So, I may be a day late, but I still want to make a little post for Simblr Gratitude Day 💜
To start off, my memory is pretty bad, so I just know I'm gonna miss tagging people... and honestly, there's way more people on here I'm grateful for than tumblr's limit of 50! So I'm starting out addressing everyone.
To everybody that likes or reblogs my posts, sends comments or asks, shares their sims with me, or uses my cc: I love you. Yes, you! I may be bad at answering back sometimes, but I cherish every interaction I get- a lot of the times they have me kicking my feet and giggling, or sometimes I'm barking and scaring my cat. Asks really make my day and even when I don't reply so fast, they warm my heart. Asks I've gotten on here have genuinely helped me in my dark times, and renewed my faith in this community as a whole, because some of you are just so freaking amazing and kind. Especially now with everything I've been going through, sims and being here has remained a comfort for me because of you all. Even if there's speed bumps from time to time, I truly believe there's more good here than bad, and y'all should be proud of yourselves and your capacity for endless kindness. Thank you!
Now, I'm going to address a few specific precious people I'm grateful for.

when did nico and lexi say i love you for the first time
I am going to be honest with you. I’m not good company tonight. I don’t think I should come out.
Nico is brushing his teeth when he sees the text from Lexi. His eyebrows furrow. He knows she just got off a shift at the hospital, but when he checked in with her during break, she seemed in good spirits. He spits into the sink, rinsing that and his toothbrush before popping it back into the holder. He grabs his phone, pressing her contact to call her.
“Hello?” She answers.
“Hi sweets.”
“Hey.” She sniffs, exhaling heavily. It is obvious she is crying.
“What’s going on?” Lexi begins to cry harder.
“Um, I just don’t think I can come out. I would be a downer.”
“Okay?” He rubs the back of his neck.
“But you should go!” She tries to perk up. “Have fun with the guys and get ready for the season. I’m sure you want to see Emma and Timo too.”
“Well, yeah but I want to make sure you’re okay. Can I come down?”
“No because you’ll come down here and you won’t leave.” She sighs. “I know you, Hischier.”
“What’s wrong with that?”
“You’re the captain of this team. And you put this event on.”
“So? I’m your boyfriend too. Those are equally important roles.” Lexi chuckles sadly.
“You’re so good, Neeks.” She whispers.
“Let me come down for a bit. Please.” He grabs his wallet, stuffing it into his back pocket. He clicks off the TV he had been watching and grabs a hat from the hook by the door.
“Okay.” Lexi says quietly.
They click off the phone and in another two minutes, Nico is knocking on her door. Lexi opens the door with swollen eyes and a red nose. Nico frowns deeply, opening his arms for her as he steps in. She crashes into his chest. His strong arms gather her close. He kicks the door shut behind them as soft whimpers and cries sound from his beautiful girlfriend. Nico holds her quietly. He doesn’t ask what is wrong. He doesn’t try to fix it. He just holds her for every second of her breaking down into pieces. When she is ready, he will hear from her.
Nico’s hands stroke her back, neck, and hair. He settles into a more comfortable stance with her weight, brushing his lips over her head.
“He is going to die.” She blurts into his chest.
“Hm?” He asks.
“He is going to die.”
“Who, Sweets?”
“Eli.” Nico’s mouth drops open. Eli is the patient Lexi has been taken care of in the NICU since his birth. He had a heart defect that required him to receive extensive care. He is only three months old. Eli had been doing well, working his way towards a transplant, but things took a turn earlier this week. Nico didn’t realize it was this grim.
“They deemed him not a candidate for transplant. He won’t survive the procedure.”
“Baby…” Nico cries to her, eyes filling with tears at how devastated she is. “I’m so sorry.” He grabs her face, wiping his thumbs over her cheeks. “So sorry… Can they get a second opinion?”
“We did.. and a third and forth.” She hiccups. Nico doesn’t know what else to say. He just hold her tight, wanting to absorb her into his body so he can feel all of this pain for her. There is no way he is leaving her tonight. He can’t let her go. His teammates will understand.
“How much time?”
“They think weeks, maybe months if he keeps responding to the treatment we are doing. But eventually that will stop as he grows. His heart will give out. His parents already signed the do not resuscitate papers.” Nico’s chest cracks open and immediately sends a prayer up that Lexi is not on that shift.
“Baby, let me take care of you.” Nico murmurs. Lexi cries harder.
“No, I don’t want to take you away from your teammates.”
“I am not leaving you.” He says firmly. “I don’t care if you kick me out, I will sit on the other side of this door so you aren’t alone.” Lexi has never had a man show up for her like this. The feeling is foreign, having someone to lean on.
Nico brings Lexi into her room. He strips her scrubs off, then helps her get into her pajamas. She doesn’t want to take a shower tonight. Her skin is dry and she can’t have more hard, hot water on her skin. He gets her in comfy clothes, then finds his sweatshirt that she stole the other night, putting it over her head. He tucks her into the couch with the remote to pick something to watch, then goes into the kitchen to make her a cup of tea and pour her a glass of red wine. She needs both for different reasons. He double checks she has sleepy time tea for later too. He knows she is going to need it.
“Nico?” Lexi whispers after they are settled into their spots on the couch.
“Hm?” He asks.
“I have been feeling something for a long time, but I’ve been nervous to say it. I’m scared of how quickly this has all happened with us but Eli is teaching me how short our life is. I’m not going to spend any more time resisting-“
“I love you.” He cuts her off. “I want to say it first. I wanted to say it last week but it didn’t feel right when we were having sex. I didn’t want you to think it was-“
Lexi cuts Nico off with her mouth. She wiggles her way up, clutching his neck and the cloth of his sweater.
“I love you. I love you. I love you.” She kisses along his nose and mouth. Nico’s arms wrap around her waist, squeezing her tight with him. She’s warm and soft and everything Nico has ever wanted in his life.
“I love you too, baby.” He whispers against her mouth. Her bottom lip wedges between the seam of his lips and he sucks on it, then pulls away.
A tingling begins at the back of Nico’s neck and his eyes close as Lexi runs her fingers through his long, thick locks. The tingling intensified until it starts to turn his cheeks slightly pink.
This isn’t the first time, but it’s another moment where he becomes intensely aware that he is holding his future wife.

