Eddie Diaz Masterlist
Summary: Eddie and (Y/n) are enjoying a day off with their kids, until their youngest starts to have an allergic reaction.
Enjoy.

(Y/n) danced her eyes around the garden and a smile pulled at her lips when her sights set on Eddie. She made a beeline across the garden towards him and reached out to her right to turn the radio up as she passed.
At the far right side of the garden, Evan was playing football with Isaac and James. Her brother had been entertaining the boys in a game for nearly an hour now. Then on the left near the flower beds, (Y/n) could see Chris and Bella and it looked as if the pair of them were building some Lego creations. They were perched on the grass, lots of building blocks and mini cars surrounding them, and a large puddle of water sinking them into the grass.
They had been in the pool all morning, which was exactly where (Y/n) found Eddie and Rosie.
Eddie was stretched out, sat in the paddling pool in his black trunks and a thin black vest and matching sunglasses perched on his nose. His eyes were fixed on Rosie who was heading back up the slide to skid down into the pool.
Reaching the pool, (Y/n) crouched down and looped her arms around Eddie's neck, taking him by surprise. She pressed her lips against his neck and meshed her chest up against his back, feeling the water on his skin soaking into her clothes. Not that she minded at all. (Y/n) was only wearing a tank top and some shorts, the heat this last week had been sweltering.
Eddie didn't usually wear shorts very often but he had been living in them this week and this was the first time (Y/n) had seen him wear a vest or shirt rather than just walking round the house without one.
"Hi babe," He murmured softly while he turned his head to the left to peck her temple.
"Hi, having fun?"
"I will be if you're joining." Eddie leaned his head back on (Y/n)'s shoulder as a smile lit up his face. Neither of them had been able to say no this morning when all the kids asked if they could have the pool out. The heat was too sweltering to say no. And when Evan came round to spend the day with them, it was clear they would all be in the garden until sun down.
All the kids had been in the pool this morning, Evan included. But he and the boys had decided to play a game and when Bella started to cry because she was getting splashed in the pool, (Y/n) took her out and made her have a break. She was perfectly content playing games with her eldest sibling now.
That just left Rosie in the pool so Eddie decided to join her so she wasn't sat playing alone.
"Hmm, not yet. You can watch me beat the boys in a game." (Y/n) had only just dried off from spending most of the morning sat by the pool where all the kids decided to splash her. She wasn't ready for another dip yet. She wanted to show the boys how the game was done and beat her big brother in a game.
Eddie leaned a little further so he could attach his lips to (Y/n)'s neck while he reached his hands up to hold her wrists that were loosely draped around his neck. His thumbs brushed up and down her skin and he grinned when she moved so she could capture his lips in a kiss instead.
"Go show 'em how it's done. But no injuries this time please, mi amor." Edie spoke quietly against her lips, kissing her again and again until (Y/n) was going lightheaded.
She smiled and nudged her nose against his with a knowing look in her eyes. She knew what he was referring to.
"I wasn't the one who broke Isaac's finger, now was I?"
"I seem to recall you almost knocking yourself out though. Be careful."
Eddie had already warned Evan about playing football or basketball or any similar game with the boys. Evan had been playing basketball out on the front with Chris, Isaac and James a few months ago and they all had a collision which broke Isaac's index finger. They didn't want another trip down to the emergency room with broken bones.
And the last time (Y/n) joined in and beat the boys in a game, she fell and whacked her head against the car, almost passing out. At least here in the back garden, it was safer with the grass rather than any concrete, it would be a softer landing for any accidents. The back garden was more private and secluded as well which was a bonus.
"I will, I promise." With a lasting kiss to his lips, (Y/n) pushed his glasses higher up on his nose before she unravelled from him and headed over to the rest of her boys.
"Mum, are you playing?" Isaac looked to the right when (Y/n) walked over to the three of them.
She grinned when Evan planted his hands down on his hips and looked at her with that wide smirk that showed he was going to up the anti if she was joining in.
"Will you be on my team?" James reached out and took (Y/n)'s hand, looking up at her with those doe eyes that made her heart melt. James was the twin that always clung to (Y/n), whereas Rosie would attach herself to Eddie. He was only six and he wasn't as good at playing as Isaac was, who was eight and was taking football classes at school. But James knew if their mum played and he was on her team, he had a good chance of winning.
"Course I will."
"Daddy, look."
Eddie slouched down against the edge of the pool and tilted his head to the left to look across at Bella. The toddler was holding out a rather odd shaped Lego piece that he couldn't work out or guess what it was supposed to be. But the way she smiled at him softened his heart and made him nod.
"Clever girl," His approval made her giggle and she set down her masterpiece so she could make something else.
Being in the pool was the perfect place for Eddie, it allowed him to look all around the garden and keep an eye on his troop. Two were with (Y/n) and Evan, two were building random creations and one was now sat between his legs splashing some cups and rubber ducks around.
He could see Chris had started to build a tower that was almost the same height as him and he looked proud. Eddie just prayed Bella wouldn't decide to knock it down or else Chris would have a meltdown, but he was sure she wouldn't. Bella seemed to listen to Chris. She might try and wind up the boys or mess and play with Rosie, but she was rather attached to her eldest sibling.
Tilting his head down, Eddie looked down at Rosie in curiosity when she roughly carded her fingers through her long hair. He had started to call her Rapunzel with how long she wanted to grow her hair.
When she tossed her curls back over her shoulder, he straightened up and slowly started to gather up her hair and move it behind her ears.
"Plat?" She mumbled softly, tilting her head back to look up at Eddie who smiled and nodded.
He had grown very good at styling and platting Rosie's hair over the years. He never had to think about hairstyles before Rosie. When Eddie was with Shannon, they only had Chris who just needed his curls cutting and brushing a lot. Then when he and (Y/n) got together, they had Isaac so Eddie didn't have to consider hairstyles.
Finally, when the twins were born, they had James and Rosie and Eddie finally had a little girl. If Rosie wanted her hair styling for something special, she always went to (Y/n). But for school or simple days out or just when she wanted some attention from Eddie, Rosie always got him to do her hair.
And now they had Bella, Eddie could start styling her hair soon. She was only two so the most he would do was gather her hair up into a bobble in the middle of her head so it looked like an antenna sticking up. Eddie thought it was cute, Bella always reminded him of Cindy-Lou from The Grinch with her hair stuck up in a ponytail like she had today.
Rosie smiled and closed her eyes, staying patiently still while Eddie wet his hands and started to drag them through her hair to make it easier. Once he was finished, he kissed her temple and wrapped his arms around her middle, keeping her cuddled into his chest.
"Beautiful," He whispered against her hair while he looked ahead and watched (Y/n) land another goal past Isaac.
Rosie giggled when Eddie started to sway them from side to side and she planted her hands down in the water, splashing the water up at them. When Eddie kissed her cheek, she wriggled around in his arms so she was facing him and pushed up. She deadlocked her arms around his neck and leaned onto his chest with her cheek on his shoulder.
Reaching across from him, Chris put down the piece in his hand and gently flopped his hand onto Bella's just as she went to put a small piece of Lego in her mouth.
"Don't eat it, tinkerbell." He shook his head and looked across at his dad just to make sure he hadn't seen that. He knew Eddie would tell Bella to get back in the pool and stop playing if she was going to do that.
Chris remembered when Isaac had been little, he had been playing with some toy cars and choked on a broken piece of one he had been chewing. He could still see the panic on his mum's face and he remembered his dad having to do the hymelic on Isaac.
He watched Bella stand up and paddle across the damp grass until she could flop down next to Chris. Her head slumped on his arm and she started to mess around with the Lego again.
"Mummy winning," She muttered as she glanced around the garden.
"Uncle Buck will win." Chris looked back down at her with a smile, she looked like she was getting bored, and he was tired of playing too. He wanted to go back in the pool and he knew Bella might too since Eddie was in there at the moment. If she looked up and saw him cuddling Rosie, she might get jealous and run over to join in.
Bella began swaying from side to side, not doing much in particular with any of the building blocks in front of her that she was tired with. But her doe eyes widened and she leaned onto Chris's lap when she saw something land on his Lego tower.
"Bumble bee," Chris mused while he gently shook his tower to make the bee move. He didn't particularly like them after being stung quite a few times over the years.
They both watched it flutter around in front of them but Chris felt Bella jump beside him when it landed on her arm. The touch was so quick, so sudden that neither of them had time to move or react before it stung Bella's arm and swept off into the sky and disappeared.
Bella didn't seem to know how to react.
She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry out for Eddie and flap her arms and throw a fit because it hurt. Her arm felt like it had been stabbed and she didn't understand what had happened or what it had done to her.
But all she could do was gasp. Her arms began to wave and flap at her sides like she was pretending to be a bird taking flight. Her eyes started to water and go red like she had scratched them to ribbons. But her throat was the worst; it was starting to swell up. She couldn't breathe properly, she could barely scream, all she could do was make horrid gasping sounds that caught Chris's attention.
"Dad! Mum, Bella can't breathe!"
(Y/n) stumbled over the football and looked across at Chris with a frown, but as soon as she looked at Bella, her breath got caught in her throat. She hurried behind Evan who reached out to hold the boys and she went down on her knees next to Chris. Her arms reached out for Bella and she picked her up, settling the toddler down on her lap.
Was she choking? Had she tried to eat or chew on the Lego pieces? She didn't have a drink or any food nearby that she would have been eating.
But when her eyes landed on Bella's right arm, she went rigid. It was swelling up. Just up from her wrist, her arm was starting to swell and felt hard to the touch like it was a tyre being overfilled with air. "Eddie!"
Eddie leaned forwards and settled Rosie down in the middle of the pool when he realised something was happening on the other side of the garden. He bolted up to his feet and clambered out of the pool, dripping wet as he jogged barefoot across the grass.
The moment he slumped down to his knees, (Y/n) turned Bella on her lap to face him just as the toddler made a horrible, wheezing scream.
"What happened?"
"A bee stung her."
"A bee? Definitely a bee?" Eddie looked at Chris with a frown before he looked back down at his youngest. The only one who had ever been stung by a bee was Chris and he only ever got a small rash from it. He was the only kid with severe allergies, Isaac and Rosie had mild hayfever but that was it. "Baby, baby look at me, it's alright, stay still."
He reached over and pressed his fingertips beneath her chin, tilting her head back so he could feel her throat and see it she was breathing. Her airways were closing up. Her throat was tightening, the muscles were swelling and clamping together.
Bella continued to flap her arms and wriggled around on (Y/n)'s lap until she was almost laid out on the floor in her panic. Tears streamed freely down her face, her legs kicked out at Eddie, catching him in the abdomen as she tried to pull her knees up to her tummy to make her feel better somehow.
Her arms hit out at (Y/n) and brushed her face as her lips parted and her jaw trembled. She was trying to scream but she couldn't. She couldn't cry or make a sound or catch a proper breath and her efforts were futile and turning her inner lips blue.
"Isaac go grab Chris's EpiPen from the medicine cupboard. Now!" Eddie clicked his fingers and pointed towards the house until the eight year old bolted from the garden.
Eddie ripped the glasses from his nose and launched them somewhere behind him before he reached out and held Bella's swelling arm. He kept tight hold of her hand, clenching it in his fist to try and keep her arm steady while he moved his right hand over her swollen arm. His lips pressed together firmly and he waited for (Y/n) to hold Bella still before he moved.
"I'm sorry baby, stay still, please." He hushed while he squeezed her arm which made Bella thrash out horrible and smash her tiny feet into his stomach. Eddie squeezed harder, as much as he could until the broken sting from the bee came out of her arm.
He couldn't leave it in because she was clearly allergic and her body was going to keep reacting to the sting if it stayed in her arm. Once it was out, Eddie tossed it on the grass and moved to sit Bella up on his lap instead with his hands rubbing up and down her chest and back.
Her eyes screwed shut tight and she tried to flop forward onto Eddie's arm when she couldn't breathe at all.
"Baby go to Buck for me please," (Y/n) gave Chris's hand a squeeze and pointed behind her. He didn't need to sit and watch this, she could see the panic in his eyes and the way he was stimming his hand against his thigh said he was worried. He bashed his hand down on the grass but did as he was asked and scrambled over to Evan.
Both Chris and James stood on either side of Evan while Rosie scrambled from the pool and joined them where Evan picked her up when he noticed she was crying.
"I- I got it! Dad I got it!" Isaac panted and gasped as he bolted as fast as he could across the grass, skidding barefoot in the wet mud until he could slump down against (Y/n) and thrust the pen at his dad.
Eddie grabbed the EpiPen with haste and held it up, praying it was full and in date. His eyes briefly looked across at (Y/n) who was close to tears. None of the kids ever had reactions apart from Chris and they were always quick to treat him and know what was wrong. Bella was only two, she'd never had any reaction to anything before and now she wasn't breathing.
He tightly bound his left arm around Bella's waist, pulling her back into his chest so he could lean over her. He took off the cap and jabbed the needle into Bella's right leg, pushing the button firmly until all the adrenaline was administered.
They both hated the way Bella jumped and squirmed. Her face scrunched up and her lips curled and parted into a silent howling look that made tears fall down (Y/n)'s face.
Reaching over, (Y/n) gently cupped Bella's face and tilted her head back so she could look down at her. She was gasping. She was trying to breathe again, but (Y/n) could feel her throat was swollen and her lips were starting to turn a very worrying shade of blue on her inner lips.
"Eddie her throat's swelling up."
He dropped the EpiPen and pressed his palm flat on Bella's chest, trying to feel how deeply she was breathing, but it wasn't good.
She couldn't hold her head up. Her body seemed to turn to jelly and when she crumpled over onto Eddie's lap, (Y/n) saw the fire burning deep within his eyes.
"She's going to hospital, now. Buck, can you watch the kids?"
"Yeah, yeah go." Evan nodded rapidly while he swayed Rosie from left to right and rubbed his hand up and down her back. He could stay here with the rest of the kids and look after them while (Y/n) and Eddie took Bella to the hospital.
"Go get my phone and the car keys." Eddie turned Bella around in his arms and leaned her on his chest, securing her with one arm while he reached his other hand out for (Y/n). He held her elbow and helped her up before he nudged her towards the house and watched her bolt inside. "Stay with uncle Buck and be good."
"No, we wanna come-"
"Chris, you can't come with us, she's gonna be fine just… stay here, please." Leaning over, Eddie kissed Chris's temple and looked between Isaac and James before he turned and headed inside. He couldn't bring them all the kids down to the emergency room. It wouldn't be safe or fair and they had to go and focus on Bella. It was better for the kids to stay home with Evan and wait for them to come back.
