do you have anderperry and/or dps headcanons you feel very strongly about?
OH BOY DO I EVER!!!!!
- Neil’s favorite thing to do is come up behind Todd and hug him and just… stay there for any period of time. From anywhere between a minute and the rest of the time they’re in a given place. Todd never comments on it, Neil never explains, it’s just a thing.
- Todd always stands on Neil’s right and vice versa Neil always stands on Todd’s left. If it’s the other way around, no matter what they’re doing, they’ll switch places because it feels wrong.
- Neil gets too caught up in retelling Todd his dreams in the morning so it can take him upwards of ten minutes to do his tie, which sometimes makes him late to leaving, so to combat it Todd started doing Neil’s tie in the morning while he talked.
- Neil and Ginny (and by extension Chet) are cousins by marriage. Does that make sense at all? No. But I do not care.
- Charlie was the tallest of the group up until tenth grade when everyone else got growth spurts and left him in the dust.
- Cameron lives with his grandparents.
- The Anderson family is HUGE (I’m talking 4 pairs of grandparents, 6 aunts, 5 uncles, 8 cousins kind of huge) and Jeff and Todd are the only boys in their generation.
- Jumping off from the last one: Todd’s cousins used to use him as a guinea pig because he was the youngest.
- Mrs. Perry’s first name is Nancy.
- Mr. And Mrs. Anderson are named Patrick and Rebecca respectively.
- Out of the entire group, Pitts is the only one that’s ever actually had a girlfriend by the start of the movie. (For like 3 weeks in 7th grade, but still)
- Ginny and Chris have complete opposite tastes in music and are always exchanging records for the other to see if they like.
- Todd loves snakes.
- Knox jumps a solid half a foot in the air when scared.
- Meeks hates spiders. Charlie loves them. You can imagine how that tends to go down.
- Neil had always wanted a dog but could never get one because his mom has a fur allergy.
- Cameron does origami in his spare time.
- Meeks can’t do a cartwheel and EVERYONE makes fun of him for it.
- Neil had a one-sided beef with Jeff pre-junior year that he could never justify or rationalize until he met Todd.
- Chris does Ginny’s lipgloss for her every morning before school.
- Todd Anderson autism + Neil Perry AuDHD is real TO ME.
- Neil and Todd can’t be alone together for longer than five minutes without breaking out into hysterical laughter over essentially nothing.
- Neil and Charlie once tried to convince a store clerk they were orphan brothers for free ice cream. It did not work.
- Todd can’t cook for shit and is on ‘handing-people-things-they-need’ duty. Neil can cook just barely. Cameron, somehow, is a master chef. Knox consistently nicks his fingers with knives and is no longer allowed in the kitchen.
- In a modern setting, Knox would absolutely have two moms.
- Neil and Todd’s wardrobes have essentially morphed into one singular wardrobe and they can’t differentiate what belongs to who anymore. They’ve stopped caring and just wear each others clothes if they want to.
- Neil is a master at drunk karaoke. Charlie is a master at drunkenly pressuring Neil into doing drunk karaoke.
- The ribbon Chris wears in her hair is a gift from Ginny.
- Pitts is almost scarily good at checkers.
- Charlie can hold his breath for almost three minutes.
- Neil is a biter.
- ‘Spazs’ name is Eugene, Stick’s name is Roy, Hopkins’ first name is Albert.
- Keating’s implied british wife(?) is named Jessica.
- Charlie is the only one of the guys that can SOMEWHAT dance.
- More often than not, Todd is actually the one to reach out and hold Neil’s hand rather than the other way around.
- Todd’s middle name is Augustus.
And that’s all the ones I can remember right now!!! Questions, comments, concerns?????