Hey, I'm sorry if this is outside of your wheelhouse but you're one of my fav Butch bloggers and I wanted to get your honest opinion on it. I recently got an Instagram reel from a (white) Butch, yeehawllywood, shared on my feed which defined Butch as a Lesbian-exclusive gender identity and in a reply to a comment, that "Butch is to Lesbians what 2S is to the indigenous community".
Now I'm not Butch but I do have a cultural gender identity somewhat similar to 2S, and my partner is 2S herself. I think the comparison is somewhat offensive but since neither of us are Butch, I'd like a Butch Opinion on the whole thing so I'm not ignorant when I discuss how I disagree with it.

Oof, I am not two-spirit so I cannot speak to how offensive the comparison is but my understanding is that it would be pretty offensive and also at least fairly ignorant.
"Butch" as a term is not even woman-specific, as it was historically used in drag and ballroom scenes of all genders. But within sapphic spaces, it is neither lesbian-specific nor exclusively a gender identity. Butch can be used to describe someone masculine, it can describe queer masculinity, and it can be a gender. The beauty of butch is that it does not have hard borders--quite the opposite of two-spirit.
If anything, a term to compare to 2S is "stud," which is a descriptor/gender/gender modifier for Black masculinity which came about from gatekeeping of terms like butch over race and as a way to distinguish how Black masculinity has its own experiences separate from other mascs. Anyone who tells you that butch only belongs to X is a big liar, but Stud is a closed term that not anyone can claim.
"Butch" belongs to all genders, it belongs to all sexualities, and it describes a whole host of experiences of queer masculinity.

Album Review: Dybbuk Tse!

From The Artist: Yoni Mayraz states that the "Dybbuk, known from Jewish folklore, is a malevolent wandering spirit that enters and possesses the body of a living person. It’s a cursed soul of a dead one that wanders tirelessly for sins committed during their life. The most vulnerable victims are the young and the sinful. Possession can be taken literally or as an analogy to the burden that young people carry generations back, which they have no influence on, and which they have to accept. Dybbuk can only be removed by exorcism. The titular ‘Dybbuk Tse!’ is a command to remove the spirit from the possessed body. The album is a story about possession but also about exorcism through music."

Favorite Track: As We Entered Jericho
Authors thoughts: Wow, wow, wow! What an album! Mayraz has a truly unique sound and artistic voice that comes through here beautifully. A fusion of jazz, 90's NYC hip-hop, and Middle Eastern music, this album harbors a vibe like no other and a rooted story within. These three genres are blended beautifully together through structure, rhythm, melody and star-striking solos from each member of the band. The solos flow from instrument to instrument perfectly and the group seems to be in that state of "musician communication harmony" together. In particular, I enjoyed the groovy and flowing bass lines which Eli Orr rips out on bass guitar with a nice, rich, but synth-like tone. Somewhat dark yet light at the same time, Mayraz delivers his usual style of production while simultaneously experimenting with tinges of murkiness and gloom, resulting in the aforementioned dark/light contrast. I, personally, could not help but get up and dance to some of the tracks on here. My only real critique here is that the titular track (Track 5: Dybbuk Tse!) falls kind of flat in comparison to the rest of the album and the opening vocal sample on it feels out-of-place. Finally, I think the album art is surreally beautiful and worthy of mentioning here because it is just so cool. Very much worthy of it's high rating, I would recommend this album to anyone interested in or looking to get into fusion/contemporary jazz.

elie,
there are so many things i’d like to say, and so few words to explain.
this is going to be my first year celebrating your birthday, and i hope there will be many more.
i didn’t have the fortune of being around in your lifetime, but i am so grateful that i am able to exist in a time where your music and movies are so readily available. i am also grateful to exist in a time where methods of spiritual communication are not shunned, or considered taboo.
i have lost many people in my life, and interacted with many spirits. but i have never come across a spirit as strong and potent as yours.
i want to thank you for everything you’ve done. not just for me and my personal life, but for all the people who have ever loved you. and even for those that didn’t love you, you remained kind (or at the least, respectful.)
i think it’s absolutely amazing that every person i talk to about you has a story about how brilliant you were. they always speak of your kindness, your generosity, and your beauty, both inside and out.
you have given me a community where i belong, a fashion style that makes me feel more comfortable in myself (rather than less), music that swings me when i dance and holds me when i cry, and a new meaning to everything i see.
everywhere i look, you’re there. the way the sun reflects off the snow, the rainbow rings around the moon on a clear night, an angel number popping up at jus the right time, finding a rarity while vintage shopping, and seeing the exceeding kindness and beauty in other people as i do in you.
i have managed to create a life for myself in your name. and you aren’t god; i know that. but i do believe you are the closest thing humans have ever come to see as an angel walking the earth. you weren’t perfect, but i feel that’s a sobering reminder that none of us are.
you have made me a better person in every aspect. you’ve taught me that it is sometimes better to be silent when others are screaming, and just pray that god forgives their souls. you’ve shown me that i need to take care of my body from the inside out, and that experiences and memories are worth more than any material item.
in essence, you’ve become my satnin, my happiness.
i’ll leave you with this: i’ve come to realize that while it’s one thing to save someone’s life, it is another to give them life.
you have given me a life.

