Not to be corny, but I love storylines that allow characters to reclaim their humanity.
Anne Boonchuy turning down God status for the chance to be a kid.
Tumblr media
Byleth’s heart beating for the first time after regaining their individuality.
Tumblr media
Mirabel Madrigal being her family’s real gift.
Tumblr media
Luz Noceda overcoming difficulties and revolutionising the use of magic simply by thinking out of the box.
Tumblr media
Anna of Arendelle being just as powerful as her sister, in her own way.
Tumblr media
And, my personal favourite — and one that is cruelly underappreciated if you ask me — Melody playing a key role in taking down Morgana specifically because she has legs, the very thing she loathed about her human heritage.
Tumblr media
We hear so much about humanity being a plague that we forget it is also synonymous with growth, redemption, creativity and love. And that’s magic enough for me. 💖

Finally got around to watching Encanto, and I had no idea a Disney movie could be this good. Suffice to say it has made it onto the good list.
Got this screenshot randomly while watching it, and haven't stopped laughing since.

Holiiii , Puedo pedir algo de Juli× Fem reader en donde Juli y r están en la escuela y no lo se *cof* Juli empieza a tocar a reader de maneras indecentes *cof* plisssss 🌻🦋
Here it is, hope you like it
Not here (Julieta x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
"Get your hand out of there" you said, trying not to turn your head.
You knew that if you did, the brunette would wear those damn big teary eyes that always melted your heart and made you fall for her whims. And you were NOT going to fall this time.
"From where? Here?"
You gasped and bit your lip as Julieta's fingers moved further down your stomach to holy ground. You tried to push her away, but she was strong, stronger than people gave her credit for, and she easily pressed you back against the bookshelf.
"Julieta" you hissed "We're in the bloody school library. Get. Your. Hand. Out. Of. There." you whispered
"But I'm happy here" she told you, kissing your neck "Besides, you've been ignoring me all day"
"Yes, because I'm upset with you" you reminded her in a low voice, trying not to moan
"I said I was sorry"
"And I said that wasn't enough" you scolded her "you forgot my birthday. I canceled everyone's plans because I wanted to spend the day with you and didn’t show up. I could have celebrated with my family and spent the next day with you, but no, you didn't tell me you were busy and I spent my birthday alone because of you"
Julieta sighed and left her games for a moment to simply hug you from behind and press her head against your back. She knew you were right. She had had every intention of going with you, but her mother had come to ask her for a last-minute banquet for one of her friends and she, as usual, hadn't been brave enough to say no.
It took her several cold glances and a cruel silence on your part to realize her mistake and she had tried in every way to patch things up between you. Which would be easier if you stopped running from her.
"I'm really, really, really sorry" she told you "And I know I can't turn back time to fix it, but let me make it up to you. I can't give you another birthday, but I can still give you your present"
The brunette resumed her previous movements, smiling a little when she felt you press against her. You knew she meant it, you had seen the pain in her eyes and her voice was heavy with guilt. Besides, a week was the most you could ignore her, you had always been weak for her.
You carefully turned in her arms so you could look into her eyes and though you tried to fight it, a smile escaped you as she pouted adorably.
"You're lucky I love you" you whispered
"I know I am"
"You better make my gift worth it"
"I'll try"
She leaned over you to kiss you deeply and you had to wrap your fingers around her wrist to keep her hand from going any further up your thigh.
"But not here" you said, finally separating from her "I'll see you after class"
Julieta watched you as you left the library, biting her lower lip as she watched you from behind and making a mental note to let Pepa know that she would have to take care of lunch and maybe dinner. Because she wasn't going to let you down this time.

Bruno: But the vision was different. It...it would change and there was no one answer, no clear fate. Like your future was undecided.
Isn't that strange? Because Bruno has the ability to see the future. To help focus and cope with the taxing nature of his power and your fate is sealed when your prophecy is read by Bruno. Meaning is up to Mirabel to break the house or not.
Tumblr media
After learning the source of the miracle dying and trying to tell Abuela how to fix it, Abuela quickly lashes out at Mirabel for "hurting the family" because she didn't get a gift, which significantly hurts Mirabel. And because Mirabel hurts, Casita starts to demolish.
In Wiki said: Heartbroken by her failure to save the miracle and supposedly being the cause, Mirabel runs away in shame, while the whole family tries to find her.
Because Mirabel's heartbroken, Casita and Encanto are gone.
That's why Mirabel's future was undecided.
