Rott Update
So! It's done and debugged.
It's been a long year, a hard one, but hopefully things will change and I'll be able to get back into gear and into the groove of things again (an explanation post coming soon to a theater near you).
I'm not going to lie... there's a lot here that is rough, there's a bit I'm not too proud of, but truth be told if I don't release it as is I'm never going to get anything done. FOR THE MOST PART, it is a complete experience; there should be nothing here that isn't completely playable or obviously a placeholder. If there is let me know and I'll fix that.
Keep in mind that old saves might not work with the current build. If you come across a bug and you have used an old save, you may need to restart the game to get it to work properly.

This version of the game includes the following:
The equivalent of the full first four chapters that were included in the original version of the game is now included. I've now caught up on the rewrites and will be moving onto the completely new chapters after a brief break.
You can now meet an additional three to six romancable characters with varying degrees of interaction; Lokeira, Korrin, Ettia, Ardwen, Nox, and Bex!
Train with Severa, Herron, or Spotter and potentially see a start to your own romances with them during the festival.
Get rejected!
Make a bargain.
Speak to a messenger of the Gods?
The original dreams in chapter one were edited. Typos were fixed and some passages were changed. In some cases, additional choices were added.
A light mode has been added. It's a little bit rough and I would like to do some further changes to it but for now it's here. If you need some changes made or additionally want further colour modes added just reach out and I can see what I can do.
The relationship screen now mentions milestones in your relationships with certain characters (both romantic and platonic!)
Known bugs:
As far as I can tell I've ironed out most of the bugs but there's always inevitably some that sneak through and I have no doubt that there will be others. There's two main things I haven't yet been able to fix.
There may be some visual issue that I haven't gotten around to but aren't a priority at the moment. If you see one please let me know so I can note it down for later.
This one is a bit illusive. You may find you are unable to progress the game near the end of the final chapter. I currently cannot replicate this bug (I've tried, trust me I've tried) and thus have no idea whether it's fixed or not so... watch out.
​That being said, I'm glad to finally get this finished. I'm gonna be having a brief break before getting back into it (mostly to find and compile my old notes for the next few chapters).

animated tumblr icon masterpost
(EDIT (7/10): it is no longer possible to have an animated icon if you did not have one previously. staff has admitted that this "feature" was added accidentally and that it's already been patched. i'll be removing any now-irrelevant segments from the intro and the FAQ. check the notes if you want to see earlier versions of this post)
two days ago, tumblr added the ability to have an animated icon by using an animated webp without giving out any official information on it (from what i can tell). i'm making this post to reduce the amount of questions i get about this. i'll be updating it with any new information i come across. if you have any questions after reading this post, feel free to ask
before i start, as of now, the web version of tumblr plays animated icons automatically which means icons with flashing lights/colors are a danger to people with photosensitivity. do not abuse this feature! remember to keep your icon safe for others by avoiding using any animated images with flashing lights/colors
also, please note that i do not use the tumblr app and i don't know how it works or how it differs from the web version. i use the desktop website as well as the website on my phone's browser (safari)
with that out of the way, here are some frequently asked questions:
7) if a blog has an animated icon, the animation only plays if i click on the icon. otherwise it's stuck on the first frame. why is this?
it's probably because of the platform you're using tumblr on. i use the web version and this doesn't happen to me, it just automatically plays on its own continuously. from what i can tell, this bug(?) only occurs on the tumblr app (depending on which device you use)
8) i use the app and i can't see anyone's animated icons, it's stuck on the first frame no matter what i do. how do i fix this?
check to see if you need to update the app
9) all the animated icons on the page suddenly froze up, what do i do?
try scrolling a little bit, that should unfreeze them. i don't know why this happens or why doing that fixes it 🫥
10) i had an animated icon and now it won't move. why did this happen and how do i fix this?
unfortunately i don't know why this happens, sorry. i could be wrong but from what i've seen i don't think you can fix it ☹️
11) i currently have an animated icon, if i upload a different animated webp image will it still work?
from what i've seen, no. if you want to keep your animated icon as it is, i'd suggest not changing it
12) i have an animated icon, if i edit my blog appearance (without changing the icon) will it mess up my icon?
if you edit your blog appearance via the desktop theme editor (https://www.tumblr.com/customize/yoururl), it should be fine

