Celestial Court Attire
We’ll be focused on the Court of Dreams and the Court of Stars for this particular post as the Winter Court and Court of Ashes stick to armor as their court attire.  Tagging: @roseofalderaan, @notreallybeccab, @littlevodika, @capricornrabies, @colorfulloverbatturkey

Court Attire: The Night Courts
Tagging: @notreallybeccab, @roseofalderaan, @littlevodika, @capricornrabies
Court attire in the Night Courts are very dramatic and done solely for intimidation towards the Celestial Courts if they’re having to deal with them. I’ll be showing outfits and discussing who wears what. I want to give a huge shout out and thank you to @capricornrabies for showing me these!
The Blood Court:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Blood Court, you’ll see the handmaidens/ladies-in-waiting wearing garments like these. Blind masks are mandatory for ladies-in-waiting in training and Keres, the Princess of the Blood Court, had to wear one as well when she wasn’t being paraded about for the nobles to inspect to see if they wanted to marry her.
Tumblr media
This was one of the blind masks Keres wore during Court duties. The men of the court were also required to wear blind masks, though theirs are less intricate than the women’s are.
The Court of Death:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Court of Death will pair veils with their blind masks more often than not, and when not attending court business, wear the lace eye masks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The royal guards boast masks such as these at all times, the sight of the guards walking with the royal family and the High Council is enough to make someone think twice about approaching them.
The Court of Bones:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Court of Bones tend to wear masks and accessories related to, well, bones. It’s dramatic and certainly gives off quite the intimidation factor among the Celestial Courts when interacting with them.

Blood Court things
Thought I’d delve a little more into some stuff on the Blood Court today! I’ll touch on the territory itself, what you’ll find in some of the cities and outposts, the royal family, etc. Tagging: @roseofalderaan, @notreallybeccab, @colorfulloverbatturkey, @capricornrabies The capital city of the Blood Court is Valden, the largest city dead center of the Blood Court’s territory. The palace is called the Scarlet Keep and the structure is very impressive to behold. You’ll find all kinds of marvels in Valden ranging from various bazaars to shop in to outdoor theaters for various plays or swordfights. The Scarlet Theater is one of the more popular theaters where ballet is taken rather seriously. Keres and her childhood bestfriend, Aurelia Dracos, danced in the troupe at the theater for a time. Important cities to keep in mind: Sangue is the city where blood wine originates from while Claret is where it’s bottled and shipped out to Valden and other cities and where blood champagne originated from. Bloodridge Station, The Fountain of Youth, and the Blood Stockade are all outposts where slaves are kept for the royal family and noble families to pick stock from to feed on when the mood strikes them. Blood Fae share a few characteristics with vampires, such as the blood drinking. Around the Scarlet Keep, you’ll see the honor guard, a group of Knights called the Sanguine Dragons, patrolling the grounds when they’re not with the royal family, guarding them. They’re the elite warriors of the Blood Court, vicious warriors and practically raised Keres. Sylvain Broussard, the leader of the knights, was placed in charge of Keres as her bodyguard and swordsmanship teacher from a young age and treated her as if she were his own daughter. They’re incredibly close and he’s the only person she will actually listen to without getting sassy about it. The royal family has been holding their position for nearly four centuries now thanks to Helena being able to produce twin heirs, something that hasn’t been seen since the Fates decided to effectively make it nearly impossible for the Blood Fae to have children. Between her ability to actually produce heirs and her vicious streak, no one has been able to dethrone her and Alexios. Helena gave the twins to a wet nurse to raise, barely interacting with Ajax and Keres until they got older, where she and Alexios began to pit them against one another, observing to see which of the twins would come out on top so they could begin to train them to take over as future King or Queen. Ajax quickly became the favorite and was spoiled while Keres was foisted off onto the handmaidens and later Sylvain, unless Helena wished to parade her about for the nobles to inspect as a future wife for one of their sons. Keres took to acting out and having a rebellious streak to get attention from her parents, lashing out at everyone around her when she wasn’t getting her way. She partied and snuck out of the palace to attend Fae raves in the warehouse district, or attending secret blood sharing parties with others her age. Blood drinking/sharing is something primarily seen within the Blood Court. It’s considered highly taboo among the other courts, so it’s not openly discussed outside of the Blood Court. Blood drinking is a rather intimate act between Fae, the act itself providing not only a meal, but pleasure for the person being fed on as well as the one doing the feeding. It’s not usually seen between mated pairs of Fae, the sensation overwhelming due to the matebond amplifying everything tenfold, so the Blood Fae use slaves instead to feed off of. Everyone has at least one to two or sometimes more places where they can be fed from: neck, wrists, and shoulders are most commonly seen spots. Bites should be pain free, so if there is a pinching sensation, it’s not the correct spot to feed from.

