Summary:

Yagi Toshinori is going to be late for his football game. Again. Inko and Mitsuki are stuck babysitting. Again. This is what happens when their paths cross...

He was late for his football game. Again. Time had just gone flying past and he hadn't noticed that there were only twenty minutes left. If he didn't get there on time, he would definitely get kicked off the team. HOLY SHIT WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?! he thought angrily, impatiently waiting for the lift to arrive. He was at the mall, and he had come here to get some groceries. He had gotten carried away when he met David along the way, spending a whole load of minutes talking to him while, really, he should have been heading for the campus to join the rest of the team. But nope; he had looked down at his watch, seen that there were still a lot of minutes to go before the game, and had invited his friend to a snack. He could almost hear Gran Torino's voice in his head, telling him grudgingly that you should be more punctual, idiot. He felt his stomach churn with nervousness. Would he even make it on time?

"We shoukd really find a different partime job then looking after a bunch of kids." Mitsuki said. "Seriously. Like, Baristas at Starbucks or something."

"Aww, come on, Mitsu! I think we are doing a pretty good job!" Inko said, nudging her friend's shoulder. The other snorted.

"I am not fit to be a mother. I doubt I will ever have the patience to have kids myself." she said. "I mean, who the hell can stand these brats?"

"Uh..."

"Oi, William!" Mitsuki shouted in English, standing up. "I said that you don't touch dog shit!" the little boy stuck out her tongue at her. Mitsuki instanty went into banshee mode. "BRB," she told Inko, stomping off.

"She's scary." Victor, the oldest of the three kids they were looking after and aged eight, said, walking to stand next to the bench that Inko and her friend usually sat at.

"Usually she's kind," Inko said. Victor looked at her with raised eyebrows. "Aw, come on, she made you cookies that one time!"

"Yeah. And she put chili in them. On purpose."

"She likes spicy things..."

"Inko, let's take them to the mall. I want to find this kid a leash." Mitsuki said, walking back to her. She had William slung over her back like a sack of potatoes, and the little boy was screaming at her to put him down. She ignored it. "Elena! Get here!"

The little girl, who was six, trudged toward them. She wasn't too troublesome, but she hated showering.

"Can't we stay a little longer?" she asked.

"No. We need to get your little brother a leash."

"… what?"

"What you heard. And if the three of you don't argue, then we will get you icecream. Deal?"

"Deal!" the three children chorused back, even William.

"Wow." Inko said, in awe. "Mitsu, perhaps you could be a teacher…?"

"Anything that doesn't involve kids." Mitsuki said, setting William down. "And don't you play with any more dog shit or you won't get icecream!"

The mall was pretty big. And not to mention that it was crowded. Toshinori groaned with fustration as he tried to push his way to the escalators, the lifts being too full for him to go in. But walking was hard, especially since people seemed to just keep filling inside. He had to keep back from snapping at those who carelessly pushed him roughly instead of kindly asking for him to move. Really. It was more than stressing to find himself in this situation. He checked his watch and freaked out. Only sixteen minutes left!

Inko and Mitsuki herded the kids up to the mall entrance. The walk had been short, since they had been at a park only a few minutes away. Inko held Victor hand and had William, who was surprising light, held to her side, bringing up the rear, with Mitsuki and Elena walking ahead. A lot of people were out in the streets, probably on their way to see the big football game coming up. Inko was devasted to see how busy the mall was.

"I thought it was Sunday!" she told Mitsuki in dismay.

"It's Monday." her friend replied. "Let's go."

"Are you sure? What if one of the kids gets... lost. Where's Elena?" Inko said, instantly panicking. The lot of them looked around them for any sign of the little girl, but she was nowhere to be seen.

"FUCK!" Mitsuki swore. "I said I wasn't fit to be a mother!"

Toshinori had somehow managed to get himself to the ground floor. It had been a challenge, shouting apologies as he pushed his way down the escalator, the seconds ticking away in his head like beats for a bomb's impact. He even ended up using the side of one of the escalators as a slide, shouting an apology to the security guard who saw him and everyone else he surprised. It was a relief when he finally reached the ground floor, pushing his way to the entrance. He could make it! He would! Right. That was, if the little girl hadn't stumbled against him.

He looked down in surprise to find a young girl, who looked around the age of five or six, falling to the floor when she collided with his long legs. Her eyes widened, and he saw fear in them.

