Ectober Week, Day 4: Darkness/Poison

Light -> Dark

The shadows on his face were probably the most technically difficult piece but I had a lot of fun figuring it out. Getting all the different levels of transparency to work right was SO satisfying. 

Original sketch idea below; I had to change up my colours a bit so the transparency trick would work. While I was at it I decided to give him a core glow and some will-o’-the-wisp friends because they were a really cool reveal. I also decided to have him look a bit cheeky instead of seeming so serious. Though, the og dark version has a very appealing creepy factor I enjoy.

pg 1: Life is defined by movement, growth, and change.

pg 2: Ghosts are defined by our memories. It’s what drives us.. without a heartbeat.

pg 3: But there are things we’re not supposed to remember. Ember writes duets she never sings. Youngblood always floats 10 ft above the road. They don’t know why.

pg 4: We exist as a snapshot of a world that doesn’t exist.

pg 5: So we forget identifying details about our past. It’s said this is so loved ones can move on. Without getting stuck in one moment in time.

pg 6: Because when we do remember. Too much. About our old lives. We do things we shouldn’t.

Phantom ghost puppeteering Fenton skeleton in a white torn/decayed hazmat suit. 

I love the phandom idea of Danny haunting his own corpse or being fully dead and either not accepting or realizing it. I wanted to use chains from the very beginning to show how his two halves are trapped together into a performance of normalcy. The final version lost the performative aspect but it I think it emphasizes Danny’s dual nature better. (and I may have bitched about it at the time but his skeleton WAS fun to draw lol)

I still might come back to this sketch and finish it off one day.

After a weirdly long break in phandom events, we’re back with the spookiest event of the year: Ectober Week!

We’re giving it to you three whole weeks early to ensure you all have enough time to prepare your week of spooky creations! 

And no your eyes don’t deceive you, each day of the week you have TWO prompts to choose between. So you can pick one or the other to do for that day, or if you really wanna get crazy you can even try to incorporate both prompts on the same day to your creation!