THE ACTOR'S ACTOR
Michael Shannon is still trying to figure out a few things. Minor issues, like, what the hell is America about? And why do our vocations not contain the keys to a simple life? Shannon has recently added a directing credit to his extraordinary acting C.V., but in most other respects he’s just one of us.
fashion director GRACE GILFEATHER
by THE RAKE
photography MICHAEL SCHWARTS
Hollywood actor Michael Shannon is photographed for the Issue 83’s cover of The Rake magazine. Michael wears Brioni, Dunhill and Audemars Piguet.
Speaking to The Rake in early July, from his home in New York, Michael Shannon is — emotionally, at least — on both sides of the Atlantic. “I’m a massive tennis fan, and I’ve just been watching [Novak] Djokovic dismantle your fellow Brit [Cameron] Norrie,” he says.“Before that we were watching the Nadal and [Taylor] Fritz match. Oh, Rafael was in pain, but he still won.” All of which might sound like small talk, but Shannon has brought up tennis for reasons related to a vocation that has earned him Academy Award (2016’s Nocturnal Animals, 2008’s Revolutionary Road), Golden Globe (2014’s 99 Homes) and Tony Award (2016’s Broadway revival of Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night) nominations.
Acting, he says, involves getting into something resembling a meditative state. “You have to be able to still your mind, for sure,”he says.“You can’t be thinking about a bunch of other stuff. When I’m doing a scene, I have a couple of ground rules. Like, I never bring my phone to set, ever. I’m not judging anyone who does, but for me the thing you’re trying to do is so enormous and multifaceted that for me it has to be the only thing you’re thinking about. So I try to have no distractions at all. A lot of the time [on set] I don’t really say much, and people can misconstrue that as, ‘Oh, he’s, he’s “method”’. But I’m defiantly anti-method. I think the notion of trying to walk around all the time convincing yourself [of something] feels psychotic.
He’s also been busy — exceptionally so — with an eclectic list of yet-to-be-screened projects, all of which suggest that his knack for making the right creative choices as he hits 48 years on the planet remains as sharp as ever. The most prominent include David O. Russell’s 1930s-set mystery-comedy Amsterdam (alongside Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, Anya Taylor-Joy and Robert De Niro) and Bullet Train, an action thriller directed by David Leitch and released this summer, in which Shannon joins Brad Pitt, among others, as assassins on the eponymous high-speed train deciphering the connection between their various missions.
Shannon plays White Death, and viewers expecting his character to pack the most menace won’t be disappointed. “Bullet Train is filled with a lot of really scary assassin-type people, but they’re all scared of White Death,” he says. “I guess he’s the super-assassin. The high priest of death. And he’s the boss of this international cartel that deals in very shady things. He’s the one that’s supposed to make everybody shake in their boots, I guess.”

I have found @celie-voss ‘s post really interesting about the german dubs for Band of Brothers, which you can find here, so I decided to add the hungarian voices too. The early 2000s hungarian dubs for HBO were always exceptional, so the quality is really good with BoB too, but sometimes you just can’t take seriously some characters with different voices. Honestly the cast lives in my head with two voices and it can be a bit confusing sometimes xD
So here are BoB characters and the voices they share with other actors/characters:
Richard Winters - Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Marvel), Petyr Baelish (Game of Thrones), Sirius Black (Harry Potter), Spock (Star Trek AOS), Thorin (The Hobbit) and like so many more important characters I can’t even list 😅
Lewis Nixon - Aragorn (LOTR) and Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas in general
Carwood Lipton - Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (DC)
George Luz - like every other jokester character, but Ben Stiller and Jack Black in general
Ronald Speirs - Jack Sparrow (POTC) and Tom Hardy and Scott Caan in general
Eugene Roe -  Chris Pratt and Owen Wilson in general
Harry Welsh - Chin Ho Kelly (Hawaii Five-0) and like Jason Statham in general
Bill Guarnere - Hawkeye Pierce (M.A.S.H.) and Bronn (Game of Thrones)
Babe Heffron - John Basilone (The Pacific), Faramir (LOTR), Hulk (Marvel) and Poe Dameron (Star Wars)
Frank Perconte - Samwise Gamgee (LOTR), Radar O’Reilly (M.A.S.H.)
Albert Blithe - Dr. Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb)
Johnny Martin - Heimdall (Marvel)
Herbert Sobel - Dominic Toretto (Fast & Furious)
Floyd Talbert - Po (Kung Fu Panda)
Buck Compton - Patrick Jane (The Mentalist)
Donald Malarkey - Floki (Vikings)
Shifty Powers - Ahkmenrah (Night at the Museum) (here I also have to mention Semir Gerkhan because I grew up on Cobra 11, even tho I don’t think many of you know that outside Europe 😅)
Bull Randleman - Sam Uley (Twilight)
Smokey Gordon - Bones (Star Trek AOS)
Thanks for reading it! It was fun to collect!

