another thing that i think is really funny about the sjm/acotar fandom is how convinced some fans are that they know who the next acotar book is about.
like the gwynriels are convinced that the next acotar book is gonna be about azriel and his and gwyn’s relationship and the elriels are convinced that the next acotar book is gonna be about elain and her and azriel’s relationship. and neither side is budging on it. it’s honestly hilarious to watch as someone who certainly has a preference but can see the potential of both ships

Future ACOTAR Books
Ok, so Sarah is contracted for 2 more acotar novels and a novella, right?
Here's how I'm thinking its gonna be laid out.
ACOTAR -1, ACOMAF -2, ACOWAR -3, ACOFAS -novella 1, ACOSF -4
ACOTAR 5 - Elain's book with Azriel as love interest. I believe she will reject the bond with Lucien and help Nesta and Az with the trove and locating Koschei, the prison, Az and Nuala and Cerridwen helping her with her seer skills since it can be related to spying, and all that. There's much that could happen here and some many questions could be answered.
Novella 2 - this can be Vassa and Lucien's. I truly believe that if Elain would reject the bond, Lucien would allow himself to discover something with Vassa. This would push the story along for the Koschei storyline because I believe that Lucien and Vassa will be heavily involved with that. Sarah made Lucien a part of this band of exiles for a reason. We could also see or hear about what the inner circle is doing through their povs or through some type of correspondence through Lucien. This could possibly start while Elain's story is going on as well, if she rejects the bond early on in her book. She could even tie in Mor and what it is that she's doing since she's trying to get more allies for Rhys. And even Eris since he will be dealing with Beron and the aftermath of being caught. Seems like a lot but Tower of Dawn was meant to be a novella and look how that one turned out.
ACOTAR 6 - this could be a multi pov novel that centers around all the sisters and their chosen loves. And don't tell me she won't because she did it in acofas. OR it could be in feyre and Rhy's povs because they are sarah's favorite couple and if she had to end the series with any couple I believe it would be them. But anyway, I believe that Koschei will be the final big bad for acotar and its gonna take a lot to defeat him. it's gonna take everyone coming together just like they did with the king of Hybern. I also believe that people are gonna die. I've always felt that Mor would be the one to die and maybe Lucien, and Helion, and Tamlin. I think that a couple of courts would be left without high lords and this would allow Rhys and Feyre to become High King and Queen, especially after what we learned in HOFAS, its pretty much his birth right. Wouldn't be something since Tamlin told Feyre that there were no such things as High Lady's and she would end the series as High Queen! lol
This is what I think will be happen, and it's my opinion so I don't need anyone telling me that I'm crazy or delusional, none of that. Based on what happened in frost and starlight (the one that sarah said she set up the rest of the series in), I believe this is what could happen. Do I think Nesta's story is done? No, and we could have her pov in the last book with her sisters. Do I think the valkyries are gonna be main characters? No, I don't because I think they are there mainly for Nesta and I only see them helping with battles and maybe some research. That's it. Do I think the illyrians will be important? Maybe, but sarah has been known to forget about some plots or just completely shut them down in the next book. Remember how we all thought Kallon from frost and starlight was gonna be Cassian's enemy #1 in silver flames? Don't remember him at all? Exactly.
Sorry for the long post, I just have to get all of this out of my head before it drives me crazy. Just so y'all know, I'm pro elriel, feysand, nessian, vassien (if Lucien survives). I don't see how elucien could ever be a happy mated couple, and I don't see how people think Gwyn and Az could ever be romantic and you can't say the next book is Nesta's and say that sarah will have gwynriel as the couple when they would be side characters. Each book will be centered around a couple, right? Did she say new or established? I can't remember but the main couple wouldn't be in the background. And I don't see how Gwyn could carry an entire novel. I'm sorry, I just can't. It would be half of silver flames and I don't think Sarah will do that. And I do think its messed up how sarah and Bloomsbury have let this nasty ship war go on for this long.
But I do believe that this series started with Feyre and her sisters and it will end with her and her sisters. I believe Sarah has made such a big deal with 3's for a reason. Do you guys remember that scene in mist and fury where Mor (whose power is truth) painted the 3 sisters and 3 brothers on the wall in the cabin? That meant something. Mor's reaction to almost every Elriel interaction means something just like it did with Nesta and Cassian. Azriel being able to smell Elain's mating bond and questioning the cauldron means something. The sisters being Made means something. The fact that the cauldron was messed with means something.
Anyways, these are my thoughts. Sorry that this is so long. Please be kind.