So, I've been dealing with burnout by messing around in Daz3D a lot, and made Valefar to the best of its ability, which turns out is pretty advanced. It's basically a glorified character creator with a moderate learning curve, and I had to do a lot of touching up in CSP since the clothing system is very hit or miss. The spots and scars I also added myself by editing the base textures and will probably see a revamp at some point since I'm not that happy with the one over his eye. Unfortunately, I'm not well versed enough in 3D programming wizardry to figure out how to seamlessly edit over... well, seams. Yet, anyway. And I tried a dozen different ways to do something more efficient and more accurate than my initial attempt, but turns out what I did actually *was* the simplest. lol
Other features I intend on doing myself, such as his branding tattoos, horns, tail, paws, and maybe hair if I'm feeling brave. Since his is technically longer and usually tied back with a ribbon. All of that sounds very simple but then you gotta remember that it must be done in Blender and I die a little inside. Because nothing is ever simple in Blender. Anyway.
The cool thing about Daz is that you can create scenes and such and the lighting system is very good and it's fairly easy to light a scene and take pictures decently well within a few minutes. I have yet to perfect the art so all I have to show are WIPs and "test" renders.

The first two here were from a much earlier version of him before I figured out how to bend the horns to my liking as well as the lower half of his face. The last one was also kind of an experiment. The clipping is an unfortunate feature that I don't think can be easily fixed from what I know. The clothing layering system is rather... unintuitive. But thankfully, I have the skills to just edit whatever most bugs me in CSP. lol
Also I like making his eyes do the thing.

i wrote quite a bit while people weren’t paying attention to me on Thanksgiving (including finally fixing a bunch of stuff that was bugging me abt Lepidopteran Feeding Behaviors. patch notes 23.11.23 - paragraphs no longer start with Kujen’s name 3+ times in a row. Jesus. I was feverishly ill during the editing process of that one, which should serve as a cautionary tale to me but won’t). however, in the cold light of day I still like what I wrote but am not sure that it is actually the correct foundation for where I want to go. hmm.