That's why Mirabel's the miracle or Encanto or new Encanto. It's up to her feeling.
Tumblr media
When it came time for Mirabel's ceremony, she reached for her door and touched the doorknob, instead of getting a magical gift and opening the way to her new room like her sisters and cousins, Mirabel didn't get a gift and the door disappeared. Alma starts to be fearful of the family's magic. Notice that the candle is flickering means Mirabel actually got a gif in Encanto itself that's why the door disappeared, unlike any Madrigals. (Casita gave a gif to Mirabel as Encanto. This explains why Mirabel does have a stronger affinity with the Casita, she communicates with the Casita like it is a real person, and Casita responds to her prompts and helps with her daily routine! After all, Encanto and Casita are the same or one and the same.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you take notice of these 2 cutscenes, I did write in Mirabel, Love also means wishing. and said, "Mirabel is the miracle not because of her magic or gif but because of her love like Alma's husband, Abuelo Pedro's love for everyone to be happy even Alma."
In Wiki said: This new miracle is born from Mirabel's love for her family. To reflect this, the colour of the magic is different from what it was previously. When the candle held the magic, its power was golden. Mirabel's new magic is rainbow-coloured.
Having witnessed Pedro's death, Alma was heartbroken and unable to run when the conquistadors closed in on her. In her despair and pain, Alma prayed for a miracle and was immediately granted one. Magic was born from Alma's candle, and the magic created the Encanto where Alma and the rest of the citizens who escaped with her could live in peace. That magic of Encanto came from Abuelo Pedro's love. That means that when Mirabel adds the doorknob to "her new door" after Alma asks the same question to her that she did back when she was five, a new source of magic is born that brings Casita back to life and returns the gifts of the Madrigals.
Mirabel's gif is the miracle or Encanto itself. Just like what I said in Mirabel, Love also means wishing. Mirabel needs to be normal. Normal people had something more than people had magic or gifts, normal people had bravery and were more enthusiastic than someone who has everything.

Why tf is LMM able to make me cry about three times OR more with everything he makes.
-Encanto (Isabella feeling like she needs to be perfect all of the time, Bruno still watching out for his family even when they find him to be a burden, Mirabel feeling like a waste of space, Luisa having so much pressure put onto her.)
-Hamilton (almost everything especially act 2; wait for it, Hurricane, Dear theodosia, world was wide enough, Quiet uptown, Laurens ajdhdhsg, Satisfied, Burn, Stay Alive Reprise, Best of Wives and Best of Women, Teach them how to say goodbye, Who lives Who dies Who Tells your Story, History has its Eyes on you, and even Elizas final breath at the end.)
-21 Chump Street (thoes entire 21 minutes of the musical where heartbreaking ok)
-In the heights (Breathe, Paciencia Y Fe. I don't know why but I relate to them so much dude.)
Like bro are you good??? Why

The importance of apologizing and why it isn't - An Encanto analysis.
Tumblr media
Today I watched Encanto again and something striked me: Mirabel said sorry to Isabela and it didn't improve their relationship but when Abuela apologized it did.
Why is that? What's the difference?
Honestly I thought the answer was obvious but with the number of people complaining that the family didn't apologize to Bruno and Mirabel apparently not.
When Mirabel apologized she had an idea in mind: saving the miracle. And she did because Isabela asked her to apologize for "ruining her life", which Mirabel didn't understand because she thought Isabela was only being dramatic. Then her "sorry" wasn't sincere at all.
Tumblr media
Finally their relationship improved because Mirabel insulted her while being completely honest with her. And when Isabela did the same in yelling the truth at her, that she never wanted to marry Mariano.
Tumblr media
On the other side when Abuela apologized she didn't have any idea in mind, only wishing to be forgiven though she obvious didn't really expect to. I mean, see how she doesn't look at Mirabel, how her head is low, in shame. She's sincere! Moreover, Mirabel is listening so their relationship improve.
Tumblr media
But it really improves because Abuela explains herself, admitting her mistakes, then Mirabel admits what Abuela did good, how she had an hard life but managed to give a home to her family.
In short the difference is the communication, being sincere with each other. It's not so important that in the french version Abuela don't says sorry.
Same with Bruno apologizing to Pepa. She didn't ask for it, he did it on his own because he felt he had to. Which isn't the case since he was obviously already forgiven only by coming back.
I mean look at their faces!!! Pepa is embarassed, Félix has a big smile almost as if he was enjoying the scene, while Bruno's is apologetic, begging to be forgiven.
