It was a dreary afternoon. The clouds hung low, threatening to spill any second. A deep rumble echoed off the buildings, as a light flash shone through the gray. The storm was rolling in, but with it brought an unexpected energy in the air.
You were walking down the streets of the city, eyeing the sky. You were still five minutes away from your destination, and were praying silently you’d make it in time before the rain drenched the streets.
Suddenly, a low growl sounded behind you, causing you to stop dead in your tracks. Turning, you came face to face with a creature you had never seen before. Eyes wide, you froze, staring at the blue and gold creature, its muscles flexing as it stood, breathing heavy. It almost looked mechanical, yet made of tissue at the same time. Easily, it was the scariest being you had ever seen.
Stumbling backwards, you tripped over the curb, landing flat on your ass. You were trembling, fear overtaking you as the creature moved closer and closer.
A shot of golden light flew from the sky, right into the creature sending it flying through the air. A man followed the golden beam, responsible for it penetrating through the air. You were about to scream, but a wave of calm washed over you.
You turned your head, coming face to face with a man. He had a golden haze around him, and his hand was outstretched towards you.
“It’s okay,” his voice was deep, and thick with an accent you didn’t recognize. He sounded distant, as if you were underwater and he was above the surface, shouting. A buzz humming through your head made it difficult to hear the commotion going on around you.
As if emerging from water, the second you placed your hand in his, his voice became clear and the haze dissipated, until it only glowed behind him. He had dark, ocean blue eyes that peered quizzically at you.
“What’s your name?” He asked, his voice gentle yet gruff.
“y/n,” you responded softly. His eyes flickered with golden specks, and a sense of peace flooded your mind once more.
You knew it was him, from the second his powers touched your thoughts. He didn’t hide that it was him, something compelling him to let you trust him fully.
In a blink, his powers were gone, leaving a warm fuzzy feeling over your memories. He smiled slightly, as he looked at you in a different light.
“y/n. I like the sound of that. I’m Druig,” he said.
The golden haze faded around him, and you were consciously aware of the world again. You turned around, still holding onto his hand as you looked for the creature.
“It’s gone now, you don’t have to worry.” He said, knowing instantly what you were searching for.
“Druig!” You heard a voice say in the distance. It belonged to a pretty tall woman, with long dark hair. She radiated with a sweet, feminine energy, as she held herself gently.
He nodded his head to her- a silent communication passing between the two of them. Somehow you knew. He had to go.
But you didn’t want to let go, and he knew that too.
“I’ll be back.” He had said, placing a soft kiss to your hand before he let go.
You watched as he walked with grace over to the dark-haired woman. There was something about the two of them, and the one flying in the air earlier, that felt… ethereal to you; as if they were gods. You shook your head, laughing quietly at the idea.
“You know what we have to do…” Sersi whispered to Druig as he approached her. She had a solemn look on her face. She too hated this just as much as he did.
“I know,” Druig sighed. He hated that Arishem had tasked them with this new part of their mission: testing any human who came in contact with the Deviants. Arishem wanted reports from Ajak on how the humans responded, but none of the eternals were sure why- Ajak never said.
“I know, I hate it too,” Sersi said, feeling Druig’s uneasiness. He looked at her with a sad smile, and turned back around to face you. You were right where he left you, stuck in the daze he left you in. Something about you was different. He felt so guilty for having control of your mind right now. It made him nauseous.
Nonetheless, he stood tall, his hands placed behind his back as he walked up to you. You greeted him with a bright, naive smile. Poor thing, he thought to himself, as he offered you a gentle smile.
“Come with me,” he whispered, extending his hand to reach yours. You took it, grateful for the kindness of this man.
A golden light flashed before your eyes, your head instantly feeling woozy as if you were traveling at a high speed through space. A warm air hit you with a force, knocking you back- or at least that’s what it felt like. You couldn’t see a damn thing. Is this what blacking out felt like? You had briefly thought to yourself, before you fell forward into Druigs' open arms.
“There’s nothing here,” A woman’s voice said. It was deep, the hint of an accent lingering. She had tan skin, and long black hair.
“I told you. There is no point in doing all of this still.” The voice was Druigs. He was frustrated, his tone giving him away.
“Guys…” Sersi said, her eyes darting to where you laid, your eyes beginning to flutter open. An oxygen mask was placed over your mouth and nose, helping you breathe better. There was a bright exam light over you, and you laid on a hard surface. You shifted, and a ruffling of paper gave away it was a doctor table set up.
Your head was pounding, and the light began to get brighter as your head throbbed. A pained moan escaped your lips, growing as intense as the metaphorical knife in your skull.
The next second you were screaming, the sound muffled slightly by the oxygen mask. You tried to move, to take the damned thing off, only to discover you were strapped down on the exam table. Panic began to kick in, as you thrashed about.
Druig stood next to the table, grimacing as he watched you writhe in a pain he could easily take away. His hand reached out against his command, willing to help.
“Druig, no.” Ikaris said sternly.
“You’re not the one in charge.” Druig snapped back, daggers in his eyes as he stared at the eternal he hated the most. If he could kill Ikaris- which he could in an instant if Ajak allowed it, he would in a heartbeat.
“Well someone has to be!” Ikaris shouted, looking amongst the group. Ajak glared at him, as he blatantly undermined her.
“Ikaris that’s enough. Druig, you do what you have to do. Ease her pain, but don’t mess with her mind. We still need it.”
Druig glared at her now, but reached his hand out to grip yours. He let his power flow through him into you, easing the nerves in your body to feel nothing. He watched as your body thrashed, only to settle a few minutes later. The fear didn’t leave your eyes though, making his heart break.
He didn’t want this. He didn’t care if Arishem ordered it or not, it was utter bullshit. Everyone knew exactly how he felt, some sharing the same sentiment like Sersi and Makkari- who was currently hiding, unable to witness the torture.
Ajak was currently meddling more in your mind, searching for any trace of the Deviant in you. Druig could feel her power pulsating next to his, making him hot with anger. Sersi glanced over at him as he twitched, knowing he was about 2 seconds away from breaking.
“Ajak, perhaps there’s another way,” Sersi started, trying desperately to mend the situation. Ajak only continued, humming softly to herself. Druig rolled his neck. He could only stand the feel of her power next to his for so long.
If Druig loved anything it was control- and no one could really blame him. His entire power was focused around it, controlling himself, the voices, the minds of others. The feeling and knowledge of not being in control took a toll on him.
“Ajak…,” Sersi warned, a hint of pleading in her voice.
“There, I’m done. She’s all clear. Druig, you know what to do now,” Ajak pulled back, the emptiness of her power a relief against Druig’s. A collective sigh was heard in the room, but Druig was still hot with anger. He knew what came next- erasing your memories. Which meant erasing that you met him.
Something selfish awoke in him, as he looked down at your figure. Your eyes were now closed, as he pulled you into a deep sleep. He didn’t want you to wake up and no longer know him. He wanted to know you, and to show you that he wasn’t terrifying, that he wasn’t to be feared the way you feared him moments ago.
Druig only nodded his head toward Ajak, as a plan began to emerge in his head.
Moonlight bathed the Domo, its light illuminating the inside of the ship, casting long shadows along the walls and hallways. Druig had slipped out of his room, clad in his armor. He moved as silently as he could to where they held the subjects. It was a smaller room at the back of the ship. Due to its size, Ajak had the good sense to only take one to two subjects at a time- especially considering barely any humans actually had contact with the Deviants.
His eyes grazed upon your sleeping body, the rise and fall of your breaths the only evidence of your slumber from behind. Druig let his power flow through the room, golden streams of lights latching themselves into your mind, a soft lullaby playing to keep you asleep as he lifted you into his arms off the cot.
This was his plan- to escape with you to wherever your heart desired to go. He just hoped you didn’t hate him once you came to. His eyes fell to your closed ones as he slithered through the halls to the ships transport area. Anticipating a smooth exit, Druig became a little too careless with his steps as he grew closer and closer to the end of the hall.
It was only the soft breaths of Ikaris that stilled Druig’s steps, making him weary of rounding the final corner. He swore under his breath, calculating his next move. He most certainly couldn’t fight holding your body, and the floor was not an ideal place to rest you… however, he didn’t want to have to escape back through the Domo to gather you again after he defeated Ikaris.
“I know you’re there Druig,” Ikaris’s disembodied voice sounded from the room. Druig sighed, shifting your body in his arms as he laid you gently against the entrance of the transport room, before walking into where Ikarris stood.
“To what do I owe the pleasure,” Druig asked, sneering as he took in Ikaris in his full armor sood before him.
“If you think I don’t know what you are up to, then you are dumber than I thought.” Ikaris was careful with his words- careful in the sense that he wanted to rile Druig, just not too much that would call attention.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Where is she?” The question was curt, and loud as Ikaris held Druig’s gaze. He was determined to protect you from the madman Ikaris had become of late. He was unrecognizable as he stood before Druig now, his eyes bloodthirsty, twitching.
Druig took two steps closer, coming mere inches from Ikaris’ face. His eyes grew hazy with red as his anger overtook him. Ikaris flinched ever so slightly, knowing none of them knew the true limit of Druig’s power, as he always held back.
None of them knew of the dark swirling thoughts he kept at bay, encouraging him to do dark and devious things. Baiting him with every snide look and every snarky comment made by his teammates- Ikaris specifically were the voices’ favorite to tempt Druig with.
And now, he was contemplating giving in.
“Don’t make me ask again,” Ikaris sneered. After a pause he continued with an unmatched ferocity, “where is the girl?”.
“I thought you weren’t asking again.” A smirked danced across Druigs face, but was soon wiped from his lips as Ikaris’s fist came in contact with his jaw.
Now he had done it.
The floodgates opened in Druig’s mind, the voices spilling out into the air as dark spiraling shadows, captivating Ikaris’ attention. Druig’s eyes were golden, clearly in command of the disembodied voices, hanging low in the air as they slithered towards Ikaris. He buckled at the sound, crawling backwards as he tried to escape.