Nezhe realized there was a visitor to the Thorn Garden station when he caught sight of a servitor escorting a person in a formal coat that wasn’t blue.
That wasn’t strange. Visitors came to the Thorn Garden all the time to see Mother, and Nezhe was usually just happy when he didn’t have to come greet them. Nezhe liked meeting new people, but Mother never wanted Nezhe to talk in front of visitors. Mother wanted Nezhe to stand there quietly so the visitors could admire what Mother had produced, and then disappear with the servitors.
But a visitor in a scarlet coat meant something else. Nezhe put his slate aside and slithered down off the reading room couch, picture puzzle forgotten. He gave chase at a speed just short of what the servitors would scold him for. Catching up to the figure as they entered the big receiving hall was easy. Stopping, on the other hand…
He felt his toe hit the edge of a marble tile wrong and had just enough time to think Stupid new shoes!— before he tripped right into Mikodez’s legs.
“Fox and hound!” Mikodez righted the rapidly-blinking Nezhe. “Where did you come from?”
Nezhe sniffled once, embarrassed and disoriented. But he decided he was uninjured, and gave Mikodez his most winning smile. “Hi.”
“Hi yourself,” Mikodez said, smiling too. He had crouched down to check that Nezhe was all right. Nezhe pounced. Mikodez’s greatcoat had big pockets, openings circled in gold trim like targets, and he had conveniently put them at Nezhe-height. He had to be quick for Mikodez to let him pull it off, but —
Jackpot! More exciting little masses in the bottom of the pocket than Nezhe could fit in one hand! He dared stir them around once just to be sure he had the most interesting variety of shapes. Then Nezhe snatched his hand out and hid it behind his back. He smiled charmingly at Mikodez again.
“I see I’ve been set up,” Mikodez said solemnly. “Lured into a false sense of security and robbed blind!” Nezhe giggled. “An excellent heist. Keep it up and you’ll make a better fox than I am.”
Nezhe adjusted his grip on his spoils, grinning. It was almost spilling out of his fingers. “Thank you for the candy, Mikodez.”
Mikodez tsked in disappointment. “Nezhe! If you thank me, then I know you have my stolen candy. It’s as good as a confession!”
“But you already know I have your candy!”
“Ah, but if you confess I can take you to court and … have you tickled to death!”
Nezhe shrieked and lurched backwards out of grabbing distance. But the expected attack didn’t come, interrupted by an oddly informal voice. “Having fun?”
A tall man who might have been even fancier than Mother had come up behind Mikodez, accompanied by another of the Thorn Garden’s many birdforms. He must have been Nirai: black and silver. Nezhe fell silent, intimidated by the ornate stranger. Mikodez rolled his eyes and twisted around to look at him. “I am, as a matter of fact! Are you?”
The Nirai sighed. “I’d rather be scrubbing the fungal contamination killing the latest strain of hatchlings out of the mothyard’s atmospheric regulators by hand. At least something useful might be accomplished. The servitors tell me Andan is finally ready,” he said, inclining his head towards the grand staircase that circumscribed the hall. The staircase led to a number of doors Nezhe wasn’t supposed to go in, including Mother’s rooms for meeting very special visitors.
“All right, I’m coming. Sorry, Nezhe,” Mikodez said. “Duty calls. Don’t eat all of those in one go!”
He ruffled Nezhe’s hair and stood up. The Nirai waited for him to straighten his coat, and they went together up the stairs with the two birdforms leading the way.
Nezhe watched them go, unsettled by how the Nirai hadn’t even looked at Nezhe. Once they had disappeared into the upper floor he stood at loose ends for a moment. A cramp in his thumb reminded him that his fist was clenched around a whole ball of candy.
He hastened over to the nearest console table low enough to reach and spread out his prizes on the blue glass. There were two kinds of hard candy Nezhe had never seen before, and — yes! — some of the chewy lychee ones he liked, and Nezhe forgot all about the Nirai.

yes this is a funny bit but also I love that they're showing farmland.
One of my continual gripes with the entire fantasy genre is how often they don't show anyone farming. Especially in pseudo-medieval fantasy worlds, the vast majority of the population would be spending their lives as farmers, but also PEOPLE HAVE TO EAT. Where is the farmland. Where. Where is it.
(I loved the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings movies but it always bugged me that the ONLY farmland we EVER saw was in the fucking Shire. What is everyone else EATING.)
EDIT: later in the episode it's implied this is just dead grass they bring back to life??? to me it looks like a field of mature grain! Meh.