Tumblr media
And when it's Julieta's turn she interrupts him with a face saying "eh! It's alright we're happy to have you, don't apologize". And it's exactly what she is saying!!! It's what means: "Eh we're just happy that you're here, okay?".
Pepa didn't want to be apologize to, neither did Julieta! All they wanted was their brother back and they got what they wanted.
One of the lessons of the movie: apologies aren't important, what is important is to understand each other and learn from our mistakes.

Is it just me (and my inability to read facial expressions), or is Mirabel not as... annoyed as you'd expect after Isabela hits her in the face with her hair? Like, up until this rewatch I'd just assumed, but looking closer, she's got more of a kicked puppy expression-- especially in the blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment immediately after Isa gives her "sisterly advice" and before she retorts. Her eyes also never leave Isa from the moment she appears, in contrast to Isa who barely looks at her.
OMG ANON YES I JUST CHECKED AND YOU'RE SO RIGHT WTF SHE LOOKS SO SAD???
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THIS FACE
Tumblr media
desperate baby. a puppy. my puppy my love my skrunkly. must protecc 😭😭😭 SHE LOOKS SO SAD. SO HEARTBROKEN AND HURT ;-;
Also yes! I noticed too! She's looking at her the whole time - even when the scene ends she runs into a wall BECAUSE she was looking at Isabela WHILE ISABELA DOESN'T TURN TO SEE HER ONCE. AHHHH. AHHHH THE ANGST DUDE I NKSDKNDSJJK FEJKFSNJFEVNJ 😭😭😭
(also dskjsdkjfskj Isabela's expressions are so funny in this scene like ?? world's most evil bimbo)
But yes the fact that Mirabel is looking at her while Isabela refuses to even turn around when she speaks to her is so painful but also so symbolic TT_TT
I think this just proves what I've been saying which is that indeed Mirabel LIKES Isabela. Or at least she holds her in high regard. She respects admires and appreciates her a lot. I'm sure she feels just as fondly of her as she does the rest of the family! Even if she's one of the family members that treats her the worst. bruh i'm gonna cry
also i'd love to know what she's looking at here like akdjnsaj

Request: Mirabel decides to run away and Bruno comes out the walls to go with her to "protect" her (we all know Mirabel is the fighter in this duo). They settle into a new village and are going by a new last name. The family doesn't realize she is gone for three whole days (say Antonio is busy getting used to his gift and helping the community).
Okay I am so sorry for taking a while to respond but this prompt took a while.
————
Meet The Diaz family!
————
Mirabel wiped the tears from her eyes. Abuela had implied not only that she was lying or imagining, but that she was drunk as well. Her mom tried to help.
She decided to write a letter for Antonio. She decided she’d leave it in his toy basket.
She didn’t have a choice, did she? She never stood a chance. “I’m sorry Casita. I just… I can’t stay here.” The tiles around her jingled as she and Casita packed her things.
Her sewing kit, two spare outfits, some fabric was folded neatly into a bag. In the bag, she added in some of her creations as well.
Casita helped her down to the kitchen where in her mochila, they gathered some extra arepas and one of their knives.
“Goodbye Casita.” She says as she walks out the door, unaware of a pair of eyes following her.
————
Mirabel had made it to the base of the mountain when she heard rustle of the leaves behind her.
“Hey! Mirabel! Wai-!” Her fist made contact as she swung around in fright. The person falling down in pain. “Holy-!!”
“I’m so sorry! I just there was the leaves and I don’t know you and I am so so sorry!” She cried out as she knelt beside him, pulling out one of the arepas she brought.
“It’s okay, I scared you.” He muffles out, holding his nose with one hand. He takes and eat the arepa. His nose healing and hand moving away.
No way. It’s her uncle.
“Bruno?”
—————————-
After a brief reacquainting, Mirabel finds her self with an extra set of hands as they make their way out of the Encanto. Bruno tells her why he left. Why he followed her as well.
She doesn’t know how to feel about it. There’s a vision with her on it. One that keeps changing. She sighs as she asks her Tío about his ratnovelas.
At least she won’t be alone.
————-
They make it out and it takes a while but they finally find another village. She sells a couple of the outfits she’s made and makes enough to get them a place to sleep for the night.
Her uncle gives the innkeeper a fake family name. Diaz, he says.
“Out here we’re not Madrigals anymore.” Bruno tells her as an explanation. The room is small and cramped but there’s a window, a bathroom, and a chair. He tells her to take the bed.