“Wha-” Ikaris was cut off as the shadows entered his gaping mouth, filling his head with the dark thoughts that once plagued Druigs. When the last of the shadows had filled Ikaris’s head, he stood, his eyes reflecting the gold in Druigs.
“Go back into your chambers. Do not wake until dawn, and speak nothing of what happened to the girl or to me.” The command was simple, but effective, as Ikaris nodded curtly. He turned, walking militantly back to his chambers deep in the Domo.
By now, you had awakened at the sounds of the shadows. You were peering out gently behind the wall, staring fearfully at the man who now stood solemn in the room.
He caught your attention and his face softened instantly as he saw you sulk back behind the wall.
“Do not be afraid,” Druig whispered, moving gently to the doorway. “It’s still me.”
You moved forward just an inch, to peer back at the man you had once had such an intense attachment too. That bond was still there, pulling you towards him, the specks of gold in his eyes were alluring.
Standing, you walked slowly towards him, as he held his arms out.
“Wha- what is happening?” You asked, your voice hoarse from being unconscious for so long.
“I am rescuing you.” Druig said simply, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
You reached your hand out to gently touch his, tracing the lines along his hands.
“What did you do to that man?”
“I did what I had to to ensure your safety. And I would do it over and over again if it meant you were safe and out of harm's way.”
“But… why?” You were perplexed by these sentiments. This man before you was a god, and you were just… well, you.
“Because I will never let another soul so much as look at you the wrong way, without ensuring they will be met with endless mental torment.” His fingers grazed your chin, making you meet his eye.
“We can run away, start a new village, and rule over them together- if that is what you wish. Or, we can return to the city, back to your life as it was before.”
You paused, trying to recall memories of a past life, where you were apparently from.
“I don’t think I remember what my life was like before,” you admitted. Anger flickered in his eyes as he knew Ikaris had some part in this. He caressed your chin, up to your cheek, before tracing your lips with the gentle tips of his fingers.
“Then we’ll run until we find a place where you feel the safest and the happiest.”
You only nodded, taking his hand, and following him blindly into this new world.
Luscious green leaves filled the landscape, the dark brown of the tree stumps a mere accent to the canopies that were so full, there was not a hint of sky shining through them. The forest bed was soft, still in the quiet. The atmosphere was still as well, a low blue-gray fog rolling in from the lake that lay just up ahead.
Brown lodges sat amongst the trees, carved out of the very same wood. Villagers sat in and around the lodges, many of them chatting about what was to come of their day, scouring down the breakfast their loved ones made for them. The hum of chatter was the only sound among the stillness.
Druig sat at the head of the table in his lodge, sucking on a strawberry. You were at his side, enjoying the breakfast he had made for you. It consisted of all your favorite fruits and nuts, all hand picked by him.
For many who ruled over villages, it was the man who was doted on by his partner. But not here. No, here, you were the ruler, and Druig was merely your loyal lover, kneeling beside you always. He was submissive in every way to you, but dominant to those in the village, becoming something they feared. No one could deny his love and affection for you though.
“Do you have any plans today, love?” You asked him, reaching gently for his hand. He turned his attention to you, shaking his head.
“I wondered if you wanted to head down to the lake with me today. It’s so hot out, I figured it would be nice to take a swim.”
“Like, right now?” He asked, setting down the strawberry he had.
“Uh,” you paused to think about it, but Druig smiled devilishly as he shot out of his chair. You eyed him suspiciously, before he threw your chair back, gripped your waist, and slung you over his shoulder. You shrieked, hitting his back as he took off out of the lodge.
Giggles echoed off the trees as you gave in, letting him carry you down to the shoreline. His own laughter could be heard, spreading a smile to the villagers faces. They couldn’t help but smile watching as their rulers ran off into the morning light.
“Druig! I’m going to fall!” You shouted, gripping his shoulders tightly as he tripped over a stone.
“I got ya’,” he called out, his hands only becoming firmer on your hips, sending a wave of pleasure through your body. You could already feel the crescent moon marks from his nails make its way past the thin fabric of our dress.
You heard the splash of water before you felt the water being submerged over your body, as Druig ran into the lake. His hands didn’t let go of you entirely, as you slipped from his shoulder into the murky darkness of the waters below. It was refreshing, the cold water lapping at your skin as you broke the surface.
“That was mean!” You shouted, but grateful for the plunge, as you now felt more awake. Druig only smirked as he lowered himself fully in the water, coming mere inches from your face.
“Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?” He whispered, pulling you even closer to him.
“Only every day,” you giggled. His lips found yours, moving gently against yours. The kiss was passionate, hungry, as if he had not just finished eating breakfast minutes ago.
The warmth of the sunlight hit your face as it broke over the horizon, causing Druig to pull back. He turned his attention to the daybreak, watching in awe as the sun bathed the lake and the forest beyond in its morning glory.
“You know, a long time ago, I used to think love was a lot like the color red. Passionate, and fiery to the point where it burns,” Druig rambled, turning back to face you. “But I couldn’t have been more wrong.”
“What is love then?” You ask, eager to hear how his mind works, constantly comparing one thing to another.
“It is warm and refreshing. Bright and glorious.” He paused, contemplating. You waited patiently.
“It’s daylight.”

FLUFF BINGO
Tumblr media
Druig’s mind lulled, in and out unsure if it’s desiring to awaken or not. The warmth orange of the sun creaking in through the cracks, inviting and adding a field of relaxation to the air. It was well to assume that Druig was enjoying his nap.
He was.
The only thing that was keeping him from his apparent nap was the comfortable sound of giggling decorated in your voice. Druig didn’t mind, he was only taking a nap but it was a little odd considering how whatever you were doing was making you crack up so much.
Curiosity taking the best of him, his blue eyes opened adjusting to the light in search of the cause for his awakening. Head turning to his other side he saw you, sitting on the edge of the bed, hand covering your mouth in what he can assume to be an effort in containing the sounds that were emitting from your mouth.
“What are you giggling on about over there?”
You swear your heart felt like it leaped out of your chest at his sudden voice that caught you off guard.
After a moment of quick recollection you answered him, smile wiping from your face, “nothing.”
“Didn’t seem like nothing?” He said, voice remaining monotone.
“Trust me it’s nothing.”
“Why don’t I believe you?” He asked, turning onto his side and sliding up into a seated lounge position. Druig drags his body close, “what’s on the phone?”
“Noth—“
Before you can even finish the thought, the phone’s already in his hand. Clicking he finds what you were looking at. “Is this…a picture of me?” He asked, staring at the picture you took mere minutes ago of the eternal sleeping, unflattering expression on his face.
“Um…no…? Okay yes, but you looked so funny.”
Druig scrolls some more stopping over one album and you’ve realized he’s seen…it. “You have a whole album titled silly photos of Druig?”
“Sometimes I just look at it to make myself laugh,” you explain, voice soft to lighten the mood.
He stares at you for a moment in utter betrayal and disbelief before his finger clicks against the screen again, “that’s it, deleted.”
“What? No, they’re too funny!” You shout springing for the phone successfully obtaining it.
“Fine, keep the album. But be warned, now that I know your little secret it’s time I start a collection of my own,” he said, smirk tugging on his lips.
Oh what did you just start.

"Monkey business" - Druig x Reader
[TW: catcalling, physical fight, soft dark Druig vibes?]
Tumblr media
🫀REQUESTS ARE OPEN🫀
SUMMARY: Druig gets protective when a bold man foolishly decides to step over a line. Who knew he could actually be intimidating?
WORDCOUNT: ~ 1.3k
A/N: is mob!Druig a thing? Because it makes me feel a little silly tbh
Tumblr media
Druig was capable of controlling the minds of not only others but also himself - always collected, if a little cocky. As far as you knew, there was nothing that could make him lose his composure. So as it always is with human certainty, fate does its best to break it.
As one might have expected, it was you who convinced Druig to take a few days off, let the commune run on its own and for the two of you to truly have time for each other. To some extent, you had reasonable suspicions that he agreed to the little getaway just to make you stop pestering him about it. Or it just took him a little while to realize how much you needed to spend some time exclusively with him. And that's how you ended up strolling through the streets of Dublin, admiring a reality much different from yours. For the first time in your life, having spent so long in the Amazonian rainforest, the chill wind felt good brushing against your face.
Maybe he wasn't going to admit it to you, at least not in public, but if a getaway meant he got to see you dressed in a mini skirt and a tube top, Druig was willing to go for little trips with you a lot more often.
You were sipping on a green tea and peach bubble tea, a drink you swore by, and guiding him in the direction of some old church you wanted to see. Druig found it amusing that you would call early medieval architecture "old" right in his face.
"You're not old, love," you would say. "You're mature, vintage, like fine wine. Classy and timeless like all the other best things in the world."
The promenade was filled with people, each person moving on with their mundane, little life. Druig was enjoying that moment of anonymity, the lack of interest or expectations directed at either of you. He felt physically lighter when an entire community of people wasn't relying on him day by day.
Relative anonymity, to be exact. Yes, to his utmost displeasure you were garnering some attention and not of the innocent, curious type. He was used to staying back, quietly and closely watching as events unfolded to calmly decide the best approach, so Druig quickly noticed each gliding stare that stuck to you a little longer than he thought was acceptable. But he wasn't too surprised by that, not in the slightest - people were always interested in you, although you seldom noticed just how many did.
An unbearable, restless feeling sat in his stomach as he noticed a group of men clearly preoccupied with watching you, occasionally whispering something to one another. Dressed in faux gold and knock-off designer goods, they almost looked presentable. Their dark gaze followed each of your movements like vultures circling a dying prey, waiting for the right moment to strike. He knew that look, knew what thoughts hid behind it - mainly because once he wore it too, before that fateful day when he kissed you against a tree.
Considering the alarmed gut feeling he couldn't shake off, Druig might as well have been gifted with the ability to look into the future:
"I've got something else you can suck on!"