Other Fae things
Tagging: @roseofalderaan, @notreallybeccab, @quoththeraven-nevermind2
Fae have a multitude of various traits that seem to crop up at random: Wings, horns, talons, even a light dusting of scales every so often. It’s unknown why or how these mutations pop up, but they’re rare enough that when a child is born with a mutation, it’s said to be an omen or a gift/curse from the gods themselves. Some parents will have the mutation removed if possible, i.e. wings or horns while others will celebrate their child’s differences or send them to the Seers to train.
While the Fae look humanesque in appearance, they are anything but. They’re far more feral and primal in behaviors and have been known to forgo weapons and armor when they fight, channeling a primal magic and rage that fuels their abilities to fight better. They’re faster, stronger, and far more powerful than a human, their senses twenty times more intense. When a Fae is in primal mode, they’re more dangerous than they already were and it’s advised not to interact until they’ve come down.
Humans who have been bonded with a Fae will begin to display traits and features of the Fae they’ve bonded with. If they’ve bonded with a Star Fae, their eyes take on the slit pupil look and their eyesight becomes just as good as a natural born Fae’s. Blood Court mates will have sharper canines and feel the urge to participate in blood sharing. Those mated with someone in the Court of Death find themselves having more of a sensitivity to the sun while those with a Winter Court mate are less susceptible to the cold.

Fae Magic
Tagging: @roseofalderaan, @notreallybeccab, @quoththeraven-nevermind2, @capricornrabies
Just a little information on the Fae magic they possess.
All Fae are born with magic, newborn faelings having the most powerful magic up until their fifth birthdays. Faelings possess wild magic, magic that can take any form: shape shifting, teleportation, etc. parents usually have a dampening charm placed on their home to help manage the little ones powers. As they get older, the magic is still strong, but more easily controlled.
Blood magic and necromancy are most prevalent in the Night Courts and is considered forbidden in the the Celestial Courts. In public, the Night Courts will condemn blood magic, but behind closed doors, it’s used to make a Fae more powerful or used against their enemies. Blood magic is a form of magic that relies on your own blood or the blood of others to cast spells; it can also be used to twist and bend others to their will, physically or mentally. It’s most prevalent in the Blood Court and it’s rumored that blood magic is partially how Helena was able to have twins as well as keep her grip on the throne. Necromancy, of course, is exactly as it sounds. Some Fae have combined necromancy with botany to form necrobotany, their undead constructs far more difficult to defeat thanks to the fusion of plant and bone to make “muscles” for the skeletal fighters. Natalya is rumored to be the first Fae who started using necrobotany as a way to bolster her ranks to take back her throne.
In the Celestial Courts, healing magic, prophetic dreams/visions, divination, and elemental magic are commonly seen. The Court of Stars in particular uses music to fuel their magic and strengthen it exponentially. Divination and prophetic dreams/visions are most common in the Court of Dreams, Ashlyn in particular showing strong signs of being an Oracle and a pretty proficient healer while Danica is known for her healing and ability to cause illusions with her magic, using her musical talents to help weave her magic into however she needs to use it.

The Fates
tagging: @roseofalderaan, @littlevodika, @capricornrabies, @notreallybeccab Link to join my taglist can be found here!
This post will be touching a bit on The Fates and what they do exactly!
The Fates are ancient Fae who were granted godhood instead of passing into an eternal sleep like most Fae do when they reach the end of their lifecycle. There are five Fates total and three of them are the ancestors of Danica, Ashlyn, and Nyx. The Fates control the bond marks and how mates work with the Fae, the ones who have direct descendants more involved in their bloodlines than they normally would be, wanting to keep their lines pure and strong so they may continue to thrive and rule their kingdoms. They’ve also been known to lay down curses and make life difficult for those who have offended them in some way. The Blood Court, for example, have an almost impossible time having children. Any child that *is* born is considered special and are highly valued.
Danica’s Fate ancestor was responsible for wiping out the Court of Shadows when they chose to disrespect the Fates by challenging them, resulting in their entire court being decimated while causing the other courts to forget about them almost entirely, aside from deja vu moments that most aren’t sure if they’re real memories or not, thus resulting in the Court of Death gaining their territory upon the Court of Shadows being wiped off the map.
The Fates themselves are capricious at best and malicious at worst, proven by their actions of getting the clones involved with becoming potential mates for the Fae and killing off an entire court. They do what they deem fit and will not hesitate to ruin someone for disrespecting them. They also taught the Court of Stars and Court of Death the ritual to turn non Fae into Fae, swearing them into secrecy from the other courts about the ritual, wanting to keep it between two of the oldest courts. The ritual itself is one they tested and created before ascending to godhood.
To have a Fate come to you in person is highly unusual; if a Fate or all of them show up in a Court, either trouble is brewing or they’ve decided to directly involve themselves in a situation they might have high concerns about. They’re not generally very forgiving unless they can be proven wrong about their decisions made.

