Thinking about the canonization of Aioros (Lolo for friends) in the spinoffs.
(spoilers for most of the spinoffs under cut)
How the Sagittarius cloth is the bestest most special cloth that is used as a literal Deux Ex Machina to solve everyone's problems in the anime
How in Episode G he is fleshed out more as a character but he is always framed as "angelic" and "ethereal" even in they way he's dressed
Episode G Assassin follows this up by giving Evil Lolo fallen angel imagery. I think he's even compared to the antichrist at some point
(Satan looking mf)
I don't know enough about LC and Omega to make a point about them. I know that Seiya is Sagittarius in Omega so I assume that he'd get idolized about as much as his predecessor, and the only thing I know about Sissy the Lolo clone is that he's a lolicon (lolocon) which. Lol. Lmao even
In Dark Wing not only is Lolo the Sagittarius saint again (which makes me think that maybe the authors felt too intimidated to create a new Sagittarius e.e) he manages not only to *willpower his way out of nonexistence for a bit* but somehow allow the spirit of Athena prime to manifest into the DW timeline. Not to mention that he's literally OG Lolo who got isekaied there (lmao this sounds wild out of context) What's he supposed to be? God?
The biggest offender is the CGI series in which Lolo's ghost does shit that he definitely shouldn't be able to like manifesting himself in the form of a butterfly or appearing a mask out of thin air for Marin to use or show her the goddamn future (???) or even manifesting himself at all without the Sagittarius cloth as a conduit (which contradicts the lore 鈩笍), and makes him look more like a god than Athena herself (it feels like Marin is more Lolo's acolyte than Athena's wtf)
aw I saw a fan comic on pivix of Hyoga waking up in the middle of the night because he heard natassia crying and he comforted her till she went to sleep again. Hyoga is best dad.
Yeah, Legend of Sanctuary and KOTZ are not really spin-offs, but retellings/reimaginings of the classic series. I just said spin-off cause it's easier :P Maybe I should say non-canon? Anyway...
Naturally I'm including Hades Chapter in the classic series, even if it came much later. Next Dimension is also out since it's Kurumada's work.
Saint seiya has many spinoffs, Lost Canvas, Saintia Sho, Episode G, etc....and let's take a look at the styles of their authors!
1. Teshirogi Shiogi, author of The Lost Canvas
Teshirogi Shiogi's drawing has one major point that I like; She's good at making long lines. Although her gold saints may look similar to the one in the Original Kurumada's, her gold saints usually have longer hair...She can colour those armors nicely, using bold, bright colours...And for character design, she's capable of drawing both genders nicely...The only downside is that most of the gold saints, as I've mentioned before, are similar to Kurumada's.
For her story, she's pretty good at creating a sad yet heartwarming story...which we can see in The Lost Canvas. But she has a habit of killing of her characters, presumably because that's how she makes her tragic story so beautiful....
2. Chimaki Kuori, author of Saintia Sho
Chimaki has a beautiful style, where the males have a touch-up on their appearances. Yes, this is a shoujo (girls-manga), so that's probably why....One thing about Chimaki is that she usually uses a lot of pastel colours, which made the armor pretty shiny. And another thing is that, because the gold saints have different hair colour in the anime and manga, she combines both nicely. I do also appreciate how she transforms the original gold saint into the dazzling young men we see in Saintia Sho.
Her stories involve much of romance, as the characteristic of shoujo mangas. One very good proof of this is the story between Saga and Katya.
3. Megumu Okada
Okada's artwork can be easily identified among others. His characters usually have really complicated lines, for hair and armor. I REALLY can't believe how he managed to draw those intricate details on their armor! His characteristic is prominent muscles (ahem!), and big eyes...and finally, lots of glitter!
his stories involve a lot of mysterious characters, which some we don't expect! It may take a while for you to understand what's going on, but one thing is for sure when you're reading the G trilogy...you're in for a surprise!
Well, I guess that wraps up my first article...there are other two, Ueda from Dark Wing and Suda from Rerise of Poseidon, but as their stories haven't finished yet, so I should wait until they do so before making a part two of this!
Thanks for reading, and don't hesitate to leave a comment about your thoughts!
Starting to fall back into Saint Seiya, so I finally made a new icon. I know Kronos should have more darker colors, but I just really wanted to try bright purples
I鈥檓 not sure if Shura ever was able to get his own apartment in Assassin, but there must鈥檝e been a reason why he just didn鈥檛 stay with Aiolia and Yoshino >_>
I really appreciate the fact it was the first attempt at fleshing out the gold saints, on top of the neat worldbuilding. Despite it being the ugliest manga I've ever read IMO.
I decided to re-create/draw the first volume's cover art in my style!