Druig felt your fingers squeeze his hand but, otherwise, you seemed unmoved by the unsavoury comment. Almost as if it wasn't the first time. He may have been beyond angry at the disgusting comment but the notion that it wasn't the first time, that someone had the guts to be so disrespectful to you, made him blindly furious.
"Hey, fopdoodle, that's no way to talk about a lady!" Druig yelled back. "Apologize."
"Gettin' pissy 'bout a joke? Where's ya humour, lad?" The man and his knockoff-wearing friends cackled.
"Right by the respect for women. Two things you seem to lack."
"Wanna fight me, little man?" the man asked while opening his arms - the universal invitation to a brawl. His friends were standing still as if their only role in that carry-on was to create an artificial mob.
But Druig refused to fight as a principle. Unless it was absolutely necessary, he wasn't going to raise a weapon. When the matter regarded you, however, he could never quite stick to his resolution but that quirk transpired into every aspect of his life: he waited for you to fall asleep first, you ate first and he shared his thoughts only after you've said whatever was gnawing at your mind. It seemed as if all of his care and attention was devoted to you and he had simply no more left to spend on himself.
Maybe it sounded horrible to some degree but you weren't worried for Druig, even if the men he was standing up to were physically bigger than him. He was this immortal, space demi-god, how could a mediocre mortal ever equal him in any way, shape or form? Besides, being capable of mind control meant that he could, quite obviously, omit a fight altogether should he want to.
"I don't have to."
"Oi, you're just chicken shit. Hey, pretty lady." The man's attention was once again on you. Druig shifted his body to cover you more and you couldn't be entirely sure whether it was conscious. 'Scared' was the last thing he was. "I'll treat you better than that chicken shit."
"Come on, Druig." You paid no attention to the taunting. "Let's just go."
He looked at you for a moment. Druig's face seemed to soften for a second when he noticed the resignation in your eyes. Then he squinted and took a ragged breath.
The situation took a dramatic turn in the blink of an eye:
Suddenly, one of the man's accomplices held his arms behind him while the other began landing sucker punches to his abdomen and chest. Druig was just standing there, his hands behind his back and you didn't need anything else to know that it was his doing. Although you weren't fond of him committing violence, you knew better than to start a fight about that - he was just one of those people who did whatever they set their mind to. The first time he needlessly escalated a situation like that, you were left completely baffled, never expecting such a collected man to have it in him. As time went by and you got to know Druig better, you realized it wasn't that there was some restless malice sitting deep in his viscera. The fact was that he cared, more than you were capable of imagining, maybe even more than he was letting himself feel. Perhaps there was a moment when the amount of affection and worry he had for you was simply overwhelming and he knew no other way to express it; like his body was experiencing such gut-wrenching sorrow or love that it turned to violence to hopefully get rid of the source of those unbearable sensations.
After a good few minutes of relentless punching, the man was basically hanging on his arms that were still tightly held by his, now zombie-like, friend. With a chilling calmness in his step, Druig approached the panting, groaning man. He leaned down to the man's face, their noses nearly touching. The audacious guy moved his face away from Druig in fear.
"Where's ya humour, lad?" Druig asked with mockery spilling out of each spoken word. He was staring at the frightened face of the once too-bold man, basking in his pathetic desperation. "Don't you dare talk to her like that," he whispered to the man. He patted the guy's cheek condescendingly before walking away.
Druig's arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you close to him. His warm hand ghosted over your hip. You felt his lips place a long kiss on your head before he spoke:
"So where were we going?"

Druig X Reader ~ Never Leave Again
A/N: i watched eternals for the first time the other day (forever ago and i took forever to post this😂) and i instantly fell in love with druig. this isn’t great but it’s the first idea i thought of and i wanted to write it. hope you enjoy <3 (female reader)
Warnings: none :)
Summary: After many years apart, you set out to reunite with your love, Druig.
Words: 971
Tumblr media
(not my gif)
The air was quiet and still around you. The jungle was the quietest it had been since you'd been out there. You didn't hear the buzzing of flies or the chirping of birds. It was strange, but you didn't think about it for too long, instead moving on to think about how you were nearing your destination.
You walked for a few more minutes before you began to smell smoke. In the distance, through the trees, you could see the black plume rising into the sky. You felt a nervousness building behind your ribs with every step you took closer. You tried to shake the feeling away, assuring yourself that everything would be fine, and there was no reason to be nervous. You tried to swallow the feelings that were rising up to the back of your throat as you reached the entrance of the village.
It was bigger than you were expecting. People were turning to eye you suspiciously as you walked slowly along the path through the village. You watched the people that watched you, trying to find a familiar face amongst them. You weren't having much luck, and there were enough buildings to have you searching for hours.
You stopped and turned to a woman that was looking at you. "Excuse me... Do you know where Druig is?" you asked her. She suddenly stood up straight and her eyes began to glow a familiar gold. "Hello Y/N" her voice spoke, but you knew it wasn't actually that woman that was using her own voice. You shook your head with a small smile.
You turned when you heard a door open loudly behind you. You turned to see Druig walking out of a building and towards you with a smirk on his face. "My beautiful, beautiful Y/N. I was wondering how long it'd take you to visit me" he said as he walked up to you, stopping only a few feet away. You felt all the nervousness and anxiety fade away at the sound of his voice. His playful tone was comforting to hear after all those years apart, and your heart raced at the compliment he always loved to give you.
"I could never stay away from you forever" you mirrored his tone as you took a step closer. "I would hope not" he teased as he took a step closer. Now you were merely a foot apart. He was so close yet so far away. There were so many things you wanted to say to each either, but neither of you can utter a word.
Druig took a final slow step, stopping only inches away. He leaned in and you began to lean in to meet him in the middle. You almost whined in annoyance when he stopped, his lips an inch away from yours. You could feel his warm breath on your lips as you stared up into his dazzling blue eyes. The air thickened around you and it almost felt like it was choking you.
At first you're not sure what he's waiting for, then you heard a small voice in your head. Can I kiss you, my love? You barely processed his question before you leaned in and smashed your lips against his, throwing your arms around his neck to pull him as close to you as possible. You can kiss me forever. You pushed the thought into his mind as your lips moved in synch. You felt him smile into the kiss at your message.
You pulled away after a few more moments, resting your forehead against Druig's as your eyes fluttered closed. "I've missed that" you whispered to him, and he laughed. "Me too" he paused for a moment. "I've missed you" he whispered, causing you to open your eyes. You smile as you get lost in his ocean blue eyes. "I've missed you too" you whispered back.
You pulled away to look at the huge smile on his face. You were sure this was the happiest you had seen him in centuries. Tell me what's on your mind, pretty girl. Druig always knew when you had something on your mind, even without his mind reading. He could read you like an open book, but he hated reading your mind without your permission, which is why he always tried to persuade you to tell him what you were thinking about. He had mastered the art of being able to sweet talk you into telling him almost anything.
“I want to stay here... with you" you said quickly. "If you'll have me?" you added after a few seconds of silence. "You're the only one I ever want to have" Druig leaned in and connected your lips again, in a softer kiss this time. He did his best to show how much he loved, appreciated, and cared for you through the kiss. He held his arms around you middle, pulling your body flush against his.
He pulled away, panting slightly. "You can only stay on one condition..." he tried his best to be serious, but you could see the faint smirk pulling at the corner of his lips. "And what's that?" you asked, humoring him. "You can never leave again" the playful bite to his words faded a bit, and was replaced with a more serious undertone.
You looked up at him with a loving smile. You reached up and held his face, rubbing your thumb across his cheek softly. He leaned into your touch, sighing happily. "I'll never leave again" you agreed quietly.
"You're sure?" you had never been more sure about anything in your entire existence. You nodded. "There's no one else I'd rather spend the rest of eternity with" Druig smiled widely at your words before leaning in and kissing your lips quickly.
"I love you, my beautiful Y/N" you felt your cheeks heat up at his words. "I love you too, my darling Druig"

Druig and 23. carrying the other one in their arms
cocoa! i'm so sorry this took so long!!
Tumblr media
"Dru!" You squealed as Druig picked you up bridal style, carrying you down the hallway to your shared bedroom.
"Hmm?" His hum was laced with a snicker, knowing that the action was unexpected for you. His hands were somehow gentle as they carried your weight. He used his foot to kick the door open slightly, turning to carry you through.
Druig laid you out on the bed, sliding between your legs. Druig had been texting you all day, going on and on about how much he missed you and needed you at home. This was not what you thought he meant. From the moment you walked in the door he was on you, kissing at any and all exposed skin.
Druig's lips found their way to your neck, sucking and nipping at the exposed skin. He started going lower and lower, pushing your shirt up into your armpits. The soft skin of his lips attached to your sternum. They slowly inched down your midsection, then lingered on the waist line of your pants. You propped yourself up on your elbows, locking eyes with Druig's icy ones.
"What's gotten into you?"
"I need you."

Could i pleaseeee ask for 17 from prompt list B for Druig? The man always has food on him and I just know he'd always make sure to save the last thing for you 🤧
Druig x Reader
prompt: Saving the last piece of their favorite candy for them
wc:412
a/n: thank you for requesting anon! ahhh food and druig ugh my beloveds ♡ poorly edited♡
Tumblr media
Out of all the features that Kingo had on his jet, the fully stocked candy bar was byfar Druig's favorite. He had his eye on the tall clear jar with colorful clustered candies filled to the top. "Want one?" Druig asked as he plopped down next to you, holding out his candy-filled palm.
One bite, and you were as obsessed as he was, "I missed candies like this," you hummed as you closed your eyes and your hed falling back onto the headrest. Druig smiled from beside you and shoved the rest of the candies into his mouth.
He loved the long plane ride so that the two of you could rate the candies he had. Druig sat on the counter with a small notebook, a pen tucked behind his ear. You were on the other side of the bar surrounded by the candies. "I give this one a four," you sighed as you slid the jar of chcolate across the counter.