They make a plan to ration the arepas until they can get a steady income.
“Goodnight Mirabel.”
“… Night Tío.”
—————-
Bruno and her both set out to get jobs the next day.
Mirabel is able to sell more of her creations when she happens upon a seamster. The man compliments her work and asks who trained her.
She tells the truth. She’s taught herself and the man tells her to meet him tomorrow at his shop.
Tells her, he’s always got a spot for people with talent.
She’s happy when she tells her uncle and is surprised when he’s happy for her too.
He surprises her again with a present.
“I did a couple visions for people. And on my way back, well, uh…. You like making things right?” He says as he hands over some more fabric. “I know we need to save some money but it was cheap, I swear! And I just…” She hugs him and buries her face in his ruana. He tentatively hugs her back.
—————-
Antonio is exhausted. He didn’t realize the animals and villagers had so many disputes. And the past couple of days Abuela had him stay by her and Isabela.
Isabella and Mariano got engaged and Dolores seemed really sad. And even worse, he hasn’t been able to see Mirabel at all. And every meal time when he asks, everyone says she’s probably just sewing.
Which seemed weird since Mirabel always made sure the table was set and was present for every meal before.
He decided to play with some of the toys she made him when he found it. Reading through it, tears welled up. Mirabel had left.
Gripping the letter tightly, he sobbed as he ran to his mom.
—————-
As the days turned into weeks, Mirabel got a job as an apprentice seamstress. Bruno, however, was made to stop giving visions when she found out how much they hurt.
Lately, he’s been acting out his ratnovelas and writing them down. The rats all wear outfits she’s made and people have been adoring them.
“Welcom home sobrina!” Mirabel hears as she walks in. “Might not be as good as your mom’s but I made arepas!” Mirabel grins. This was so much better then at encanto.
“Sounds great, Tío!”

i recently watched encanto again, and i haven’t been able to get this out of my head since, so -
what if mirabel and bruno never forgave their family?
Tumblr media
once la casita has fallen, what’s done has been set into motion. there are no taking back the words that have been said, the actions that have been done.
the madrigals are searching the rubble desperately for mirabel, having last seen her in the heart of the wreckage before the dust flew.
casita does not respond to their pleas to bring her forth.
all they find of her is a patch of torn fabric from her skirt.
mirabel has gone down to the river she so often retrieved the fishing traps from with her sister, only now she was all alone. she sits on the bank and sobs, allows her sorrows and grief and sadness to escape in the form of ragged cries.
after some time, the sound of horse hooves upon the path lift her attention and she stands, thinking it to be one of her cousins or her tia come to search for her.
but instead the horse carries her tio bruno, his chest lifting and caving frantically for breath. he looks as worse for wear as she does; clothes torn, face covered in ash and grime, hands bloody from scrambling his way through the thin walls of the crumbling house.
he exclaims her name and rushes to greet her, holding her close as she cries into his chest.
he’d glimpsed her through the cracks as casita fell, terrified she had been lost and crushed beneath the falling foundations.
she explains to him everything alma said to her, and he confesses the blame and guilt she placed upon his shoulders when he was her age.
and suddenly, their sadness turns to rage.
they feel it together, like a tidal wave pulling them both under, because they are connected. connected in the way that their family constructed themselves - shackles placed around their ankles and tied to one another so that they could go nowhere.
but they could get somewhere together.
they both mount his ride and they disappear across the other side of the river, set on leaving encanto behind them.
the town that never wanted them, their siblings who blamed them, the very woman who had planted this seed from the very beginning.
they moved constantly, finding odd jobs to keep them going.
eventually bruno put his gift to a better use, and began charging people for a vision. mirabel stood behind him while he did his readings, a silent guard ready to shoo patrons away when he became so overwhelmed he slept for two or three days straight.
months went on, and the pair became known throughout columbia; the fortune teller and his young assistant.
people lined up in towns to see them, anxious to catch even a glimpse of the famous madrigal duo.
people called them gifts from god.
others, the ones who received bad visions, called them devil spawn.
there were nights in which bruno screamed and howled and wept into mirabel’s lap, their words taking him back to his childhood when each and every bad occurrence was credited to his visions.
but their bitterness, their hatred for what their family had done, what they had turned them into, kept them moving forward.
their colorful clothes turned to monochrome schemes, and they slowly erased any trace of their family from their appearances.