Elijah Eugene Pitts (February 3, 1938 – July 10, 1998) was a football player, a halfback in the NFL for eleven seasons, ten with the Green Bay Packers. He briefly played for the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints. He was an assistant coach in the league for over two decades, most notably as the assistant head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
He was selected by the Packers in the 13th round of the 1961 NFL draft, 180th overall. He turned down a higher offer from the Boston Patriots of the AFL to play for a better team in the more established league. A reserve for much of his early career behind the Hall of Famer Paul Hornung, he saw his most action for the Packers in 1966 and scored two touchdowns in the first Super Bowl.
After Lombardi departed from the team, he, Lee Roy Caffey, and Bob Hyland were traded to the Chicago Bears for the second overall pick in the 1970 NFL draft. At age 32, he was cut by the Bears and played for the Rams and Saints in 1970, he returned to Green Bay for a final season in 1971 with first-year head coach Dan Devine.
He was a member of all five NFL championship teams under head coach Vince Lombardi, including wins in the first two Super Bowls. He was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1979. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Chauncey Street creates the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards
The blood was quickly draining from the faces of Gerry Laybourne and Debby Beece.
Chauncey Street Productions –Albie Hecht, Alan, Fred– was describing a scene of hopeful optimism of an annual kids' award show Nickelodeon should produce.
"There'll be the biggest movie stars in the world while 10,000 kids will be screaming at the top of their lungs!"
"But why will any stars come to a Nickelodeon kids' awards show?"
In 1988, Nickelodeon was only three years into its Fred/Alan revival. Even with the network at #1 in the ratings, Nick management was, smartly, still working like the channel was an underdog. It allowed the staff to keep their creative and business edges, striving to be the best.
As much as Nick had grown, the general perception was that The Disney Channel was bigger. It wasn't true, not by a long shot, but Disney clearly had a bigger brand name in the public's –and the media business's– imagination. So the underdog needed to keep up the pressure.
We thought an annual Kids' Choice Awards, executed well, could be Nickelodeon's nail in The Disney Channel coffin. After all, Nick was the most popular kids channel on television, by far. This show would be the proof, like ESPNs ESPYS and MTVs Video Music Awards had done for their channels.
Gerry and Debby became convinced, as did the MTV Networks higher ups, that with cable in 50 million American homes in the late 1980s, and Nick at #1 in the ratings (not to mention the dominance of Nick-at-Nite), in addition to kids, parents –and please, movie stars were parents too!– were more excited about Nickelodeon than anyone realized. And the chance to be in the presence of a live Nick show would draw out the crowds.
Alan: A nice detail is what Gerry told me years and years later. “When you guys told me the idea I thought I was going to throw up. I was so worried celebrities wouldn’t come because we were still new. But I also knew you were right and we had to do it.”
It was still an uphill battle to mount the show. Budget would be an issue for several years, convincing Universal's Hollywood theme park to give us one of their pavilions for free was, to say the least, a triumph of negotiation (we promised that we’d feature the tour in the show!). And those movie star guests? That took a while.
Tumblr media
From the very beginning, we were thinking about what the actual physical award would be. Albie was drawn to the blimp version of Nick’s logo that Corey & Co. had designed for Fred/Alan. It was his brainstorm that insisted the dirigible would double as a kaleidoscope.