Once he got inside, Eddie hastily grabbed the closest pair of shoes he had and slipped them on, regardless of how wet and bare his feet were. He didn't have time to change.
He found Bella's bag in the hall that they used when they were going out and he slung it on his shoulder as he bolted out the front door and over to the jeep. The back door was already open, (Y/n) was inside with her arms out ready.
"You got her?" He eased Bella down into her carseat and let (Y/n) strap her in while he climbed in the driver's seat.
His lips curled in distaste and he growled and shimmied around. He was sopping wet. His vest was sticking to his chest, his trunks were baggy and weighed down and sticking to his thighs and now the seat was damp. Not to mention his feet were slipping around in his shoes that were squelching. But he didn't care. He had to drive down to the hospital now or risk delaying Bella and making her worse.
"Bella, baby come on… wake up baby." (Y/n) kissed Bella's temple and brushed her fingers through her thin hair that was falling out of her ponytail.
She was slumped in her seat, arms limp at her sides and her head leant up against the side of the seat. Her throat and lips were still swollen just like her arm that was oozing and bleeding from the sting wound and she was breathing fast and shallow.
(Y/n) wrapped her arm around Bella's front and kept her lips against the top of her head.
The moment Eddie pulled up, (Y/n) unclipped Bella and swaddled her up against her chest. She felt Bella's head slump into the crook of her neck so she could feel each shallow, wheezing breath she took which made her throat croaky and her nose started to run.
The toddler stayed limp in her arms and (Y/n) ran her hand up and down the lilac swim suit she was wearing that was dotted with pink and blue flowers.
"Alright mi amor, off we go."
When Eddie opened the back door, (Y/n) shuffled over to get out while Eddie's hands found her arms and he helped her out. He curved an arm around her waist, tucking (Y/n) into his chest while he reached inside the back and found one of Rosie's blankets on the floor and a towel.
He wrapped the blanket around Bella and over (Y/n)'s arms and shoulders and started dragging the towel up and down his legs as they hurried inside. He was leaving a trail from the jeep down to the emergency room doors and he knew he looked a sight. Dripping wet wearing trunks and a vest and sopping wet trainers.
(Y/n) gently bounced her arms up and down, moving Bella around like she was trying to get her to sleep instead of trying to wake her up. She pressed her lips to the top of Bella's head and stayed leaning into Eddie. She didn't care how damp he was, (Y/n) just wanted comfort.
"Who have we got?"
"Bella Diaz, she's had a severe reaction to a bee sting. I gave her an adrenaline auto-injector but she's gone unconscious. She's only two." Eddie kept his left hand on (Y/n)'s hip and moved his other hand to her shoulder so he could lean over and look at Bella.
"Take a seat."
It was a relief when the receptionist got up and promptly disappeared. Eddie knew what that meant. It meant she was going to fetch the doctor herself and they shouldn't have to wait long for someone to see to them.
(Y/n) leaned her head on Eddie's shoulder when they sat down and she watched him brush his thumb across Bella's cheek. She was still wheezing and gasping, but when she murmured, (Y/n) felt a spark of relief.
"Bella Diaz." They were waved across to a doctor in the corridor, they had barely been sat down for a minute. "Bring her through."
(Y/n) felt Eddie's hands on her hips and his lips pressed against the back of her head as they wandered down the corridor and through into a small cubicle on the left. They headed over to the bed and gently laid Bella down, propping her up against (Y/n)'s chest as the doctor stood on the opposite side of the bed.
"Has she had reactions before?" The doctor found a stethoscope and listened to her heart before he listened to her breathing and gently started to feel her throat and peer into her mouth.
"No, never."
"I gave her an auto-injector and she started breathing again, but she passed out five or six minutes ago. I got the bee sting out too, it came out in one."
When the doctor gave Eddie a pointed look, (Y/n) softly added "He's a medic." Eddie knew what he was doing, he wasn't clueless or trying to play the hero, this was his daily life when he was at work. He just didn't think he would have to do this sort of thing at home with any of the kids.
"Let's get some oxygen into her system first."
(Y/n) smoothed her hand up and down Bella's arm while the doctor placed an oxygen mask over her nose and lips to boost her system.
"I'm going to put her on a drip and add some adrenaline into it to help keep her throat from closing up again." When they nodded, the doctor headed out the room to go and grab what he needed.
Eddie moved round and leaned his arm down on the end of the bed in front of Bella when she started to murmur and turn her head. He carefully took the oxygen mask off for her when she started to move and bat her hands about. He could of cried in relief that she was now starting to wake up but he rolled his lips together when she flopped her head forward and threw up.
"Oh, baby." He sighed, cupping the back of her neck so he could kiss the top of her head.
They were going to be here a while.
***
"They're home!"
(Y/n) held her breath when Isaac and Chris bolted over to the door and practically took it from her hand and swung it open. She let the pair of them barrell into her and wrap around her like vines. She looped an arm around each of them and walked further into the hall, stooped over to be level with the boys.
"Where's Bella?" Isaac leaned around to look behind (Y/n) and he and Chris watched impatiently as Eddie followed them inside and closed the door behind him.
He had finally dried off, his trunks were dried and crinkling around his thighs, his vest was glued to his chest and his hair was now askew and spiked up at odd angles. But in his arms, Eddie had his youngest cuddled into his chest.
Bella wasn't in heer swim costume anymore, she was wearing a teddybear onesie that (Y/n) had found in her backpack Eddie brought with them. Her hair was out of the bobble and framed near her cheeks that were puffy. Her head was curled up on Eddie's shoulder, her arms were around his neck and her knees were pulled up and resting on the centre of his chest.
"Let's go sit down." (Y/n) looked behind her at Eddie who looked as washed out as she felt. He was rubbing his eyes with his free hand and looked as if he could drop down and sleep right here and now.
She guided the boys into the living room but her lips quirked into a surprised smile when she saw who was here.
"Hi," Leaning over, (Y/n) wrapped her arms around her big sister and gave her a hug.
"Hi. Buck rang and told me what happened, thought I'd come over and help with the team." Maddie knew Evan would be able to cope with the kids on his own, but she thought it might he helpful to come round anyway. And all four kids were anxious without their parents here and after seeing Bella go unconscious, they were very panicked.
(Y/n) slumped down on the sofa and smiled tiredly when the twins moved over so one of them was tucked under each arm. She kissed the top of their heads and watched her husband trail into the room, bouncing Bella up and down on his chest.
"Hey little lady… how'd it go?" Maddie stood up from the armchair and moved in front of Eddie. She brushed Bella's slightly puffy cheek and smiled sadly at her. None of the kids had ever had a bad reaction like that before. Even Chris with his EpiPen never had such a horrid reaction to anything.
It was a good job Chris did have his allergies, none of them wanted to speculate what would of happened if they didn't have the adrenaline on standby and would have to wait for an ambulance.
Bella tiredly opened her eyes and managed a smile when she noticed who it was stood in front of her. She moved her hand to hold Maddie's outstretched hand, but she didn't move away from Eddie. She had been attached to him since she woke up and wouldn't let him put her down.
"Three hours of Hell. Adrenaline and fluids on a drip that she took out- twice. An inhaler she hated, to get her chest open. Antihistamines, meds for the swelling and now we have two EpiPens just for her."
The way Eddie's upper lip curled in distaste told all.
They had to stay in observation to make sure she didn't have another reaction and ensure she was actually alright. The drip got fluids back into her system and the extra adrenaline got her breathing normally, as did the steroids in the inhaler that opened her airways again. Her throat dulled back down, the meds set her body back in order. And now they had two EpiPens especially for Bella in case this happened again.
They also had an appointment at the doctors next week to do some tests and check there wasn't anything else Bella might be severely allergic to.
"Oh dear, poor baby, do you wanna cuddle?" Maddie held her hands out and Eddie bent down at the knees to try and ease Bella over to her.
She was usually very happy to be around her auntie and cling to Maddie, especially if Maddie took the kids out anywhere. Bella would insist on being carried around and Maddie and Evan always obliged. But today, she wasn't happy.
As soon as Maddie's hands found her waist and Eddie let go, she screamed. It ended in a cough as her throat was still dry and sore and her chest ached, but she screamed until her eyes were watering and her body was starting to shake.
Eddie's shoulders dropped and he sighed, quickly scooping her back up so she could burrow into his neck and sniff and gulp for air.
"Buck, do me a favour and sit there, I've needed the toilet for two hours." Eddie pointed across to the sofa and Evan knew what he was going to do.
He sat down and stretched his arms out while Eddie sat on the edge of the sofa next to him and leaned back, wedging himself between James and Evan. Eddie swayed from side to side and shifted Bella around while she kept her eyes closed and tried to stay snuggled into him.
Her lips quirked into a smile when Eddie lifted her up in the air, then brought her down and kissed her cheek. And when he lifted her again, Evan quickly took her and settled her down on his chest. She kept her eyes closed and snuggled into Evan who ran his hand up and down her back.
It wouldn't matter very much if Bella realised she was now with her uncle, not her dad. She was attached to both of them and she would settle for Evan almost as quickly as she would for her dad.
As soon as she was out of his arms, Eddie hopped up and made his way to the bathroom. For the last two hours in observation he needed to go but Bella wouldn't let him out of her sight. Even when (Y/n) tried to go get a drink, Bella screamed. She wanted both parents to stay and give her their attention so that's what they had done.
"What does it mean, to have an allergy?" Rosie looked up at (Y/n) before she wiggled from under her arm and moved to sit with Maddie. She had stayed with her aunt for the last two hours since she had arrived.
Maddie smiled and let her niece hop up on the chair with her and she bound her arms around Rosie's middle, letting her lean back into her chest.
And Chris went and took Rosie's space next to (Y/n) so she had him and James snuggled down into her sides. And Isaac sat on the floor in between Evan's legs, looking up at him with a tired smile and he reached his hand up to gently wiggle Bella's foot.
"It's when your body panics because of certain things, like a bee or certain foods. It can give you a rash or make it hard to breathe, like with Bella."
"What was in the injection dad gave her?" James snuggled his head into (Y/n)'s stomach and closed his eyes, he was tired but he was still paying attention.
After their parents left, he had tried to pick up the EpiPen and take it into the kitchen but Evan told him not to. He didn't want him touching the needle, it needed to go in the bin.
"Adrenaline, it helps with shock. Dad will show you how to use it later, for emergencies." (Y/n) began carding her fingers through James's hair while she felt Chris latch his arms around her upper chest and lean on her shoulder.
Now this had happened, they were going to have to show the kids how to use the EpiPen in case this happened again. Chris already knew and Isaac vaguely knew what to do, but he had to be shown again and the twins needed to know. Bella would now have to get used to having it in her backpack whenever they took her out for emergencies.
Bella snuggled her face more into Evan's neck who grinned and kissed the top of her head and began rubbing his hand up and down her back. He slouched further down into the sofa until he was barely sitting up and his knees cocooned around Isaac and bumped into the coffee table.
When she lifted her right arm and started to whimper and murmur, Evan gently held her wrist and rolled up her sleeve. Her arm was still swollen and it had been bandaged after the doctor applied some cream.
"Ooh, poor tinkerbell." He cooed quietly and kissed her bandage but he raised a brow and looked between his sisters when Bella suddenly realised the voice change. She tilted her head back and tiredly looked up at Evan with a frown. He wasn't the one she was expecting. Her lips curved down and she started to whimper but when Evan just smiled brightly down at her and kissed her temple, she stopped and flopped her head back down on his chest.
"Here you go, baby." Eddie wandered back into the living room and leaned over the back of the sofa to hand down Bella's pacifier. They hadn't given her the one in her back pack earlier because she still hadn't been breathing well and she was gasping. But now her breathing was back to normal again and she wasn't wheezing. It would help her sleep too.
She tiredly took it from him and just like Eddie expected, she shuffled up Evan's chest and clambered over his shoulder to reach up for her dad. Evan leaned his head to the side, supressing a groan as his hand stayed on Bella's back to keep her steady until Eddie scooped her up.
Eddie flopped down into the other armchair opposite Maddie and settled Bella on his chest. He leaned his head on his free hand while his other arm curved around her back and he pressed his lips to the top of her head.
"Dad?"
"Hm?" He tried to keep his eyes open and looked over at James who was now laid out on (Y/n)'s lap. She had Chris practically laying on her chest, Evan now had Isaac sat on his knees and Maddie was cuddled up with Rosie. The kids were all attached to someone.
"Are we allergic too, like Chris and Bella?" Now they had seen Bella have a reaction, and they all knew the few things like nuts and certain cleaning products and soaps that Chris was allergic to. It made them wonder if Isaac, James or Rosie were also allergic to anything.
"I bloody hope not."

At first Eddie swears is an accident— or more like, he didn't have many options and it just sorta happened.
He's been having a crazy week, with long shifts and then helping Chris with homework and taking him to therapy sessions, hang outs with friends and doctor appointments. Eddie barely had time for himself and maybe he let some things slip through the cracks— like doing laundry.
The pile of dirty clothes bigger than Eddie would've liked and containing the majority of his tshirts and hoodies.
So really, when he sees Buck's hoodies laying on the back of the couch... well, he doesn't have anything else to wear and Buck wouldn't mind, right? They started dating a few weeks ago and this is what boyfriends do anyway, right? Share clothes?
Eddie puts on Buck's hoodie— it's the oversized blue one that's really soft and warm and it smells like Buck. He can't help smiling as he smooths it over with his hands.
And that's the exact moment that Buck walks through the door. He's rambling about a woman at the grocery store or something but stops on his tracks and gets this lovesick look on his face as he stares at Eddie.
"Hey, isn't that mine?" Buck asks as he leaves his keys on the counter and then snags Eddie by the waist.
Eddie moves to wrap his arms around Buck's neck and shrugs. "Maybe it is."
Buck laughs, catching Eddie's lips with his. And maybe it doesn't matter at all that Eddie stole Buck's hoodie, because his boyfriend certainly doesn't seem to care about it.
"When do we have to pick up Chris from Austin's house?"
"We have time." Eddie murmurs against his boyfriend's lips. "Like... an hour, at least."
"Perfect." Buck mutters and kisses him again as they clumsily make their way to the bedroom.
A week later, he catches Buck wearing Eddie's hoodie from the army and smiles to himself— a wave of fondness and possesiveness washing over him.
Yeah, he could definitely get used to sharing clothes.