they were no longer part of the madrigal family; they were the madrigal duo, their own little family.
years passed.
it was a rainy day, one where fat drops poured like bullets from the heavens, when they returned to encanto.
at first, people didn’t recognize them.
this could not be bruno madrigal, once so shy and skittish and now brimming with pride and confidence.
this could not be mirabel madrigal, then fifteen and now seventeen, a cold stare to her gaze and her stance having widened to take up more room, demand more respect.
of course someone ran to tell the madrigal family they had returned.
the whole town was in an uproar as the rest of the family hurried down the hill to see their lost members.
mirabel’s parents cried her name, tried to rush in and capture her in a hug.
but she simply held up a hand to halt them.
bruno placed a hand on her shoulder and gazed at his sisters over the top of her head.
alma screeched at him, demanding an explanation as to why he had stolen mirabel away, disappeared for years without a word.
but mirabel, in that now monotonous voice of hers, tells her she went on her own accord.
says that alma told her exactly what she thought of her, and she decided she didn’t want to be part of a family that didn’t want her.
says there was one person who understood how she felt, because they had done the same thing to him.
bruno grips her shoulders and flashes the mortified family a cold, twisted smile he never seemed capable of before.
“you see, mama,” he says, “we may still be madrigals. but we are not going to play in your little family anymore.”

If I had a nickel for every time I got into a fandom in which the identity of a main character's uncle was a major plot point, I'd have three nickels. Which isn't a lot but is kind of weird.
Not to mention that if I had a nickel for every time the fandom had not one but two mysterious uncles important to the plot, the count would only go down to two. Which isn't a lot but is even weirder.

My thoughts on FFXVI - Full Game Spoilers
Ranking 7.5/10
As I only completed it a couple of hours ago some thoughts might change with time and if there are DLC's or other information after time has passed. My thoughts are also emotionally charged and sporadically disjointed but I will try to keep on point. Speaking of points I'm going to bullet point each thought to try and not ramble as I always do so I can get personal catharsis from writing my feelings out. So this is definitely also a release post because I need to get my feelings out.
Also has Encanto spoilers but I've pointed out where but just to add prior so it can be easily avoided.
The first thing I did after completing the game during the credits was check Google which of course took me to Reddit. This,
was the first post I saw and I've been reading and mulling over it since.
From that post and other comments I did feel some relief that Clive is alive. And for me and thankfully others that Joshua and Dion are alive.
I don't think Clive wrote the book, I think it was Joshua. Even though Tomes gave Clive his quill he also said that Joshua was also quite the historian or something like that. Now I could be misremembering but even so I don't think it's Clive who wrote it.
And speaking on that, I don't like seeing the far off future. I always feel sad when magic is gone because it's so important for this type of fantasy style. I get that it's powerful but the world looses it's spark for me. Like recently I watched Encanto with my friends. Avoid this next part of text if you don't want Encanto spoilers.
Encanto Spoilers start:
Like at the end I was so happy they all kept their magic. I mostly always dislike it when stories lose their magic because that's what made them special. That's what symbolised their strengths in a fancy and literally magical way.
Encanto Spoilers end.
I know it's Squares route to always say yadda yadda humans are magical without magic but they spend their whole damn games with magic as a core standard. I know 16 is different to an extent but it feels like overkill and almost making it too Earth-like. Like I myself am not a stable person so I need these stories to boost me up, so coming back down this way doesn't feel complete or good for me. I think it would have been better if maybe dominants wouldn't be possible anymore or just that simply the blight would stop from the aether being sucked from the land and that everyone would have the chance to use magic. Like magic wasn't the problem it was the abuse of magic so getting rid of it feels too drastic and even too easy. Like Ultima made humanity here, so they are magical beings. The flaw if any is that not all humans can use magic so ideally breaking the original crystal would restore balance to the planet. I'm sure the curse would still be present in a way of overuse but that's what happens to anything with overuse. If you exercise too much you're at risk of damaging your body from pushing too hard etc and as it's balanced now the blight would stop spreading and eventually the land would recover especially with the new survival techniques born from The Hideaway.