Couldn't decide if i wanted to keep my initial idea of having her only have purple legs or if i wanted her to be fully purple since the outfit washes her out. Either way this is what she'd look like if Cas got caught by the Spider Queen! She is now 'Recluse*' the experiment. {* Name has since been changed to 'Fiddle')
{THE COLORS LOOK WAY DARKER ON MY PHONE- on my comp the purple looked more lavender. I don’t wanna edit it rn though cause I put my comp away :/ I’ll see about color picking from a different ref or something idk}
She isn't treated the best by the spider crew since she doesn't want to help them take over the world, constantly using her brain to figure out loopholes in the Queen's orders. Her personality is very casual despite her situation, constantly making jokes and teasing the others. If she wasn't so good at her job then spider queen would've gotten rid of her ages ago- the two have a very strained relationship because recluse will call SQ out when she thinks her plans are bad and find any way to challenge her that she's able. Despite this she's actually pretty nice towards the other spiders!
She has a love-hate relationship with Syntax. He finds her really annoying and thinks she's stupid- like the queen's own personal jester- she never takes anything seriously and it bugs him. Meanwhile Fiddle finds his insults funny and informative and actually likes his company- he's the one who she spends the most time with since he's trying to fix the venom she was injected with, constantly running tests and keeping her close in his lab. When it's later revealed that the venom is actually working as intended and she's been acting this whole time he's floored. He thinks his data is off or the tests got tampered with because there's no way that she could have been playing them this whole time. When she confirms this he suddenly sees her in a new light- drawn to intelligence he wants to know how smart and crafty she Really is. She becomes a puzzle he wants to solve. Fiddle is more open to letting hints of her true self slip in front of him because she relates to him, she wants to save him from the queen and help him lead a normal life again. She also just thinks its funny to see his face when she corrects him or adds onto a theory when he's thinking out loud- especially when she's Right.
Goliath is her buddy, her favorite spider of the bunch. He's the only one who goes out of his way to visit her in her little corner of the lab since she is/is going to be part of the group soon. He wants to make her assimilation into the group easy so they can work together flawlessly. Where with Syntax she purposely drops hints, with Goliath she legitimately is slipping up and letting her walls down. She talks about her past and hobbies and anything under the sun when they're having their private chats. They also work out together- both being brawlers they share tips and their routines. He's the only one of the group she'll sing for- though it's just small jingles or a couple lines whenever a song gets stuck in her head. He's the only one who can get close when she's going berserk- physical proof that she's starting to trust/care for him. He helps her look after her cat since she's cooped up in the lab almost 24/7. He gives me big bro of the group vibes- strong and silent but when he talks he can definitely talk some shit/sass. I feel like he'd make quiet offhanded comments when Syntax and Huntsman are bickering that Fiddle would pick up on and laugh with him about.
Huntsman is interesting because they don't have much to do with each other at first. He doesn't really interact with Fiddle unless he has to and finds her to be a waste of time and resources. An opinion he Loves to share with Syntax and hold over him since the new venom and experiment fall under his responsibility (Queen got tired of dealing with her even though the venom is supposed to be Her thing while Syntax is computers- she figures he's smart he'll figure it out) Though when the two actually talk he finds it kind of hard to keep an aggressive or mocking attitude, either his jabs roll off her like they're nothing and they end up having a semi-normal conversation after she steers him away from insults and into an actual topic. Or she's so weirdly positive that it infuriates him, he's not used to people reacting to him with kindness and positivity- especially when he's Trying to be Mean. He ends up leaving in a huff and sulking that He's the angry one now or finding something else to do to distract himself. After his encounter with Sandy is when things start calming down with him- he's nicer to her cat and even offers to look after it when Goliath can't. She still infuriates him but now it just reminds him of how Sandy was acting and gets him thinking about their encounter again... he kinda ignores her to avoid thinking about it too hard. But it'd start keeping him up and so he ends up coming to her to ask some questions and share some thoughts. She's completely blindsided that somehow Huntsman of all people has been sent down a redemption arc/is becoming self aware but wholeheartedly supports it and encourages him to come back and talk to her ("or this new person who's got you thinking- no? ok ok i don't mind the conversation anyways!"). She becomes something of a confidant to him since he feels he can't share this with the others and it's not like Fiddle would call treason considering her position, plus nobody would ever believe her if she tried!
I see Fiddle as their gofer- since her upper body looks normal enough she can go into town and buy (or steal) things for them without much fuss. Of course she's heavily monitored through a tracker and surrounding cameras but she likes doing grocery runs since she gets to go outside and have a couple minutes to feel like a normal person again. She also takes over chores and some of the cooking since they can't reliably make her do anything else. Spider Queen would've made her into her handmaiden, but doesn't trust that she won't ruin her clothes or hair or Something just to spite her.
And then there's LBD, Fiddle doesn't trust her and the only time she gets openly serious or actually acts like a part of the group is when she isn't around. She's constantly trying to advise SQ against having her around, she can Sense the power in her and does not trust it for a second. She's spent lifetimes dealing with demons and there's no way someone with that much power is just here to help SQ of all people. She doesn't know who she is, the true extent of her power, nor her motive, but Fiddle avoids LBD like the plague. Once SQ finally gets wise to LBD's true nature Fiddle doesn't hesitate to tell her they should run- where Huntsman chokes Fiddle is standing up and saying it without a hint of fear for her queen. She may not like the woman but the venom compels her to do whatever it takes to keep her safe and there's no way they can take LBD on while still sharing the underground caverns. They need to get far away and regroup because she obviously wanted Something from them and the mech isn't complete yet. In this Au the spiders survive at the cost of Connie, Fiddle unleashes the full might of the consumption to hold LBD and the Mayor off so the others can get away and gets captured. idk if they needed SQ specifically or just a powerful demon's soul so i'm going with the latter in this one. There's specifics to what happens exactly for they to get connie without killing Fiddle- who ends up getting away thanks to a last act by Connie- but that'd be a bit graphic so lets just say the jacket used to have sleeves 6-6 anyways during the fight Fiddle gets to help by tapping into her connection with Connie- who was used to make the mech- and waking them up so to speak- having them help destroy the mech from the inside, then after LBD's defeat Fiddle reclaims the lost shards and her little sibling. Lots of character development could happen in the time they were apart, relationships could change and the spiders could become more of a closer knit group- maybe pull a DBK and chill out on the world conquering idk. this is just a base idea but a fun one to consider. i could just let lbd have sq but there's no way the others would let her get captured without dying first and the venom still affects Fiddle so she can't leave her either (even if she really wants to)