you rule my heart (I am your royal slave) E
Looking around the balcony, Eddie sees a blanket and pillows on one of the chairs.“Wait for me a second”, Eddie kisses Buck’s birthmark and moves to make them a comfortable place on the floor of the balcony.He lays a blanket and puts all the pillows so that they have a good place for everything that happens next and to rest after.“Want to see your face. On your back here. Legs spread as wide as you can.”Eddie sits on his knees on the soft blanket, waiting till Buck finds the best position for him.Lord spreads his legs and even gets them up, holding himself open for Kind’s desires.“I love you so much,” kiss on the big thigh and King puts his hands on the soft skin of Lord’s legs. Squeezing incredible things, he starts to push inside his lover, splitting him open with his cock. He goes deep inch by inch, not wanting to make his lover feel anything other than love and satisfaction. or King Eddie and his Lord Buckley au. or buddie royal au with balcony sex
I am burning in your love
E / 7849 words “You are so beautiful, Your Majesty,” Buck kisses long neck, licking the sweat already forming here, not understanding how even this can be so perfect in his lover, so sweet and salty at the same time. “So beautiful and all mine,” Buck bites the collarbone right above the scar from the wound that almost took away his happiness two years ago. He loves to claim his man no less than his King loves to remind him to whom he belongs and serves. Lord Buckley is the slave of his King, always and forever. “No more than you, my soul,” Eddie uses his hand on his neck, putting just enough pressure on his diamond necklace, to make Buck feel dizzy from remembering that he wears the evidence of his King’s love, his claim of his lord on his body, everyday. Proudly showing it off to everyone, even if only some people know it was not just a present from the King to his best advisor. or, lord Buckley and King Eddie have fun times in the trone hall
I love you (all the ways possible)
T / 8811 words “I love you,” Buck says softly with his eyes closed and a smile, enjoying the aftertaste of the first sip, but then he abruptly opens his eyes and turns to the shocked Eddie. “I-I mean like a friend. Platonically. You - you my best friend, Eddie. And I never had one. I’m sorry if it’s strange. It’s probably strange. I'm just, you know, a really emotional person and …” “I love you too, man,” Eddie cuts his explanations that were already turning into panic. or, 5 times Buck and Eddie say "I love you" platonically, 1 time Buck says it and Eddie doesn't know it's not platonic, 1 time Eddie says it and Buck doesn't know it's not platonic, and 1 time they both now it's not platonic
Don’t spoil him because you feeling guilty (just love him how you really mean it) G 4,321 words
“First of all, if I remember right, two months ago you were too old to have plushies,” Eddie points, looking at his son. He even portrays how Chris said it to him, which causes Chris to roll his eyes in response. “Don't roll your eyes, Christopher Diaz. Secondly, we agreed that since I'm buying you the fancy console you dreamed of, you don't ask for anything else for a whole month, do you?” Christopher sighs but nods in agreement. Eddie can't help but smile at how cute his son looks and raises his head to share this moment with Buck, who is not standing next to them. Eddie almost starts to panic when he sees Buck at the checkout. He returns a minute later and hands the penguin to Chris, who lights up brighter than the sun. or, 5 times Eddie tries to understand why Buck spoils Chris more than ever after his coma, and 1 time Buck tells him why
I was always in front of you  G 2131 words
“Do you want to help me find a new couch?” “I thought you needed to choose the couch yourself?” Eddie wants to slap himself. Buck opened his heart in the hope that Eddie will understand him, and Eddie asks this question. But Buck smiles brightly. “Yes, that’s the point. I`m going to do it. I just would like some opinions from my partner. It’s not like you would choose for me. And I want an opinion from Chris,” Buck says and looks at Eddie like he should understand what he means and wait. But Eddie can’t fully tell or better say scared to hope what Buck means so another man helps him. “We can buy a couch together. Three of us,” Buck emphasizes the last part. And Eddie thinks he can’t breathe. He smiles bright and hopefully but he needs to be sure they both understand what it means correctly. “Like a family?” Eddie asks and hears how behind Chris comes to the kitchen. or, Eddie comes to see Buck after hospital, helps him to deliver Kameron's baby. then they have movie night with Chris, choose couch together and finally goes on a date Or, how they could end 6x18
I need to be here (with you in darkness of your mind)
buddie / G / 3255 words
“Do you feel it?” Eddie takes deep breaths, trying to make his breath way notable for Buck to feel it. “My chest is moving. I’m breathing,” then something hits Eddie. One little thing about Buck’s coma his friend told him being shy admitting it. Eddie never felt so happy to know he never was in Buck’s coma dream. “I’m here. With you. In the real world.” or Buck has a breakdown during the night on the first year anniversary of his death. Eddie helps him deal with it.
You always was a ghost around me (I want to keep you in our memory) T 3137
Tears were streaming down his face without his control, and Buck let them. He allowed himself this moment to break like a year ago when he first realized why this day every year in his family was such a way it was. Why did Buck always feel empty and sad, why did he hear how Maddie and mother and even father cried. Why his parents were especially absent on that day. The answer is: that day is forever recorded as Daniel's birthday, but he had too little of them. He cried and cried until the candles were about half the size, then Buck blew them out, but before doing that, he looked up and said. “I’m sorry. I'm so sorry. You should have more time. We should have more time. I wish I could help you, big brother.” Or, for three years Buck deals with grief of loosing Daniel alone at Daniel's birthday, and fourth time he is not alone anymore.
We are family (let`s buy pajamas to prove it) G 1787 words
A week. Eddie tried to find the perfect way to ask Buck to marry him for a week. It should be something cute and romantic, but also something only for them.Big romantic gestures are amazing,but Eddie feels like he needs it to be something quiet and domestic. So while Buck has a shift without him, he searches for the best idea on the Internet. But the last two hours gave him nothing except anxiety. “Dad!” Chris` scream near his ear scares him, and he almost drops his laptop. Chris smiles at it. “I called you five times. What are you doing?” the boy sits near him and tries to look at his screen. or Eddie and Chris propose to Buck with cute pajamas
kiss as a 'yes' T 1006 words
lazy morning when Buck asks Eddie to marry him
I wanna be yours E 6061
They both just melt into a kiss, enjoying the taste of each other's lips. It's a deep kiss that sends chills down Buck's spine. Eddie literally devours him with his mouth, and Buck doesn't even try to resist. But they both need to breathe, so they separate to get some air, but after a few seconds Eddie joins their lips again, pushing Buck to the counter in the center of the kitchen, so he hits his back pretty hard, but blue-eyed can't care more about a small bruise while Eddie presses him into the counter and kiss Buck like he's a water source, and Eddie is madly thirsty. or, after poker smut fic
We have time (let's use all of it) teen and up 5676 words
“You smile like an idiot right now. And speaks like you happy Eddie is not here,” so Chim heard it. “Which is a surprise for me because I thought you would prefer to spend time with him. He is your best friend.” “I would prefer not to be trapped with anyone at all,” Buck says with sadness in his voice . He doesn't like the idea that someone from his family is in danger. And he doesn't like the inability to do something about it. And he doesn't want to be in danger either. “And I am actually happy Eddie is not here. I hate seeing him in pain or in danger. Also one of us always should be ok to go home to Chris. And I always will do anything for it to be Eddie,” he doesn't want to die. And he doesn't want Eddie to die either. He wants to live with Eddie, but he would always choose Eddie over himself. or, 6x18 spec fic
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go 1k words G
Buck and Eddie watch Eddie's favourite telenovela, have pillow fight and then have first kiss
I was scared to love you before but not now G 1131 words
“EDDIE,” Buck calls the most important person in his life, as it seems to him, quietly in order not to distract other people, but everyone who does not make calls turns sharply to him, not that Buck cares about it. He only cares about Eddie who is looking at him and quickly approaches him. “Buck, what’s wrong? Why are you here? Wait, why are you so dirty?”Eddie's voice washes over Buck with love and care as he has never felt from anyone else. “Is that blood on your hand? God, Buck, Hen checked you? You need to go to the hospital. I swear to god, Buck if you hide something…” “I love you, Eddie,” Buck says it so fast that he's not sure if he himself had time to understand what he said. It's just that Eddie is so handsome and caring and he’s here, and Buck knows that Eddie is not even angry, but he's just scared and worried. Worried about him. or,Buck has close call last shift before Eddie's return to 118 and runs to the dispatch to tell Eddie about his feelings. Set after 5b
normal again?
G / 1041 words Buck and Eddie talk in the gym about what happened at the cruise call
kiss in a rush of adrenaline 927 words G
Buck doesn’t know exactly why he did it, except that he wanted to try the taste of Eddie's lips from the moment he first time smiled at him and when he saw him so close after they get out of the fire the moment before the whole building exploded, he just leaned in closer to Eddie and joined their lips in a kiss, feeling how adrenaline boils in his blood. For a second, the whole world went quiet and Buck found out what paradise tasted like until he realized that Eddie wasn't responding.
Showers and pranks T 2k words
Chimney Han is not the guy who seeks revenge. But his brother-in-law crossed all boundaries a week ago. Because of him, Chim walked around with his hands looking like he killed a smurf for a week. And all this week he thought out a plan of revenge. Chim knows how Buck loves his hair, the blue-eyed guy spends hundreds of dollars on his hair products. And that's why now Chim is pouring hair bleach into Buck's shampoo bottle while Hen distracts Buck and Eddie, and Ravi makes sure no one goes into the locker room, where Chim is hiding in the far corner, from where he is not visible through the glass walls. When he's done, he puts the shampoo back in Buck's bag and quickly leaves the crime scene. Chim hears Eddie and Buck saying goodbye to everyone, while he checks the equipment in the ambulance and can't hide his sly grin. He can't wait to see Buck tomorrow.
Eternity in your hands ao3 G 639 words
Buck, Eddie and their newborn daughter
show me your scars(so i can love them too) T 1085 words
Eddie never was insecure about the way he looks. He knew he was attractive. He knew people would find him hot. Shannon always made comments about how he could easily make a career in modeling or acting just because of his look. The thing that he liked to work out helped too.  He also had pretty much a lot of things to be insecure about, more meaningful like being a bad son, not mature enough, not masculine enough, not a good husband, awful dad, and so on. So Eddie never felt insecure about his body.
your hands keep me warm G 959 words
Buck always is cold. As much as he remembers he always needed hoodies or jackets when most of his friends would prefer to wear T-shirts. But he wasn’t like them. His hands are always cold and his feets freezing when it's even a little bit chilly. So he tries to never leave the house without a hoodie or sweater to keep him warm, and for being at home he has a huge collection of comfortable, warm, and super soft hoodies and warm fluffy socks of all the possible colors, and a collection of tea which takes whole cupboard in his kitchen. Buck likes to keep himself warm. Especially because either way he wouldn’t be able to rest and sleep normally till he's warm and he can super easily catch a cold. Eddie still laughs a lot the moment Buck starts to have a runny nose and sore throat when he was cold for less than twenty minutes.
The story about plushies and love G 937 words
“Evan Diaz, if you buy one more plush to occupy my spot on the bed I'm kicking you out to sleep on the couch”, Eddie`s voice pulls Buck out of the trance, as the older man approaches him with a little bit annoyed expression and with his arms crossed on his chest. Buck has been standing at this stand with plushies for at least ten minutes. He can't decides which one he wants more. Cute little penguin or light pink rabbit. They both are so cute and soft, but Buck is almost pretty sure he has if not the same rabbit then really close to this one, but he definitely doesn't have any penguins. But it's offensive that his husband thinks he can buy plushies ONLY for himself.
Buck has scars on his face after tsunami
bad days(I'm not alone) G 654 words
It is a bad day. Just a bad day with a series of sad and bad events before it. It all just takes all the energy out of your body, and one day waking up you just can’t get up from the bed. That’s just a bad day that Buck is ready to spend under a blanket cause after he tried to make himself breakfast and cried after not wanting to choose anything he decided it’s better to just rest and try to recharge energy from a lazy day in bed without anything, even his phone. Just bed, pillow, blanket, and his sad tired body in the silence of his loft. Buck can’t even say which of the events of the last days led him to this not physical but deep in his mind exhaustion, and really he doesn’t want to try to understand. Just shut his brain for a day and not think about anything bigger than how comfy his little nest is. A warm blanket covers his big body, hiding him from everything, from all the problems and sadness, and coldness of life outside. He can just be here in emptiness alone and rest. or Buck start his bad day alone, but he doesn't alone for long
Little something about Bobby's opinion about Mag and Phi. Or Bobby hate Buckley parents and he is not alone
Buck and forgotten medicine G 271 words

fuck it friday
i’m pretending its still friday. here’s some of my new WIP (affectionately titled Unhinged Buck) for y’all because it’s all i can think about rn!!
Eddie presses up behind him, hand splayed against his back. The edges of Buck’s vision are blurry, and he thinks Eddie might be holding him up, keeping his body from sinking down into the ground. He’s not sure. He just knows that they’re close enough that Buck can feel Eddie’s breath on his neck with every word that slips out of his mouth. (He wants to be closer. He wants to feel the vibrations of Eddie’s throat against his lips. He wants the pressure of Eddie’s hand to curl around his spine, tethering himself to Eddie in a way that can’t be undone. But he can’t have any of it. He knows he can’t. So he stays still, balancing himself against the point where Eddie’s thumb digs into his spine, planting his feet firmly on the ground and anchoring himself to the hard, cold earth, and he listens.) “How’s the driver?” Eddie asks roughly.  Hen shakes her head. “He’s gone. He was drunk — I definitely smelled alcohol on his breath. But his neck was bent pretty badly in the crash. He died before we could attempt to extract him.”  Buck grits his teeth. “Good,” he spits out, leaning further back against Eddie’s warm, warm body. He sways slightly to the side, and Eddie tightens his hold on Buck’s arm. “Good,” he murmurs again. Behind him, Eddie lets out a low hiss. Buck blinks, turning around to face him, taking in the slight scrape on Eddie’s brow bone and the dirt on his turnouts. He takes in the way Eddie’s worried eyes meet his, the soft honey-brown soothing the insistent pain in Buck temple. It’s a nice view, and Buck gives him a lazy, satisfied grin back. There’s no need to be worried. After all, Eddie is alive. He gets to go home, to the 118, to Chris, to his—  No.  Buck blinks. Eddie is alive. He gets to kick off his dirty shoes in the locker room and pull on the freakishly clean pair he always keeps in their locker — the one that Eddie only ever wears on drives back home from work. Eddie denies it, but Buck knows. He could recite Eddie’s every unsavory habit from memory alone, and he knows that those shoes have only ever seen the floor of a glass-walked locker room and the inside of a pickup truck. Today, Eddie gets to gently toe off those shoes, hide them in the top right slot of his shoe rack, and trek down the hallway to greet Christopher with a hug that he’ll shy away from, too old to let Eddie indulge in those small acts of love. Chris might cave eventually, though — even teenage moodiness hasn’t been able to curve Chris’s fierce love for his father. Eddie is alive, and tonight will end in a ruffle of his son’s hair and a twin chorus of I love you. Tonight won’t end in Chris reliving his worst nightmare. And it’s not just Christopher, Buck thinks — who knows how many lives were spared the moment Hen pressed two fingers against a still pulse; how many children were spared from the kind of blinding grief that Christopher faces every day. Who knows how many parents will laugh with their kids over dinner, how many bleary-eyed twentysomethings will show up late to work because of traffic, how many people will get to marry the love of their lives now that Hen has marked the body and moved onto the next patient. Eddie will get to do all of that and more, because he’s alive. Buck’s mouth ticks up in a smile. No, this was no loss.