(Every quilt has a story)
Eli Wallace stood by the observation deck window of the Destiny, his eyes fixed on the vast expanse of space before him. As one of the few survivors aboard the ancient ship, he had become intimately acquainted with its mysteries. The quilt he had created, spread out across the room, depicted a story that seemed to mirror his own.
The first block showcased the USS Enterprise, its sleek lines and iconic saucer section capturing the essence of exploration and adventure. Eli had always admired the crew of the Enterprise, their courage and determination resonating with his own longing for discovery.
Next to it was Heveena's necklace from The Orville, a delicate symbol of love and connection. Eli's heart ached for the people he had left behind, especially for those he had cared deeply about. The necklace reminded him of the bonds he had formed on Earth and the sacrifices he had made for the greater good.
The Stargate from Stargate Universe was another prominent feature on the quilt. Eli had found himself on a remarkable journey through the Stargate, traveling to distant galaxies and encountering both wonders and dangers. The Stargate represented the infinite possibilities that lay beyond the boundaries of known space, reminding him to never stop seeking answers.
In a corner of the quilt, a Ferengi Dabo table from Deep Space 9 was depicted, symbolizing the unpredictability of life. Eli had learned that sometimes fortune favored the bold, and at other times, it tested one's resilience. The Ferengi's pursuit of profit and the intricate game of chance mirrored his own experiences of navigating the uncertainties of the universe.
Amidst the quilt's intricate patchwork, Klingons stood tall and proud. Their fierce warrior spirit reminded Eli of the battles he had fought, not only against external threats but also against his own fears and doubts. The Klingons represented the strength and resilience needed to survive in a hostile universe.
And finally, the interior blue lighting of the Destiny suffused the entire quilt, casting an ethereal glow on the tapestry of stories. It was a constant reminder of the ancient ship's presence, guiding and protecting those who called it home. Eli had spent countless hours marveling at the ship's beauty, finding solace in its gentle embrace.
As Eli gazed at the quilt, he felt a surge of gratitude. Each block was a fragment of his own narrative, a testament to the trials and triumphs he had experienced. He had woven together a story that encapsulated the essence of his journey—a tale of exploration, love, unpredictability, strength, and the enduring light that guided him through the darkest of times.
In that moment, as he stood in the observation deck of the Destiny, Eli Wallace realized that he was not just a passive observer of the universe, but an active participant in its unfolding story. And with renewed determination, he set his sights on the endless horizon, ready to embrace whatever lay beyond.

absolutely everything. he's such a huge simp for his s/o, and loves every part of them, inside and out. if he'd see his s/o struggling with insecurities, he'd literally shower them with love and reassurances, trying his level best to lift up their spirits.
comfort — how would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
soft hugs and even softer words, giving you space if you need it and staying by your side at all times if wanted. he'll be worried but gentle, slowly letting you calm down on their own instead of forcing you into any specific state of mind.
dreams — how do they picture their future with their s/o?
alberu isn't particularly concerned about it as long as you're there. all he sees when he envisions his future with you is warmth — flowers, dancing, maybe a little kid. he doesn't know, doesn't care, if he has you by his side he'll be perfectly okay.
equal — are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
alberu is more of a switch, honestly. there are days where he takes the lead, touring you around town and generally being more adventurous. then there are also days in which he's tired and exhausted and wants you to take the reins (either way, he's adorable).
fight — would they easily forgive their s/o? how are they fighting?
he'd rather not fight with you. every time you two fight, he feels guilty and anxious, twisting and turning all night, like there's a constant knife in his side. however, if it is a serious fight, then just give him some space. he'll calm down and he'll forgive you — well, he'll almost always forgive you.
gratitude — how grateful are they in general? are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
he's overflowing with gratitude, for all the times he has a nightmare, or gets angry, or has a bad day; for you, since you always deal with it. for all your patience with him, he's really grateful.
honesty — do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? or do they share everything?
nothing major. just small embarrassing tidbits that Cale tells you anyways so 🤷♀️ this is because he wouldn't hide anything from you since he likes talking about his day with you, and listening about yours.
inspiration — did their s/o change them somehow, or was it the other way around? for example, trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
alberu has helped you become a bit more level headed, to step back and view a seemingly large crisis as a minor issue. in his point of view, you've taught him to stop using silvery words around people to use them, to try out things he hasn't before, and generally both of you have helped each other. he wouldn't have it any other way.
jealousy — do they get jealous easily? how do they handle it?
he does get jealous, (not that easily either) but he normally doesn't act on it unless he can see that you're uncomfortable. then he guides you away with a firm but gentle hand on your waist, and a cold glare to the person that was bothering you a few minutes ago.
kiss — are they a good kisser? how was the first kiss?
he's clumsy but soft, a hand on your cheek and another on your waist, completely losing himself for a few blissful minutes <33
the first kiss was so featherlight, so tender and sweet that you could cry just thinking about it. his hands, interlinked with yours, his larger frame pressed against your smaller one, the two of you off in your own little world.
love confession — how would they confess to their s/o?
literally a scene straight from an anime. flushed red cheeks, fancy restaurant, causal hand-holding, simple and sweet. you can see the fear of rejection in his heart, but all this effort makes your heart break with how adorable he's being. don't you dare say no i am holding you on gunpoint.
marriage - do they want to get married? if so, how would they propose? what would the wedding, and marriage afterwards, be like?
since he's of such high status, he cannot just keep courting you forever. his proposal would be somewhere solitary, isolated, where you two are alone, and the wedding.. well, he'll let you pick. he's fine with whatever as long as you're happy.
and if you ask about married life, well... sleeping in late, cuddles, forehead kisses forehead kisses are so intimate i'm gonna cry, just peaceful and serene all around.
nicknames — what do they call their s/o?
old, classic nicknames, like 'love' or 'darling', but occasionally adds small words in front to tease. for example, 'little love', 'pretty sweetheart' etc. but he also loves calling you by your name, loves how easily it rolls off of his tongue, like second nature.
on cloud nine - what are they like when they are in love? is it clear that they are in love for others? how do they express their feelings?
oh my goodness. he's been driving cale mad with his lovesick rambles about you. and it's not just cale, everybody notices the spring in his step and pink blush on his cheeks everytime he interacts with you. he's just.. it's like puppy love, if you get what i mean.
pda - are they straightforward about their relationship? do they brag with their s/o in front of others? or are they rather shy to kiss, hug etc., when others are watching?
it depends, honestly. if he's feeling confident and cocky, then sure. he'll kiss you breathless, wrap you in his jacket when you're cold. and then there are those days where he won't start it but if you take the initiative and give him some soft affection, he'll melt.
quirk — do they have any random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship?
uhm, he's really good at setting the tone. his humor and uplifted spirit causes you to be cheerful in his presence as well, while when he's upset, you feel grief-stricken as well, smoothing back the fluffy blonde hair to wipe the tears from his eyes.
romance — how romantic are they? what would they do to make their s/o happy? are they cliché or rather creative?
he's.. uhm, he means well but he can be a bit cheesy at times. he'd do absolutely anything and everything to make you happy and he's a natural romantic, even if he's not really trying — his buttery words, soft gestures and the tender look in his eyes just make you go a deep shade of pink all over.
thrill - do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? or are they okay with a certain routine?
if you're more on the thrill seeking spectrum, that's okay, if you're on the calmer side, that's perfectly fine. he's alright with either and is the most supportive s/o ever, cheering you on through every high and low (mm cheerleader alberu).
understanding — how good do they know their partner? are they empathetic?
he knows you like the back of his hand — and most days can tell when you're upset. offers you silent comfort, rubbing circles on your hand and letting the world hold you two.