One thing that I have thought of about Azriel is the fact that I could totally see him wanting the most casual, domestic type of life more than anyone.
When I say casual-domestic, I mean the man could live in a shack and still be beyond happy if he was with his love, which in this scenario would be Elain. He’d want the most ordinary life if it weren’t for his line of work. He just gives off that vibe.
“He needs a warrior”
“He needs a spy”
“He needs someone strong”
Those claims focus too much on what people want for Azriel rather than what he wants for himself. Pretty ironic right? Considering the theme of Elain’s arc is and will be Choice and Choosing even against Fate which will involve Az heavily.
Of course all of this is headcanon from me and we don’t really, truly know what he wants yet but…
Imagine their domestic life style in the Townhouse.
(Nessian > HoW, Feysand > Riverhouse, Elriel > Townhouse)
Him coming home to her baking fresh bread or desserts for him.
Her teaching him all about flowers, their meanings, and how to take care of them.
Him actively gardening with her in their free time.
Them baking together? Please. Imagine flour all over their faces.
Her accompanying him outside while he suns his wings and reads reports or books with tea.
Him singing for her when he grows comfortable enough to do so.
Something as intimate as him washing her hair for her in the bath.
Like wise with her helping with his wings.
And more.
I feel like Az would want nothing more than that. After all, he’s a workaholic and arguably works the hardest and most out of the Inner Circle.
Then again, we still won’t know until the book announcement 😮‍💨. “It doesn’t matter what I want” has me wanting to cry for him.
Just silly Elriel brainrot thoughts again.

"Love would trump even a mating bond."
Apparently this quote is pretty triggering to Gwynriels and/or Eluciens. Specifically, whether or not in can be applied outside of the Elain/Graysen debacle.
This line comes after Grayson rejects Elain after seeing her as Fae for the first time. The full quote is this: "Some sliver of hope that had shattered today. That Grayson would still love her, still marry her - and that love would trump even a mating bond."
So apparently to the antis, events in previous chapters do not affect things later on in a book or series. Things we learn about a character, cease being true without the reader ever being told. There is no such thing as character or plot continuity.
Basically, there was a TikTok video that put this quote over a picture of Elriel. The quote was attributed to Feyre about Elain. People decried in the comments that this quote is "always taken out of context" by Elriels.
I want to know what this context is? Sure, if someone said that this quote is said by or about Azriel, then that is wrong.
But this quote refers to Elain - to her desires and wants and hopes. Elain, from the moment she came out of the cauldron, did not want her mate. She wanted a love that would trump the mating bond. This hope is dashed in Graysen. He lets her down.
Down the road, Elain still does not want Lucien. In fact, she has begun to fall for a second male. A second love interest. Is it not reasonable to say that Elain is still the same person? That what she wanted/hoped for in a romance, unless stated otherwise, is still the same? That now that she has a second chance at love who is also not her mate, that she will not be looking for the same - a love that trumps a mating bond. Is that a reasonable connection for a reader to make?
How can it be out of context when it is about Elain's love life, and she now has a second scenario that parallels the first, where that hope may finally be satisfied? I just don't get how these people (who according to them, all have literature degrees) say that is unreasonable or jumping the gun for us to connect these two events?
The definition of context: "the interrelated conditions in which something exists or occurs." Are these not 2 interrelated conditions? Elain's love for Grayson, and now her new feelings/burgeoning love for Azriel? Both which happen to same person, both which happen while Elain has a mating bond that she does not desire?
Why are we debating such basic, fundamental literary comprehension??? I feel crazy.