"It was at least a six, m'lady," he smirked as he ate one of the other ones.
"None of them are as good at those," you sighed longingly, shifting your gaze to the now half empty container. Druig hopped off the counter and picked up the jar, tucking it under his arm and walking back to his seat.
"He can buy more," he muttered. You laughed and quickly took your seat, stealing a few from his hand.
Soon enough, you had fallen asleep with your head on his shoulder. Druig lovingly rubbed the outside of your thigh, but his eyes were staring at the jar on the table. One singular candy was sitting in the center as if it was taunting him. His moth watered, itching for one final taste of the candy.
Without disturbing your slumber, he reached forwars and slid his singers inside the jar. Gripping the candy in between his ponter and middle finer, he slowly raised it from its confinments.
It was only cenemeters from his lips when you stirred awake, letting out a soft hum as you stretched. One eye openeed, instantly looking at the empty jar. "Is there any left?" you asked, nuzzling into his neck.
Druig stopped his movements. He could eat it and tell you that he'd buy more once the emergence was over, you'd be none the wiser, but Druig wasn't that kind of man. He lowered his arm and presented the candy to you. "I saved it for you, m'love."

“What the hell did you do?”
Druig looked at the scene before him. Blood painted the floor, a chill was in the air. Everything was wrong. He looked at your body on the floor, dropping to his knees. When he reached out to touch you, your skin was already starting to turn cold.
“What needed to be done,” Ikaris said, watching as Druig collected you in his arms, cradling your body close to his chest. “You cannot be having feelings for humans. That is not our mission.”
“Part of our mission was not to interfere,” Druig said, trying to not choke on his tears. “How could you do this?”
You had been Druig’s closest friend, aside from Makkari. Since coming to kill the Deviants who were harming your town, he had found himself enjoying your company. Druig had never bothered developing any sort of relationship with a human before, but you had been so easy to be around. You were a curious person, wanting to hear about the places beyond your town, what he had seen, what he had done. And he had wanted to know what it was like to be human, to know that your days were numbered but to continue on anyways.
“You should have expected this, Druig. You know that all humans die in the end.”
“Don’t you dare act like you’re so high and mighty just because all you care about is yourself.”
“I care about the mission. As should you.”
“Get out!” Druig shouted, his anger blinding him.
Ikaris left him alone, leaving Druig with you in the small home. With his fellow Eternal gone, he let himself finally begin to cry, tears streaking down his face. You were gone, and he hadn’t been there to protect you. What kind of friend was he? How could he have not foreseen this happening? Ikaris had always had a darker side to him. Druig should have known better.
He should have known better.
Maybe you would still be alive if he hadn’t been so blind fully trusting.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, reaching up, shutting your eyes for you. “I’m so sorry. I should have been better. I should have known better. I promise you, Y/N, I will never let anything like this happen again. I swear it.”
And so began his disillusionment of the grand mission he and his Eternals had been sent on.

✧. In Every Lifetime ✧. Chapter 1 - The Start

Druig knew his time with you would be short, if only he knew just how short it was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite his more reclusive manner, Druig fancies himself a little bit of entertainment with the humans from time to time. He enjoys watching parties, albeit, from a distance, instead of partaking in them like his fellow Eternals, Sersi, Sprite, and Kingo seem to love. Instead, he prefers to watch the humans from afar as they converse.
Though he does not show it, as time goes, he grew to care for the humans around him. Their complex feelings and thoughts, not to mention their tenacity, determination, and fearlessness, stuck out to him. Unlike him and his friends, the humans weren’t immortal. They didn’t possess the powers he and his fellow Eternals indulge on. They simple had their intelligence to differentiate them from Earth’s other species.
And yet, despite all that, they were able to grow more intelligent by the day. They still strive to wake up the next morning even if they know it may just be their last. They aren’t afraid to live.
In the centre of it all was a dancer.
Druig has watched you from afar for quite some time now, a dancer whose compassion knows no bounds. Babylon wasn’t a big city after all, he could watch you from afar without you knowing for a while. Even if that statement did sound rather creepy. He reasons that he’s just trying to make sure you stay safe.
You were one of those humans that seemed to possess more compassion and kindness in your heart than the rest of your peers.
Your tenderness seems to reach out to all manner of life forms too.
Whether that were plants or animals, you treated them with the amount of dignity and respect he never thought was possible in a human. While you were an odd fellow, sometimes slinking out of crowds to no one knows where. Only reappearing a few hours later with a more jovial smile. Druig still seems to be completely enamoured by you.
“Tending to your plants again, are you?” He spoke in Babylonian when he ‘accidentally’ bumps into you.
You were balancing two pots of rather large plants on both hands when you bumped into the Eternal. Almost dropping the two objects if not for Druig, who quickly steadied you and caught one of the pots about to slip from your grasp. He took it from your hands as you thanked him and apologized for not being careful enough. He only smiled and walked with you towards your destination, holding the pot in his hands.
“I simply thought that my garden was lacking in a variety of plants, and spring is to come, so I thought today was a good time to buy more.” You shrugged as you walked side by side with him towards your home.
The pot in your hand was rather heavy, so Druig, ever the gentleman, opened the door for you as you both made your way behind your home to your garden.
“This isn’t diverse enough for you?” He teased you while you placed the potted plant down and took the one in his hands. “There is always room for more plants.”
Druig simply smiled as he watched you take out the plants from their pots and mutter something under your breath before planting them in the ground of your garden. For a moment, he took his time to look around your garden. As a dancer, you didn’t receive much money, well you did, but not enough to allow you to be able to buy a home with a garden as large as this. But as he remembered, this home was gifted to you by another person whose life you had saved.
He was sure to add that to the list of odd things about you. Not only did you constantly mutter something underneath your breath, something even he can’t hear. You also seem to always be around when chaos unfolds. Putting you right in the middle of death. Yet, you always come out of it alive, not unscathed, but alive, and with another life with you.
In every accident that seemed to happen when someone’s life was in danger, you would be able to rescue their life. Of course, this didn’t happen every single time, you didn’t have powers like him or any of the other Eternals, but you saved enough lives for it to be noticeable.
Like the time a building collapsed and you somehow were ablet o pull a child form under the building right before the collision. Druig remembered how much he cursed at himself that night when he saw you with battered and bruised. After you had shielded some of the heavy debris with your body to protect the child.
He thought that he should’ve been the one there, hypnotise the child to run away or do something. Not you, the human who was much more fragile than he was.
Or the other time where a Deviant somehow made its way into the city walls and started destroying the surrounding area. A few lives were lost that day, but more were saved by him and the others. You were there as well, pulling people back from the monster’s jaws, slinking away when the monster’s claws were mere centimetres away from you.
That night you suffered a few broken bones and could not dance for a few months. Months Druig spent with you so you don’t suffer from the most terrible thing in the world.
Boredom.
“Are you going to keep standing there, watching me do all the hard work or ar you going to help me by getting that watering can beside you?” Druig was quickly cut off from his train of thoughts when your voice reached his ears.
He straightened himself from where he was leaning on and chuckled. Grabbing the watering can beside him and giving it over to you. After offering him a small thanks, you spoke again.
“You know,” you paused, “I’ve been noticing something strange lately.” Druig felt like he knew where this was going, yet he still entertained it, leaning back to the wall and crossing his arms in front of his chest as he smirked. “Really? What could that be?”
You laughed as you wiped the dirt off your fingers; before standing up to look at the Eternal in front of you. You weren’t an idiot. You knew of his advances towards you. Despite this, you knew better than to fall in love with him. And yet, your heart still yearns for his touch and his lips on yours.
“There’s this man, who keeps following me around. He thinks I cannot tell, but, you see, I can always tell when his eyes are on me.” You poke as Druig hummed, feigning confusing with a quirk of his rows. “He’s a very curious man. He has these odd powers that make him truly magnificent. The people would praise him like God.” You paused as you whispered the last part, “But I think he’s a thief.”
That made Druig truly surprised. A thief? Him? Maybe Makkari. But him? “A thief you say? What makes you say that about this man?” It was then you walked closer to him.
Mere centimetres away from the man plaguing your dreams for months now. You thought.
May the Gods forgive me.
And let yourself fall in love.
Something you may regret in a couple of days.
“Because he has stolen my heart.” At that moment, you closed the distance between you and him. Placing your lips on his as he chuckled, he saw it coming; of course, he was just waiting to see when it’ll happen.
Not caring about the light dirt that still coated your clothes and hands, he placed one of his hands on your waist and pulled you closer to him. Flushing both your bodies together as his lips greedily took in yours. Like you, he may regret doing something like this in the years to come. But right now? With one of his hands on the small of your back and the other behind your head, deepening the kiss. He couldn’t care less.
He’ll deal with the consequences later.
If only he knew how soon those consequences would come.
Needing air, you pulled yourself away from him. Placing both your hands on his chest as you looked up at Druig with shining eyes. Usually, he’d make an offhanded comment on how you were making a mess of his clothes with your dirty hands. But now, all he did was softy caress your cheek with his hand, the other making mindless patterns on your back.
Druig had never felt o at peace before in his long life. And maybe it was a curse to him that he felt this way towards a human, destined to die long before he even starts to age. If ageing was even possible for an Eternal such as himself. But he couldn’t help it.
Yes, your kindness, compassion, and humility made him first feel entranced by you. Few humans were willing to put their lives on the line to save a stranger. But you weren’t the only human that wasn’t heartless; you weren’t notable in that regard.
So, it was your personality, grace, imperfections, love for plants and animals, and surprisingly green thumb that made your plants thrive even in the coldest of winters that made him fall so desperately in love with you. Yes, it was in the way you carried yourself, in the way you spoke, in the way you moved, in the way you, to simply state it, exist.
Druig has always been enamoured by humans’ ability to take their little time and make it worthwhile. But with you, that seemed to have doubled.
As if you knew every second you lived had to be cherished and loved.