alberu has a quiet way of making you feel better after a bad day. like, you could just come into you two's bedroom, silently fuming, and he'll take your face in his hands and just.. kiss you, let you feel better on your own, reveling in the time together.

i already mentioned the pda part, but in private? he's the biggest cuddle bug ever, not letting you sleep at night or leave the bed in the mornings without his daily dose of cuddles. sulks if he doesn't get them.

immerses himself in work just so he can finish as quick as possible, and return to you. if it's a longer period of separation, he writes long, descriptive letters to you and just hopelessly daydreams (yes, i know all the angst potentials for 'missing their partner' but since this is a fluff alphabet i'll spare you guys).
zeal — are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? if so, what kind of lengths?
he's willing to do whatever. anything, if he gets to have you, happy and content by his side, then he'll do every arduous tasks assigned to him. anything, absolutely anything for you. he knows he loves you. maybe you do too.

Countdown to 2023 - Day 1
First, am I the only one that is in total denial that we are just days away from 2023? Excuse me, but I'm still trying to figure out how it's not 2010... and here we are in 2023. One thing is true, my friends, time is swift, and while days may seem long, years go by in the blink of an eye. Please keep that in mind, always.
Day 1 - 3 writers or stories that made this year bright
Well, I'm so grateful to Dani for providing this directive: The number is just for fun; you are welcome to include more or less than the daily "guide" number. Because 3 just will not cut it.
I'm often hesitant to do these things because I absolutely hate leaving anyone feeling left out, but then I also lose the opportunity to celebrate some who have really been special to me. So, in that spirit, please understand that there is no way today's post, or those that follow, could ever completely capture everyone who has been an important part of my fandom experience this year. If we have interacted in any way, big or small, I see you, and you matter.
So, without further ado... here are my definitely more than 3 mentions for 2023.
@a-crepusculo My sweet, sweet friend. Your poetic writing, which often leaves me with the greatest case of imposter syndrome, is made more special for me because I know the beautiful soul that lies behind it. It's a reflection of you and who you are, and that reflection is beautiful. How happy I am whenever I see a notification that you've posted, and I know it's not something you can focus on now, but just know it's missed - and I hope you'll grace us with your work again. You're amazing.

Baseball is one of the few sports where a fan has the opportunity to take away a physical memory. A moment frozen in time, in the form of a baseball. When a foul ball sails through the air, up, up over the heads of players and fans alike, an excited fan has the opportunity to pluck it straight out of the air (as long as it doesn’t crash into their face first). Some bring catcher’s mitts to increase their odds of being The One to catch the ball, and others improvise with baseball caps. Some are young, some are old, but the wonder in their eyes is all the same. Because that ball is undeniably special - it was a part of the action. A piece of the game, broken free, for someone to catch. Something that almost every player has interacted with - even the team you aren’t there to see. That ball embodies the hopes and dreams of every player on that field, as well as every single fan in the stands, and when a fan catches it they feel a rush of emotion. Excitement. Joy. Disbelief. Then they have the choice whether to keep that joy and excitement all to themselves, or give it away to a younger fan and spread the joy. No matter what, catching a foul ball can be a magical experience for fans, and make them feel like they were the ones to hit the Home Run.

