rewatched Megamind just now because my dad got his hands on a HD copy after many years and uhh yeah it's the best movie ever made. (FYI I've been watching an SD cropped .avi for my whole life so seeing it in such High Definition™ was eye-opening)

These people can be seen after Minion speeds away in the invisible car (hitting some guy in the process) and they're like, trying to figure out why they feel like they got hit by a mfing car it's so cool

There's a Raiders of the Lost Arc reference that my dad pointed out? That's cool

Where tf was Hal planning to store that "bouncy house he rented" when his apartment is like twelve square feet

Also the Roxanne "Good night Hal" poster totally caught me off guard even though I knew it was there lmao

Hal wearing a mask when we first see him, when he's acting all "heroic" and shit, and then tossing the mask away just as he gets rejected, and then not wearing the mask for the rest of the movie because THAT'S HIS TRUE SELF?! THE THEMES OF LOOKING PAST THE INITIAL ASSUMPTIONS YOU MAKE WHEN YOU MEET A PERSON AND SELF IDENTITY IN THIS MOVIE MAKE ME GO FERAL

The scene in the rain is so beautifully animated and scored it makes me want to cry 😭

I never noticed this but Megamind reverting back to his old habits and "evil" ways after Roxanne finds out he'd been lying to her is just chef's kiss 💋 Like, he had such fun back then being thwarted by Metro Man, and then he starts growing as a person when he hangs out with Roxanne, like when he restores the paintings to the museum or cleans up the park he doesn't take credit for it or anything, he just wants to see her happy

And then she dumps him and he tries to get over it by being "himself" again

Titan rising from fire imagery? Okay I see you movie (I'm literally holding myself back from screaming because you're so amazing)

Also the way that Megamind gets so tense and frightened when Titan actually threatens to kill him? Because Metro Man would just give him to the police (acab) because it's not in his morals to kill someone

Metro Man walking on water and having his feet kissed imagery, also obviously being modelled after Elvis Presley who people worship like a god 10/10

Markiplier looking down for a moment and legitimately contemplating his question "Who would I be without you?" Because he's having a kind of identity crisis, wondering what he would do if he wasn't born with these powers and automatically assigned the role of protector because of them

Another thing about Titan, I love how in the scene where he's introduced formally with powers, the score is written like it's supposed to be romantic, or heroic, but there's a weird thing Hans Zimmer did where he managed to make it sound sinister especially towards the end, when he gets angry at Roxanne

Overall thoughts: I'm in love with this movie.

I am also furious that we went from "It can be easily reheated, in the microwave of evil" and "I'm shaking in my custom baby seal leather boots" and "There is no Queen of England" to;

"It's either a paper weight or a flash-grenade, so careful with that"

"I have eyes that can see right through lead" is the funniest thing to ever grace my eyes and ears.

Bug’s Fic and Gin collection

It’s wednesday night and I’m in the mood to do something a little weird so I’m pairing my gin collection to my Megamind fics. These will be in order of first posting.

Shut up and Ki(ss)dnap me - A short two chapter fic, my first foray into the fandom (though not the first thing I wrote for it). Short and zippy but a delightful finish. Pair with: Ambleside Small Acre gin. Heavy on the botanicals. Rhubarb, bay leaf, apple and cloves give a savoury zing on the palate. On the Palate: Juniper, pine, notes of white pepper, herbaceous and earthy body, slight bite to finish.

The Shoal - A Cthuluesque oneshot mostly about the gods of Megamind’s species and how they followed him to Earth Pairs with: Amphitrite Gin Elixir. A sweeter gin, milder than most but ooh take it slow because it will change your life

Bad Idea  - A songfic and the first of the Feral Roxanne iterations. Pairs with: It has to be Chase Sloe and Mulberry gin. Sweet gins aren’t for everybody but this one has a strong flavour and quite strong. If you’re going to indulge in something over the top you might as well make it worth it.

Fishcakes - Why did I torture Minion this way? Minion’s POV but mostly revolves around “Oh good they worked it out...could they stop working it out for five minutes maybe?” Pairs with: Queenscliff Distillery Dry gin. Bitey, very dry. Poor Minion deserves better.

Tea with Topsy - Ah yes...the big one. The slowburn falling in love Evil Queen AU. Specifically without an external catalyst. No Hal, no other big bad, just flirting and phonecalls and a slow slow steep into the darkside with no interest in redeeming the villain or setting them on a path to light. Still a feral Roxanne but also just two actual adults just coming together with the kind of inevitability of a fuse burning down to the explosives. Pairs with: Brookies Byron Slow Gin. Made with Davidson plums rather than sloe berries. Bright and flavourful with a hint of bite. I prefer it over ice.

Behind the scenes - Its just horny guys. What feral Roxanne wants, feral Roxanne gets. Pairs with: Tiny Bear distillery Brew. Coffee infused gin. delicious. Punches your lungs out with the fumes if you’re not careful.

Layers - Roxanne makes self destructive decisions. Megamind makes self sabotaging ones. Nothing is going well. And yet it ends lightly? Pairs with: Larrikin Barrel Aged Gin. This gin has been ‘aged’ in small American Oak barrels, that once held bourbon and then Tasmanian whisky. Strong whisky scent but none of the afterburn. Lingering flavours, best served over ice.

Presentation - Ultimate Alien Megamind, written for a Gift Exchange. Megamind rescues Roxanne, makes better decisions than she does. Quiet and painful. A sequel is coming (eventually) Pairs with: Archie Rose Coast. Strawberry gum, sea lettuce and lemon myrtle, the second most Australian tasting gin I’ve ever had. Delicious.

Rings - The crackfic idea that should not have turned into 80K+ with feelings. And yet here we are. Pairs with: Dasher + Fisher Sloe Gin. One of my favourite gins, very sweet and a serious indulgence. Comes from Tasmania. Extremely delicious and very sweet.

Run - Still might actually be my favourite oneshot. Brains/Brawn/Boss. Roxanne disappears and Megamind and Metro Man team up to find her. Everybody goes Evil because Evil has Standards. Pairs with: Underdog Gin from Applewood Distillery. Anise myrtle my love.

Liminal Spaces - Outtakes and alternate scenes from Rings. Pairs with: Brogan’s Way Hearts Afire gin. Cassia, aniseed myrtle, lilly pilly. Warm and winter.

Date Night - Accidental Evil fake dating, written to have two bastard ferals bang in the car. Somehow needed 10K+ of logistics beforehand. Sigh Pairs with: Tiny Bear Sailor Gin. Extra strength Navy gin and fucking hell I need to finish this fic.

Better the Devil you know - Another Roxanne runs to a supervillain for safety. Happens very early on in their relationship before they trust one another well enough that things would have progressed if it happened a few years later. Pairs with: Roku Gin, a very smooth Japanese gin with a very pretty bottle.

Pomegranate Seeds - Kind of fucked up Hades/Persephone AU Pairs with: Dasher + Fisher Cherry Gin. Sweet but cruel.

and the taste of you sweet on my tongue - Sweet soft soulmate AU where I was more interested in the worldbuilding than the outcome. Pairs with: Dasher + Fisher Strawberry Gin. Very sweet. Nothing to it after that.

No one calls you honey when you're sitting on a throne - Heheheh. Similar to Run wherein we see Roxanne choose Evil. But a lot bitier and immediately destructive. Pairs with: Copperwave Gin from Hunter Distillery. Aromatic and citrusy with a licorice finish.

Hey kids lets rob a bank!    - Based on an anon prompt. Two old marrieds just as in love as ever. Pairs with: Greenall’s Wild Berry Gin. Its sweet and light. What more do you want?

Waiting - Very silly. Diary style fic. Means I get to avoid all the awkward bits I don’t feel like writing. Pairs with: 78 Degrees Sunset Gin. DELICIOUS. Could drink it forever no effort.

Mirror Mirror - Extremely fucking horny fucking. Pairs with: Teddy & The Fox from Bellarine Gin. Its bitey.

Dual Dreams - A Sora, Donald, and Goofy Fic

Part two of what I wrote for Sora’s birthday.

Summary: For Sora's birthday--years after the Master of Masters is defeated--Sora, Donald, and Goofy decide to go on a fun adventure... but only to get pulled into a new plot, dealing with dreams. The antagonist has to do with dreams, as does all the worlds: first world is Inception, though it's not a one-to-one copy of the film.