Flufftober #26: Blankets
A/N:  Late, but the idea popped into my head while listening to a music piece while shattered (I forget which one, will look it up tomorrow), and I’ve had the concept in here for awhile, so this is piece that I wrote in an hour from about 0245 GMT to 0345 GMT, with a few minutes to edit and for Spouse to read.

He’d crept in late.  He’d missed her entirely yesterday, and he almost missed her today, but he’d made it over to climb into bed next to her...
but that didn’t stop him from working. 
No, she knew that even if she suggested he put away that dim datapad, he’d just port the work to his head via his implants.  At least this way was more honest. 
“Theron?”  Eva’s voice sounded strange to herself, a little too high and sleepy to be her, normally. 
Theron’s focus remained on his datapad, but he acknowledged her with a rising “hmm?”  in response.
Eva rolled over to face him, wrapped in blankets, even though it was summer.  Valkorion was screwing around with her internal thermostat again.  “Why are we fighting this war?”
There was just enough light to see his eyes slide to the side to look at her.  “We’re fighting to liberate the galaxy from --”
“No, no.  I meant you and me.  Personally.”  Eva managed to extract one arm from her well-spun cocoon and propped herself up to look at Theron, his back against the headboard.  
With a sigh, he told her, again, “You’re the Outlander.  You’re the symbol of this resistance against tyranny -- one of the great hopes of the galaxy --”
“And you’ve been letting Lana run wild with the propaganda about how wonderful I am.  I mean, the woman has to have some release for her creative furies ... but I think you’re beginning to buy in a little too much.” 
Theron’s expression didn’t shift in any direction.  He just looked at her.
With a sigh of her own, Eva pulled herself to sit upright in the middle of the bed.  “I’m a smuggler.  Not a savior.  I know what Lana said --”
And together, they imitated the absent advisor:  “The greatest con job in the galaxy.” 
“Yeah,”  Eva said.  “But... why us?  Why do we have to throw down this time?”
Theron let his right hand brush loose strands of her hair away from her face.  “You know I won’t just stand by -- I’ve always believed in the future and what we need to do --”
“Isn’t that what we all said last war?  Fight now so the next generation won’t?”  Eva let one hand snake out of her blankets to draw the outer layer back over her shoulder again.  “We born during the war.  Your parents fought their war so whoever was next wouldn’t have to...”  With a gesture of her hand, Eva motioned back toward five, six years ago.  “And there we were -- you killing off Dark Councilors on the regular, infiltrating the Empire... me smuggling or stealing anything not nailed down.  Breaking blockades and evaccing planets.”
Eva let her hand fall.  “What was it all for?”
A glint of metal indicated that Theron had tilted his head slightly, changing the angle of the light from the datapad.  “What’s bugging you?”
Instead of answering him, Eva got up, taking all the covers with her.  She made a hesitant step into the pool of light on the floor of the captain’s quarters.  Draped as she was, Theron couldn’t help but compare her to the priestesses of the Three Moons.  The women were cool, sacred, and untouchable, their clothes drifting off them like rays of moonlight. 
No wonder they’d wanted her to join them -- she looked the part, with her dark hair cascading down.
“Run away with me.”
She’d made that offer five years ago.  A couple of times. 
But duty.  “We can’t abandon everyone here --”
“We’ll make sure they’ll be all right --”
“We’ve done so much --”
“But it won’t matter.  Because there’s always a next war.”  Now that haunting figure turned to look at him directly, dark eyes gleaming.  “Run away with me.”
