my attention, causing me to make eye contact with him. I blush slightly.
“Look, I would like to apologize for my behavior at the mall earlier. It was un-gentlemanly for me to grab the tea set from you and run off.”
He seems sincere, so I smile and nod my head.
“It’s alright, don’t worry about it. You definitely deserve the tea set, I’m genuinely impressed by your knowledge on the subject.”
He smiles and his eyes light up, as if he had an idea.
“If you’d like, I’d be glad to have you over some time for tea? As a greeting to this neighborhood, of course.”
My eyes widen, but I’m grateful nonetheless.
“Oh. Yes, I would love to. Thanks for the invite..?”
I trail off, suggesting I’d want his name.
“Damien, Bloodmarch.”
“Right, Damien. I’ll find you later?”
“I look forward to it.”
We shake hands and I walk back to my house. I shut the door behind me and smile brightly like a teenage girl.
“Ooo~ Someone’s got a date?”
Amanda gawks while leaning against the windowsill.
“Were you spying on me?”
I put my hands on my hips, trying to act serious.
“Nuh uh. But aren’t you forgetting something, pops?”
I think for a moment and I fall silent.
“Amanda, are you making a joke? What could I be forgetting?”
“The mail.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HI THANK YOU FOR READING THIS ! I might write another part to detail the “date” but only if it’s demanded of me 😭
I apologize if there’s any grammatical errors, I don’t proofread my work which is a bad habit of mine, I don’t suggest picking it up— Expect to see a shit ton of DDADDS content on my page, I just got back into the game which is unfortunate..in a way.