Necklace/Acotar
I may get a lot of hate for this but the necklace has a lot of hints of what ships will sail it sink.
BE. NICE.
So, when I read the part where he gifted the necklace to Elain and described it as insignificant and kind of plain, “The golden necklace seemed ordinary -- its chain unremarkable, the amulet tiny enough that it could be dismissed as an everyday charm.” I thought of how a lot of people think of Elain the same way, ordinary, nothing special about it, just a pretty face, etc. This is sort of when I realized Elriel was officially over, especially after this, “It was a small, flat rose fashioned of stained glass, designed so that when held to the light, the true depth of the colors would become visible.” Immediately I thought that Lucien to me, this is saying Elain is beautiful now, but with Lucien, she will truly grow and he will help her shine.
He is LIGHT, she is the necklace and with him, every part of her that is remarkable will be brought to the surface for all to see. Also, the shadows while we don’t fully understand them, the way they disappear around Elain was a tell-all. Then when it got to Gwyn later on, I loved the way they danced with her like they heard music, MATING BOND!!!
This was adorable! Then we get to how his shadows are relaxed around her “Azriel dipped his head in a sketch of a bow, something restless settling in him. Even his shadows had calmed. As if content to lounge on his shoulders and watch.” Then he leaves and tells her to not stay out too late she’ll freeze ‘ he cares for her well-being, whether as a friend or not.
When he goes to give the necklace to Clotho for Gwyn this is where it was confirmed. “Clotho's pen moved once more. She deserves something as beautiful as this. I thank you for the joy it shall bring to her.
Something sparked in Azriel's chest, but he only nodded his thanks and left. He could picture it, though, as he ascended the stairs back to the House proper. How Gwyn's teal eyes might light upon seeing the necklace. For whatever reason... he could see it.
But Azriel tucked away the thought, consciously erasing the slight smile it brought to his face. Buried the image down deep, where it glowed quietly.
A thing of secret, lovely beauty.”
When he described the necklace and Gwyn as secret lovely beauty, and how the image of her GLOWED And how the mere thought of Gwyn being happy made something in his chest spark is a big deal!!!! Gwyn is a thing of secret lovely beauty. When you first look at her all you see if a pretty Acolyte, but when she’s happy it's when she is radiant and she’s been said to rival the beauty of Mor and Merrill… that’s a HUGE deal. So when Gwyn is happy, her joy is the light to the necklace she needs to see how beautiful she is. Elain needs Lucien, he is her light. I hope that made sense!
Not to mention Gwyn glows… so you could argue singing is her other light to show the deeper depths of her beauty!

elriel 🤝 ivy
can't get over how elriel is so ivy (taylor swift) coded
"Your touch brought forth an incandescent glow Tarnished but so grand"
azriel's siphons glowing with elain, elain thinking that his scarred hands are beautiful
"My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand Taking mine, but it's been promised to another"
elain being mated to lucien but still wanting az
"Oh, I can't Stop you putting roots in my dreamland My house of stone, your ivy grows And now I'm covered in you"
the imagery reminds me so much of how nesta saw elain's mind (personally I think of this being that her mind is being plagued by thoughts of az and it manifested as ivy covering her mind oh my heart)
"I wish to know The fatal flaw that makes you long to be Magnificently cursed"
we all know that az thinks he doesn't deserve elain, this to me, is elain wondering why he feels that way when he's all she wants
"He's in the room Your opal eyes are all I wish to see He wants what's only yours"
opal/cobalt are pretty much the same shade of blue, and we know that elain seeks out az and avoids lucien
"Spring breaks loose, the time is near What would he do if he found us out? Spring breaks loose, but so does fear He's gonna burn this house to the ground"
I don't really think lucien would go crazy when he finds about elriel (he likes vassa anyway) but he's one of the only people we know that could posses fire powers. so this reads like what they think might happen when he finds out about elain and az
"I'd live and die for moments that we stole"
we know that elain and az have had secret glances, brushing of hands, etc
AND
Tumblr media
sjm saying ivy does not want to go and the imagery of her trying to rip out the ivy makes me imagine elain trying to get az out of her head but he's not going anywhere
my little elriel heart is going feral rn