That was the thing he loved most about you.
Call him a fool if you must. Because he was a fool, a fool in love.
You giggled softly when your gaze broke form his overly intense ones before pulling away and patted his chest lightly. Turning around to tend to a particular rare flower, Druig smiled. He watched the way your hands softly glazed over its white petals. He remembered that flower. He gave it to you as an apology a year ago.
“I didn’t think anyone could render you speechless.” You teased with your back facing him.
Druig stayed silent as a mischievous smirk crept up onto his features. As you started to check the leaves of a different plant that he, for the life of him, could not remember the name of, his arms wrapped around your body from behind. Pulling you flush against his chest as he leaned his cheek against yours.
You started laughing when his nimble fingers began tickling your sides.
“Druig!” you yelled as a warning. “Stop!!!” you yelled again between your laughter.
“You want me to stop, beautiful?” he stopped for a moment; letting you finally breathe as you giggled and leaned into his muscled torso. “Yes. Thank you.” You breathlessly mutter.
Druig didn’t let you go though, he kept his hands on the front of your body, swaying side to side. Before whispering in your ear, “No.”
Followed by his fingers immediately tickling you once again. This time it had completely caught you off guard and your wretched instincts, decided to kick in. Your elbow, all of the sudden, hit him straight to his gut. Druig stuttered back as he watched you quickly turn around, both your hands closing your mouth as regret and fear rushed over you.
He would chuckled if it didn’t cause some pain to flicked in his gut.
“You’re stronger than you look.” He spoke as he doubled over. “Gods! I’m sorry, I warned you!”
You tried to keep a light air with your jokes, still, Druig saw how panicked you looked. It confused him slightly. Whilst you were stroner than Druig could ever expect, he had seen how nimble and strong you could be when you pulled or pushed people out of the way from oncoming danger. Your reaction, wide eyes filled with shock and fear, was the curious thing.
Though just as quickly as the pain came, it went. His main priority was now ensuring that you didn’t hurt him. He let a careless smile make its way to his face as he moves towards you. Placing his hands on your cheeks, he chuckled, “I’m alright, my love.”
Those two words felt so natural on his tongue. As if he was meant to call you his love all his life. And hearing those words, he could see your eyes sparkle for a moment. Only for it to suddenly disappear as your brows furrowed. As if you had heard or seen something displeasing to you.
Druig was just about to ask what was wrong, but you quickly shook your head and turned to look back at him. Smiling widely now. All before your lips touched his. This time, with an edge of hurriedness to it.
Druig smiled into the kiss as your hands begun roaming from his chest to his back, pulling him closer to you as the two of you made your way towards the bedroom. Months and months of pining and push and pull between the two of you seemed to have finally reached its peak.
This time, he was the one who pulled back. “I thought you had dance practice for your performance in a couple of days?” he mischievously asked as you shrugged. “I don’t think they’ll mind if I miss a day.”
You smirked as Druig’s hands begun edging the lines of your tunic and pants, “Hm, I don’t think they will.” Was all he said.
That night, Druig spent in the comfort of your touch, of your skin, of your soft voice. Of pleasure and thrill. Your hands roaming his skin, his hands roaming yours. He didn’t know if Heaven existed, or if it was something humans created. But whatever it was, he was sure it felt like this.
Your body against his as you gripped the sheets under you, his groans in your ears as pleasure flowed through his entire being. It truly felt like Heaven.
He wished he could make you see the stars and make you feel the way he does every single day, but alas, your life was fleeting. What he could do was take use of what time he did have.
If only he knew how little that time truly was.
~
A few days later, as night took over, festivities ran high.
Druig went into the city’s centre late into the party, knowing he didn’t really have a reason to surround himself with drunken mortals until a few moments before your performance. The moment he did step into the great hall, he could already see Sprite telling stories of battles and the endless glories of Eternals and humans alike, using her apparitions.
Kingo was dancing with some other drunken men and women, laughing alongside them as they tripped over one another. He could see Ikaris and Sersi conversing in one of the far corners of the room. The two of them had bright smiles on their faces as they chuckled and laughed at what the other must’ve said.
Druig wasn’t usually a jealous person, but he did occasionally get jealous. He was jealous of seeing the two of them. It would take an idiot not to see they were softly falling in love with one another. And unlike him, their love could blossom and grow in the thousands of years they’ll live through. Whilst his love would have to wilt and die the moment you closed your eyes.
Something that’ll come sooner than he thought.
He shook his head, ridding himself of those macabre thoughts. Perhaps he should take a leaf out of the humans’ book and cherished what short life they had. Mortality was never a thing he had to face until he fell head over heels for you.
In the corner of his eye, he could see Ajak watching him. Well, she was always watching everyone form afar. Her motherly tendencies and instinct never seem to halt even in the festive environment. Thena, Gilgamesh, and Phastos were talking to some other humans on one of the tables. Well, it was more like Phastos talking and the rest listening. Though seeing from Gilgamesh’s rather bored expression, he was looking for a chance to leave the conversation.
The only Eternal he didn’t see was Makkari.
But he didn’t think too much of that. Makkari had always been the Eternal with a penchant for mischief, with him in close second. She was probably out exploring some part of the city none of them could get to or stealing something that interested her whilst the people partied.
Suddenly, the music dulled, the drums people were playing silenced, and that had been the moment he’d been waiting for. Druig slinked back to the part of the hall where not many could see him, despite him being able to clearly see the middle of the hall where everyone had parted away.
Slowly, a different tune started to play. One made of more melody than that of the festive drums of before. One that had a beat, a rhythm, and a tune. From the entrance of the hall came a slew of dancers. They all dressed in the same beautiful clothing that matched the interior of the hall. With their talents and grace, everyone loved them.
Despite their similar way of clothing themselves, Druig’s eyes easily landed on yours. The two of you made eye contact for a while when you went in, he grinned when you bashfully broke your gaze.
As you moved your body across the ground with grace and agility. He couldn’t look away. Enamoured and entranced by your elegance. He let his lips tweak up to a very rare soft smile. One he immediately retreated when he suddenly felt someone tap his shoulder, right in time for the song to finish and the dancers to take their leave after basking in the loud cheers of the audience.
When Druig looked to his side, he groaned in displeasure. Staring up at him was the mischievous grin of a certain Eternal that he couldn’t locate earlier that night. Makkari.
She grinned widely at him.
“What?” he signed as well as spoke. It wasn’t like the people around him could understand his language either way. Makkari only laughed loudly as a response, “I see your eyes was stuck on a particular dancer.” She teased. “I also see the way you follow her around like a creep.”
She laughed once she finished signing that last part of her statement. Druig cocked his head to the side. Was it that obvious? As if she could sense his thoughts, Makkari quickly signed.
“It isn’t that obvious, don’t worry too much, but I do like watching the people here and I,” she paused, “I see the way she looks at you. Are you going to do anything about it?” She queried.
Makkari had no way of knowing that Druig had already done something about it. The only question in his mind was, what now? He wanted to pursue you more; you didn’t have much time left in your life.
Although right now Babylon was at peace, that didn’t mean the human lifespan now was very long. As far as he knew, the average age where human women died were around their 40s, you were just about to reach 30 this year. You only had so long left.
He should do something about it.
Cherish the years you have left with him. But would it be worth the heartbreak after? And did you even want this? You could’ve wanted to just love someone that would die with you. He could read your mind to ifnd out the answers to his questions, but he had sworn to you once this friendship bloomed to never do that. And he’d rather die than betray your trust in him.
“You should do something about it.” Makkari signed before smiling at her friend and leaving him to lament on her words.
It was at that point that Druig realized something.
He didn’t care how long he had with you. He knew you loved him; if you didn’t you wouldn’t have kissed him. So, whatever time he has left with you, he’d gladly spend it by your side.
After this realization, he immediately bolted out of the door to look for you. He didn’t know where you went, but an idea went into his head once he saw one of the dancers. Not caring to ask, he went into her mind and searched if she knew where you went. The answers that came to him puzzled him.
You had separated from the group early on after they had left the hall, and this particular dancer, whose mind he inhibits now, saw you making your way to the rooftop of the great structure that was the great hall.
For all his time watching you, he had never seen you even go there or allude to wanting to go there. It was a beautiful place to watch the stars and the city below, but it wasn’t somewhere he thought interested you.
With a puzzled mind, Druig made the ascend towards the rooftop of the great hall. When he reached the top, his heart dropped to the ground. There you were, standing extremely close to the edge. Watching the ground below you.
He hesitantly called out to you. When you gasped and almost lost balance of your footing, Druig swore he could feel his heart stop just for a second.
You slowly and carefully turned around, now facing him.
“What are you doing?” he spoke, hesitantly and slowly made his way towards you.
By the way your face scrunched up in a dilemma, you seemed to not know what to tell him.
“Step away from the edge my love, you’re going to get hurt.” He was now a few metres away from you. He had half a mind to just use his powers and get you out of danger, but he stopped himself.
When he took another step forward, you yelled at him. “Druig, please! Don’t- Don’t come any closer.”
That sudden fear in your voice caused him to stop immediately. What were you doing??? What was happening???
“I-” you could only stare at him with tears brimming the corner of your eyes, “Why do you have to make this so difficult for me?!” You screamed at him.
To be completely honest, Druig ddidn’t know what you were talking about. He hadn’t seen the signs; he hadn’t seen you seemingly wanting to hurt or kill yourself. But perhaps he was just blind to it, and for that, he hated himself.
He called out to you again, his voice bringing the tears in the corners of your eyes to fully pour out. You sobbed softly as Druig wracked his brain for something to say, anything at all.
How he wished he could just approach you, pull you from the edge and comfort you. He loathed seeing you cry. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t risk coming any closer to you in case that you decided to do the unfathomable.
“Why are you doing this?!” Was the only thing that came out.
You closed your eyes and shook your head violently to the side, whispering and muttering something under your breath. Something he couldn’t hear.
