Obscure Far Cry Promos and Content

I'm a big far cry fan, which means I have to make my own food in this economy. But sometimes I just want some ACTUAL canon or canon-ish or even just canon-adjacent content, y'know? It has gotten to the point I go into youtube rabbit holes or watch a remarkably below average hallmark movies for 5 minutes of an actor's screentime to hopefully hear Jason or Ajay or whoever talk. Far Cry: Esperanza's Tears comic // this is a Juan-centric prequel comic that features a completely new country, lore about Far Cry universe's political landscape, and lots of cameos from 3-6's characters! very interesting read especially if you're a sucker for backstories like me

Far Cry: Rite of Passage comic // this is more popular as it features Anton telling Diego the backstories for 3-5's villains.

There is also a book titled The Official Far Cry Survival Guide written by a fictional character called Hunter Nash, who supposedly grew up with Hope County-level of a doomsday prepper dad and winds up as a journalist who travels to the locations of 3-6 and wrote how to survive each location accordingly. It's adorned with official artwork of the games and plenty of survival tips. Not much lore-wise, but cool nonetheless! it also fuels my co-workers au ideas but that's personal.

i have actually found stuff like a really old MTV show called Undressed with Gianpaolo Venuta where he uses his Jason voice for his character, and how Patrick Kwok-Choon, the new voice actor for Ajay does voice acting in Thomas the Train Engine and Paw Patrol, and an indie movie with Greg Bryk where he wears fun sunglasses like Joseph, but that's neither here nor there to the franchise, so eh. // i'll edit this post if i find more, so maybe check back sometimes!

What if...? S2 E3 review:

This episode was also just one big Diehard reference, the real title should have been "What if... Diehard, but with superpowers"

This episode gives off such 2012 era "everyone lives in the tower" fanfics, lol. From the tower having a dedicated karaoke floor, yoga floor, gym floor and a room that has all the materials for the costumes.

Even the dynamics of all the characters such as the Steve-Tony rivalry, them doing charity work that is sometimes silly, Natasha being on mission and Thor just popping in at the end... All 2012 era Avengers fics nostalgia.

Also it seems like Tony drops all of his "interns" on Happy to deal with, man cannot catch a break when it comes to dealing with chaos children.

It's also very appropriate that the Christmas episode features Jon Favreau, lmao nice.

Justin Hammer is just a delight as always. Bro, thinks he's Tony's greatest enemy and 100% fully believes this delusion. I missed this man so much... bring him back in Iron Heart or Armor Wars (if that's still happening) please.

Side note; but Happy's "Hulk" looks like that knockoff, off brand movie "The Amazing Bulk" Which I'm pretty sure was intentional.

I also love the implication that Tony has been working on E.D.I.T.H for a long time, not just after their defeat at the hands of Thanos. Since E. D. I. T. H is a failsafe protocal if he died, he probably started working on it post battle of New York in the first Avengers movie. This man doesn't go to therapy he goes to his lab to make A.Is that are very dangerous if it got into the hands of the wrong people *cough* Mysterio *cough* Damage Control *cough*

Final Score: 8.5/10.

I know not many people like these more lighthearted episodes, but I enjoyed it all the same.

Some of the comics were just in shop windows and not really associated with a character so be careful. That is not a list of every comic the turtles have read. Like the Timely Times has only been in the background, not read by a particular turtle.

There were LOADS of shops where the shop name was in Chinese (or Japanese, I don't know) and so I couldn't list. Most of the shops by the Chinatown arch weren't in english. That's why even Murakami's shop isn't listed here. Because the actual shop name wasn't in english.

Happy 11th Anniversary, Wreck-It Ralph fandom!

It's been another year already! On this day in 2012, the first trailer for Wreck-It Ralph debuted at E3 and we got our first sneak peek into the world of Litwak's Arcade. This was the start of the movie's fandom, and where the speculation and anticipation began!

I'd also like to continue my yearly tradition of thanking all of the Wreckling friends I've made in this fandom for their support, the great times we've had together, and the outpouring of creative works we (and and WIR) have all inspired each other to make! Not to mention a big thanks to the cast and crew of the movie for making something so extremely special to me, which brought me together with good friends in continued appreciation of the characters, story, and world of the arcade.

It makes me happy to still see so much love in this fandom after all this time! Here's to us celebrating many more anniversaries together!

Introduction

So here it is, here's the book we're going to read together. I'm aware this is a Junior Novelization and is basically a book for small children, but it's interesting for SO MANY reasons so please just indulge me on my bullshit for a little while.

