Why Fairy Tail's and Eden's Zero's fanservice is a problem

I'm a big fan of Fairy Tail. I started watching it in 2020 and got hooked due to the comedy and characters. It was such a good anime, and the manga was even better.

However, as I went on watching it, the fanservice began to get, too excessive. Everytime, it felt nearly every comedic or serious moment that had a midway gag was interrupted by showing off Lucy's chest or something.

This got even worse later on, with one of the anime episodes having an episode where all the women in Fairy Tail had to dress in skimpy swimsuits in front of a whole crowd.

Now, you maybe wondering, what's the big deal about being fanservicey? Well, for one, it ruins all potential gags for funny moments. There could be a clever moment for a joke, only for the punchline to literally be boobs. And when there's a serious, high-stake moment? Interrupt it with BOOBS.

Not only does this ruin moments or just lazy jokes, but when I'm watching the anime or reading the manga, I feel like a pervert, and hiding it from sight.

And Eden's Zero made it even WORSE!

You know what happens in the most important lore-drops of Eden's Zero? The girls are bathing in the nude, and the boys are chilling. No, the meeting doesn't take place in like a conference room or a designated area like a normal meeting, no, a fucking bath. Just so they can show off the girls bodies and shit. And these aren't just adults, there are also some minors there!

Everything fanservice related in Fairy Tail and Eden's Zero is absolutely terrible, and should really be removed.

I will say (as someone who just started Edens Zero) that I don't agree with the people saying Rebecca is knockoff Lucy. I think they're very, very different characters with different backgrounds, motivations, and even codes of ethics and it's honestly disingenuous to say otherwise. I'm sure I'm showing my bias in favor of Rebecca-types, here (though I have ALWAYS loved and still love Lucy) but Rebecca's much more of a down-in-the-dirt heroine. I admittedly don't think her and shiki's dynamic is as well-written or interesting as Natsu and Lucy's (so-far, but then anything Mashima/Mashima-esque tends to be "slow-burn") but Rebecca's practicality, toughness, and general street savoir-faire is honestly a good counterbalance to Shiki's general purity. idk idk, I have a love/hate relationship with both series but let's at least be honest in both our praise and censure.
