Two Of Us - Loki x OC Drabble
Tumblr media
Description: This is a small little drabble I wrote for my OC, Eir.
Eir decides to turn down the idea of sending a prison guard to inform Loki of the news of his mother’s passing and volunteer herself to do it, knowing out of everyone she should be the one to inform him.
Please enjoy and cry tears with me ;-; was emotionally RUINED writing this
Based on the song ‘Two Of Us’ by Louis Tomlinson, so I recommend listening to that while reading!
“Well, what a pleasant surprise. I thought Father banned you from seeing me” Loki’s voice broke the silence, hearing the footsteps of the female Valkyrie walk into his cage. This was the first time since his imprisonment that Eir had spoken to him actually in person. He didn’t look up from his book that he was reading on his bed to fully look at her.
“Was Mother tired of you asking her to conjure up your image here?” His voice echoed again, darkly. Hoping to get a little bit of a rise out of her. Although the girl didn’t respond, which was unusual. She usually always had a sassy remark to his comments. This caused him to put down his book and look at the beautiful girl standing in front of him.
She was wearing her usual Asgardian robes, although they weren’t the bright blue he was used to seeing. Her robes were black, her hair tied up neatly and tear stains were on her cheeks. He wanted nothing more to go and hold her, ask her what was wrong. But, he knew better. After the stunts he pulled in New York, he knew that she wouldn’t be taken with him. In any way.
“I’ve brought news...that I think it would be better for you to hear in person” Eir spoke, her voice slightly breaking.
Eir knew better than anyone else how much Frigga had meant to him, that’s why when she declined the idea of a castle guard to break the news to him. She felt it would be better for him to hear the news from her. She wanted nothing more than to just forget about the situation and not tell him anything because of two reasons.
One: Actually speaking the news made it become real to her, and that’s the last thing she wanted. She didn’t want to accept the fact that Frigga perished. She had treated Eir like a daughter of her own, and Eir was so thankful for that. She was the one person, other than Loki, who had supported her dreams of singing and not fighting. Frigga was the one person who made her feel important, no matter how small Odin would make her feel.
Two: As much as she hated staring into the evil look in Loki’s eyes, she’d prefer that than to look at the sadness she was about to experience. Loki didn’t break his stone cold exterior often, she had only seen it once. That was when he found out who he truly was. It was painful for her to see.
Loki raised his eyebrow, intrigued. He knew by the clothing it was going to be news about death. Although he figured or more like hoped it was going to be news of Odin’s passing. Maybe he had a chance to get Thor to let him out of his cage. His silvertongue had a way of getting out of everything when it came to Thor.
“Frigga...during the attack on Asgard today, she was…” Eir couldn’t finish her sentence without tears flowing down her cheeks. She didn’t need to finish the sentence, she could tell Loki understood what she meant by the look in his eyes.
Loki couldn’t bring himself to respond to what she said, he was in complete shock. This was the last thing he’d expected to come from her mouth. His grip on the book lessened, and it dropped to the ground making a loud clattering sound. He stood up from the bed, making his way over to the small table and held onto the chair for support. He could feel anger bubbling up in him. Loki clenched his hands together, sending the furniture in his cell flying in all different directions.
Eir didn’t flinch seeing the furniture fly around the room. She knew she was protected from him, as the furniture flew in all different directions except towards hers. The only thing that got near her was the shattered glass from the vase sliding across the ground and gently bumping against her shoe.
“How,” Loki asked, voice breaking and not looking in her direction. He didn’t want her to see the tears welling up in his eyes. He wanted to appear as strong, no matter his emotional state or news that anyone threw at him.
Eir stood silent a moment, debating if she should tell him about how she passed. He knew that he’d blow a gasket once she told him. Although, as much as Loki had lied before, she hated lying to him. He could see through her lies, he’d grown up with her. So, of course, he was able to tell the difference between truth and fallacies.
“Protecting Jane from the Dark Elves” she replied, finally speaking up. Tears were still streaming down her face. She could tell how broken he was and it broke her even more.
Loki let out an angry scream, kicking the broken chair across the cage. He couldn’t believe his mother gave up life for a stupid little ‘fling’ of Thor’s.
“It’s always been for him” he spat, angrily. “Everything they’ve done has always been for him” he raised his voice, turning his sadness into anger.
His anger was put on pause when the felt the familiar warm hand of Eir touch his shoulder. This was the first touch, real touch he’s felt since been placed in his prison. It had been weeks since he was able to feel the gentle touch of Eir or even his mother. Although, he knew he was never going to feel the warmth of his mother’s hug ever again. And he hated Thor for it.
“You know that isn’t true” Eir’s soft voice echoed through his ears. “Your Mother loved you, even after her last breath. The time she spent in the library picking out the perfect books for you proves that” Eir continued on, her voice still broken and sad.
Loki sank into her touch, and before he knew it they were sitting on his bed. He was slouched over, his head in his hands. Despite his efforts to stay strong, Eir was the only person he’d allow himself to appear weak to. He leaned into her, shaking as he cried silently.
Eir wrapped her arms around his weak, tired, crying body and held him close. She started to cry again too. She ran her fingers through his hair, relaxing a bit as she felt his body melt into hers. She rested her head on his, trying her best to try to transfer her magic to his. Although, unfortunately, her magic cannot heal broken hearts as much as she wished it too. She glanced up, seeing the guard trying to usher her out of the cell. She gave his hair one last stroke and leaned down, giving him a light kiss on his head and started to get up only to feel Loki’s hand wrap around hers. His eyes met hers, full of tears and sadness.
“Please don’t leave” his voice echoed, broken. His eyes red.
Eir stayed where she was and leaned against him, closing her eyes.
“I’m not going anywhere”