Dual Dreams Sora’s PoV "You know... despite all the journeys we went on, we never did one for just fun," Donald was telling Sora now, as he examined the sword that Master Yen Sid said had said he should try. But with the way his eyes kept darting back towards “Save the Queen”, Sora couldn’t help thinking that Donald was going to stay with his beloved wand in the end. "That's a good point!" Goofy chirped, as he scarfed down his hot cocoa and then some chocolate cake as fast as he could—nearly knocking over the pastry that the Master had put on his table in such a decorative way. And Sora wondered if Goofy was trying to get both chocolate flavors in his mouth around the same time. Maybe they tasted good together? "Sora, what do you say to us doing that for your birthday?!" Sora considered this offer for a moment as he drummed his fingers on his right leg. He was trying to make this birthday perfect, despite some dreams he'd been having lately… and it had been ages since he'd paled around with these buds of his. Sora nodded his head almost instantly. "Sure! Sounds good to me!" And he let his hand fall atop the other two’s, as they yelled out their standard “All-for-one and one-for-all!” And they boarded the gummi ship for a long journey… but only to be spit out of it before they reached their intended destination, and instead ended up in some strange location. "So, what's this world we're at this time?" Sora asked as he got to his feet and saw a strange mirror standing before him (wait. Hadn’t he done this kind of thing before? And even though he barely touched it with the tips of his fingers, it shattered into a million pieces as if it had never been there to begin with. Sora could have been wrong about this… but this place was very dream-like to him, and already it was worrying him that he had gotten off track already somehow—as he had during his Mark of Mastery exam—and that it would lead to the trapped girl he didn’t know how to feel about, who he was having so many dreams about lately… They weren’t romantic dreams, or anything like that—no, Kairi was the love of Sora’s life and always would be—but rather like a poor soul was reaching out to him for help… but he didn’t know if he should give it or not, because he also got the sense that she was evil. And here Sora had partly come on this adventure to try and avoid all of this anguish! "I don't know," Donald quacked, bringing Sora’s thoughts back to the present, as he led them to a sinking bridge that looked more like it belonged in Shinjuku, than in the way this place had just looked: as if it were a part of La Cité des Cloches. "But it reminds me of an animation I once saw!" "It reminds me... of dreams I’ve had," Sora said, as he remembered how he’d dreamt about falling through his shattering heart platform, among other things "Gawrsh," said Goofy, as he pointed out a man and girl, who were suddenly before them. "Why don't we go talk to that man with the nametag 'Cobb'? The last place we went to on our final quest had ‘cobs’. It can't be a coincidence! That seemed like a large leap in logic to Sora, but since Goofy was, perhaps, wiser than any of them, he thought he'd hear him out. The trio walked over to this Cobb person... and Donald and Goofy received odd looks from the new people on the scene almost immediately. "Who are you?" the woman with the curling brown hair and sharp honey- colored eyes asked Sora and his friends as she seemed to deeply analyze them. "Cobb… are these three part of one of the dream levels?" "Dream levels?!" both Donald and Goofy choked out at the same time, as they gave each other a look before then sending Sora one—clearly worried that he was falling into the depth again. And their concern for him touched his heart. "Do ya mean we're too deep in some place, and there's no hope of resurfacin’?" Goofy asked sadly, as he bowed his head and his ears sagged (Sora's heart went out to him). Meanwhile, Donald was tapping his foot impatiently and muttering something under his breath, that Sora heard—and when the brunet's eyes filled up with wonder and he gasped at the duck's genius, he realized he was right--"I bet this is one of those worlds where they think things happen in the mind and not the heart!" "…Look... as great as all this is. I got to find Mal- I mean finish this mission," said Cobb. But his assistant was already looking at the man incredulously as his first words seemed to catch up with her. "Your thinking about your wife is going to jeopardize us all!' And though Sora really had no idea what was going on here—as per most of his world visits, really—he could understand how the girl could be right. He, after all, had allowed his feelings for Naminé to endanger Donald, Goofy, and himself. And even possibly Naminé herself. So, Ariadne, as Sora would later learn her name was, was right. But he also understood how love made you do crazy things. Sora wasn't in love with Naminé anymore—and really, he never had been. It had always been Kairi for him. And he'd certainly done more than enough mad things for her—but still. "No, she won't, Ariadne. I'll make sure she stays in limbo but doesn't pull us into it. And if these guys are really here to help us—sent by Saito—we'll see if they can help out Arthur give the kick to the others with no gravity. Come on!" So with that, Sora, Donald, and Goofy found themselves following their new friends and getting a bit of a summary of what was going on. It seemed they'd all been right in assuming they were in some sort of dream thing. And Donald had been correct in thinking that this world dealt moreso in minds, than in hearts. Some rich man called “Saito”,  wanted the heir to his rival company to dissolve it. And Cobb, Ariadne, and some others, had been sent here to implant the idea into the heir, Fischer’s, head. They had kidnapped the man... and somehow linked up all of their minds together, to try and access Fischer’s subconscious. But since even in dreams, you were always somewhat aware and would fight to protect yourself and your secrets, they needed to go into the deepest level of Fischer’s mind in order to get the idea to hold. But the team needed someone to monitor them on each dream level, so they'd be able to “kick” awake, those who were in much deeper. But in the area where an “Arthur” was on guard, it seemed like he really needed help! And as the group went back to the level of the dream this “Arthur” was on—the third one, maybe?—Sora found himself wondering why he, Donald, and Goofy were here. Every world he had gone to during his previous destiny had happened for a reason—Kingdom Hearts had made sure of that—so Sora tried to guess why he was in this sharply decorated hotel space now... as they fought both “dream security” and Heartless. The only thing he could figure, was if he was meant to find that, perhaps insane, purple-haired-girl from his dreams, and this would somehow lead him there. But that wasn’t important right now! What was important was defeating these Heartless, as always. Sora was surrounded by Soldiers, Neoshadows, and Wizards! And Neoshadows were bad enough on their own... but when you added in Wizards' tough magic and Soldiers headbutting you, it made an already bad day much worse. And ugh! He felt out of practice in using the Keyblade, too. Maybe he’d spent too much time being lazy with Kairi and Riku lately! "Graviga!" Donald yelled—in seeming to have noticed that Sora was faltering—and he succeeded in defeating most of the Wizards, thankfully. And Sora just had to give a few of the ones that had been struck by Donald’s magic, and that hadn’t disappeared yet, one more hit before they were also gone for good. And later, Sora would be glad Donald had dispatched those Heartless so easily. Because they were some of the most skilled magical users, after all, and magic was connected to the mind... which was where dreams were stored. At least here. So, Sora didn't know what kind of damage they could have created, if Donald hadn't prevented it. But Goofy wasn't to be upstaged in all of this! When he seemed to note that the tall, dark man in the tux was getting distracted in worrying about Ariadne right now, Goofy defeated all the Heartless around him with a well-placed Goofy Tornado—and also knocked out some “guards”—and then told Arthur in a very intelligent way, "Gawrsh, Mister Arthur... I know ya like Ariadne, and are worried about her for tha’ there reason. In fact, it's like my little Maxie with his first crush! There wasn’t anythin’ he wouldn't do for Roxanne... But if you can't rely on yourself in danger, rely on your friends. Alright?!" Arthur seemed... a bit uncomfortable with Goofy standing close to him and telling him this, as he blinked his eyes open and closed a few times—what was with some of the worlds’ denizens acting so uncertain around Donald and Goofy? Sora didn't get it—but clearly listened to his words. Arthur regained his focus and did a pretty good job of defeating some more Heartless that showed up, just by punching them. Ariadne whistled. When it seemed like he’d finally gotten it back under control, the trio went with Cobb and Ariadne to the next dream level... which seemed to be an icy hill with a hospital at the bottom of it: which was probably where the most vulnerable part of Fischer’s mind was at, if Sora had to guess. Aaaaaaaand Sora and his friends were getting shot at from it. And Sora deflected each one of them with a sigh—as he had Xigbar’s arrows during the Keyblade War—as Donald used Thunder magic to try and keep them at bay, and Goofy tried to block them with his shield. Meanwhile, Cobb and Ariadne—and someone named Eames, Sora was learning now—were trying to reach the hospital while they were covered by Sora, Donald, and Goofy, and the snow was only a gentle pat on them, instead of the tornado it could be. Truthfully? Sora really hated guns and bullets, and he was starting to regret that he’d unwittingly signed up to spend his birthday around them. He had first been introduced to them through Clayton trying to kill the gorillas. And thinking of what would have been unnecessary deaths upon innocents, made Sora think that if it started to get too much for Donald and Goofy… he would jump out into the open, to try and better defend them. But fortunately, he didn’t need to. Cobb, Ariadne, and Eames came back with glowing faces—making it seem like they’d accomplished their task—and all firepower had stopped. "Alright. You guys go back to the surface, I’m going to look for Sait- Mal." It was Cobb who had said this, of course, as the famous Mal appeared on the scene... somehow having Fischer on her, and stabbing him before everyone’s very eyes… Making Sora tear up and almost feel like he was going to be sick. And what was worse, was that Sora got the sense that the girl he was dreaming about was a lot like this, too! “Are they dead?” Donald whined. And it sounded like he was also about to cry, perhaps in imagining Daisy as the one being stabbed instead of Fischer. As it stood… this trio was just so done with death. “No. Taken into the deepest part of dreams, where you can forget you’re doing that there: limbo. But I can save him and Saito,” Cobb explained, just as Sora muttered how Mal looked like the girl he’d been dreaming about, because he seemed unable to stop himself. And at that, Goofy frowned slightly—as he tried to get his feet out of the snow—and gave Sora a lecture. "Sora… if this is somethin’ like one of Xehanort's plots, let us know! …It's always when ya keep info to yourself, that ya become lost!" And even while Sora tried to focus on the bad right now—as Mal despaired that Cobb had forgotten her and didn’t want her anymore, as she turned the tundra to island: to limbo, apparently—he thought his heart might soar, in knowing just how much Donald and Goofy cared about him. And then everyone was falling into this last dream level, so there was nothing of the ice from before above them and so that they were trapped. ... The island that Sora, Donald, Goofy, Cobb, Ariadne, and Eames were on, wasn't like Destiny Islands to Sora. It was like if Destiny Islands was... colder—and wasn't a burg of light—and had much darker terrain. And the place was literally colder, too… The Keyblade wielder knew it was silly to think this—because he'd yet to be near an ice burg, or anything like it—but in his imaginings, Sora thought this must have been what a body of water in the arctic must look like. The water here was such a white-ish blue, too, and didn't look like it would change at all... and Sora missed seeing water reflect the yellow or pink of the sun. Ariadne—though she did look angry for her part—didn't start yelling at Cobb for leading them here by being unable to let go of Mal, like Sora thought she would. Instead, she—and Eames, for he was motioning with his hands for Mal to go to Cobb and talk and work it out—just implored to Mal, "If you're from a part of Cobb that actually loves him... or if you think you can imagine what the real Mal felt for him, please let him go." Huh. Mal was from a part of Cobb’s head that had tried to recreate his loved one? Well, if that didn’t remind Sora of his unintentionally creating Xion, he didn’t know what did. But it was like the other story he was in now, too… of- of Alma, Sora had to admit. Because as he understood from his dreams… an entire group of people had been put into her special mind and forced to believe they were in reality. Could that have been happening here, too? Even more than what this group had thought they’d tampered with? "And you let us go too, Alma... if you're there, and somewhat controlling Mal here." Alma was the girl that Sora had been seeing in his dreams—or so he thought; the audio was sometimes hard to hear—and he was starting to gather that she had some sort of the same manipulative powers as Naminé… And lo and behold, Alma made an appearance through Mal. And while Sora thought that she might look at him angrily, for destroying her plans—or at least try to—she actually seemed uncertain at first. But after she didn't seem to know what to do with herself, she then looked mad... and then had Mal come flying Sora's way as she did... but Sora had still seen the look that had said it all. "Alma- no, Clancy. I think that’s the name you prefer? I can help you!" But it was too late. The violet-haired-girl—purple. Oh, how that made Sora think of his love, Kairi—was already gone (and Sora could only hope she'd found her Donavan, Perry, Miss Sayee, or even Shari. Hadn't he dreamed of them, too?), and Sora was now in some sort of building with his friends, that was being torn apart. Eames and Ariadne had at least found Fischer, it seemed, and Eames attempted to jump out of the building to wake up—or Sora presumed—and take Eames with him, but he missed his hand as he was going out of the building. Any of the rest of them would have to jump out with Fischer soon, then… if Cobb ever got over his guilt at seeing “Mal’s ghost” here, so they could join Eames. "Cobb!" Ariadne begged with more desperation in her voice than Sora had ever heard from anyone before. "We managed to do what we set out to! Let's get out of here! Now! You can see your kids again! Think about them! Because if you don't act now, you'll be trapped here forever!" Sora was about to step in and tell Cobb to take it from him: it wasn't a good thing to chase dreams, but before he could Donald was quacking and ruining the moment! "Who's Alma, Sora? Another girl who you like?" "No. She's not, Donald," Sora said deadpan, while Goofy laughed, despite everything. "She's a girl who's trying to hurt us, I think. Jeez! I have my head in the game, alright?" And just as Sora and Donald were arguing, Cobb seemed to arrive at the point Sora and Ariadne (and Donald and Goofy, of course) had wanted him to, without any more help from them... which was good, because maybe this meant it would finally sink into him—it was himself deciding all this—and he could let go of all the pain. Hopefully… "You're not her. You're not Mal. You're the best I could come up with, but with all the facets of her... I couldn't even come close. You're a poor imitation, and I’m sorry that I made you this and you can’t be more than that… But I'll leave this poor imitation behind to see our real kids, if I got any of Mal right in you… that should make you happy." Mal's face then was only upset for a second, Sora thought, before it gave way to happiness before she disappeared. And if they had been in a tornado before, they certainly were in one now as the "creator of this world" vanished. "Cobb," Ariadne said surprisingly brokenly, as Sora had thought that Cobb had finally arrived at the right place. But Ariadne was motioning to Sora, Donald, and Goofy that they should say something to him, too, so maybe not... "You have to come now." "I- I will," he promised, as he knelt at the ground where Mal had just been. And with that, Sora was starting to doubt his intentions, too. “Are you sure?” both Donald and Goofy demanded at the same time, as they stepped closer to him. "I- I promise!" Cobb said with much more urgency this time, as he held up a dreidel. How peculiar... "I have my totem." And Ariadne nodded with a small smile, kicked Fischer out of the building, and purposefully fell backwards out of the stories high skyscraper herself. And Sora, Donald, and Goofy—in assuming she had a better idea on how to escape this dream than they did—followed suit. The trio came out of the last dream—limbo—first, and then they were at the snowy hospital… the hotel… and finally on that highway once more. But though Sora, Donald, Goofy saw the rest of the group getting pulled up even higher than that, they didn’t move that way themselves. So Sora could only hope that the team would be okay... And then- then Sora, Goofy, and Donald were somehow in the office of someone who seemed to hate his job? Which should have been fine, but... "I have a bad feeling about this, guys..." Sora muttered, as an equally scared Donald and Goofy put reassuring hands upon Sora’s shoulders. And somewhere out there, a “manipulative girl” laughed.

Try It Out Chapter 10

Soon after Megamind left, Roxanne went to bed. The next morning, she rushed to work with two cups of coffee.

At the moment, she was sitting at her desk, chair tilted back into a precarious situation, with half of an intro typed out. She was excited for the piece on the past of the local supers, but it was difficult to find anything that wasn't common knowledge. Metro Man simply didn't have anything to hide- or at least, it seemed that way on the surface.

Born in Metro City, never lived elsewhere. Educated in rich, high-end private schools such as lil gifted, he was always a poster boy. He had always picked up trash in neighborhoods and volunteered for the police as soon as he could, the ideal superhero. That was it. Nothing else. Roxanne didn't like it, no one had a life that simple.

Megamind was worse. The guy didn't even have an actual criminal record, he was just dropped off at the jail, never brought to court. Aside from his regular T.V appearances and newspapers, there were no records he even existed. She looked at the clips, mayhem and all, and learned nothing new. She went back to his earliest newspaper. There was one, only one, from his school days by a small publisher. Hometown Boy Goes Bad, read the title. Roxanne couldn't even read the article, because there wasn't a copy of the newspaper, just an image she was lucky to stumble upon with the title and photo.

Roxanne growled at the image. She didn't want to have to rely on a single source, even if the source was Megamind himself, but it seemed she might have to. Someone apparently didn't like having that info out there, so she was going to have to record a phone call or something and scramble up some articles and such detailing the information everyone already knew. If Roxanne was extremely lucky Megamind would know of some sources Roxanne didn't, or maybe she could finally get Wayne to be less cryptic for once by saying she already knew everything checked

Roxanne checked if no one was looking and texted Megamind.

An Update on The Depths of “Gander”: Issue 18!

(Continued from here)

Back in December, I speculated about Issue 18 possibly giving us hints about a future situation regarding Della's return. I observed Cover B and noticed how the moon was present and how the mysterious submarine pilot had a space-vibe about her appearance despite being someone from underwater.

I've been anticipating to read it ever since. (And apparently many others did too, due to the fact that the issue is sold out on Atomic Empire as I’m typing this!) Now that it’s finally released...oh boy, do I have some things to say.

(Please read the comic book first. Lots of spoilers ahead.)

We find out early on that the Mysterious Submariner is a queen named “Diane”. Her name begins with a “D” and it has Greek origins in relation to the Moon. Amusingly enough, I was mislead into thinking her name was “Stella” based on the way Atomic Empire listed the comic, yet she still ended up having a Space-related name.

It’s implied that she’s a tough girl who’s skillful with weapons, such as swords, and she enjoys taking risks. Launchpad thinks of her when he looks into the night sky.

Every time Launchpad brings Diane up in conversation he gets ignored. It’s a trend in the show that whenever he constantly gets ignored about something, it leads to something else worth paying attention to: Constantly being ignored about being a pilot led to helping to save Scrooge after he struggled to stop Pixiu and played a part in discovering why Scrooge was being so ignorant of the word “pilot”. LP's constant fear about one of the children being evil was disregarded even though Magica was nearby. If it weren't for Launchpad being determined to let Scrooge know about getting his driver's license, Fenton may have never became Gizmoduck.

Whatever Launchpad “knows a lot about”, there’s a good chance that he’s going to be ignored at first, but then the others realize how relevant he is.

There was a lot of focus on the Sun in the “Toth-Ra” episode, another example of Launchpad proving to be important. Could this have been alluding to him doing something surprising when the Moon is involved?

The comic takes place ENTIRELY at night despite Cover A taking place during the afternoon. This gives Cover B even more significance.

The story takes place in a dark environment with a body of water, just like “Gander” and “Depths”. As I brought up in my previous post, multiple comparisons can be made between being in space and being underwater. The show highlighted this when Fethry referred to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge as “liquid space” and LP called it “the underwater sky”.

I’m intrigued by the artists seeing Diane as so important, that they placed her on one of the covers instead of keeping her design hidden within the story. This is the first time we've seen any of Launchpad’s reboot exes up close; let alone get to met any of them. The show never gave us a glimpse of Ziyi and we still don’t know what type of mermaid Oceanika is. This comic could definitely be hinting that the next lover we see on screen will be just as close. (Or even closer.)

Diane caused such a commotion, a tsunami warning was issued out.

Multiple people were alerted by her arrival, could Della contact Earth and it causes enough interference that a lot of people end up receiving her message?

Scrooge isn't fazed by the tsunami warning at all, he sees it as an opportunity to go out surfing.

This reminded me of my speculation about Scrooge being so busy doing other things that he doesn't pay attention to Della’s call. I wondered if the bet he made with Glomgold would be the distraction.

In an out-of-context quote, Roxanne Feathery talked about a storm forming over the mansion. Could the tsunami have been alluding to that?

The idea of Scrooge planning on riding the tidal wave kind of reminded me of what Della was trying to do with the cosmic storm.  Is there some sort of loose parallel going on? There was a vehicle, a pilot, a natural disaster and Scrooge's involvement.There’s also the idea of the Money Bin being threatened as a result: Scrooge assumed Diane wanted to steal his money and Scrooge almost causes himself to go bankrupt by using his money to search for Della.