I want to preface this little rant by saying that I am all for ship and let ship—at the end of the day none of this has any significance, and we should all get to enjoy our silly little ships to our heart’s content. Me personally I just want Elain to do whatever the hell she wants and be happy in the end. That being said, rn I just felt like getting something off my chest.
From what I have seen and understood, most of The Other Side believes that Azriel feels entitled to Elain. That he sees her as a sexual object, or at the very most as a rebound he doesn’t truly care for, nor respect; he does not think of her beyond what he can get from her sexually. They say his attitude towards her is toxic in its ‘possessiveness’; he doesn’t consider her an equal, for he sees her as a perpetual damsel in distress he must save; his attraction to her / feelings for her are a symptom of some twisted trauma response.
We know that they believe that. We’ve heard it. Over and over and over. Since 2021. Hell, everybody’s momma probably knows it, too, with the way that rhetoric is spread. But Elriels have made it plenty clear that we have a very different interpretation of the text and do NOT agree with those assessments of Azriel (nor half the things the poor man is diagnosed with, bless his fictional soul), considering what we do know of Azriel’s character and his relationship with Elain, based on the books--and yes, the bonus (see this, this, and this post). Otherwise—i.e. if we believed him an incel x fuckboy hybrid (probs the first of his kind!) who is only interested in getting her in is bed—we would obviously not be shipping them together: most of us (99% I’d say lol) care about Elain more than we do Az, or care about them both just as much.
So it is getting pretty tiring to see us shippers—the actual humans behind the screen—labelled as having a toxic/immature view of what love is, of being “too young/naive” to see the supposed red flags, of mistaking lust for love because we have not experienced a healthy relationship (?), of actually promoting toxic relationships & advocating for toxic masculinity (which someone told me on tiktok just now)(stay away from tiktok, folks). Those generalizations are wild to me, not only because they are wildly untrue and condescending, but because Elriels are a colorful bunch, you know—when you’re speaking of the fandom Villain™, you’re speaking of people of every demographic, speaking of daughters mothers grandmothers, depressed uni students (pardon the self-insert), etc... I need to get thicker skin, but those statements can get pretty hurtful in the long run. And I’m tired of feeling the need to justify myself as if we’re wrong for shipping two people who MUTUALLY want one another and lets be serious, no its not “just lust”.
I know I know, I am probably being dramatic. But it’s just weird to see a ship being so demonized and its shippers along with it, all because louder portions of the fandom disagree with our opinions and insist on toxifying ours. Just to be clear, I know that many have had unpleasant experiences/interactions with Elriels, just like many Elriels have had the same with Gwynriels and/or Eluciens. I condone none of the disgusting behaviour I’ve seen from some shippers, and in fact I abhor it. As everyone should.
To end this on a good note.
Elriels, I say we run with it. Az wants Elain for himself. He is jealous and his mind is plagued by thoughts of her. Her presence is too much to bear, for he can’t stand to be in the same room as her and pretend like he feels nothing. He is ready to beg on his knees for a chance to worship her, and it took Nesta one look to see it.
AZ IS OBSESSED AND I SAY WE EMBRACE IT.

• "Will Azriel get his own book in the future?"
Sjm : "I can't say anything officially right now but when you get to the end of acosf you'll know who the next book is about. Azriel's journey is one I'm very excited to write about." = Elain and Azriel
• The photo she posted holding the first copy of hofas = Elain and Azriel
• Sjm subtly brought up every gwynriel theories (mate bond, mate language, shadows dancing is very special, spark in the chest is mate bond) from Azriel's bc and dismantled them in CC3 BCs.
• She even wrote Azriel stroking Nesta's hair and hold her close to show that not every interaction is romantically coded.
It's obvious what she's trying to hint at time and time again. She made it clear on multiple occasions that the focus is on Elain and Azriel. But the delusion of eluciens/gwynriels persist. Why can't people just trust SJM ? This is the author that gave us TOG.
Their HCs don't align with SJM's vision. That's pretty much it. For three years (and Eluciens even longer than that) they've existed in a self-inflicted vacuum of assumptions, disallowing any arguments and not considering anything that's on page.
They are seriously thinking that SJM, who's been writing Elriel since ACOMAF (remember, 'and I think Elain would like it too. Though I think she would cling to Azriel just for some peace and quiet' was in ACOMAF) and who's given them some very pivotal scenes, some romantic scenes, some domestic scenes, all the while pulling Elain and Lucien further and further apart, so much so that he is now living with another woman--they think that she also ended it all in a ... bonus chapter?
Part of me wants to ask 'what are you on'? but then I guess if you drink enough Gwynriel Cool Aid, that's the result.
But like, critical thinking? Were?