to add to the spec from your ginormous brain anon - if it's a combination of Buck and Chris saving him this time and he wasn't seen wearing his st. Christopher medal in the bts what if he loses it when whatever happens happens and Buck finds it and gives it back to him when he rescues him

—i finally got back to chris doesn’t come back au, so here’s more of that. rawie and ems bullied me into posting both snippets 😏
Readying himself to enter the room, Eddie heard some beeping from inside, a gasp from Maddie alerting him.
Eddie entered the room right as dull blues popped open, Buck still looking worse for wear.
“Evan, you’re safe, ok. It’s Maddie.”
Maddie leaned in closer to his space, but it was like Buck didn’t even see her, his blues glassy and closed off.
Without warning, Buck became frantic, sitting up so fast he nearly knocked his head into Maddie’s.
“Christopher! Christopher! Christopher!”
Eddie watched with horror as Buck cried out for his son, all but shouting at the top of his lungs while he slashed at the blankets like the ocean waves, trying to cut across him. Eddie didn’t have time to think or react. He was stood frozen in place, the entire scene eating him up.
————————————————————————
Eddie hand’t been able to re-enter the hospital after witnessing Buck’s shock, Bobby having driven him home to get a shower and some rest.
He felt guilty the entire time, knowing Chris was out there somewhere. It was selfish of him to hope no one else was holding Chris tightly, because Eddie wanted to be the one doing that. At the same time, he didn’t want his son to be alone.
“Wherever you are buddy, just know I love you son. I’ll never stop fighting for you.”
He tapped at the glasses around his neck, Eddie not having been able to part with them since Buck had handed them over. Like his St. Christopher necklace, they would stay close to his heart. When he took them off again, it would be to give them back to his son.

Tagged by @jesuisici33 @hippolotamus @your-catfish-friend
When did you post your first ever fanfic?
God, I definitely posted 1D fics on Wattpad back in the day, probably in 2013 but I started posting again only in June of this year.
First character(s) you wrote for:
It was probably something 1D related either Larry or an OC/Harry Styles
Main character(s) you’re currently writing for:
Buck and Eddie of course.
Character(s) you haven’t written about before but plan on writing about soon:
Hmmm I don’t have anything planned, I’m just following the hyperfixation but probably someone from the 911 world, maybe Ravi or May?
Fandom(s) you’re currently writing for:
9-1-1
Platonic pairing(s) you currently write for:
Buck and Chris- you can't really avoid Buck as Chris's other parent when writing Buddie. Bobby and Buck- another father-and-son relationship. Eddie and Sophia- the Diaz siblings. The entire firefam I suppose.
Romantic pairing(s) you currently write for:
Buck/Eddie
Your top 3 tags on AO3 (if you post your works on AO3):
Not Beta Read, One Shot and Pre-Relationship Evan "Buck" Buckley/Eddie Diaz
Your current platform where you post your works:
AO3
Snippet of the wip you’re currently working on:
I haven't written in weeks but the inspiration hit tonight so here a bit from a new wip- something for Halloween:
Eddie could hear the creak of the tree outside as the wind tumbled through its branches, someone calling for their dog a few doors down and a motorcycle roaring down the street adjacent to his. He could also hear Buck’s heartbeat, its usual slow and steady thump, thump, thump. Normally he would hear Christopher's soft breaths and fluttering heartbeat from the room down the hall but the house is empty tonight.  He can still taste the tequila from the shots they’d decided were a good idea after finishing their usual six pack. The alcohol warming his stomach, making his limbs feel like they belonged to someone else. Without thinking about it, they place themselves on Buck’s broad chest, his skin a contrast to the dark blue button-up Buck decided to wear tonight. Eddie can feel the sharp intake of breath beneath them and his eyes drag themselves up to Buck’s face. His usually pale skin is flushed ever so slightly, confusion dragging his eyebrows together in a look that would be comical if Eddie wasn’t so damn in love with him.  “Eds?” Buck whispers, so quiet that if it weren’t for his enhanced hearing he wouldn’t have heard it. Eddie doesn’t respond, not verbally at least, he just steps in closer, placing his forehead on Buck’s shoulder, face tucked into his neck. Buck’s hands automatically come up to rest on his arms and Eddie thinks just for a moment that he’s going to push him away but instead, Buck’s fingers curl around his biceps, holding him tightly.  Eddie breathes in, taking in Buck’s scent, citrus, honeycomb and sunshine on snow, it’s just as intoxicating as the alcohol. He’s nuzzling into Buck’s neck chasing that scent before he can stop himself. Buck shudders but doesn’t pull away instead, he bares his neck and tries to relax despite the vulnerable position. Buck has to know he’s not going to hurt him, Eddie could never hurt him.  He opens his mouth and sucks in a breath, “Buck…” his name is as sweet as the taste of him on Eddie’s tongue. It so distracting that he forgets what he is going to say and instead, his hands slide up and one around Buck’s neck and into his hair, using the grip to tilt his head so Eddie has better access. Buck gasps, his fingers digging in painfully before relaxing again but Eddie barely registers it, drowning in Buck’s scent until it was just Buck and only him.  Eddie’s teeth and claws lengthen as the primal need takes control, he manages to loosen his grip enough to avoid piercing Buck, the need to protect is just as strong as the need to mark and claim.

You Are In Love (Buddie Fanfic)
Tumblr media
They are on a 24-hour shift and are supposed to take a nap at the station, but Eddie can’t sleep. He has too much going through his mind. So he lays there awake, arm on his forehead, as he stares at the ceiling. His thoughts go to Buck and he looks beside him to see Buck fast asleep in his cot, his mouth slightly open as a soft snore spills out of it. Eddie can’t help but find that endearing.
Something has shifted between them lately. It started when Eddie's truck broke down and Buck offered to drive him home. It was close to midnight and the streets of L.A. were uncharacteristically quiet, and so were the two of them.
"Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl going to the bathroom?" Buck asked all of a sudden
Eddie looked over at him confused, "What?"
"Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl going to the bathroom?" Buck repeated himself, and Eddie could see the beginnings of a cheeky smile on his lips.
"I don't know, Buck." Eddie finally sighed.
"Because the 'P' is silent." With that Buck threw his head back against the seat and laughed.
His laugh was infectious and despite it being a terrible joke, Eddie couldn't help but laugh along with Buck.
"Where did you even hear that?" Eddie asked. "On a cereal box for 8-year-olds?"
"No!" Buck huffed. "The cereal was at least meant for 12-year-olds, thank you very much. Speaking of which, do you think Chris will like this joke?"
"I think Chris will roll his eyes and tell you you're silly," Eddie replied.
Buck pouted at him in return. "I don't like that he's growing up so fast."
"And you think I do?" Eddie scoffed. "I wish I could just keep him little forever."
"Why? You scared he's gonna make you a grandfather soon?" Buck teased.
"Don't even joke about that," Eddie told him. More like warned him.
Buck put up one hand in surrender. "Okay, okay, I won't."
And then they fell into a comfortable silence again.
"You wanna have coffee?" Buck asked all of a sudden.
"Buck, it's midnight," Eddie reminded him.
"I know," Buck replied. "So coffee?"
Eddie gave up and sighed. "Sure."
Eddie thought they were going to get coffee from a drive-thru but nope, Buck had other plans. He pulled up at a 24-hour diner and led them inside, where he ordered coffee and pumpkin pie for both of them.
Eddie raised an eyebrow at him. "Pumpkin pie?"
"Halloween is in 2 days." Buck shrugged as if that answered everything.
They ate pie and drank coffee while talking about their day and about Christopher. It was their usual thing, but there was something different about today. Buck's leg kept brushing against his under the table and his gaze kept falling on Eddie's lips. Eddie squirmed in his seat. He wasn't uncomfortable. He was just very aware of Buck's eyes on him.
Eddie looked down and continued to eat his pie when he heard Buck say, "Look up,"
Eddie did and with no warning, Buck reached out and wiped the corner of his mouth with his thumb. That’s when something reflected in Eddie’s eyes under the light and he realized that there was something around Buck's neck. A chain with a locket. He had never seen that before.
“What’s that?” Eddie asked, pointing at the locket that sat on Buck’s uniform.
“It’s a locket, Eddie,” Buck replied with a cheeky smile.
“I can see that, genius. I’ve never seen it before,” Eddie pointed out.
“That’s because I never wear it.” Buck cradled his hand around the heart-shaped locket. “Maddie bought one for each of us when we were younger. I was at a low point and she wanted me to feel loved, so she gave it to me and said that one day when I find the person who loves me unconditionally, then I can put their picture in here.”
Eddie felt a slight ache in his heart and he didn’t understand why. That meant Buck had found the person who loved him unconditionally. That person had to be Natalia since Buck was dating her right now. But then why did Buck bring him here and make him feel like he was the pumpkin pie Buck wanted to devour? Maybe he just read the whole thing wrong.
They ate in silence and when it came time to settle the check, Buck paid before Eddie could even get his wallet out. This oddly felt like a date, but why would Buck bring him to a date if he were dating Natalia? No, Eddie was reading too much into it. He was also reading too much into the fact that Buck kept brushing their shoulders together once they left the diner.
The next time Eddie notices something has changed between them he gets a little too drunk and crashes at Buck’s place. It was a rare Saturday off for all of them and Christopher was at a sleepover at a friend’s house. And of course, as always, the 118 spent time with each other rather than doing something else. At the end of the night, Eddie had had a little too much. So Buck took him to his place to keep an eye on him and let him sleep it off. He doesn’t remember much about that night. He just remembers waking up the next morning to the smell of burned toast. It took him a minute to realize he was at Buck’s place and in Buck’s clothes. He couldn’t help but take a sniff of the plaid shirt Buck had put him in. It smelled like Buck. He tried not to dwell on the fact that Buck had changed his clothes.
“Morning, Cinderella.”
Eddie's brows furrowed when he heard that. “Cinderella?”
“You don’t remember? Last night, a very drunk Hen asked you what Disney princess you would be, and you replied Cinderella because “Cinders just gets me, you know? She couldn’t be with the person she loved and neither could I”” He did a very bad impression of Eddie before adding. “I don’t think you really know how that story went.”
“Well, she briefly couldn’t be with the man she loved,” Eddie huffed.
“Oh yeah? And who's the man you can’t be with?” Buck stepped into Eddie’s space.
“I never said ‘man’.” Eddie didn’t step back. He kept standing where he was -just inches away from Buck. Buck stepped even closer, using the two inches he had on Eddie to tower over him. For once, Eddie just wanted to let go and give in. But his fears won, and he stepped back.
Which brings Eddie to today. As he lay here thinking about Buck, who was literally beside him in his own cot. Eddie couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to share the cot with him. The cots weren’t big enough to accommodate two men their size, but Eddie would find a way to make them fit. Or at least that’s what Eddie told himself as he turned in his cot to look at Buck. It’s as if Buck knew Eddie was watching him because the next second, his eyes flicker open and he’s smiling at Eddie.
“Hey,” Eddie whispers.
There is a strange look on Buck’s face. One Eddie can’t decipher. He pauses then says, “You know you’re my best friend, right?”
Eddie’s eyebrows furrow in confusion.
“...and that I love you?” Buck adds, and then he’s fast asleep again before Eddie can reply.
Eddie doesn’t know what to make of that. Buck told Eddie that he was his best friend and that he loved him at the same time. Granted, he was probably half asleep at the time, but he still said it.
Eddie’s not any close to figuring out what this thing between them is. But then he gets his chance. It’s not his fault. It’s just sitting there in the locker room, on top of Buck’s hoodie. His locket. Buck is in the shower and probably won’t be out for a while. This is Eddie’s chance. He needs to know who Buck holds close to his heart. So he picks up the locket and opens it…
His heart skips when he sees what’s inside, and then he’s warm all over.
Someone clears their throat behind him and Eddie curses under his breath and turns around. Before Buck can say anything, Eddie quickly asks, “Why do you have a picture of Christopher and me in your locket?”
A look passes Buck’s face. He almost seems hurt and Eddie realizes that his tone sounded accusatory.
Buck approaches him. Just a towel wrapped around his waist and he doesn’t take his eyes off Eddie the entire time. “I told you, Maddie gave me the locket and told me to put the picture of someone who loves me unconditionally in there… and that’s you and Chris.”
Eddie can’t help himself. He practically flings himself in Buck’s arms and kisses him, right there in the locker room for everyone to see. Buck kisses him back with as much fervor. When they come up for air, Eddie says, “I love you too, Buck.”

kiss it better
just a very silly and ridiculous fluff lol
words: 1.5k
[read on ao3]
Buck burns his tongue, Eddie makes a joke, and everything changes.
It’s a regular evening in the Diaz household, no different than any other. Christopher is playing video games in the living room, Buck’s cooking dinner, and Eddie, well… Eddie tries to find something to do in the kitchen as well, to not just blatantly stare at Buck the whole time. He was helping with chopping vegetables earlier, and now he’s doing the dishes that have already accumulated, while easily chatting to Buck, and stealing glances once in a while.
Buck is wearing a dorky apron, with some cartoon food and a bad pun, that he got from Eddie and Chris for his birthday, and he moves around the kitchen so seamlessly, like he’s as familiar with it as if it was his own. He just fits here so well, he belongs in Eddie’s home, and Eddie would do anything to have him stay here for the rest of their lives. He’s longing to be able to just come up to him, as he’s standing at the stove and making dinner for their family, and wrap his arms around Buck’s waist, nuzzle into his neck, kiss his cheek, have Buck look back at him with that knees-weakening smile he wants to kiss off of his face…
Unfortunately, he can’t, and he has to keep his feelings in check, like he’s had to do so far, ever since realizing what this warm, fuzzy, safe feeling he’s been feeling around Buck actually is. It’s scary, honestly, and confusing, figuring out that what you feel for your best friend is beyond platonic. Eddie thinks he accepted it now, though, he can’t fight those feelings anymore, and he did try. Now he just needs to hide them as well as he can, until they disappear – not likely – or until the very unlikely scenario where it turns out that Buck feels the same. Well, maybe not that unlikely… Eddie doesn’t dare to hope, but sometimes he does wonder… Mostly, though, he just puts those feelings away, to freak out about and analyze later, and enjoys spending time with his family in the moment.