Later on in the story, we find out that Diane came to Duckburg to save Launchpad. She was told that he was kidnapped and enslaved by Scrooge, but this, of course, was just a misunderstanding.

In another post of mine, I speculated about Launchpad possibly being part of Della's motivation for taking the Spear due to his lack of input on her decision. Even after “Last Crash” when we find out that he knows why everyone was moving out, he doesn't bother to weigh in on the situation. His reactions to the family crisis are hardly focused on. If he doesn't blame Scrooge and he doesn't seem to want to blame Della...then who does he blame?

Could Launchpad have actually been in trouble years ago and Della took the Spear early to save him? Was she baited into space travel by being lied to and fell into someone’s trap?! LP’s character has a history of space travel and he’s been abducted by aliens in the original Darkwing Duck series.

If Launchpad was the reason for taking the Spear, could the natural disaster be in reference to Della's disappearance disrupting the family?

I’ve been holding on to the theory that Dewey could be reminding LP of Della for the longest time and this comic just increases that belief.

Their friendship is being highlighted in the same issue we find out about one of Launchpad’s previous lovers and Dewey is said to be a lot like Della.

After learning about the tsunami warning, he was quick to snatch up Dewey to take him to safety instead of snatching up both him and Webby at the same time.

In the show, Launchpad’s attachment to Dewey feels like it came out of nowhere. He suddenly revealed that Dewey was his best friend in “Terror” without having much interaction prior and even after Huey was kind enough to check on him after the snake trap Dewey set off and Louie being the first to consider Launchpad as family. (Hm, but I guess to be fair, LP was dazed on both occasions.)

In “Shadow War”, Launchpad was more upset about Donald and the boys moving away than Webby and Dewey was at the base of most of his concerns.

In “Jaw$”, Dewey wasn't the only one to get eaten by the Money Shark, but Launchpad rushed towards him for a hug. (And then later scooped up Huey and Louie.)

Dewey is always the one chosen to ask Launchpad about his mysterious, romantic adventures. Perhaps their friendship was sparked by Dewey checking on Launchpad after his search for Ziyi, but with all these other facts surrounding this, I can’t help but think that something more is going on.

I’m so baffled by Diane and LP’s relationship status. They both still have strong feelings for each other, so why did they split? Why did she go back home so quickly instead of sticking around for a visit? Because she had a kingdom to attend to? Because he couldn't stay underwater with her? What got in the way? And what could this tell us about Della’s relationship with Launchpad if she had one?

LP kept referring to her as just a friend rather than an “ex-girlfriend” or a “special friend”. So they dated briefly? Or he just doesn't want anyone to know their status? Is it because even though they’re not together, they’re not entirely done with each other, so “friend” is the best way he can describe her? Why is his love-life so dang secretive?!

They didn't even hug. I’m sad.

Donald’s exclusion from this story makes me wonder about his role in any episode that could reveal Launchpad having a connection to his sister...reminds me of when I tried figuring out why he was excluded from the news report and if it’s indicating the possibility of him being pushed back during a space adventure in some way.

Since Dewey and Webby are the kids featured in this comic, I wonder if they’ll be the first to question LP’s history and start doing an investigation.

Taking a small step away from Della: In the B Plot of the story, Huey is having trust issues with Louie the Money Bin. He things his younger brother made up the tsunami warning as an excuse to dive into Scrooge’s gold coins instead of cleaning up the treasures like they promised.

Is this hinting towards a situation where his family doesn't believe him about something important? And could it tie in with Della in some way?

Keeping track of the occurrences that took place before the issue’s released was almost as interesting as the story itself:

The issue was originally set to release on February 13th, a day before Valentine’s Day, but it got pushed to later in the month, the 27th was considered according to Amazon but the 20th was ultimately decided and every outlet switched to this date.

iTunes released a three-page preview a week before the 20th. (I suppose it was queued with the original date.) None of the other sites had a preview available until the day before the issue came out and it was during the later half of the day. Usually, previews are available in multiple places at least a few days before the comic’s release date. I'm probably jumping the gun a little with this, but it seems like there could have been some hesitation over releasing any part this comic... it's not unusual for comic dates to change, but if it had stayed on the 13th, maybe that would have been too suggestive. Maybe they were trying to figure out the best way for people not to catch on too quickly? Whatever the situation may be, the fact that we're getting this comic not only in a month associated with romance, but a date that isn't too far from the premiere of “Whatever Happened to Della Duck?!”, feels a little too intended.

I was originally planning to holding off on all my Issue 18 thoughts on this blog until the new episode, but wow! This comic gave us so much potential hinting, I couldn't keep quiet about it! Perhaps I'll make another “Gander” update picking back up on some of these points and what interesting things the episode has to offer.

One shot - Post-movie

Megamind/Roxanne and Minion, Fluff/Friendship/comedy, PG-13 (for implied intercourse at the end)

Megamind isn’t handling wearing glasses very well. Will anyone be able to cheer him up?

"Ugh! I look absolutely hideous!" A frustrated Megamind through his hands across his desk knocking over paper, pens, and his personal mirror.

"Sir, you're being too hard on yourself," Minion said comfortingly as he tried to calm his distressed friend down. They've gone over this conversation already twice since leaving the doctor's office and it was starting to get old.

"Well, you don't have to wear these dumb glasses so you would not know the pain I feel!" Megamind sighed loudly and began massaging his temples.

"Now you're just being dramatic..." Minion muttered and rolled his eyes. A thought suddenly came to Minion as he raised an eyebrow and added, "Ya know, you didn't have a problem with glasses when you were disguised as Bernard..."

"That man came with glasses the day he was born!!! He was meant to wear them. I on the other had have never had problems with my superior eyesight...well...until now..." Megamind again sighed strongly and let his long face fall showing how truly bothered he was by this situation. He just knew there was no way this situation was ever going to be okay.

"What's going on here? Did someone die?" Roxanne announced as she suddenly walked into 'No Longer Evil Lair' (it's a name they are going with for now until something better came up).

Megamind turned and faced her pouting with large, clouded emerald eyes hiding behind...glasses???

"These are new!" Roxanne said excitedly as she walked over to her extremely upset blue, alien husband who blushed deep purple and began to try to bury himself in his chair.

"They are horrible! Go ahead and laugh! Minion has already gave me an ear full of it!" Megamind closed his eyes and pretended to be somewhere else as he squirmed even more into the chair (though it was not possible).

"I didn't do that all! Sir, you are being ridiculous now!" Minion snapped and sighed exhaustively as he crossed his robotic arms.

"Ladies, ladies, everything is going to be okay. I don't see what the problem is here?" Roxanne reached for her husband's shoulder and watched as he flinched slightly to her touch. She knew the only way to get him over this stupid thing was to make him talk about it and then finish him with her charm.

"No problem?! The problem is I look like a NERD! It's so awful! How am I supposed to be a kick-ass super hero looking like this?!!" Megamind pleadingly looked at Roxanne while gesturing to himself.

"I think you mean geek, Sir," Minion added honestly.

"Minion, you're not helping!" Megamind's distress began to get worse as he turned in his chair so he could face away from Roxanne and Minion.

"But I thought 'geek' was a term for cool 'nerd'?" Minion retorted as nicely as possible truly not fully understanding the stereotype behind either word.

"Minion, thank you for trying to help but let me handle this," Roxanne smiled at Minion and went around the chair to face her husband again. "You know a lot of super heroes wear glasses and they are pretty cool. Like what about Clark Kent?"

"Superman is such a tool though...and he doesn’t actually need corrective eye-wear..." Megamind just stared at the ground somehow frowning more.

"Peter Parker?"

"He can basically turn into a Spe-i-der and that pretty much cured his ophthalmology problem! Let's face it! I'm just a blue, big-headed freak..." Megamind covered his eyes under his glasses and just wished he had made a cool invention to fix this whole dilemma. He had been so busy trying to be Metrocity's hero and Roxanne's husband that he didn't have the time to study the effects of laser-eye surgery. He feared that his alien eyes might be too complex for human ophthalmologists and would have to find a way to correct the problem himself.

Roxanne growing tired of this silly discussion decided to hit him with her killing blow; her charm. "Look, hunny, do you know what I was most attracted to when I realized I loved you?"

"Um...my captivating charm and devilish smile? My sexy muscular, strong body?" Megamind uncovered his eyes and slightly lifted his head to where he looked straight into Roxanne's deep sparkling, sapphire eyes and gave a small humorous smile.

"Well, maybe a little of those things but mostly your amazing intelligence. And, yes, your geeky, nerdy attitude. I always found it so sexy when you would ramble on about your latest inventions or your newest ideas. Being called 'nerd' just means other people are jealous of you just so you know. And for me it means you are using that sexy brain of yours..." Roxanne gave a quick forceful kiss to Megamind's surprised lips. Roxanne pulled away and added with a seductive wink, "What I'm trying to say is I think those glasses look super hot on you." She then turned and made her way to their bedroom making sure to sashay her hips.  

Megamind's face did a complete 180 and showed nothing but pure ecstasy as his face turned a deep purple as he practically melted into his chair. Roxanne is so good to me...She always knows what to say to give me confidence and make me feel ‘normal’.

Roxanne made it to their bedroom door way and looked over her shoulder at her completely swooned husband, "Get in here now, Mr. Ritchie! Let’s see what these ‘nerdy’ glasses can do!" She made a soft, happy laugh with bright blushing cheeks and continued her way into their room.

Megamind practically fell out of his chair and stumbled on weak legs. He was barely able to catch himself, and his new glasses, as he hurriedly made his way to his waiting queen.

As the door slammed shut, a very confused and deeply blushing Minion mumbled, "Note to self: remember not to use the terms 'nerd' or 'geek' ever again." Then he made his way to the farthest corner of the 'No Longer Evil Lair' to give his friends some privacy.

(Author’s note: I know I could have used better super hero references here, but I wanted that part to be quick and silly. Also, in this story Megamind and Roxanne are married under the last name ‘Ritchie’. My reasoning behind it is that it was Megamind’s idea to go with this non-conventional way since Roxanne is the one thing that truly ties him to Earth. Everything about him is so alien and different [at least he thinks this], so this gave him a chance of feeling normal, even human. Roxanne very much wanted a cool alien last name but respected Megamind’s insistence on it and, honestly, she still wasn’t sure if he had a last name or if he even knew much about his alien culture [he still has a hard time discussing it]. As their love continues to grow, maybe he’ll open up to her more about a life he never got to experience on a far away planet and, then, he can finally, fully heal.) 💙

Hogfather by Terry Pratchett (Discworld. Death has to take over the duties of discworld’s version of Santa Claus in an attempt to keep the world from ending.)

Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett (Discworld. Death gets fired and decides to live as a human—as near to human as he can, at any rate. eventually he has to battle the New Death to save the discworld.)

Guards, Guards! by Terry Pratchett (Discworld. Sam Vimes, leader of the disgraced and dying Ankh-Morpork City Watch, regains his self-respect and his interest in life as he works to solve a mystery of who is summoning a dragon and killing off citizens of his city.)

The Bromeliad by Terry Pratchett (small ‘nomes’ live secretly in this world, hiding from humans. the perpetually out-of-his-depth and put-upon nome Masklin finds himself in charge, tasked with leading them to safety and finding their way home.)

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (an angel and a demon tasked with seeing that apocalypse happens as scheduled decide to try to avert it instead. completely and utterly fantastic.)

Long Dark Teatime of the Soul by Douglas Adams (murder mystery involving Norse Gods, record contracts, and the Ultimate Bubble Bath.)

The Thirteen Clocks by James Thurber (novella told like a fairy tale, full of wordplay and beauty and fun. this one just absolutely shines.)

The Gates by John Connolly (young boy, his dog, and an extremely minor demon try to stop the end of the world.)

The Infernals by John Connolly (sequel to The Gates, featuring the same characters.)

Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (a young lady is cursed to be old, decides to become cleaning lady for a wizard rumored to be dangerous but actually just vain, overdramatic, and irresponsible. so very fun and romantic.)

Farmer Giles of Ham by J.R.R. Tolkien (a local peasant finds himself unwillingly roped into facing a marauding dragon.)

Comedy

All of the P.G. Wodehouse books, particularly the Jeeves and Wooster series (wonderfully fun and lighthearted comedy set vaguely between the edwardian era and the 1920’s. Rich, cheerful, and kindhearted Bertie Wooster has a habit of accidentally getting engaged to girls he has no desire whatsoever to marry; his clever valet Jeeves gets him out of trouble every time.)

With One Lousy Free Packet of Seed by Lynne Truss (hilarious and surprisingly touching at the end. lots and lots shenanigans. really fun.)

Romantic Comedy

Cotillion by Georgette Heyer (romantic comedy, fake relationship, regency era.)

When a Man Marries by Mary Roberts Rhinehouse (romantic comedy with a stolen jewels mystery plot. cast of characters stuck in a house together.)

Romance

These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer (historical romance with intrigue and comedy. The main character crossdresses and, to me, reads as genderqueer. The love interest is basically a villain who accidentally becomes the hero. I LOVE IT.)

Her Every Wish by Courtney Milan (regency romance novella. hero is bisexual. subplot about bicycles being scandalous. this is the one that I have Roxanne give Megamind in Code: Safeword.)

The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan (regency romance, the last in the Brothers Sinister series, all of which are good. main character reads as autistic. her love interest is younger than she is; they’ve secretly presented her groundbreaking scientific work as his, so that people will take it seriously.)

When a Scott Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare (regency romance; main character has social anxiety and made up a fiancee years ago to get out of her impending social season. but now a man with the same name has shown up claiming to be this fiancee, and intending to marry her.)

Mystery

Behold, Here’s Poison by Georgette Heyer (1920’s murder mystery with comedy and romance. The characters are wonderful.)

Caribbean Mystery by Agatha Christie (murder mystery featuring elderly heroine Miss Marple, who seems fluffy and harmless but is really a sneaky, nosy, and terribly sharp woman. I love her.)

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie (murder mystery featuring detective Hercule Poirot. intricate and enjoyable.)

Death Comes As the End by Agatha Christie (murder mystery set in ancient egypt. both the mystery and the historical features are extremely well executed.)

Difficult to Categorize

Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Story by Leonie Swann (A group of sheep decide to solve the mystery of who killed their shepherd. Funny and moving. The point of view is amazingly well done.)

Watership Down by Richard Adams (A group of rabbits set out on a journey to establish a new home. The worldbuilding and characterization are fantastic.)