"Hey, are you okay?" he asked gently, leaning down to help her up again with surprising easiness. People around him had to circle or shove past him, but he was mostly focused on the kid in front of him.

"Are you lost?" he asked. She nodded her head repeteadly, little hands clutching at her flowery dress. Toshinori sighed. He would be late for the football game if he didn't leave. But he wouldn't just ignore a kid in need. That was very much against his own rules.

"Elena?!" Inko called. "Elenaaa?!"

"It's too loud!" Mitsuki said loudly. "She won't hear us!"

"Damn this!" Inko said, hands trembling. She was terrible. How could she have let Elena get lost like that?!

"It's okay. We will find her. Just don't let go off Victor and Shit toucher."

"Hey!"

"Shut up. Not time for this. I am going to look around the entrancw. Inko, you scan the crowd for her, see if you can spot her." with that Mitsuki strid off, shoving her way through the crowd recklessly. Inko winced. She loved her friend, she really did, but sometimes she could be a bit too vicious...

"Elena!" she called.

Toshinori sighed at his bone-headed heroism. Yeah, he wanted to be the symbol of peace and all that, but couldn't he go a day without getting things wrong?! He grasped the girl's hand.

"I'll take you to a security man, see if he can call for your parents. What's your name?"

"Elena."

"Are you okay with walking or would you like me to pick you up?"

"My legs are tired..." Toshinori gently lifted her into his arms, then headed for the nearest security post with the kid in his arms.

"Did you come here with your parents?" he asked her.

"No. My two brothers and babysitters." she replied.

"So they might be close by..."

"T-that's them!" Elena suddenly said after a minute or so. Toshinori looked at where she was pointing to find a green-haired girl who didn't look much older than him, looking out to the crowd with a worried expression, a boy in her arms and another clutching her arm.

"You sure?"

"Yeah!"

"Alright, then. Hey, excuse me?!"

Inko heard the words, so she turned her head to find a young man, not much older than herself, making his way toward her- with Elena in his arms. She nearly fell to her knees with relief when she saw this, but she held herself steady.

"I believe you know this girl?" he said loudly, over the loud chattering around them.

"Y-yes!" Inko cried. "Elena! Thank God you are okay!" the man set Elana down, who was instantly pulled into a hug by Victor, who had been holding back his tears until now.

"How can I ever thank you?" Inko told the man, keeping the two kids in sight.

"It's fine." he said, waving it off. "Just be more careful next time. It's very crowded today."

Inko gave him a weak smile. "Yeah. But thank you so much. I was deadly worried for her."

"Understandable. Now I gotta run, else I am going to be late to my football game!" he flashed her a smile. Ink suddenly got a falshback...

It was last year, while she had still been thinking about moving to the USA. It was her last year at UA, and she was incredibly nervous. For everything. Mostly the end-of-the-year exams. She had been walking down a crowded hallway when her bag was suddenly janked back, along with her body. She yelped, falling to the floor, the seams of her old school bag splitting right open, contents spilling out. First there was silence. Then a few snickers. Suddenly everyone who had witnessed the prank was laughing their heads off, and Inko was trying to pack her stuff, face burning with embarrassment, tears threatning to fall. Just great. Now she had to cry in front of everyone.

"Hey, need any help?" She looked up to find a tall boy standing in front of her, unsure of what she woukd say. She nodded her head, looking down ashamadly and using her quirk to pull her pencil case to her. And everyone just laughed.

"It's not funny!" the boy said. Silence fell, and even Inko looked up, surprised. "I bet you wouldn't be laughing it that were you on the floor, huh?" With that he crouched, helping her by gathering a pile of papers. He smiled at her.

"The name's Yagi Toshinori," he said, handing them to her. A name she would never forget.

"Inko. Midoriya Inko."

"I- I am Inko?" Inko said. "Um... I went to U.A high. We met last year?"

"Oooh, I remember! Look, now I gotta hurry, but I can give you my contact…?"

"S-sure." Inko stammered. He gave her his phone number, then left as quickly as he had come, biding her goodbye.

"You found Elena?" Mitsuki suddenly appeared behind her, making her jump.

"Actually, someone else did." Inko said, pocketing the card he had given her. She needed to thank him properly, so she would be holding on to that for the time being...