The Half Fae
Tagging: @roseofalderaan, @notreallybeccab, @capricornrabies Half Fae are the result of a Fae and elf having a child together. More often than not, the half Fae are abandoned by their clans once their parentage comes to light due to the tensions between the elven people and the Fae. Two of the older half Fae, Alasnirelan and Varen, started their own clan/Court: the Court of Falling Stars. It’s a small court made up of only twenty-two half Fae, though more come every day to find a home where they belong.
High Fae tend to take more after their elven parent physically, though hair color and eye colors usually reflected which court their Fae parent came from. Occasionally a half Fae would have some skin tone patches that matched their Fae parent as well or if the Fae parent was from the Court of Stars, the child would have a shimmer to their skin. Half Fae get the Fae strength and senses of a Fae along with a single pair of fangs, the ability to form matebonds, and a longer life span than that of a full blooded elf. They don’t live quite as long as a full blooded Fae, however. They’ve taken elvish and Sylvarus and blended it into a new language all their own so they could have something that fully belonged to them. Their court isn’t run the way Fae courts are: instead of a King and Queen, it’s run by the eldest of the half Fae and all decisions are made as a group and through votes. It gives everyone an equal voice to discuss important matters and hear everyone’s thoughts before coming to a decision.
Half Fae aren’t treated well by Fae and elves alike, the terms ‘mistakes’ and ‘abominations’ tossed around quite a bit. Some Fae will even go out of their way to attack the half Fae if given the opportunity while elves refuse to acknowledge their existence in general, refusing their business in their cities or camps. It wasn’t until Keres first put forward new laws to protect half Fae that the other courts fell in line and did the same, wanting to give their citizens a chance at having a life without fear of being hurt or outright killed. Their court was officially recognized and brought into the Celestial Courts, though they signed the first peace treaty with the Blood Court when Keres took over as Queen.

Sex and Sexuality in the Celestial Courts pt. 1
***This particular post discusses adult themes that will be placed under a cut. I ask that minors please skip this portion of Fae culture***
Sex and sexuality varies from each court, some courts having similar views to some things, such as casual sex or public nudity, while having vastly different feelings on other subjects such as sexuality in general. Court of Stars: In this particular court, things such as casual sex or partner swapping is seen as normal and even encouraged. Soldiers use it as a way to blow of steam while bonded couples will sometimes use it as a way to strengthen not only their bond, but their friendships as well if they so choose to participate with friends. It’s not unusual for unbonded Fae to form polyamorous relationships, sometimes even continuing said relationships even after they’ve bonded. The Star Fae don’t see it as strange or bizarre to participate in these sorts of situations as long as everyone is being safe and are all in agreeance. Now not every couple will participate in bringing others into the bedroom, some mates preferring to keep things between the pair, a view that’s also heavily supported. The general consensus is as long as everyone is happy and are discussing what they’re looking for, then it’s all alright. Sexuality is as diverse in the Court of Stars as it is here on Earth, and is celebrated widely throughout the court. Nothing is seen as taboo or unacceptable, though there is more of a pressure with the nobility and royal families to produce heirs to continue the line, though it’s not entirely unheard of for royalty or the lesser nobility to hire someone to be a surrogate or sperm donor in cases like this. Homophobia is severely frowned upon and those who use harmful slurs or outright attack the members of the LGBTQ+ will be put through what’s known as reeducation. If the reeducation doesn’t stick, which is rare, then the offending party is executed.
Court of Dreams: Casual sex or partner swapping is highly frowned upon in this court. Sex is believed to be a special moment between two bonded who are coming together physically in a more intimate way for the first time. They view it as a way to strengthen the bond two mates have. While the act of casual sex isn’t necessarily accepted, there aren’t any consequences for those who do step outside the social norms and participate in the act. That being said, virginity itself isn’t something they care about, that isn’t considered anything important. The act of sex itself is sacred and used to connect mates on a deeper level. The Dream Fae revere these private, intimate moments, savoring the closeness it brings them and are unwilling to share that bond with anyone other than their mate. Sexuality is fluid in this court, much like the Court of Stars. These two courts share the same views on those of the LGBTQ+ community, celebrating them and cherishing them deeply. Unlike the Court of Stars, however, they do not execute those with hateful views; instead, they banish them from all Court of Dreams lands and cities, exiling them into the wilderness. A Dream Fae losing their family is the worst thing that could happen to them. They lose that familial bond and it is a painful existence to be without their family as family is very important to Dream Fae.
Court of Ashes: The Fae in the Court of Ashes are one of the only Fae that don’t mate and form soulbonds. Sex is casual and freely given without consequence here in these nomadic clans. Nudity is considered normal and treated with casual regard, and isn’t considered a big deal among the Ashen Fae. Since their bodies run higher than the other Fae, they tend to wear less clothing to begin with, their primal connection to fire and fire magicks the cause of discomfort when it comes to too much heavy clothing. Ash Fae don’t pay attention to sexuality. Love is love no matter what gender, sexuality, etc. you are. As long as you and your partner are happy and harmonious, that’s good enough for them. That being said, bigots are swiftly and immediately dealt with, usually by way of lashings or exile. They’re quick to correct themselves if the wrong pronouns are used and are wholly accepting no matter what.
The Winter Court: Casual sex and partner swapping/sharing isn’t frowned upon nor is it necessarily encouraged like in the Court of Stars. Winter Fae are far more concerned with bigger matters than who’s sleeping with who. Monogamy does tend to be the ruling relationship arrangement, though it’s not unheard of for couples to have open relationships. Sexuality in the Winter Court is considered a taboo subject to discuss in public, it’s meant to be kept within families. Bigotry is handled by those closest to the victims and punishments vary depending on the offence.