“Mmm, it smells so good.” Eddie says, drying his hands after he’s done with the dishes, his stomach rumbling already. “How much longer?”
“It’ll be done when it’s done.” Buck chuckles, stirring in the pot again. "Maybe five, ten minutes."
“Fine.” Eddie rolls his eyes, as he leans back against the counter next to the sink, his eyes immediately drawn to Buck, and he hopes he’s subtle with the staring. “Anything else I can help with?” he asks, leaning his head against a cupboard. At the beginning, years ago, which by now feels like a different life, he used to feel weird about Buck just taking over his kitchen like it was his, and Eddie having nothing to do. He was raised that guests shouldn’t really do anything but relax and enjoy themselves – but Buck was never really a guest in his house, he blended into his family so quickly and seamlessly, Eddie never even really noticed, not until he specifically looked. And now, well, Eddie’s kitchen is more Buck’s than his anyway, he’s the one who usually cooks, and Eddie’s just there to help.
“No, now we just have to wait.” Buck shrugs, then stirs once more, and just as Eddie is about to ask if he wants a beer, Buck decides to take some of the dish onto the spoon and try it, probably to see if it needs more seasoning, or if the vegetables are cooked or something – but instead of doing what a normal person would, which is blowing on it and waiting for it to cool down, Buck takes a spoonful of the still-boiling meal and instantly puts it directly into his mouth.
“Buck-” Eddie’s too late with his warning, that he shouldn’t even have to give, when Buck drops the spoon onto the counter, mouth open as he’s breathing around the hot food.
“Shit! Ah!” he looks pained, as he’s chewing with his mouth half-open, until he finally swallows it and tries to take a sip of his beer, that’s on the counter, but finds an empty bottle, because, well, Eddie might’ve taken a few sips before – but it’s not like Buck wasn’t drinking his, as well, it was all about which was closer wherever they stood. Eddie’s just standing there, feeling equally concerned and amused. He knows Buck’s fine, it’s not a big deal, but he hates seeing him in any kind of pain, no matter how minimal. He has to admit, though, that he doesn’t feel that bad in this particular case, because, well, he did it to himself by not thinking.
“What are you doing?” Eddie asks with fond exasperation, as Buck reduces the heat, and races to the fridge to get another bottle of beer, but does it so frantically, he almost drops the bottle.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” he asks. “Shit, I burnt my tongue.” he says, then sticks it out for some reason, as if he wanted to show Eddie. It’s a little redder than normally, but other than that it’s fine, it should get better within a couple of days.
“That’s what you get for trying to eat boiling-hot food.” Eddie shakes his head. This man is ridiculous, and Eddie loves him so much.
“Ugh, it hurts pretty bad.” Buck adds, a bit muffled, his tongue still sticking out a bit, as if that’s supposed to help. His hands are fiddling with the bottle, and Eddie’s just watching him with amusement.
“What do you want me to do, kiss it better?” Eddie raises his eyebrow, tone clearly teasing, and he doesn’t even realize what he’s actually suggesting until Buck looks at him with wide eyes, tongue still half-stuck out. Eddie’s cheeks burn. He can’t believe he said this. Yes, it was a joke – mostly – but also, he’s an adult and a medic, he could’ve told him how to soothe the burn instead of jumping to a fucking kissing joke. Especially when it’s a tongue. It would be different if Buck cut or burned his finger, but he burned his tongue, and Eddie made a joke about kissing it better. He starts praying that the earth opens up and swallows him whole, because this is just embarrassing.
But then Buck says, tone serious, eyes wide:
"I mean, if you want to." and Eddie almost chokes on air. He wants to laugh it off, but Buck’s not laughing, and, well, he’d lie if he said he wouldn’t use that as an excuse to kiss Buck right now, if he was sure Buck wanted it, too.
“I can do that.” he says, making sure it’s more serious, but with enough teasing to be able to play it off. He’s not sure he could fool anyone, though. He takes a step towards Buck, who’s frozen in place now, tongue back in his mouth, pain clearly forgotten, as he takes a shaky breath.
“Only if you wanna.” he whispers, and Eddie gets even closer, crowding him against the fridge, and he hears a few magnets fall down to the floor.
“Oh, I wanna. Do you?” he asks, because while it’s clear, he needs to make sure, if he’s about to change things, there can’t be any hesitation.
And there’s not, because Buck leans forwards and captures Eddie’s lips in a chaste, tentative kiss – which then turns into more real quick as Eddie opens his mouth, and then Buck immediately adds tongue into the mix, brushing his own against Eddie’s, and, well, clearly he’s not in pain anymore, because the way he's kissing Eddie is… literally breathtaking, and unlike any kiss Eddie’s ever experienced before. To be fair, it might be intensified by the strength of Eddie’s feelings, that feel like they want to explode out of his chest, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a damn good kiss.
Buck tastes like whatever meal he’s been preparing, and beer, and Eddie never wants to stop kissing him. He’s pinning Buck against the fridge, Buck’s hands are around his neck, one of them still holding the bottle of beer, but at this moment Eddie doesn’t even care if it falls and shatters and makes a mess. At this moment, all he cares about is Buck and his lips on Eddie’s.
It’s way too soon that he pulls away, because he remembers why it’s happening in the first place. He looks at Buck’s face and kiss-swollen lips, and licks his own, Buck’s eyes following the movement.
“How’s your tongue?” Eddie asks quietly. Buck blinks, as if surprised, as if he forgot. Then, he appears to run it across his teeth, lips closed, judging.
“Uh, a bit uncomfortable, still hurts a little. Can’t properly taste you, so we’re gonna have to repeat that once it’s better, too.” he adds with a wide smile.
“Don’t worry, we will.” Eddie presses a soft kiss to his lips, and pulls away again, just in time to both feel and see Buck’s arm unwrap from his neck, and reach towards the counter to put down the beer. “You should probably drink some cold water for that, by the way, not beer.” he advises.
“Yeah, okay.” Buck mutters, and then he’s pulling Eddie back in for another kiss, and they continue making out, with the sounds of their dinner simmering quietly, and muffled sounds of video games from the living room reminding them not to get too lost in each other right now. They’ll have plenty of time for that later, and for the rest of their lives.

Kiss Me Once Cause You Know I Had A Long Night 27/?
51. Spinning your lover into a kiss on the dancefloor
Summary:
The whole day, Eddie kept looking at him with a softness in his eyes that made Buck's heart flutter. Buck had only recently realized Eddie had been looking at him like that for years.
(read below!)
(Happy Valentine's Day! 🥰❤️)
Buck sipped his champagne and grinned watching Maddie and Chim dance. She looked so happy, they both did. They deserved it.
He really didn't know why he was being so sappy about it, it wasn't even their wedding yet. It was simply a little party Bobby and Athena put together for Valentine's Day.
Valentine's was Buck's second favorite holiday, right after Halloween, but this particular Valentine's was shaping up to be his favorite day ever. May and Eddie had spent the entire day decorating with Athena and Karen, hanging heart lights and streamers throughout the yard and inside the house while Buck and Bobby had made cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries with Chris' help.
The whole day, Eddie kept looking at him with a softness in his eyes that made Buck's heart flutter. Buck had only recently realized Eddie had been looking at him like that for years.
The song ended and Eddie, who had been dancing with Athena, joined Buck near the patio doors. Buck took another drink of his champagne just to keep his mouth from going too dry. It's just...
Did Eddie have to look so beautiful?
He wore his hair in a gorgeous side swept style, and he was wearing that black turtleneck that drove Buck insane. The dancing and the drinks made his cheeks a delightful pink, highlighted even more by the red tint from the lights.
Another slow song started and Eddie smiled at him. "Want to dance with me?"
Buck couldn't stop the giddy grin on his face if he tried. "Yeah." He set his drink down and Eddie took his hand, guiding him onto the space of the yard they'd cleared away for a dancefloor.
Eddie splayed his palm on the small of Buck's back as Buck rested a hand on Eddie's shoulder. As the song continued, they drifted closer. Buck rested his temple against Eddie's as they swayed to the music.
"Hey Buck?" Eddie asked in a soft voice, like they were in their own little bubble.
"Hm?" Buck looked at the others to find Maddie absolutely beaming at him. He resisted the urge to hide his face in Eddie's neck.
"I know it's already Valentine's, and I'm a little late, but..." Eddie leaned back enough to look into Buck's eyes. "Would you like to go out on a date with me?"
Buck's heart flipped in his chest like it wanted to fly into Eddie's gentle hands. Buck wouldn't stop it.
"Yes," he said with a happy giggle.
Eddie grinned. The song reached its climax and he spun Buck before pulling him back in and dipping him. Eddie leaned in and Buck met him in the middle, wrapping his arm around Eddie's shoulders as he slotted their lips together.
Buck was vaguely aware of someone- probably Chimney- doing a wolf whistle, but he didn't care.
Valentine's Day was definitely Buck's favorite holiday.

Date Night
Buck has never had a hard time getting in the mood. He's a physically affectionate person, likes sex, and specifically likes sex with Eddie. And here on Eddie's couch, the dark-haired man's hands in his hair, pressing into the nape of his neck, lips ghosting over the shell of his ear, trailing down to suck lightly at that sweet spot just under Buck's jaw--Buck should be in Heaven. And he is! But...
Eddie huffs and pulls back, sensing that Buck's mind is staring to wander, which he tries not to be insulted by.
"Buck. I told you, Chris is in his room, hopefully doing homework but probably online playing a video game with his friends. He's been fed. He's been bathed. He knows snacks are done for the night. He won't come in here."
Buck glances in the direction of the boy's room nervously. He was still getting used to this--maintaining an intimate romantic relationship while parenting a child. When Chris is gone, or when just Eddie comes over to Buck's place, it's much easier to compartmentalize. And when they're all three out together, Buck loves holding Eddie's hand or exchanging chaste, brief PDA's. But reconciling the more intimate and overt parts of their relationship with being in "Dad-mode", and making them exist together in the same space, well...Buck's still working on that.
"Are you SURE, though?! What if he, like, sees something?" Buck asks anxiously, mortified at the thought.
Eddie runs his hand down the side of Buck's face. "Baby, he knows we're dating. He knows what that means. He knows we kiss, he knows couples do more than that--"
"He DOES?!" Buck exclaims, feeling suddenly forlorn by the idea of Chris being old enough to know about these things.
Eddie rolls his eyes affectionately. "Yes, mi amor. Chris isn't a little kid anymore. He knows what I meant when I said you and I were going to hang out in here for some alone time together after dinner and after you and him got some play-time in. Having a kid means working around them, but also recognizing that we can't just not be a couple when he's home. We'd never be together, otherwise. Trust me, I have years of experience with this. Besides, we're not going to bang in the living room with our son in the house; I'm just trying to enjoy some of this before we take it to the bedroom."
At that, Eddie leans in, captures Buck's bottom lip between his, teeth scraping gently. Buck's throat involuntarily emits a low whine, and he lets his eyes flutter shut. Eddie's hands change direction and are now exploring the broad expanse of Buck's strong shoulders and taut chest and stomach muscles. There's soft music playing, the room is dimly lit with some candles for ambiance, Eddie is wearing Buck's favorite cologne, and Buck makes himself get back into the sensuality of the moment. Buck tilts his head back to deepen the kiss, and Eddie breaks it only to latch onto Buck's neck. Buck feels himself being nudged onto his back, and he lets it happen, his arms now wrapping around Eddie as the older man settles onto him. God, he's even more handsome in this lighting, Buck internally remarks as Eddie leans up, his brawny, fit thighs straddling Buck's hips. Eddie smirks, and Buck's eyes go half-lidded as Eddie unbuttons the top buttons of the dark blue dress-shirt he looks so damn good in. Missing the close contact of his body, Buck impulsively yanks Eddie back down into a searing kiss. Okay, yeah, Buck's starting to maybe relax now. There's no more blood rushing to his head, it's all heading to a single pressure-point that's quickly making itself known, and they may need to migrate to some privacy quicker than Eddie thought--
"Uh, Dad?"
Record-scratch sound-effects in Buck's brain as everything comes to a screeching halt. He removes his hands from Eddie like the man is on fire. Eddie sighs, straightens his shirt, and very reluctantly sits up again.
"Yeah, bud?" Eddie responds patiently. There's not a hint of frustration in his voice or the frazzled "we've been caught" panic that's seizing Buck. Buck is relieved to realize that Chris has not actually come in there to find his parents in a heated make-out session.
"I have a headache."
Eddie nods, giving Buck an apologetic look as he swings one leg over to stand up. Buck immediately misses the contact, his body going cold where Eddie's hands had been. But, he jumps up too, ready to jump in and help with Christopher if needed.
"I'm gonna get him some Tylenol and water, and get him in bed. It's too late for him to be up on that game anyway," he mumbles to Buck.
"You think maybe your headache is from not wearing your glasses as much as you're supposed to, or staring at the TV for too long?" Eddie calls out to Christopher in a mostly teasing tone as he walks into the kitchen and grabs a glass out of the cupboard. Buck leans against the doorframe and watches him, a soft smile on his face. His blood still runs warm with desire, but there's something so comfortingly domestic about this whole scene, so intimate in a different way that makes Buck's heart burst. He runs a hand through his hair.
"So, uh, raincheck?" Buck asks breezily.
Eddie stops and looks at Buck, blinking in confusion. "Why? I'm just going to bring the kid some medicine and get him tucked in. Won't take but five minutes."
Buck freezes, wide-eyed. "Uhh, are you serious??"
Eddie laughs. "Buck, like I said, we don't have to abandon everything every time we get interrupted or when we're reminded there's a kid in the house. He's going to be here most of the time, we just gotta get used to it being a thing and work around it accordingly."
Buck worries his bottom lip between his teeth. Eddie eyes him.
"But...I've had plenty of practice navigating parenting and having a social and dating life. You haven't. So, if you need more time, and just want to cool it tonight, we absolutely can. You know I'm happy to just be with you. However..." Eddie saunters up to Buck, ocean-blue eyes flickering over the slightly taller man's form.
"...if you want to finish what we started, why don't you go wait for me in the bedroom, hmm?" Eddie whispers, sultry, next to Buck's ear. Buck swallows, and just like that, his heart is racing in his chest again. Eddie punctuates his point with a wink and a quick, suggestive smack to Buck's ass. Buck watches him head to Chris's room, fluidly and easily switching from sexy and seductive to kind, attentive Dad. Buck can hear him fussing over his son, can picture Eddie ruffling Chris's hair affectionately.
