Alyx wasn't alone.

And she likely didn't leave.

Here me out: The first thing we learn about Alyx is she feels loneliness upon returning from the EverAfter. However, up until this point, she's been described as fairly estranged from everyone. No-one mentions her by name, humans are pretty hated by those who know what humans are.

So, why is she lonely?

Because Alyx didn't fall alone. She fell with someone else.

This person is the likely culprit, seeing as in the beginning we see two dashes across the sky.

Considering a good dose of RWBY fairytales feature Ozma in some capacity, people making stories based on their own adventures isn't too far-fetched.

I'm thinking they both entered, but only one was able to leave. Maybe one person had to stay behind, maybe one of them died. Nonetheless, they wrote the story by erasing the second person or merging their interactions into one person.

How likely is it that Alyx had to give up both her happiest and saddest memory? Doesn't it make more sense if only one of them had to give up their happiest, and the other, their saddest?

We've already seen some revision. The Red King died! Likely killed by a human! We don't know for sure that was Alyx – it wasn't in her story. But how much can we trust her narrative, if there's possibly some heavy revisionism going on?

Listen to the Curious Cat. When Ruby says they're humans, they answer: "You're not nearly as interesting as the others I've met." That's otherS. Plural. Could be referring to Neo, Jaune, or maybe there's a whole village! But equally likely Alyx wasn't prancing around alone.

There's even more evidence in the song, Inside. During the instrumental break, I posit we get a conversation between Alyx and the mysterious companion:

"Okay, I'm almost certain that last time WE went to the left." "So, no way, WE should not turn back, WE need to go in that direction."

That only begs the question: why were they erased from the narrative?

Ruby comes out as nonbinary and her friends have a little trouble adjusting. After one warning too many the only thing Cardin will be adjusting for a while is his Full Body Traction.

Ruby let out a heavy sigh as she listened to Weiss and Nora fumble over their pronouns. Again. It had been weeks since she  came out to their friends, weeks of listening to them correct themselves over and over with how they talked about them, and yet, it still seemed to be slow progress for everything to be right. “She/they was right the first time.” 

Weiss paused for a moment. “But… wasnt it they/them before?” 

“No, just she/they.” Ruby went back to their notes to study. “We’ve been over this over the last few weeks. I figured you’d have this figured out by now.” 

“You dont realize how hard it is for me to keep this straight for you!” 

It shouldnt be that tough, Ruby thought to themself as she held their tongue. “Its not like its that hard.” 

Weiss frowned at her. “You try keeping things straight-” 

“She’s right,” Nora interrupted. “We’ve known long enough by now, we should have this down for her… them…” 

Ruby closed their notebook and slowly got up. “I think I’m going to go take a walk.” 

“Wait, we’re supposed to study.” Weiss put a hand to Ruby’s shoulder, stopped, and pulled away. “But… we can do  that later…” 

“I’ll make sure to be back to study,” Ruby said as she walked off. 

Nora shook her head. “You really fumbled that one, didnt you?” 

“Its not my fault… mostly.” Weiss sighed and let out a groan as she leaned on the desk. “Okay, maybe it is my fault. I’ve known her for years as a she/her and then she sprang all of this up on us and has changed things around a bit… its hard for me to keep up.” 

“We all need to work on it. Even Jaune and Pyrrha mess up a lot more than usual with it. I’m surprised that Ruby’s willing to keep putting up with us.” 

“If you ask me, I think she should be sent away to another school if she’s going to act like this.”

Weiss frowned and turned around to see Cardin behind her, grinning at his words. “What did you say?” 

Cardin leaned against the table and smirked. “I think that little kid of a leader you have should transfer schools if she’s going to act like this. Everyone knows you’re either a he/him or she/her. And from the looks of it, she’s just a she/her. Though, she could still be a guy posing as a girl-” 

“Do not speak about them like that!” Weiss yelled as she created a glyph and slammed Cardin to the wall. Her eyes narrowed as she glared at him, fingers out as she held the glyph. “She’s my teammate and I will NOT have you talk about them like they're an animal!” 

Nora stood up with a grin as she cracked a couple knuckles. “You dont think she’d mind if we broke a few bones, right?” 

Weiss shook her head and took a few steps back. “I think they’ll be okay with it. After all, it is in self defense.”

“What the hell happened?” Ruby asked as she made her way into Ozpin’s office. She paused when she realized what she had said and cleared her throat. “I-I uh… I mean… what did you do?” 

Ozpin smiled and motioned for Ruby to sit down next to Weiss and Nora. “It looks like Miss Schnee and Miss Valkyrie sent Mister Winchester to the infirmary out of self defense. Something about a few harsh words and threats that were directed to them.” 