Ellodeem
So I thought I’d make a little post discussing my High Fae race and planet! In this case, it’s going to be Star Wars centered since I’ve pulled them in as an original alien race. It’s going to be broken up into about 4 posts, might end Tagging @roseofalderaan, @worldsofcreation, @hounding-around, @likeshootingstarsinthenightsky, @notreallybeccab The planet Ellodeem, found in Wild Space, is a planet the resembles earth in atmosphere and gravity, and is home to an alien race called the Fae or High Fae. Ellodeem boasts lilac skies during the day and a deep, royal purple at night with two moons. Ellodeem is home to many exotic plants, animals, and foods that can only be found here, including flowers such as the Ellodeem rose, the foxtrot plant, dragons, Fae hunting hounds, and Ronki, an eight legged horse species descending from Sleipnir himself. The main continent, Nos, stretches across multiple regions, from polar in the far North, a more temperate climate further south you go, while the east is a mix of temperate and coastal, and the west is coastal and polar the further north you go, and down past the equator which becomes more tropical in climate. It sits far from tectonic boundaries, the tallest mountains in the land no more than really big hills. There are many cave systems, a good number of them mines for precious gems such as opals, sapphires, etc. There’s no volcanic activity here and earthquakes are very rare and very weak. The seas to the North, West, and South of Nos are difficult to travel between rough waters and strange creatures that are larger than most of the ships in the coastal regions. Seas to the East, on the other hand, are gentle and much better suited for swimming in. Ellodeem has never had anyone outside of the Fae on it’s surface, in fact, most don’t seem to even realize it’s there until the start of the Clone Wars. Once more people find out about Ellodeem, there’s a high demand for the various foods and ingredients that can only be found here, like the foxtrot plant whose nectar makes a rich and sweet liquor that’s also very, very potent and strong. Fae aren’t the only race found on Ellodeem, though they are the most prominent. Minotaurs, Half dragons, elvhen, and gargoyles call the different regions of Ellodeem home as well. Minotaurs are a nomadic race, traveling all across Nos, though they tend to avoid the more tundra regions as well as going too far south to avoid contact with the Court of Bones and Blood Court Fae who use them as beasts of burden if they catch them. Gargoyles can be found scattered all around Nos, making their homes in old ruins and smaller towns of Fae, living in harmony with those of the Celestial Faction. There are some smaller bands of Gargoyles that work with the Blood Court, though for the most part they seem to be more for guard work than anything else. Elvhen live among the Fae, usually as servants or members of the royal guard along with half dragons.