He’s had enough. He cherished your trust in him and he’d hate to break it. But he cared about you more. He couldn’t lose you. Not like this. Not when he had just realized how much love he could give you.
At a moment’s notice, he used his power against you, only to feel a sudden drawback, a terrible headache swirled his head. And you, didn’t move away from the edge. His powers. Didn’t work.
He called out to you again. This time, cautious and absolutely terrified.
The headache grew tenfold in size and pain as he tried, again and again, to force your body to move towards him. To get you to safety, to convince you that you didn’t need to do this. That whatever was pushing you to kill yourself at this moment was irrelevant and didn’t matter.
But it wouldn’t work.
Panic rose through his entire system. Something he didn’t feel very often. But at this moment, with the back of your feet at this point dangling dangerously on edge and his powers seemingly unaffecting you. Terror filled him.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered, “I wished we had more time.”
Druig’s legs moved before he could think; he practically ran towards you, desperate to do something instead of standing around. But it was too late by the time he was at arm’s distance towards you. You had leaned back. You had fallen from the building. You had ended your life.
There was a small thud when your body hit the ground, followed by hundreds of screams. The festivities stopped almost immediately. And so did he.
He stayed silent, processing what had just happened. In the end, when he realized this wasn’t just a sick and twisted dream being played on him, he dropped to his knees.
Druig stared at where you had just stood minutes ago, before you took your own life. In his mind, he berated himself for not being able to do something about it. The fact that your mind was immune to his powers was the least of his concerns at this moment.
He could hear Makkari run through the stairs leading up to the rooftop. She stood in shock at the top of the staircase, taking in the sight in front of her. Of Druig, the one Eternal that had never seemed to show any kind of weakness, suddenly on his knees, helplessly watching the spot where the woman he loved once stood.
When Makkari made her way towards her friend, she didn’t use her speed. She took her time for once. Walking towards Druig softly before coming down to her knees beside him as well.
Her right arm reached to his right shoulder, her left on his left, whilst her cheek leaned towards his left shoulder. Offering him a silent comfort, she leaned sideways towards him, embracing him in a side hug. He didn’t move, didn’t react.
He simple stared.
Oh, all of the things he would give to just see you once more. See your bright smile even when you had broken yet another bone from saving the life of a kitten who was just about to be hit by a horse. Hear your voice as you rambled about how someone was kind enough to give you a rare plant form their travels. Fell your lips against his own as the two of you chuckled in the privacy of your garden.
There were many things Druig, an Eternal, didn’t feel much compared to the humans around him. Life experience allowed him to do so. Mortality was a human attribute he never thought would look at him straight in his eyes.
He didn’t know how to feel, what to think, how to act.
Very time he had felt disturbed or helpless, like the times Ajak wouldn’t let him intervene as humans brawled one another, he reacted with anger. He didn’t like feeling sad. He preferred to be angry.
So that was what he did.
He shrugged Makkari’s touch away from him and abruptly stood up. Making his way towards the staircase, his shoulders shoving into Ikaris as the rest of the Eternals finally reached the top of the rooftop to see what happened. He didn’t care for the way Sersi or Ajak called out to him until Makkari stopped them.
He felt angry.
Resentful almost.
At himself for not being able to do anything.
At the world for making humans so damn fragile and mortal.
And finally.
At fate for making him fall so deeply in love with someone who he knew he had a limited time with. Only that he didn’t realize how truly limited that time was.
As he made his way outside the hall, he heard one of the dancers cry. “We were just about to celebrate her birthday. What could push her to do such a thing?!” She wailed into someone’s shoulder.
Oh, fate was truly cruel, wasn’t it?
Your birthday, and not only did he not know, he also had to witness your death on your fucking birthday.
How cruel the world was.

The air in the temple was tense as everyone eyed each other cautiously. The last time everyone in the room was together-- with the exception of Makkari and Ajak- they were discussing what to do with your body that laid limp on the marble slab next to Thena’s. Now you’re here, your heart beating, your blood racing through your veins.
Everyone shifted uncomfortably, as you and Druig stared each other down. His gaze was still harsh, convinced you had left him in the dark on purpose. You just stared blankly, unsure how to feel. You were numb, yet angry. Angry at Druig for what he did to your people, angry at Druig for the way he wouldn’t even listen to you.
“Druig…” Sersi finally said, just bareilly above a whisper. When Druig didn’t answer, she shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She didn’t want to say his name again, fearing she’d only fuel the fire that was raging silently in the room right now.
“Well, what are ya waiting for,” Druig snapped, impatiently.
“Ajak… she’s… she’s dead. The Deviants are back, only it's just one, and it's able to adapt to our powers. We think it took Ajak’s healing ability before killing her.”
A beat passed before Druig finally responded, tearing his gaze away from you.
“You’ve given me a lot of bad news in one go, me lady. First, the once love of my life returns, alive, with the ones who betrayed her, and now this news about a Deviant able to evolutionize in seconds…” You grimaced at the word ‘once’. Was that really how he felt?
“Will you help us?” Sersi asked, her voice full of hope. Druig stood from where he was leaning on the table in the front, and began pacing around.
“Do you remember this forest? It was the last place we were all together- dead or alive,” he looked at you, his words full of venom. “I have protected these people for 20 generations. From both, the outside world and from themselves.” He was now standing before Kingo and Karun, smirking as he stared down Karun.
“Your kind will be responsible for your own destruction one day. Don’t ya think?” Druig asked, trying to bait him.
“I think we must learn from our mistakes, so we can do better,” Karun answered, his voice echoing off the temple walls. He wasn’t scared. He should have been. This angered Druig. His eyes glowed that golden color of cosmic powers and in the next moment, Karun was throwing his camera against the wall.
“Oh no you didn’t. Okay, new rule, no possessing people’s valets,” Kingo said, standing up and moving directly in front of Druig.
“Where is your sense of humor, Kingo?”
“You are not a god, you know that right?” Kingo sneered, not backing down.
“How ironic… Kingo, the movie sta-”
“Druig! Enough,” you shouted, trying to stop this before it turned into a pissing contest between the two. The sound of your voice stopped him dead in his tracks, turning to face you again. He slowly moved until he was now in front of you, trying his best to be intimidating. You held your breath as his scent filled your nose.
“Don’t talk to me,” his voice was low, and cold. It brought tears to your eyes, which he noticed, but you straightened up.
“This is serious, Druig.” Sersi said firmly. “ I was waiting until I had everyone together, but I have enough of you now I think I can just tell you…” she said. She told them of what happened when she discovered Ajak’s body. Of the things Arishem told her, the fact that they were never here to protect the humans, only to aid in the existence of the emergence.
“So, Druig, please. All of you… we have to figure this out.” She finished, looking to everyone, but especially to Druig. He was the one that could make or break this mission- his power was especially useful.
“I’ve just been told that I’ve been sent on a suicide mission for the last seven thousand years,” he paused and turned to you, “and that most of that existence has been a lie. So excuse me for not giving a fuck about your plan at the moment,” he finished, turning and heading out of the temple.
“Druig fucking sucks,” Kingo said. You just looked at him, before turning to leave as well.
You went out of the temple in search of Druig- you had to sort this out. A building next to the temple caught your eye. In the window was a vase of dragonsnaps and another of Marigolds- the flowers that were etched into your headpiece. When you looked around, you didn’t notice a vase in any of the other windows, so you made your way up to the door.
Slowly opening it, you halted at the threshold. It opened into a living room, adorned in all of your favorite colors and all the things the villagers had made you over the centuries. The entire hut was a temple dedicated to you. When you moved further in, you noticed a bedroom in the back corner. As you moved closer , you eyed something draped over the bed. It was the hand woven blanket that one of the village moms had made you. It brought a tear to your eye, knowing that Druig still had all of this to remember you.
“What are you doing here?” Druig asked, making you jump. You hadn’t heard him come in. His voice was laced with venom still.
“Druig, stop, please,” you whispered. “Stop the hostility. You haven’t even given me a chance to explain myself-”
“Well go on then!” Druig interrupted, yelling at you. You closed your mouth, completely over the way he was treating you.
“Stop yelling at me!” You responded back. “Gods, Druig, this is madness! Why are you so rude!”
“Why? Why am I rude? I don’t know, y/n, why do you think?! I watched you die, and here you are-”
“Yea! Here I am! You should be happy to see I’m alive, that I’m here!”
“Yea, only after a couple THOUSAND YEARS!” Druig scoffed. He was in your face now, absolutely livid that you couldn’t understand why he was upset.
“Get. Out. Of. My. Face.” You sneered back. He wasn’t expecting your voice to be laced with as much venom as he had in his. It made him stumble back a few steps. You pushed past him and headed to the door.
“Y/N- wait,” his voice was shaking.
He was about to say more, but a familiar growl interrupted him. It rumbled through the woods, vibrating the windows next to you.
“Oh no,” you whispered, flinging the door open, and booking it down to the middle of the grounds, where Sersi, Sprite, Kingo and Ikaris were standing.
“Did you hear that?” You asked. They nodded, preparing to fight whatever was heading towards them. Druig was following behind you, taking his stance next to your side– just like before. You tried to act like you didn’t notice. Thena and Gilgamesh were missing, but otherwise, everyone was there… waiting.
The trees ahead of you shook, and you knelt down to feel the vibrations running through the ground.
“It’s getting closer. Druig, you need to get everyone out of here.” You said, motioning to the helpless humans aimlessly working, not noticing the sounds in the distance.
“They can fight,” Druig responded. He lifted his arm, his eyes going golden. Suddenly, the villagers stopped what they were doing, and picked up the nearest shotgun to them. Druig had them line up, ready to attack.
“Are you serious Druig?! Get them out of here!” You shouted. “This is unbelievable,” you whispered under your breath as he just shook his head.
Suddenly, a screech echoed through the woods, and a Deviant with wings flew down, snatching Ikaris by the shoulders. Sersi yelled out, but you knew he could handle his own. You turned, anticipating where the next one would come.