Weiss slowly nodded and twiddled her thumbs a bit. “And… he said a few things about you that I couldnt let slide.” 

“So… we made sure he wouldnt act on anything,” Nora said, looking down at the ground as well. 

Ruby sighed and pinched the bridge of their nose. “You know I can handle this, right?” 

Weiss nodded again. “Cant I defend my partner?” 

“Please let me handle it next time.” Ruby looked over to Ozpin and smiled nervously. “They’re not going to get expelled for this, are they?” 

“Normally there would be some sort of punishment for causing issues like this,” Ozpin said as he glanced at the notes. “Though, considering the situation, I can let it slide for both of them. If something like this happens again, I might not be able to let it slide for Miss Valkyrie, but I’m sure you can keep Miss Schnee out of trouble with the rest of your team.” 

Ruby relaxed a bit. “I can. Thank you Professor.” 

Ozpin nodded and motioned them off. “Of course, Mx. Rose.” 

Ruby glared at Weiss, then pulled her into a hug with a soft smile on her face. “Please dont do anything that stupid again. I’d expect this from Yang or Blake.” 

Weiss nodded and slowly walked with Ruby. “I wanted to make things right between us. But I promise, I’ll let you handle this from now on.”

Here are more Mount Rageon OCs I made. The siblings of the enby majesty of Mount Rageous, Zircon and Cashmere’s twin interns, Glitz and Glam.

Quartzine and Varnish - This power couple is full of love and compassion. Quartzine is the second child among the siblings and she is known as the heart of the family. She is always the kindest soul among the other Mount Rageons and generous to anyone she helps. Zircon is also very close to Quartzine as they grew up and she would teach them manners and how to treat others as they wanted to be treated. When she went on to marry a philanthropist named Varnish, her family was so sad that she had to leave the nest while doing her duties as a prefect in the region of Mount Rageous but they were happy for her as well. Quartzine and Varnish were known for her unconventional approach in charity and resource aids that they try to reach out to the poor and the rural areas of the region she oversees and they had Cerise but they can send letters and visit the capital to be with the rest of the family. She was able to help everybody in need but fate struck Zircon and the royal family when she and Varnish contacted an incurable illness that took their lives, leaving Cerise orphaned and raised by Zircon, who raised her to be a well-rounded Rageon she came to be. Quartzine and Varnish may be gone but their legacy lived on within her.

Ruby - The second sister/third child and the prefect of another region in Mount Rageous. Ruby is known for her love for nature that she could be seen planting flowers and trees or landscaping gardens in the royal palace or her estate so she oversees the suburb region where Velvet and Veneer used to live. Like her brothers, Ruby is also very close to Quartzine when she was alive. Despite the loss, Ruby and her brothers continued the legacy that she left by improving the lives of many Rageons by setting up charities and other centers, making sure they have healthy lifestyles and they are safe from dangers. Ruby is married to Malachite and had Sapphire, Dior and Hermes.

Alexandrite and Agate - The younger twin brothers of Zircon, Quartzine and Ruby. Though they oversee separate regions in Mount Rageous, they were very close to each other as they are both close to their late sister, Quartzine. Alexandrite is known for his military skills while Agate is a talented sportsman. Alexandrite tends to take his job seriously and oversees the safety of Mount Rageous while Agate is friendly and charming that he had the most suitors among the two. Alexandrite is married to Lapis and had a son named Jasper while Agate married Pearl and had a daughter named Aqua and a son named Marine.

Glitz and Glam - Glitzelda a.k.a Glitz and Glamour a.k.a Glam are the twin children of a pair of Mount Rageons who were helped by Quartzine and Varnish before and were grateful to the royal family for improving their lives. In gratitude to the royals, Glitz and Glam eyed the position of being Cashmere’s interns that they worked hard to achieve it and passed the interview with flying colors. Glitz helps Cashmere with choosing which pattern and colors to match which outfit while Glam would take pictures of the models as a fashion photographer. They were more grateful to the trolls because they’re the ones who saved Cerise as well.

Bite Marks: Time Skips and Pack Politics

Due to life happening, it's been several weeks (maybe more than a month?) since we played Bite Marks. (Currently we alternate with me running Bite Marks and Thomas running Nahual!)

I was nervous about running the game and resetting the momentum. Josh suggested we catch up and figure out what to do next. I think a more relaxed GM than me would have just spent a shorter session of chatting, and starting up again a couple of weeks later. But I'm not that kind of GM!

In case it's helpful for folks here's what I did to get back into the groove!