High Fae: Celestial Courts pt.3
Tagging: @roseofalderaan, @hounding-around, @notreallybeccab, @likeshootingstarsinthenightsky, @worldsofcreation, @colorfulloverbatturkey
The Winter Court:
Fae in the Winter Court are ruled over by Anders and Katrine Trygg and their son Ulric. Their family descends from the second oldest bloodline of ancient Fae, giving them more sway with the other courts along with the Court of Stars.
Winter Fae have skin tones that range from pale whites to various blues and purples, with natural swirling patterns on their forearms, faces (primarily the forehead, cheekbones, and chin) that look like snowflake patterns. Hair colors range from silvers to hues of green, purple and blue, almost like the Northern Lights. Eye colors that are most common are pale whites, blues, and purples with smatterings of greens or very pale silvers and golds. Their body temperature is frighteningly low and are frozen to the touch outside of these Fae. When they speak, their voices are reminiscent of crackling ice and walking across frost encrusted ground.
Skadi is a prominent goddess among the Winter Court, a large statue of her in the middle of the city in their capital far to the north. Starpeak Hold is the largest of all the Winter Fae holds and is a very popular city for the other Fae of the Celestial Courts to visit. Other gods that the Winter Fae revere are  Cailleach Bheur, Baldur, and Odin.
Winter Fae are very combative, picking fights with the half dragons that have made their homes near theirs and gladly going to war with the Court of Bones and Blood Court, holding a special contempt for the Blood Court in particular. They’re closest to the Court of Stars and have even had members of either court marry to help strengthen their alliance. It had been rumored that Ulric, their prince, was enamored with Danica, the Court of Stars princess and that there had been talks of betrothal potentially being set up between the two. Winter Fae use diamond dragons and wefuna, Great Dane sized lion/wolf hybrid looking creatures, as hunting partners, their colorings the perfect camouflage in the icy north. They lean towards spears, bows, and throwing hatchets for mounted combat and distance fighting, while specialized warriors known as Berserkers, wield large, two handed axes, swords, or large scythes and war hammers.

Fae Raves
tagging: @roseofalderaan, @capricornrabies, @quoththeraven-nevermind2, @notreallybeccab
Fae raves: parties for the younger Fae royals and nobles to let loose and connect with the common fae, getting the chance to forget their duties for a while and have fun. Most raves last anywhere from a day to a week, the longest clocking in at a month. Humans are forbidden from attending the raves due to the food and drink being like a drug to them. While the Fae are used to these specially made foods and drinks, merely feeling the effects of relaxation and feeling good, humans would fall into an almost trance-like state, losing themselves in the music and are bound to whichever Fae gave them the food or drink.
Clothing seen at the raves ranges in style depending on the court, but you’ll see outfits such as these most often:

The High Fae part 2: The Night Court
Tagging @roseofalderaan, @hounding-around, @likeshootingstarsinthenightsky, and @notreallybeccab **Side note: The Court of Shadows information is still in development, I will update this post once it’s done!**
The Court Of Bones:
The Court of Bones Fae are the strangest looking out of all the Fae Courts: they’re thin and skeletal like, with high cheekbones and hollowed out cheeks, their eyes, always completely pitch black in color, are slightly sunk into their heads and have dark circles under them. Their fingers are long and thin, but are unnaturally strong, even for a Fae, and once they have hold of someone, it’s nearly impossible to get them off. Some of these Fae have wings of bone or rotting flesh, though it’s a very rare trait to possess. All of these Fae have sickly pale skin and either white or black hair.
The men are tall and lanky, but surprisingly strong, and wear tribal styled war paint on their arms, chest, and face. The women are also tall and slender, their ears are longer than the men's, and they keep their ears pierced a minimum of four times on each ear, and wear war paint on their faces and upper arms. Unlike the other Fae, who all have the fangs, only women in this Court have them.