“I thought you said there was only one?” Druig asked.
“There was only one… until now,” you said. This changed Druigs tone tremendously.
“Everyone! To the river, now!” He yelled to the villagers, who took their guns and ran. Druig snatched one from one of them, cocking it and aiming it towards the woods.
A small Deviant came from the side, but with one blast of lightning, you cut it down. Druig was shocked, but not surprised. Clearly you had worked on your control. Another small Deviant came out from the left, and Druig claimed this one, shooting at it twice before running up its back and shooting it in the head.
You hated to admit how hot it was to see him with a gun, his muscles flexed in the sleeveless sweater he wore. You couldn’t let yourself get distracted though. Kingo and Sprite took on two more Deviants that came out.
There was an electrical charge in the air. You sensed it. Something bigger was coming, something stronger… the One from before. As you let the Eternals take on the smaller ones, you decided to muster all of the elements you could- something Loki taught you to do.
Reaching your arms out to the east and west, you lifted your head to the north, and stood on your tiptoes for your toes to face the south. Muttering a chant under your breath, you began to levitate, the golden cosmic energy swirling around you. Druig was the first to notice, as he dropped a Deviant he just killed.
“Woah,” he whispered. This caught everyone else’s attention. No one knew you could do this.
In your head you pictured the elements rising. Rocks began to levitate off the ground, sticks and water droplets as well. They all rose to be level with you, before moving to point into an arrow directly in front of you. Flashes began to play in your head of the leader of the Deviants. You saw a name written out: Kro, and then you saw it. It  was just about to be at the edge of the woods. You manipulated the elements to form a long stick, sharp enough at the end to penetrate its skin, and then you waited. Just as it made its way to the clearing of the woods, you sent a gust of wind with it. It pierced it right in the chest, but it wasn’t enough.
While you were still levitating, you summoned a lightning storm. Your eyes glowed golden as the golden cosmic energy flowed around you still. Lightning began to strike from the sky, setting the trees on fire next to it, causing them to fall on it. As that happened, Kingo blasted it with his energy bolts, and Ikaris returned, beaming it as well from higher up.
Only this wasn’t enough either. The power wasn’t just penetrating Kro, it was flowing through him. He was adapting your powers. A vision flashed in your mind of lightning being sent your way and you ducked. It struck the workshop behind you.
Kro cut its connection with you, and sent a large stone hurling your way. It struck you, and you fell to the ground with a scream.
It was the same scream Druig heard every night in his dreams. Rushing to your side, he moved the stone off of you.
“Y/n, oh god, no,” he whispered, seeing blood pool under your clothes on your chest. PTSD began to bubble up. It was in these same woods he lost you once, and now he was going to lose you again. Your chest was sunken in from the stone, and he could see the color drain from your face.
“Elixir… pocket…” you breathed out. Druig reached into the pocket of your pants and pulled out a shiny, dark green vile. He popped it open, and held it to your lips. Within seconds your chest rose to its natural place, no longer dented from the large stone.
“What… what was that?” Druig asked, as he helped you sit up.
“A healing elixir that Loki helped me make.”
Druig pulled you tightly into a hug, the fear of almost losing you again was too much for him to continue holding his grudge. It no longer mattered to him why you weren’t here all these years. You were here now, and that’s what mattered more to him. Your heart was beating, and he could hear it. You were alive.
“I’m so sorry,” he whispered. His voice broke; he was crying. You hugged him back tighter.
“I hate to interrupt this moment- but we could really use your help here!” Kingo shouted, making the two of you pull away from each other. Druig was still in shock, he sat back watching the events unfold in front of him.  Sersi had just come to from being knocked out. Kingo and Sprite were shoved off into a building, and Ikaris was now being held down by the Deviants hand. Kro was gone.
Sersi got up, and went after the Deviant holding Ikaris down. It got off of Ikaris, and went after Sersi, pushing her into the water of the walled pool that stood in the center. WIthin the next second, water droplets splashed up from the water and  a tree made from Deviant flesh stood in the middle, limbs sprouting in all different directions. The water then fell, drenching everyone.
“How did you do that?” Ikaris asked, but before Sersi could answer, their attention was drawn to you. You were levitating again, attempting to find Kro. He was further in the woods with Gilgamesh and Thena.
“Gilgamesh. Woods. Now!” You shouted. Without questioning it, everyone took off to help Gilgamesh fight off Kro.
The woods were dark as you moved through them. It was eerie familiar, and you had to push down the anxiety that was bubbling up inside. As if Druig could sense your discomfort with being in these woods again, he reached out and softly grabbed your hand. All felt right in the world again to have him by your side.
But that all got tossed to the side when you heard a scream up ahead. It was Gilgamesh. The two of you broke out in a run, catching up to where the others were. You gasped at the sight before you.
Kro had struck Gilgamesh down, and fled after realizing their true purpose on earth with the emergence. It turns out Arishem left everyone in the dark.
Gilgamesh lay lifeless on the forest floor, gaping wounds glittering in the faint moon light. He had sacrificed himself to save the love of his life.
“No…” Thena whispered, as she processed what she just saw. She kneeled next to Gilgamesh, resting her head on his chest.
“Right when we lose Ajak too…” Ikaris whispered to Sersi. You shot him a glare, still suspicious of him.
“Wait, y/n, what about the elixir?” Druig asked, a little too loudly. Everyone’s heads snapped to you.
“I… I only had one on me. I could try and make it real fast, but I don’t know how long after… you know, death it works…” you trailed off, hurt that you didn’t think to snag 2.
“No, it’s okay. Gilgamesh was a natural man, he wouldn’t have wanted to be brought back after death.” Thena responded callously, before breaking down into tears.
An all too familiar feeling ran through Druig. These woods were cursed to him and, now, to Thena. The place she once took someone's life, she now lost her love. The parallel was gut-wrenchingly obvious to everyone in the circle they now made around Thena and Gilgamesh. No one said anything while Thena sobbed over him.
The feelings of deja vu became too much for Druig, as he stood watching his fellow eternal mourn the one they loved dearly. He reached for your hand, but you pulled away.
Not now, you mouthed. You didn’t want to rub in Thena’s face that you came back, when Gilgamesh never will. Druig tensed up. He needed your comfort right now.
“We need to hold a funeral,” Thena spoke up suddenly.
“Of course,” Sersi whispered. “Shall we do it at the lake again?”
“That would be nice,” Thena answered.
Everyone dispersed to grab materials for the pyre to build. Druig went to grab an accelerant, while Ikaris and Sprite went to cut some wood. Kingo and Sersi went to find some leaves to twine the wood together, before Druig pointed out that they had some rope in a warehouse.
“We’re not that uncivilized,” Druig smirked.
You decided to hang back with Thena. While the rift between the two of you wasn’t fixed, you couldn’t bring yourself to leave her side. You knelt next to her, and placed your hands on the dirt floor.
“Do you know if he had a favorite flower… or plant?” You whispered. Thena gave you a confused look until she saw your hands.
“Wolfsbane was a favorite of his, along with lilies,” she finally answered. She watched carefully as your hands began to glow. Patches of wolfsbane and lilies began to shoot up through the dirt.
“Do you think that is enough, or should we make some more?”
Thena’s face softened at your kindness. She appreciated the use of ‘we’ as if she was honestly helping you magically grow flowers from the ground. Especially with the tension between the two of you.
“I think we should do some more,” you answered, and began to make more. But you were stopped by Thena’s hand on top of yours.
“Thank you.”
You didn’t know what to say. Anything you could think of seemed lacking given the grave circumstances. Instead, you offered her a warm smile.
After everything was prepared, Ikaris, Druig and Kingo helped carry Gilgamesh down to the pyre, setting him on top before lighting it. The wooden planks were decorated with the flowers you grew, and the leaves Sersi and Kingo gathered before Druig showed them the rope.
Nothing but the roar of the fire filled the night sky. Thena held her head up high. Even when sad and mourning, she still looked effortlessly graceful; you envied her for it. As Gilgamesh’s body burned, Ikaris and Kingo pushed the pyre into the water, watching respectfully as it floated down the river.
You placed a comforting hand on Thena’s shoulder, before turning and heading back up the hill. You wanted to give her her space before his body disappeared around the curve. Everyone else seemed to have the same idea, besides Druig. He hung back with Thena, the memories too consuming to leave her alone.
“How did you move on, after y/n’s death?” You heard Thena ask. You hung back behind a tree to listen for his answer.
“I’m not sure. Clearly, I didn't do very well. I enslaved the people she loved to keep her memory alive. I don’t recommend that though,” Druig snickered, turning to face Thena.
“I just didn’t let my love for her die. I kept it ignited all these years. It was hard, sure. Some days I thought about endin’ it all, in this river actually, to join her back home. But I couldn’t leave these people leader-less, so I stayed. Now I’m glad I did, but I know that this fortune won’t come to everyone.” Druig answered. Thena’s face softened as she took in his answer.
“How do you think I could keep his love alive?” Thena asked, genuinely. She was lost on what to do.
“Just by being the Thena he loved.” His answer brought a tear to her eye. She nodded her head, and he swung an arm around her shoulder.
“You’re gonna be alright, Thena. You’re gonna be just fine,” Druig comforted. She leaned her head on his shoulder and smiled. She was grateful for the kindness he was showing her.

XTRA RANDOM
Tumblr media
Druig x reader
Words: 153
~~~~~
Now Druig wasn’t the type to whine, to complain. That just wasn’t his style, yet he somehow found himself biting back his tongue, as you kept avoiding his hand. At first he found it amusing, he knew you were doing it on purpose but now it was slightly annoying. The whole day he’s been reaching out, but each time you diverted.
For you, it started off as a simple little prank. You thought it was funny, seeing Druig slightly sulking, but much like him, your feelings changed as the day progressed. You sort of started to feel guilty even. By the time the sun had set you’ve decided to end the prank, suddenly wrapping your hand around his. As soon as your hand touched his, he spun around immediately wrapping you in his arms and peppering your face with kisses.
