Nice to meet you

I would imagine that for the most part, I will be talking to myself but as I am worried how often that happens out loud. I’ve decided to try and write it down...because somehow, that feels less crazy.

 I’m Celeste, I’m 30 years old and live in Brisbane, Australia. I live with my partner and our 7-year-old Doberman Theo. Our living arrangements aren’t what most people would consider normal, as my partner is only physically here one week out of the month. For the rest of the month, he lives in a tiny room on the other side of Australia in a mining camp. This means, that for the most part...I am home alone a lot. I cope with it a lot of the time, but I won’t lie to you; this arrangement doesn’t suit everyone and marriages between regular folk and FIFO worker have a reputation of being short lived. 

 Luckily for us, something can’t end if it hasn’t even begun yet. I know, I know; My first blog entry and I’m already lying! However, no my partner and I aren’t yet married. However, the venue is booked and in 18months we will be. So while, I may be jumping the gun in creating a blog called “Life of a FIFO Wife”,” Life of a FIFO Fiancé” just didn’t have a good ring to it and would just be yet another thing I’d have to change in 18 months’ time. So I told a little white lie..whoops.

 My aim for this blog is pretty simple, I just wanted a space where I could share my experience, give tips to anyone who might happen to read and a place other than my partners ears to whinge when times get tough and I’m sick of this lifestyle. 

 So welcome to what I could only describe as a dumping ground for my thoughts and feelings FIFO related. I hope you get something out of it. Even if it’s just to giggle at my expense.