Buck takes two lit candles from the living room to Eddie's room and blows out the rest. When Eddie comes back, he's greeted with the sight of Buck reclining on the bed, jeans button undone, shirt off, gazing at Eddie through half-lidded eyes. Eddie takes a second to appreciate the picture before him, but Buck gives him no more than that second.
"Well? This was your idea. What are you waiting for?"
Eddie grins and pounces, and yeah, Buck has decided to just go ahead and get used to this.

Eddie Diaz Masterlist
Series Masterlist
Summary: Eddie and (Y/n) have a heart to heart when (Y/n) talks about having another baby. But Eddie can't go through that trauma again, not after last time.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
A shiver coursed down (Y/n)'s spine when she heard the front door open and close.
Oh God. This was it. Now or never. She was going to have to talk to him; she was going to have to tell him.
She kept her back to the kitchen door and stayed stood in front of the fridge, pretending to look for something when really, she was staring into an abyss. Her breathing momentairely stopped while her eyes zoned out and all she could see was the doctor's office she had been sat in this morning.
Her mind zoned out enough that the blinking light in the fridge and the quiet, distressed beeping didn't phase her or break through the static in her ears. Her hand stayed curled around the fridge door and her head tilted to one side.
At least with her back to the door, Eddie wouldn't see the tears welling up in her eyes.
The sound of his trainers clashing against the kitchen floor finally snapped through to (Y/n)'s brain and made her slam the fridge shut before the temperature began to drop.
She stayed rooted to the spot, even when she felt a familiar pair of arms encase her waist and pin her up against his chest. Her head flopped to the left, pressing her cheek against Eddie's hair that was damp and fluffy like a feather pillow. Her hands moved down to hold onto his wrists while he gave her a tight squeeze and attached his lips to the side of her neck.
"Hi baby." He murmured softly into her neck while (Y/n) closed her eyes to try and stay calm and compose herself.
She took note of the shirt Eddie was wearing, she could feel the material rubbing against her bare arms. He had changed out of his gym gear. He was no longer wearing the rubbery vest top or training shorts he left in this morning. he was in a softer, thinner cotton shirt and a pair of jeans. He must have had a long workout to change at the gym instead of when he got home.
"Hi," She didn't trust her voice but she tried her best to sound calm and she kissed his head, nuzzling her nose into his hair to try and control her nerves.
"Where are the kids?"
Eddie realised he couldn't hear the tv or hear Lilah screaming and babbling loudly as she played with her toys. And Chris wasn't in the living room, and he couldn't hear their eldest playing any games in his bedroom either. The house was oddly quiet and that meant the kids weren't here because if they were outside, (Y/n) would of been out there with them.
"Buck's taken them to the zoo." (Y/n) had only asked Evan if he could watch the kids for an hour or two, but he had happily come round to pick them up. And as soon as Chris asked if they could go out, Evan was bubbling with excitement and ready to take him and Lilah to the zoo.
She knew Evan had guessed something was playing on her mind and that something was wrong, but he didn't pry. He took the kids the moment she asked and gave her a comforting hug before he left.
"Oh… so you're mine for the afternoon then. What'd you wanna do?" Eddie moved his hands down to (Y/n)'s hips and turned her around in his grip so they were facing one another.
He didn't see her face for very long before she pushed up on her toes to lock her arms around his neck and pull him down to her. He felt her nose brush across his neck and tickle the base of his shoulder and he grinned into her hair. His hands moved around to curl back around her waist and he began gliding his hand up and down her back.
He didn't realise Evan wanted to see the kids today, not that he was complaining. It was never an issue when Evan wanted to take the kids out, and it was a surprise to find that he could have (Y/n) to himself for the day. It had been a while since he'd had her to himself and didn't have to fight for her attention without the kids bustling in.
They stayed tangled together like that for a few quiet minutes and Eddie felt his smile fading against her hair when (Y/n) didn't say anything. She just held him. And he stayed wrapped around her, she felt like she needed some comfort, although he couldn't fathom why.
Eventually, just as Eddie was about to say something, (Y/n) pulled back. Her fingers tangled in the short hair at the base of his head and made a shiver run down his neck when she tightened her grip. She took him by surprise and leaned up to connect their lips. The kiss was heavy and burdened and demanding and needy all at once.
It took Eddie by surprise and knocked him on his back foot. He felt like this was a silent message he was supposed to decode, but he didn't know how.
He parted his lips, inhaling as deep a breath as he could manage before he dove down and stole her lips as demanding as she had initiated with him. His fingers dug deep into her hips and he felt her back curve against his hand as she leaned back and let him push her down. His chest moulded against hers and he groaned, tracing his tongue across hers when she scratched the base of his neck.
(Y/n) could see stars dancing across Eddie's face when they finally pulled up for air. His chest panted along with hers and a mixture of confusion and lust pooled in his eyes.
Why had she kissed him so desperately like that? Why was she looking at him worriedly like that? Why wasn't she talking to him?
He stayed still but loose and easily moveable, tilting his head down to watch the way (Y/n) laced her fingers with his and clung to his sweating palm.
When she walked ahead of him, Eddie let her drag him behind her, gripping her hand tight while his other hand cupped her hip again, softer and lighter this time. His chest moved near her back, keeping only a hairline fracture of space between them as he followed (Y/n) wordlessly out of the kitchen.
He wondered for a moment if she was about to divert down the hall towards the bedroom, but he followed and turned with her when she aimed for the living room instead.
Eddie studied the way (Y/n) sat down and pulled her legs up beneath her so they were crossed on the sofa, all while her left hand kept the tightest grip on him so his knuckles were turning deathly white. He twisted his arm a little so he could slowly sit down on the sofa beside her.
His gaze dragged up and down her frame, soaking her in, assessing the worry in her eyes, the tension in her body. The way she held her back straight like she was too nervous to slouch into the sofa. His tongue dragged across his lips that were still tingling from the power she had when she kissed him.
"Baby…?" He didn't quite know what he was asking or what he wanted to say, but (Y/n) seemed to understand his wordless question.
She dragged his hand across so their entangled hands were laid on her thigh, allowing (Y/n) to trace her thumb over the back of his hand. And bring her right hand up to draw aimless patterns and random designs on the back of Eddie's wrist and along his arm towards his tattoo.
"The doctor's office called me this morning, they got my bloods through and they wanted to see me."
"That was quick…" Eddie wasn't sure he liked where this was going. It had scarcely been two days since (Y/n) went to the doctors for a check up.
He knew she had to have bloods taken every few months for her vitamin deficiency. And she had to have check ups every six months to make sure she was okay on the contraceptive pill. The last time she was on the pill it messed with her system and made her sick.
If the doctors called back this quick and wanted an appointment on the same day, Eddie knew that was a sign that something was wrong.
"They gave me an emergency appointment this morning… Eddie I- I'm pregnant."
All (Y/n) could feel was the way her heart was pounding against her chest so harshly every beat felt like a hammer to her chest. Every pulse tore through her eardrums and made pins and needles course down to her feet. Her fingertips turned numb and both hands started to sweat, despite her fingers turning cold from panic and dread.
This news wasn't going to go down well, (Y/n) knew that from the start.
This wasn't like with Chris. This wasn't (Y/n) sitting Eddie down and giving him a gift of a baby onesie and a positive pregnancy test or telling him that she needed him to be careful in the army because he had two people to come home to now.
And it wasn't her waking him up on father's day and telling him he was going to have another baby.
They had agreed, no more kids.
(Y/n) was on the pill for that very reason and they were always careful. If Lilah's pregnancy was anything to go by, they couldn't have a repeat of that. As much as they loved their kids and would love to expand their family, it wasn't a risk they could say was worth taking.
Her labour with Chris had gone south. Her whole pregnancy with Lilah had been nine months from Hell and that birth almost killed her. It wasn't something Eddie wanted to witness again, he couldn't risk losing a baby or losing (Y/n) and bringing up their kids on his own. He wouldn't survive losing her.
Tears began to trickle down the bridge of (Y/n)'s nose and across her cheeks when Eddie didn't say anything.
He let her deadlock his hand in both her palms and he stayed limp and let her lift his arm to pin his hand to her chest to try and keep herself calm. But (Y/n) watched the way Eddie dragged his free hand across his jaw and down his chin.
The rage was visible in his eyes, but it wasn't directed at her. Eddie wasn't sure who or what he wanted to direct his anger at. Probably himself. He had let this happen. He told himself- he vowed he wouldn't go through another pregnancy, he wouldn't risk (Y/n)'s life like that again.
Now he'd put her in danger. Now she was pregnant he was going to see her deteriorate and worry about coming home to find her bleeding out or passed out on the floor. Or worry about going into labour and coming out without his wife or child at the end of it. What had he done?
"Eddie…" (Y/n) tilted her head down and pressed her lips against his knuckles when he didn't say anything. He just stared down at her legs like he would suddenly find the answers and the words he was looking for if he didn't look her in the eye.
"You're sure?"
"Yeah. Close to fifteen weeks, they think. I- I didn't want the ultrasound without you, so I'm at the hospital next week."
(Y/n) let them do another blood test and an exam and she got checked over by the doctor, but she wouldn't agree to a scan. She wasn't waiting around in the office for an hour, drinking two pints of water and watching the scan when she was alone. She felt sick, she thought she was going to faint and all she wanted was Eddie.
The doctor booked her the soonest appointment at the hospital, gave her a prescription for two different anti-sickness meds so they wouldn't have a repeat of last time with Lilah. And she was taken off the pill immediately. Now (Y/n) didn't know what to do.
"Eddie say something. Baby please-"
"What are we gonna do?"
(Y/n) wasn't so sure Eddie was speaking to her as much as he was trying to give himself a pep talk which clearly wasn't working.
When he tore his hand out of her grip, her chest tightened and she couldn't stop the tears from flooding down her face. She moved her hands to deadlock her arms around her waist while she watched Eddie slump forward. His elbows dug uncomfortably into his knees, his hands clasped together so tightly the knuckles were almost breathing through the skin. And he meshed his lips against his hands to stop himself from screaming.
"I don't know."
"I tried I- fuck! I tried to protect you and I- I've, I've- I can't lose you." What else was he meant to do? Abstain from (Y/n) for the next ten years until there was no risk of an unplanned pregnancy happening? Eddie knew in his heart he wouldn't be able to do that but he'd give it a damn good try if he had to.
He just wanted to have his family and keep them all safe and well. Pregnancy didn't agree with (Y/n) or in the very least, giving birth didn't agree with her. Everything with Chris had been fine up until the birth, and everything with Lilah was a train wreck.
Eddie wasn't doing that again. He wasn't taking her to hospital demanding someone do something to look after her. He wasn't waking up in the middle of the night worried she wasn't okay. He wasn't seeing her cry in agony or go mad on bed rest that didn't even help her.
He wasn't going to sit back and watch her go through hours of agony and come close to losing her life at the end of it. A baby wasn't worth that. His wife was worth everything to Eddie; he'd give his life for hers.
He wasn't being a single father to their kids because he'd gone and put her at risk by getting her pregnant.
"What am I supposed to do? Eddie I don't… I don't wanna- I can't," When (Y/n) moved her palm to press against her abdomen, she whimpered. She didn't want to get rid of it. She may not look or even feel pregnant yet, but just knowing she was having a baby made her feel different.
The only way (Y/n) would agree to an abortion was if this pregnancy was going to risk her life. She wouldn't take the risk, not after everything with Lilah, and it would break every part of her soul to do it. But right now, she hadn't been told that news.
The doctor was worried, given (Y/n)'s history, which was why she needed a scan and a lot of check ups and she needed to sit down and talk with the doctor and Eddie about this.
But what if it went as smoothly as it did with Chris? What if Eddie finally got that chance to be with (Y/n) when she was pregnant and just see her body change and grow and see the baby develop healthily? What if they got through the next few months with no sickness and no complications and (Y/n) felt fine and active and healthy and happy?
That was a possibility.
"You think I want that?" Eddie's broken tone made (Y/n) cry harder.
She hated the look in his eyes when he snapped his head to the right to look at her. Did she honestly believe Eddie wanted an abortion? Did she think he thought that was the best course of action and that he had no quarrels doing that?
He wasn't brought up that way. Eddie was a catholic, the only kind of termination his family were accepting of was the kind where the mother's life was in danger. But it wasn't just the religious side that got to him. He was brought up on the knowledge that family was everything. Eddie loved his family, he loved the family he created with (Y/n). He absolutely adored their kids and would do anything for them.
He didn't want to lose one, and Eddie could feel the guilt creeping up his throat thinking that getting rid of his own child was better than the risk of keeping them.
"You spent nearly eight months between the hospital and the bed last time, do you wanna do that again? Baby I'm not gonna sit there and watch them dose you on adrenaline because you almost died!"
"Then what do we do? Just say no a-and terminate?" (Y/n) leaned back into the cushions and dragged her hands through her hair. "We tried, but clearly you've got strong swimmers because I'm already pregnant. I can't- I can't just take it back or rewind time. I don't want to put you through that again and I don't wanna be laid up in bed or call you thinking I'm losing our baby."
Tears streamed freely down her face and she held Eddie's hardened gaze when his eyes locked with hers and his jaw clenched so tightly it looked like his teeth would start to disintegrate.
"But it might not be like that… I was so sick with Lilah from the start, if, if I'm fifteen weeks already, I feel fine. And maybe I can have a choice this time, about a C-section."
(Y/n) found out she was pregnant with Lilah from the two-month mark and she had been sick since the beginning. But if she was already over three months, she didn't feel it. (Y/n) didn't feel queasy or run down or like she was going to collapse or throw everything up. She had been a little nauseous at times, but nothing as drastic as last time.
Surely that was a good sign that this pregnancy might go better, like with Chris? Surely they had a chance of a smooth ride this time?
And with (Y/n)'s history, she might have the choice of a C-section. The doctors might agree that her bad birth with Chris and her life-threatening situation with Lilah called for precautions. A C-section would save panic, hassle and take away most of the risks (Y/n) faced.
(Y/n) pressed her hands down into the sofa and looked across at Eddie. He hadn't moved. If it weren't for the harsh sounds of his breathing fanning into his hands, (Y/n) would have thought he had frozen in time. He was as still as a mountain, except for the throbbing vein in his neck.
With her breath held deep in her lungs, (Y/n) pushed herself up and inched to the left until her knee brushed his. When he didn't move, react or pull away, (Y/n) tenderly curled both her arms around Eddie's bicep and leaned over until his arm was pinned against her chest. She pressed her lips down into his shoulder and closed her eyes, breathing in his scent as she waited for him to say something.
"We take it slow, one day at a time."
