"Kitty?"

Kevin cracks an eye open, looking down to his right where Lando is pressed against him. He'd thought his little brother had finally fallen asleep, exhausted and emotionally wrung out after another round of being screamed at by strangers who couldn't care less that he's only four years old.

"Mm?"

"Kitty, when we go home?"

And that breaks Kevin's heart. He doesn't have an answer, doesn't have even a vague idea, and offering 'soon' is too dishonest for his surprisingly (and often annoyingly) perceptive youngest sibling.

So he's honest.

"I don't know, egern." He brushes back soft curls, fights down the growl that bubbles in his chest at the feeling of hair matted with dried blood.

"Oh." Lando's quiet for another moment and Kevin almost thinks he's fallen asleep again. Then, so quietly, "I miss Papa."

Kevin tilts his head back against the wall, barely wincing at the rough scrape of brick against his crown, doing his best to keep the tears at bay. He misses their family too, an ache in his chest that grows every minute that they're stuck wherever they've been taken to.

"Yeah," and he hates the way his voice cracks on the word, emotions clogging his throat, "I miss Papa, too."

"An' Val."

"And Val."

"An' Danny."

"And Danny."

"An' Maxy an' 'Lex an' Georgie an' Sh-arl."

Kevin smiles fondly at the way Lando tries to imitate Charles' accent, not quite right but endearing nonetheless. "I miss them all as well, egern."

Lando slumps against him more heavily, a big sigh heaving from his little body, and Kevin pulls him more comfortably into his lap. He feels curls brush his chin where Lando tucks his cold little nose against his collarbones, and he presses kisses against Lando's temple, forehead, crown.

Quiet descends around them, broken only by the soft, baby snores that escape Lando's slightly open mouth, his breath warm against his chest and Kevin savours holding him. He closes his eyes, but doesn't sleep. He needs to stay alert to make sure he can keep them both, keep Lando, safe.

But he can have this moment, and send a prayer to gods he no longer believes in but hopes are listening anyway that their Papa and uncles will come and get them soon.

German police, tax investigators and customs agents in the southern German state of Bavaria carried out a raid on a villa belonging to an unnamed Russian individual on Thursday.

Officials carrying out the court-ordered search say the unnamed individual is subject to EU sanctions and asset seizures put in place after Moscow's invasion of neighboring Ukraine in February 2022.

"Due to tactical reasons related to the investigation, no further information can be provided," customs officials said.

Reuters news agency reported that the raid targetted Alisher Usmanov, a Russian-Uzbek businessman who was sanctioned in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Photos from the scene showed agents seizing numerous German-made luxury vehicles.

The villa targeted by officials is located in Rottach-Egern at Tegernsee, a well-heeled resort town on a popular lake in the Bavarian Alps, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) southeast of the Bavarian capital of Munich. 

Officials from the Central Office for Sanctions Enforcement (ZfS) say some 30 investigators were involved in the raid and added that the villa in Rottach-Egern was not their only target — raids were also carried out at other Tegernsee properties owned by the sanctioned Russian as well as in Munich.

EU laws stipulate that all assets held by a sanctioned individual are to be frozen and may not be transferred or disposed of, they also include travel bans.

ZfS agents carried out a similar if decidedly larger raid on another Russian oligarch, Alisher Usmanov, in September 2022.

In that operation, 250 agents were involved in coordinated searches at various properties across Germany.

Usmanov, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was accused of money laundering and EU sanctions violations.