Rin deserves a cat Pokémon, but will she be allergic? I hope not. Because she would have a Skitty as her partner. An energetic and perhaps a bit erratic cat! It's considered rather feminine in appearance, and I think Rin would have liked having a cute, "girly" Pokémon when she was younger to help her with her dysphoria and to avoid teasing from kids who told her she looked weird in skirts :(
Hanayo is a soft-spoken girl who only seems to perk up around rice and idols. She's extremely shy and insecure, and she would either need a Pokemon who can soothe her or one who can speak up for her. I think a Jigglypuff would be ideal, because it loves to sing but it can also be really tough! Plus it's super cute and fluffy, which fits Hanayo.
Maki has an Audino! Her parents gave her Audino because of their association with hospitals and healthcare in certain regions, but this Audino turned out to be an amazing help for Maki's pursuit of music! Audino have extremely sensitive hearing, so helping Maki with tuning her piano and fixing rough spots was easy.
Honoka has major Growlithe energy, since she's fiery and headstrong and determined. Her Growlithe keeps her from doing anything too dangerous.
Kotori OBVIOUSLY has a bird. Swablu is perfect with its fluffy, cotton wings for our baby bird seamstress! But when it evolves, it's surprisingly powerful, much like how scary Kotori can be when she's serious!
Umi has to have a water type, of course. I propose Oshawott. It's cute and spunky, which probably helps Umi smile and laugh. However it evolves into a samurai, which is fitting for our traditional and honorable beauty!
Nico wants a Pokémon that can shine on stage with her. She builds her team around the concept of cuteness. But we know she bites. Mawile is a fairy type and quite cute... until the jaws come around!
Nozomi definitely has a Gardevoir. The spiritual queen needs a psychic type! Plus, Ralts are good at soothing emotions, which I'm sure she needed as a kid when she was constantly moving around and painfully lonely without any friends. :(
Eli grew up with a Snorunt she received from her grandmother. Now she and her fully-evolved Froslass can dance together elegantly with their thawed hearts!
Aqours
Hanamaru has a name that literally means "flower circle." I propose an Oddish, which is very much a round grass type! Ultimately, as Hanamaru builds confidence as an idol and trainer, her Oddish evolves into Bellossom who dances alongside her!
Ruby would totally have a fairy type. But hear me out: Sylveon. She started with an Eevee like her big sister Dia, but her love was so strong she ended up with a Sylveon!! Trans icon covered in ribbons.
Yohane's best friend is an Absol. She's got horrible luck, but her Absol can sense disasters in advance to try to keep her safe! Plus, Yohane is edgy and would love a dark type.
Chika is the embodiment of the sun, if you ask me. We also know she loves mikans! Not quite an orange, but I think Cherubi would be a good companion for her! Once she evolves into Cherrim, I have no doubt she will spend most of her time in sunshine form because Chika is so radiant! (But it's okay to be in overcast form when you're struggling, Chika!)
You needs a partner who can brave the seas with her! As basic as this may seem, I think Squirtle would be perfect! We know they work well in squads, so Captain You should get along great with Squirtle as her first mate!
Riko, my sweet girl with severe depression. Miss Sakurauchi should have a grass type, right? I think Chikorita is a great idea! Meganium's aromatic flower can soothe emotions, and its breath can revive dead plants. I think Meganium could help "revive" Riko's spirits, too!
Mari is known for being shiny, but we mustn't forget she's lonely too. I like to picture her with a shiny Zoroark. She found a lost and scared Zorua on her family's huge lawn, and she took the little baby in. Zoroark are fiercely loyal Pokémon, and they will use illusions and intimidation to keep enemies away. I bet... Zoroark has had to comfort Mari a lot during her loneliest times. Also Mari would 100% gush over her giant purple edgelord like it's the cutest creature in existence. Metalhead Mari my beloved.
Kanan obviously has a water type partner. She needs a Pokémon who can keep up with her on both land and sea, and so I think she'd bond with a Buizel from a young age! Once Buizel evolves into Floatzel, it can help rescue divers who run into trouble with its flotation sac!
Dia is elegant and refined. She's determined to make her family proud, and she's highly traditional. However, she's also devoted to her dear sister Ruby. Do you remember the Kimono Girls in Johto who each had an Eeveelution? That's why Dia and Ruby both started with Eevees! Dia's Eevee evolves into Glaceon, which suits our New Year's girl (and is even colored like a diamond). A bit cold, but loving and protective nonetheless.
Nijigasaki
Shioriko is extremely disciplined, perhaps too much so to the point where she comes across as uptight and controlling. I think she'd do well with a Medicham, which is elegant but also has sharp senses by training its mind & body with meditation & yoga!
Rina needs an Espurr. I cannot emphasize this enough. Do I even need to explain this?
Kasumi is another idol who thrives on her cuteness. I have to go with Fidough. It's a PUPPY made of BREAD. Mia teases her about that relentlessly.