Her eyes opened and she tilted her head so her chin was pressing down into his shoulder, allowing her to look up at him. He turned his head in her direction but the emotions pooling in his eyes made (Y/n)'s heartbeat quicken.
"What?"
"If you're okay now, you might not be so ill… but if you get sick or half as bad as last time, we have to do something." Eddie knew they had very little choices right now. And he could understand (Y/n)'s point of view, she didn't want to get rid of this baby if they had a chance of having a good pregnancy, especially if she was a little bit further along already and she was okay.
But if something went wrong, if she got severely dehydrated or she got sick or had any complications, Eddie wasn't willing to take the risks. He would rather keep (Y/n) safe and think of her first. If she got ill and couldn't have the baby, Eddie could live with that. As long as she was okay.
"And we push for a C-section, you can't go through another labour like that again. You're my priority, you understand that? There is no question, you're health matters more. I need you- the kids need you-"
"I know, I know baby."
(Y/n) pressed her lips down against the junction between Eddie's neck and shoulder where she could feel his breaths begin to even out. She wasn't expecting him to be happy about this, not yet. Not until they knew how things would go and if they could do this. But she was happy he wasn't outright refusing to give this a try. That was all she could ask for.
And she was in full agreement. They could try, and if this pregnancy went south and they couldn't get through it, then that was okay. (Y/n) couldn't risk her health. She had seen how bad it could get when she had Lilah and by the time she got a placental abruption, there was nothing they could do. They couldn't terminate or speed up the pregnancy or do anything to reverse the damage or make (Y/n) better.
She had to think about Chris and Lilah, it wasn't worth risking her health when she had two children to think about who needed her.
"Will you come to the scan with me, at the hospital?" (Y/n) could barely hear her voice when she spoke against his neck. And she let go of his arm to loop her arms around his neck when he curved his arm around her waist.
He turned to the side so he was facing her and in one swift movement, he pulled (Y/n) so she was sat on his lap rather than beside him. He locked his arms around her waist, keeping her pinned against him.
"You know I will, you're not doing any of this alone, mi amor."
Eddie closed his eyes and tipped his head forward until their temples were touching. He nudged his nose against hers and tried to take deep, calming breaths. He wanted to be happy. He wanted to smile and laugh and cry and bask in the thought of having another baby like he did the last two times. And if this went well, he would have another baby in his arms.
But he couldn't get ahead of himself. He couldn't let his thoughts get carried away and get attached in case something went wrong or they had to make a decision.
His chest tightened and his shoulders tensed when he suddenly felt (Y/n)'s hand reach around to take hold of his left wrist that was resting on her back. He stayed still and waited to see what she was doing, but every part of his body started to shake beneath her when she carefully laid his palm down over her stomach.
His hand started to tremble and he dared to swipe his thumb up and down for a few seconds before he stopped himself.
Tears were already drenching his face.
He wanted to pull his hand away. He wanted to shake his head and say no. He couldn't think like that, he couldn't get ahead of himself. He couldn't imagine anything and get his hopes up. But it felt like it was already too late. (Y/n) was already pregnant, things were already complicated and now there was an image in his head of a new addition to their family. He could almost feel the way (Y/n)'s stomach was going to curve and change; something he absolutely loved but never thought he'd see again.
(Y/n) tightened her arms around his neck when Eddie suddenly leaned around her so he could smother his face in her chest. She could feel his tears soaking into her shirt and she kissed his hair when he pressed his hand down firmer on her stomach like he was waiting for confirmation or even a kick.
She was so lost in the feeling of Eddie's fingers tracing and scrunching up her shirt over her abdomen that (Y/n) almost missed the words he whispered into her chest. "It'll be okay, baby."
She wasn't quite sure who he was talking to.
***
"So, is everything okay?"
(Y/n) wanted to smile. She wanted to look up at Eddie and ask him where his patience of a saint had disappeared to. But she couldn't look away from the midwife, because it was the same question swirling around her head too.
Was everything okay with the baby? What were they going to do if the answer was no? How was Eddie going to react?
"Yes, baby looks to be a healthy size, placenta is in place, blood flow is good. And heartbeat is strong," As she spoke, the midwife tilted the screen in their direction and turned on the volume so they could listen.
Part of (Y/n) had been expecting a different answer. She was expecting to be told something was amiss or maybe she wasn't actually pregnant. Or something had gone wrong because she had been on the pill and didn't know about this sooner.
Seeing that familiar image on the screen and watching the tiny heart thud out a strong rhythm made (Y/n)'s own heart go haywire.
She could feel adrenaline pooling in her stomach and sparking through her veins when Eddie suddenly took her hand. He laced their fingers together and squeezed so tightly (Y/n) couldn't feel her fingertips anymore. But when she dared to drag her gaze away from the screen to look up at him, she was surprised.
He was smiling.
(Y/n) hadn't been expecting to see him smile. She was well prepared for his worried eyes, his jaw locked in place and his lips pressed into a thin line. She had been waiting for him to say something else, ask if something was bound to go wrong.
She was even expecting him to stay silent and not react at all. To see him stood there smiling, with tears bubbling up in his eyes, made (Y/n)'s throat tighten up with the urge to cry.
She moved their entwined hands to hold his hand against her chest, and she could see stars dancing across her vision when Eddie leaned over her. He dragged his free hand through her hair, tangling his fingers into her locks while he tenderly pressed his lips against her temple.
"You alright?"
Eddie dragged his hand across his face and looked across the kitchen at Evan. He managed a smile as Evan reached into the fridge and handed him a beer before he leaned forward on the counter.
"Are you sure, you seem a little, distant." Evan didn't want to pry, but he could see there was something playing on Eddie's mind. The distant look in his eyes wasn't something Evan was used to and Eddie had barely said a word since he walked through the door. And it had been Eddie's idea to come over and hang out while (Y/n) had taken the kids out to the park.
"Just thinking… about this." He took a large swig of his drink while he rummaged around in his back pocket for the small square photo he'd been carrying around for the last three days. It felt like gold dust between Eddie's fingers as he slid the small black and white photo across the counter towards Evan.
His eyes focused intently on his friend, gaging his reaction because he was the first person Eddie had shown this to. He was the first person Eddie wanted to talk to because Evan knew how he would feel and react to this.
"I- oh, this… this is, (Y/n)'s pregnant?"
He watched the way Evan's face changed from a reminiscent smile to a gaping expression with wide eyes and a set jaw. This wasn't an old photo Eddie had dug out the memory box. This wasn't a scan photo from Chris or Lilah's pregnancy. This was recent; this was new. (Y/n) was pregnant; again.
"I thought you said you weren't gonna have any more?" It didn't settle right with Evan that Eddie would suddenly change his mind and be all for this.
Not after how he had reacted when Lilah was born. Everyone on the team could see how Eddie was conflicted; how something so innocent and sweet and heart-wrenching as Lilah could make Eddie feel so strange. Because he was so concerned with looking after (Y/n) and wanting her to be okay, and the only reason she had been suffering in the first place was this little girl who Eddie swore to protect with his life.
It didn't seem realistic that Eddie would do a complete turn around and be willing to have another baby.
Evan remembered them talking a while back, Eddie was adamant he wasn't having any more kids. In his mind, it was as if Eddie himself was placing that risk onto (Y/n)'s shoulders if she got pregnant and he didn't want to do that. He wanted to keep her safe at all costs.
"This wasn't exactly planned, Buck. She's sixteen weeks gone already." A groan tumbled past Eddie's lips and he pushed up off the counter and moved to drag his fingers through his hair.
It felt like there were two different battles raging inside his head and his heart. His heart wanted to go through with this, but his head wasn't so swayed on the idea. His head told him there was still a lot of risks here, they weren't safe or lucky just because so far, nothing had gone wrong. And Eddie didn't want those risks. He wanted none of it.
"What are you gonna do? Eddie… I saw you when (Y/n) was in the hospital, and I've never seen you like that."
"Because I saw my wife almost die because of me."
"Why was that because of you?"
Evan couldn't see that as a fair judgement. Eddie hadn't done anything to put (Y/n) at risk of make her ill. He wasn't the reason her heart almost gave out, he wasn't the reason she got sick in the first place or why she had a placental abruption. He didn't do anything wrong, but he was holding the guilt like it was the only truth he knew.
"I got her pregnant."
"Eddie… that's not how the world works. That bloodloss and those problems (Y/n) had, they weren't a direct cause from you, you can't make that connection and blame yourself. If I drove you somewhere, and someone crashed into us, that wouldn't be my fault… you're consuming guilt you think you deserve, but you don't."
Nothing that happened or went wrong with (Y/n) was directly Eddie's fault. If he could foresee what would go wrong and still went ahead with the pregnancy then maybe he would be at fault. But he couldn't be blamed for everything that happened after (Y/n) got pregnant.
"I just- I don't wanna do that again Buck. I don't wanna sit there and think, is this how it ends? What am I gonna do with Chris and Lilah without her? I can't raise two- or God forbid three kids on my own."
"But you don't know if anything will go wrong. You're acting like it's all agreed but it's not… is this what you want, take away all the risks, what do you think?"
Eddie couldn't go through life weighing the risks to every decision he made and everything that happened. He was never going to live his life if he was going to panic about everything that he did, especially involving his family.
And there was nothing to say that (Y/n) was indefinitely going to be sick or have a complication or come close to losing her life again this time. Eddie was just presuming the future and how he thought it was going to play out. But if he took away all of those preconceptions and thought about this differently, what did he truly think?
If there was no risk, no panic, no uncertainty. Eddie didn't have to think about that. He could hear his heart clearly when all the worries were locked away and put on mute.
If he had no risks to think about, no worries about (Y/n)'s health or her life and he knew she would be okay, then Eddie had no issues knowing what he wanted. This is what he wanted. If things went differently with Lilah's birth Eddie wouldn't be stood here panicking, he would be stood here the happiest man in the world. Telling his friend he was going to have another kid.
"I think I want this baby."
YOU DONT SEE US LIKE I DO
Tumblr media
Summary: How could people leave him? How could they leave this loyal, good soul? How could they hurt Buck like that? He was so easy to love - so he said it.
It’s quiet, but Buck hears it.
Word Count: 3k
Notes: first tumblr post woot woot! this is cross posted on archive of our own - it’s technically a songfic bc i listened to i do by reneé rapp while i was writing. without that song, this fic wouldn’t exist :)
requests go here! • find me on ao3 here!
We fall asleep on the couch, I refuse to move
'Cause it's the only time that I'm ever sleeping next to you
It was a rough shift, and Buck hadn’t taken more than a look to follow Eddie back to the Diaz household.
Rough days always ended in movie nights, Christopher would sit between them and hold the popcorn - and he always held them back, relaxing into their hugs despite being a bit ‘too cool’ for that now.
It was the couch that Eddie found himself on after unlocking the door and heading inside, not needing to glance back to know that Buck was following him - he just would be.
He was proven right when the front door closed and the sound of Buck’s bag hitting the floor filled his ears, a tired Buck soon collapsing next to him on the couch. Eddie held his breath for a moment - they were always tactile, but Buck had never simply leaned closer and nuzzled his head into the crook of his neck before.
Eddie tensed up, mind racing as the scent of Buck’s shampoo filled his nostrils and made him dizzy. Buck was out like a light only seconds later, and Eddie manoeuvred his arms around his friend - friend, he tried to remind himself - and carefully moved so that his legs wouldn’t cramp up.
Chris was fast asleep, Carla having gone through his night time routine with him, so it was just them.
And Eddie felt gross, he hasn’t showered after his shift and Buck hadn’t either, but in that moment he didn’t care.
Buck was laying in his arms, his breath was tickling his neck.
And god, he wants.
He wants and wants so selfishly that he should feel guilty, but he never would when it came to Buck.
His best friend, his co-parent, the person who he revived, the person who survived and came back to him.
His Buck.
Some days it hurt - the cemetery was rough, meeting Natalia was god awful, and he thanked his lucky stars that it had ended.
He’d promptly broken up with Marisol, which hadn’t gone quite as well as he’d hoped.
“We went on a double date, with your kid! What the hell do you mean this isn’t working?!”
He held back a shudder at the mere memory of that conversation.
His love for Buck just outshone everything else - eclipsing everything else and making life feel worth living.
But while Eddie wasn’t ashamed of his love for Buck, he was a coward.
And tomorrow he would feel guilty for letting himself fall asleep on the couch just to hold him for a bit longer.
Tumblr media
When we're saying, "I love you"
I mean it different than you do
Sometimes Eddie felt brave - he had to at least try and tell Buck.
The man had driven over in the rain at 2am on the night of a shift the second Eddie called and mentioned having a particularly bad nightmare. If Eddie hadn’t been in love with him before, he absolutely would be now. Buck did all of that and more for Eddie - he felt like he at least owed him that.
Buck was in the kitchen making his special hot chocolate for them, and Eddie was sitting on the counter watching as buck melted the marshmallows for his concoction.
The kitchen light was the only light on in the house, and Buck is wearing mismatched socks, cookie monster print boxer shorts and a white t-shirt, and it’s leaving Eddie feeling some type of way as the light hits him just right.
How could people leave him?
How could they leave this loyal, good soul?
How could they hurt Buck like that?
He was so easy to love. So he said so.
“I love you”
It’s quiet, but Buck hears it.
He blinks once, twice and then smiles all sleepy and pauses what he’s doing.
He takes two steps towards Eddie, and he feels like he’s frozen as Buck squeezes his shoulder and says he loves him right back.
“I love you too, Eds - you’re my best friend and I want to be here for you” he says.
Eddie feels cold all of a sudden.
He feels a little melancholy after that, like his heart hurts, like it’s bleeding and trying to claw his way out of his chest
Tumblr media
You don't see us like I do
You don't see us from my view
It's like we're both looking up
And I'm under a storm
And you’re seeing sky-blue
“To Maddie and Chimney!” Hen shouted across the patio, everyone cheering and taking a sip of their desired drinks.
Maddie looked beautiful, and Buck had looked so unbelievably choked up at his first glimpse of her.
He’d grabbed Eddie’s hand as he sucked in a deep breath - Eddie had expected him to let go after the tears stopped welling up, but he hadn’t.
Eddie was torn between watching Maddie and Chimney’s vows and looking from Buck to their hands - he only felt a little bad.
He felt cold when Buck released his hand at Maddie’s announcement.
“Bouquet toss! Gather round, singletons!”
Buck was on his feet quickly at that, and Eddie had a moment to just…look at him - to appreciate the way the light hit his skin, the way his skin dimpled at the corner of his mouth.
He was beautiful.
Eddie was so in love.
Sometimes he wanted to tell him - he’d almost told him so many times, but then Buck would say something - or look at him in a certain way, and he just couldn’t.