The Court of Bones is full of infighting, mostly among the common Fae, and no one trusts one another. They’ll sometimes band together to take on someone who’s angered them, but once the grudge is settled, they go back to fighting amongst themselves again. The noble families have tentative truces with one another, but that’s more out of fear of Queen Sveta than anything else. There are rumors that the Queen either murdered or imprisoned her own husband, Vlad, and disowned her own daughter, Natalya, though there’s no concrete proof , so no one really knows for sure if the rumors are true.
No one is truly sure who the Court of Bones Fae worship beyond Ares, Seth, and Hel. The Court of Bones Fae can be found to the west in Nos, their main city Vollen. Their architecture is similar to that of the Ancient Greeks and is very well kept, though their buildings are constructed from a mix of marble and bones of dragons who have long since passed.
The Blood Court:
High Fae from the Blood Court possess deathly pale skin, crimson hair, and red eyes. They have the fangs the other Fae courts have, though their forward fangs are longer than the other High Fae as they use them as weapons and they drink blood like vampires do.
Like the Court of Bones, there’s infighting amongst the Blood Court Fae, though it’s more commonly found between the noble families vying for favor with Queen Helena and King Alexios, who are fickle in their favor: one moment someone could be holding their favor, and the next they’re beheading them for some slight, real or imagined. They have twin children, Keres and Ajax. The people know Keres to be a spoiled brat while Ajax is one of their finest warriors and slated to become the next king.
Male Fae in this court are stocky and well built, generally more stout than the other Fae. They have thicker fangs, their tempers run hotter, and they’re more prone to outright violence. Female Fae, on the other hand, are taller and more willowy and lean. They’re sneakier than the males are, using their wit and intelligence to overpower their enemies instead of brute force. When it comes to war, the Blood Court goes all out and will do anything and everything to win, however they absolutely refuse to harm children and will take children from other Courts to raise them as their own as pregnancy for women in this court is rare and nearly impossible to achieve. They claim the Fates have cursed them and have made them barren.
The Blood Court rule from the south in a large castle nestled in the center of a city called Kinsta. Their buildings are old school Gothic architecture and are carved from obsidian and steel. They use the Witchwoods as means of hiding their assassins and attacking travelers for coming too close to their lands.
The Court of Death:
The Court of Death Fae have skin that’s comparable to moonlight and with nights with a new moon, with eyes that are most commonly black, white, or silver in coloring, though green and gold have been seen in some Fae. Hair color is usually dark, but occasionally reds or blondes have been seen as well. Like most Fae, they have four pairs of fangs in the upper part of their mouth, resting one right behind the other on both sides of the mouth.
Male Fae stand an average of five foot ten and go upwards to about seven feet tall. They’re well built with broad shoulders and are generally muscular. Females are on average about five foot five and go on to be about five foot ten. They have a more willowy build and tend to range on the smaller side.
Fae in the Death Court are ruled by a Queen and a high council made up of the different noble houses and Nyx, the Queen’s daughter. The Council makes most of the decisions for the Court, the Queen only stepping in for major events or to help end a stalemate if the Council can’t come to an agreement.
Death Fae, also known as Reapers, collect the souls of dead Fae, bringing them into their Court as new citizens. Most Fae in the Court of Death are Fae from the other courts, the only true Death Fae left belonging to the noble houses and the royal family. True Death Fae are rare because there’s very few options for them to find a mate that isn’t family in one way or another.
The Court of Death houses the ancient Fae library that holds secrets lost to the other courts. They value knowledge and secrets above all else, doing everything in their power to ferret out knowledge and keeping it written in books that no one outside the royal family will ever see. No one really knows where the Court of Death resides as they use a cloaking spell to keep their city hidden away from prying eyes.

