easy non-alcoholic mixed drinks
not something that we usually post, but thought it might be nice for the times when you want something slightly fancier than a pre-packaged drink, but don’t want to put in too much effort or drink alcohol. the instructions for all of the following “recipes” are to simply mix the ingredients together in a tall glass.
passion fruit + grapefruit twist:
12 oz. grapefruit sparkling water
1/3 cup passion fruit juice cocktail
pomegranate berry “sangria”:
12 oz. cranberry, mixed-berry, or cherry sparkling water
1/3 cup pomegranate juice
optional: 2 tbs. cranberry juice
optional: 1 tbs. grenadine syrup
optional, but recommended if using unsweetened juice(s): sugar to taste
cranberry lime:
12 oz. lime sparkling water
1/3 cup cranberry juice
optional, but recommended if using unsweetened juice(s): sugar to taste
optional: half a small lime’s worth of fresh juice
optional: a slice of fresh lime as garnish for the rim
summer sunrise:
6 oz. plain sparkling water or tonic water
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup pomegranate juice
optional: 2 tbs. grenadine syrup

Super random but I tried a new drink today! I made my own version of the iced London Fog. I love having a nice drink to have for studying and today this was definitely it!
I didn’t make the cold foam in the original recipe, but I did have a salted caramel cold foam so I used that. It was definitely still suuuuper good. It was definitely a nice new study drink for this evening.
I was still pretty productive today as well!
I had a tutoring session today that went very well
Went to the grocery store and found a sale on Pringles (chips are one of my favorite study snacks)
Got a pitcher for my iced coffee (I like to make the night before it so it’s easier in the morning)
Did all my English homework (including getting through like 6 chapters of Dracula and if you know anything about that book…whew)
Got through my French homework and Honors homework in about an hour
Had time to do a full shower with shaving and hair washing + did a face mask and properly moisturized
Listening to the audiobooks of textbooks I struggle to get through has definitely been a help to me this week. 10/10 recommend. I do it when I need to do other things like chores, other written homework, but also need to read for a couple hours.
(the recipe isn’t mine, found on Pinterest @ https://pin.it/5LlIRAbaV)

Tequila Sunset
-Recipe:
(Servings size - 3)
1 tsp London Dry Gin
1 tsp Bacardi Gold
1 tsp Bacardi Superior
1 tsp Tsantali Ouzo
1 tsp Don Puerto Rico Rum
1 tsp Skyy Citrus Infused Vodka
1 tsp Romano Sambuca Classico
1 tsp Arrow Creme De Cacao
1 tsp Triple Sec (Orange)
1 tsp Blue Curacao
1 tsp Peach Schnapps
1 tsp Absolut Kurant
1 tsp St. Elder Elderflower Liqueur
1 tsp Campari Bitter
1 tsp 99 Whipped (Whipped Cream Liqueur)
1 tsp Tito's Vodka
1 tsp Vermouth
1 TBSP Grenadine
1 TBSP Zapopan Tequila Blanco
1 TBSP Blue Agave Gold Tequila
1 TBSP Kirkland Silver Tequila
1 Shot of Malibu
4oz. Coca Cola
-Directions:
1. First, get a 12oz glass. You can get a larger glass, or even a mug, but thats around the size of the drink.
2. Measure all of your alcohol into the cup, if you don't feel like measuring, you can eyeball it, the first 17 alcohols + the grenadine will add up to about 3.5oz to 4.0oz. If you pour more than that, I'd recommend you balance the ratio between these and the Coke. But if you like a more alcohol-heavy drink, don't even bother!
3. Pour the Grenadine, Coke, and the rum.
4. Add some ice. Ideally, you'll have a large square ice cube because it doesn't melt as fast, but if not, just throw a handful of ice in.
5. Enjoy!
-Notes:
If you only have one type of tequila, you can just add the equivalent amount of one type.
I wouldn't recommend skimping on the variety - the full mixture has an indescribably unique flavor.
Recommended to drink this with cheap cigarettes and years of regret.
For optimal experience, drink through a bendy straw, silly straw, or a broken pen.

Yellow Goblin Tonic
We've all been there, snivelling and coughing, as hoarse as a goblin. This is my go-to cure for minor ailments like colds and coughs, which I drink at least twice a day when I'm feeling under the weather. This isn't the most delicious recipe I've written, but it's bound to give your immune system a kick!  Down the hatch!
You will need:
2 cups water
Juice of 4 big lemons
200g ginger root, peeled and chopped into chunks
1/2 cup honey or brown sugar
3 tsp turmeric powder (or 1 small turmeric root, peeled and chopped)
2 tsp cayenne powder
2 tsp ginseng syrup (optional)
Method:
Bring the water to a boil and add all your ingredients except for the honey. Boil on full heat for 3-5 minutes before bringing down to low heat.
Leave to simmer uncovered to reduce for 10-15 minutes, stirring periodically. If the mixture begins to dry out, top up with water.
Continue to simmer after the first top up and reduce until you are left with about one cup of concentrated liquid. It should be bright yellow and very potent!
Remove from the heat and strain the liquid into a bottle or jar. Add the honey and stir through thoroughly. Best served as concentrated shots, but also good when diluted slightly with half a cup of warm water per shot.

The Best Hot Spiced Cider recipe you’ll ever try
I would drink this every day if I could. A friend gave me the base recipe and I have tailored it over the years into my own version. This is the way I enjoy it but feel free to make modifications of your own!
Ingredients:
1 gallon unfiltered apple juice/cider (if it doesn’t specifically say “unfiltered, it’s fine so long as it’s pure juice and doesn’t have any kind of additives)
1 large orange, cut into thin slices
3 cinnamon sticks
2-3 star anise (I use 2 big ones or 3 smaller ones)
3/4 tablespoon whole cloves
1 tablespoon whole allspice
1 inch ginger root, sliced
1 whole nutmeg
Materials:
Large stove pot, or a crock pot
Optional: Cheesecloth (large enough to bundle the the orange slices and cinnamon sticks up in)
Optional: Spice ball or large tea ball (I use the one pictured below)
Tumblr media
Directions:
Place the apple juice into the pot/crock pot. If you’re using a cheesecloth, you can bundle the orange slices and cinnamon sticks up into it (like a bindle bag or drawstring bag) so that they aren’t free-floating in the entire container. If you are not using a cheesecloth, free-floating them is fine! Either way, add all the slices/sticks to the juice.
Put everything else (spices, ginger, etc) into the spice ball or tea ball and then place it in the pot as well. If you don’t have something like a spice ball, you can free-float them too (it just makes it a little trickier to clean up when you’re done).
If you are using a stovetop: Bring the mixture to a boil, then immediately reduce to a simmer and cover for 2-3 hours (the longer it simmers the more spiced it will get).
If you are using a crockpot: Put it on High Heat (or a similar setting) for 2-3 hours and then just let it stay warm (mine has a Keep Warm setting) for the duration that you plan to drink it.
Remove the fruit and spices when the mixture is done simmering and serve!
Tumblr media
Pro tip: For serving, I recommend using a ladle that has a lip, like the one shown below. It makes spillage a lot less likely!

ENJOY!