Steadily, Theron got to his feet (he’d at least taken off his boots).  “You got an unwanted passenger.  We need to fix that --”
“He wants to live another day and he does have the ability to shut up, when he wants to --”
“Eva.”  Theron reached from the shadows into her light to grip her shoulders.  “Why?  What’s bothering you?”
She understood the question but desired a change of venue.  “Can we at least pretend we’re going to go to bed?” 
Eva let the blankets drop off her shoulders and she mutely offered them to Theron and his expertise in bedmaking, mastered at Coronet City Military Academy. 
Finally, when both of them were in bed, having co-equal shares of the covers, facing each other:  “Did you see the recruits from Ord Mantell?”
“Yeah, briefed them.” 
A beat.
A thought.
The question.  “Did they know Corso?”
A humorless laugh.  “Yeah, kinda.  He was around.”
“...did you know them?”
A jaw trembled, subtly.  “Yeah.  I knew them.”   Eva swallowed down hard and spun out the tale, her anger laced through the yarn.  “I knew them when they weren’t even ten years old.”   She looked Theron in the eye, all defiance.  “I robbed Fort Garnik on Ord Mantell to get them medicine.  So they could grow up and be big and strong and not fight in another war.”
“And now they’re fighting in your war.”
She nodded.
Pajamas slid against sheets, and fabric shifted on skin.
Against Theron’s chest, Eva gave her orders.  “They’re not of age.  They lied on their enlistment papers....but don’t send them back to Ord....nothing there.” 
”They’ll be safe here.  And fed.”
Another sigh.  “What’s it all for?”
Both of them were very nearly asleep when he arrived at an answer.
“...tomorrow.  So we can try to make the next day after that better.
“You sound like a gambler in need of a holocomm number and an intervention.”
“You wouldn’t like me if I didn’t take that risk.  Every time.”
“ ‘Like’ isn’t the word.”
Theron knew the word.  So did Eva.

technically, we haven't passed the 6-months mark but whatev'
Since there's been a bit more activity on this page lately (hello new followers!), I thought it be a good time to have a little retrospect on what has happened the past few months and a couple of my thoughts. Also some milestones passed :D
Note: I discuss some stats of the game, out of transparency and to give people one particular view on how IF games are doing.
It's going to be pretty long, since I'll discuss all projects I have at hands, so under the cut!

Status: Completed.
I am publishing this on the day I released MtP, the first version at least, on itch. This was my first ever IF game and my first 'serious' piece of writing in years. The game itself if pretty light-hearted, but I hadn't written anything substantial (aside from uni papers) in a long while...
Since, I've been wanting to write something light-hearted again, though I neither had the time or ideas... maybe one day, lol. It was really a fun project to start out with this medium and program!
This project had been shelved pretty much as soon as it was published, as it was a completed project and self-contained stories. Still, last January, I gave it a neat UI update to make it neater. I also published a tutorial on how to reach all endings [link]! But it is also officially and forever shelved! For real this time.
It is not my most popular project by far -and that's more than fine!-, but it has passed the 2k plays mark a few weeks ago! Which was really neat!
Other neat stats:
18 lovely people rated it, with an average of 4.2/5
it has been added to 122 collections
it had a ration of 2.2 views per play (when I calculated it)
Compared to the last retrospection, it tripled in rating and in collections (ish), but the average stayed the same. It has slightly gotten a better view/play ration (0.01 count).

