4 June 2017: Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen inaugurated the 3rd Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition today at the National Memorial Chorten. The event was graced by His Majesty The King, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Members of the Royal Family, the Prime Minister, and senior government officials. Her Imperial Highness Princess Mako of Japan was a special guest at the event. The Flower Exhibition which is being held at the National Memorial Chorten in Thimphu this year, is dedicated to His Majesty the Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The RBFE was initiated upon the Royal Command of His Majesty The King in 2015, to foster an appreciation for beautiful spaces and encourage entrepreneurship in floriculture. The exhibition is organized by the ministry of agriculture. Private nurseries, and various agencies participated in the exhibition along with international participants from India, Thailand, and Japan, to set up microgardens for the exhibition. Officials from the agriculture ministry and other agencies have been working at the Memorial Chorten for weeks in preparation for the exhibition, along with the support of volunteers. At the same time, numerous government agencies and private offices have taken up the responsibility of developing microgardens around their own offices and surroundings across Thimphu, in the spirit of the objectives of the Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition. The exhibition is open to the public from tomorrow onwards, till the 11th of June. The exhibition will stay open till 8 pm each day. Today is Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen's 27th Birth Anniversary.