Kiln People by David Brin (science fiction mystery. amazing worldbuilding. One of the main characters is a robot who, due to a slight malfunction, has developed a personality and will of his own.)

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion (A love story set during the zombie apocalypse, between a young woman named Julie and a zombie known as R, who isn’t quite as dead as zombies are supposed to be. Horrifying and romantic and uplifting.)

Dreams of Sex and Stage Diving by Martin Millar (Main character Elfish is basically the living embodiment of ‘fuck you’. She’s a guitarist on a mission to claim the name Queen Mab for her—just at present nonexistent—band from her ex-boyfriend Mo.)

Keturah and Lord Death by Martine Leavitt (a young woman in the medieval era gets lost in the forest and nearly dies. When she meets Death, though, she convinces him to postpone her demise—she claims that love is stronger than death, and he tells her that if she can prove it by finding her true love within one day, he will spare her life. Full of joy and sorrow and love.)

The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury (A group of children go on a fantastic trip through time with a mysterious man called Moundshroud in an attempt to save the life of one of their friends. Fun and dark and beautiful.)

The Girl Who Owned a City by O.T. Nelson (An epidemic wipes out all of the adults in the world. Ten year old Lisa Nelson bands together a group of survivors and shapes them into a new society, with her at its head. Satisfying.)

Fantasy

The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley (Gorgeous worldbuilding, kidnapping, romance, magic, and adventure.)

The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle (The last of the Unicorns goes on a quest to find out what happened to the rest of her species. Fun and frightening and hauntingly beautiful.)

Transformation by Carol Berg (The Emperor’s New Groove for grown-ups. Formerly a magician and currently a slave, Seyonne finds new meaning in his life when he and careless, proud Prince Aleksander work together to defeat the demonic forces that threaten the kingdom. Slavery and freedom, loyalty and friendship. Intricate worldbuilding.)

War For the Oaks by Emma Bull (Urban fantasy. Eddie has just broken up with her boyfriend, and, in the process, broken up the band they both played in. She has enough problems of her own, without getting dragged into a war between the Seelie and Unseelie courts of the Fae.)

Young Adult Fantasy

So You Want to Be a Wizard by Diane Duane (Young adult fantasy adventure. Preteen protagonists Kit and Nita journey into a terrifying shadow world to fight a dark entity. One of my favorite depictions of magic of all time.)

Which Witch by Eva Ibbotson (The Great Evil Wizard Arriman has decided to take a bride! The members of the local witches’ coven are invited to a contest—whichever witch performs the most dark and wicked act of black magic will be Arriman’s bride. The young witch Belladonna is absolutely smitten with Arriman, and desperately wants to win the contest. The only problem is that Belladonna is a white witch.)

Megamind: the Novel by Lauren Alexander (A little darker and a bit more grown-up than the movie; still incredibly fun. It features additional scenes from Megamind and Roxanne’s developing romantic relationship.)

Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde (Teenage Kerry is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and ends up being taken captive by a group of people who are holding another person captive as well—a young man they insist is a vampire. Kerry thinks they’re crazy, and helps the boy escape…but it turns out they were actually right. And now she’s being held captive by a vampire on the run.)

Young Adult

Fat Kid Rules the World by K.L. Going (Depressed teenage protagonist Troy almost commits suicide, but is stopped by a homeless teenager named Curt, who is also a local punk rock legend. Curt convinces Troy to form a punk band with him, featuring Curt on guitar and Troy on drums…even though Troy can’t actually play the drums. funny and angry and deeply moving.)

The Undertaker’s Gone Bananas by Paul Zindel (Thriller. The misfit teenage protagonists are convinced that their neighbor murdered his wife, even though no one believes them. They set out to prove it.)

Older Children

The Secret Garden by Francis Hodgson Bernard (Recently orphaned, the disagreeable young Mary arrives at her uncle’s house—a house full of secrets and mysteries.)

A Little Princess by Francis Hodgson Bernard (Young, precocious, and strange Sara Crewe is sent to boarding school. When her father dies unexpectedly, leaving Sara a penniless orphan, the Headmistress forces Sara to work as a servant. Strength in adversity, the power of imagination, and an eventual happy ending.)

The Egypt Game by Zilpha Neatly Snyder (A group of children secretly play at being ancient Egyptians in a deserted lot. This one really captures the dangerous, wild, and intense feeling of childhood.)

Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix (adventure with young girl as heroine. genuinely creepy and exciting and so clever. my great-grandmother loved this one, too.)

The Witches by Roald Dahl (Young boy and his grandmother happen upon a convention of terrifying, evil witches.)

The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischmann (Spoiled Prince Brat and his whipping boy Jemmy run away together, much to Jemmy’s annoyance. Adventure and friendship.)

TvTropes in My Disney Fanfics

Sometimes when I’m bored I like to look up tv tropes and see which ones fit my (currently finished) fanfics. I kept them in a doc, and decided to share them today. It covers The Scarlet, Segreto, As Dawn Broke, The Nutcracker Prince, The Last Straw, and Love Like Lava.

If you haven’t read my stuff and are curious what they’re about, think of this as a promoted blurb.

The Scarlet

An AU Disney fanfic starring Mickey Mouse and the gang in an extremely loose retelling of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Written by the author behind Pirates Versus Privates, this is the second full-length Disney story she's written. Unlike PVP, this one focuses mainly on the animal characters you'd find in Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck cartoons and stories, as do the rest of her works.

In Steampunk France, Mickey is a poor orphan paperboy by day, with a gigantic crush on his childhood friend Duchess Minerva. By night, he's The Scarlet, an amazing swordsman who vows to help the helpless and prevent a “Third Bloody Sunday.” Daisy and her band of cohorts are planning a revolution to get revenge on the rich. Duke Fantome and his band of baddies are seeking to create a new rule over France. These and other threads intertwine, resulting in a climatic showdown between red and black.

Tropes:

Abhorrent Admirer: Mortimer towards Minnie. He can't, or won't, get the hint that Minnie wants absolutely nothing to do with him. It takes a scream and a slam of the door to the face for him to finally get it.

Accidental Kiss: Played with. Minnie offers to kiss The Scarlet for saving her, and while he's tempted, he can't go through with it. He intends to tell her so – until a child's ball smacks him in the back of his head, causing his mouth to mash with Minnie's. She thinks he was just being nervous with the kiss, and thus reciprocates.

And Now You Must Marry Me: Gladstone threatens Daisy into marriage. Played with, in that he honestly doesn't want to marry her either, but Fantome is forcing his hand.

Aren't You Going To Ravish Me?: Katarina, believing her good looks and the Scarlet's ladykiller persona combined will make him helpless before her. Instead, her seduction attempt is met with flat disappointment and a desperate escape. She's stunned, and then pissed.

Aristocrats Are Evil: Daisy believes this, and given some of their attitudes it's not hard to see why. But she eventually learns that they're just people, who can be bad, good, or somewhere in-between.

Asshole Victim: Gladstone, Mortimer.

As You Know: Ludwig explaining to Gyro their operations so the audience knows what they're doing. Lampshaded immediately by Gyro who asks why Ludwig is explaining what they already know. Ludwig replies he's been called Mr. Exposition.

Bad Boss: Fantome is more than willing to threaten, injure, and kill those working for him to get what he wants.

Battle Amongst The Flames: The Scarlet and Fantome's last duel takes place in a burning building.

Becoming The Mask: Daisy was, initially, only pretending to be Donald's friend so she could find a way to use his uncle for the sake of the revolution. But when she sees how kind he is and how deeply he loves his family, she not only becomes his real friend, she falls for him.

The Big Damn Kiss: When Minnie discovers that Mickey and the Scarlet are one and the same, [spoiler] he gets the kiss of a lifetime. Plus a whole lot extra.[spoiler]

Cannot Spit It Out: Mickey just can't tell Minnie he loves her...The Scarlet has an easier time.

Cats Are Mean: Pete and Katarina, the main cats in the story, are on the bad guys side.

Childhood Friend Romance: Mickey and Minnie.

Clark Kenting: Even though Mickey has a device that changes his voice, the “disguise” he wears is just a mask around his eyes. Lampshaded by Donald when he learns who the Scarlet is, as he's stunned that he never made the obvious connection.

Damsel In Distress: Minnie is this several times.

Dance Of Romance: Mickey, as the Scarlet, shares a ballroom dance with Minnie, flirting with her all the while.

Dirty Cop: Pete, the chief of police, and his subordinate Horace.

Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Horace loves Clarabelle, and the two manage to make a Heel Face Turn. Pete and Katarina, [spoiler]being related,[spoiler] also have this but it's put to the test when Fantome orders Pete to kill her after her failure.

Everyone Can See it: Amusingly, [spoiler] the Queen says this was the case with Mickey and Minnie's feelings even when they were kids.[spoiler]

Evil Genius: Fou is revealed to have been one. [spoiler] and still is.[spoiler]

Flashback: Minnie has a lengthy one, about the day she first met Mickey.

Freudian Slip: Minnie, struggling to distract Mickey, insists she has a sleep over with him. But she's so flustered it comes out as “I demand you sleep with me!” Subverted in a more innocent fashion when Donald pushes Scrooge back to be with his “fiends.” “You mean friends?” “I know what I said.”

Gibberish Of Love: Mickey is reduced to this whenever he tries to tell Minnie about his feelings. As the Scarlet, he can speak freely of how much she means to him.

Go Seduce My Archnemisis: Fantome seems to be fond of this trope. He sends Mortimer after Minnie, Gladstone after Daisy, and [spoiler] Katarina after The Scarlet.[spoiler] He's also amazingly bad at it, since none of the targets desire who's after them at all.

Green-Eyed Monster: Mickey nearly slips up about his alter ego when Mortimer is involved, even though Minnie makes it obviously clear she can't stand the snob. Even when he's on the job as the Scarlet, Mickey makes it clear how much he loathes Mortimer.

Happily Married : [spoiler] After the timeskip, Mickey and Minnie are this, as are Donald and Daisy.[spoiler]

Heel Face Turn: Clarabelle and Horace. Implied to be this with Pete and Katarina.

Honey Trap: Subverted. [spoiler] Katarina tries this on The Scarlet. It only works at the beginning because he believes the invitation was from Minnie. The second he sees who it really is, he's heading for the exit.[spoiler]

I Don't Want To Ruin Our Friendship: Ultimately what is preventing Mickey and Minnie from confessing their feelings.

Imagine Spot: Mickey is suggested to have one when he thinks the seductive invitation he received is from Minnie. Minnie is also implied to have one concerning her feelings for Mickey and the Scarlet, and for half a second considers something with the number three – and then IMMEDIATELY reprimands herself and gets off that train of thought.

Informed Attractiveness: Katarina is insulted by the Scarlet's rejection because supposedly no one has ever turned her down and she's the most beautiful woman in all of France. No evidence of either of this was stated or shown before – although it could just be part of her massive ego.

Inter-Class Romance: One of the sources of conflict between Mickey and Minnie's relationship, since it would be highly improper. Also occurs between Donald with Daisy, and Max with Roxanne.

I Was Told There Would Be Cake: When Mortimer, Horace, and Clarabelle are tasked with killing Duke Roger Rabbit, they find him eating cake with the Scarlet.

Kissed Keepsake: Mickey kisses the scarf Minnie gave him.

Light Is Not Good: Fantome is usually dressed in all white, as opposed to the Scarlet's dark colors. Fantome is absolutely the bad guy.

Love Epiphany: When Goldie, Brigetta, and Magica try to convince Daisy she could love Gladstone, their “suggestions” make her realize she's actually in love with Donald.

Loves My Alter Ego: Mickey assumes Minnie is in love with The Scarlet, as does Fantome. [spoiler] They're wrong. She truly loves Mickey.[spoiler]

Love Triangle: Mickey thinks it's this with his alter ago and Minnie. Gets worse with Mortimer going after Minnie and Daisy falling for the Scarlet.

Morally Bankrupt Banker: Slyvester Shyster.

Nice Hat: The Scarlet's got a pretty cool one.

Not Distracted By The Sexy: Katarina's seduction towards The Scarlet doesn't work. At all. He looks at her for maybe a second before leaving.

Not Good With Rejection: Mortimer and Gladstone handle theirs pretty badly, complete with French swears.

Paper-Thin Disguise: As mentioned in Clark Kenting, Mickey's “disguise” is really just a mask around his eyes.

Parental Abandonment: Given that Mickey is an orphan, you get this. Minnie's parents are said to constantly be traveling all over the world and are never home, treating their daughter more as a toy or a trophy than a blood relative.

Parental Substitute: Ludwig and Gyro are this towards Mickey.

Parents As People: Goofy is doing his best with Max, but sometimes his best just isn't good enough.

Protagonist Title: Mickey as The Scarlet.

Politically Incorrect Villain: You could blame the times, but the male villains can be pretty sexist. Fantome is heavily classist.

Post-Kiss Catatonia: After having a pretty long kiss with Minnie, Mickey makes it about three steps before falling face-first in a happy stupor.

Prince Charmless: Technically Dukes, but they are related to royalty – Fantome, Mortimer, and Gladstone (and eventually Fou) are shown to be royal pains.

Purple Is Powerful: Minnie's main color scheme is purple, and by the timeskip, [spoiler] she's a butt-kicking heroine named The Violet.[spoiler]

Quirky Miniboss Squad: Pete, Shyster, Horace and Clarabelle work for Fantome. Gladstone, Mortimer, [spoiler] Katarina and Fou [spoiler] join in as well.

Rapunzel Hair: Minnie's long locks go almost all the way down to her feet.

Rousing Speech: The Scarlet tends to give these whenever he has a big audience.

Sadistic Choice: Daisy can either marry Gladstone, dooming her to a life of misery and effectively killing the revolution since all of its members will have lost faith in her, or he can report all the members of the revolution to the police, and since they'll be seen as traitors to the crown, they'll most likely be executed.

Seduction-Proof Marriage: Even though he's not married to Minnie [spoiler]yet[spoiler], Mickey feels absolutely nothing for any other woman, even when they constantly throw themselves at his Scarlet alter ego.  

Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: When Fantome completely loses it upon the revelation his plans were stopped by a mere paperboy, the remaining villains decide to cut their losses and make a break for it.