First of all, the fact that it's a novelization of the movie Foodfight!. I'm sure if you're reading this blog you've already heard of the movie so I'm not going to spend too much time going over the basics, but to cut a long story short, Foodfight! is a 2012 animated children's movie directed by Lawrence Kasanoff, centering around a supermarket that comes to life at night. Said city is populated by "Ikes", icons of the various brands of grocery store product e.g. Mr Clean, the California Raisins, Charlie Tuna, as well as original characters like Dex Dogtective and Daredevil Dan. In many ways, you could say this movie is like Wreck-It Ralph if it took place in a grocery store instead of an arcade. You could ALSO say this movie is like if a cartoon dog fought Nazis, poorly attempted to recrate the "La Marseillaise" scene from Casablanca, and hung around with a racist caricature played by Wayne Brady who regularly talks about wanting to ejaculate in/on various women. And all of that would be true, because this movie is crazy loco. Because of that, it's hard to imagine what it'd be like in book form, but it's interesting for other reasons too:

The film itself had a long and painful development. Originally intended to release in 2003, the release date shifted to 2006, then 2007, until it FINALLY came out in 2012. Over the years, the animation was redone so many times that it went from looking like this:

Around 2006 (one of the initial release dates for the movie) various merchandise for the movie was in development, ranging from picture books, to plush toys, to even a videogame that had a playable demo at E3 2006. The game was never released, but the picture books eventually made into stores, and the plush toys were sold off to various arcades, claw machines and carnivals as prizes. However, there's one piece of merchandise I've never seen discussed ANYWHERE online- and that's the novelization.

I found it on eBay a few weeks ago and just HAD to buy it. There were so many questions in my head right away: Why was the novelization was published in 2008, four whole years before the actual movie came out? Okay, it's probably just because the movie was planned to release around that time at one point, but how is there no other information about this anywhere online? If this was published in 2008, is there a chance it's based on an earlier version of the movie and has vast differences from the finished film? (if you can even really call the film "finished"...) The book says it contains 8 pages of color stills from the movie- again, how can that be when this was 4 years before the movie came out?

I just couldn't leave all these questions unanswered, and so here it is in my hand (next to the Daredevil Dan plush I own because I'm NORMAL about this movie), Foodfight!: The Junior Novelization. As far as I can tell, this was the ONLY copy of the book available for purchase anywhere (is it maybe even the only copy in existence? Why is this book so vague and unknowable?) so I'm really at the forefront as far as discussion of this is concerned, on account of being the only person to even know it exists. Once I'm done talking about it though, I'll be uploading the entire book to the Internet Archive so everyone can get a chance to read it themselves. But for those yearning for a page-by-page analysis comparing the novelization to the finished film, I'm your girl! Stick with me and we'll strawberry jam our way through this enigma of a book.

Looking at those scenes of Raiden’s back, they made me feeling so emotional… (they’re from the MGR E3 2012 trailer btw)

I can’t imagine what he has been through since he was only 6, especially he was manipulated and kinda abused as a child, forcing him to kill, doubting the reality and his own existence, then being experienced on and altered into a cyborg without his own will, which made me extremely sad… maybe he could have had a childhood if his parents wasn’t killed, but he didn’t even has a chance. This is dumb but I really hope he could have a wonderful childhood maybe in an alternate universe. (Idk how can a fictional character make me feeling so much and vented this much. maybe this is mental illness lmao, sorry for bad English)

Remember the Nintendo Badge Arcade? I miss the hell out of that era of the Nintendo 3DS. The Switch isn’t the same at all when it comes to portability to me. I keep that thing almost exclusively docked at all times. Meanwhile my 3DS I would even literally take with me to my job just so I could see how many Streetpasses I would get in a typical day.

For some reason I grew especially attached to the Nintendo Badge Arcade. Loved the Badge Bunny so much. Reminded me a lot of myself with his weirdly enthusiastic personality combined with being a mega dork who made the worst jokes known to man. Also the running gag of him having a crush on Swapnote Nikki was really cute.

No idea where I got this little freebie from from but I’m guessing some sort of in-store Nintendo promotional event, back when Nintendo would send out a representative to a place like Best Buy or Target and have them hang around by the Nintendo display and encourage people to try out demos of games in exchange for free swag. I still remember my pilgrimage to a Best Buy like 4 hours away from where I lived in the Summer of 2012 just so I could demo a Wii U for the first time. Or the Wii U Smash Bros. event a few years later during an E3 where I waited for like an hour and a half in a line at my local Best Buy just to play for a few minutes while constantly loading up streams on my phone of Gamespot/IGN/Nintendo’s E3 Twitch streaming coverage back when they would just have people on there hosting all day everyday to show off games and interview people right there on the E3 showfloor. I miss E3 in that manner like you wouldn’t believe. I literally treated it like the NFL Draft, used a week’s worth of paid vacation time to just watch all the streams all day (and Giant Bomb at night of course). Those really were the days.