I get symbolism is present in all Final Fantasy games, but when it comes at a cost of clear closure it's a problem. I was finally feeling relieved that this game had clear intentions. Such as yes the people have sex lol. Yes they swear. Yes they bleed. But suddenly at the end we aren't given that? 15 really did a number on me and not just because of the ending it was a lot of issues I had so I was tentative with this but as I trust the XIV team and as I was going through the story I was starting to believe in a clear triumphant victory. But no it's just vague to be... I dunno why. Like after all the uncertainty in the game having a clear happy ending would have been so so good and appreciated. I don't feel the catharsis I needed and I expected. Even with the hope and logical thoughts that Clive and co are alive I don't feel closure and it really hurts so bad. And yes I do get heavily invested but that's just my way for many personal reasons but even so I've seen a lot of others feel the same way so that is something at least.
At least they didn't kill Torgal. However I wish he had more of a stronger role. He was our soul mate. I understand how he couldn't get on Bahamut's back but I dunno maybe he could have howled and restored Clive's health during a part of the fight, like how our friends voices cheered us on. And their first meeting was lackluster. Especially after we see how tireless Torgal was collecting Clive's things. There are a lot of jarring disconnects at times which sucks considering a lot of things are said to connect characters and events. A few lines here or there would go a long way.
Continuing on that thought, I was really expecting and then hoping for past scenes and gameplay of the brothers childhood but they had to just jam the knife in at the end. Like it just hurts, really hurts and I hate that. I was also expecting and hoping for politics but that all ends at Phoenix Gate. Like the disappointment when we get to the city of Sanbreque and the brothel only to not explore it but then move fast on rails away from it and never to step once in its city properly. Like that grand palace hello!? I was expecting some sort of masquerade stuff infiltration and seeing our mother there only she doesn't know it's us. But nope they just go off to Twinside but then we can't even explore there and then it gets flown up into the sky like? We're only stuck in the hideaway that we can't edit which would have been really cool and when we're not we're stuck in very similar landscapes outside which are pretty but it really makes the world feel small. Especially that the blight has already limited our exploration having the cities we have being taken away from us really sucks. And Barnabas! I was hoping he'd invite us for a grand dinner and during it we'd get drugged and hallucinate because he's aiding Ultima to easily take possession and then it'd switch to Joshua and we'd play as him going with Jill and Gav to infiltrate the castle and rescue Clive. Going further into my fantasy lol, imagine after recovery which would maybe take some time with Joshua reminding Clive of who he is with flashback game scenes, and maybe even after Clive comes back they end up recruiting Barnabas but I know that's definitely a stretch haha! The point is I felt we weren't given the full tour of the world and I know all Final Fantasy games are lineal but this was very on rails only stopping for side quests and with me personally running around to listen to updated voice commentary on what NPC's had to say which was cool but also distracting and long but I didn't mind especially at the time because I was enjoying figuring out the world.
Too many side characters. I really did like the lore account and information for each NPC big or small but at some point some characters really should have been one instead of two. Example Gaute and the woman next to him (I've forgotten her name and cba to look) who gives us appreciation points, should have been one person. It would also give more chances to have a stronger character we could get to know more and bond with.
Along with that was the bond and war table really necessary? I appreciated it at the time and I do still appreciate the effort but this energy could have been used for making the ending not unnecessarily vague or having all the characters voice lined and not being randomly non voiced. Like I thought my game had a bug before I realised it was doing that style for those parts but it was really confusing and not expected!
On reflection I don't think Metaia disappeared or died, I think it went to tell the moon the wish to be granted and will be back again. But if not I think it definitely went to tell the moon which also symbolises a power higher than what Ultima wanted us to believe. I think it also shows when Clive senses and partially sees his dad at his grave showing bonds and life beyond death which is extremely comforting and valid.
It would be great to learn on Leviathan properly. I know it was destroyed but perhaps there still in a defendant. Some have said it could be the baby in Edda or even Gav who is unaware. I think it's probably a whole other character we might meet in DLC however it'll be something to see how to manage that post world without magic or they do an alternative timeline or even go back in the past though that would also be sad because we know they are 'lost'.
I feel they killed off big characters too quickly which made the passing off. I knew Cid would die from his constant coughing blood and also because he's 'old'. Most characters die if they're old in these games or they are full side NPC's that half their character is being the old person. Also because he's too powerful of a character and they need Clive to take the reigns but it would have been really cool if Cid was still alive and we helped him recover, it would have been cool to have quests for him. Benedikta too, I feel like we didn't get enough of her. She drove a lot of the story well and then was cut out. I feel like they were inspired clearly by GoT but as it went on went back to final fantasy style which had a clash of styles hence the vague ending which most likely would have not been so stark if the full game was that style.