Status: Ongoing/In Beta
Since February, I have been working really hard on this project. I don't think I spent more than a few days away from it, in one form or another, even when my wrists were out of commission. CRWL has seen 2 major story updates and a UI update since the beginning of the year.
I have finally have a clear head/roadmap for the rest of the project and know where I am taking it. It will be a huge project, that will most likely span a few years, looking at my notes and how fast I progress through it. I am dreading a bit how huge it will get, but am also so very excited to see where it goes and how much I will learn from it. I would not be surprised if it crossed the 1M words count at some point, lol -we will pass 100k online in the next update already-.
Speaking of the next update, it should be right around the corner. I know I've been talking about it for weeks now, but the Beta is (or should be) in its last stretch. I have completed all edits/proofreading. All previous bugs have been fixed. The only thing I worry is the formatting, it can get a bit wonky at times. It is frustrating, but I am getting there!

it had a ration of 1.9 views per play (when I calculated it)

This is also the only game with a rating on IFDB.
TBH, I'm gonna need a break from it after the update. It's been non-stop this since January...

Status: ongoing
If you were following me when this game came out (or in its past updates a few months back), you'd know I made this one in less than 2 weeks for a jam. As proud I was to churn out a functionally working game in this time frame, I was never happy with its result. I was forced to scrap most of the story for time constraints and other neat ideas because I did not know how to implement it.
So, when I got frustrated with CRWL since I re-started the project, I've been switching over to this game and worked on it in the hope to release a better version with a proper fleshed out story and better code. It will be a proper Interactive Novel now :P. It really has been bugging me since last year...
Anyway, the new draft has been going really well with 13 out of 30 scenes written. Each character will have a fleshed out background and story. While there will be little in the character creation side and choice (since the game goes forward as you play a round), I wanted to have the story be as least repetitive as possible. Each round/scene has its own story (or 2) and maybe ending(?)
I am also planning to have a new UI! If I can manage to make it work...
Unsurprisingly, this project never took off (but I hope it will after I finish it, cause I think it is really cool -game within a game type-). We just passed 400 plays! It has been rated 4 times, for an average of 4.3 and added to 38 collections. It has a ratio of 2.9 views per play.

Status: Hiatus
TTTT has been on hiatus almost as soon as I started teasing it. It was intended to be created for the IF Comp of 2022 (but I, like, disappeared for a while). I've always been thinking about this project since, but didn't know how to get back to it. (I wanted to have it out for the Spring Thing, but tbh I was knees deep in CRWL, so yea).
The main problem I had is I pushed myself in a corner by focusing on details rather than the big picture. I have the code ready to go-ish, but the story never took off (because I was too focused on ONE thing). It was so frustrating, I just gave up.
Lately, I've been discussing the project around me, and I got excited to go back to it. It is not a priority at all -I have enough in my hands-, but if I can manage a IF Comp 2022 release, I'd be pretty happy. Otherwise Spring Thing 2023?

Status: Completed/Hiatus
This one is also a Jam baby. Created in 1 month during January for the @/interact-if game jam, it made me excited to work on a different genre and different setting. I was also on a Sci-fi binge in my reading list then :P
Still, I wasn't happy with the cliffhanger I gave it (you can ready why here). I also wanted to continue the story in some way. I know the big twists and what needs to be revealed. Also the Robot. I heard the players loud and clear, the robot will come back.
BUT I haven't had the time or spoons for it (made me real sad tbh). I have been working on it behind the scenes here and there. There was some UI concept for the codex (with a working design) and a bunch of notes on my desk.
Before I come back to it, I want to have the story structure clear and ready for writing. I don't have it just yet. So for now, it is essentially on hiatus until I am ready to go back to it.
Still, some neat stats for the way:

it has been played over 1.5k times (yay), for a ration of just less than 2 views per play.
It took off when released and got a few peaks since, but it is not a popular project either. Oh well :P I had fun with it, it's all that matters.