Ok man, I'm getting extremely tired of the Elriel's stagnant arguments. So let me debunk them. Forbidden romance! No, for God's sake, it is NOT forbidden. Feyre and Rhysand would support them both if Elain and Azriel truly loved each other. Not like Lucien would try to get in between them anyway. ElAiN dEsErVeS a ChOiCe! Choice implies multiple options! That means Lucien is a choice too! Elain has chosen Azriel for now! That doesn't mean she can't change her mind! Besides, haven't you EVER heard of the reluctant lovers trope? Be creative please. BuT wHaT iF tHe CaUlDrOn WaS wRoNg? Yeah, the Cauldron could be wrong about Eris and Mor, or it could be wrong about the Lady of Autumn and Helion. Why does this one line HAVE to be referring to elriel? SJM often uses lines like these to foreshadow plotlines yes, but she is never THAT obvious about it. Rhysand was being a hypocrite stopping the Azriel kiss! You could argue that he was, sure, but he was also trying to prevent a major political scandal. SJM isn't going to write Rhysand being wrong in any situation, lmao. Love or hate the character, it doesn't matter. That's just the way she has written him. Elain is an introvert! No. She's just traumatized. Nesta, her sister, says it. Lucien is a fake mate! Azriel showed mating behavior? Uhhhh no. Azriel went after MOR in the King of Hybern scene. Lucien went after guess who? Yeah, ELAIN. It was Nesta who realized Elain was gone and began to worry. Azriel only volunteered after Cassian couldn't go because he was wounded and he was the easy option aside from Feyre because he could hide in the shadows. And guess what? He saved Gwyn too! Maybe he just has a savior complex! Lucien is the one who was concerned about Elain's mental and physical health. Azriel seemed pretty chill when she wasn't eating. And he did NOT want to look after Elain. He made fun of Cassian for having to do it. ElAiN hAs TwO mAtEs! SJM is not going to write that. It would fuck everything up. She wants both characters to be happy. Gwyn is a lightsinger? Probably not, but so fucking what if she ends up being one? You think that's gonna deter Mr. Torturer Azriel? If anything that'll only bring them closer. Nice try. BuT luCiEn Is InTo VaSsA! NO. STOP IT. HE WAS CANONICALLY SEEN TO BE LOOKING AT ELAIN WITH LONGING IN ACOSF. DON'T SPREAD LIES. Vassa is definitely more into Jurian, which is a pairing that makes sense. Lucien is a side character. Um...no? Lucien has been around since book 1. He was a very significant character in that book as well. And in books 2 and 3, he might not have had as much screentime, but almost every moment he had was monumental. We see him survive the Night Court. We hear his story of fulfilling Calanmai, implying he is also chosen by the Spring Court. We have him helping Feyre kill off the twins of Hybern, bring back the army with Vassa, balance 3 roles and still dress immaculately, dominate Cassian with one word. He is also connected to almost every potential plotline in existence. Ok, this one isn't Elriel but some people say TaMlAiN! Because of the spring court foreshadowing. Guess who lived in the Spring Court for decades? Lucien! Guess who is the current Spring Court ruler but isn't doing much of ruling? Tamlin! Guess who also was able to do Spring Court Calanmai? Lucien! Wow, it almost looks like Lucien is going to replace Tamlin! SJM is not going to put one sister with another sister's ex anyway, that's weird. Elain has her chosen family in the Night Court in Nuala and Cerridwen! She belongs there! No. Just stop it. SJM could not be more clear with that line about the black dress sucking the life out of her and Elain being bothered by the cruelty in the Hewn City. Guess who is also pretty averse to violence? Oh yeah, Lucien! As for chosen family... Feyre had Tamlin and Lucien. They didn't end up being her chosen family, the IC did. Nesta didn't find her chosen family until her book. Lucien's band of exiles are not his chosen family either. Lucien and Elain are just really good at making friends.

Ive come to the conclusion that Gwynriels are probably the most healthiest side of the ship war.
Its just my opinion MIND IT!
Like most elriels are sometimes anti gwyn or lucien and have a very strong ego which i wont talk much about. They can also be anti nessian (i dont mind) but also anti Nesta and most likely pro feysand. They have honestly crossed multiple boundaries with the fandom
-threats 2 sjm's family including her son-r@pe dms-shaming real people for not including something or simply saying something-
They shamed author Elena Armas for saying she leaned toward Gwynriel more so much she put it on her story
Shamed an author recently for saying sjm's outfit gave Gwyn vibes
ETC,ETC,ETC
Eluciens in terms of real life are very healthy and are honestly the smaller portion of the ship wars. However as much as it is so fun to ship elain and lucien, many eluciens hold the stance such as ''anti feysand, anti nessian, anti inner circle, anti Azriel'' There isnt anything wrong with that ofc!
Gwynriels have been involved with a bit of both. There have been real life toxic versions of them (imo not as bad as elriels) and they sometimes hate on Elain but that's pretty much it. Gwynriels are most likely eluciens so they love Gwyn,Elain,Lucien,Azriel, inner circle, valkyries, feysand, nessian and the normal. (some dont)
I feel like it we are going to continue the series, its more peaceful to just not hate the characters because honestly you might just have to find a different series because Sarah loves a lot that yall hate.
Just from my personal experience and what i have seen in like my four-ish years in this fandom. Not as long as some of you but around the time the ship wars started haha
I used to be an Elriel too because like most elriels i thought the 3sis x 3bros was perfect. Its not and im not going to talk about it here. Just saying, during those times i was disturbed by some elriels comments and how cocky and mean they could be. It was not even confidence just flat out insults, jabs and comments i hate such as ''ours is canon theirs is fanon'' ''delusional'' ''did you even read the same book'' Keep in mind the fandom was NOT the reason i switched to gwynriel/elucien so don't even try to bombarde me with all the elucien/gwynriel comments and hell yeah i know they exist.
I will forever be an elucien and love elain and lucien together and divided although some of them can be immature and they lack some understanding.
Literally all of this could apply to Gwynriel however being apart of the Gwynriel side is easiest for me!
Can any of yall agree?
Please be nice btw!