Oh and Jill. Along again with the wish that characters had more character Jill is one. I like Jill she is just above the line of being a basic boring pretty love interest. With Ice unfeeling it would have been great to have Clive melt her icy heart and in doing so she would cool his fiery anger. And I feel Clive didn't get angry enough. Like her whole story part was once again on rails, I feel like we got more emotion and character from Dory's side story because we got to read and somewhat experience this horror. We never one on one talk to Jill about our experiences and she hers to us. And on that I really thought we'd start the game from Clive being imprisoned and branded. We really missed out on a lot of lore building that really would have elevated the driving force of characters.
The bar was stupid and a waste of time. This would have been a great moment to be able to de-stress with the cast and get to know them more. Ben Starr Clive's voice said Clive was funny at least to him so I was expecting more funny and light hearted scenes but it's note like moments and it's not super funny or even cheeky just aha yeah. I wish we got the chance to learn about Clive. The whole game is about revenge to getting the choice to live and throughout that Clive is only that. What does he like to eat or not eat like Joshua and his carrots, does he like music, what does he want to do in life aside from this grand dream. We never get full bonding and comfort moments with the brothers, only a small part that ends in the space of a brief punch.
Our mother's death was disappointing. I think because the reunion was so quick and sudden. I was thinking she had more play in the story and also her bloodline thing makes no sense it's our dads bloodline not hers unless there's some unspoken fucked up GoTs shit going on lol. I was hoping when getting the eikons she'd realise that not only was we strong but far stronger than anyone and try to manipulate us to get a piece of our glory only to fall from grace from rejection just like she had rejected us all these years. Death of a character doesn't always have to be actual death but social death would be amazing. The disgraced Ana groveling to her son's would have been so so damn delicious. But naaa she just cuts her throat. As I said I was expecting and now wished for more political gameplay. Even giving us choices of how to approach a crystal would have been cool planning it, giving Vivian's map a really cool play. And having our Uncle help us with politics.
Like with Torgal I wish we got more chances of love with him and Ambrosia. They stayed loyal all this time and Clive doesn't even get the option to pet her.
I wish we got more clothes and not just us but the cast. We go to the desert in our leather clothes. The only person who ages is us and that's getting slightly more hairy lol like Jill looks the same. I thought the side quest for fabric would get her a new dress but nope.
I'm getting a bit fatigued now but I'll try to finish my thoughts. I gave this a 7.5/10 because of the ending. -2 for Clive and Joshua and 1.5 for Dion because although I want him alive I can understand if he did in fact die though the hope of him seeing with his flower and reuniting with Terrence and maybe even adopting the girl would be really comforting.
I think the only way I could fully be at peace is if DLC not only gave closure and a true happy ending but more loose ends tied up and a look to a fresh bright world not some future book with random people. After all the world isn't as important without the people in it and even more the people we know make it what it is. That's even what Clive said to Ultima that his bonds made him stronger, that because of love for others than himself he was able to beat him.
It's a shame, I was seriously contemplating getting platinum but now I don't want to even look at the screenshots I took and I want to delete them which I might later.
But yeah I do hope for clarity. Clive and Joshua and Dion deserve it. They deserve the world they fought for.
As for now I'm trying to recover, even if it was the ending I wanted and expected finishing a game is always bittersweet. I've been crying and felt shit so writing this helped a little to get it at least off my chest.
🗒️Notes: As usual there might be spelling and grammar mistakes. I might add more thoughts later. These are my thoughts and opinions which rely heavily on my strong emotions. I get extremely attached to games and things for personal reasons so my thoughts might come as even more personal because I take it too heart which is just my way I try to get past that but it's hard so I don't want to force myself. Anyway I'm nodding off now as I took meds for a headache lol so yeah. At least I don't have to worry about spoilers which was stressing me not stop whilst playing which made me anxious to complete it.
Also I wanted to make this short but as always it's long but yeah. I wonder if anyone read all this lol either way I got it out so I don't have to keep talking back and forth to myself as hard as I was. But if you did and even more so agree that means a lot because I'm a fragile person and I know I'm weird or I just don't manage things well so when I see people agree or I see others have my similar thoughts it helps. Anyway sleep now, I've been yapping for 2-3 hours.
New additions
I do like Clive and Jill together and how they were mostly portrayed. Same as most of the relationships but I just wanted more. I know they are busy with the plan and also have to be to defeat Ultima in time but they even said at the end Ultima would wait lol so totally could have time before then or before Clive was ready. I feel it was done well for a FF game and in general Japanese RPG games but the bar isn't very high so can't really compare. Anyway more talking moments would have been top.