The High Fae: The Celestial Courts
And here we go with part 2! Going into depth on the Fae and the different courts! I’ll be going into a brief history between the courts and then break it down by each faction. This could potentially be broken up into a two part post, but we’ll see how long this gets!
Tagging: @roseofalderaan, @worldsofcreation, @hounding-around, @likeshootingstarsinthenightsky and @notreallybeccab
There are two factions of Fae on Ellodeem: The Celestial Court and the Night Court. There are four separate courts that make up each faction: The Court of Stars, The Court of Dreams, The Court of Ashes, and the Winter Court all make up the Celestial faction while the Court of Bones, Court of Death, Court of Shadows, and the Blood Court make up the Night Court. War has been waged for the past five years between the Blood Court and the courts of the Celestial Court, though they’ve primarily targeted the Court of Stars and the Court of Dreams. The Court of Bones has been involved in the war off and on, however there’s so much in fighting in that particular court, they’re more focused on sorting themselves out. It’s because of this that when the Separatists found out about Ellodeem and reached out, the queen of the Blood Court, Helena, accepted their offer of an alliance on the condition that they provide assistance in helping win the war raging. The Celestial Courts are allies, though the Court of Ashes remains a neutral party, refusing to step in unless things are dire. The Court of Death and Court of Shadows are also neutral courts, neither faction wanting to involve themselves in what they perceive as petty squabbles. Fae are born with a primal magic that manifests in different ways. For the Court of Stars, music helps channel their magic and they focus primarily on healing. The Blood Court and Court of Bones both use blood magic and necromancy, a very taboo form of magic to the other Courts. Because they’re born with magic all their own, Fae are not Force sensitive and cannot be Jedi or Sith. All Fae have a special connection to dragons and some are even lucky enough to bond with a hatchling, able to communicate mentally with the dragon and are usually members of the noble families or royal families. I’ll be starting with the Court of Stars and Court of Dreams as they’re the two courts that will primarily be focused on. The Court of Ashes and the Winter Court information will come at a later date when and if they make an appearance in any future writing!
The Court of Stars:
The Court of Stars resides in Noveria, a large city carved out of various gemstones the size of small mountains. It’s located in the south east and surrounded by fields of emerald green grass, lavender fields, and of course, the Witchwoods to the north east and south. This court is ruled by the Reid family, the oldest of all the Fae bloodlines and the one with some of the strongest magic in their blood. King Hakon and Queen Anja have one daughter, Danica. They worship a pantheon of gods and goddesses, though they primarily focus their attentions on Odin, Thor, Loki, Freyja, Frigg, and Skadi. High Fae who are a part of the Court of Stars display skin tones that range from a light, pearly color to shades of silver to light golds and deep bronzes that generally hold a slight iridescence to the skin, causing them to look almost as if they had stardust thrown over them. Their hair colors range from the soft whites and blues of starlight to the deepest of midnight blues, sometimes black, while eye colors are commonly gold or silver with slitted pupils, though blue and green can be spotted in some Fae as well. Some Fae carry the heterochromia iridum gene and will have silver and gold eyes, gold and green or blue eyes, or silver and green or blue eyes. Like all High Fae, they possess four pairs of fangs in the row of upper teeth, sitting one right behind the other on both sides of the mouth. As they’re most active at night, they have the perfect night vision and their eyes act much like a cat’s would when light reflects back into their eyes in the dark. High Fae of this particular court are born hairless aside from their eyebrows and actual hair and the men are unable to grow facial hair. Star Court Fae are very family oriented, usually having large families and neighbors will band together in helping raise children, working together to provide love and comfort for the kids as well as support to other parents. It’s not unusual for children to have their birth mother and then calling the other neighborhood women who help raise them mom as well.
Fae here focus primarily on charting the stars and planets, creating helpful star charts and other such maps that are highly valuable to the other courts. Astrology and astronomy are very important to these Fae as they use them in their work and their everyday lives. When it comes to their magic use, they focus primarily on healing, using songs and music to help strengthen the magic. Familiars and their dragons are also used as a stabilizing factor, especially the dragons. The Court also possess knowledge of an ancient ritual to turn someone into a Fae, they keep this knowledge locked up tight from the other Courts to avoid any horrible repercussions that could potentially arise.
The Court of Dreams:
This particular court is ruled by the Amaris family, King Gunnar and Queen Dahlia and they have a single child, a daughter named Ashlyn. Ashlyn inherited the mermaid gene from her great, great, great, great, great grandmother. They follow a more Celtic based pantheon, including The Morrigan, The Dagda, Danu, and Brigid. They reside on an island in the Ethereal Tides, their homes built like Viking longhouses were. Fishing is their main source of making a living, though raiding and pirating weren’t unheard of either.
The Court of Dreams inhabitants boast skin tones ranging from blues and silvers to deep purples and golds to the deepest of ebony and navy blue. All Fae here have purple eyes and hair colors range from white all the way to the darkest black. They’re lean and slender, have androgyenous features, though the men are taller and broader than the women are, and have shorter ear length.
Like the Fae from the Court of Stars, these Fae are also born hairless beyond the hair on their heads and eyebrows, and are unable to grow facial hair.
Members of the noble houses are covered in intricate tattoos and are the only ones permitted such adornments, while those of the royal family boast tattoos that are designed only for them and are done with special golden ink made from the blood of Ki-rin’s and unicorns that was willingly donated for such purposes.
Men and women alike are part of the military, women taking on the more tactical role of advisors as well as the roles of spies, assassins, archers, and aerial cavalry. Men, on the other hand, do more of the ground fighting as infantry, guards, ground cavalry, and explosives. While all of them are part of the military, they’re more focused on scholarly deeds and alchemy, preferring to spend their time studying history, magic, and other such subjects. They value intelligence over brute strength, though they put their time into both.
Fae families run on the smaller side here, usually no more than two children if that. Conception is tough and pregnancy as well as birth are very high risk for the mothers. Because of these conditions, children are highly valued and protected by their elders.
The royal family of the Court of Dreams have two: their normal human like form, and a mermaid form when they’re in water. Common tail colors range from koi colorations, to blues, purples, and pinks. There’s stories of one of their ancestors marrying a mermaid and that’s why they’re able to shift between the two forms. It’s more commonly seen in the females in the royal family.