I need people to know that Gwynriel is a strictly online epidemic..…the majority of ACOTAR readers are not involved in the online fandoms and have never even considered Gwyn being a romantic option for Azriel and they haven’t heard if the bonus chapters, cause, you know, bonus chapters are not going to change the plot at all. I would bet real money those people are expecting a Elriel book next, though I’m sure some are expecting Elucien. But to be fair Lucien is a potential romantic option for Elain even though it’s clear Elain doesn’t want him.
Like SJM said when asked who the next book is about “I thought it was pretty obvious”

Well well well.... When I hear that unhinged assholes have been barking mad about Gwyneth Berdara I most certainly make an appearance...
To the people who have had the misfortune of reading delusional, distasteful and disgusting takes full of venom about a character that has literally done nothing wrong but be brave , kind , selfless and full of warmth and love ... Please understand these kids have perhaps swapped their brains for their asses only pure shit seems to come off of it ...
Insecurity is a disease and a dangerous yet hilarious one at that 🤣
For the genius who apparently wrote we speak more of Gwyn than Emerie because Emerie is a POC .... please remember I laughed and laughed pretty hard because
1. Gwynriels love Em just as much and make a lot more content for her compared to the useless poisonous plants on the other side this is clear for anyone with 2 functional eyes and a brain which has even 1 working brain cell
2. Gwyn is definitely more fleshed out as a character than Emerie is at this point.... anyone who has read ACOSF which most elriels haven't would understand that ... it ain't rocket science
3. This POC narrative is dumb .... Az , Cass and Rhys are also POC .... and they are the most spoken about characters from that series ... try harder that was a miserable fail
4. Side character narrative ... dumb asses need to understand Elain, Mor , Az , Gwyn, Em are all side characters at this point and it's more likely Az getting the book next shared with Gwyn will make Gwyn a MC before Elain .... sucks to be you guys is all I will say...
Last but not the least to the new unhinged losers .... One thing you need to know about me ? I simply don't engage with filth ... I just don't dignify idiots with a response so please feel free to stay the fuck out of my way ...

Everyone can ship whoever they want but I’m always appalled at how many people seriously ship Gwynriel. Girl is Nesta’s friend and while she’s part of her story, she’s not relevant enough to the overarching plot. What would her and Az’s book be about? Because he is getting a book we all know that. She is a secondary character, he is not.
With Lucien I can *kinda* understand the situation a bit more because it makes more sense, but with Gwyn? I think some of you just took a crackship way too seriously and mixed canon with headcanon.
Also, “3 brothers and 3 sisters is cheesy and lazy writing!”. My brother in Christ do you know who SJM even is? That woman loves cheesy! Why would she make such a big deal out of number 3 for her to do the exact opposite? She definitely knows what she’s doing with Elriel because she has been using mating bonds in every single one of her series, so if you say they would be cliché is because you are not really bothered about “predictability”. It is pretty much hypocritical that everyone seems to love the mate trope but loathes the idea of 3x3, which by the way, she has never done before.