Shipper With An Agenda: Subtle, but in one scene Minnie seems to support and encourage Donald and Daisy's getting together. [spoiler] Most likely because if a rich boy and a poor girl can be together, maybe a rich girl and a poor boy can too.[spoiler]

Show Some Leg: Katarina's attempt to seduce The Scarlet. It doesn't work.

Small Name, Big Ego: Mortimer. He thinks he's the most popular and well-known man alive. Nobody really knows who he is, nor cares, and Fantome himself needs a minute to remember about him upon his introduction.

Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace: Donald and The Scarlet interrupt the wedding via dropping down on a GIGANTIC church bell.

Shout Out: To Darkwing Duck in one quip.

Time Skip: The last scene of the last chapter takes place one year later.

Unwanted Harem: Scrooge has this with Goldie, Magica, and Brigetta.

Would Hit A Girl: The Scarlet isn't afraid to treat Clarabelle as roughly as he does his other enemies.

Villainous Breakdown: Fantome has this three times over, due to finding out the Scarlet's identity, [spoiler] being told that his master plan would mean no one would serve him, and all of France coming to Mickey's defense.[spoiler]

Would Hurt A Child: Fantome [spoiler] is revealed to have run down a child from the poorer part of town, via carriage, just to ignite a war between the poor and rich.[spoiler]

As Dawn Broke

An AU Disney fanfic starring Mickey Mouse and the gang. Written by the author behind Pirates Versus Privates, this is the fourth full-length Disney story she's written. The Sun Kingdom and the Moon Kingdom have only recently ended their centuries-long war, but communication between the two is forbidden. This doesn't stop Princess Minnie of the Moon Kingdom from inviting Prince Mickey of the Sun Kingdom to her birthday party. From then on, the two kingdoms will never be the same – love potions, floods, grandbabies, many different stories come together, but which one can stop the genocidal madness of a man obsessed with making history?

Accidentally Broke The MacGuffin: Where has the Sun Talisman been all this time? It turns that Mickey, as a child, thought it was a giant cookie and ate it.

The Alcoholic: Panchito.

All Amazons Want Hercules: Implied to be the reason Peg is attracted to Pete.

All Part Of The Show: Panchito convinces the Sun Kingdom that the near-collapse of the giant straw doll at the New Year's Festival was part of the show.

Amulet of Concentrated Awesome: The Moon and Sun Talismans.

And I Must Scream: It's shown that while the Queen [spoiler] was frozen solid, she still had her mind and could hear what was going on around her – like how much her daughter thinks her mother hates her.[spoiler]

And Now You Must Marry Me: Mortimer threatens Minnie – either she marries him or he'll drown the Sun Kingdom. [spoiler] He's planning to do it anyway.[spoiler]

Arranged Marriage: Minnie is to marry Mortimer, if he passes all the requirements. It's stated that this is a Moon Royalty tradition, as Queen Lune was also arranged to marry Minnie's father.

Badly Battered Babysitter: Horace suffers this thanks to Mickey.

Becoming The Mask: Millie flirts with Goofy to get his money, but falls for him for real.

Big Beautiful Woman: Clara Cluck.

Big Brother Instinct: Donald begins to feel this way towards his student, Minnie. Possibly also Goofy towards Mickey.

Big Entrance: Mickey brings an entire singing, dancing entourage as he heads into the Moon Kingdom for Minnie's birthday. It's pretty much a direct homage to Prince Ali from Aladdin.

Body Horror: Some of it shows up after Queen Lune is freed from her icy prison. [spoiler] It's stated she lost several fingers.[spoiler]

Reality Ensues: Peace between two warring factions isn't as easy as “love conquers all!” It requires reparations, cooperation, and real communication. Also, risking your entire kingdom over a girl you like and keeping it a secret is going to royally piss off some folks. And a happy drunk is probably drinking that heavily because of something not-so-happy – like, say, the real effects of a war, PTSD.

Rescue Romance: When Drake saves Morgana, and she sees he did so because he'd do it for anyone and not just because she's beautiful, she falls for him. The Nutcracker Prince

An AU Disney fanfic starring Donald Duck and the gang. Written by the author behind Pirates Versus Privates, this is the fifth full-length Disney story she's written. Unlike most of her stories, which focus on Mickey and Minnie as the hero/heroine and romance being the main subject, this one has Donald and Minnie as siblings being first and foremost, and family as the biggest theme.

In a retelling of the famous ballet/story, The Nutcracker, Donald and Minnie thought they were going to live with their uncle in a magical kingdom, only for him to refuse and leave them for years. When his letters stop coming, Minnie convinces Donald to go to the kingdom to find out what happened and why he wouldn't take them in. Donald believes nothing but heartbreak and lies await them – only to discover something much worse on the horizon.

An AU Disney fanfic starring Mickey Mouse and the gang. Written by the author behind Pirates Versus Privates, this is the sixth full-length Disney story she's written. This time it's a take on classic Greek mythology, with Minnie as Aphrodite and Mickey as Hephaestus. As a newly awakened goddess, Minnie tries to understand her place in the world, where Mickey, believing role in life is to always be rejected, shuns everyone. The goddess of love falls for him instantly, but it turns out he hates her. What better way to start a relationship than by lying about who you are? Not only that, but it's got Pygmalion-Goofy, Persephone-Daisy, and Hades-Donald. It's about love, loss, acceptance, and the occasional mermaid.

Abhorrent Admirer: Minnie has her own Unwanted Harem with Gladstone, Mortimer, Pete, and (somewhat) Zeus.

Age-Gap Romance: Played with. Donald and Mickey are, technically, hundreds of years older than their female love interests. Also confusingly lampshaded with Agalma, as she wonders if it counts that she used to be marble, so theoretically she could be centuries older than Goofy.

The Alcoholic: Mortimer as Dyonsis. Played with in that as a god, he technically can't get drunk, but he sure does act like it.

Arranged Marriage: Hera tries to make one for Minnie, and it backfires spectacularly.

The Big Damn Kiss: Minnie, as the goddess of love, has a pretty powerful one. It sends such strong waves of love all across the world that it causes couples to propose, love to be requited, poems written, etc.

It’s In The Evidence (Part 5)

THIS TOOK ME SO LONG TO DO AND I AM SO SORRY LIFE SUCKS

Cue the DUN DUN DUUUUN music.

         Several months had passed and things had fallen into a pattern it seemed.  Pennywise had kept out of my sight even though I was always investigating him. At times he would visit me in my dreams, taunting me or mocking me.  My year was running up and I wasn’t sure if he would vanish at any time which was putting me on edge.  My home had become covered in history papers from the pattern of missing people and death. Robert and I were doing well though. He had been talking about moving in once I was done with my research.  The idea gave me butterflies and I admit I was nervous, but I was happy he was just as eager about our relationship I was.  

         I had come home from work that even and pulled up a book detailing businesses history. Whenever I went through a book I had the habit of skimming until something caught my eye and then read the whole book.  I was sipping my hot chocolate when I noticed something.  There, detailing a brewery, was Robert.  There was a photograph and Robert stood in between a group of people. Slowly, I flipped the page which was a bunch of signatures.  I reached over to a birthday card he had given me and stared at the signature at the bottom.  My eyes glanced back and forth.  They matched, to the loops, to the slashes.  To everything.  I looked at the year again to the business and I felt my heart skipping a beat. Robert would either be a really old man or dead.  

        So many thoughts began to race through my head, but I needed to control my emotions.  I had learned that Pennywise would come when I was panicking, afraid, or horrified.  He always appeared in my nightmares or if a scary movie was really getting to me.  I really love horror gore films so that dragged a bit.  I let out a heavy sigh as I settled my books back on the shelves after several more hours of research.  Robert’s name had showed up several more times.  He had told me that he was the only person of his family to be in Derry.  The only one to decide to move to the small town and that the others were gone.  I sat on my couch, elbows propped on my knees as I leaned forward and pressed my fingers to my lips as they were folded up in one another.  I had to control the things I was feeling.  Control was so hard at this point though.  I had come to adore Robert, love him dearly.  Could he really be who I thought he was?  Pennywise, that damn Dancing Clown.  I inhaled and exhaled a large breath to ease myself.  I can’t let Pennywise know.  I have to make sure Robert still thinks everything is picture perfect between the two of us.  Part of me felt disgusted knowing that the person I had been making love to be a wolf in disguise.  Monster in human skin.  I noticed the time on the clock and headed off to bed after a shower.  Part of me wish I hadn’t as it was another night with Pennywise invading my dreams.  Though this time was different.

        “Oh, little one.”  Pennywise’s voice echoed in soft whispers followed by a single laugh. “Little one.”  That echo felt as if it ran over my body, sending a shiver down my spine has a floated in the darkness.  “Time to float, little one.”

         Light began to pour through from different areas. I looked around and that’s when I realized they were uncovered manholes and sewer drains.  My feet landed gently on the ground and I began to walk forward.

         “Sweet, little one.  Let me make you happy.”  His words hissed next to my ears.  I saw large arms coming from my sides and suddenly clasp me to a sturdy surface.  I struggled against the grip and I felt my back vibrating as Pennywise chuckled.  “Oh, silly girl.  Silly, silly.”  My head snapped back to see that I was pressed to his chest.  

         “What do you want from me?”  I grunted as I continued to try to break free.

         “You look like you need a hug is all.  You’re so stressed out trying to find me, get rid of me and all.”  He laughed again as he lowered his head right next to mine.  “You aren’t like everyone else.  You aren’t afraid of me.  Everyone ignores ole Pennywise when something horrible happens but no, not you.”  One of his hands turned my face to the side so I would look directly at him.  I may have been dreaming but my heart was beating so fast as our faces were so close. “You’re a smart gal.  A naughty gal too.  There’s also something inside you that isn’t quite right.”  His eyes went from a pale blue to a golden yellow. “Why not join old Pennywise?  We could have so much fun together. So.  Much.  Fun.”  

         With the last word leaving his lips he pressed them to mine.  My struggling stopped as I felt a surge of warmth wash over me.  One of his arms stayed firmly around me, wrapped underneath my breasts.  The other slid slowly to my neck.  His large hands easily covered my entire throat.  He began to slowly squeeze, and I stifled back a moan as he got to as tight as I loved it.  I felt something hard pressing into my lower back.  And then it wiggled making me gasps.  Pennywise chuckled as he pulled away from my lips.  

         “Find me and come play.  Let me give you what you desire.”  His words echoed throughout the sewer as it faded away.

         He vanished into thin air as I jerked myself around one final time.  The lights began to fade away and soon I was left back in the dark.  My feet no longer touched the ground as I began to float in nothingness.  The rest of my sleep went undisturbed.  I only woke up when my phone rang.  It was Robert.

         “Mmm hello honey.”  I rolled over in my bed as I put the phone to my ear.

         “Just wake up?”  He softly laughed and ended it with a small sigh.  “I’m gonna be coming over.  With food.”

         “Aw aren’t you the sweetest.  Yeah, I just woke up.  I’ll make sure not to look like a mess when you get here.”  I giggled as I sat up in bed, flinging the blanket over me.

        “You know I think you’re the most beautiful thing in this universe, even when you have fresh bedhead and dark circles.”  I heard the dinging of a door opening.  “I’ll see you in a bit hun.  I love ya.”

        “I love ya too.”  I pressed the hang up button and set my phone down.

        My hand rubbed my face as I tried to sort through so many emotions.  Despite discovering what I did, I still loved Robert.  I couldn’t help but to still imagine a future with him but I knew he wasn’t human.  He wasn’t who I thought he was.  A shaky breath left me as I got up from my bed.  I had finally found happiness but now it felt as if it was crashing down around me.  I slipped on a black maxi dress after I put on a pair of underwear and a bra.  I made my way to the bathroom to make my hair and face not look like I had just woken up from hibernation.  When I was done I opened the medicine cabinet to take my vitamin.  I shut the door and there stood behind me in the mirror was Pennywise.  I let out a sigh as I stared at him.

         “What do you want?”  I let annoyance and anger fill my voice but kept my mind on lock down, so he couldn’t figure out I knew the truth.  

         “The same thing I say every time you ask this question.”  He chuckled, and I flung myself around to see him actually there behind me.

         “Why the hell do you want me!?”  I couldn’t help but to yell this time.  I took in a deep breath as I gripped onto the sink.

         “Because you are special.”  His hand reached out to me, landing on the side of my face.  “You’re a bit like me.  There’s a bit of a monster inside you.”  My eyes widened, and he let out a cackling laugh.  “Oh, the things you’ve done Roxanne.  Is that why you do what you do?  So, you can get away with the things you do?  Hmm?”  His face was leaning in closer to me as his eyes turned yellow.  “You aren’t innocent Roxxie.  Just because you get rid of those who do evil doesn’t make you good. Especially when you strap them down, inject them with different things and experiment on them until they die slow and painful deaths.”

         “They deserved it.”  I managed to speak out finally.  “They were murderers, sex traffickers, and other horrible things.  They all deserved it.  The people you kill and eat,” he had only gotten an inch away from my face, “they are innocent.”

         “A creature has to eat too Roxanne.” Pennywise shrugged.  “We both enjoy it though.  We’re more alike than you think.  Give it some thought little one.”  His lips pressed into mine as he swiftly picked me up to set me on the sink.  “I need a Queen and we both know you can’t kill me.  Or even want to kill me.”  He chuckled as he kissed me harder.  

         One of his large hands was gripping the back of my head while the other was wrapped around my torso.  Truth me told, he didn’t have to keep me locked in place.  This had become so common it seemed whenever he would show up.  I wanted to fight but something deep inside me held me back.  Something in me wanted this.  Wanted him.  Wanted whatever he wanted to give me.  Wanted to be with him.  The door bell rang as he pulled himself away.  With a sly grin on his face he walked out the door, vanishing.  Quickly I made brushed my hair again and answered the door.  Robert came in with a large grin on his face while carrying a bag of Chinese food.

         “Got you the usual my dear.  Sorry I took so long.  I stopped by the library to check out some movies for us to watch.”  He held up the other bag that had the library’s logo on it.  “I figured you’d like a relaxing day.”

         “You’re too sweet Robert, I swear.”  I giggled softly as I got plates from the kitchen.

         I watched him as he set up the first movie for us to watch.  I loved Robert so much and even though I knew the secret I couldn’t tear myself away from him.  I wanted nothing more than a life with him but that would mean a life with Pennywise as well.  A soft sigh left me as I got us drinks.  Pennywise, and thus Robert, both knew my secret.  I thought coming to Derry would let me run away from all the darkness I left behind but, no.  Pennywise was going to remind me over and over that I too was a murderer.