Shizuku has to have a water type, since her idol icon is raindrops! Starting with a Popplio makes sense, since it's got a lot of tricks and skills to show off on a stage, and a fully-evolved Primarina is perfect to join Shizuku in a musical!
Ai is a ball of energy and laughter and fun. I can totally see her and Misato having a Plusle and Minun, respectively, as they start their journeys together! (Misato needed to wait for her health.) Plusle loves to cheer people and Pokemon on, using "Helping Hand" as needed for an extra boost. Is that not Ai?
Ayumu is a flower girl. Her songs and story are rife with floriography. Conceptually, I think Hoppip would be perfect. Much as Ayumu sings about moving forward one step at a time towards her dream, Hoppip can join her for a hop(pip), skip(loom), and jump(luff)!
Setsuna is the embodiment of fiery passion. She pours her heart and mind into everything she does. I know it sounds basic, but I love the idea of her having a Charmander. They kindle each other's flames and keep the other going. Plus, she's deeply into superheroes (the super sentai type), and I feel like Charizard would be perfect to help her reenact some crazy scenes. She has a big presence, and who fits that better than Charizard?
Lanzhu is a queen and she won't let you forget that. However, she is also associated with angel imagery. I think she'd grow up with a Togepi and then a Togetic, but Togetic refuses to evolve into Togekiss until Lanzhu finds peace and kindness in her heart.
Kanata needs a nap. While Drowzee may come to mind, her idol symbol is a sheep. I think she'd be wonderful with an Ampharos. It evolves from little sheep (Mareep and Flaafy), and its light is so bright that it can serve as a lighthouse or otherwise as a beacon for those who are lost. Kanata is always tired because she overworks herself as a devoted big sister; she wants to be the light that leads others to their dreams.
Mia would receive a music-related Pokemon from her parents, given her role as a member of a prestigious musical family. I can see her with a Chatot who's just as sassy as she is. Chatot helps her with composing new songs but also parrots all of the cursing that Mia does when she's struggling. Oops.
Emma has a Skiddo named Neve and I do NOT accept criticism! She doesn't need her Pokemon to be super strong--she just wants to be friends with her Pokemon! She can ride her Skiddo while singing, like a traveling bard.
Karin is beautiful, cool, and competitive. She's kind of a dork with a horrible sense of direction, too. I can see her with a Lopunny, as a strong, elegant counterpart who also has a soft & cute side. Specifically with the ability Klutz.
Liella!
Natsumi has a Persian she raised from a Meowth. She isn't a very good trainer, but at least Persian is independent enough to best some weaker trainers. Uses Pay Day a lot for quick cash.
Kinako is fox-coded, as her symbol indicates. Most fox Pokémon tend to be sly or cunning, but our country girl Kinako is as sweet as they come. I could see her with an Eevee that comes to the city with an Everstone, but later Kinako takes off the stone as they grow together. Eevee evolves into Espeon because of her friendship.
Mei loves cute things and people, but because other kids fear her "scary" face, she would get an equally "scary" Pokémon because she'd think cute ones don't suit her. I can see her with a Houndour... who happens to love belly rubs and whimpers when you won't play with her.
Shiki insists her Beldum is the cutest Pokémon in existence from the moment she catches them in her "lab" as a child. As a Metagross, they're even cuter. Don't ask about how Shiki uses her steel/psychic partner for science experiments. Don't. :)
Chisato MUST have a round Pokémon! Maybe a Bounsweet who evolves into an AMAZING dancer Tsareena!
Sumire needs a space-themed Pokémon so she can be the best coordinator in the galaxy! Cleffa (eventually Clefable) seems like the natural choice! How could anyone NOT want to watch a pair of cutie pies shine on TV?
Keke loves pandas, but that seems too... cliche. I think she'd have a Snubbull partner! People judge Snubbull at first glance because of appearances, but they're loyal, determined, and loving Pokemon. Keke looks like a happy-go-lucky and carefree girl, but her burning passion and dedication to idols is beyond everyone's expectations. Also she's a star student. How. Girl. Share your secrets.
Kanon grew up with her family's Rowlet! Rowlet is a quiet little guy, storing energy during the day and flying silently with ninja-like attacks. Kanon is someone who chooses to stay quiet after she thinks her dreams are over, but she's also a reserved, anxious person in general. I can see her sitting in the sun "photosynthesizing" with her Rowlet. They grow stronger together, but even Decidueye lurks in the shadows and stays silent. Don't make either of them do public speaking, please.
Ren loves her Stoutland Chibi dearly, but Chibi is not a battling type. She actually has a Sinistea as a partner! She poured some tea and left it for a moment, and in a large, lonely, empty house like hers... a spirit was all too willing to inhabit her cup. But she didn't mind the new resident in her manor, where the emptiness is oppressive. Two lonely souls who became unlikely friends. (And of course hers is antique)

