A/N: Hey guys!! I decided to make a one shot Christmas countdown to the song Twelve Days of Christmas - and here's day one! Enjoy some Aizawa fam fluff (there's like two sentences of angst if you squint). You can find the master list for all the one shots here: ☃︎

“ ‘Toshi, come outside!! Hurry!”

Eri’s urgent voice rings throughout the halls of the Aizawa home, the purple haired man in question popping his head out from the kitchen in concern, to see his very frazzled sister, decked out head to toe in winter gear, on the verge of tears.

“What’s wrong?” He says, slipping on his jacket and putting on his boots before kneeling before the small girl.

“I-I was playing outside, and then when I went to our apple tree to grab branches for a snowman I was making, I saw a little birdie on the ground. It was bleeding ‘Toshi!” the small girl was distraught, and Shinso frowned as he opened the back door leading to the backyard.

“Show me.” he said, brows knit together as Eri runs back out to trudge in the snow, stopping to crouch down at the small form of a bird in the snow.

The girl’s crimson eyes well up with tears as she turns back to her brother, who was taking off his jacket as she whispers out. “He’s cold Hitoshi… and hurt…”

Gently, the purple haired hero in training gingerly scoops up the tiny bird, thankfully the tired thing didn’t bother to attempt to nip him, and bundles it in his jacket, carefully not to injure it further as he carries it himself, telling Eri to grab a shoe box from his closet.

“Got it!” she says, her pearly eyebrows creasing as she runs inside with vigor.

Sitting the poor bird down on the countertop, as he rinses his hands, grabbing a soft disposable towel to lay the bird on instead of his jacket. Just then, Eri clambers back down the stairs and presents him with a shoebox, carefully placing the bird inside.

Fishing out his phone from his pocket, Shinso dials Aizawa to inform him of the situation. It’s times like these when he regrets not taking his driver’s test earlier.

"Hey kid, is everything alright?" Aizawa’s monotonous and deep voice fills the room as Eri’s face brightens at the sound of her father.

“Dad!” she exclaims. “We found a hurt birdie in the backyard! We need to take it to the vet!”

Aizawa stays silent for a minute before Shinso speaks up. “Dad…” he starts, trying to make the tired man understand through his tone.

Eri’s suffered through episodes of trauma when it comes to injuries, terrified of the prospect of someone being injured and not being able to help. Shinso didn’t want her to be sad anymore.

Aizawa sighs, a wry smile evident through his voice as he says, “Keep it warm, I’ll be there in five minutes.”

After that, they hang up and they both stare at the bird for a minute.

Curiosity taking ahold of him, he searches up the bird’s features, attempting to see what type of bird it was.

As soon as the result pops up, Shinso almost snorts at the irony, the bird’s signature red stripes matching the one in the picture.

A partridge in an apple tree, huh?