Technically The Trials and Tribulations of Edward Haucourt, a Lovecraftian Interactive Fiction (but that's way too long to include in the lil' banner.
Note: I am not writing this project, only coding it. M is taking his time writing it, because this project is for fun and writing is not always fun. I have been trying not to nag him, because it doesn't help.
The story has been mapped on paper by chapters. 2/8 chapters are drafted and 1 is coded (just to see how it looks).
In any case, whatever is written will be uploaded in October 2022. Hopefully the whole game will be done. At worst, I have 2 chapters.

Since March, I've become one of the mods of @/interact-if (you probably saw my icon on your feed if you follow that blog, or if you hang out in the discord) and helping out with the events (you should check out the interviews!). It's been exciting to read the different experiences of other authors and be able to share it with so many people. It also meant I taken a bit of a break sharing much over on this page. I should maybe remedy that.
I also have a side blog @manonamora-rb where I reblog stuff that doesn't fit the vibe I want to have on this one. I want to do like I preach by rebloging stuff I like so I usually reblog dump and queue a bunch of stuff there. If I've reblog an old post of yours, it was prob in my likes and I just didn't want to lose it (I've seen a few blogs I follow disappear).

Week 14
Week 14 Breakdown
Coded in a player light to help navigate the map and to act as part of the main time-based mechanic
Coded in the first of the player interactions in the official project- box breaking and item pickups! 
The player could now interact with a box, have it disappear or “break”, and gain a randomized amount of fuel for their light
Coded in a game over where, once the player runs out of fuel, the light goes out and the player dies (still needed to code in the actual Game Over screen though, I was just using a placeholder to make sure the code worked correctly)
Fixed bugs as I came across them:
Torches were spawning on doors and blocking the way 
Some items were missing colliders
The boxes the player could break would have misaligned hit boxes when generated in facilities but not in the testing rooms (this was the hardest to figure out but I fixed it!)
Worked on filming and editing THE MEGA UPDATE and, of course, writing all of this out and editing down/compiling all of the behind the scenes footage I had gathered to post here :)

some progress pics + notes of my hero’s graveyard redraw btw ^_^ i didn’t take pictures of Every stage (i really only take screenshots whenever i’m done for the day and want to gaze lovingly at my creation later on without opening clip studio paint lmao) and tbh i’m a little lazy to go back and go thru each layer so it’ll jump around a bit

notes: the base colors! the base colors for the rabbit and chick changed quite a few times throughout the process (yay tonal editing) since i just couldn’t be satisfied with them... the chick especially was hard to get down. actually it was the last thing i went back to almost entirely redo, near the very end. it turns out the problem was the line art :,)

notes: actually i really like how i made the rocks :) on the original i couldn’t figure out the background very well so i just made it a city, but this scene actually takes place underground, and i wanted to stay as close as possible to the game. so i guess this makes it less of a redraw and more of a reimagining of the same scene? anyway. the far back looks a bit basic but i’m happy with it

notes: painted floor and added moss. the moss was so hard to figure out i actually had to download an entirely new brush for it just to BEGIN figuring it out... not pictured is the 12+ variations of moss patterning i painted, deleted, repainted, fiddled with then deleted, etc. figuring out the lighting really helped me figure out the moss. i added shading/lighting to all animals (you’ll notice the shadows from the rabbit’s base colors have disappeared), and texturing to the rabbit.

notes: added shading to the rocks, and increased the amount of shading on the ‘front’ (side that is facing the viewer) of the rabbit and chick. they  didn’t feel like they fit in with the scene otherwise. the rabbit is fine, but the chick is making me scream and cry and shake because it looks too out of place..

notes: fixed some lighting AND REDID THE ENTIRE CHICK. something about it still bugs me but it looks like it belongs now. also added some grass and budding flowers (which if you notice are the yellow flowers you can eat in game). i didn’t make it the flowers from the original scene/painting i did because i forgot to draw them i felt like it would be more fitting. ERC-003 sacrificed themself so that all living things could continue to thrive in what remains of tokyo, and that includes the plants herbivores rely on to live.