Harley Quinn voice actress Arleen Sorkin has died
Arleen Sorkin, who was a star in Days of Our Lives but was perhaps best known for her role as Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series, died late last week at the age of 67 after a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis.
Entertainment Weekly received a statement from her husband's representative:
"We will always remember our dear Arleen for her immense generosity of spirit. Talented, yes, and dogged, too, as evidenced by her tenacious, decades-long fight with a terrible disease. But more than that, she was a loving presence in the lives of her two boys, Eli and Owen; her mother, Joyce; her brothers, Robert and Arthur; and the countless other children, old and young, whom she took under her beautiful wing over the years."

Angel Wars OC
So I've been watching an old cartoon called Angel Wars and I'm impressed! So I decided to try my hand at making OCs!
Name: Gabriella
Class: Powers

Color: White w/ silver & dark grey armor
Height: 5'9
Appearance: Gabriella is a beautiful woman with a medium brown skin tone, dark brown eyes, and white hair in braids. In her disguised form she wears a black maxi dress decorated with white ribbons, gloves, and a matching hat. Her hair is also styled differently. Her angel form is silver & dark gray armor with white glow lines and wings.
Powers and Abilities: Aside from flight and super strength, Gabriella also possesses the ability to control light, as well as disguising herself as a human. She is shown to be a skilled archer with her bow.
Weaknesses: Gabriella seems to weaken in the presence of demons. She also rarely uses her powers in disguise so she doesn't risk blowing her cover. In terms of emotional weaknesses she can be outputting at times, & her snootiness often landing her into trouble.
Story:
Gabriella, or Ella as she was called by humans, was a snooty model who looked down on others. Being the right-hand woman of Vex she seemed to enjoy going along with her schemes. However there was more to Gabriella than let on: she was actually spying on Vex! She didn't want Eli and Kira to blow her cover, nor did she want the two apprentices in danger. In the climax of the episode 'Ella' revealed herself as the archangel Gabriella and helped Eli and Kira stop the demons.
In episode 2, Gabriella is sent to rescue Swift and takes him back to the Seven for recovery. She talks to Eli and Kira about Morg. Later after learning of Arianna's kidnapping she and the rest of the angels prepare to rescue her. Before Michael takes off she asks if she could come with him but is turned down. She tells Michael to be careful and as he leaves she contemplates her past with Morg.
In episode 3, Eli asks Gabriella about Morg. Knowing of Eli's eagerness she tells him that Morg allowed his jealousy and sadness to control him, then talks to Eli about his own desires of wanting to be a Guardian. Eli admits that he's afraid of being seen as deadweight and wants to contribute any way he can. In Morg's lair Gabriella is helping to ward off the mutated demon when she gets chased by Viral Swarmers. She manages to hold them off long enough. Michael gives the order to shoot the pillars. As the angels escape, Gabriella looks on in horror realizing Michael is still inside.
Back on the Seven, a grieving Team listens to Gabriella giving an eulogy when Michael shows up unharmed. Overcome with emotion Gabriella embraces him. Michael anoints Arianna as the new keeper of the Foundation Stone as Gabriella proudly watches.
Personality: Gabriella is an eccentric woman with a knack for adventure and a passion for all things Earthly. While not a conventional angel, she is staunchly loyal to God. She does feel compassion for demons, seeing how some of them can be reformed (like Q) but knows a good many of them are unrepentant and must be stopped. Gabriella enjoys walking among humans as she wants to experience their development first hand. It also gives her the ability to watch over humans on a more intimate level as well as keeping watch on demons from ground level. Gabriella has a flair for the dramatic, and can sometimes be distracted by petty things. She's also somewhat vain and snooty, and such can be blinded by the smaller things in life.
Weapon: Her main weapon is "Melinoe" a bow and arrow set than can stun humans, and kill even the fiercest demons. It is gray and silver and can fire white bolts of spirit energy.
Transport: Gabriella prefers Airboard (a type of wingboard but longer)
Trivia!
Gabriella is based on the archangel Gabriel. Most depictions have him as a guy but in this case: genderbend
Gabriella is meant to represent the moon to Michael's sun
Her voice actress would be Angela Bassett or Roz Ryan
Gabriella was created partly to have more girls on the team but also to show that the things thay may look scary or intimidating at first can actually be very helpful (basically don't judge a book by its cover)
Originally Gabriella trained Arianna and considers her one of her best students. She wishes Arianna could learn to have fun tho
Her and Michael are married; I'm sorry but i love the badass odd couple trope who work through trials than breaking up for convenient drama

