What I really appreciate about The Talos Principle 2 is that big chunks of its writing genuinely read like they were written by someone who's personally had to justify the discipline of philosophy to a STEM major. "There exists an implicit moral algorithm in the structure of the cosmos, but actually solving that algorithm to determine the correct course of action in any given circumstance a priori would require more computational power than exists in the universe. Thus, as we must when faced with any computationally intractable problem, we fall back on heuristic approaches; these heuristics are called 'ethics'." is a fascinating way of framing it, but then I ask why would you explain it like that, and every possible answer is hilarious.

going to break into the piracy discourse and argue that it isn't ethical to buy a AAA video game. you shouldn't give them your money. it's only ethical to play if you pirate it.

yall like to pretend that "don't split up" is the most obvious rule in any horror scenario, but what's the alternative? stick together and cooperate ? to find a solution? in a life-or-death situation??? babe surely you have been in enough group projects to guess how that shit ends

it absolutely kills me when fandom depicts bloodweave with Gale as the anxious rule abiding one that gets flustered over any crime worse than jaywalking, while Astarion is all crime and malice and not having fun unless he's breaking rules
like
have you guys heard of facades?
one of them spent his childhood obsessively hunting for ever more new and exciting ways to defy the laws of nature and his parents, became part of an exclusive circle of people who notoriously hold themselves above the rules for the sake of fucking around and finding out. proceeded to find that environment too stifling, decided to ignore their rules too, and fucked around so hard he ended up doomed for defying his own chosen god. and still didn't learn.
The other one was studying hard to make a prestigious career of upholding the law, and only turned to crime after centuries of desperation and no alternative. he's not even good at mugging.
if those two were trying to do something illegal and dangerous, Astarion would talk a big game until they actually got down to business, then watch in horror as Gale runs headlong into some life threatening bullshit with all the energy of a kid at disneyland

If you have been thinking of modding your 3ds, DO NOT UPDATE IT.
It's likely that the homebrew team will break this new level of security in a few months, but, goddamn it really shows how much Nintendo spites their own players to mod a system they don't even support anymore to make it harder to play games AFTER shutting down the eshop.
Fuck Nintendo, pirate all of their games, don't give them a fucking cent.

came across a reddit thread in which a bunch of men discussed a video game where the player can punish or reward little nonhuman creatures in order to train them, and someone said it disturbed him to learn that some players punish the creatures more than is needed, because they (the players) just seem to enjoy it. this triggered a debate on whether it’s unethical or no big deal to hurt virtual creatures who don’t feel pain and aren’t sentient, and the consensus was that it’s wrong, because it’s not about whether the creature feels pain or minds being punished, it’s about the fact that the player enjoys doing this to them and that means something is wrong with him
what are the odds that this random sample of men on reddit are anti-prostitution activists and tell their male friends there’s something wrong with them if they watch porn? lol their thread literally sounded like a radfem post about how it doesn’t matter if a woman in porn / prostitution / bdsm consents to what’s being done to her or claims to enjoy being degraded, it’s about men’s enjoyment of practices that degrade and hurt women, and what it means. turns out men perfectly understand the concept, they just don’t think it applies to these topics because they feel more empathy towards nonsentient nonhuman video game creatures than towards women

🔥 polyester
ugggh if you would have asked me a couple years ago I would have given a more neutral answer but now that I've started wearing more natural fibers I want to kill it with fire. Polyester has its place, but I'm begging the fashion industry to stop making summer clothes with poly because ya gal is a sweater