High Fae - Celestial Courts part 2

The Court of Ashes Fae:
The Court of Ashes Fae are ruled by Brynjolf and Lucretia Helvig, and their son Ivar. They live in traditional villages based around how Vikings lived in the south west, their capitol in the Ravenkeep Hold. Topaz dragons are seen guarding the region and the King and Queen have made alliances with some of the Minotaur clans that call the area their home as well.
Court of Ashes Fae worship Saga, Odin, Frigg, Jord and Freyr. There’s small temples dedicated to each one in every village. Offerings are left not only by the Fae but passing Minotaur, half dragons, and dragons. There’s a very respectful nature with Ashen Fae and their gods; the Fae are very careful never to take their gods names in vain and are careful in their requests in aid or whatever else they may ask/pray for.
Fae of this court have skin tones that range from deep, rich bronzes to varying shades of grey and the deepest black along with rich golds and rusted reds. Eye color here is a deep, molten gold color that’s completely solid. They lack irises and pupils completely. The standard set of fangs are found with these Fae as well, though they also have a single pair of fangs with their bottom teeth. Their voices are naturally low and raspy, sounding almost like a crackling fire whenever they speak. Their body temperatures run hotter than the rest of the other Fae, so they dress lighter and don’t tend to use blankets when they sleep.
Ashen Fae are a neutral court, preferring to stay out of the other Courts squabbles to focus on their own people and making sure they’re well taken care of and not wanting for any of the essentials. When the Separatists join with the Blood Court and Court of Bones, the Court of Ashes immediately breaks their neutrality to forge alliances with the other Celestial Court factions.

The Arts of Fae Culture
Tagging: @roseofalderaan, @hounding-around, @capricornrabies, @notreallybeccab Every court has their own version of the arts that they enjoy. In the Blood Court, you’ll find musicians comparable to those such as Morbid Angel or Cannibal Corpse, while in the Court of Dreams, they celebrate painters, sculptors and writers. Each Court has their own unique spin on things, ranging in different styles, mediums, etc.
Famous Bands/Singers Among the Courts and who they’re based on: Figures of Sin - Ice Nine Kills Lords of Voodoo - Lords of the Lost Reclaiming Haven - Evanescence Shadow Panic - Blaqk Audio Avenging Valor - Avenged Sevenfold Nexus - Kerli Skeletal Greed - Slipknot Twisted Paradise - Aesthetic Perfection Emissary - Seether Soft Surrender - Too Close To Touch Angel - P!nk Shady Hollow - Emilie Autumn Poetica - Lady Gaga Damned Hearts - Motionless In White Assault - Davey Suicide
These are just a few famous Fae bands/singers that can be found on Ellodeem, some of them even going so far as to venture off world to perform for other planets. Regardless of what Court a band or singer is from, they’re considered neutral entities and are welcome in all of the Courts for concerts and performances. Music is highly regarded in the Court of Stars; it’s used for self expression, relaxing, they even use it to help power their magic. Music speaks for them when they cannot find the proper words and it’s considered a highly romantic gesture to share songs that make a Fae think of their mate upon hearing them. Musicals are also a big form of entertainment, the Star Fae making a big deal out of attending them at local theaters. Dance is another form of expression dear to the Court of Stars and the Court of Dreams as well. Ballet and ballroom are two forms of dance that are seen the most in these courts, though versions of the tango are seen in some of the night clubs hidden away in the cities. You won’t find many paintings or sculptures in the Court of Stars, blacksmithing and stained glass is more up their alley when it comes to other mediums of art, that being said, they do have a small museum dedicated to the small amounts of paintings and sculptures they do have. The Court of Dreams, on the other hand, have museums full of beautiful artworks: paintings, sculptures, pottery. They put a lot of time and effort into everything they do, sometimes spending years on one particular work before showing it to the world. They’re very meticulous in their art, everything has to be done a certain way or they’ll scrap whatever the had been working on and start over. The Winter Court and the Blood Court both have a very different approach to what they consider art. Sword fighting and crafting unique weapons for display and battle are the most popular ways of showing off creative abilities in these courts. They’ll put on impressive displays showing off their skills with a weapon as well as the craftsmanship that went into making said weapons. There are, of course, Fae who pursue other interests, such a music, Lords of Voodoo being a big name from the Winter Court while Skeletal Greed hails from the Blood Court.
The Court of Ashes delve more into glass blowing and creating beautiful glass creations that are highly popular among the other courts. The grand chandelier in the Court of Dreams ballroom was crafted by an Ashen Fae couple who considered that to be their finest work, and found themselves getting commissions from all over, even in the Night Courts.
The Court of Bones art lies in the form of fashion, their skills with crafting sturdy, but beautifully intricate fabrics and outfits and accessories is well known through every court and even those of the Celestial Court are begrudgingly impressed with their skills. While denizens of this court usually spend most of their time fighting with each other, fashion brings them together in a temporary truce.
Surprisingly, culinary work is the popular medium for those of the Court of Death. Fae from all over flock to their capitol city to sample the many different types of cuisine. They have festivals and street shows dedicated to the culinary arts that are highly popular and always a joy to attend.
These are a few examples of what can be found in the Courts, namely the most popular forms of artistic expression. No matter which court it is, the arts are a staple of Fae culture, no matter what form the art takes.