I started with a brief summary of the most important bits from the last session (the pack had interrupted a ritual at an abandoned supermarket, Ruby the enby lesbian core runaway Alpha and Cake the himboest himbo human turned ritual sacrifice were the key characters involved, etc)

I suggested a time skip. Mostly because I find that if players have spent a long time away from the game, it can be hard for them to re-tune to their characters. We talked through things and felt a few weeks felt good, so we could center an important plot point (make sure the pack is fully healed up, new pack members have had some time to feel out the tensions, and everyone now has to do what they can to set up for a tense political meeting involving several factions)

From here I went around the table and asked set-up questions for the meeting. We felt out if we needed to just talk through decision points or play out the scene. This included questions like, "Now that Cake (yes, the NPC's name is Cake, long story) is irrevocably involved with what's happening with the werewolves, are you going to tell him everything?" and "What are you going to do to ensure the meeting goes well, despite the ongoing tension between the Kastila packs and Stray Dog packs?"

I then jumped into the big scene itself, taking place at one of the Churches nearby. Because we all spent time building up the moment together and preparing for it, we could all feel the stakes involved and play to find out what happens next.

Right before that jump, folks pointed out that I forgot about Sherri's character having the rest of her turn to prep for the meeting, after Fidel the Alpha told her to take care of things. But we decided Sherri could instead pull at that scene whenever she wanted, as a flashback, during the meeting itself. (Which ended up being very cool actually! Note to self: use flashbacks more often.)

I place a lot of pressure on myself as a GM to facilitate a good session with an even momentum all throughout. (this doesn't include prep, prep and I just don't get along, hah!) But I'm glad my players reminded me that we're here to collaborate on the game together, and I appreciate them playing alongside me to set things up. It ended up feeling really satisfying!

TTRPGs are a skill based hobby, but it's also a social activity and we're all here to support each other and have a good time!

J'mon Sa Ord is the emperor of Marquet, initially described as,

Blake seems to be everyones first choice for an enby character out of team RWBY and I get it because she's definitely the most masculine (in early rwby at least) but tbh Ruby has always struck me as the type to just... not care about gender or anything? Like she's fine w being seen as anything, she just wear skirts cause she thinks they're cool not cause they're a girl thing.

it's definitely something that follows like, the "trope" enby people with pick out of a group with choosing blake but honestly, yeah! enby ruby rocks! that's why she gravitates to blake initially, we can sense each other lmao.

Obsidian: JMV Nightmare. evil bastard. He has lightning magic in addition to tentacles, which I myself forget about constantly.

Jade: JMV Dream. Heavy Stockholm syndrome. Green bean. His soul is half positivity and half corruption.

Koroit: JMV Error. The zappy hands lady. The only one even kind of willing to work for Obsidian’s bitchass. Amnesiac, and one of the strongest of the team.

Zircon: JMV Cross. Stoic and aloof. A widowed father whose child is missing. Obsidian claims she’s still alive, which is the only reason Zircon hasn’t tried to fight back.

Paraiba: JMV Dust. Chatty girl who can see souls, which is unusual for non-spirits/guardians. Working for Obsidian, because her other option is dying. Obsidian killed her best friend/sibling (all the info about Ruby seems to be missing, so I don’t remember for sure. But Ruby is supposed to be her Papyrus, so…probably sibling?).

Silver: JMV Killer. Mute, uses sign language. Besties with Paraiba; they’re inseparable. And like Paraiba, Silver’s alternative to working for Obsidian is being killed. She/they enby. Very cool, they are

Jasper: JMV Horror. Not a cannibal. The manor’s maid and cook. The only one aside from Obsidian who has keys for the dungeon/cell block in the basement. He’s a sweetheart tbh; very different from canon OG Horror.

Mercury: JMV Science Sans! The doctor. Very very good doctor, too. He’s very good at manipulating the natural magic in people’s bodies to speed up healing. He’s the reason Obsidian can’t make Jade a full corrupt.

Lazuli (usually just ‘Zuli’): JMV Swap Sans. Trans man, stuck in a cell in the basement. He is not having a good time. He is in fact having the worst time. He doesn’t even get pants.

DINTIS:

Jet: DINTIS Nightmare. Even in-universe ‘Jet’ is only a nickname; his real name is still Nightmare. Suave fucker. Evil bastard. …Not quite as evil as Obsidian though. Very, very attached to Dark.

Dark: DINTIS Dream. Ball of anxiety most of the time. Despite Jet’s attempts to get Dark to be more selfish and less of a do-gooder, he’s still got a very strong moral compass. Also needs to get away from Jet but he’s too busy being glad they’re ‘friends’ again.

Note: Jade and Obsidian aren’t related. Neither are Jet and Dark.