He couldn’t risk this going wrong for Christopher, for Buck, for their family and their friends.
And his chest ached, god, it ached.
Maddie tossed the bouquet, and Buck jumped towards it, his height giving him an unfair advantage.
And then Christopher was cheering for him as he caught it, he glanced at his Dad’s winded look and cheered a little less.
“Is there a Buck 6.0 update incoming?” Athena joked, glancing from Buck to Eddie with some kind of all knowing look.
It made Eddie’s skin crawl.
Buck laughed, throwing his head back.
Why did he have to be so gorgeous?
“You’re next, little brother! The bouquet said so” Maddie laughed and Buck positively groaned.
“Why do I need to get married next? What if I want to take a break and just, I don’t know, bro out with Eddie?” Buck complained, and Eddie positively choked on his drink.
Athena gave his back a pat from her spot beside him, a smirk pulling at her lips. “I’m sorry - bro out? What on earth are you on about, Buck?!” Josh looked positively confused and extremely amused.
Chimney looked like he knew something no one else did.
Eddie was paranoid.
No one could possibly tell he loved Buck, right?
He prided himself on his ability to school his behaviour.
“You know, staying single and just hanging out with my best friend. We’re basically in an intimate-less marriage anyway! I have everything with Eddie, just in a platonic way, you know?”
Eddie couldn’t fucking breathe.
Chris was beaming beside Buck, looking up at him with glee, “Does that mean I can start calling you dad?” He pondered out loud, glancing at Eddie anxiously.
Buck was glowing, and Eddie felt like he was drowning, but now it was more of like drowning in a jacuzzi, he felt warm as opposed to the cold he felt at Buck’s implications.
Eddie nodded, a smile of his own making its way across his face as Buck nodded and Christopher.
God.
Buck was everything.
And Eddie was so, so blind - how could he not notice the heart eyes that stayed on him the second Eddie was in his presence?
I have 4 wips I want to share cause I really like them
Buck wears skirts in 6b au
Hen stares at him with her jaw open for a few seconds, then smiles broadly. The way Hen's attention abruptly changed from the conversation attracts the others in the room, they turn around, Bobby and Chim freeze with their mouths open, and Eddie falls off the bench, trying to turn completely to them. He doesn't even pay attention to it, just blinks a lot, looking at Buck.The blue-eyed man rushes to him.
“Damn, Eds, are you hurt?” Buck helps the brown-eyed to get up.
“I-I-I I-no. Everything is fine. Just… um… I didn't expect to see you like this,” Eddie looks Buck up and down. His face is a funny mix of disbelief, shock and something that Buck doesn't want to decipher. Because it looks like an interest. Even desire, but Eddie can't desire him, can he?
after poker smut (I were sharing mostly angst parts so here a little bit of spice)
Eddie finally breaks away from Buck's plush lips, but moves on to his gorgeous neck, taking the jacket off him and throwing it to the side. He starts kissing and sucking on Buck's neck, and something tells Buck that tomorrow he will need a turtleneck to cover his neck. Maybe Eddie wouldn't mind if Buck borrowed his.
In parallel with the kisses, Eddie unbuttons Buck's shirt, but on the second button he just tears it apart, pulling off at least one button. And Buck would be lying if he said it wasn't hot. He's already half hard in his pants just from kissing Eddie and the way they rub against each other. But he feels that Eddie is not soft either, so it's all fair.
"You belong with me" (au where Buck is wooed by a new guy at the station)
"Hey, Eddie. What flowers does Buck like?”
“What?”
“What's Buck's favorite flowers?” Danny repeats even though Eddie clearly heard him from the first time. He just doesn't understand why this new guy needs to know it and why he's asking Eddie. “Have you slept well man? You look exhausted.” He sounds … honest. Like he actually cares about Eddie`s well-being. He seems nice. But Eddie still feels strange about him.
“I`m alright, but thank you for asking,” Eddie tries to be polite, but he definitely is not going to share anything with him. “Why do you want to know Buck's favorite flowers?"
“I … really fell for Buck. I mean I know I`m here only for a week, but he's just so, you know, kind, so heart-open, caring, funny and so invested in his work. And the way he can talk about his interest with so many emotions, expressions and energy. Can`t understand how he doesn't have thousands of people trying to woo him. I want to try to do it. So I'm gonna start with flowers."
Eddie can relate to everything that this guy was talking about, but he can add so much more things why people should love Buck.
Great. Buck`s wooed by a nice man. Not like Buck doesn't deserve to be wooed by a nice man. But Eddie can't be happy that it is Danny. Only because he feels in his gut this guy is strange. No other reason.
And the wip i started hour ago : Chris tells Buck "You died".
“You died, Buck,” these three words Buck already heard from three people important to him, but none of them broke him like that. “You died. I heard dad said that to Carla,” Buck feels his hoodie getting wet on his chest, but he doesn't care so much. The only thing he cares about right now is figuring out how he can help Chris come to terms with what happened to him. Help Chris heal. “You've been in a coma for so long. We-we almost lost you. I came to talk to you. You were so, so not yourself. I don't want you to leave. I don't want you or dad to die," now Chris is really crying and Buck's heart hurts more than ever. “And I-I know you and dad can't control it, but please promise me that you'll always try to come back. Please promise, Buck.”
Buck is crying now, too.
911 Spoilers Season 3: You’ve been warned. 😅 Buddie Rewatch
Episode 3 (Part 1)
I originally was going to post Episode 2 and 3 together, but I forgot how much I wrote for Episode 3. In my journal I wrote 10 pages worth of notes. That was with sloppy hand writing and more mushed together words. It explains why this Episode took me a while to transcribe. I am posting Episode 3 into two parts, because for the first time ever, I’ve gone past the character limit. Which is very surprising since I have other long posts on my page and have never come close. That being said, Part 2 will be posted as soon as possible and it will be today.
Episode 3: The Searchers
We see all the damage the tsunami has caused as Buck walks around injured screaming for Christopher. He sees a dead body and right after finds Chris’ glasses. In that moment he contemplates the reality that Chris is possibly gone. Puts the glasses around his neck.
We again see a quick flash back to Buck and Chris right before the disaster.
Couple that is about to be divorced, is stuck on Ferris wheel and Bobby and Eddie approaching, we properly meet Lena. We learn that the 136 has been separated.
Lena instantly knowing Eddie has served based on his demeaner.
Lena and Eddie both jumping off the Ferris wheel at an extremely dangerous height before it collapses.
The 118 has been officially been separated. Lena and Eddie already bumping heads when it is discovered that she was injured. Bobby sends Eddie to go with her to medic in case she tries to sneak off.
Eddie tries to call Christopher but has to leave a voicemail for Buck to tell him that he is going to be late due to the emergency. He hopes Chris and him are having fun.
“He there is a kid under here!” as buck is walking past. For a moment believes it could be Chris. He helps out and to his dismay realizes it is not Chris. He begins to ask the group if any one has seen Christopher and gives a brief description. One man in the group gives him hope and tells him that he may be with the group that was headed towards the bakery. Buck starts running towards that direction.
This scene really showcases that against all odds, Buck has not given up on finding Chris alive. I never really thought the writers would kill off Christopher. It wasn’t something I’d ever want to entertain. I was 99.9% sure Chris would be found alive. I was really concerned he’d be badly injured.
There is a family talking to Athena, asking for help. She tells them the best thing they could do is go to one of the shelters. They are a bit discourages, but grateful. There is a Spanish speaking woman who is holding a child in a red sweater.  The camera holds on her for a few seconds.
The first time watching this episode, I really did not pay much attention to this family. I was sad for them, but my concern was figuring out where and who would find Chris. Now I realize how stupid I was for overlooking this moment.
Buck is at the bakery, searching for Christopher. Finds a little boy wearing a similar shirt, runs over to him believing it is Christopher. He is of course wrong. We see him for a split-second feel defeated. A teenage boy approaches him and tells him he is bleeding. For the first time in this entire disaster, it becomes obvious that Buck has neglected himself the entire time and begins to collapse. The strangers around him catch him and sit him down. Buck looks around confused.
This scene in particular really shows us that the entire time Buck has been out there he’s been heavily focused on finding Christopher and helping other civilians. He did not for a second think about his safety or the fact that he is an anti-clotting medication.
Eddie and Lena finally make it to the VA hospital. Lena is quick to take a list from a nurse there to see if her captain has been admitted. Eddie tries to get her to focus on getting treatment. As Eddie walks Lena into the hospital, he notices a child. Lena quickly asks if he is being reminded of his son. This is when Eddie realizes that the kids is choking/drowning and sweeps into action.
Doctor asks Eddie to help out on the floor. Eddie turns to Lena and states, “Sorry, It looks like you’re not getting rid of me anytime soon.” It’s flirty in tone.
I don’t know if Eddie was actually flirting. Or if Lena was ever suppose to be considered a love interest. Putting my head cannon of gay Eddie aside, I do not think this pairing would have worked out romantically. I would have loved a proper friendship. We do get to explore a possible friendship, but I’ll talk about that in later episodes. Just felt the need to state, Eddie was in fact flirting.
While Eddie is helping a patient, Lena approaches him. Lena is adamant about going back out into the disaster to find her captain. Eddie is trying to discourage her and states people are already out there looking for him.  More flirting proceeds. Honestly, it’s small banter, but the tone feels like flirting.
Eddie notices Athena and becomes concerned when he sees blood. Lena realizing her captain is being wheeled in and has been badly injured. As she goes back towards the hospital with the captain, she looks back at Eddie and they both nod at each other.
Buck’s arm has been wrapped with a random fabric in a sloppy attempt to stop his bleeding. He is still looking around for Christopher, even looking over two paramedics preforming CPR making sure the victim is not Chris.
He looks over at everyone in the tents and approaches a nurse with a list. He asks her if they have a Christopher Diaz, she says no and tells him he might want to check the black tent. The one with all the dead bodies.
At this point the first I watched this episode my 99.9% being sure that they would not kill off Christopher went down to an 80%. Was still pretty sure he would be found safe, but they had me doubting.
Buck is actively trying to fight the realization that Chris may be in one of those tents. The camera zooms into his face and you see him holding back tears.  He heads towards the direction of the of the tents.
Eddie Diaz x Fem!reader
TW: Fluffy Smut
Topic: Reader hadn't had any alone time with Eddie since he's been working a lot of shifts lately, so she sets up something just for the two of them.
Tumblr media
Eddie has been working overtime lately, and hadn't had a day off yet with all the calls that were called in. Hell, he hadn't even had time for Y/N and it wasn't fair to her. He texted her and called her when he could to make sure she was alright. Shit, Eddie hated that he was missing spending time with Y/N, but when duty calls, it calls.
Back at home,
Y/N had plans for Eddie as soon as he came on. Buck was on board with the whole plan mainly because he loved Chris. While waiting for Eddie to get off the clock, Y/N told Chris he was getting to spend the weekend with Buck. To which Chris was excited about. To him, it meant he could play video games and didn't have a curfew. After Eddie got home and walked through the doors, he noticed Chris' overnight bags packed. "Y/N? Chris?" He called, setting his duffle bag down.
Y/N came into view with the biggest shit eating grin on her rosey pink cheeks. Eddie raised a brow. He knew something was up when he saw his fiancé with that shit eating grin that he came to knew. "What's going on, babe?" He asked, kissing her lips.
"Chris is spending the weekend with Buck. I have plans for just us two since you finally get a couple days off." Y/N smiled at him. Eddie's eye lit up. "Really now?" He pulled her close to him. "Wait until Chris leaves." She laughed. Eddie bit his bottom lip.
The doorbell rang.
"Oh, that must be Buck." Y/N threw open the door. "Hey, Buckaroo." She grinned. "Hey to you too, blue eyes." He chuckled. "Chris ready?"
"Yep, here he comes." Y/N replied, looking over her shoulder.
"Hey, Buck!" Chris smiled.
"Hey buddy, you ready to go?" Buck smiled, taking the bag from Eddie.
After Chris and Buck left,
Y/N pulled Eddie to the couch, straddling his lap, she dimmed the lights. "I think this is what to been needing after working so many hours with no days off." She kissed his lips.
"Mmm, yeah, I think it is." Eddie groaned, returning her kiss. He slid his hands under her dress, surprised that she wasn't wearing any panties. "No panties?" He smirked.
"Nope." She grinned, kissing his neck, and leaving hickeys as she went.
Eddie moaned. "Fucking tease." He picked her up, and carries her to their bedroom. He kicked the door closed behind him. He placed her on the bed, as he pushed her dress up, pulling her legs apart. He kissed Y/N's inner thighs.
She moaned his name. "Mmm, Eddie."
Eddie pulled himself up, pulling his shirt off. Y/N sat up, and slid her dress over her head. Eddie grinned at the sight. "No bra either, hmm?"
Y/N shook her head as she got down on her knees, undoing his jeans. She pulled them down as his cock sprang free. She looked up at him, and then wrapped her hand around his thick, cock. She took him into her mouth. "Oh fuck!" Eddie moaned. He grabbed a fistful of hair. She moved her head up and down, taking in every inch of him.
Before long, Eddie picked up Y/N, pressing her back against the wall. Without warning, he pressed his throbbing cock inside of her. Y/N moaned, gripped Eddie's hair as he moved inside of her without warning.
"Oh, god Eddie! Yes!" She moaned, as he moved in and out of her deeply.
Eddie moaned, as he then moved her to the bed. He repositioned her, so she was doggy style. Then, he moved himself back inside of her.
"Eddie, fuck yes!" Y/N moaned his name. Y/N moved so she was on top of Eddie. She placed both hands on his chest, and she began to ride him. Eddie moaned her name. "F-fuck, Y/N!" He moaned.
An hour into Eddie and Y/N making love, they both reached their climax, and before they knew it, Y/N released all over Eddie's cock, her legs trembling, and she was breathing hard and heavy.
Eddie released inside of her, moaning her name as he finished. "Fuck." He laid beside her, his breathing heavy. He smiled, pulling the blankets over the two of them.
"Did this relax you, baby?" Y/N asked, smiling up at Eddie, as she rests her head against Eddie's chest.
Eddie smiled. "Yes, I did relax. This is exactly what we needed. I am sorry that I've been neglecting us. It's just the cap has us working all these crazy hours, and what the non stop calls coming in-" Eddie breathed a sigh of relief.
Y/N smiled, "You don't have to apologize, Eddie. It's your job. And I know sometimes you need some loving too."
Eddie chuckled. "You know, I'm looking forward to our wedding day. I'm excited to see you in your beautiful dress, and I cannot wait till officially call you Mrs. Diaz." He kissed her nose. And looked down at the sound of soft snoring, only to see Y/N had fallen asleep. He smiled.