[9:50 PM] Nicool: Poppy required two enchanted canes to help her take more than a few steps, and for the first time she wasn’t the least bit concerned about how they might make her appear as she made her way up onto a small conjured stage. “Bitches, listen up!” she shouted to the crowd, not even bothering to use a Sonorus charm. “A lotta shit’s gone down but now is not the time to be sappy! Have a fucking drink, have another for the little lost shits that came back to us, and enjoy the night! Merlin knows I will, and I’m not going to  be the only hungover fuck tomorrow." [9:59 PM] Raluca Marks: "Another successful Head Girl speech," Alex nodded appreciatively, though it did sound slightly sarcastic. It wasn't. Nerissa had nothing but praise words for Poppy's speeches as authority. "Do you want to do shots?" [10:01 PM] Nicool: Poppy leaned over and placed the canes on the floor, swinging herself out and just barely managing to land and not very steadily. She was already glaring in case anyone did try to offer aid, but it quickly slipped into a smile at Alexzander's question. "If you were ever told there's no stupid questions you're fucking wrong. Let's go." [10:04 PM] Raluca Marks: "What? You don't want to-?" Alex checked, confused and misunderstanding her reaction. He stretched out a hand for Poppy to grab in case she needed support walking. [10:05 PM] Nicool: Poppy scoffed and simply kept moving as fast as she could toward where the drinks were set out. [10:08 PM] Raluca Marks: He didn't know what to do with his hand so he simply shoved it in his pocket. "What shot do you want? There are mor-" he started explaining and then realized she probably knew all that better than him. [10:12 PM] Nicool: "Red currant rum," she stated, speaking to both Alex and the person behind the bar. "Been a while and it's a special occasion." [10:13 PM] Mistress of Evil: Scorpius had been considering the stage himself, more out of obligation rather desire to say more than the generic yet enthusiastic welcomes he had fired off to people as they arrived when he saw Poppy heading there herself and hung back, more interested in seeing her walking with her cnaes and even navigating the stairs, proud almost like it was his victory. He hangs back and joins the few people that clap or yell agreement to get drunk. He was going to go over and talk to her if Beth was not a late person who typed a few lines and got distracted by something else and now is late and doesn't want to interrupt friend time so he  tells the bartender to serve Poppy and whoever walks up with her first, vouching she's eighteen even though he's not sure, and to slip a note from him (Finally remembered how to walk?) under her first drink. Then he wanders around mingling. [10:13 PM] Raluca Marks: "Is it bad?" he frowned, looking at the shot glass as the elf filled it eagerly and cheerfully. [10:15 PM] Rea of Sunshine: I'm sure all of mine are present and mingling though I can't ensure my presence as I just took all my meds. [10:16 PM] Lynn the Queen: Diana didn't feel comfortable in the bar, as the setting was one she wasn't used to, showing up only because it was Scorpius' welcome back party. [10:19 PM] Lynn the Queen: Marzia is already at her third shot, enjoying life tbh [10:19 PM] Nicool: Poppy barely paid attention as the drink was poured, shaking her head vehemently. "Better than most firewhisky. Just not always cheaper. Try some. Rum's a weak bitch's drink but it's a decent way to start." She reached out to down the shot before waiting to see if Alex might order one. Glancing at the note, she grinned a little and stuffed it into her pocket without much discretion as she tried to keep her cane that had been in that hand from falling. [10:26 PM] emmalemma: Johanna made her way over to the bar because it looked like Marzia was having fun. "Mar! What are you drinking?!" [10:26 PM] Mistress of Evil: Scorpius zeroes in on lost Diana and intercepts her before Colin sees her to discourage her further. "Hey, you made it. Let me get you a drink. He'd barely managed to get out of work, but everyone was celebrating and it seemed fitting to allow him time off for this. He trips on his way to the refreshments. [10:29 PM] Mistress of Evil: Olivier is there and a few shots in but unlike Marzia he's not high on life but rather feeling worse for the shots, angry at the celebrating without acknowledgment that, no, not everyone is home, which begs the question of why he came in the first place, knowing what the party would be like [10:30 PM] Raluca Marks: ((brbing)) [10:31 PM] Rea of Sunshine: Melinda is most likely right next to Olivier, scowling and sipping slowly at her wine, feeling just about the same exact way as him. [10:32 PM] Rea of Sunshine: Kate is trying to give Scorpius distance to reconnect with everyone else he missed even if she is a little paranoid and her heart skips a beat every time she can't spot him. Thus you can probably find her at the bar with a jack and coke or something of the like. [10:33 PM] Mistress of Evil: "Ed!" Roxanne comes over, fringe on her sleeves flapping and giving her wings. "I feel like I haven't seen you in forever." She dives in to steady him thinking he's going to fall when he trips, and come closer to falling over herself. "Fucking heels" [10:34 PM] Rea of Sunshine: Mila is most likely possessively glued to Kai's side but who knows honestly, she might also be getting trashed idk [10:34 PM] Rea of Sunshine: Clarke and Teddy are staying respectively in the back, sipping at their drinks and being very keenly observant in their own ways. [10:35 PM] emmalemma: Delphina is sitting at a high top a little far from the bar. It's not her usual scene, but she's come to like Nott Scorpions and it's refreshing to be around so many people for the first time in a while. [10:36 PM] Nicool: Ed laughed as he watched Roxanne sail toward him, managing to catch himself before he fully face-planted. "H-hey, sorry, I forgot about that little bump there." There was no bump, but his feet liked to thing there was. "Uh, yeah, work's been busy." There's a bit of dust on his heavy robe that he's wearing over his Unspeakable robes still, probably from when he was examining the prophecies from centuries ago. "How are you? It's exciting, isn't it? It's really great to have good news right now." [10:36 PM] emmalemma: Fred goes over to Teddy, not having forgotten the other night at the bar but trying not to be too obviously concerned. "Hey, Teddy, how's it going?" [10:38 PM] Raluca Marks: He drank the shot without stopping but it burned and rum felt terrible down his throat as he wasn't used to it. Alex shook his head and then laughed at Poppy. Diana smiled at him, relieved to see him as she was overwhelmed by the amount of people and how crowded it was. "You have champagne, right? Or white wine?" He's sober, nursing the old fashioned in his glass slowly, having realized alcohol only amplified the pain of his grieving. Thank goodness," Delphina said happily. "I was hoping you'd come too. Colin is fun, but it's his club so he has a lot of things to attend to. But if you have to leave early I completely understand. I'm a bit swamped with schoolwork too, to be honest." She manages not to set her sleeve or anyone she passes on fire and holds the drink out to the first familiar face that catches her eye. "Make a wish before all the alcohol burns off." [11:46 PM] Mistress of Evil: Noah blends into the party a few beats after Colin had, his typical very up and very friendly to everyone he passes, strangers like old friends and people he's met several times before treated like strangers and assumed to be after a story or an autograph until he finds himself too near Teddy and the first instinctive glow of recognition gets overthrown by a shudder as the lighting plays off Teddy's face in a different way recalling other memories with the familiar face and he diverts his path suddenly, ducking through people and retreating to a corner, ending up at Mia and Del's hightop. "Mrs. Marks," the words slur a bit to make the greeting plural. "How's your nights, both of you? I'm surprised to see you here, again, both of you." [11:48 PM] emmalemma: "It's fun! Get me one!" Jo said, following Marzia once she saw the flaming drinks. Aesthetic is important," Roxanne uttered words that would have made her younger self scoff and blew out the fire on her own before handing the drink to Marzia. She beamed at Jo. "Coming right up. Accio millionnaire! WATCH OUT!" The last is yelled as a courtesy as the flaming drink shoots across the air, likely to spill and nearly missing singing a few people. She doesn't watch the drink's progress though or hear Jo's second comment, because she's already turned her attention to Colin with a shine in her eyes. "Oh look, it already worked. Hey there." [11:55 PM] Mistress of Evil: "What are we making up for?" Roxanne looks back and forth between Jo and Colin. wondering what she missed and suddenly a touch less happy. [11:55 PM] Raluca Marks: "You're the absolute sweetest but I am not a cocktail and neither am I a millionaire. That's a lot of galleons," he gave her one of his best smirks. "We'll get there slowly." [11:55 PM] emmalemma: Johanna rolled her eyes. "I'm so not drunk enough for this." She chugged half of the drink and set it back on the bar. "Babe!" he says, a little slowly, already slightly drunk because he's augustus wood and has a drinking problem, as well as being dumb problem, which is why his next line is: "I've been whomping my willow thinking about you." [11:58 PM] Raluca Marks: Colin looks helplessly at Roxanne and shrugs. "You'll find me when you need me. I don't want anybody to feel uncomfortable tonight." [11:58 PM] Mistress of Evil: Noah shrugged off Delphina's words, trying to shake off the weight that kept settling on his chest along with it. He  sniffed and pinched the bridge of his nose, and shook his head. "I am perfectly fine. The good ones can't be kept down long, which is why I suppose you're here too." Don't go. Stay. What's going on? What the fuck, Jo?" Roxanne tried to grab Colin's arm as he left, alternating between a questioning look for him and a glare back at Jo. "What the hell happened?" [12:02 AM] emmalemma: Delphina grinned. "Guess so. Pull up a chair. There's definitely room. Right, Mia?" She didn't wait for an answer before turning back to Noah. "There's lots to tell you. "Okay, Johanna, you're... whatever you want to be. Right? Right. You're right. Just... don't think about it and have fun. Drinks on the house. I'll... I'll go. Don't worry about it, Roxanne. I'll go." She physically recoiled a bit and grabbed Colin's arm again, now a bit for her support as well as his, repeating a shocked. "What the /fuck/ Jo? You can't say shit like that. You have no idea....You're out of line and you need to get out of here. I'll go with you, listen to what you have to say or whatever, but I'm not going to let you talk shit like this in public /in Colin's bar in front of all our friends/." [12:15 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Kai is more than happy to stay glued to Mila, is twitchy being out and about at all, and mumbles into her hair, "do something, Mils, I'm having trouble enjoying all these assholes milking my not being locked up anymore as an excuse to get hammered. You're shitfaced and embarrassing yourself--which I love, a sight worth inviting you here tonight for sure--but the lady clearly wants you to bugger off" [12:19 AM] emmalemma: Johanna shook her head angrily. "I'm not talking shit, it's just the truth. He needs to leave. I was having fun. I didn't want to make this night all about drama. It was supposed to be fun. His fault for showing his face here." [12:20 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: "Smart, you're very smart." He addresses the bartender, "Can we have like...four, of whatever you've got that's guaranteed to get us shitfaced as fast as physically possible." He winces when Alex comes running up, glances over at him before resting his forearms on the bar and sighing heavily. "Well, go on then. Elighten me, Archer. Why was I kidnapped?" [12:21 AM] Rea of Sunshine: Mila's head whips in the direction of Alex's voice, momentarily distracted from getting a drink and immediately annoyed. She's glad Kai already ordered, because she's too busy glaring daggers at Alex to think about drinks anymore. [12:22 AM] Raluca Marks: Victoire actually laughed briefly at how ridiculous it was, but then she returned to her resting bitch face and leaned in somewhat close, but not close enough to give him any ideas, to whisper to him a piece of advice, still talking all casually. "He's not wrong. I'm trying to pick up a /man/ and you're ten years too early and blocking the view." [12:23 AM] Raluca Marks: "Oh, hey, Mila!" he raises a hand and nods her way before focusing on /the real conversation/. "No, not just you. All of you. I think this is a pattern because it has to do something with your element! Hear me out!" [12:23 AM] Raluca Marks: ((you should hear out the theory, it's gold)) [12:24 AM] areej ur fave xo: "The only thing funny about Colin is his fuckin' haircut." The desired effect was to get her to laugh, and it'd actually worked. A smirk tugged at his lips, but it faltered only slightly as she spoke. He wasn't in the right mental state to make a quip that made much sense (aka im too tired to make a quip that makes much sense), so settled with a, "Hey, didn't anyone tell you age is just a number? I am the view." [12:25 AM] Rea of Sunshine: When the shots arrive, Mila immediately downs two of the four, grimacing only slightly at the strength of the alcohol's taste before she points a finger in Alex's direction. "What the fuck is wrong with you, yeah? Do you really think 'e wants to talk about the shit e's been through right now? Leave 'im the 'ell alone." [12:26 AM] Mistress of Evil: "/You/ need to leave. This is /his/ bar and if you have a problem. You're the one that's leaving. He doesn't want trouble. I have no such problem. But you I don't want to have a problem with despite how very difficult you're making it right now because I trust you and you aren't normally ranting like fucking psycho so shut up a second and come somewhere private with me and explain why you are saying these things or continue on like this and you might end up like one of those cocktails. I have no problem being arrested." [12:26 AM] Mistress of Evil: (That was clearly Roxanne) [12:28 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Kai downs his first drink, winces at the taste and mumbles 'this better be fucking good' before he presses his other glass into Mila's hand, murmuring into her ear 'don't kill him, Mils, Scorpius doesn't need to deal with the mess' before he looks straight at Alex. 