Devotional Hours Within the Bible

The Death of Elisha (2 Kings 13:14-25)
The story of Elisha has a fine charm about it. It contrasts with the story of Elijah. The men widely differed in their personal character, and the manner of their work differed quite as widely. We come now to the close of Elisha's ministry. The most useful life must come to an end. It is interesting while we stand beside this old prophet's deathbed, to think of all that he had been to the country in which he lived. We saw him first as a young farmer, plowing in the fields one day, when suddenly behind him came the prophet Elijah in shaggy garments and threw over his shoulders a sheepskin cloak. Thus the young farmer was called to the ministry, as we would say.
From that time on, his life was given up to God and God's service - for a while as the attendant and helper of Elijah - and then as the great prophet of Israel. He was a man of gentle mood and kindly spirit. His ministry was full of blessings. We have but a few incidents of it recorded - but these show us the spirit of the man. The friend of the poor and the oppressed, he was also the counselor and helper of kings.
There is no time when a man's life and work can be seen quite so truly - as from amid the shadows of his last hours. Then prejudices give way to honest appreciation, enmity dissolves in kindly sentiment, and criticism is changed to ungrudged commendation. We should live so that when the end of our life comes - the world may speak approvingly of us. In order to do this - we must live faithfully along the years - unselfishly, purely, thoughtfully.
The incident in one of Elisha's last days, recorded in our passage, is peculiarly interesting. The king came down to see the old minister. Joash knew well the value of the counsel of the old prophet. He was now in much trouble with enemies who were pressing upon him. He needed Elisha's wisdom. Perhaps this was why he came, rather than merely to pay tribute at the deathbed of the godly man. The prophet could not come to him any more - and the king came to him with his questions, his perplexities, his anxieties, to get advice. It is a great thing to be set apart as a counselor and friend, one to whom others may come with their needs, their sorrows, their sins, and their troubles.
The king's tribute to the prophet was very beautiful. He spoke of him as his father, and indeed Elisha had been a father to him. He was an affectionate man and, no doubt, had shown all of a father's interest in the king. He spoke of him also as "the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof." This was a tribute to the value of Elisha as a defender of the nation. It did not mean that the prophet had been a leader of victorious armies, for he never was so employed - he had not been a soldier - but that his wisdom, counsel, and love had been to the king of even greater value - than his armies had been. Besides, the prophet's power with God - had brought divine help to the nation in time of war. Godly men are always a blessing to a community and to a country. Indeed, the world does not know the value of the saints who live in it, ofttimes neglected, overlooked, unrecognized, and yet the real deliverers and defenders of the people.
Elisha improved the occasion of the king's coming to see him, to say some earnest words to him. He wished to teach him a lesson which might influence his course as a king. It was an ancient custom to throw a spear or shoot an arrow into a country which an army was about to invade. Thus it is said that Alexander the Great, arriving on the coasts of Iona, threw a spear into the country of the Persians which lay before him. This was a formal declaration of war against Persia. Marcus Aurelius, when leaving Rome to go on one of his campaigns, performed a final sacrifice, and then, dipping a spear point into the blood of the sacrifice, he hurled it in the direction of the enemy.
This was in token of the war he was about to begin. That this custom prevailed at the time of Elisha and the kings of Israel, this incident of the arrows would seem to indicate. The king was bidden to draw the bow with his own hand. This showed that he was to wage the war. The battle was to be fought by him. The prophet then put his hand upon the king's. This signified that the Lord, whose representative Elisha was - would fight with the king in the battle against his enemies.
We are beset with enemies. Whatever we may say about the barbarity of war, there is no question but that every Christian is called to be a soldier and must fight even until death. Every blessing has to be won in contest. This incident has its lesson for us in our spiritual warfare. We should cast the arrow of God toward every enemy that stands before us - there should be no peace made with sin, no truce even with wickedness. Our own hand must be upon the bow, for we must fight our own battles. Even God will not fight for us while we lie supinely at our ease. He does not fight for us - but He will fight with us. We are bidden to be strong in the Lord. We are assured that God will bruise Satan under our feet. While the Lord does the bruising, it must be under our tread.
The Lord wants strenuousness and thoroughness in our warfare against spiritual enemies. The prophet taught his lesson in dramatic way.
He bade the king to open the window eastward, toward Syria, and to shoot. "The Lord's arrow of victory," said the prophet. Then he bade the king gather up his arrows and smite upon the ground. The king obeyed - but smote only three times. Elisha was angry and chided the king with his lack of earnestness and enthusiasm. The war against the Syrians was not to be a partial one - but should be waged until the victory was complete and the enemies were entirely subdued. This was God's plan for the war, which Joash was commanded to begin. This was what God meant him to do.
The lesson is also for us. We should not fight any spiritual battle languidly. We should never make a compromise with sin in any form. We should smite our enemies until they are consumed. The trouble in the wars of God's people in Canaan, was that they did not utterly exterminate their enemies. They left little handfuls of them here and there, parts of tribes and families, sometimes making alliances with them. The result was that these enemies became the plague of God's people in after days. We must do thorough work in our battle with temptation and sin!
"You should have smitten five or six times," said the prophet. The incident of the arrows, was not a mere bit of play. Without knowing it, the king was being tested. The prophet's anger was not unreasonable. The test had not been an arbitrary one. By the way the king smote with the arrows - he showed the kind of man he was. He smote indolently, carelessly, only three times. He showed no enthusiasm, no energy. His act was the tell-tale of his character. He did everything in the same way: half-heartedly, and not thoroughly. If he had smitten with all his might and persistently, he would have shown himself to be a man of unconquerable spirit, doing his work with energy. As it was, he had proved himself to be unequal to the responsibility laid upon him. Instead of smiting the Syrians until he had consumed them - he would gain only three slight victories over them and then let them go.
We are interested in this because it teaches us important lessons. Without being conscious of it - we are always revealing our character by little things in our conduct and behavior. Even in his play, a child shows the quality of his spirit and tells whether he is going to be a man of persistence and courage - or indolent, easily satisfied, half-hearted. Wellington said the battle of Waterloo was won at Eton. He meant that in the games and plays of his school days - he had learned the secret of the power which made him a general. Children cannot be too careful in forming their early habits. These habits will almost certainly control the whole life.

We've got the cat/bird couple undercut! :D
Che'nya is a bit of an ass, really, but Elyon's pleasantly surprised that Che'nya isn't quite as bad as the boys in Night Raven, he may tease her and try to scare her from time to time? But the moment anyone tries to harm her, he'll defend her and he will go out of his way to help her, even if he's vague about it. He's always looking out for her, in his own ways.
Cheshire cats and Spirits have incredibly strong innate magical powers - given that, he can and does help Elyon when he can with her control issues, strongly believing she isn't improving because of her fear of her magic, but not wanting to address it to her. The one reassurance with him, though, is that given his own abilities, he'd be able to handle some of her power ( not all though. She's too strong for him to survive full power. )
He sneaks her tarts from the Heartslabyul unbirthdays when he comes to Ignihyde to spend time with her, he claims that it's like they're married and he's coming home to his "beautiful darling wife" which always gets him hit, but he never fails to say it. He also invites her over to RSA, often, allowing her to sit through his dorm's tea parties.
"According to the text you gave me about the cat that made your species possible, it can remove it's limbs and put them back on." "Mmmhm?" "Can you...can you do that?" "Wouldn't you like to know?" She would.
Weirdly enough, he can sense her presence, and can tell when she's around- he has high spiritual awareness, which means he can tell when half spirits are there too. He's always excited to sense her and the people around him notice him perk up before he goes to see her.
He's into PDA, he's grossly affectionate: Ely's horrified by both things.
"Will mew marry me?" "...NO?" "But think about the benefits." "What benefits?!" "It'd be funny."
Steals her books and tools to help her with magic, but he's generally not too hands on with her learning process- he thinks if he's to "demonstrate" that she'd lose the confidence to try given his abilities.
He's often invisible, leaning against her when he visits. He's rarely quiet during this but when he is, there's a nice moment between them, until one of them tries to talk again.
They're both neutral morality wise. They often find themselves agreeing with each other when it comes to things like that- yes, if someone hits you, they deserve what's coming. No, don't kidnap people-