I saw someone bashing Azriel’s choice in a gift -the necklace- all while placing Lucien’s gifted magical gloves on a pedastal?
They said something along the lines of “10 females in the NC could have that same necklace so it’s not special. 2 years pass and all he could give her was a necklace?”
Yet the magical gloves are special? And way more interesting?
I’m sorry but it’s kind of funny.
Prythian is literally a magical land. I’m pretty sure magical/enchanted gloves are just as common as a blade of grass.
Plus, the point in the necklace wasn’t just because it was pretty. I don’t think the materialistic value matters. It held sentimental value, held an ulterior meaning.
The golden necklace seemed ordinary -- its chain unremarkable, the amulet tiny enough that it could be dismissed as an everyday charm. It was a small, flat rose fashioned of stained glass, designed so that when held to the light, the true depth of the colors would become visible. A thing of secret, lovely beauty.
I think the whole meaning of the necklace was just to be a metaphor for Elriel’s relationship, or at least Azriel’s feelings. It seems ordinary to any passerby but its true colors only show when that chosen person makes the effort to see them.
But yeah, the necklace is lame.
Yet Elain didn’t care for the gloves and threw them off to the side. And she instead loved the gift Az gave her. Immediately asked him to help put it on her, even.
🤔Hmm, I wonder why.
We’ve officially gotten to the point where people hate on a ship so much that they bash a necklace and glorify a pair of gloves 💀

Saw somebody talking about this and now I can’t unthink it but what if Sarah upon realizing how thirsty the fans are for a non-mates/broken mating bond storyline decided to give it to Nessian instead of Elucien???
I know people feel really strongly about Elucien vs Elriel but I genuinely have no opinion either way and do not think it’s obvious which route she’ll go (i’ve seen “concrete evidence” from both sides i’m just not convinced😭) If Elain does end up with Lucien though there’s a good 50% of the fandom that will be left pretty unhappy/annoyed in part because of how obvious/repetitive the whole mating bond thing is, so what if Nesta and Cassian end up breaking the bond and Nesta winds up with someone else instead…
I think this would be a genuine surprise unlike anything we’ve seen in a minute from SJM. She mentioned in an interview breaking bonds was something she was planning to explore and while Elain/Lucien feels like the clear target its so obvious and also not the full scope of potential? Unlike Rhys, I am of the mind if Elain chose to end the bond because she’s in love with someone else Lucien would not suddenly start having blood duels but simply…accept it, because he’s a good guy. There’s really no established relationship there or reason for them to be loyal to each other besides the bond. But NESSIAN on the other hand has this whole history of good and bad aside from the bond and I think Nesta questioning the bond and trying to leave Cassian would be SUCH drama. Also, the timeline of HOFAS was changed not long before release (originally mean to take place 7 months post ACOSF, changed to 3) to mean Nesta and Cassian haven’t had their whole mating ceremony yet...
Again, maybe i’m just silly (hopeful) but I think this would be so interesting and I’m kind of sick of the whole mating bond story and nessian and i feel like there’s some real potential to do something different in the series that would elevate it to a more TOG level status rather than keeping us so confined in the world of the IC and Night Court