Dan Schneider, Debbie Gibson, Brian Robbins frightened by King Kong on the Universal Studios Hollywood tour KCA 1988
The first show host was Tony Danza, then flying high on "Who's the Boss," Nickelodeon network ID singers, Eugene Pitt & the Jive Five and pop sensation  Debbie Gibson. And maybe most prophetic of all,  guest presenters included stars of the sitcom "Head of the Class" Dan Schneider and Brian Robbins. "Prophetic" because Dan went on to create Nick's iconic live action comedies like "Drake & Josh," "iCarly" and "Zoey 101." And Brian? Well, after several years of being a hit television producer with partner Michael Tollin ("Smallville," "All That," "One Tree Hill"), in 2018 Brian became the president of Nickelodeon.
Alan: Other details: We couldn’t get Eddie Murphy that first year. We couldn’t even get Judge Reinhold to accept on his behalf. Thank goodness John Ashton did the appearance. (He was the cop sidekick.)
Also if I’m not mistaken Alf won best actor for TV. Hey, they were kids.

Brian Robbins & Dan Schneider KCA 1988
Albie went on to become the Nickelodeon's president of production where he produced all the Kids' Choice shows until he becamse Spike TV's founding CEO in 2003. Not for nothing, after a steady build, the 1998 10th Annual Kids' Choice Awards was held at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion. The sold out capacity? 10,000 screaming kids.

[ad_1] His dream at that time was to do a play in New York, which came true when he landed a part in a 2018 Broadway production of Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh. One of his costars was Denzel Washington. “There’s that thing where you meet your heroes, and you want to be their best friend,” Butler says. “I was like, ‘That’s not going to happen.’ So, I went into the quickest mentality of ‘I’m not going to try to be his friend, I’m just going to try to do work as well as I possibly can.’ ” Butler showed up at the table read for the play, having memorized the entire mammoth script. Then he would try to arrive at the theater earlier than Washington every single performance. Eventually, the legendary actor caught on to what was happening. One day, Washington waved him over and said, “Hey, I got an idea for you,” Butler shares. “Then I sat down; it’s just Denzel and me in this empty theater. He started giving me acting advice and he really took me under his wing. He’d start telling me thoughts about the scene, and suddenly I’ve got Denzel almost as an acting coach.” And maybe even a life coach. “Denzel always goes back to gratitude,” Butler adds. “I look at that for longevity in any career. Having those moments where, at the best of times or the worst of times, you’re being grateful for what you actually have and having humility.”Critics started to notice Butler too. Hilton Als, reviewing the play in The New Yorker, both opened and closed his review praising Butler and highlighting him as the standout among his more seasoned castmates. “Most performers want to be seen at any cost,” Als wrote, “but actors—at least, those as good as Butler—are both determined and relaxed in their ambition to do justice to the playwright’s text while contributing to the life of the story.”The play put him on the map and vaulted him to the company of his other heroes—Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio on the set of Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, directed by, yes, Quentin Tarantino. Butler remembers one night shoot, in which Tarantino ordered a crepe truck to the set at 3 a.m. “We were sitting there eating Nutella crepes, and Quentin goes, ‘How great is this?’ ” Butler recalls. “I think back to my 12-year-old self, being there with Quentin and eating a crepe at three in the morning on his set. And he goes, ‘You know what my goal is? My goal is to give everybody on this set such a good time that their next job sucks.’ ” [ad_2] Source link

Nickelodeon Camp IDs 1988-1990 from fredseibert on Vimeo.
The MTV network identification work that Alan Goodman and I did that stamped "brand!" all over the channel's launch in 1981, along with the promotion work my team did for the channel, led MTV Networks president Bob Pittman to ask our new, innovative media branding company (the world's first!) to get involved in saving Nickelodeon from extinction in 1984.
We were most excited about the creative work we could do not only with our new indie animation buddies from the MTV projects, but also with some of the newer folks we’d met since that first go. Eli Noyes and Kit Kit Laybourne started us off, but then came Jon Kane, Marv Newland, and eventually David Lubell and Charlex. And, as the years went on our friend, producer/artist Howard Hoffman, who was running a summer animation program at his childhood camp in Maine came in with maybe the most revolutionary idea of our entire tenure with Nick.
Since Alan and I always started with the sound-before-picture probably the most distinctive and memorable element of these new IDs would be our new friendship with singer Eugene Pitt and his vocal group The Jive 5. (You can get the whole story here.)