'Yes? Come on, out with it. You're cutting into our plans to get really fucking wasted.' [12:28 AM] emmalemma: "Godric, Roxanne, you're the fucking psycho here. Yeah. Let's go talk. Obviously your ears don't work or something when your boyfriend's around." [12:30 AM] Raluca Marks: "No, I am the view, kid," she sighed and took another sip of her drink, amused by how arrogant and self-assured the boy in front of her was despite clearly being like a child in a wheelchair chasing after a train. [12:31 AM] Raluca Marks: Alex rolled his eyes and waved a hand dismissively as he saw no excitement or cooperation. "Whatever. You don't want to know and I won't fight to tell you. But /I know/. Have a good night. Whatever. Bye, Mila." [12:31 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Tris moves to join Colin as soon as he sees him, elbows him in the ribs and smiles. "I think you're supposed to look happy when your best friend comes back from being kidnapped for a couple of months, you know." [12:32 AM] Mistress of Evil: "Merlin, take a hint," Scorpius groaned. "Plenty of other girls who are just lining up to get screwed and screwed over by you. Go shoot your fish in the barrel and leave the big fish alone." He looked to Victoire, "You want me to step off too and I will. I have some actual trouble over there I am....trying to avoid actually but sound s like I should be handling. It's not  don't think you can handle it. Clearing out assholes is part of running the place and I'm trying to get back to normal." [12:33 AM] Nicool: Poppy took another shot, which involved another desperate grasp at her falling cane afterward, and then turned toward the dance floor as she surveyed the scene to see who she should go bother next. [12:33 AM] Raluca Marks: "Four months and a half," he smiled when Tristan approached him, wanting to argue that he was feeling happy because his insides were bouncing, but unable to, because the stabbed-in-the-back feeling was intensifying by the minute. "Tristan, I'm very happy. I'm happy you're here. You're here! Wow! How /are/ you?" [12:34 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Kai: "No no, I want to know. Out with it. Why were we kidnapped, Alex? What was I cursed from behind and locked in a basement for months? Why did I have to talk to people who casually talked about visiting my brothers, who kept adding to their collection like we were decorative /fucking/ plates? Come on, Archer. Enlighten me. I want to fucking know." He pushes empty shot glasses back toward the bartender, indicating for them to be filled again; and as soon as they are, downs two. [12:34 AM] Raluca Marks: "Big fish? You're calling me fat..." Victoire muttered, shaking her head although never in her wildest dreams could she have meant it except for the theatrics. "Tell me about your trouble. I'm not doing any picking up and we established I'm intrigued," she spoke again to Scorpius, although it sounded more like a big sister humoring her little brother than a flirting scene. [12:35 AM] Nicool: Ed ordered probably his second or third beer from the bar, he always lost count after one so it didn't matter. Without much warning, he hopped up on the bar and crossed his legs as he started to sip at the drink and look around with a smile on his face at the sight of so many people coming together for a joyful moment for once. [12:35 AM] Lynn the Queen: Seeing Poppy, Lucy walked over to her. "I haven't seen you in so long! How are you?" [12:35 AM] Rea of Sunshine: Mila grips Kai's freem arm and glares more daggers at Alex. "See? This is why you don't bring this sor' of shit up. Now 'e's all worked up abou' it." [12:36 AM] Mistress of Evil: Roxanne scans her eyes around to see where Colin got off to, sees Tristan talking to him and decides he's in good enough hands then nods to Johanna and just walks off with a terse, "Follow me." [12:36 AM] Nicool: Poppy grinned at the sight of Lucy and stuck a hand out to grip the girl's shoulder, her cane falling to the ground. "That's what happens when you're off fucking the wizard world's biggest star. Or assisting him, whatever. I'm great, barely walking, how are you?" [12:36 AM] Raluca Marks: Alexzander sighed, exhausted and drained from the interaction with the most intense and frustrating people he knew. "Then I'll shut up. I'm good with just me knowing. I said whatever. Good night," he turned on his heels and walked back to his initial spot. [12:36 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Tris: "I'm great. I'm....happier than I've been in a really long time. It almost feels too good to be true, having gone so long without personally suffering anything awful." He smiles sardonically. "But we're not talking about me. I'm boring. You don't look very happy, and I'm sure you remember that when you divorced my sister you forgot to divorce me too; so out with it. What's wrong?" [12:37 AM] Rea of Sunshine: Feeling uncomfortable, Kate can't help but breathe a sigh of relief when, in her nonchalant scanning, she happens to spy Ed. Walking over, she held up a drink and laughed. "Good view up there?" [12:37 AM] emmalemma: "I took self-defense classes the summer before fourth year, you know. I know how to Stun people without a wand," she said, following Roxanne. "So don't you dare try anything." [12:37 AM] areej ur fave xo: While the kid part was probably meant to annoy him, it just widened the grin on his face. "You are. And a damn beautiful view, too." Though Scorpius had a point, Augustus was determined. "Jesus, getting laid was so much easier when you weren't around," he said, whispering (probably too loudly) to Scorpius, rolling his eyes. [12:37 AM] Nicool: Mia ordered a glass of wine, something she probably would've never done a year before, and began to sip at it slowly as she looked around for someone familiar but not annoying - or she'd even take someone who was annoying to her at the moment. [12:38 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Kai: He pulls a face, and looks at Mila. "I remember him being much more confrontational before. It's disappointing; arguing with him was always sort of entertaining." [12:38 AM] Raluca Marks: Lara looked at her gin and immediately for backup when she spotted Mia right beside her, but she figured nothing bad could happen publicly and maybe Mia didn't even want to approach her to begin with. [12:38 AM] Lynn the Queen: "I'm so sick of those rumors."  Lucy groaned, rolling her eyes. Especially since they weren't true. "Did the healers say when you'd be able to walk without the cruches? I'm still dealing with what happend to Al and my uncle, but it's getting easier." [12:38 AM] Nicool: Ed looked down at Kate with a perplexed expression before nodding finally. "Yeah, it's the best place to see the most smiling faces." It was a completely genuine statement before he took another sip of his beer, unable to recall the last time he was able to drink his favorite beverage so casually. [12:39 AM] Rea of Sunshine: Mila simply rolls her eyes, not up for Alex's drama, and takes another shot once the glasses are refilled. Raising a brow at Kai, she snorts. "The arse is always confrontational. Count your fucking blessings." [12:40 AM] Nicool: Poppy shrugged dramatically as she summoned her cane back up to her, eyes widening only slightly as she suddenly recalled what had happened on Christmas Day aside from her own small miracle. "You'll be able to forget it one day." [12:40 AM] emmalemma: Fred walked over to Ed and Kate. "Hey, sorry to interrupt, have either of you seen Minnie?" [12:41 AM] Rea of Sunshine: Kate smiles in turn, looking around behind her again for a moment. "It's good to see people smiling again. It's good to see people in general." Turning her gaze back up to him, her brows furrow slightly as she reached out to shake his knee side to side a bit. "Including /you/. How have you been? I haven't seen you in... well, it's been a while." [12:42 AM] Raluca Marks: Tristan brought up Mercy which topped the feeling of emptiness, so Colin hid his face in his palms for a moment before emerging back up with a smile that didn't even look feigned. Tristan deserved a real smile, after all. "I'd never want to divorce you. I'll probably but not hopefully be the only man to ever tell you this so seize the moment. You could never be boring, don't be ridiculous. You're a true Lavrentyev, even with all the niceness and good heart." It was a cruel, bitter joke, but he allowed himself one. He wasn't even bitter. [12:42 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Kai: He grins at her, and pulls on one of her curls. "You're the only blessing at this fucking party, Mils, and you know that." [12:43 AM] Rea of Sunshine: With an over-exaggerated roll of her eyes, she groans, handing him another shot. "Shut up and drink, you arse. I'm no blessing." [12:43 AM] Lynn the Queen: "I don't think I will." Lucy shook her head. "Let's change the subject please. I came here to have fun." [12:44 AM] Nicool: Ed looked over at Fred, smiling all throughout except for a slight dip in the corners of his lips when the question registered. "No, sorry," he replied, entirely apologetic as if it was his fault she couldn't be found. He looked down at Kate a bit suddenly when she shook his knee, as if he hadn't realized he was high enough up for someone to do that. Sometimes he liked to sit this way on kitchen counters and tables, but the bar counter  was just a little higher. "I"m good. Work's just been busy. How's Club Penguin? Are you still there?" [12:45 AM] Nicool: Poppy reached out again to grab one of Lucy's shoulders and then motioned toward the dance floor, barely able to keep her balance the whole time. "Let's dance, then, bitch!" [12:45 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Tris: He only gets more concerned while Colin talks, frowning at him, and replies quietly. "Please tell me what's wrong, Colin. You're stranger than usual, and it's worrying me." He tries a brief smile, but it still looks worried. [12:47 AM] Mistress of Evil: "See, that's why I didn't go for white whale," Scorpius relaxed as her saw the fight on the other side of the bar winding down before it took off and gave Victoire his full attentiion. "Big fish, the one you tell stories about." He gave a light "Ha" when Gus said it was easier getting laid when he wasn't around and diverted his focus for just a minute to say, "Of course. You can't take competition, even the disappearing man on his death bed makes you look pathetic in comparision." He grinned sheepishly at Victoire, "Not that it's a competition here. That's not my intention." Was it really not though? Entirely not? "I have..." A fiancee? Not any longer as far as he was concerned. He'd been about to say girlfriend actually, but he stopped and just said, "My hands full right now. Tell you about my troubles? And get them printed you mean? I can be convinced." [12:47 AM] Rea of Sunshine: "I'm sorry, I haven't either," Kate follows, eyes showing concern. "I can let you know if I catch a glimpse of her, though?" she offers in turn, before going back to Ed. "That's good to hear. I'm doing great. Definitely still at Club Penguin. There wouldn't be a Club Penguin without me, after all," she chuckles. [12:50 AM] Raluca Marks: Colin smiles softly, not to worry Tristan but also because his concern was so pure and flattering and he honestly wanted to kiss the boy on his cheeks for being so sweet despite everything. It was adorable. "I'm stranger than usual? Perhaps just evolving into a new level of strange. Don't worry about it, Tris. If my life isn't good, then whose?" [12:50 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Kai: "My favourite curse, then, fuck it. Drinking is good, let's...let's do that." He orders a couple more drinks, things that'll last longer than the shots did. "And then when we're finished being assholes and getting drunk we'll leave, yeah?" There's a thread of vulnerability in his voice that he wouldn't let anyone other than her hear, and he keeps his eyes on his drink but clutches at a fold of her skirt in the concealed space between them. [12:52 AM] Nicool: Ed laughed and nodded along. "I guess Natalie wouldn't take over entirely, yeah. How is she?" [12:53 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Tris: He sighs a little, but a reluctant smile spreads across his face. "You know you're going to turn me grey, right? You and Lawrence both." [12:54 AM] Rea of Sunshine: She both likes and hates being called a "favorite" anything, but Mila allows it, taking the drink and giving a nod. "We'll leave whenever you bloody fuckin' want, I don't give a shit 'bout being 'ere 'cept for the drinks." [12:55 AM] Rea of Sunshine: "Natalie?" Kate raises her shoulders with an awkward laugh. "Well, she's still Natalie. Actually, she's been really great these past few months. Not that she isn't always, but I just mean she's picked up a little more slack for me which is nice." [12:56 AM] Raluca Marks: Victoire smiled with acid, not because she felt unwanted, but just to establish something. "You have small hands anyway." She had no such intentions, of course, and his 'lack' of interest was a relief given her own plans for their discussion, but it was worth saying. "You're already convinced," Victoire pointed out, not sure, but the boy was talking quickly and in a friendly manner, so she thought it was at least a good beginning. "What's so wrong with being in the paper? It's fun. We'll get a nice pic of you, where you can... I don't know, be your charming self, glaring or smoking or whatever makes you happy. And it's better to hear your side of the story than Noah Sharpe's. He'd beg me to write his article. Beg at my feet, crawling." That was such a lie. [1:06 AM] Rea of Sunshine: Melinda keeps checking the door ever five minutes like clockwork, and scanning the room most of the time in between just in the hopes that Scarlet might appear. She never does, and it turns Melinda more and more sour as the night goes on, until one martini turns into two, and then three. [1:07 AM] Mistress of Evil: "But I have long fingers," Scorpius countered since claiming his hands weren't small only sounded on the petulant side of defensive. "I was setting you at ease that you're not being hit on again, not insulting you. I'm just very out of practice at saying the right thing. I'm already convinced so let's freshen your drink, Splinter, and I'll be happy to give you the true and exclusive answer to whatever you ask. Sharpe is going to be shouting nonsense from rafters and I'd hate for you to get caught up in it when there's a dispute to the story." [1:11 AM] Raluca Marks: Colin gasped theatrically. "But we would never do this to you. Actually, it's a lie. We're talking behind your back to ruin you. Hope you can forgive us." [1:14 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Tris: "You're the /worst/, Colin Nott, how does Roxanne put up with you?" He was grinning now, though, and briefly reached to squeeze Colin's arm. "I'm glad Scorpius is back. Glad they're all back, of course, but especially Scorpius, for you. I can't imagine how you'd redecorate the bar without him to keep you in check." He stuck his tongue out at the last comment. [1:15 AM] Raluca Marks: Victoire snorted at his remark and then shook her head, mildly amused still. "This time, please let it be a cranberry vodka," she told the elf coldly, but not in a patronizing voice. Turning her attention back to Scorpius, she listened and rolled her eyes at the mere mention of Noah again. "You are a life saver, but... not tonight. Let's not ruin your big night. You should go play that piano, long fingers, and I'll get you another day when you're ready to answer all of my questions and give me the interview of my life," she wagged her eyebrows suggestively for the first part and then smiled more softly on the second. [1:16 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Kai: Impulsively, after a couple more drinks and having gotten less 'clingy' and more 'handsy', he blinked at Mila and then frowned. "What did you name the kitten in the end, anyway? I'm pretty sure Josh was just calling it 'you little asshole'. It clawed the shit out of his curtains. I knew you'd click." [1:18 AM] Mistress of Evil: Noah is a bit too grounded. The pounding in his veins that could pass for excitement  isn't enough already and no conversation can hold him, all music seems off tune still and he's back at the bar having another few shots when he spots Lucy and drifts over to her like he's magnetized, look in his eye possibly for her and possibly for wondering if she's wearing her Christmas present and about to save him from being underprepared just as if this was another business meeting [1:19 AM] Rea of Sunshine: "Himeros," she says after a gulp of her drink, and she takes another sip before continuing. "Following my Greek Mythology trend with Hera, yeah? You know 'oo they are?" [1:20 AM] Raluca Marks: "I always thought I am the best," Colin sighed nostalgically, letting a fond smile creep onto his lips. "I don't know. She doesn't tell her secrets." When Tristan spoke about Scorpius, Colin touched his chest, clearly impressed and touched by his words. "Thank youuu," he squealed and placed his hand over Tris'. "I know, it was torture, not being able to move the furniture around for four whole months. I don't know how I survived it without him." [1:20 AM] Mistress of Evil: "Lucy!" He calls her name too loudly, but only to be heard over the other news. "You look fantastic." He cuts between her and whoever she is with if she's not with Poppy anymore, with a hand falling to her waist as he moves in approximation of the music [1:24 AM] Mistress of Evil: "Another night then," Scorpius agreed. He scrunched his face. "Skipped out on too many piano lessons so I'll wait until the end of the night when I'm as wasted as everyone else and have an excuse." He knows a send off when he hears one and wanders away disappointed when he should be satisfied to have the interview set and to have gotten his hero moment stopping a patron from being