Mirabel: I will never... be good enough for you... will I? No matter how hard I try....no matter how hard any of us try...
Mirabel: You're the one breaking our home!
Abuela Alma : Don't you ever...!
Mirabel: The miracle is dying because of you!
What I analysed in Relationships between Kohane Tsuyuri and Suzu Fujibayashi (Tsofph Season 1) Those who wish harm on others will wish harm to themselves just like Kohane's mother. This time Abuela Alma was different, she wish for this miracle to continue forever because this is a symbol of her husband, Abuelo Pedro and her happiness. Because in time in her past, Alma met a man named Pedro during a celebration for the Day of the Little Candles in their village, where they fell in love and eventually got married a short time
Abuela Alma: I was given a miracle... a second chance. And I was so afraid to lose it... that I lost sight of who our miracle was for...
Losing everything in the span of one night, Alma never had time to properly process her pain and mourn as she had to raise her infant children alone and lead the refugees from her village. The responsibility that was imposed on her as guardian of the miracle made her a hardened woman and since the day she lost her husband she has been afraid of losing her home and family again.
She was given a miracle also her wish but in the end that wish became to hurt herself. Mirabel didn't get a gift and the door disappeared. Alma, fearful for the family's magic, asked Bruno to look into the future to see what this meant, as no Madrigal child had ever been denied a gift before. However, Bruno would never tell Alma about what he saw and disappear without saying anything. Alma never knew why her son abandoned the family and blamed Mirabel for Bruno's disappearance and pushed her away. Fearful that Mirabel's lack of a gift meant the family had not proven themselves worthy of the miracle, Alma increased the family's efforts to serve the community. Although she meant well, Alma also inadvertently put too much pressure on her family, with some of her grandchildren growing up with some emotional trauma from her expectations.

"blamed Mirabel for Bruno's disappearance and pushed her away"
Go back to xxxholic story when Kohane's mother said
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So that means if Kohane lies to her mother, her mother won't get her any mercy like she feels revenge for her husband. Her mother will blame Kohane all eternally.
The same way for Abuela Alma as well. Because just Mirabel didn't get a gift and the door disappeared. In Abuela Alma's view, this candle is the symbol of her husband which means Mirabel rejects her husband's wish. On top of that Bruno left this family, which makes Abuela Alma blame Mirabel for Bruno's disappearance and pushed her away.
Tumblr media
"Her wish for the three of us to live happily ever"
"And I was so afraid to lose it... that I lost sight of who our miracle was for.."
Both Kohane's mother and Abuela Alma, They keep wishing for happiness to not disappear again but their heart was already hurt and had a fracture inside them that never heal. They thought they were strong enough to take care of themself and their family. In the end, they hurt their own family.

The same way for Mirabel as well. How many times does she need to wait for her chance? Until the destruction of Casita....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was because of this, that Alma was constantly looking outwards for a problem or even a threat to all she held dear, that she never thought to look inward until it was too late, which is when she finally realized, her family had been broken because of her, not Mirabel or Bruno, and why she never once considered that her well-intentioned actions were the problem. Casita knew and Casita gave Mirabel "The connection of family Broken Family Ties and family love bond" That's why Mirabel didn't get a gift. If she gets like Kohane, no matter how much Mirabel tries she will not save Abuela Alma who was broken just like Kohane can't save her mother. Mirabel needs to be normal. Normal people had something more than people had magic or gifts, normal people had bravely and were more enthusiastic than someone who has everything.
“Well, my little friend, I am not, because the truth is, gift or no gift, I am just as special as the rest of my family.”
The candle gave people happiness the happiness itself is a miracle that means "I am just as special as the rest of my family" Mirabel makes everyone happy and makes the bond of the family from broken. Mirabel is the miracle not because of her magic or gif but because of her love like Alma's husband, Abuelo Pedro's love for everyone to be happy even Alma.
Tumblr media
That's why Bruno said, "You're the real gif kid. Let us in."
This picture told us enough and with Mirabel's cloth with butterfly. You remember there was a butterfly that flew away when Alma met Pedro during a celebration for Day of the Little Candles for the first time.
Love also means wishing too. Just like Yuuko said, if you keep wishing, one day it will come true. Also the same as Cinderella when she sang "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" too.
"Have faith in your dreams and someday Your rainbow will come smiling through No matter how your heart is grieving If you keep on believing The dream that you wish will come true"
