Circuit-Guv’nor – Inspector Spacetime

Within the rigid Circuit-Chap social strata, Circuit-Gov'nors answered only to the Circuit-King. In the field, Circuit-Gov'nors commanded the factory-flagships which led the Circuit-Army's Digifleets. A Circuit-Gov'nor would serve as a regulator of the Circuit-Soldiers in the Circuit-King's absence and sometimes be accompanied and assisted by a Circuit-Butler. ("Five Inspectors, One Time Booth")

Most Circuit-Gov'nors were recognisable as leader by a tweed flat cap ("Reappearance of the Circuit-Chaps") or steel-wool handlebar moustaches ("Ennui of the Circuit-Chaps"). The rotory shaft–driven A. I. Varistor-Jones, a proto-Circuit-Chap, had a silver handlebar moustache and was addressed as "gov'nor" by his Circuit-Mutts ("'ello, guv'nor!", "blimey, guv'nor!", "lumme, guv'nor!", etc.). A long, amused smile graced Roth’s face. He welcomed the other. He tolerated Issac but shall annoy him all the same. All in good jest, though.

“Why, ello gov'nor, chuffed to bits I hope?”

Putting on a British accent learned from Monty Phyton, Roth seemed amused bus his imitation. He smiled and tilted his head, seemingly in a good mood. Better than their last meeting.

“So, what’s up with you, Isaac? I haven’t seen you in some time.”

And so what I did was: I took this voice, that had like 4 or 5 lines - just maybe a minute long - I knew it was something to do with Batman, because the word "Batman" was in there, which is “Well, Batman.” And I broke it down to phrases.

So, first you hear “Well, Batman,” and what I figured is, okay - and it’s the first time I ever tried this technique. I would take and put his “Well, Batman” and then leave a space for me, and then put “Well, Batman” and a space for me 5 times.

So I broke it up on every line, so that you could listen to this thing, and each phrase would repeat 5 times with space for me to record between. And I - I went through the whole thing once, and then I went through the whole thing twice, and I had now 10 versions of me going “Well, Batman.”

And I could see which one was closest to the one on the recording. And then I put that into a file. And I built the character based on what sounded most like the guy I was trying to match in my voice.