Chapter One: Bad Omens
In a village like Velaris, where the winters were deadly, and the nights deadlier still, there was no such thing as being too cautious.
Every afternoon, as the streets went from gold to cobalt, the echoes of locks clicking into place could be heard ringing through the village – such a definite sound, legend says, that it could too be heard across the Illyrian Mountains. As soon as the sun set, there was no window left open, no door left unlocked. To keep the cold away, of course, but something else as well.
As it was, everyone in the kingdom of Prythian knew just how strange Velaris was – they heard the tales of people going missing under mysterious circumstances, of houses that seemed to move during the night. They heard whispers of how no animal seemed to ever cross the village's borders, other than the occasional bat or two. It was why no visitor ever lingered for too long, why their carriages seemed to pick up speed as soon as the rusty brass sign announced the name of the town (Velaris, city of starlight). Why their gazes turned unfocused, their horses restless, no one really knew - some said it was fear, some said it was something older than fear itself. It was why no one ever moved to Velaris – you were simply born here, and then you never left.
That is until, merely 6 years ago, the Archeron sisters came. Their carriage – an old wooden coach that seemed a few miles away from collapsing on itself, pulled by a stubborn, stocky horse they tenderly called father– stopped in front of a small cottage just shy of the city limits.
Their arrival had been odd enough to raise some eyebrows, but that they had arrived just as the sun fled from the sky, clear-faced and a spring in their steps, had driven even the more sceptical into lightening three extra candles.
That night, not even the bravest dared look outside their windows. Nothing good ever graces the streets of Velaris at sundown, they would say, and so they ignored the wind that seemed just a bit more incessant against their windows, the noises that went beyond the arrival of three young girls. They simply turned off their lights, muttered three quick prayers to the Mother and rushed the youngest children to bed.
There was simply no need to show bad luck a curious eye. Not when it could stare back.
That the youngest Archeron sister – a pretty little thing with stars in her eyes and a talent for the arts – disappeared no longer than a fortnight later didn't come as a surprise. The people knew what had lurked in the shadows as the young girls made Velaris their new home. They knew it was just a matter of time until one of them would be taken away, gone as if she never were in the first place. She hadn't made a sound - not a scream, not a gasp - but everyone knew exactly who had gotten to her.
The older sister, however, ignored such tales. Only a few days later - the amount of time it had taken her to gather enough supplies to face the cold of the mountains - Nesta Archeron left home, a too-large wool cape around her shoulders, a too-heavy burlap sack on her back, and a determined look on her beautiful face. A quiet conversation had taken place between her and sister, Elain Archeron, which had ended in a hushed goodbye and a resentful agreement. What they had discussed had stayed between them and that cursed horse that always seemed to be paying entirely too much attention.
Don’t know how that girl thinks she’ll survive, the villagers had said as they watched her leave, bitter words hidden beneath soft voices, not when they crawl the streets at night. Elain Archeron had heard their whispers, but she hadn't need to ask who they were. She knew - just as everybody knew - exactly what lived in the mountains.
The Wicked - the only name the Velarians ever allowed themselves to utter when talking about the terrible creatures that lived in the Mountains of Illyrian– the very same creatures they claimed had stolen Feyre Archeron, the ones they believed would take Nesta Archeron as well. With their keen sight and their sharp fangs, there was little that could defeat an Illyrian - they were honed by centuries of survival, predators in the purest form. And as the weeks went by and no one word ever came about the sisters' whereabouts, the villagers grew sure of what it meant, even if Elain Archeron refused to accept it.
Still, no matter how cursed – how marked – the sisters seemed to be, what with their night travels and their eerie disappearances, nothing so stop the people of Velaris from asking Elain Archeron to tend their gardens.
The more cynical ones would say it was pity – the poor thing had lost both her sisters in a matter of days (something Elain still refuted ardently, that pitiful child) and all she had left was a rude horse and a small cottage to tend to. But the wisest ones - the people that were too smart to shrug it all off as superstitions - knew talent when they saw it, and there was no one more talented that Elain Archeron at keeping the Illyrian bastards away from their homes.
They hadn’t questioned how she knew, how she had learned such things, but it mattered little when, in just a matter of months, every single house in Velaris was surrounded by rosemary, thyme and just enough bushes of lavender. Purples and greens and pinks covered every garden in a lush display that ought to mock the vampires lurking in the shadows - and mock they did, for their wings weren't heard as often, for curses and hisses could be heard during the night, as if they kept trying to cross into places they weren't welcome in. Their fragrances, the people gathered, seemed to keep those damned fangs away from their backyards.
And so, Elain Archeron – sisterless, innocent, as lovely as she was lonely – became revered in the village of Velaris. Ivy seemed to grow in every corner, the sickeningly sweet smell of the flowers tainting even the foulest booths of the market. No one left their homes after dark – no one was stupid enough to - but now they seemed to breathe a little easier. To sleep a little more deeply.
Such was the relief, the glee, that no one ever remembered to ask why, exactly, the Archeron cottage seemed so different from all the others - instead of rosemary,  there were evening primroses, blooming only from sundown to sunrise. Instead of thyme, thistles, their prickles as sharp as teeth. And instead of lavender - sweet, innocent lavender - poppies, as scarlet as fresh blood. You need only to open an ancient tome on Botany to find out exactly what they did - who they summoned.
Which explained why, when the people of Velaris seemed to finally lay down to sleep, the door of the Archeron cottage would open and Elain would emerge - ever so lovely - her hands bare, her smile innocent, her voice as sweet as dew as she hummed an old tune about lost souls and tended to her little garden. And she smiled even as the thistles bit into her skin, and she hummed even as the air behind her seemed to stir.
Yes, Elain was well respected for knowing how to keep the beasts that haunted the streets of Velaris far away, but had they ever wondered if maybe - just maybe - she knew exactly how to call to them as well?
Elain raised her head slightly when she felt the air around her go still, a curious tilt to her head as she felt a presence behind her. Still, she remained silent, the blood slowly dripping down her fingers, waiting for him to talk first.
And he did. He always did.
"Miss Archeron," A deep voice rumbled, dark as midnight and just as promising. Elain still didn't dare move. "I believe you called for me?"