harrassed. He sets sight on Kate again but first he passes by Alex because I'm interested in hearing this theory. "Hey there, Archer, having a good time?" [1:26 AM] Lynn the Queen: Hearing Noah call out for her, rather loud, she turned to find him walking over to her. "Thank you." She smiled at him, throwing Poppy (lets just say they were still talking) an apologetic look. "You seem to be in a good mood.." He seemed drunk, but after what he'd been through, she didn't fault him for that. Lucy chuckled, gently removing his hand from her waist, ignoring the thought that she could let his hand stay where it was. People were talking enough already and he was just drunk. She was wearing the necklace he had given her tucked into her dress, only the chain visible around her neck. [1:35 AM] Mistress of Evil: Noah pouted slightly when his hand was removed but didn't put it back, rather, frowning at his hand for a moment afterward like he was making a point that the hand did that on its own, divorced from him. "Good mood? Yeah, sure, best mood. You know me. Life of the party. And it's part my party. You're...good mood too? Having fun?" He saw the necklace and he knew he could just ask to borrow it for a second but his scattered mind, not really an effect from anything but just naturally that way, had already jumped. "Don't you want to dance with me?" [1:39 AM] Mistress of Evil: "This is stupid," Olivier blurred his words together slightly though not in the places his accent usually softened his consonents. "Why are we 'ere?" He wasn't sure whether he was talking to Melinda or himself or daring someone else to answer. [1:39 AM] Lynn the Queen: Lucy chuckled again when he pouted, finding his behavior amusing. "That's great. That it is, I think you're pretty much required to have fun." Her voice joking at the end. "I am. It's a nice party." She nodded, smiling. There wasn't any drama she witnessed so far, something which she was glad for. "Sure. Why not? It's partly your party, right?" She liked the song that was playing at the moment and since she's had a few drinks as well, she actually felt like dancing. [1:40 AM] Rea of Sunshine: Melinda nods in agreement, taking another sip from her drink before shooting him a look, raising one eyebrow. "I thought it was obvious. We're waiting for Scarlet." [1:42 AM] Caitlin, Employed Tentacle Creature: Kai: He hums and nods. "Queen of the gods and the god of Sexual Desire. Good names for cats. Much better than the shit Lawrence comes up with." [1:48 AM] Mistress of Evil: Olivier grips his drink more tightly, frustration shifting to Melinda. Scarlet's not going to just walk through the door. "Zat would be a dramatic entrance," he casts off just as acidic as if he'd said the more direct statement. He sighs, "I'm going to get another drink of something." The or soemthing is closer to as he starts to just wander off [1:56 AM] Mistress of Evil: Noah's smile flashes again and he leads Lucy back to the center of the dance floor. His handssettle in close enough to appropriate places for the moment after her pulls her flush against him. "Lucy, that leave of absense you went on, you're technically still on it, aren't you?" he asks lowly [2:01 AM] Lynn the Queen: Lucy was about to say something when he pulled her closer, but he started talking first. She was half sure what he was getting at, but she was still apprehensive as she didn't want to complicate anything between them. Things were good right now. It didn't matter that she liked being that close to him, doing her best to always stay professional. Giving him the benefit of doubt, however, she nodded. "I am. Why are you asking?" [2:02 AM] Rea of Sunshine: "Why bother staying? Just go the fuck home," Melinda spits, annoyed. If he doubted Scarlet's coming and didn't want to be here anyway, she couldn't see the point. [2:08 AM] Raluca Marks: ((anybody up for a conversation? I just came back)) [2:09 AM] Lynn the Queen: (i am here who do u want?) [2:14 AM] Lynn the Queen: (i am here i just type slow) [2:15 AM] Raluca Marks: "You're drinking wine," Colin raised his eyebrows, as observant as ever, sipping his completely inappropriate orange juice without thirst or interest, just because he was bored and the orange color looked good in his hands with his outfit. "When's your bedtime?" [2:17 AM] Mistress of Evil: Olivier sighs and doesn't turn back, his, "Not until you do. I have to see you 'ome," an exasperated murmur not meant to carry to her when she would argue. He  continues on to the bar, and would approach Diana if 1) Melinda wasn't waylaying him like she might 2) he didn't see her brother come over to her first and purposefully hang back to eavesdrop on the Notts, interested after hearing some though admittedly not all even of what he was present for of unstable Johanna acting unstable with Colin too [2:22 AM] Lynn the Queen: "And you are drinking..juice?" She raised an eyebrow, wondering if there was some kind of alcohol in his drink. If she knew he was holding it only because it went with his outfit, she would've understood it as she has done the same in the past. (lbr its the notts) "Very funny." Diana putting her drink down on the bar. "What you did for Scorpius and the others with throwing this party is very nice. Parties like this are not my scene, so I cannot say how good it is, but people are enjoying themselves. Congratulations." [2:24 AM] Mistress of Evil: "I'm just asking," Noah murmured vaguely, head dipping going from talking in Lucy's ear to lips ghosting on the side of her neck. "I want to stick to my resolutions." If he isn't pushed away or something by the end of his sentence he's carefully picked up the chain of the necklace in his teeth so when he  moves his head back he can lift it enough to make sure it's the one he thinks it is before dropping it and commenting now is the perfect break in case of emergency moment. [2:33 AM] Lynn the Queen: "Okay.." Her voice was hesitant and lower than it was before. Her heartbeat sped up a bit due to him being that close to her, nervous as to what he might do. Resolutions? "What resolutions?" Lucy wasn't sure if she wanted to know but she asked anyways, still overwhelmed and unsure how to deal with the situation. Due to her internally debating with herself as to what she should do, he was able to pick up the necklace. She wore it since it was his Christmas present to her and it was partly his party, but since it didn't go that well with her dress she just tucked it in. She hadn't been able to figure out what it meant, spending most of her time while he was away grieving and then being worried that something happened to him too. "Can you tell me what's inside now?" [2:34 AM] Mistress of Evil: (brb, like rb) [2:52 AM] Mistress of Evil: (And back but I think my laptop is lying to me and new messages haven't loaded) [2:54 AM] Mistress of Evil: Roxanne has come back to the party by now, a bit more subdued but trying not to act anything but electrified for anyone [2:54 AM] Mistress of Evil: ((just in case Colin and Di are done)) [3:11 AM] Mistress of Evil: "You playing coy is cute." Noah didn't think that Lucy, smart as she was didn't know what he was getting at, the firmness about not sleeping with the assistant. Stupid thing to say when he'd thought about it, dumb cliche to avoid. One of his hands grazed lower into less neutral territory and he grinned around the chain in his teeth before letting it go. "Pixie dust," he answered exuberant again in waves and without a hint of shame. Expression innocent as a puppy even with dilated pupils. "We could share," this time he did acctually drop a kiss near the base of her neck. "I still have one of Colin's business cards to make lines," he wheedled, then he moved his lips a little higher and let them linger a little longer on the next kiss. [3:18 AM] Lynn the Queen: "I have no idea what you're talking about." She wasn't a good actress, knowing her lie wasn't as convincing as she wanted it to be. Lucy moved his hand back up, rolling her eyes despite there being a small smile on her face. She wasn't mad at him. It only took a moment for her to understand what he was getting at, understanding what was inside the necklace but not understanding the meaning he got her that as a gift. "I'm not going to do drugs." That she was firm on, he wasn't going to change her mind about that. Lucy was /this/ close to kissing him back and her not pulling away meant something she wasn't willing to acknowledge, but she didn't kiss him back. Trying her best to keep her resolve, she put a hand on his chest, putting a bit of distance between them. "We shouldn't." [3:22 AM] Raluca Marks: "Orange juice like the cool people," he justified himself and smirked confidently and brought his glass close to hers to clink them. She lost him at the fifth word spoken because he couldn't focus for long on her and her annoying voice, but he was still smiling at least. Colin nodded as if he had listened and flashed his eyebrows as she stopped talking, secretly grateful (though Diana would certainly be able to see right through the act). "Yes, he is my best friend. Love him." [3:24 AM] Lynn the Queen: "Obviously." She nodded, clinking her glass together with his, taking another sip before she put it back down. "You could at least pretend to listen better. I was giving you a compliment." Diana herself loved being complimented, it always made her feel better. [3:26 AM] Raluca Marks: "Thank you, Didi, I've never got a compliment before in my whole life so naturally, now I am beyond flattered that you showed some basic appreciation for this one thing in the world I'm brilliant at," Colin retorted a bit meanly, placing a hand on his chest as if flattered indeed, and, words aside, speaking in a warm tone of voice. [3:29 AM] Lynn the Queen: "That nickname is horrendous. Do not call me that. I did not mean it like that, all I was saying, if you would have listened, is that I thought that what you did for Scorpius and the other people was great." Diana was still herself and wasn't really sure who those other people were, only remembering that Scarlet had been missing as well and having heard that she was the only one that hadn't returned [3:31 AM] Mistress of Evil: "Okay," he murmured against her neck, unbothered. "Not for everyone. Still think you're missing out." His hand groped lower again as soon as it was moved. Bad hand. "We definitely shouldn't." Lips grazing again, moving up and along her jawline almost detouring to her mouth before another flash quick grin Lucy wouldn't see, and retreat. "Not on the dancefloor." He reminded her that was where they were and still, as he remembered, moving somewhat like they were trying to dance. "Though if it doesn't bother you..." He latched onto a spot behind her ear. [3:39 AM] Raluca Marks: "You'll of course live," he smiled, benevolent again, and grabbing a straw for his juice, wondering why he hasn't done it earlier. "Yes. Yes, it's a decent party. Yes, I live for the applause, what can I say? I can say thank you. Thank you. It's nice of you to have shown up. I'm sure Scorpius cares." He actually thinks he doesn't. [3:41 AM] Lynn the Queen: "Move your hand please, before I move it again." Her tone firm, she moved her glance down to where his hand was for a moment, waiting for him to move it. She wasn't sure if his wandering hands could be attributed to how drunk he was or if there was another reason behind it. She let out a relieved breath when she foolishly, for a moment, thought he was agreeing with her. "Definitely not." She had almost forgotten about the people around them, taking another step back as they were standing pretty close before. Once again Lucy pulled away, she was confused, part of her wanted this, but her rational side held her back. "We can't." She made a motion to move towards the bar. "I'm gonna go.. a drink.. I'm gonna get a drink." Her words didn't make much sense, but she needed to get out of there fast before her rational side stopped holding her back [3:43 AM] Lynn the Queen: "He seemed pleased that I showed up. More pleased than you certainly, but I do not believe that is a hard feat to accomplish. He showed me the magazine picture of me that he hung up a few months ago." She liked spending time with Scorpius, he was actually nice to her. "Did he tell you he was going to fashion week in Paris with me?" [3:48 AM] Raluca Marks: "He omitted it," Colin answered sharply. Leaving his bar seat with his glass he tilted it towards her, as if toasting for Diana. "Well, have fun in Paris. I'm going to... have fun in Nott Scorpions. Enjoy the great party. Go find Scorpius and make him seem pleased again. He certainly deserves it." [3:51 AM] Lynn the Queen: Because of his tone Diana realised that what she said may not have been the smartest, but she didn't see any shame in going to fashion week, only seeing it from her own biased way. "Thank you. I was thinking of going home actually, I am rather tired and I cannot have bags under my eyes, but it would be impolite for me to leave without saying goodbye." [3:53 AM] Mistress of Evil: He moved his hand right away--or what he thought was right away, he wasn't sure at what speed he was moving but it was usually too fast rather than to slow at least-- and as soon as her body language became less obliging he backed off entirely. Expression a bit disappointed and confused but not upset or resentful. He nodded, abashed like a corrected child and sounding as petulant as one when he countered, "I think we could,"  before retreating from the could sound resentful whine and nodding some more, too many times probably as he stepped back. He rubbed his eyes briefly with the pads of his hands, both at the same time to focus vision and then raked them through his hair and cleared his throat again. "Good idea. I'll go....see you tomorrow, when you return to work and forget about this." He spun on his heel and went off in the opposite direction [3:53 AM] Raluca Marks: "Good. Bye," Colin bowed his head and took off, looking for... um, Beth, how are you feeling? [3:54 AM] Raluca Marks: ((nooo i had hopes from lucy and noah)) [3:54 AM] Lynn the Queen: ((who said its over)) [3:57 AM] Raluca Marks: ((pls lynn don't play with my heart)) [3:59 AM] Lynn the Queen: Lucy felt bad for pulling away and for pushing him away, but she knew that it was for the best. He was just drunk after all, he didn't like her like that. He just missed having her around when he was gone and he was just naturally a flirtatious person. It would be awkward for a bit, but certainly not as awkward as it would've been if they went any further. "See you tomorrow." Lucy nodded, her voice softer than before, walking over to the bar, ordering a cold water. She just needed to clear her head. [4:05 AM] Mistress of Evil: Roxanne is still trying to shake off her weird conversation (confrontation?) with Johanna but she was acting more upbeat for the covering and playing hostess-by-association with everyone there until she saw the person she really wanted to talk to split from his sister. She'd been watching them, hoping as she did every time that she'd look back and see them laughing together and bonding but alas, as she should have and deep down did expect, Colin looked disgruntled and Diana disappointed when they parted. She chose Colin to approach with minimal self-reproach, sneaking up to him as much as she could and wrapping arms around him from behind, bracing her toes in her heels to stretch up even an extra bit more to be able to lean her chin on his shoulder. "Am I supposed to cover your eyes to deliver the guess who?" [4:11 AM] Mistress of Evil: Scorpius, having previously been doing mysterious Scorpius things, sees Diana closer to the exit, looking like she's searching for someone. Not knowing that it's him she wants to say goodbye to, his first question is the obvious when he approaches her. "Looking for someone? Maybe I can help." [4:12 AM] Raluca Marks: "I'm a terrible guesser. I'd have said Noah," he shook his head and detached her arms from around him, holding them as he was making a spider-catching-fly-in-its-web graceful move that ended up with Roxanne in front of him and her hands on his shoulders, dance-ready position. "Speaking of Noah... I left him one of my business cards earlier. Do you think he'll call me?" [4:14 AM] Lynn the Queen: Diana nodded, relieved when he came over. "I was looking for you actually. I wanted to say goodbye before I left."