“Don’t ever do that again,” he said, burying his head against your neck.
Dark!Druig Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[check out the 500 followers special!]
I have finally watched Eternals and now I understand why y'all are so obsessed with this man because same
This is a concept that is neither new nor uncommon
But my God do I love it
So let's dive into it
You’re part of the commune, just living your best rustic cottagecore life without a care about the outside world
Goals tbh
And it’s a perfectly normal day when Druig takes notice of you
It’s not like you’ve just appeared, you were born there
Druig may have been looking but he wasn’t seeing
You’re just carrying a basket of produce, waving and smiling at the children running around
And it’s as if Arishem himself bitch slapped Druig
He eavesdrops on your thoughts and comes to the realization that you’re the personification of human virtues, without an ounce of vice
Druig is watching you from a distance like one watches a wild animal in its natural habitat, careful not to disturb it. He also begins to follow you around
And as much as he would like to show the humankind what it can be, a weird fear clouds his mind
What if the world corrupts you? What if your virtues are delicate enough to be devoured by the odiousness of darkest desires?
No, he can’t risk that
And with that thought, he approaches you for the very first time in an attempt to see if your words are as chaste as your image in his head
Ever since Druig quite clearly suggests that you should "surrender" yourself to his protection and live like you deserve
Pointing out the possible dangers lurking around and the fact that not all people have pure intentions and that he, and only he, could keep you safe and sound
The vision of the world he presents to you is definitely embellished for certain purposes
The proposition, although kind, is met with rejection: it’s not that you don’t like Druig or don't believe his words, you just like your simple, rustic life
It’s a very rewarding lifestyle, to know that your mangoes, rumberries, grapefruits and avocados feed the community you love and care about
Man I love fruit
Besides, Druig has done so much for you, your family and the entire community. He would have no reason to deceive you, would he?
Druig's not keen on negotiations
I mean, you are just a human after all, right? He’s a timeless space being, he probably knows better
You’ll love staying by his side! You just don’t know it yet
So the next bit you’ve, kind of, brought unto yourself. Until you see reason, Druig doesn’t have many options, does he?
He starts off with more subtle things like mind-controlling everyone into alienating you
There are two reasons for that: 1) he doesn't want to risk anyone tainting your kindness and gentleness, and 2) if no one engages in a relationship with you, the loneliness will bring you straight to him
Yes, the idea of being your savior has been occupying his mind for quite some time
Your friends don't have the time to talk to you, some people start to completely ignore you, and your family is genuinely disinterested in you
He fights with his own thoughts about whether he should plant a seed of dislike in your head towards those around you: sure, it would make this whole ordeal easier for him but wouldn't it be a speck of dirt on your otherwise chaste spirit? In the end, he settles for unwavering ambivalence
Druig knows he's breaking your heart, he hears it in your thoughts, but it's a step towards the greater good: sometimes you have to lose first to win later.
So don't be surprised when you wake up one day to a thought in your head that maybe venturing alone into the woods isn't a good idea and that maybe you should stop by Druig's and see how he's doing
But it's rude to show up at someone's house empty-handed, so you bring some fruit with you
Druig definitely got you to hand-feed him grapes or berries
Depending on how receptive you are to his coercion, he might put himself into your dreams
Especially if you're having a nightmare, "saving" you from whatever's bringing you woe
He could, of course, plant an entirely new dream into your head but where's the fun in that? Druig plays his cards well
Even if consciously you know it's just a dream and none of it is real, you can't help your subconscious mind being more drawn towards Druig - just the way he planned everything
In all honesty, it would be less than child's play to make you devoted to him but such a scenario can't quite satisfy the itch inside him. He longs for you to choose to be by his side like a game he plays to win and although he does cheat in this game, the win is a lot less satisfying when the game is rigged to your favor __________ @restingbitchsblog
Druig + corruption kink
This concept makes me (s)cream
He kinda watches the community living its simple, peaceful life
And he notices you, carrying something, with flowers in your hair/on your head
Waving and smiling at the kids running by
Druig realizes that you’re the personification of what humanity can be
And that innocence of yours really gets to him
It's like a juicy peach begging to be eaten
Druig basically slithers his way into your life
Rest of Eternals show up and they quickly notice that he's more interested in you than anything else
The world may be ending but you're not wearing a bra today because it's too hot. I mean, the choice should be harder
From the moment he opens his mouth for the very first time, he has you flustered
All the compliments and little touches
"My beautiful, beautiful (Y/N). Aren't you shining today?"
"Well, aren't a beautiful little flower?"
When you blush and laugh nervously at his words, Druig is using all of his power to not fuck you dumb in the middle of the village
(he would definitely be into that, just railing you against the tree while everyone else just carries on with their tasks)
He sweet-talks you into his bed but don't misunderstand: he's being genuine with his words. Druig means every word that leaves his mouth. He's just smooth AF
Dirty talk in Irish accent
scottish and irish accents make me scream tbh
"You feel so fucking good"
"You're so pretty getting fucked"
"Fuck, you're tight, love"
"Have you any idea how long I've waited for this?"
Speaking of peaches, Druig eats pussy like a famished man
Absolutely loves how you react and it gives him so much satisfaction
You always appear so innocent and now you're making the most lewd of sounds he's ever heard
If you beg him, Druig might just lose his damn mind
I feel like the actual intercourse would be more sensual
He's going deep and hard
Foreheads touching, holding your neck/jaw
He wants to hear every little whimper and moan you make
Each whispered "please" or "Druig" is making him scream inside
If you scratch his arms, he's going to wear that sleeveless shirt all the time
It's like showing off an Olympic medal
You, on the other hand, are trying to hide the lovebites
And Druig is getting cocky seeing how you're pulling at your clothes to cover them
Maybe next time he can give you one in a place impossible to cover
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL PAIN Pairing: Druig x Reader Part 2
Tumblr media
The day had been fairly productive for you despite your growing anxiety. You couldn’t shake the vision, it was too dark and seemed to cast a shadow behind you wherever you went. Druig left you to your own thoughts all day even though you needed his presence the most. He didn’t always speak the most words but he said everything in his silence. Looking up over your sketch pad you blew that pesky stray hair out of your face to see him walking up in deep conversation with Phastos. The butterflies took flight causing you to smudge your line a little far skewing the entire picture of the trees you were attempting to draw. Sighing in frustration you threw the pad onto the table in defeat. “It didn’t look still that bad to me” Gil chuckled before placing a large plate of piping hot vegetables before you. You rolled your eyes playfully but silently thanked him through the look in your eyes.
One by one everyone found their way to the table to join for dinner. After biting into a soft, warm piece of bread you took a glance to the place in front of you. His deep and intense eyes already peering at you intently as if he was trying to see your soul. Well maybe he could see it. Quickly you grabbed the empty glass to your right and filled it with as much wine as you could get away with before anyone labeled it unusual. Sipping the wine as fast as possible you felt your nerves began to calm in the tingling fires of alcohol. “So Y/N anything we should know about? I thought I heard footsteps in the night. Who’s the visitor?” Kingo wondered causing you to choke on the liquid currently in your mouth. You instantly made eye contact with Druig pleading  for release from the situation. “How are we sure you’re not trying to pawn off your catch of the week on y/n?” Druig asked his tone sharp and slightly condescending. “I mean that is true Kingo. You do have a lot of visitors” Gil stated coming to your defense. You felt as if you could sink into a black hole or maybe you just wanted to. “It’s better than listening to those two all night” Sprite motioned to Ikaris and Sersi. Everyone erupted in laughter giving you the needed break to escape from the table.
Standing by the nearby stream you were able to catch the best view of the sunset. “Gil” you called out softly, “I know it’s you”. He reached out and grabbed your hand squeezing it slightly. “It’s beautiful tonight isn’t it?” He commented opening the conversation you know he came over to have. “Indeed it is. This is my favorite spot to come…think or draw” you admitted. “So I’ve noticed” he smiled, “among other things” he hinted. You groaned throwing your head back. “We don’t have to talk about this” you dismissed attempting to walk away. “I mean it’s just Druig. It’s just …he’s just…you know he’s Druig.” You stammered as you suddenly turned back around facing him letting the words attempt to leave your mouth and make sense. “Why don’t you just tell him you love him?” He offered. “You know why” you nearly whispered your eyes diverting to the ground now as you walked away. “Maybe it won’t happen” Gil said grabbing your hand before you could get too far away. “It’s what I pray for everyday” you confessed.
Night came quicker than expected or maybe that was just your mind that was too busy to notice time changing. You lay on your bed on your back staring at the starlight peaking through the ceiling tile. You always loved that broken piece. Smiling to yourself as you allowed the distraction to take over you the anxiety had seemed to ease. But it was only momentarily. You turned onto your side facing the wall placing your hand on the cold stone. He was there. Right next to you but so far away. It made your heart ache. Well that put it lightly. It made your heart feel as if you were having an active heart attack that wouldn’t stop. It hurt to breathe. It hurt to hold your breath. But when he looked at you, damn. You felt seen. You felt beautiful. “Goodnight” you whispered to the wall as if it would bring him to you.
“Did you say something?” His voice wafted in from the entryway. You inhaled sharply feeling immensely embarrassed. Turning around slowly you saw the familiar outline flowing from the candle that was nearly burnt out. “Yeah uh just you know wishing the world a good night. I do it for the good juju” you tried to explain tucking yourself hair behind your ear. “Well I might have to try that myself. I’ve had enough bad luck to last me my lifetime.” He stated bluntly. You crinkled your eyebrows, your heart taking a punch. “I wouldn’t believe that even if it were true” you encouraged blowing him off with a wave and a smile. Even though it was true. You closed your eyes only for a moment and saw flashes of his face. But it wasn’t his. It didn’t belong to the Druig you knew. This one was scared and in pain. When you opened your eyes again he was gone, but behind him he left the heaviness you felt in your heart.
